The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. I ordered the Jerk Chicken with Rice & Peas and Mac & Cheese. The portion sizes are huge and very flavorful and the Jerk sauce is very good. I would recommend this to everyone who visits Miami.

When I came in it smelled like the best grill food I ever smelled in my life. I normally don’t get jerk chicken but it smelled so delicious I had to get me a plate and it did not disappoint! I got jerk chicken, rice & peas w gravy, cabbage and plantain and everything was absolutely scrumptious! I also loved the hospitable customer service and positive vibes in the establishment. I’m visiting from out of town but I’d definitely come back when I’m in town and I’d encourage others to visit as well

You know what, seen this spot on a vlog. Decided to try it out. Glad I did! Had the jerk chicken with red beans and rice with the fried plantains. I will be returning. Please....please forgive me but I gotta keep it real. It is a neighborhood spot. So don't go in there askin a bunch of snooty questions about the food. Pick something and eat it.

For any Vegans!! If you want the most flavorful and homestyle vegan meal of your life go here!!! The "vegetable chunks" on the menu is textured vegetable prptien (TVP) that has been stwwed with onions, peppers and carrots. The stew soaks into every corner of the TVP. The amazing ladies at the front helped me figure out what I could get and showed me the food before handing it to me. I also got a veggie pattie which is also DELICIOUS. Definitely recommend.

Cow foot was excellent. Seasoned properly with lots of flavor. The goat soup which I hadn't had in about 15years, took me back to Jamaica. Plus the patties I love..great crust to meat ratio. Will definitely be back. My order was take out

Exactly what I was thinking when I wanted to eat rice and beans and some Caribbean cabbage. They also make really good curry with soy chunks.

My 21-yr-old son got the escovitch snapper and said it was the best fish dish he's had. This place does spicy food right - enough so you feel it and flavorful at the same time. My 17-yr-old son and I weren't very hungry so we just went for chicken and beef patties with a healthy dose of Scotch Bonnet hot sauce. All of us enjoyed our meals with their strong (the way it should be) ginger beer. The server was friendly and very helpful, patiently answering our questions about the menu. There's nothing not to like about Clive's and we plan to return as early as tomorrow.

I don't eat meat, and usually when I go out to eat most places don't caters to vegetarian, their best choices is a bean burgers or salads. At Clive's I had this delicious pasta and grilled veggies.

Definitely one of the best chicken I had… I like Indian dum style chicken with spices, this one came close to anything I ate outside Indian, and it is really yummy! Not at all spicy though everyone mentioned it is spicy chicken. It was fresh and cooked well!

What a wonderful discovery. Been in Miami for ages and never knew about this gem for Jamaican cuisine. I had ackee and codfish, my compañeros had a variety of dishes from the steamed fish, cow foot, curry goat and manish water. Therm plate of fried breadfruit which we sampled was absolutely scrumptious. I was amazed by the variety of people of different ethnic backgrounds who were filtering in to partake of their island delights and cuisine. Highly recommended if you desire a taste of Jamaica.

First time here. Ordered a large stew beef, rice and peas with plantains. Large is $14. Well worth the money because not a lot of restaurants make stew beef, and if they do, it's not good. Lemon cake as well. Everything was very good.

Been coming to Clive’s for almost 20yrs. Best Jamaican food in town period. The food here is cooked with love and you can taste it. This day, I still crave this place like as if I just had it for the first time. Perfect patties the best jerk chicken oxtail like you wouldn’t believe and I never thought rice could be so perfect. I don’t know what they put in the coconut water but it’s amazing if you ever loved peanut butter, I highly recommend the peanut punch. It will take you back to childhood. God bless Mrs. Murray and this home away from home. ❤️

My Bestie came to y'all restaurant today talking about how good your food is.. So while I'm on the phone with him I checked out your menu.l There very few island restaurants that has vegetarian options. Thank goodness y'all had something I can enjoy. So I had the veggie alfredo pasta. It was delicious. But I wished y'all mushrooms as an option to add as a source of protein. But I still enjoyed it.. 😁

Clive’s Cafe has the real deal authentic Jerk Chicken! The peas and rice with plantains were a nice complement! The place even makes their own ginger beer, which you HAVE to try! If you don’t eat meat, the steamed snapper with Okra is BUSSIN!!

We have tried some of the famous locations to get oxtail in Miami and they do not compare to Clive’s. The oxtails were tender and well seasoned. The rice and peas were everything and the perfect complement to the oxtail. The service was amazing and fast. We don’t have much longer in Miami but we will 100% be returning before we depart. 10/10 recommend

While in Miami for a bachelorette party, we stumbled upon this gem. We were craving Caribbean food and Clive's did not miss with their Jamaican cuisine! Don't be deterred by the neighborhood. Once inside, it's a decent size establishment with a side to sit inside and eat and a side specifically for take out orders. Our food was a bit slow coming out but we did have a larger party. Portions was GREAT and was flavorful. I had the Jerk Shrimp pasta and had plenty to take home to have for left overs. They had a stage in there so looks like they may have live bands on certain days but I know for sure the next time I'm in Miami, I'll stop by for sure!

Sorry for the already eaten food photos. Was hungry and didn't take the pics prior to stuffing my face......With that out of the way, this place is absolutely exquisite!!! This is one of those hole in the wall joints that make you really feel as if you're at home. My wife and I stopped in here on our vacation in Miami beach. From our hotel it was only a 12 minute drive, and when we arrived we were greeted by the staff very friendly. When my wife and I sat at the bar, the bartender was very nice. She asked us if we had been there before and when we told her no, she gave us the rundown of the food, the area, her life, and the restaurant. We opted to sit down and eat but decided to take our food to go. Before we left we took some pictures, (ugh....on my wife's phone of course) and the bartender offered to take for us. SUPER nice people to meet!! Now the food: WOW is all I can say. Out of this world!!! I had the goat curry, plantains, rice and beans. My wife had the red snapper, plantains, and a small salad I believe. It's flipping crazy how good this food is. The goat was SOOO tender and flavorful. I could barely tell the difference between this goat meat and typical lamb meat. The plantains were nice soft, slightly sweet, with this seasoning/crust or whatever that just set it off, and when you mix all this with the rice..............LAWD!!!!! They have these alcohol slushies they make and the peach SLAPS!!!! DO NOT SKIP ON THE PEACH SLUSHIE!!!! You are doing yourself a disservice if you are Miami near Miami beach and you don't stop here at some point. Please support this business, they definitely deserve it!

My mom and I swung by for lunch as we're in Miami for a bit. Vanie was our server and she was great! The dine in was empty when we got there so service was quick and prompt. Restaurant was clean. We order a large oxtail, rice & peas, steamed veggies, a mild beef patty, coco bread, and a ginger beer. It was AMAZING! I'm very particular about my oxtail and it was flavorful, cooked to perfection, and falling off of the bone. My mom loved her beef patty and coco bread which came out hot. We would definitely come again!

S

Authentic Jamaican food!! My husband loves ox tail and complains that he can never find a shop that serves good real Jamaican food. I accidentally found this joint as we were craving West Indian food and found this through google. The reviews and pics looked good so we decided to give it a shot! Great vibe and tasty food. No frills and it was super budget friendly. I highly recommend if you are looking for a chilled out relaxed evening. They also played awesome tunes!

I had been wanting to come to Clive's for a long time, and it was worth the wait. I had the jerk chicken, and was really impressed by how flavorful and fresh the chicken was. The chicken had a delicious fresh-off-the-charcoal taste with the right amount of heat, and if you add the jerk barbecue sauce, you're getting even nicer heat. (I added scotch bonnet pepper sauce, but I really like things hot). The rice and peas were seasoned deliciously. We also ordered ox tail, which also was seasoned well and cooked until tender. It's going to be hard not to go back to the restaurant more than once a week...but the prices are just at the point ($18 for the oxtail) to keep me under control. The food is very good, so I will be saving up to go again!

Got hit with pimento smoke the moment I walked in, I knew this was the real deal. In NYC, the rule of thumb is if you have rude service at a Jamaican restaurant the food is going to be superb; surprisingly excellent service at this place & food to match.

Jerk Chicken Pasta 🍝 was off the chain!!! 🇯🇲 This is a staple in Miami, being one of the oldest Jamaican restaurants in the city 🏙️ Try their jerk pork, jerk chicken and that delicious curry shrimp 🦐 Big shout out to Norman and the team for the amazing experience! #blessup

This is wow food all the way. I have eaten food from here before but never dined in. The service is stellar, the food is delicious and reasonably price. It's your neighborhood spot with an extra dose of cool and friendly. Now I am hooked. Try to brown stew chicken, or the oxtail with a side of rice and peas, don't forget macaroni and cheese. You will love it.

I heard about this restaurant on YouTube and had to try it out. This is a very cozy Jamaican restaurant with great music. I ordered the goat curry with rice, peas , and potato salad along with probably the best iced tea I've ever drank. The food was quite delicious and superb. So glad I was finally able to get there - I was missing out. Looking forward to returning and trying the jerk chicken. It was a very good dining experience.

Absolutely awesome. Brittany, our server was easy going and very helpful. The food was island amazing. I kid you not, it was Jamaican good. We found this place while trying to find something quick before boarding a cruise. I am so glad we found this little gem. Seriously, if you like Jerk food. Make the trip. Ask for Brittany. But I'm sure the entire staff is good. We were just lucky to have her while passing by.

Hands down, the best Jamaican food I’ve had in all of Miami. Jerk chicken is delicious and has become my favorite dish there with rice & peas and side of macaroni. The ox tail and goat are must try’s as well.

In search of jerk. Found it here. Had the pork and it was authentic, smoky, peppery and juicy. Cabbage was tasty and pseudo- nutritious and the rice and peas gave it a bit of island flair. The oxtail had a delicious gravy. They have a bar with no liquor. Service is prompt and courteous. Plenty of parking and a separate take-out entrance. Prices very reasonable for decent-sized portions.

M
Milly Newson

The food was fresh and delicious. I had the jerk pork. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The skin had the crispness from the grill and it was not burned. The plantains were sweet and the rice and peas were also good. My sister had a large curry chicken and she cleaned her plate. I could eat here everyday. The price was reasonable. The wait staff was attentive always smiled.

K

Unfortunately I was on the go so I had to do a to-go order. But I was satisfied with the food! I had curry chicken w double order of cabbage and it was tasty. I took a peek into the restaurant side and it looked nice/inviting! Would love to come back and dine in to get the full experience.

Felt like home. The vegetarian food was well prepared and the serving sizes were decent. The only critique I had was that my dishes were a little salty. The service was also really great. Our server was kind and helpful.

Several years since I'd last visited Clive's. Now it's twice in three months. I had the jerk chicken with white rice & steamed cabbage on the first visit. The food was pretty good. It was satisfying for Jamaican food, although the chicken could stand to be a little juicer and have more jerk flavor. The steamed vegetables were cooked to perfection. Also had the "ginger beer" which is really fresh ginger juice. A hair too sweet but the spice of the ginger felt great. Dined in on that visit and service was very friendly and efficient. Second visit was a Saturday evening takeout order. They were bussssyyy on the takeout side. (Dine-in and takeout are separated.) But service was still just as friendly and efficient. Wish I caught the lady's name who helped me because she was so nice! For takeout, I had oxtail with white rice and steamed cabbage, that spicy-sweet ginger juice again, and a beef patty - the only one left was spicy so I took it, although I prefer mild. The oxtail was cooked to tendee perfection with a rich seasoned sauce that the white rice held onto like a champ! Alongside that good steamed cabbage, I was well pleased with my food. The price was reasonable too. Only downside was the patty: it was dried out and although I prefer mild, when I hear "spicy", I'm looking for spicy. It was not at all spicy. Great service, good prices, good quality and taste. Clive's has been around for decades and is still kicking in the right direction, bringing authentic Jamaican food to the people.

The escoveitch fish was excellent. Well seasoned and the portion was good. Served with rice and peas with fried plantain. It was pricey but definitely worth it. The mannish water was also quite good. The wait was a bit long but the lounge played good reggae so the wait was tolerable.

Food was good. I wish I opted for the Brown Stew instead of the jerk chicken because I like sauce.

Solid Jamaican food! Really nice staff and music was bumping inside. Got the large oxtail, Mac and cheese, sweet plantains. The oxtail and plantains were excellent and fresh. The Mac and cheese had been cut from a block and was prepared before. Solid overall

Ordered large curry goat with rice, peas & plantain and 1lb jerk chicken. Overall the food was okay and the flavors were very mild. The jerk chicken tasted more like grilled chicken and the curry goat lacked a depth in flavor. I enjoyed the food because it tasted fresh and wasn’t overly oily, but flavor wise it was underwhelming. 🙏

The ladies who served breakfast, Kiki and Miss Pearl, are terrific. The artwork is cool. The food was bland and totally lacked seasoning. Based on my callaloo breakfast I wouldn't return.

Damn i usually come and it's great but several times already the jerk chicken feels like its left overs plus cold only during the week. It wasn't hitting like when I come on the weekends and it's fresh.

J
Joshua Dyer

First time here and I must admit the food tasted very authentic. Everything was very fresh and well seasoned. I enjoyed every bite. The only downside to this establishment is the dine-in service was atrocious. They were short staffed and it was the hardest to get any help. The staff would literally walk pass you as if you weren’t even there. Definitely would go back but only for takeout.

This is unfortunate that I have to leave an unsatisfactory review. I have been frequenting Clive's for nearly two decades. The last few times I've gotten food from there have been subpar, to say the least. But, this last time was just unacceptable. I took a gamble and ordered the Oxtail, boy, was i dissapointed. For the amount of money they're asking, I'm appalled that this is what they would serve me. Little to no meat. Just dozens of tiny unappealing, broken pieces of "oxtail", which above all else, tasted and had the texture of reheated, watered down leftovers. I was looking to have a nice rare treat, but was left utterly dissapointed. The owners no longer put the love and care into the food that they once did, yesteryear (ne 29th st). My advice....you're taking a gamble...money doesnt grow on trees.

M
Milinda S (Malin)

Walking in it was clean and quiet. I was greeted and serve as I placed the order for pickup around 10am. I paid and left with an order of saltfish, cabbage, and fried dumpling. I've had this order before from other restaurants and this is far the worse representation of this dish. I literally had two little pieces of saltfish which was fried and dried. Which was confusing when the cabbage is steamed. I was definitely starving as I didn't eat prior and drove from north Miami.

R
Red Holiday

Excellent service but the food is lacking, nothing to return for. Macaroni was runny and no flavor couldn't even finish it.

Clive's Jamaican Restaurant (Miami): Inconsistent Flavors, Endless Waits Clive’s promises a taste of Jamaica but delivers frustration. The service is painfully slow—expect to wait far longer than reasonable, even with a half-empty dining room. The food is hit-or-miss: the jerk chicken lacked depth one visit, but the oxtail was tender another. Portion sizes and seasoning vary wildly, making every meal a gamble. While the patties and rum punch shine, the inconsistency and glacial pace make Clive’s unreliable. Proceed with caution if you’re not prepared to wait endlessly for a maybe-good meal. Rating: 2.5/5

The food is too dry for the price! Asked for gravy on my rice and she gave me a teaspoon full! Fish had a funny taste like it wasn’t fresh. Overall 1 star quality. Will never be back!

C

This is whats left after i ate what little dried out and nasty meat from a large jerk pork. Pure gristle and fat, 75% completely inedible, i dont know how they can even plate this in good conscience. Ordered take out and couldnt come back, otherwise would have returned this immediately. Gave 2 stars only because ive had decent meals there in the past but its really hit or miss at this point. As another poster mentioned, the red pea soup was very watery a few weeks ago when i picked up. I think i will just stick to getting the steam veggies from here from now on. I really hope i dont get sick later.

First time trying Jamaican food. Main dish was really good. Potato salad was boring... Part that l didn't like. They don't put prices on the menu.... So they can charge you $20-$30 a plate you have no rights to argue... Once you sit down you agreed... I found pricey for small plate of food. $20 for Oxtail $12.00 for Curry goat

Siempre paso en las tardes. Decidi entrar.

Food is over priced, they say that you’re buying a pound of chicken and it’s a quarter pound. When you complain to them, they say that the system just puts it that way. Also the girl in the front (Britany) has a very ugly attitude, even for a place of inferior quality and character.

Looked up "most iconic meals in Miami" and saw that Clive's Jerk Chicken had an amazing reputation. We had it delivered and were very disappointed because they did not include silverware (we are staying in a hotel) so had to eat much of the meal with the lid of a container. I was a bit forgiving of the lack of silverware since it is a simple mistake. Then I saw the hair on our goat curry. Spent about $90 on this abomination with the delivery fee. If you plan on spending a lot on a meal I suggest you look elsewhere, Miami has more to offer you than this disappointment.

This was my first and last time going to this “restaurant” The Jamaican patties are frozen fake they don’t have a flake.Their cocoa bread is not good! They have bad attitude's! And another thing my Best friend front left tooth hurts very bad from the hard beef Pattie.

It's okay. Not like my mother's.. 🇯🇲 The food has a lack of seasoning. No carrots, the potatoes have diminished while cooking the chicken. The curry is weak, no thyme, bay leaf, no pimento balls, no onions, bell pepper and it ain't even hot a pepper... And this is curry chicken. No taste what's so ever. Mi nah like this at all. Yardie

I have ordered from you guys on several occasions and every time there is a problem. But this is it I will not order again. I just placed an order for a small stew peas and a small red peas soup via Uber. and you guys have the audacity to send me a cup of dirty water. I am Jamaican and know what it should taste like. What you guys did was, you had no more soup and rather than tell the customer you don't have any we put water in the pot and serve it as soup. It has no taste and is just a cup of dirty water. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I have attached a picture, you tell me if dat look like red peas soup to you?

"This was my first time visiting this location because a friend recommended it, saying the food was delicious. When I arrived, the hostess didn't greet me, which felt unwelcoming. I asked for the menu and inquired about lunch specials. I then ordered two plates of fried chicken, one goat, and one stew chicken. And then she told me that the fried chicken was going to take 20 minutes to cook like if I was in a hairy. Later, I decided to add another platter of fried chicken and let the hostess know I didn't want the shrimp I initially considered ordering. However, she seemed irritated when I made this change. When I received my food, I expected five containers in total based on my order, but I was only given four. When I pointed this out, she insisted I only ordered four, and her tone was rude. Additionally, the prices weren't listed on the menu, which made the experience feel less transparent. Overall, the poor customer service and lack of clarity about pricing left me disappointed, and I don't plan on returning."

I just ordered food here. $25 for a small ox tail with the and peas, $30 for a large. It doesn't come with steam vegetables or plantains which is customary when you order from jamaican restaurants. They're the only one in the neighborhood so I understand how they're able to get away with such higher prices than if they were in Miami gardens where there's a jamaican restaurant in every corner. But the food was no good.. no flavor on the ox tail.. the gravy looks watered down. Doesn't look like they browned the ox tail. I'm from Riversdale jamaica so, as a jamaican, I would not recommend this place at all! I attached pictures of my $30 ox tail plate.

Sorry...not sorry. Maybe one of the worst restaurants I've eaten probably ever ? Story Time! So sis who was the server, tall , thick, Jamaicsn chick probably had the worst customer service probably ever. But as a Jamaican, that's honestly a very universal punchline but usually that's because the food is GOOD. Yeah her service was SO bad, that a gentleman walked up to our table, saw that we had got our food apparently before his table , who looked like they were celebrating, and he asked for the manager and it was like a huge commotion. My mom ordered the jerk pork which was all fat, tasted like wild boar, and the server was at least kind enough to bring her some pieces of meat instead of fat. Worst rice and peas i had inna mi life! Worst red pea soup, probably ever . Worst patties, idk how they're in business. If unnuh wan fi try REAL jamaican food go to Cliffs! ! not Clives . or hmu! i'm finna start selling plates if this place can maintain business
