I have now eaten at the Vips in Plaza Mayor twice, both times just before flying home, because it is perfectly positioned for the classic pre-airport ritual. You fill up the rental car at the petrol station outside Plaza Mayor, you try to remember where the boot release is, you question every life decision that led you to flying today, and then — salvation — Vips. One last genuinely pleasant experience before you descend into the madness of airports, queues, scanners, and fellow travellers who appear to have forgotten how walking works. And what continues to amaze me is this. The food is actually good. Not “fine considering it's a chain” good. Actually good. In fact, it is better than several of the restaurants in Plaza Mayor that pretend to be far more serious than they are. Which is both funny and slightly tragic for them. The first time, I had the club sandwich. A sensible choice. Very straightforward. But this time I ordered the Papito, which is their steak sandwich, and it was absolutely superb. Tender steak, proper flavour, the kind of sandwich that makes you reconsider leaving Spain at all. It is now my official go-to. I may even start choosing flights based entirely on whether I have enough time to get one. The staff are equally brilliant. Completely chilled, unfazed by the chaos around them, and exactly the sort of people you want serving you when your phone is ringing like a fire alarm. They keep the coffees coming with the precision of a Formula One pit crew. Turn your head for a moment and another cup appears. Wizardry. So yes. Vips, Plaza Mayor. Close enough to the airport to be practical, civilised enough to make you forget what comes next, and serving a steak sandwich that frankly has no business being this good.

Last year we had gone to VIPS in Malaga factory and said we would never come again. However my perception has changed today 😃 I don’t know if it’s the location or the sweet servers or the food. It was very welcoming from the start and the servers are very attentive. A big shout out to ESTHER 🤛🏼for her amazing service. We had the club sandwich, patata brava and croquettes jamon all amazing. My son had his favorite ice cream and she even put blueberries which he requested 🥰 . Will bring my husband next time 🙂

We've been to the VIPS at Plaza Mayor in Malaga many times and always had a great experience. The first few times we were hosted by Nayara, always with a smile and positive energy, her customer service skills are phenomenal, she remembered us on future visits and even our preferred tables. Recently we ran into a problem, and discussed what a world class staff would do and how they would address the problem, and that's exactly how Pedro managed the situation, hats off to him! Our most recent visit Juan stepped up and we watched his work ethic, 5 stars across the board on his skills. Alejandro was great waiting on our table, very professional and Lute, always with a smile and ready to serve. All together this team is really one of the best out there from our experience, thank you to all of you for always making our visits so good. And thank you to Zaira, not task too big, always there to make sure everything is perfect and giving us the best possible experience.

Large VIPS inside Plaza Mayor with lots of seating outside and inside. Always a great choice for my kids. They have a large menu as well with lots of appetizers, sandwiches, interesting plates and great desserts. During the week they also have a daily menu.
