What a great diner experience. The staff were friendly, made sure I always had a full cup of coffee and the food was great! I'd highly recommend coming here!
Great food and the service was phenomenal. The prices were fair and we enjoyed our experience.
Sat outside for breakfast. Service was great and food was better. Had the special of eggs Benedict. Only complaint was I love the diner sausage, the larger ones. They had sausage patties. They were still good though
Our favorite breakfast spot in LG. Great food and friendly service
Good food. But very busy.
Highly Recommended. I visited two days in a row. Liked it so much the first day, I had to go the next. Excellent food from this diner. I got the Adirondack Slam the first day, and a breakfast sandwich the second. Everything was cooked to perfection and was delicious.
Great food, great service, prices aren’t bad.
My son loves going here . Yes we came 45 min before close but how long does breakfast take for 2 . We were done before the 3 tackles that came in after us , but still we knew quit clear that the servers did not think it was ok
Cute little diner with a fun atmosphere. The pancakes were good and I feel the prices are fair for the location.
I only had bacon and eggs with the home fries and after my 60 years of eating, I might say this is the perfect breakfast, everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The rye artisan toast was the bomb!
Very nice diner - fun environment and good food. Staff was friendly.
The dinner gave me this old fashioned feel which is great for a place like this, I ordered the American cheese omelet it was the best food I’ve ever tasted, and the wait was only 10 minutes.
Traditional diner staff are friendly and fast. Good was excellent
Love this place! May 4th, our usual go-to, not open yet, so we hit this iconic diner. So glad we did. The eggs Benedict was absolutely Incredible!! The Adirondack Slam, def a home run too! Colleen the waitress was sooo friendly! Coffee rocked. View of prospect mountain and down rt 9 into village, is ok...It's not on the lake, and so no view of it. But speedy service, clean, cool retro atmosphere. Wish juke boxes in booths worked, but they do play modern country tunes. Def recommend 👌
Food was good and inexpensive. Sarah was super nice
Inexpensive and pretty decent food. Great service.
It was like stepping back in time. Great service, food and prices! We will definitely be back the next time we visit the area.
Went here last Saturday. So good we came back today! Good food, good portions and a fun, friendly staff. My husband had the best crispy corned beef he's had in a while with perfectly cooked over easy eggs. I had chicken quesadillas, great portion half came home with me. And you're in Lake George... mic drop!
This is a great example of a traditional old railroad car style diner. I had sausage gravy and biscuits. The gravy was good and the biscuits were soft and big. Wife had 2 eggs, bacon, home fries, and an English muffin. Her muffin was burned in places and so were her home fries. Her eggs and bacon were done perfectly.
Waitresses were great! I wanted to modify the breakfast slightly and they did a great job. They were attentive to all the tables.
Great little diner with a friendly staff and tasty food! Best corned beef hash I've ever had.
The food and service were great. We had to wait for a table, but it was worth it. Our waitress thanked us for the being patient.
The food was amazing!!! The taste was all there, fresh and filling!! Great service and prices that are reasonable. The best place we have eaten!
Perfect diner great food, great service, fast, and delicious. I couldn't ask for anything more!
I love this place so much, it's one of the only places I can get a waffle at any time of the day and they're happy to accommodate my whipped cream on the side request. Service is always prompt and friendly and the servers are fun to chat and banter with. It's affordable, easy to get to and worth any wait. We will keep returning every year.
Wonderful experience at the Prospect mountain diner. My burger and fries were phenomenal and my husband loved their open face meatloaf sandwich. We will be back when we are in the area. Staff were incredibly nice! Their hot chocolate is fantastic, too!
Surprisingly good, but a little expensive. Would recommend as a good lunch meet up spot if you're doing a group trip to the area! Sad that the jukeboxes are display only. I wonder if they always were...
Supper cute dinner, breakfast was great . We both had gotten the omelets with homefries and toast and a side of pancakes .everything came out great . The portion size was good. The service was fast . I had no complaints at all .
Authentic diner food. Waitress was the best server. Pancake was undercooked but able to return to the kitchen with no issue. Western omelets were the best coffee refilled without asking.
So happy to eat here again!!!! Amazing food!!! You can tell it's made with love!!! My daughter and I had the breakfast burrito. Bacon egg, cheese and home fries. I added salsa. So filling. I ate HALF. Hubby had an omelet with cheese and bacon. And home fries. Amazing. Server was awesome. Everyone was great! Come EARthis food!!
Fun reminiscent diner! Really enjoyed our breakfast during our visit to the area!
Prospect MTN. Diner — conveniently staggering distance from our hotel — delivered absolute breakfast dominance: I went full warrior with eggs heroically draped over a mountain of corned beef, while my wife Linda chose golden, crispy waffles engineered for syrup excellence. Everything is homemade, on premises — not “Chef Mike the Microwave,” but real-deal, crack-the-eggs-at-dawn kind of homemade. The place has that classic vintage diner vibe, complete with those old-school jukeboxes right at the tables — they don’t actually work because apparently no one on Earth repairs them anymore — but they look fantastic, loaded with songs from back in the day like they’re just waiting for a quarter and 1978 to make a comeback. I left fueled for battle; my wife Linda left drizzled in joy and quietly superior.
Busy place, service was excellent. Our waitress was kind, helpful, and all around amazing! She deserves all the smiles in the world and a milkshake for breakfast. Great food portions, what we needed and tasted great.
food is great went there twice both times for breakfast. very affordable fast service. small establishment but the outside are helps fit more people. overall no wait in the mornings I went waiter are very nice.
Another stop and another great surprise. We had ear marked a place closer to the house but had decide to travel on as we went to Ausable. We found this place in lake George and we were not disappointed. We had a variety of items including eggs with ham and toast, hash and eggs, waffles and pancake. The pancakes were the biggest surprise to me as they had some cornmeal in there which made me think of good ol Johnny cakes. I had the chocolate chip pancakes and they were delicious. All of our food was delicious in fact. Our waitress Sara was very nice and attentive to us and we will be stopping again when we come back to the area. If you are looking for a quality breakfast that is not frilly but delicious, then you know where to go. Tell em Vin Vin sent you. I'm tryna see something. Deuecs, Vin Vin
Biscuit was a religious experience. Sausage patties were fabulous and generous. Home fries were perfect. Open face turkey sandwich was incredible. Gravy perfect. Fries perfect. Even the little extras like cranberry sauce and coleslaw were memorable. Service was fast and friendly.
It’s like stepping back in time. I’ve been going through Lake George since I was a child 50+ years ago and never stopped here because it was either closed or just too crowded. Worked out just right today, Colleen the waitress greeted me as I walked through the door Could not have been nicer and more patient with my thousand questions and she was a very efficient waitress, and Adirondack slam was just top notch
A traditional dinner in the Lake George area. Great food, great staff and a fun location. We had breakfast here on a Saturday morning in the off season. No wait and very fast service. The three of us had a veggie omelette, eggs and sausage, and a giant chocolate chip pancake! Always a great dinner and better in the off season!
Stopped here on the way home & had two wonderful breakfasts. We were so hungry I forgot to snap a picture when the food was first served! My boyfriend loved his pancakes & sausage while my eggs over easy were done to perfection! This stop was hopping at 12:00 with locals & visitors alike. The decor is that of another time when diners were abundant but this gem is wonderful with happy waitresses and everyone knew the locals by name! Kudos Stopped here Oct 3, they have some new operating hours/days closed but food was outstanding!
Run of the mill diner food. I personally think they are a little over board with the "No Sharing" and extra charge for sharing plates. Diner is very small and you can hear everything everyone is talking about. Prices are good.
Great little diner in Lake George. Food was excellent, although I felt a little short changed on the home fries on the side of my omelette or they’d have 5 stars. Whole family loved the food. About a 10 minute wait at 1030 on a Friday morning but was definitely worth it.
This us our kind of place. Our first time here and will probably go again when we come to Lake George. We were seated promptly and had our order taken shortly after. I had an omelet and hubby had the French toast. The food and coffee was hot and tasty. The staff attentive although it was crowded. Recommend
Retro diner serving breakfast usuals. Buttermilk pancakes, eggs, etc. Booths a little small for four people but do able.
Food was good, drinks was the size of kids tea set. overall good.
Good value. We stopped on for breakfast. Everything was good.
Great Food, Friendly Service, Terrible Coffee
Food was good. Kinda busy so service wasn't great but was expected.
Ate there twice. Food good service good Atmosphere kind of neat. Prices a little high but no worse than anyplace else around Lake George.
The food was fine. The service was efficient but no personal touch. It was all business.
I have driven by for so many years. Today I decided to stop. It's a charming page from yesteryear. Service was great, and the food was super. I ordered the fried haddock sandwich and could only manage half. French friens could have been a bit crispier. I'm not sure if they serve dessert, my waiter brought the check over before asking if I'd be interested. Which was too bad.
It was average at best. Hot dog was good, fries were overdone. Service was slow.
About what you'd expect from a silver car diner. The food was not bad. The atmosphere -typical, service was nice. Biggest downside was the expense of an actual breakfast that consisted of two eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast for $15.99.
It’s an okay diner. Food was ok. Our drink order was messed up, but our server was nice so we didn’t say anything. If you need a quick place for breakfast and you aren’t too picky, this diner will do.
From the moment we walked in the women at the front was pretty rude - she snapped at as to either wait inside or out "either in or out". Then we over heard her talking about her own boss right as she walked away! A customer called and asked how long it would be for a table, she was super rude on the phone, then very loudly after said "I don't have a crystal ball". I get it - i've worked in the service industry it's not east - but go talk crap in the kitchen like everyone else does. Our waitress was great- just too bad one employee could ruin it all.
Cool Authentic diner atmosphere with old style juke boxes at the table (sadly non-functional). I ordered a burger which came quite rare (the server did not ask how I wanted it cooked). They have a nice outdoor patio in the nice weather. I’m not sure if I would eat here again… maybe I’d give it one more try? The Burger didn’t sit that well but I don’t think there was anything wrong with it - just a bit too “pink and juicy” for me.
We were a party of 7 and they would not let us push 2 outside tables together. Apple juice was very watered down . Hostess was rude.
The food is decent, classic diner stuff that hits the spot, but they’ve got a fee for sharing plates that just feels unnecessary. The maple syrup is also overpriced, which seems a bit much for a diner. If you’re looking for a straightforward meal, the food is good enough, but watch out for those random extra charges. The overall experience is fine, but don’t expect anything beyond that.
We stopped at Prospect Mountain Diner for breakfast on Monday, August 11th, around 9 AM. We were a party of six (3 adults and 3 children) and had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated. The food was definitely worth the wait! It was delicious and reasonably priced for the area. We would highly recommend this diner for the food alone. The only real issue we noticed was with the staff seeming a bit disorganized. When we arrived, we asked the host outside for the first available table, but it seemed like there was a lack of communication with the host inside. There were at least two open tables we could have been seated at inside before we were finally seated outside. It also looked like there was some confusion among the waitstaff and food runners about which food went to which table. Despite these small hiccups with the service, the good food and fair prices made it a worthwhile visit. We would definitely come back for the food and hope the staff can get on the same page!
We stopped by this diner for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by how tasty the food was. The veggie omelet was fresh and flavorful, and the pancakes were fluffy and satisfying—definitely a highlight of the meal. The juice cups for kids were a thoughtful touch, and we appreciated that they provided a high chair, which made things easier for our little ones. Our main server was friendly and attentive, and the younger staff was decent, though they could work on being a bit more warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, the experience was dampened when one staff member informed us that the kids’ cheese pizza was no longer available. The way it was communicated came off as rude and dismissive, which was disappointing, especially in a family-friendly setting. Overall, good food and mostly decent service, but the staff’s attitude in situations like this makes a big difference—a little kindness goes a long way.
The food is wholesome here and hearty, but we finally decided this year at our Lake George family reunion to walk out and not return. Snide service, lots of "no's"-- no splitting checks, no substitutes, no honey, and--MOST annoying of all--no putting tables together outside. Why? That makes no sense when the outside is the perfect place for big gatherings and it wouldn't hurt anyone and we consistently offer to put the tables back. Nah, rather spend my money elsewhere more customer-friendly.
Absolutely a can miss location. Nothing special happening with the food; not bad, just pretty flavorless and boring. We've eaten here before in our frequent travels through the area and were not impressed, but it was walking distance from our hotel and after a long morning on the slopes, the geographic convenience convinced us to return. Despite only having four table counting ourselves in the whole place, service was glacial and inattentive. Had to flag down our server for everything, coffee, silverware, check, etc. Essentially she took our order and dropped off the food when it was ready, anything else we had to actively seek out assistance. The fact that she spent nearly the entirety of our meal shooting the breeze with a couple of locals at the table across from us certainly didn't help matters. It's good to take care of your regulars, but not at the expense of your other customers (another young couple who were also being ignored were loudly grumbling about the situation). The building is cute, albeit in need of a serious deep cleaning, and while the food isn't awful, there's plenty of other mediocre restaurants in Lake George where the staff at least puts forth an effort. This was definitely our last visit to Prospect Mountain Diner.
Food was sub par. Portions are small. Can't split checks . 18 percent gratuity and service fee charged without prior knowledge.
Came during the off season, not super busy. Waiters are rude. Made everyone wait outside instead of just seating us at the empty tables and booths. Gave us and another couple attitude multiple times, The food was bland and just overall not impressive I would never come back here
Me and my husband went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We had made a weekend trip up for the opening of Martha's and to get away. We had eaten there in the past. The prices had gone up but that was expected for the times. Upon receiving our meal we noticed à big difference in portion size. My food was not at all hot. Warm to cold to be exact. Only good part was hot coffee. My husband had a western omelet which was missing the cheese. His was hot. Home fries had no flavor/seasoning and weren't cooked enough. He ordered wheat toast which was burnt. Some people like it that way but not him or me. They didn't even offer jelly. He pushed to the edge of the table and the waitress never noticed and said anything after coming to the table several times to pick up my plate and refill our coffee. Never again.
This was our first choice for breakfast the morning after we arrived in Lake George. We were happy that it was within walking distance from our hotel, and thought because of the small diner looks, it'd be a safe option. Boy were we wrong! Ordered a glass of orange juice, and received a tiny glass. I mean if they were running out, I would've run down the street and bought them some. We were pretty disappointed in the food as well. All in all Lake George was a disappointment at every turn.
I have been going to LG All my life. 3 times a summer/fall. Never had a bad experience until today, we always eat there with 5 stars. Today this new guy hostess. Rude and impolite. This door must must stay close. Ok um Please and thank you really, then he pulls it shut, you must wait outside, ok all nicely. Waitress was extremely nice. That guy though. Hope he’s not there next time. Everyone enjoy overall food is excellent
First time and last time.... Food is not great. Two small orange juice diluted with water at 9,99$?? I could get a 2 litres Tropicana for less then that!😳. Its a rip off.... 30$ plus tip. You ask for sausages and they give you two flat things who look like hamburger meat.... Thank god the service was very good. Mini juke-box on your table.....its for the show. Doesn't work.....
Starting off, if I could leave 0 stars I would, but I can’t. There was not one good thing about this place besides the milkshake. The hostess was not even dressed as a server and was extremely rude to the costumers. I ordered chicken tenders, lemme tell you they tasted and looked like Wendy’s chicken nuggets. They were not chicken tenders at all. My boyfriend got a fish sandwich and he got sick after. Our waitress was also extremely rude. We had to wait around 10-15 minutes after being seated for someone to come to us. So of course we were ready to order, once she finally decided to come we told her that we were ready to order. She was not happy with that, she sighed obnoxiously loud and rolled her eyes. My boyfriend and I were speechless because that has never happened to us. If you want to eat somewhere in the Lake George area there are so many good places you can go to, even McDonald’s is better than this. Save your time and money!
Ate lunch here and ordered the vegetarian burger. I literally could not eat the burger as it had freezer burn and tasted like curry. My sister ordered the chicken salad which was also inedible. The only halfway decent lunch was ordered by my other sister and dropped on the patio before serving… Never again…
A group of 7 of us came for breakfast a couple weeks ago, as we walked in the hostess screamed at us to go outside and after 2 of us asked for how long it would be for tables after everyone else went outside she told us an hour and 45 minutes wait. All outside tables were free. Than we turned and went outside to tell the group. They were so put off by the first encounter we decided to go elsewhere. As we were walking away she than came outside to scream at us some more about how she told us to go outside to wait. Never in my life have I seen such rude service. Never returning.
Worst diner I’ve been to in along time how do you say your a diner but don’t have a fryer on that’s a joke
Me and my family went on our way back home and service was very bad they didn't think about asking how the food was and waiter was not very helpful and was not thinking about the people being served. The atmosphere was very bad many flys were flying around and coming around our food. And in a whole restaurant was very bad and I would not recommend.
Would not recommend breakfast. The silver dollar pancakes were hard/dry. The ham/cheese omelette was not fully cooked and more like a scramble instead of an omelette. The potatoes were burnt with no flavor. Way over priced for what you get.
The food was awful, the strawberries on my french toast were fermented. The service was horrible, I literally heard a waitress tell an elderly lady to move her phone that she felt like she was speaking to a child. A tiny glass of orange was $5.00. Will never go again, super expensive.
Food was okay. They did not allow us to sit inside with my service dog. Was told we had to have papers to sit inside. Papers are not required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. Manager made excuses instead of apologizing.
This diner was a huge rip off. The service was extremely slow. We never were able to get refills on drinks. The food was mediocre at best and to top it all off, we got the bill and were shocked. For the kids size juice, they charged us $5 alone. Each of the other kids got a milk and a lemonade which were just under that. When I asked about the price of the juice, the waiter told me it is actually a good deal because we get more than an adult size juice.
