Everything I had tasted fresh and delicious. I didn't need the bbq sauce due to how good the flavor of the meat was, but I ended up dipping my potatoes and bread in it because it was delicious too.

Customer service from staff and food has always been good. Best Soulmans in the DFW the food is good quality bbq.

We loved this place. The brisket was juicy. The ribs were tender. The chicken was flavorful and not overcooked. The macaroni and cheese was delicious. Can't vouch for the desserts as I had no room. My family filled in the corners with the complimentary soft serve ice cream. The young ladies serving the food were friendly and sweet. Definitely would go back! And we are barbecue snobs.

Visiting from out of state and had a great time with delicious BBQ. The staff laughed and joked with us and we felt treated as if we were regulars. The prices were also really great.

Upon arriving the employees were kind and polite very clean place to enjoy a delicious brisket sandwich and a free ice cream for dessert.

We tried Soulman’s once before at a different location, and we were not impressed. Well, I can say without hesitation, that the Forney location was amazing! The restaurant was very clean, and the food was excellent! Our party had sausage, brisket, pulled pork, Mac and cheese, potato salad, green beans, and chicken. Everything was delicious, however, imo, the brisket was a bit dry. That won’t stop me from trying it again. A man named Doug, was incredibly helpful and wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. He even refilled my husband’s drink!! Overall, a 9/10.

Drove over from Shreveport Louisiana to antique shop for the day in Forney, Texas. Stopped midpoint to grab a bite to eat. We wanted some good BBQ. We didn’t get good BBQ. We got GREAT BBQ!!! There wasn’t anything bad that we ordered. Their ribs were perfectly smoked; with the perfect pull from the rib bone! Their sliced brisket was on point! Great ring of smoke bark on the outside. But tender and juicy inside! Their smoked sausage was legit as well. Tried both their regular sauce and their Hot BBQ sauce. I couldn’t make up my mind which one I liked best. So I just kept alternating bites dipped in each. Their sides weren’t anything to sneeze at either. Born and raised in the South; I’m a potato salad snob. It has to be just so. My own is hard to beat. Theirs got a big thumbs up from me. They have these hash brown potatoes that were a great side. We will definitely make a point to come back anytime we’re driving through Forney! Service was great as well! When customer service seems to be going down the drain these days every where you go. They still believe in old fashioned service with a hello and a smile! 5 Stars! 10 out of 10! You won’t be disappointed if you stop by. And tell them that Michelle and Greg sent you! 😊

Three men welcomed me as soon as I entered. The man who sliced the brisket was very polite and there was another gentleman that I paid who was very polite as well. Doug came out and had a nice conversation with me about Forney back in the day. Very friendly guy. Great attitude! Introduced himself, thanked me for my business and said we hope to see you again soon.

Our first experience here was remarkable. The Customer Service and Professionalism and food at this location was impeccable. Mr. Eric and his amazing staff were nothing but amazing. We will continue to drive 45 miles just to eat here.

Love coming here for lunch. Their loaded baked potatoes are delicious, warm, and full of brisket. The two gentleman that work at this location are very kind and attentive.

Ordered the Super Chuck Wagon, and everything was excellent. Brisket and turkey were awesome. Sides were also very good. The condiment bar with onion, pickles, and jalapenos needed attention but had most of what I needed. Great job guys, but fill that C bar. Thanks.

Visited this location at 6:15 today and I was greeted upon entrance. My order was immediately taken and I checked out in a breeze. The staff was friendly. Whomever cooked the meat today need to continue to keep this place in business it was perfect.

I have noticed the management here goes above the standard when it comes to the employee training and standards. The employees seem to actually respect the manager, and he has definitely earned mine. Man. I worked at a place like this that had thee best brisket. They are still #1. This place solid #2. Definitely not a bad thing. The place I worked, their brisket has the best flavor. This place. Idk. Sounds weird but working in a barbecue restaurant for years knowing what to look for, the brisket here just tastes so clean. Doesn't taste like artificial b.s. or desperately over seasoned. I can't explain it. Very pure taste. Sausage normally makes me sick with cramps. Not this sausage. The macaroni was freaking amazing as well. A lot of places have really disappointing mac n cheese. I'm really picky with my barbecue sauce. This barbecue sauce is definitely a top contender. Definitely 5 stars across the board for me. Small toppings bar does it's thing too. The employees were very nice. Can't say enough good things. Highly recommend. Makes me a little sad that I can't stay an extra day and that you guys open after I leave. Now I'll have to use you guys as an excuse to come here.

1st time here and let me tell you, this was some of the best BBQ I've ever had! The brisket was moist and melted in my mouth! The sausage was extremely flavorful and the sides were delicious. Plus the free ice cream at the end was a pleasant way to finish off the meal.

Came by here after church today. Food was fresh and tasty. Very friendly and prompt service! The pinto beans could use a little flavor that's why we gave them a 4 for the food. It would probably be better if they did BBQ beans. Mac and cheese was great Pulled pork, brisket, ribs and sausage were all great too. Banana pudding was delicious 😋 We will definitely return.

I like Soulman's. It's an old-school, Texan BBQ restaurant. Kind of like Luby's but BBQ. The meats are very consistent. Breads are hamburger buns (plain, no seeds) or Texas toast. Beans, other beans with stuff (onions and peppers), potato salad, and Cole slaw. Sides are ok. Plain in my opinion but alright. Sauce complements the meats without overpowering. Picked up 1lbs brisket, 1lbs turkey, 1 chicken, beans, potato salad, buns and Cole slaw. It was about $90 and enough for 6. I've been several times and will probably go again.

Pretty good restaurant. The food is delicious and its very clean. Customer service could be better... Employees are reserved and quiet - they don't seem to be enjoying their job much and this appears to be the same no matter when we go. Prices are fair, the food is yummy and we like the atmosphere.

Great food and barbeque. I personally like the smoke chicken. Juicy and tender. The ribs at this location are better than some of the surrounding areas. I wish they would add greens and sweet potatoes to the side menu. They got the meats, but could add a few more options for sides.

Love their loaded baked potatoes! Unfortunately, they sell out quickly but the on-line ordering doesn't know that. You get there, after you've paid on-line, only to be told they ran out hours ago but no way of showing that on-line. Someone needs to fix that!

I like going here. The place has a nice country vibe to it and the food is pretty good. I don't come here much, but it still does a good job for what it is.

My first ordering at the Mesquite location. I called ahead of time to ask how many will the typical one ordered ribs would feed. The lady who answered the phone said there were two slabs in each order. I took her word for it but when i got home, there were few pieces of ribs and it certainly didn’t look like they came from two slabs. Other than that, the food is great.

Meat (sliced brisket) is cooked but does not appear to be smoked or wood smoked. Could have a lot more flavor. The meat was grey all the way through. No visible smoke ring or color difference throughout. Was not dry but could definitely use a bit more smoke. The sliced bbq brisket sandwich was actually ground but with sauce and coleslaw it was ok. The coleslaw was the star of the meal. The spicy potatoes were very salty and lots of oil. Not good. Probably will not return. Better choices for same or less money. The place was clean and staff pleasant.

I gave it a shot even though it is like a chain food restaurant. The meat wasn't bad but for brisket the taste lacked a lot for flavor and was borderline to dry and was served cold. Chicken wasn't bad as well as the sausage. For the price, maybe a little less chicken and a little more sausage or brisket.

Fast line service. Food is ready for your plate to be made. Moderately priced. We enjoyed chicken, ribs, brisket, and a loaded baked potato.

Bland, fatty ribs, mac and cheese wasn't actually pretty good, did need garlic, pepper, salt, baked potato good, brisket tasteless, is it suppose to be smoked? No smoke!!! Just Bland and no impressive for the price, but it never has been.

Today I bought 3 plates with brisket and ribs. Brisket is fresh and tender but ribs are overcooked and dry! Guys, when you have leftovers or not fresh enough meat, please, don't put it for the customers! We pay too much,and we should get the best meat that you have!

This is the second time I’ve gotten sick. The first time I’m not sure what it was but today I know it’s the Mac n cheese. It smelled a little off , like it was spoiled, but I ignored it, now I have the runs. We don’t know if we’re coming back or not. Staff is always friendly and ready to serve.

I love the BBQ at Soulman's and I have stopped in at the location in Forney on many, many occasions, a family favorite is the Double Barrel Baked Potato with Chopped Beef. Usually it is loaded with butter, sour cream, cheese and Beef. Unhappily today, there was a Manager on duty (not the regular manager that has always been so nice) and my experience has caused me to think seriously about taking my BBQ business elsewhere. The potatoes were smaller than usual, the manager on duty acted as though he were afraid to put any meat in the tray (the portion he served was about 1/2 of what is usually served) and when I asked that my meat be lean and finely chopped he said he could not put it in the grinder without adding fat...??? I'm not sure if he thought I was an idiot or if HE is an idiot, but you can grind meat in a MEAT grinder without the fat... Yes, you do need to run fat through it occasionally to keep it primed and running smoothly...but the fat does NOT have to be in my meat. Not to mention, I've ordered my meat lean and it was put in the grinder every other time I have ordered it before so I'm not sure what his problem was. When I told him they had always put it through the grinder before he looked at me in disbelief. (REALLY???!!***). He finally put my meat in the grinder and then had the nerve to leave the cutting block to go to the kitchen where he then returned with two other guys to stare at me and my order being prepared. At this time my order was still not complete. I had also ordered 1 lb, each of three other meats. It took him a while to get that part of my order started. I got home about 10 min. after I completed my transaction to discover that the potatoes were barely warm also. Since when is the customer not always right, especially when it is I, that will be eating and paying for the food. My bill was over $100.00 which I am more than willing to pay for good food and good service, but tonight I feel that I was Royally screwed. Please note the young ladies working the counter were very sweet and did their job well. The manager that was on duty tonight, August 18, 2018 was the only big problem. There is another BBQ place in town that will probably be getting my next big BBQ order.

I am sorry I was not impressed. I don't often put negative input on reviews. I ordered a 3 meat plate the brisket had no taste, they gave me two small ribs and the sausage was too greasy to eat. The sides were not much better the okra was burnt to a crisp. The only thing that was kinda good was the corn. So won't be back and the service was very lack luster. Definitely not worth the 24 dollars I was charged.

I've eaten at this location several times and normally I like the food here. But I want to talk about the experience that I had today. Soulman's has thick cut fries that they only cook for 2 minutes. This leaves the fries very much underdone in my opinion. The good thing is, that they usually cook them to order so I can order them well done. Unfortunately, the folks there think that they know what I want better than I do and still try to give me fries that are underdone. Today, after they were done in record time, I told the server that I had asked for well done fries and the manager that made them insisted that they were "well done". When I got my food home the fries were half raw as I had feared. Whatever happened to the customer always being right? Why can't I get french fries that taste like french fries and not like the inside of a baked potato? If I want a baked potato, I'll order one. I am very disappointed.

Been a customer for a long time at various locations, but that will be no more. Went last week, ordered the "monthly special " which was the two meats plate for $18.95 Food was not great but ok, and when I checked my receipt, I realized they had charged me for a 3 meats plate! My bad for not checking right away, I guess 😏

This is what you get for $22. Better off going into Dallas if this what they have to offer.

I have seen soulmans BBQ around so I decided to try it out today. I ordered a 2 meat plate with brisket and ribs for the meat and mac and cheese and okra for the sides. The brisket was awful. Minimal smoke ring and almost zero bark. It was dry and flavorless. The ribs were mediocre at best. They were tender and not too dry but lacked any kind of seasoning. As far as the sides, the okra was cold and chewy but the mac and cheese was on point. Over all, the portions were good but the food lacked any kind of care for quality.

This location’s employees are really sweet and their service was good. The portions were good also. The food had no flavor. I had the one meat plate with brisket, sweet corn, and cabbage. The food looked like it was cooked that morning.

Visited this location to grab a quick lunch. Got sandwiches that had more fat than meat and also the worst customer service ever! Impolite butcher at this location. The only positive thing I can say is that the sauce is good.

I drove all the way from Irving to this restaurant because I love the food there. I have cancer and I don't like getting out that much. As I began to tell the guy my order he stopped me in mid sentence and wanted to know exactly what I wanted. I said I was at the beginning of the line and I wanted some of everything. Again he rudely said he couldn't do it like that. I had to tell him before I started ordering how many of each I wanted. I ended up leaving empty handed. I was so disappointed. He was very very rude. Ruined my entire week.

EDIT: Ok, I decided to try this place again. NEVER AGAIN. EVER. This is a very expensive, highly overrated BBQ restaurant. PROS: Very friendly staff, very clean dining room, the sweet tea. CONS: The brisket is dry and flavorless, the meat was room temperature and not warm at all-including the hot link, the okra was overcooked, the Texas toast was cold and rubbery and the so-called fried cabbage is NOT fried cabbage and lacks any kind of flavor whatsoever. OVERVIEW: If you don't mind wasting good money on overpriced and terrible food, this is your place. If you want good food at a reasonable price, this is not it. I would stay as far away from this one as possible. I know they are popular for whatever reason but I'm pretty sure it's more city folks who have never had real Texas BBQ. My recommendation is to go in for the tea and go down the road for a burger. As a matter of fact, Applebee's across the highway has better brisket. That's just sad. Soulman's BBQ got the last $50 from me they will ever get. The service is great but the food is lacking much flavor, especially for the cost. This was my first visit and I was really looking forward to better food. The restaurant is clean but sadly outdated. Just not a good impression and I probably won't go back.

Leaving there, I would never return. I was treated so bad by the cook. I was in line trying to get food and there was someone that was talking and they said that I can forward The cook began to tell me no let me take them first telling me I have to go to the back of the line after the customer said that I can go before them. I walked out humiliated and in disbelief, and I really felt like it was a prejudice act please pray for my heart I will never return to a restaurant with such poor customer service

Dry flavorless brisket, flavorless green beans, the campfire beans weren't good at all, the pulled pork was tough and flavorless. The sweet tea wasn't sweet enough. The barbecue sauce was pretty bad. I come from South Carolina. Where we know how to cook a pig. This just wasn't my cup of tea y'all.

While I'm not a food expert, I must say that the food and service at this establishment are lacking. I ordered ribs, but they were very tough and seemed to be over-smoked. Additionally, the flavor was overly salty, and the sides were bland and appeared to be straight out of a can. The cashier did not seem pleased when I visited. Given how rapidly Forney is expanding, I doubt this place will survive for long. All it would take is one competitor with a better product and service to quickly surpass and potentially shut down this establishment.

My sandwich had mold on it & when I called zero sympathy was given nor was an offer to replace it given as well. I will NOT be back & this was my first time. I spent over $50.00 Highly disappointed!!

Sure love serving you fat what a nice surprise after picking it up on the way home from work and it’s not the first time from that location either last time I was in there and happen to catch it , they gave me such a dirty look , pretty sure you wouldn’t serve that to your family if you where smoking a pork shoulder at home ! not even edible , straight to the trash can . Ordered a meal online for pickup. Food was ready when I picked it up. Got home realized I didn’t get the drinks I ordered. Called and told the girl who answered and she said just come back and get them. Sorry but not making a 45 minute round trip just for drinks. Just put the cost of drinks back on my card. Nobody here can do that. Just call back tomorrow. Lack of care and obviously no training. Seriously it’s not rocket science!
