Great atmosphere, ribs and brisket were both excellent.
A local favorite, but not your typical restaurant. Great barbecue.
BBQ was great. Beer was cold and people super friendly.
Great Good and Great Place!! Been Going here since I was little and now my Dad and a friend run it!!
Make the drive to check this place out! Great staff! Amazing brisket!
Great atmosphere, nice little bbq bar joint to visit
Welcome to Mayberry's BarBQue joint! Super friendly, country store with a bar and great BarBQue!
Cele store is known for barbeque to the locals but to horror buffs it's the gas station for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre!!!
Super Texas Kinda Place, Warm hospitality & Great BBQ
Great place with lots of history, and cold beer.
Friendly local feel. Cold beer. Great for parties.
great bbq, cool history of the building. great service!
Going to miss the history, food and kind folks. Irreplacable.
Moved in next door, wish this place was open when I got here
Good BBQ in a fun environment. No sides that you can bring your own.
Great BBQ and awesome people for a real Texas experience.
Great atmosphere, eclectic setting, simple GREAT BBQ.
So fun, and great BBQ as well as great service.
This is an iconic place it's been in so many movies I could not name them all such as secondhand Lions and Texas chainsaw massacre.good BBQ to boot
We have been coming here for twenty years. still some of the best bbq in in austin or should I say surrounding area. well worth a lil trip on the weekend.
Been going here since I was a kid. The best bbq sauce I have ever had. Ribs, sausage, brisket is all fantastic.
Talk about local culture! Wow -- this place is great. A fun time. PS -- bring your own vegetables!
Awesome food, the brisket was delicious! Super friendly people and a great "old time" atmosphere! Loved it!!!
Great experience. You have to really plan visit cause they are not open much. Good food and cash only
Amazing BBQ. Ribs are the best I've had. Great atmosphere. Perfect weekend event for Austin area
What a gem! This place is so full of history and a big draw for movie buffs. And the BBQ lunch on Saturdays is great.
Great people. Good food. And they had a great band tonight!
Great place a step back in time. The people are super friendly and make you feel like you have been there forever.
Great old country store turned in to a BBQ & beer joint with live music once in awhile on Friday nights.
Nice old store and BBQ place. Very nice people. Will definitely go again.
Make sure to bring your own sides and call ahead for a reservation on Fridays just to make sure you have a seat and BBQ.
BBQ was great! Really wonderful people there - thoroughly enjoyed the experience
Pretty cool little place. Donny is awesome and Janice serves up great BBQ
Great Texas BBQ and great music. Staff is easy to work with and feels like close family.
Delicious BBQ with friendly staff who make you feel like family!! This hidden gem is a must visit.
We love this place! The food is great and so is the owner and staff!
A truly Texas experience! Good BBQ, cold beer, nice people, and interesting history.
Local charm filled with history and amazing staff and patrons. We love it here!
Absolutely wonderful! Great food, great service and family friendly!
First time visiting was my 40th HS reunion. The staff is 6-star, the BBQ is Texas 5-star (the absolute highest rating, although I think they should work on their sauce), and the venue is one of a kind unique. Try this place just to walk on the creaky wood floors, drink a beer, and count the number of rusty nails in the bins in the back.
Best bar in the world. We arrived and found our reserved table. They dont serve hard liquor but you can bring your own hard liquor and they provide set-ups. You dont order food, they bring out 3 bbq'd meats with a pile of white bread, dill pickles, raw onion, cheese, pickled peppers and BBQ sauce. Amazing meal..we were served ribs, brisket and sausage. The ribs were perfectly cooked but the sausage was the best I've ever had. The wait-staff was excellent and if you ran out of anything, they were happy to bring you more. The live music was excellent. Just one last thing, the floors are uneven and not much has changed since it was built.
What a find! Don’t let the looks of it scare you off - it almost did us. Basic (wonderful) BBQ with pickles, onions, cheese and a jalapeño. If you want beans or slaw, bring your own. Live music some Friday nights that require reservations, but no cover. Check out their Facebook page for a Texas Monthly review.
Best BBQ and atmosphere in Texas. Nothing is more authentic than eating in an old 1800's saloon thats inna small town. Love it everytime we go, we usually cook up some beans, cream corn or Mac and Cheese and bring along to complement the meal.
Very welcoming atmosphere! The food is fabulous, great prices and portions are adequate. The live entertainment fits the atmosphere amazingly. Strongly suggest visiting here at least once to get the feel of the small community!
This is one of my favorite hidden places! Love the staff! It's always a good time. Grab a drink & some bbq, sit back and enjoy the company. You'll never meet a stranger at the Cele Store!
Always so much fun! Family friendly and really good barbeque! Great friday night place to go, eat and relax! Brisket, ribs and sausage, cheese, pickles, onions yumyum. Chicken on request.
Love this place. It's a saloon from the late 1800s that they kept pretty much the same and now it's a bbq restaurant. They have live bands occasionally. Then there's the porkchop on Thursday for supper, bbq brisket, sausage and really good pork ribs Friday and saturday for lunch. Try it out for yourself. Cash only. They have an ATM Google maps you'll find it. 😀
Cool place. This is the garage from the movies The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. You need to bring your own sides because all they sell is brisket, sausage, and ribs. But it is worth it.
Loved it here! It has such a southern family atmosphere and it's tucked away right in the perfect spot of the country. The food is also amazing! Go for the ribs!
This is one of my favorite places to eat at. Quick Fact: This storefront makes it's appearance in "The Big Green" kid's movie. My daughter thought it was the coolest thing to visit and see a place from a movie.
Best little kept secret of central Texas. Love the hospitality, love the bbq, big portions, great prices and awesome southern country small town Texas vibe. Tell them that Mario sent ya, the Army retired guy!
My favorite BBQ place in all of TEXAS! It has it all y'all! Pot bellied stove fired up in the winter, creaky uneven floors, its a hardware store during the week...and the BBQ...they bring it to you on butcher paper, your only sides are cheese sticks and jalapeno peppers and their sauce is in a Styrofoam cup! Man, you wont even darken the door of salt lick after this! Make reservations or you might not get fed. They have music on some nights. ( both kinds...country AND western!)
Visiting Cele tonight. This place was featured in Chain Saw Massacre, Second Hand Lion and many other movies... Rated as the top ten movie places to film. . Its been open since the late 1800s. Come visit. One of many secret places to visit in Austin.
Absolutely love Cele Store! It had been on my bucket list since I saw second hand lion!
Love the brisket. Not too exotic tasting BBQ. Tastes just right. Definitely a must visit. Good for out of town guests too!
Great experience it's got a 100 year old bar good band on Friday nights and the bbq is outstanding go on out there and see Don and the gang listen to some farmers tell there stories on how the year is going and don't forget Hollywood gas been there second hand lions filmed a part right by the bar the old bar fight scene with Robert dinero must place to go just don't eat bbq at the bar remember it's a 100 years old
Cash or check only! Cele felt like going back in time , it was great. Everything was great, I liked the brisket the most my friend loved the rips the best.
I did a Texas Chainsaw roadtrip I planned for 2 years, and it was well worth it, we stopped at the Gas Station, aka Cele store, used in 2003 Chainsaw, when we arrived it was close til later, however the managers was there and allowed us in to see the Inside the building to take a small tour. They were very polite and gave us many info bout the building and other movies that was filmed in the store... oh and the food smelled mouth watering, I reccomend fans and tourists to stop and hope ya meet the employees cause they were just amazing to talk to. Eli and Michelle
My son and I drove over 500 miles just to visit the Cele Store and eat its excellent BBQ! Don, the owner is such a character and super nice guy. He makes you feel like a regular when you come for a visit. My son and I will keep coming back for Saturday lunch whenever we can. We love this place!
This place is a Texas gem. Met Don, at the time we went they had no power due to the recent ice storm. But it was business as usual, we had some moist brisket, some damn good ribs (meaty) and juicy amazing sausage. Was so very special to finally visit here.
This place was AMAZING !!! Food was SOOOOO yummy and the people were awesome. Just a great atmosphere and since our family just moved to Texas a week ago this was the best place to start our Texas Life 🤠😁 Highly recommend for the families. Will for sure be our weekend get away place. Can't wait to go back
The sausage and brisket were awesome, the band played on and generally, it's the best way to kickoff UT baseball there is. Thanks Raul
Unfortunately after 133 years has close since March 31, 2024.
Like stepping out of a Time Machine into a simpler time. Ribs were very good, and the people were amazing. Owners were so personable and so sweet to our daughter. No sides, no frills. Just a cool experience.
Parts of the Texas Chainsaw movies dunben filmed here y'all!

Great place for good old friends and family with a real down-home feel. Friendly and rustic atmosphere. Awesome food! Bring your own sides (potato salad etc.) if you want them, they have eveything else you need (drinks, onions, pickles, beer, etc.). Ice cream is for dessert! Loved the two guys working here, very hospitable.
I'm a long time customer who loves the staff and customers who frequent the store. The food is great with even better atmosphere provided by the people and historic building. Don and Mike have assembled a great team to ensure your visit is top notch. Janice, William, Calford, Mary, and Leslie add to the charm of the Cele Store. Make it part of your next dinning experience.
I grew up in Cele and the four I might be partial... but it is the best BBQ around. They don't serve sides but you can bring your own in. Same for liquor. You can BYOB and play for a set up. They do have beer though and live music every other Friday. The floors and walls are wonky and if matches for a great authentic old school bbq experience. Plus it's been in a lot of films and it's cool seeing things in there.
LOVE this restaurant! By far one of the best BBQ places I have ever eaten at and I’ve had a lot of BBQ in my life. FYI, if you plan on eating their on a Friday night you need to call and make reservation! Pros: The BBQ is to die for! I loved the unique style/design of the restaurant (1800’s OLD) The staff is top notch (such nice people) Cons: I thought the price was a little steep (something like $12 per person) The serve no sides, meat only (I was not expecting that at all) The restrooms where nasty Over all I would give the place a 4.5 out of 5

I always run into someone I know at Cele Store bar and Barbeque. Good food and good company.
Been years since I've been there. Was recommending a friend to visit.
Good food. Brisket, sausage, and ribs. All in an old style general store.
Great party location and enjoyed the food and music.
Great food, great music, great service. This place is a relic!
Great atmosphere, sausage and ribs are good.
Always a good time. No band tonight but good bbq.
Cele has good sausage and a cool vibe. The place you dine used to be a grocery store, and some movies are filmed there.
Good bbq and very nice folks. Cele store very popular for the many great movies filmed here. Will visit again.
Great food and service in an old timey atmosphere. Cash only. Reservations suggested.
Food is very good. But the staff are the best. No matter how busy they are they make everyone feel as they are family.
Great place, great people! It was my first visit and had an excellent time. Don is a kind man and makes you feel at home. Super cool decor, a little bit of everything! Thank you Cele Store! Melissa
This is about as real deal local as you're going to get! From the staff to all the cool old stuff, it doesn't get any better than this! The ribs were a little salty to me, but the sausage was on point!
Decent food, great historic atmosphere, and friendly service. Definitely check it out if you want to time travel back 60 years.
You must see this gem in person! The owner and his wife were very friendly and attentive. We plan to go back for beers and music soon.

This is the best barbeque I have ever had. The meat comes with, onions, pickles, bread and crackers. If you want potato salad and beans you will need.to bring your own. Service was great at first but got annoyed when we stuck around and took pictures. This is a photographers paradise. Will go back when we can.
Loved this little random BBQ joint. The building has cool old history. Old dudes chillin in the back room playing cards when we walked in. The bar side has really neat antiques from days of old. Food was solid. Sausage and ribs were my fave. A step back in time with good Q!
So it's good BBQ.its not amazing BBQ you'd wait 3 hours for but it's good. We tried everything they had and I was pleased with all of it. Bring own sides if you want them. They don't have anything but potato chips. They do encourage you to bring your own sides so they won't look at you funny if you do. I thought people were joking about it until my first visit. all the cokes and waters are bottled or cans. The staff is great. They treat you well and will come around and say thanks for coming in and check on you multiple times. The service was exceptional. The building is old so if your rickety on your feet bring a cane or something. The floors aren't quite level anymore(understatement). There is lots of cool memorabilia on the walls and they are very family friendly. They treated my 2 year old like he was a little King and gave him his own tour of the place. I will be returning here. One final important note, they don't take cards so bring cash.

Not very ADA friendly. Food was good but pricey. Lots of meats but not a lot of side dishes.
Service was good, people seemed genuinely friendly. Food was sub-par though - ribs came out cool(fat was starting to congeal), brisket was on the dry side and cut into cubes(???), cheese that was on the side had NOT been refrigerated(!!!), and the sauce they produced came off more like tomato soup than anything I've tried. Was really disappointed, had high hopes for such a cool-looking place off the beaten path!

Very nice and friendly folks food was good. The Cele Store has some great history and movies were film there. like Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1-3 which are all time classic, Secondhand Lion and A Perfect World. So come on down if hanker for some cooking. also they only take cash...

Terribly overpriced and definitely not even close to the best barbecue... Don't waste your time
BBQ was pricey and greasy, I do not recommend. They don't have sides only meat.
Went in there during the daytime to buy some food to buy some food home heard the barbecue was great but was turned away and said they didn't have any food even though I see people clearly buying food I got the hint and left mediately Craigslist Sundown town and don't welcome black people.
