The food is always great. I highly recommend the patty melt. It's one of the best around. My only complaint is that they can be a little slow, but for good food, I'm okay with that.

This is the best place to get a good burger, my wife and i get out usual burgers once a week here. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I won't pay for a McDonald's 7 dollar quarter pounder when they're really no bigger than a cheeseburger. 5.79 for a bacon cheeseburger at zesty burger and believe me it's a burger the way burgers are supposed to be made.

We went here as a family when I was a kid, and I decided to stop by for lunch. I'm so happy to say the food is still so good. Memories of burgers tots and sitting at the park eating with my family came back. Great then and great now.

I once thought that Ray’s on timberland Drive was the best burger shack ever boy was I surprisingly wrong zesty burger is by far the best burger spot in the United State. 10 thumbs up. Keep up the good work guys and gals. The burgers there are great the fry’s too great service wonderful people.

Yes! My favorite burger place in Lufkin. The burgers are HUGE. Never dry, always good flavor. I always order ahead by calling it in. My husband loves the kontondo burger. I usually end up getting a bacon cheeseburger, but I have some of the others ones, they're all good! The loaded potato wedges are so good! There's only like 4 giant pieces but it's super filling. Same with the onion rings, there are just a few but they're giant and so delicious! Beware the large soda is like a half gallon of soda.

This place is horrible .... if you want a tiny, tasteless burger. If you want pounds of perfectly cooked burger with crispy bacon, delicious cheese and stacks of flavor ... this is your place! I can't even begin to compare the thickness of these onion rings unless I talk about the rings of Saturn or some other cosmic yum experience. This is a must try!

This is my first time eating here. The fries were awesome!! They were real fries, still had the skin on them! The burgers were great!!!! We also ordered the fried green tomatoes to me they hard great flavor, my wife thought they needed a little bit more salt and they were just a little soggy. I can only imagine how crunchy they would be eating them fresh. I highly recommend Zesty Burger. Just be mindful of their hours and order early. As far as the atmosphere goes, I have 3 stars because I can only rate it that from the outside because I ordered via call in. Everything else 5 stars

Recently, just tried The Kontodo, easily 4.5/5, Friday's Daily Special, priced at only $6.99 (3/7/2025), includes: avocado, bacon, grilled onions, a slice of fried ham, lettuce, tomato, cheese, jalapeños...not sure what else...this thing was HUGE, juicy, packed with flavor, the only "complaints" are part of the best parts. It's so big, taking a bite is a challenge, especially in the beginning, and it was so juicy, you MUST have napkins. It dripped through my fingers. A classically Texas-sized portion and aesthetic at an old-school price! I also can vouch for the mushroom Swiss burger. Same quality, very large, juicy, delicious. High quality, amazingly tasty, with that hint of down home cooking due to being served on thick-sliced toasted bread (unfortunately, no photo)

My wife and I found this place by chance passing through Lufkin, TX. The food and service was phenomenal. We split the brisket tacos with soup and fries. The tacos with the in-house made sauce were absolutely some of the best we have ever had. We plan on going back here to eat on our way back through, and will go out of our way to come back whenever we pass through Texas (which is convenient since Lufkin is between I-10 and I-20). I would recommend you add this place to your food "bucket list".

The homestyle fries are seasoned perfectly, a little higher priced, but good! The Philly sandwich was good, and for the size, it's a fair price!

We always come here atleast 2x a month for dinner. Their sampler is pretty good which includes lonches gordita, tacos and sopa, they have specials everyday. Burgers are way better than fast foods.

First time here, went through drive thru. Ordered, paid and was asked to park and they would bring food to us. Probably took about 30 minutes to get our food, 2 burgers and 3 sides. Although that would not be considered fast, it seemed freshly cooked, they were busy and service was pleasant. Next time I will call the order ahead.

Burgers tasted good. We ordered fried mushrooms and got fried pickles instead. I hate fried pickles! Other than that it's a good place to get burgers to go. I wouldn't recommend eating in restaurant. The air conditioner is not the best. In fact it's pretty hot in the store.

Great burgers. Lots of meat. Hours posted say close at 8. We were eating outside and a family from out of town tried to get in at 730pm and the door was locked. They were hungry and frustrated. Sad one of my favorite places didn't honor their hours and make a traveling family happy.

These burgers were really good. The menu needs descriptions so you don't have to keep asking staff about everything that comes on or in their food. Next time we will order ahead. It took about 25 minutes for two burgers. This is definitely not fast food if you were expecting that. Our fries were nice and crispy so that's good, but my burger bun bottom was soggy because they put the lettuce and pickles under the meat which adds moisture and wilts them. These cheese was a bit too much. I ended up scraping off some just to finish it. I'd definitely eat the burgers again, but eat them as soon as they were handed to me. Overall a good experience.

I called ahead. Was told ready in 15 minutes. I made it to restaurant between 12 and 15 minutes. Had to wait extra 20 minutes for order and I had to call them to remind them I was sitting out back waiting. The food was awesome that I ordered but the wait is just too long. I do not recommend the fried green tomato.

Honestly, the burgers are mediocre, but they are very affordable for the amount of food you're getting, so all around great value. Sides come separate, and there's no combos. If you order a 1/2lb cheese burger with no drink and no side, it's about a dollar more than a quarter pounder with cheese at McDonald's, but double the meat!

This use to be a better alternative than Mom's Diner. Since the business has remodeled, customer service has been less than par, the shake machine never works, and the wait is ridiculous. The food still taste good, but everything else mentioned needs work. I' am not sure if it is under new owners or not. With the long wait times, it wouldn't be a bad idea to add to the employee roster. This business isn't losing money viewing from the long lines and wait time. Respectfully, Spuck1

I was pretty hyped about giving this place a try, so my opinion could just be me going in with too high of expectations. The burger was a little overcooked, but not terribly. At best, the fries were lukewarm. The soda fountain was flat. The was right in the middle of the lunch hour, which really doesn't make sense that the fries weren't fresh. There were at least 15 other people eating in there. Anyways, I really wanted it to be great.

So, I really struggled with this review. The burger was really good. really really good, but I don't I will be back must, especially with the kids. I think locals know that you have to order ahead and get it to go because otherwise it takes at least 30 minutes to get your burgers. We dined in and had 4 burgers ordered. People kept coming in for to go orders or drive thru and leaving while we waited. Others inside were waiting too so I know it wasn't just us. These burgers were not cheap either. They were gourmet burger prices for home town cooking. They were good burgers and they had they little something extra (interesting combinations and flavors) but not for that price. The woman at the window kind of treated everyone like they should be local and know what all the burger names mean and seemed agitated when we asked what certain ones were. The tea was keep behind the window and she got annoyed when I needed a refill. The sodas are out front but not the tea. All in all it wasn't a bad experience but don't go if you want to have a quick lunch or if you have ansy kids.

Generally nothing special here at Zesty Burger... Parking lot is a little rough and not maintained well. Burger was good. Sweet potato fries were only passable. Note that burgers & many other menu items do not come with French fries or any side item. Must buy those separately. And overall, the value of what you get for what you paid is not good. The dining room is basic and worn out some, not kept very clean either. The menu at the counter is in small print and prices are difficult to read- must get very close to read them. There are hand written signs - most of which contain passive aggressive statements or some type of orders or demands. Men's bathroom was clean. The woman taking orders was robotic and not friendly (no human factor present). The overall energy from the staff here was abrupt and not inviting. Not gonna be a return visit for us.

I love their burgers sandwiches and fish and shrimp but today I wanted to try the Mexican food. The display was beautiful but was very disappointed with the taco salad and the beef sampler which is a smorgasbord of Mexican food. The meat had no seasoning at all not even salt or pepper. It was browned hamburger. Lucky I had some sauce that I was able to eat some off the beef sampler but the taco salad was not fixable.

I have to say, my most recent visit on 2/3/2023 was decent. The burgers we received didn't seem to have been seasoned at All. They were cooked properly and tasted ok, but I had to add a decent amount of salt and pepper and it still wasn't quite the same. We ordered 3 burgers between 3 people. I didn't mention anything until after I asked if the other peoples food was satisfactory... We all had the same opinion after we finished..."Were these even seasoned with anything??" , I'm not saying the food was horrible as it was all hot, fresh and made correctly, it was just kind of "flat" I guess in terms of the flavor/ taste, I've had better seasoned burgers from Sonic >_<, the people working here seemed young so I wasn't shocked that it was as bland as it was, if that's the only complaint I have then they're doing something right. Just don't be afraid to use the seasonings!!!

Food was great, service was not. Drove thru at about 6:15 and the girl, Ashley, that took our order was very unfriendly to the point of almost rude. No customer service skills. I've lived in Lufkin all my life and I'd never been here before but wanted to try it. But It was not a feeling of ready to try something new and more of an unwelcoming, wish I'd gone somewhere else feeling.

I went by the location today while traveling through Lufkin. It only showed a 4.2 on the reviews but I prefer the “mom & pop” businesses over the franchise’s. Anyway I ordered a hamburger and fries and a drink and I asked the counter person if the fries were skin on or skin off fries, as I really dislike skin on, and she informed me that they were skin off so I asked for some crispy fries. What I got was soggy skin on fries, when I asked her she again she confirmed that they were skin off and then proceeded to ask the cook and WOW, all they serve is skin on fries. At least the hamburger was decent, but I doubt that will make my way back there again.

I'm really torn about how many stars I should put. I've lived in this town for 2 years. Eaten at Zesty Burger several times. They have, in my opinion, the best burgers! Always fresh, dripping delicious juices. I rarely order other stuff from the menu. Usually, it's just my wife and I getting food. THE ONE MAJOR PROBLEM, they are slow as hell! I understand it's fresh and that can't be rushed. But for drive thru... it should be soooo much faster! You order at the window and then sit behind the place for a lengthy amount of time before your food is brought out. Don't bring your whole family or even one kid, take out. Today, we ordered for the whole family. I knew I was going to regret it. My wife and I with our middle child in the back seat. 3 JR cheese burgers, large shrimp basket, catfish & shrimp basket, regular cheese burger with everything, the ft long bacon wrapped hot dog, orders of fries and an order of onion rings. I think we waited 30+ minutes. No onion rings, the hot dog was not a foot long and the chilli on it tasted weird and my wife wouldn't eat it. Everything else tastes great! Oh wait! There were 2 onion rings mixed in with fries in my catfish & shrimp basket, and there was a salad..... Anyway. I don't know. All that for $68 and change.

Zesty Burger used to be the best in town IMO. I went there a few weeks ago and didn’t even eat my food. They don’t taste the same anymore. The buns were too soggy and greasy. The fries were overcooked. I won’t go back.

I love zesty burger. Its been my recommendation for a great burger in lufkin for years. I haven't been in about a year so I was ready to go get one of their delicious burgers. The lady taking my order seemed extremely frustrated that I made any kind of changes to the way I wanted the burgers. And when it came time to order my burger she rushed me so much I just ended up getting a regular cheese burger. I'm like an onion ring, 3 kinds of cheese , fried egg on my burger kind of guy. So anyway ny burger suuuucked. The bund was stail , the meet was slooped with grease, it was about the most meh food I've had in a very long time. Worst part was the staffs tood. So can no longer recommend. Might give it one more go but I'm thinking rays from now on .

Nice size burger patties. But not a lot of flavor. The fries were soft but had good flavor. Wish they would've put that fry seasoning on the burger and cooked the fries a bit longer. That would've been awesome!! Took a real long time in the drive thru. Pulled forward and parked to wait about 25 minutes before food arrived. Price was ok. About $10 for a small combo. Lettuce wasn't very fresh either. Bun was large. Pickle was good. Root beer was great! Perfect amount of ice. Probably won't be back.

Well, we wanted to like this place. We have been loyal Rays fans for a long time, but thought we would try Zesty. We wont be back. First, the order takers were not friendly at all, in fact close to rude. The burgers were very dry. I ordered a Swiss Mushroom burger. I was hard pressed to find a mushroom on it and the swiss was actually white american. Just not a great experience. We will go back to Rays from now on. A bit more expensive, but worth it.

To start things off, I’m not usually the type of person who leaves reviews for anything this will actually be my first one. I want to say first that I had no issue with the food at Zesty’s. In fact, I believe it’s one of the best local restaurants we have in Lufkin. The food has always been good. My issue is with one of the order takers and the customer service experience. The first situation happened in the drive-thru. I pulled up to order for myself and a coworker. My coworker sent me money through Apple Cash, so I asked if I could do two separate orders. The lady at the window kept tapping on a sign that said they don’t do multiple orders. I thought that meant you couldn’t combine items and split payment between two cards, so I went ahead and placed my first order and paid. After that, I asked if I could place another order. She visibly looked annoyed and said, “Sir, I told you I can’t take two orders.” I explained that I already paid for the first one and just needed to place another for my coworker using a different card. She didn’t clarify anything and didn’t seem to care. From that interaction, it felt like you’re forced to put everything on one card. What bothered me more was her attitude especially when I went back through the drive-thru to place the second order and she seemed even more annoyed. If it were just company policy, I would’ve understood. But her mood made the situation frustrating. Today was the second issue. I went inside during my lunch break with a coworker. The only reason we went was because I wanted a chili cheese hot dog I honestly think they have the best ones in Lufkin. When it was my turn to order, it was the same lady from the drive-thru situation. I clearly said I wanted two chili cheese hot dogs. She responded quickly with “two chili cheese nacho tots.” She said “tots” so fast that I didn’t even register it at first. I’ve never heard a restaurant call anything “chili cheese nacho,” so I repeated my order. We went back and forth about five times. She kept repeating “chili cheese tater tots,” and I kept saying “chili cheese hot dogs.” Eventually I thought maybe that’s just what they call it, even though the menu clearly says “chili cheese dog.” When I got to the table, my friend asked how many times I repeated my order and we laughed about it. Then the food came out and it was chili cheese tots, not hot dogs. I got back in line. There were three customers ahead of me, and she pointed at me and asked if something was wrong. I said yes, my order was incorrect and I ordered two chili cheese hot dogs. She smiled ear to ear and said, “No sir, you ordered chili cheese tater tots, and I repeated that to you.” I responded, “Why would we go back and forth repeating tater tots if that’s what I wanted? I would’ve said yes the first time.” She kept smiling and insisted I ordered tots. At that point, I just said “okay, whatever” and waited to reorder. I ended up spending over $30 when all was said and done Zesty’s isn’t cheap. When I reordered, the new lady at the register again said “chili cheese tater tots,” and I slowly and clearly said “chili cheese hot dog,” loud enough so the original employee could hear me. I finally got the correct order. This time I asked for a receipt. When I looked at it, none of the individual items were even listed on it, which honestly just made me laugh at that point. Again, the food is great. I genuinely enjoy eating here. But the customer service experience specifically with this employee has been one of the worst I’ve experienced. If she happens to read this, I was the customer wearing a brown hoodie, there around 1:20 PM today, and my order number was 48. I just hope management considers improving the customer service experience because the food deserves better representation.

Now just a few things I'd like to say one thing I like to say is they charge you $2.49 for a little bit of bacon on top of your cheese fries or the thing is hardly any bacon at all I like paying what I did it's not worth the price so I will not be returning there just a little over $18 for a fish sandwich cheese fries with bacon and a drink. I could have went to Golden Corral and got a complete meal of everything for about the same price.

I was really disappointed 😕. 1) The lady at the window was somewhat rude. 2) I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with no onion mustard or pickles and she acted as though the world was ending. 3) I could tell the fries were mixed in with fresh fries and old fries, that had just reheated the old fries in the oil 😒. 4) Some fries were lightly seasoned with season salt, some with salt, and some with nothing at all. 5) The burger would have to be the most disappointing. The meat was falling apart. I thought I read in one of the reviews that the burgers were “ flavorful “ but they it wasn’t. It was bland and soggy. I would expect them to at least toast the buns if they know they it’s an to go order. Plus I said no onions and you could tell they forgot and pulled the onions off last minute because I could smell it on the burger. By the way people where reviewing I thought I had finally found a decent burger and fries in Lufkin. Makes me wonder if you guys were paid for your review or if you’ve never just really had a good burger and fries before. It just doesn’t seem like the food was prepared with any love. Any passion. They just threw it together and it was visible. I don’t know if today was just a bad day but I won’t be going back and I won’t be recommending it to anyone I know if they ask where to get a good burger.

Haven’t been here in a While since the Pandemic. I decided to go today ordered plenty of food and shakes for me and my kids. After placing my order another lady comes to the window yelling at me saying she may bring me my food in 20 minutes or so but my shakes may not come for a while I said that’s fine as long as it doesn’t take too long. She then says I’m very busy so I can’t just stop and make your shakes. I say I understand they are handmade I work in a restaurant were we make them too. Just as long as my food doesn’t get cold waiting for them. I got the hint after the whole conversation of she was busy the shakes take time I have to do other things. Blah blah blah!!!! She wanted me to cancel my shakes so I did I cancelled my whole order!!!! She ruined my meal with her attitude and not wanting to make my shakes! Not going back for a while or maybe not at all!!!

I ATTEMPTED to order for the first time since the new management took over for my mother and I ( So I hadn’t been in years) in the drive through once and the two lady’s whole dameanor was not welcoming at all. As she was taking my order she gave very much what do you want type of attitude. Not knowing that I’m an experienced server and I tip EVERYWHERE I go. I feel like that may have been the assumption on top of mine and I may be wrong , but as I looked back there was a girl with glasses kind of standing in the back( which I think was one of the cooks) she looked a little younger with the most disgusted mug . Again not welcoming at all. I politely told her that was okay , and nevermind in calmest way and simply gave an “ OKAY! “. Like whatever! And closed the window before I drove off. So yeah to grow up tasting those great shakes and burgers were a good memory but CUSTOMER SERVICE is key. No matter where you work. Servers that I’ve trained in my time of being in the food industry is that “ IF YOU TREAT PEOPLE AS IF THEY DONT TIP THEN THEY WONT”. Again I may be wrong but I seriously don’t understand what their attitude was about . I’m a complete stranger who hasn’t eaten here in years and this is how you treat new customers? Won’t get a penny from me.

Cynthia ALWAYS got an attitude & she always get orders wrong. This my fourth time having a run in with her. Now I remembered why I stopped going to this place ! The food is nothing but great but the customer service make you not even want to spend your money there . Do better Cynthia .

Food is good but I will never go back to this place!! Staff are the rudest self centered people on this planet!! You would get better service from a rock in the middle of a cow pasture!! I called in a to go order the lady over the phone spoke really fast and hung up really quick. Upon picking up my lunch they forgot my drink after I had already paid with my debit card. Having no cash they would not sell me my drink because of a minimum five dollar purchase on debit card. ( when they should’ve just said sorry let me get you one) If the lady would’ve been paying attention in the first place it would have not been forgotten. Then to top it off I tried telling them They need to pay a little more attention to their orders ! She screamed at me how rude and then she told me to get out of her store shushing me with her hands and slammed the window in my face. All of this over a .25 drink!! So Sad!!

This USE TO BE one of my favorite places to eat but for the last 3 times they have gotten my order wrong left the chili and cheese off my burrito no sour cream for my zesty tacos and the icing on the cake was forgetting to include my bean soup!! I’m done with them!! I shouldn’t have to drive back into town to get something that I’ve already paid for! It’s really not that hard to to accurately fill someone order because my money was accurate when I paid for it 🤬🤬🤬

Refused to honor their sign for military. Said they only offer the discount to active duty in uniform despite their sign only saying "active duty military with ID". Could have taken 1 second to look at the given military ID that clearly says active duty. There are no military installations less than a couple hours away and could probably count on one hand how many uniformed military have actually come in during this places existence. Take down your sign or learn how to honor it. Missing food was icing on the cake, too. Garbage customer service.

Who owns Zesty Burger? The staff has been rude the last couple of times I've gone. Today, I ordered 2 separate orders for the office and the policy is that if you have more than one order you have to go in and pay. We'll today it's pouring rain and high winds and I understand policy so I said, "okay, I'll pay for the first order and then drive around for the second order" this lady said, "no ma'am you come in to pay" in a patronizing way and pointed her finger at me! I was shocked at the rudeness and lack of customer service. I told her that I wasn't doing that and she could keep my order and she she agreed. Even though there was no one behind me in line, I was willing to drive around so to keep their policy of only one order paid through the drive through at a time. I'm disappointed that Zesty has lost my business because their food is great. It's not what people say, it's the attitude and how it is said. I went to Mom's Diner who was much more polite!

Only a 1 star because its the lowest choice. I'm not one to complain, however this experience was bottom line the worst ive ever encountered. Service was absolutely horrible to start out with, My husband and I order two simple meals, when food comes out mine hasn't even been made. my husband's is missing ingredients (simple fix and he was good) and when my food DOES come out its prepared half-ass. I got the Philly cheese steak sandwich. The cheese and bread is ice cold not melted whatsoever, meat is cooked barely warm not even near hot, bellpeppers are half cooked and when i take it up to the Hispanic lady working the front she raises her voice and becomes irate at me, yelling "I just cook it!" mind you theres no line at all. It isn't busy, this experience was unacceptable. Im pregnant and just wanted a hot sandwich not to fight with a subpar worker.

Never been here before. Came by at 7:30 because everyone bragged about how good they burgers were. Well.....the door was locked and couldn't try it out. Never coming back. P

Food was great but had to pay $1.25 for water which had fruit punch in it. Workers refused to give me tap water.

Spend your money and time elsewhere. The young girl at the register was rude and seemed like she didn’t want to take our order. This place definitely does not represent the lufkin hospitality that I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing here while in town. The food was mediocre for the price. The burger patty was dry and the chili tasted like it was from a can. Not sure why they added mustard on the chili dog. Dine in turned into take out after receiving the food due to the unfriendly atmosphere.
