Ramen Tatsu-ya was a place that provided a quick and satisfying dinner. We stumbled here by playing restaurant roulette and it was a delicious experience. The service was prompt and the food was presentable and tasty. Come here if you're in search of flavorful ramen and good service.

This place is really really good. Excellent Ramen! The flavors were amazing and the broth was magnificent. It was very rich and flavorful. The karage chicken and the Gyoza was also really really good. Overall, I am very happy with this place. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area!

May 2022 - I went for the annual, excellent smoked brisket shoy-yu ramen, which I wish they would add to the regular menu. The post-pandemic (May 2022) inside dining is back to normal. They kept the one entrance/separate exit but all other aspects are pre-pandemic. That means lining up to order from the counter with very prompt seating and delivery of food. Staff are excellent, and they are working very hard to make this the place to eat Houston's best ramen! Original review - 2018 - By far my favorite Ramen restaurant. The Tonkotsu broth is amazing and the Munchie Katsu sliders are very good. An awesome space and the staff were extremely polished and very helpful. I have an 6-year old daughter, and they made sure she was very well seated and taken care of (her favorite dish is the Chashu (braised pork belly) rice bowl). My tip - take a cab and avoid driving there if at all possible, or visit during off-peak hours. Parking is very limited at the restaurant and the surrounding neighborhood.

First time trying this place and it was probably the best meal I’ve had in a while. I got the mi-so-hot with a fire in the bowl bomb. It was so spicy with the habanero 🔥 it was also reasonably priced for the portion size! I’m already looking forward to going back once the weather cools down.

Excellent Ramen food. We absolutely enjoyed our food. I got #3 (Miso-Not) with the chili paste on the side and extra egg (their eggs are AWSOME) and Kikuraje (mushrooms) for $14. My wife got #6 (chicken broth) which (we both agreed) was not as good as mine. Mine was creamy and tasty, but I didn't like the chicken fat taste in #6. Their spicy Edamame was very good too. Fair portion and price.

The place is delicious. The food was incredibly well prepared. It’s also one of the places that seems best prepared for safety in regards to COVID, they have serious wall protectors throughout the store. Parking is a bit tight in the tiny lot and I would 100 recommend getting a reservation before (it gets busy, because it’s delicious and tons of people want to eat there)! Great service, great food, great experience.

A giant lucky cat was beckoning us from the corner of California and Ridgewood in Montrose. I got a classic chicken broth and my dinner partner went for the spicy pork. They were both absolutely delicious. This is not your typical bowl of ramen. Garnished with a slice of soy glazed pork belly, soft boiled egg and a slice of nori. Chopped scallions float atop my clear chicken soup and atop her creamy pork broth. We slurped and enjoyed the Japanese surroundings. We were so glad we tried the pan fried brussel sprouts WOW 😳 how could they be so good!

best ramen in Houston and it's not even close. I always get the spicy miso, the broth is incredible- addictingly rich, salty and spicy. Huge servings too so I always have leftovers

You might think you’re ready for this level or coziness, tastiness, and happiness that comes together with this place. But you’re not. No worries, none of us were. Hehe. My gf and I have been coming here for years and we don’t see that changing any time soon. Her fav is the mi so hot, and mines is the tsukemen. Their seasonal items are great too! What you see in the picture below is the Mt. Fujiro which is one of their new items. Just know that the food here is delicious, the people who work here are awesome, and the setting makes you feel like you’ve left Houston and gone to ramen heaven. Just go. You and your belly can thank me later. 😏 🍜

Not my favorite Ramen but it is good. I prefer a bit more fatty broth but that's a subjective thing it's definitely worth the money. Good beer.

The food is always amazing here no matter what I order and it comes out so quickly! The staff is super friendly and helped to explain some items on the menu. I cannot recommend this place enough! I will definitely be back!!!!

This has become my go-to Ramen lunch spot when I'm working downtown. I wanted to try the menu a bit before leaving a review, but I've really gotten stuck on the OG Ramen (with a spicy bomb). edit: Incredibly consistent and delicious.

What a lovely place for tsukemen. We are from San Antonio and have not been able to find tsukemen anywhere. We love ramen and have heard good things about it. Since we were going to houston for the weekend we decided to give it a try. We were definitely not disappointed. The broth was rich and flavorful and coated the noodles perfectly. It was a flavor I've never had before. The slider app and fried pork patty app was also amazing. This place had me so excited I was gleeful. The hot green tea was great and my boyfriend got a hibiscus alcoholic drink that he loved. The decor was so trendy and felt warm and inviting with all the wood. I loved the huge kitty up front welcoming you. You order by scanning the qr code which opens up a menu. Then you order and pay for what you want that way. It was so easy to use and convenient. All in all it was an a+++ experience. I'm so glad they have one in Austin because that is closer to us. I can't wait to go back again.

Dine in or eat out, Ramen Tatsu-ya will absolutely make you feel something on the inside (it’s been a while). The tonkatsu served up incredibly flavorful yet light broth with chewy, creamy noods, paired with exceptionally flavored meat. I get it, you might see the same somewhat generic description for any Tonkotsu ramen around town. I’ll just keep this next part simple - the Tsukemen is the best in Houston and it’s not even close. I swear I shed 1 tear when I tasted it for the first time. I was so stingy on the dip I might have gotten 3 diff noodle orders out of that broth. Eyes watering as I write just thinking about it. Keep changing lives my friend. I’ll Tatsu-ya soon.

First. There wasn't a line on a Tuesday night. We got our food super fast and got the waiter take us to our table with our drinks. Super awesome. Food was delicious 👌. I added extra noodles which was half the portion I'm the bowl for $1.50.

Tatus-ya is a well decorated and bright spot to grab some great Ramen. The broth had a ton of flavor from the long process of making it. Utilizing bone broth gives it a thicker texture and a full deep flavor. The egg was cooked to perfection. I have 0 complaints about my visit. Friendly staff and also very clean. Prices are also very reasonable! Lots of options that all looked great as I saw them come out.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My husband is a native Houstonian and has raved on & on about this restaurant since I moved to Texas almost two years ago. Due to the pandemic, we mostly cooked for ourselves at home - but now we've began to venture out after having moved to the surrounding area and I am so pleased that my husband decided to treat me to the adventure that is Ramen Tatsu-ya! The ambience is perfect, the staff are polite and attentive, everything is kept very clean, you can tell they do their best to keep an adequate distance between their guests - the dining area is very convenial - you can tell they are taking proper precautions to keep everyone safe, and last but most definitely not least - food is SO good! SO GOOD! 🍜🤗❤️ Also, if you are a fan of art or murals - this is the culinary spot for you! Not only is the restaurant absolutely gorgeous both inside and out, the bathrooms are spectacular! If any of the staff are reading my lengthy review - thank you so much for the amazing food and service! If you have read this far into my review and are not in the process of making plans to go, you're totally missing out! ☮️💟🍜 Kayla (1 appetizer + 2 entrees + 2 alcoholic beverages + matcha tea = $60-ish BEFORE gratuities.)

After looking for a year for a nice ramen spot after our local favorite closed during the pandemic, we finally found a suitable replacement! What we love about this place is the thick, flavorful, fatty broth rich with aroma! The noodles aren’t the bland, soggy noodles you’ll find at most ramen shops, but nice with a good bite to them. Great spot with plenty of bowl options and toppings.

Great atmosphere and fast service!! The ramen and matcha iced tea were delicious! They have a small parking lot which was great since we didn’t have to look for street parking. Highly recommend!

Came here with friends and it was a good time!! The staff was very nice and very friendly, atmosphere was very nice and inviting, and the food was really good! The only thing is the food was very lukewarm, and could have been hotter. Heads up, the parking lot can get very crowded every easily. The food itself can also be a bit pricey too, so just keep that in mind!

I don't normally post reviews or ever have anything to speak out about when it comes to dining in, but I can honestly say that this is one of the better establishments that truly care about their customer input and satisfaction. My husband and I go religiously every week and usually get the tsukemen. We aren't big on bringing up inconsistencies with our meals at any restaurant since we aren't the type to complain about things. But the ONE time we felt that something was off about the broth (it was more sour and than usual) and brought it to their attention, they immediately swapped out our meal for a completely better tasting broth. On top of that, they were super friendly and asked what the issue was in order to improve the quality from their end. We will for sure continue to make our weekly visits! The tsukemen is still, hands down, one of the best here and would recommend it to anyone.

I like the ramen and the staff are always happy the price is good. If I needed to complain about anything it would be the ramen is never hot enough. Not spicy but always a little warm but never steaming.

We love this place for casual date nights. Service is consistent and always fast, whether during week days or peak time on weekends. Have been here 4 times and the food is always 10/10. Highly recommend trying out the different flavor bombs to enhance the ramen. If you order appetizers, know that the ramen comes out so fast you might end up getting appetizers towards the end of your meal.

Awesome authentic Japanese ramen spot with quick service. Super cool atmosphere and interior design. Ramen came out quick and flavor was spot on. Rich and flavorful broth. Tasty ingredients. No need to order “bomb” add ons- broth is already perfect! Especially the OG Tonkotsu. Can also recommend the mi-so-hot

So we went to Ramen Tatsu-ya for lunch last Thursday and it was absolutely wonderful. For appetizers, we ordered the fried pork goyza and their Karaage chicken. Both plates were magnificent, the Karaage was well seasoned and crispy, and the dipping sauce complemeted the chickens flavors to perfection. The goyza was uber fresh and perfectly cooked. As main dsihes, we ordered the Tsukemen and Sho-yu tonkotsu ramens, and they were both sublime. Both noodles were super fresh and cooked on the right side of perfect. The Tsukemen's broth was thick and luscious with deep, complicated flavors that teased the palates' perceptions. While the Sho-yu's broth was creamy, silky, and bold while encompassing all the plates ingredients in every mouth full. To drink, we had their iced Macha, which was fantasic and was just what we needed to round up the meal. Overall, it was a fantastic meal. At an awesome venue, I highly recommend this restaurant to any ramen aficionado. P.S. their staff is the bomb!

If you're in Houston and craving ramen, run—don’t walk—to this spot! Their spicy miso ramen is hands down the best I’ve ever had. Packed with rich, deep flavor and just the right amount of heat, every spoonful is absolute perfection. The broth is bold and savory, the noodles have the perfect chew, and the toppings are fresh and generous. It’s hard to find a bowl that hits all the right notes, but this place nails it. Whether you're a spice lover or just looking for something soul-warming and delicious, this is your spot. Easily my go-to ramen joint in Houston now. 10/10 recommend!

I've been seeing a lot of Instagram posts about this restaurant and decided to try it. I was not disappointed! If you're getting reservations, make sure you schedule them early because we saw Friday night reservations disappear on the website in 5 minutes. Also it's a cash free environment so bring cards! Pros: THE RAMEN IS DELIGHTFUL!!! The broth is tasty and the veggies are fresh! The prices are reasonable and there's a plenty of options on the menu. The inside decor was beautiful! Cons: you are seated very close to other people and have to sit opposite of your other party member. The parking lot is designed a bit weird and doesn't fit much so you have to get there early.

The Ramen and drinks are excellent. The service is amazing and the decoration is really cool. The bartender came to me when I was waiting in line and he even got my drink before I got to the cashier. I tried the bae-zilla drink but all drinks look amazing. Definitely coming back

Really liked the place, the ramen was delicious. The staff was very friendly, they were happy to provide suggestions and we were not disappointed by there offerings, they even offered the training chopsticks for the first time users 😂. The potstickers were also delicious. They also had a wide variety of selection of beers on the tap. That was a surprisingly good. Their cocktails selection was minimal, and looked good but I stuck with the beer. Will definitely be back for more and they had few things on the menu I would want to try next time I visit other than ramen. Like there curry bowls.

So... run me that "Miso Hot" its delicious... probably the best broth I have had in the city. The atmospher, easily the most creative... I know this sounds crazy, but check out the bathroom too.

Overall experience was great. Usually have to order food in line first and will be provided a number to where they'll bring your food. Service here is quick. (Less than 5min wait in between sitting down, drink and food being brought). First time here and decided to order the one of their best sellers: Tsukmen (which i would have to say the broth is amazing) Also ordered: Spicy Edamame (it was alright. Wouldn’t say it was spicy, had more of a sweet chili taste to it.), Croquette (suuuuper crispy and thick)

Well, all I can say is it was awesome, I mean, look at the empty bowls! The guys at the counter were super helpful and extremely nice. I've never eaten here before. Therefore, I asked for recommendations. We can in at 1pm on a Friday thinking we would have to wait. Simply walked in and within a few minutes my food was served. Not sure what is in this lemon chill, but dam its good and im ready for another

There have been a change in menu, at least a slight bit. There have been a few off nights where the ramen wasn't as rich, but all-in-all, still happy with the food and service. --- We frequent Tatsu-Ya about twice weekly. We finally tried it out about 3 months ago and have been consistent patrons ever since. Staff is cool and friendly. The tables are always clean. I loooove their Ramen. I'd say the OG is my favorite (with added spice). The dumplings are also well made and tasty.. we've also had it to-go and they do a thoughtful job with packaging and serving size. Some of the tables are communal, just fyi. My only complaint is parking. The lot is small, and everything else is residential street parking, which fills up quickly. Definitely recommended. My only issue is the communal seating. Many of us don't want to be shoulder to shoulder on a busy night. There are several tables that have more room, but they go first. Plenty of times, I've walked in and right back out.

A fairly traditional style of ramen. I loved it. The noodles were perfect and the broth was rich in flavor. I didn't see anything particularly innovative and to me that's perfectly fine. The food made me happy and the atmosphere and staff were lovely.

Overall this place was great. Food was delicious only and the service was fast. For some it may be confusing when you arrive. Their process is they have you order, then pay and then you wait to be seated... which was quick. It's the first time I've seen that process but I enjoyed the process because once your done you can leave when your ready. We ate Gyoza as a starter (forgot to take a picture) but they are steamed then seared on a pan to give it a crunch. We ordered the #3 and #4. #4 is basically #3 but the spicy version. Overall the portion was great and the broth had amazing flavor. For people who don't eat Ramen there broth is pork based which is richer then others. It's not for everyone but in my opinion has more flavor so I was very happy with the flavors. If you want to "up" your experience they offer flavor bombs to add a little something special. I wanted to try the broth but next time I'll try for sure. Now the one negative... it didn't affect us but I have to give the full experience to give a fair review. We received our starter and drinks quickly but noticed minutes turned into 10 minutes then 10 minutes turned into 20 minutes. This wouldn't be an issue but every person who sat and ordered after us received their meals. So I spoke with a staff member to inquire about our ramen. The manager then came to the table and apologized stating the ticket was misplaced and they were making the food and would be brought out immediately. After that we received our food within 5 minutes. No big deal to us because to me it was still fast BUT if we had not said anything how long would we have waited. The manager did apologize and did offer an item on the house. Overall he handled it like a professional and because of that I still stick with 5 stars. Just be mindful and make sure to pay attention. I highly recommend you visit this place. I'll definitely go back!

I liked that it wasn’t off the busy street, it was more in a neighborhood which was nice. Good amount of parking. Low-fi beats were playing inside and there was natural light/low-lighting inside which made it feel cozy and chill. Ramen was great! Quick service too! Would definitely come back! 🍜

Incredibly food with a fun atmosphere! I am such a fan of Ramen Tatsu-ya from the food, vibe, music, and people; it's an all-around great experience. The staff is helpful and kind, making your time here more enjoyable. Make sure you give yourself time when eating here to enjoy yourself, and the bathrooms are beautiful and always clean. The only downside is the drinking water is horrible and smells. (thankfully, I had a great beer as well). I love everything about it! #6+MillionViews

My friend came into town last night and she was craving some good ramen. So we looked for something close by and found this place. I really loved the lucky cat when you first pull up. Now you have to be careful when trying to locate this place because Google maps wasn't that reliable when trying to get to the correct street so we had to turn around once. So when you walk in you will the menus along the wall and you selected the bowl you want. They have general bowls numbered and you just add on the additional ingredients you want to add. The ramen tasted so fresh and the broth was perfect. They do have some beers, but i would get the slush of the lemon/cucumber or the strawberry lemonade.

This is my favorite ramen spot since I was in college. Small parking lot so it could be packed during the rush hour. The interior is very cool and unique, especially the restroom haha. The staffs are friendly and nice. I always ordered the Tonkatsu Shoyu with fire in a bomb (spicy paste) on the side. This always hit the spot. This time i also ordered the chicken karage, which is okay, not really impressed me much. The charsiu bowl is better in my opinion. But i love Ramen Tatsuya no matter what. Highly recommend!

Ramen Tatsu-ya is easily one of the best noodle places I've ever been to 🍜. From the moment you arrive, the experience begins with the eye-catching decor. The giant cat at the entrance is not only fun but an Instagram-perfect photo spot 🐱📸. Every corner of the restaurant, even the bathrooms, has an artsy, cool vibe that adds to the atmosphere. It’s a place that’s as visually exciting as it is delicious. Now, let’s talk about the food. The ramen here is simply incredible! The flavors are rich and savory, with a variety of options to suit different tastes 🍜. Whether you like it spicy or mild, they’ve got you covered. The portions are just right—not too overwhelming, but still enough to satisfy, and you can easily share dishes if you're with friends. They don’t have a specific kid’s menu, but the staff is great about recommending suitable dishes for the little ones 👶. For starters, I highly recommend the dumplings and the pork dish that looks like boneless chicken (the *chashu* pork belly, if I’m not mistaken) 🥟🍖. Both are incredibly flavorful and make the perfect beginning to your meal. The restaurant usually isn’t overly crowded, which is nice because you can enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. Plus, they have plenty of parking 🅿️, so you don’t have to worry about finding a spot—a rare bonus in busy areas! The only downside is that the service can be a bit slow at times. While the staff is friendly, there’s definitely room for improvement in terms of attentiveness. That said, the food more than makes up for it. The ramen is worth the wait, and if you have guests in town, this is definitely a place to take them for a unique, delicious dining experience. If you love ramen or just want to try something new, Ramen Tatsu-ya is a must-visit in the city.

Very tasty ramen, I really love it when the boiled egg is marinated as good as this one. The pork broth was the best one I've tried so far. Gyozas are ok, I would go here specifically for the ramen.

Such a great spot with a peaceful environment. the food is amazing there is nothing I haven’t ordered I didn’t like. When I’ve wanted more meat the side order is 3.50 and good enough to add to 3 bowls depending on how much you’d like. My favorite thing is the service Sunshine is a sweetheart and everyone else is also so attentive and sweet.

Best ramen in Houston! I always get the #1 OG Tonkotsu — the egg is perfect, and I ask for the chashu pork on the side, extra cooked so it’s crispy, plus goma pork inside. I also get a spicy bomb on the side. The location is great, but the parking is honestly terrible, some of the worst in the city. Still, the food is absolutely worth it every time. Btw, the music is top tier!

This is our go to Ramen place! It never disappoints. We went on Saturday for my birthday and saw they had a new Ramen called Texas Tonk that I had to try. This ramen hits different, smoky broth, the noodles have the perfect chew, tender brisket...every topping just works and of course, the egg seals the deal. 10/10 would slurp again. Definitely a Texas flavor.

We tried the Curry Nu Skool ramen (vegan with fire in a bowl bomb), Mi-So-Hot (pork), gyozas (pork) and Karaage (fried chicken) and it was all delicious. Paid ~$50 USD for two people, no alcohol. The pork ramen is more flavorful but the vegan ramen is also delicious. The gyozas were my personal favorite. Nice open space and the staff is very accommodating. Great experience.

OG Ramen at Tatsuya is always a solid choice. The broth is super rich and flavorful, noodles have great texture, and the pork is tender and delicious. Everything just works really well together. The vibe is chill, service is fast and friendly, and the food is consistently good. Definitely one of my go-to ramen spots in Houston. 🍜

This place has great vibe and the food was good. I just wish they have a little more selections on the ramen, but that's okay. Its not often I go to a ramen place that is not in Chinatown to find them offering the dipping ramen so that was great. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the food and would come back.

BEST RAMEN to date! And a perfect dining experience- they had our food out in a few minutes and it was hot and fresh. The vibes were really cool and it was perfect for hanging out w friends. The ramen had such a rich flavor and the broth was so creamy! I got the original tonkotsu pork and everything abt it was amazing! The pork was perfectly seared and juicy, the egg was nice and jammy, and the broth was truly memorable. MUST try, worth traveling any distance!

I am obsessed with this place, I have gone over 30 times in the past year and it never disappoints. It hits the spot every single time. They are consistent. Atmosphere is nice, always playing bangers. Service is fast. My favorite ramen is the OG with goma and corn.

I found the OG Tatsu-ya in Austin back in 2017 when I worked nearby. Since then I've eaten at Ramen Tatsu-Ya literally hundreds of times. It's the best thing I've ever eaten in my life. Reviewers giving this place less than 5 stars are ordering the wrong things. You have two choices here: #4, the mi-so-hot or #5 the Tsukemen. I'm very glad that they've gone back to the original tsukemen recipe. There was a period where it wasn't so great. I live in New England now and have eaten ramen all over the world. I've tried every ramen place from Boston to Bangor and none even come close to Tatsu-Ya. I've had ramen in S. Africa, Austria, France, Spain, et. al. and there is a large gap between Tatsu-Ya and 2nd best (maybe Anju Noodle Bar in Kittery, ME). Mi-so-hot is my default. It's always good. Consistent between Tatsu-ya locations and over time. The chashu is excellent. The ajitama is by far the best I've ever had. Brussel sprouts go so well with the broth; trust me on this. When I go back to the Houston area to visit family, I get several bowls to go (thankfully they started offering to-go during covid, before that it wasn't an option), freeze them, and bring them back in a cooler in my checked bag.

I've eaten here very frequently, probably at least once every 2 months because my kids like it so much. Much. This is a modern ramen restaurant and come expecting bowls full of fat, sweet, spicy, salty, or a mix of three. All of their options are very delicious and nothing is healthy except for probably their edamame. The atmosphere feels like a nice trendy restaurant in keeping with all of the other restaurants on that block and their servers have always been very nice and accommodating to me and my family. Be sure to take some pictures with the big happy cat outside!

Fantastic Ramen spot. Broth is flavorful and ingredients tasted fresh. My wife and I got the OG and Sho-yu, with Brussels sprouts added in. Both soups were excellent. Lunch service was very fast (orders out <15 min after we sat down). Cute spot, plenty of seating. Parking is plentiful for a Montrose location. Will definitely return to try more of the menu.

My favorite ramen in Texas without a doubt!! Excellent flavors both traditional and with a flair. Casual setting and fast service similar to many ramen places I've eaten in Japan. Whether you're a die hard ramen lover or have never tried ramen before, this place is a MUST TRY!! Great spot for a quick lunch, casual date, or dinner with a group of friends.

My Friends and I Stopped by Here Before Billiards Pool and Everyone said it was Great, Awesome and Absolutely Delicious. The Spice Adds Flavor with a Kick but no Serious Burn, its Tastefully Spicy. Chill Staff and Pretty Nice Set up inside would Defenitely Reccommend to Others who Dig Ramen!

I've being hearing a lot about this place so I had to check it out as my duty as a foodie. I must say I was Not disappointed, the staff is very personable, helpful and knowledgeable about their offerings and made some good suggestions. The space is really nice for having large group gatherings at both of the communal tables as well as solo seating if your coming to slurp up a few noodles on your own at the bar area. I highly recommend this place for the food, atmosphere, decor and the music is awesome! P.S. Order extra noodles, egg and don't be a wimp and try the spicy hot paste which truly complements the broth. Happy Eats!! ;-)

The atmosphere here is really great and it makes at least half of the experience. The ramen was really good though I would suggest adding a flavor bomb to yours if you like seasoning. The broth had a really good flavor though it was pretty subtle. Overall it was a great experience.

food here is great! however there’s only pork options or vegan, u can ask to take out the pork though! No ramen with chicken in it. Would be amazing if they had more variety for that! they have a self serve area that has water and bowls/bags for to-go which is really nice. the broths for their ramen is amazing. (bring a jacket if you get cold easily, it’s cold in here but the ramen will warm you up)

The ladies at the counter were super nice and patient while I was trying to decide what to get. The food is good, the broth is really rich and delicious. The decor is awesome. They don't have sweet cocktails, which is my preference, but the drink I got was mild and refreshing. I'd get it again.

Decent food + friendly staff, but lacking service when dining in. Once you are seated, you scan the QR code to order and pay right from mobile device at your table. I liked that efficient part of it (payment wise). However, if your experience was like mine you better know what you want because you'll never see anyone again after your food is brought out- you'll have to flag someone down for more water or if you want to add anything to your order. Food: mi-so-hot ramen. Solid ramen selection with a decent amount of toppings & good portions. It was hearty and filling. However, it did not remind me of the same taste when I first tried it in Austin a while back (like 2-3 years ago). Maybe their recipe is different now- it was still good nonetheless. Interior- loved the decor and vibes. Spacious/good amount of seating and does not feel crowded. This is a great spot to hang with a friend or or even just solo. I've also had a good experience ordering to go. Overall, I would recommend a visit and would return as well.

My friend and I hadn’t seen each other in a few years, and we chose this place to catch up. That said, Ramen Tatsu-ya is already a special place. They have an efficient process to get orders and patrons seated. Only full parties are seated, so there’s no wait time. It’s obvious the seating arrangements were laid out to accommodate a variety of diners. There are seats for the solo diner that appear to have plenty elbow room as well as the option for community seating. This alone gave me the impression that the owners had considered a customary Japanese approach that was also suitable to average Texan. I ordered the mi-so-hot. It was an appropriate amount of a very savory heat that didn’t mask the broth and other ingredients. The noodles weren’t very chewy, so I can only assume it’s not hand-pulled. Not a big deal though. I’m writing this review weeks later, and the overall flavor is still memorable. My only gripe would be the bathrooms. Going from the modern dining area to the bathroom felt like stepping into a back alley or dive bar.

So after visiting good number of ramen places in Houston, I wanted to see if the place lives up to the hype. Upon entering the store, I was surprised that this is order at the counter type of place where you pay at the front and they'll bring the food to your table. They even had the chilled bottle cokes. The food is pretty affordable. We had the OG ramen and spicy miso ramen. The noodle was thin and perfect for the tonkotsu broth. The broth was lighter than expected, and toppings were somewhat minimalistic. I liked spicy miso, it had just right amount of spice in it so I can still taste the rich miso in the broth. Croquette is no ordinary either, it had tuna flakes instead of potato fillings. Overall, I have to say another place of my favorite had an edge over this place - mainly the depth of flavor in broth. Water had some weird taste to it.

It’s the closest ramen to us and it hits the spot when we have a craving. I like the tonkotsu but OG and miso are pretty good too. The cucumber limeade is my favorite drink off their menu

Amazing service. Good atmosphere. The man taking the order is very friendly. Only issue is that I think the portion size (I got the number one) has too little meat but other than that great flavor.

Went to check out the hype. The place was clean, and it had a good vibe. The music playing was hip hop, really hit well at least for me. The food was really good, portions being well sized for the price. Staff was friendly. The only thing they didn't have was chicken ramen, the only type I saw was pork fyi. All in all, it was a good experience that would have me coming back.

We drove in hoping to find a new ramen restaurant worth its salt. Unfortunately, not an above average meal / experience. I had the OG Tonkatsu. Flavor was good, but only one slice of pork. This is the first time I have seen only one little slice of pork in a bowl, and I eat a lot of ramen at places like Tamashi, Jinya (for the wife), etc... as we live close to Asia town. The wife did not like the flavor of the vegan option (Nu Skool). Edmame were fine. Staff was friendly. No spoons at table...not a big deal. Waited on a couple after our dishes arrived. The restaurant itself is rustic...plywood and such and a bit drafty, but nothing terrible. Overall, meh....

This place is in downtown Houston, so if you want to eat here, make sure to come during non-peak hours. Or, prepare to wait. You purchase your food first at the register, with a choice to buy more noodles during your visit. Make sure to know what you want before you go in. We ordered The OG and the Tsukemen along with a Korokkaaayyy (croquette). The OG (tonkatsu) had a deep full-flavored broth that coated the noodles well. I thought it was pretty good. 4 out of 5 stars. The Tsukemen was a dry noodle with a thick gravy broth. You dip the noodles into the thick broth to coat and then eat. It was a little sour for my taste, but the hub's thought it tasted fine, so it's all about preference. 3 out of 5 stars You do have a choice to make either spicy, but since it was our first time, we wanted to try the broths by itself. The croquette, on the otherhand, was ok. A little dry for me, even with the sauce. 2 out of 5 stars. Service could have been better. We put our orders in but the person doing the ordering did not ring up my dish. We waited at least 15 minutes before I waved someone to ask about my order. I do give them points for trying to rectify the problem by giving the dish to me at no cost. Unfortunately, they sat us in the corner and was pretty much ignored most of the time. At the end of our meal, we were waiting for the check to pay for the extra noodles we had ordered. Again, we had to wave someone to ask for the check just to be told that they had given the noodles to us at no cost. Although I am grateful that we were given a meal and noodles for free, I feel that these mistakes could have been prevented. Giving away food due to mistakes can be costly to the restaurant in the long run. My advice is to hire employees who are willing to deal with your customers.

This restaurant looks very clean, trendy and has a great vibe. I ordered the miso hot ramen and also the pork gyoza. I'm going to be really honest... even tho the restraunt was super cool and very good service I did not really enjoy the ramen. After a while the broth had become a little more thick then what I'm used to. Also the noodles that they use started to get mooshy. It did not taste very good after that. The broth itself when it was at the right consistency was actually really good. The gyoza are pan fried and I did really enjoyed them. Again the service and the vibe was awesome. Maybe I should have tried something else. I recommend trying the place to see if you like it yourself. As for me I may go back or i may not. Its a coin flip for me. My friends love it by the way. Do it may just be me. The price point for the food is pretty fair. The ramen is about $13.00. When I went there was hardly anyone in the restaurant.

I ordered the old fashion ramen made with chicken broth & gyoza. (6.5 - 7 / 10) It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t the best. However, it’s close to my favorite bar so I can say if you want ramen for convenience this is the space. If you want ramen with the best of flavors and quality I would say look elsewhere. In other news, the atmosphere & staff is pretty nice and this place does have parking so if you are looking for a spacious place to enjoy decent ramen this is a spot for you.

I’m writing this review out of concern… I can yesterday around early lunch. I have been eating here for two years and order the exact same thing. The Curry any Skool…I take the mushrooms out. Yesterday it wasn’t the same. The broth was darker than its usually yellow golden color but I looked past it thinking maybe it had just been awhile since I order it. The broth did not taste the same. It tasted more like aluminum than the usual coconut ish flavor. Later in the evening I developed a headache and chills into my body fully projectiled the ramen out of my body. I have never ate here and felt this way afterwards but something is wrong. I noticed there were several new faces that I hadn’t seen before. It is possible the mixed up my broth. Either way this wasn’t normal and I’m afraid to return. For some reason the inside of my stomach was burning as if I had eaten something spicy…that ramen doesn’t have spice… I definitely think this needs to be looked into

Super salty, and flavor is masked with the salt. If I ran the Houston marathon, that’s the first place I would go to replenish my salt deficiency. Service is like a McDonald’s where you walk up to order, get your own drinks and utensil. Environment wise; Either the a/c was not working but sitting waiting for the food, I was sweating. I would try other places for ramen. There is no ambience as it felt like a country bar.

I have mixed impressions of this place. I visited here on a Saturday around 1130am, it was not too crowded yet. They had laminated menus on the side while waiting in line. I thought that was very kind of them to do that. I decided to order a #4 "mi-so-hot" tonkotsu ramen soup with extranoodles (17.50 in total) and a karaage platter (7.5). The food came fairly quickly, about 7 min. The karaage came first. It was pretty good, the chicken was marinated with some ginger and had a light batter. The mayo and chili dip was provided in an amply sized portion. Quite enjoyable. Next came the soup. The bowl I thought was a little small and I thought I didn't get the extra noodles I wanted. Turns out they were in the bowl. The ground meat was good, just plain pork. Veg is veg; crisp and fresh. Noodles were very good, firm and having a good bite to them. I just thought the extra noodles would just be more than two bites. Now to the broth. It was thick and quite creamy, obviously made over a long period of time with pork bones. I will give credit to that. What I find objectionable are two points to be made about the ingredients added to said broth. First off, I ordered what I thought was a spicy broth: it was not spicy. It was kind of peppery, but this had little heat to it. Secondly, there was a slight bitter aftertaste with the broth. I don't know it was the miso blend in it, but I found it quite disagreeable, that I had a hard time sipping the broth. In fact I did not finish it off. A photo is shown of this. My friend and I have equivalent sized bowls. He didn't order extra noodles. This led me to think about this: I should have a bigger sized bowl or have the extra noodles served separately. Either way I was cheated out of extra broth, which didn't matter in the end as we both did not finish our bowls as mentioned before. There are better ramen places and even chains to go to. Unless you really want to check off a list of ramen places to eat in this town, you can skip this one.

J
Julia

Parking was small. Broth was salty on all the ramen types we had at the table. Chili oil dumplings were somehow sweet. The food took so long to come out. And nothing was coming by table order. It looked like the food was coming by type. Like multiple tables that had karaage would get them at the same time. So everyone got their food at random times at one table. We were finished with the ramens by the time we got the smaller plates. Service was lacking because of this.

So I specifically requested a Mi-So-Not with a Lemon Lime Maine root. The entire dwelling was practically empty with only few individuals so I expected my order to be correct as well as timely. I received my Mi-So-Not bowl to go. And my perceived drink in a quick fashion from friendly staff. However, once I already left. I noticed that my drink had a spicy tone that completely threw off my eating experience. Upon checking my order. I noticed that I had been served the wrong drink. A Maine Root spicy ginger blend. Not my Lemon Lime Main Root request. It was alr As much as I like dining at this location. I expect to get what I paid for especially when there are no excuses.

I love(d) the Tsukemen served here but the menu inconsistencies over the past few months have played with my heart too much. I’ve tried to be patient and understanding when the staff blamed udon noodle supplier shortage issues and then said mgmt was “experimenting with the recipe” ultimately ending in them removing the #5 tsukemen from the menu permanently. No reason to visit here anymore. Used to be my favorite ramen place. Almost tried driving to one of their Austin locations to get my fix, but sadly it is gone everywhere. RIP

This is one of my favorite ramen spots and I come here very often, but it may not be after tonight’s experience. Ever since I introduced my mom to this spot, our usual routine is one of goes up to the counter to order while the other grabs a table since it’s open seating. As soon as I sat down, I was immediately approached by another customer and was asked with a very rude tone if I was using this table, which I then politely responded with a yes. She rolled her eyes at me and walked away. A few minutes later, that same customer approached me for a second time and this time with an employee and asked me again if this table was taken, which I again, said yes. The employee then asked me for my table marker, I told him I didn’t have one yet because my mom is next in line to order. He told me I wasn’t allowed to sit down at a table without my food or a table marker. I was removed from the table and the table was given to that same customer. She immediately sits down with a grin on her face, laughs, and says “You don’t get to sit at tables if you haven’t ordered yet” I felt ambushed, disrespected, and humiliated. As this was happening, I watched about 2 other people do the same thing, hold a table for their party. I felt like I was singled out. There is no sign anywhere in the restaurant you can’t save tables and no employees making you aware of this “policy.” Even after ordering at the counter, the only thing they make you aware of is that it is open seating.

We chose it because it had a high rating, but we were not satisfied at all. First of all, the options are limited. Even if you add the simplest hot sauce to your order, they charge you extra. I definitely won’t come again. I do not recommend it

I was excited to try this place but very disappointing. The service was bad. Staffs didn’t seem to care for customers. Pork broth was bland and luke warm, noodle was hard and weird texture. With $16+ for a bowl of ramen, this is not worth it. They claim their broth is cooked for 60hrs but I don’t taste it. When you placed a ramen order and got it served within 3 minutes, you know it’s not good.
