Beautiful beachside cafe and retail shop located on Pier Ave in a historic building.. they have a beautiful patio and also a small dining room inside. Enter left for cafe, right for retail store.. excellent baked goods, sandwiches, salads, and plenty of great beverage selections. The egg white breakfast burrito was veggies rather than the typical breakfast meats and it was great. The chicken breast sandwich on the buckwheat bread was toasted to perfection and super tasty. The atmosphere is very charming beachside historic and reminds you of the age of Hermosa Beach.. original flooring and trim have been preserved from one of the oldest original buildings in town. The service was friendly and efficient with honest recommendations and everyone came out fast and perfecto even though they were nice and busy on a Saturday. Gum Tree is a great place to sit and relax, have a nice meal or a snack, shop for cool and unique housewares, gifts and beach related treasures. Located on the south side of Pier Ave between Monterey and Manhattan.

Beautiful place. Very clean. Coffee was very good and so was the Avocado toast. After trying to find a decent coffee that serves a mug and not a carton cup for rwo days finally landed here. Highly recommended.

Such a charming spot in Hermosa Beach! I stopped in to browse and was blown away by the beautifully curated selection of gifts, home decor, and accessories. Everything feels thoughtfully chosen, with a coastal, laid-back vibe that perfectly matches the area. The shop is bright, inviting, and a great place to find unique treasures. I didn’t try the café, but the space looked just as welcoming. A must-visit if you’re in the neighborhood!

Sweet little shop with super cute housewares and kitchen items as well as things for kids. The cafe is right next door and has quite a variety especially for how small it is. The service is very friendly, very fast and the food we tried was delicious! The Aussie beef pie was so good we drove across town to get it again the next day!

A really outstanding pairing of home/gift/design shop with a small-but-mighty café and coffee shop. It’s enough to make me want to move to Hermosa Beach and live close enough to Gum Tree that it could be my go to coffee shop and the place I buy all my gifts for friends, loved ones [and myself let’s be real]. If I had something like this on the Hollywood side of town, I’d spend most of my income at it!! In terms of the café: I had the iced lavender latte and it was divine. Too much and those can taste more like soap than like a delicious coffee. Theirs is phenomenal. In terms of the shop: from the kids section to the cooking section to the jewelry and the clothes - this is one of the better curated boutiques anywhere in greater LA or the South Bay. And I thought the prices were largely really reasonable. Some pricier things, as is fair, and lots of options to hit other price points too.

The food, drinks and atmosphere were charming! Very much enjoyed my latte and veggie sandwich. Obvious that a little love was sprinkled on the food just before serving!

I love the location of this spot! The girls that worked here looked like a couple of badasses, I love their style! We got here right before they closed the kitchen & didnt even realise it! My husband had a chicken beet salad & it came with more chicken than I was expecting, yet less beets than I was expecting... nonetheless, it was delicious! I had a vanilla breve latte with light foam & it was made perfectly! I opened it to add my usual raw sugar & the foam was in a heart shape, beautiful! I also had a mushroom omelette sandwich with a side of fruit.

All of our orders also came with a side of fruits, which left us feeling very healthy :-). When we were finished we cleaned our own table - not sure if that’s expected or not as we did it out of courtesy.

Coffee is really good. Recently renovated nice and quite chill spot. Patio outside is very comfy as well.

Really enjoyed my time in the Cafe and their incredible gift shop. Very friendly group and great to support a local visit. Have the Americano and Oatmeal with fruit

Edit: I received a phone call from the owner regarding this issue and we resolved it. I very much appreciate the follow up and will now feel comfortable returning. I purchased two sets of earrings on 12/19. One of the sets was the “small spike huggie hoop earrings 18 kg vermeil”. They cost $68 dollars and I put them on immediately. As I do with all hoop earrings I wear I took them off every night and back on in the mornings. By the third day of wearing them one had fallen off and gotten lost and by the fifth day the other had. I’m extremely disappointed in the quality of the clasp on these earrings, even cheaper pairs of hoops I have owned didn’t come loose as quickly as these. I came in in person to see if anything could be done and the associates took my phone number to pass along to the owner or manager. I told them that it would be enough for me if he/she is simply alerted to the quality control issue. Unfortunately I never received a call or email regarding this and so I am posting this review. It is unlikely I will purchase from this store again.

Love this coffee shop. The coffee is really good, it’s a great place to sit and relax, and the vibe is super chill. Nice view, friendly staff, and overall a perfect spot to hang out and enjoy the moment.

The ahi tuna sandwich was good but my friend didn’t like the Chinese chicken salad at all. The chicken was dry and not enough dressing. The drinks were good and the service was nice.

Nothing special with the exception of eating in Hermosa Beach, laid back unlike my neighborhood. The sandwiches were decent, actually pretty good. The help always looks a little stressed, most of the time marginally friendly. The clientele reflected the high income neighborhood complete with aviator sunglasses and this week's boot fashion (full retail, wouldn't be caught dead wearing something that they picked up from a sale). That always provides good entertainment, especially if you're bored.

Now the bad. My matcha latte was incredibly watery and flavorless. The quinoa salad with chicken tasted so bland. There was barely any dressing, and the chicken was SO dry. I paid $30 for this and felt so scammed. They had internet for customers, limited to 1 hour, but it was unusably slow. In-flight wifi is faster than their internet. Definitely would not come back.
