They originally started in Astoria on Steinway in the back of a grocery store. The food is amazing. You must try the duck over pineapple fried rice, highly recommend. Their staff is very friendly and accommodating, I liked the TV on with cooking shows. Best Thai food around South Shore LI

I’ve had delivery from Secret Thai Kitchen twice and it’s quickly become my favorite Thai restaurant on Long Island (and all of New York while we’re at it!) The Pad See Ew & Pad Kee Mao were amazing, full of flavor and fresh vegetables. A new favorite is the Tom Yum Fried Rice—if you love Tom Yum soup, you will absolutely LOVE. I’ve also had the Crab Rangoon as a starter and again, absolutely delicious. Will add that the portions are extremely generous and each dish is perfectly pack. Absolute perfection!

Food was amazing here and the service was fast and pleasant. We had the Spring Rolls which were really good. The pad Kee mao and spicy basil fried rice were delicious, some of the best Thai food I’ve had in a long time.

Secret Thai Kitchen literally brings the real Thai Flavor to Freeport, absolute is the hidden gem💜 Let’s talk about Secret Thai Wings, perfectly balance of heat & flavorful. Chicken Thai Dumplings with tender fillings and flavorful dipping sauce. OMG’ I’m still thinking about Peanut Dumplings 🥟 delicious combination of savory flavors & nutty sweetness. Now, can we get the Real Star - Fried Chicken Over Rice 🌾 wow, the chicken was crunchy and juicy, just don’t forgot dip in the sauce. Wait, the Shrimp Pad Thai is one of the most popular dishes. Ionic funky, fishy, sweet & sour. Ok, don’t sleep on the drinks - creative cocktails 🍹 Thai Iced Tea 🫖 Thai Iced Coffee ☕️ Can we miss the dessert - The Mango Sticky Rice ? Guys, the mango is SO SWEET.

A Secret Gem on the Nautical Mile is none other than Secret Thai, a charming establishment with delicious, authentic food and great service! The eggplant dish was absolutely spectacular, and my vegan friend was all smiles! We shared appetizers, each better than the next, and we were able to linger in conversation, as the staff was not rushing us out! Cannot wait to return to this great spot!

I've lived in Long Island most of my life and have had numerous Thai restaurants. Secret Thai Kitchen is by far the best Thai food I've ever had in NY or even NYC. The food is great, the service and severs are helpful and the atmosphere is simple but charming. You can either eat indoors or outside which is never a bad set of options. The price is a bit expensive but the amount of food and taste make it 100% worth it. If it was closer I'd be here everyday!

I called ahead before to see if they had lunch specials and they do! When I got here a table was reserved for me. I worked while I enjoyed fresh Tai fried rice, a Lychee Martini and some veggie rolls. Music was great, clean, and convenient parking. Not sure if they have wifi. Stumbled upon a Hidden Gem Tucked Away in the Grocery Store I finally managed to check out the Secret Thai Street Food, a place my friend recommended months ago but I never got around to visiting. This hidden spot is nestled deep inside a grocery store. I arrived rather late, around 6 PM, and the store was quiet, with the server looking genuinely happy to see me. I ordered two dishes: Pork Belly with Egg and Tofu, and Panang Pork. In short, the food was incredibly tasty. While I'm not a huge fan of the fatty parts in Pork Belly, I must admit this dish was an exception and turned into my little guilty pleasure. Now, let's talk about the Panang Pork. It surpassed my expectations. When I initially reheated this dish, I asked my girlfriend if she wanted to share it with me, and she said, "No, thanks." However, as the aromas of the Panang began to waft through the air, her nose couldn't resist, and she quickly changed her mind, joining me for the meal. In a nutshell, I had a fantastic experience at Secret Thai Street Food and will definitely be returning soon.

Came here with my partner and needless to say we love itt! It is more a togo grab and go kindda spot but there’s tables where you can dine in (which we did) because the food and vibe was just amazing. They do also have a menu to order any other kinds of Thai food (which we also did) if you don’t see what you want in the trays. Thank you so much to the 3 moms for preparing us the most authentic Thai food, will definitely be back again!:) Oh and don’t forget to pair the food with their Thai Ice Tea;)

Came here twice in one week because it was so good (and brought friends just to show off this gem)! Everything is delicious - from the Thai iced tea to soup to noodles to the spicy basil sauce. The flavors taste stepped up a notch compared to your usual takeout. The veggies in the noodles and stir fry are especially bright and tasty! The owners are so friendly and bringing great eats to Steinway. Just got home from dinner there and already looking forward to my next visit.

Literally the best experience. We celebrated my nephew's 18th birthday. They were so accommodating and attentive. The best service that we've ever experienced. The patio was adorable. I was initially worried because of our baby but once we were able to bring the heater closer, we had no issues. This is easily my new spot for girls nights, date nights, and more family nights. The food is 10/10.

Ordered on UberEats. The food is delicious Ginger rice 10/10 Chicken pad Thai 8/10 Tom kha Kai soup with shrimp 7/10 (only had 2 pieces of shrimp) Nice sized portions as well, this was enough to feed 2 people twice. Will definitely be returning.

I haven't been able to find a good pad see ew in Astoria, but the flavour of this one was legit. And they're very generous with both the chicken and the vegetables which is nice. Very satisfied.

K
Kerssey Neau

It was my first time trying this place and I am impressed. The curry puffs and secret Thai wings were amazingly delicious! However, the real star of the show was the spicy Thai basil with chicken!! It had the right amount of spiciness and very flavorful! And if you have a bit of a sweet tooth like me don’t forget to get their dessert. I had the mango sticky rice drizzled with a creamy coconut finish!

Y
Yasin Ali

Not only the environment is amazing but the food is spectacular!! If you need a good meal, need to take your significant other on a date, or want to treat yourself to something, this is the best place to go!

It's been a joy to have Secret Thai Street Food in the neighborhood, even though Astoria is not exactly short of great Thai options. This is the perfect place for grabbing a quick takeout lunch or dinner meal, with some of our favorites including the spicy basil fried rice and the Pad Khee Mao. As a bonus, their soup side option is unusually generous with both meat and vegetables instead of just broth. Although there isn't a ton of seating for dining in, it's all spaced out comfortably and there is free water you can get from a dispenser on a side table.

Food is delicious, the secret thai wings were definitely one of my favorites. The portions are large and I would definitely come here again.

The Secret Thai Kitchen in Freeport, NY just Celebrated its Grand Opening on the Famous Nautical Mile. So my wife and I thought we’d give it a try… When we walked into the restaurant we were greeted immediately by a lovely woman with a big smile. She seated us immediately and the server came to our table to take our drink order. I had a IPA 🍺 Draft Beer and my wife ordered a glass of wine. Within a few minutes our drinks were served and we placed our order. We ordered the peanut dumplings as an appetizer, fried chicken over rice and the chicken & vegetable Pod Kee Mao. The dumplings were absolutely delicious and presented in a very inviting way. The fried chicken had a heavy crust and prepared to perfection. My wife raved about the Pod Kee Mao, taste and delicious. The size of the servings were large, much more than we could eat so we each had a take home box. The restaurant is clean and beautifully decorated in dark wood with a small bar that can accommodate 7. This restaurant offers a full bar and speciality mixed drinks. Halfway through the meal the owner, a very polite woman came to our table to inquire about our selection of entrees and if we were enjoying the food. Her Name was Vasinee Levy and goes by the Nick Name “NOKI”. This restaurant also offers an option of peanut free meals. We finished our meal and asked for the bill. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the bill. My wife and I both ate for $69 (+) tip. This restaurant is very affordable. This restaurant is a wonderful addition to the Nautical Mile and sure to be a success with NOKI at the helm. Thank you NOKI an outstanding eating experience!!! You made our short list of go to restaurants for our friends & family!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

SOOOO happy that Secret Thai opened their new location! Everything was better than I remember, and their cocktails are great too! The peanut dumplings were fresh and flavorful, the secret thai wings were cooked perfectly with an amazing sauce, the spicy udon had a kick with some really balanced flavors, and the hom-huuan drink was super refreshing! The bartender was also very polite and attentive. Can't wait to go back, highly recommend!!!!

I love their food!! I usually order Pad Thai but ordered one of their spicier dishes . It was great! Of course I had to have their fried tofu and Thai iced tea!! This is my go to restaurant for Thai food. I probably go at least once a month or order in from them!! So good!!

This place has the most authentic recipes to their dishes. It’s family owned and you can taste all the savoriness passed down from generations. I recommend those Secret Thai Wings and of course the Pad Thai - a classic dish that is packed with the realest Thai flavors. The Som Tom Thai Papaya Salad was something new but the combination of ingredients was a burst of flavor that’s best captured in that first bite! Oh, and don’t skip the Thai Tea 🫶🏽

New favorite Thai spot—hands down! I wasn’t expecting to find a Thai restaurant that could outshine my usual go-to, but this place did it effortlessly. I ordered the Crispy Pork Belly Fried Rice with Shrimp, and it was unreal—every bite had that perfect crunch from the pork, the shrimp were cooked just right, and the seasoning was spot-on without being too heavy. The Naree cocktail was the perfect pairing—smooth, balanced, and just the right mix of sweet and citrusy. You can tell they take their drinks as seriously as their food here. It’s rare to find a place that nails both flavor and vibe like this. I’m already looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu. Easily a 10/10 experience.

Secret Thai Kitchen did not disappoint! I had the spicy udon and it was perfectly seasoned with so much flavor. The noodles were so delicious that we ended up ordering an extra order to go. My husband had the pineapple fried rice with chicken and loved it as well—great balance of savory and sweet. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. We’ll definitely be back!

Hands down one of my favorite local neighborhood Thai spots. I’ve been here 5+ times and it’s always consistently great. Their fried snapper is incredible and my favorite dish— perfectly crispy, tender inside, and covered in the most flavorful sauce with fresh veggies. The food, drinks, and teas never miss. You can tell everything is made with care, and it keeps me coming back every time. A true gem in the neighborhood.

Secret Thai is the best secret on nautical mile! A cute and cozy family owned restaurant if you love Thai food or just want a delicious bite, this is the place you need to be! Like the other reviews have mentioned they do have their own parking lot, which is more of a reason why you should definitely go! They also have a very cute back patio for fun summer vibes! I had the secret Thai chicken wings, which were perfectly cooked very crispy and that secret Thai sauce is out of this world! I also ordered a side of egg fried rice again cooked to perfection. And for dessert, I had the fried ice cream which was also very tasty!

Family owned and run by a mother and son duo, this spot brings all the best Thai flavors to Long Island from crispy Thai wings and flavorful peanut dumplings to the best garlic pepper calamari I’ve ever had! My wife ordered food from here for the first time when the roads were extremely flooded. She could not get to the restaurant due to this and a team member delivered the food to her car. Not only does this show amazing customer service, but the food was also amazing. She got the Pad Kee Mao lunch special. It was the perfect level of spice with great flavor.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely phenomenal Thai experience! I thought I had a favorite Thai spot locked in—until I came here. From the moment I walked in, everything felt elevated: the cozy ambiance, the attentive service, and most importantly, the food. I ordered the Pad See Eww, and honestly, it was next-level—perfectly balanced, with tender noodles, smoky wok flavor, and crisp, vibrant veggies that brought every bite to life. Everything was fresh! To top it off, I tried the Naree cocktail, and it was the kind of drink that makes you stop mid-conversation just to savor it. Smooth, refreshing, and dangerously easy to love. If you’re a Henny lover this would be your top choice! This place officially dethroned my usual go-to. Everything about the experience hit the mark, and I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend to anyone who wants Thai food done right—and then some.

Noki, the owner is amazing. So friendly. She’s funny too. She taught me so much about Thailand while I enjoyed lunch. Everything was amazing 🥲 no complaints. The location of this restaurant is perfect. So peaceful. Beautiful view. I must come back in the summer. The beef Thai basil spicy fried rice was 100/10. The hospitality from Noki and her staff made me want to stay here for hours. This restaurant is def worth the drive from Brooklyn. I can’t wait to return.

Update: went to their new location & everything was just as delicious as I remembered. They remembered us & were so sweet! Miss them terribly, but wishing them all the success. Came here for some lunch and ended up getting the lunch special with my boyfriend. I got the Spicy basil fried rice with chicken and it’s the best I’ve ever had. My boyfriend got the red curry and it was amazing. The sauce that the fried tofu comes with is soooo good! Highly recommend this place.

I had the best experience at Secret Thai Kitchen! The curry puffs are my absolute fav! So good! I also got the Spicy Basil chicken as an entree and it was super flavorful. I’m so glad this place moved to the nautical mile. The food is so good and service is great. We got the curry puffs as an appetizer and they were delicious, so sad it only came with three. The spicy udon is my go to. My friend got the chicken over rice combo and the daikon soup it comes with is lovely. Great for such a cold day.

This secret spot is SO good. I ordered the son tum Thai (papaya salad), Thai chili wings, and red curry with tofu. Both were very good portions and the flavors were beautifully blended. The curry was so smooth and delicious and had a hint of spice that combined very well with the coconut milk. All of the flavors were alive!! The papaya salad was so fresh and crunchy and full of spice and flavor. It was such a good portion as well, I am so happy I found this place! The wings had delicious flavor of Thai chili. Yummy. As for the Thai iced tea, it was amazing and so cold and refreshing. Definitely try this spot you will be more than pleasantly surprised and impressed!

I ordered the Tom Yum soup, spicy eggplant with chicken, and spicy udon with beef. The Thai iced tea and the Thai iced tea with lemon were decent—though a bit on the sweet side for my taste. The spicy udon had a nice flavor overall, but the beef had an unpleasant aftertaste, almost like it had been cooked in leftover or overly fatty beef drippings. That part could definitely be improved. On the other hand, the spicy eggplant with chicken was excellent—flavorful, well-balanced, and something I would definitely order again.

Secret Thai Kitchen is truly a hidden gem! From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed with warm hospitality and the cozy ambiance that makes you feel right at home. The menu is filled with authentic Thai dishes, each one bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. I tried the Pad Thai and Green Curry, and both were absolutely delicious—rich, well-balanced, and with just the right amount of spice. The ingredients were fresh, and you could taste the quality in every bite.

Cocktails: The Thai Rum Punch was weak. An extra shot of rum did the trick! Appetizers: The Papaya Salad was too sweet, and the Curry Puff tasted like a samosa with insufficient filling and flavor. Main Course: I could eat the Shrimp Pad Thai all day long. The Pad Kee Mao Chicken was also very good. Dessert: The Mango Sweet Sticky Rice needed more coconut cream Servers frequently came to our table, and the owners were friendly and professional.

Great food and service. I got the crispy pork belly and beef pad Thai. My husband got the shrimp drunken noodle and said it was good. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. The food came out quickly and hot. Would definitely be back

Friendly attentive service. My pad tai was not what I am used to. The sauce on the noodles was rich and heavy. Shrimp were very tasty. Tea was premium brand and was in a large cup.

I was in the mood for Thai food I found this spot in Freeport. Arrived pretty late so it was 45 minutes to closing. We were received well. It was empty due to the time we arrived. The place is quaint and casual vibe. There is a bar at the restaurant. It's clean and decorated nicely. Cute outdoor area in the back of the restaurant. We ordered quickly due to timing. I ordered the secret appetizer platter with fried chicken wings, shrimp, and spring rolls. My friends ordered fried rice and shrimp pad Thai. The food was ok...tasty! Portions are plentiful. For drinks Thai iced tea and a beer. Thai iced tea was delicious. The prices are reasonable. Parking is available in the rear.

We went to have soups but it was disappointing. Tom yum soup was too salty, they are stuff came and fixed it and Tom khai soup with tofu wasn’t good. Either they overfried the tofu or it’s too old. I put 3 just of mango salad. We want to order more than we realize our next table ordered fried rice and some other stuff but they didn’t finish their food. Then we didn’t try anything else. Thai is my favorite food but disappointed this time.

This place sucks. I ordered calamari and they were not fresh. It was extremely breaded and crispy. I was able to snap the calamari into pieces. I do not recommend. I also ordered margaritas. Cheap tequila was used for $13. After complaining about the calamari it wasn’t even reduced off my bill. Not going there again.

The Secret is... It's Not Thai!!! Owner had replied to my review, and I totally disagree!! As a chef, you should give your customers what they expect, not what you think is right… with Thai food, you should at the very least ask- how spicy would you like… not assume that a customer cannot have spicy foods! It’s insulting to me.. I'm torn. Truly, utterly torn. I had such high hopes for this place, especially with all the glowing reviews. The secret is out, and it’s a big, fat letdown. Let me start with the good, because there's a lot of it. The moment you walk in, the atmosphere is charming and the staff is genuinely kind. Our server was attentive and kind. The plates that came out were nothing short of art—beautifully presented with a clear emphasis on fresh, high-quality ingredients. The portions are also incredibly generous; my plate felt like it could feed a small family. And let's be real, the food tastes good. The Duck was cooked perfectly, the vegetables were crisp, and the sauce was well-balanced and savory. So what's the problem? The secret is, this food isn't Thai. At all. It's like Thai food went on a vacation to the Midwest and forgot its passport. Every dish we ordered—from the curry to the pad thai—lacked the foundational pillars of Thai cuisine: the aromatic complexity of lemongrass, the sharp tang of lime, and most importantly, the fire of chili. We asked for "Thai spicy," and what we got was a dish that a one year-old could handle. It was, in a word, bland. The flavors were so muted that they were almost unrecognizable. It’s a complete and total bait-and-switch. It’s frustrating because the potential is there. The ingredients are top-notch, the service is wonderful, and the presentation is beautiful. But without the authentic flavors and, let's be honest, the spice, it's just another well-prepared but ultimately boring meal. I wish I could give it more stars, but for a restaurant that markets itself as "secret Thai," the lack of genuine Thai flavor is an unforgivable offense. It’s proof that sometimes you just can’t trust the hype.
