Everything was above and beyond the owner. Mohammed gave us a tour of their gorgeous dog friendly patio. The food is delicious, hearty portions. I'm local and never stopped by until tonight. I'm so happy we did. I loved it, and my husband's steak was the best he's ever had. The wait staff was very attentive. It was the best dining experience I've had post Covid. Can't wait to celebrate my birthday there in October 😁

Just passing through on the way to Oakland and stopped for the day. Walked down the street and saw the Monterey Cookhouse. The minute I walked in I told my wife, man it smells good in here. The menu was amazing and hard to choose . I ordered the salmon and my wife ordered the lasagna. The atmosphere was amazing the food was presented very well. I ate so fast I accidentally bit my lip. The rice was delicious and the vegetables were cooked just right . I usually eat the main course first so I don’t get filled up but for some reason I left the salmon last, each bite was better than the last. I looked at my wife’s plate and she had maybe two bites left and couldn’t finish so I ate the rest of her supper and felt like I should’ve ordered the lasagna. We sat and the waiter came over and asked us if everything was okay…we didn’t have room for dessert so we ordered a slice of cheese cake to go. We talked to the waiter about the area and the weather, we felt like we were regulars. Later on we opened up the cheesecake and we had two forks two napkins. This was one of the memorable stories we have since we started our drive from Ft.Lauderdale Fl. Thanks for a great story.

My wife and I were in Monterey for our Anniversary. We decided to dine in at this restaurant to have an anniversary dinner and it was pleasant. Waiter made sure we were doing good and another gentleman who also worked there checked on us periodically to make sure we were also doing good. Food was tasty and great. Prices were very reasonable. I would dine here again when visiting the town.

My group had the best experience at the Monterey cookhouse. The brisket dip is probably the best thing I ate the whole weekend, but everything here was delicious and reasonably priced. Make sure you save room to order dessert! Staff is great, the outdoor seating area has a great ambiance. Definitely recommend.

I loved this place. The ribeye was excellent and the waitress, Delmy, was awesome. I arrived shortly after they opened, but before they expected customers. Delmy took care of me quickly, being lively and personable. I never felt I needed anything.

My husband and I stopped in for dinner. We were seated quickly. The food was very tasty and the service was great. The server was very attentive despite how busy the place was. My husband ordered the rib eye and it was cooked exactly the way he wanted it. I ordered the tortellini with shrimp. Both entrees were delicious.

We wanted a nice meal that allowed dogs as we were traveling with our pet. Looking online, I found this place was pet friendly, and that was the truth! The patio here is perfect; it's such a fun outdoor ambiance. The plants and flowers everywhere are a nice touch. A nice gentleman came by our table and asked us how things were, I am assuming the owner or a manager. It was a nice mom and pop shop touch. Oh, and after we got settled, the waitress brought us some water for our dog, too. 😊 I have allergies, so I always hesitate to order too much without asking about ingredients, and I often have to change the order in some way. The waitress was very helpful and was able to answer my questions and make adjustments as needed so I could have a full meal. The salad was a little over soaked with dressing (a very tasty dressing, by the way), but aside from that, I have no complaints. We had a grilled artichoke, Mediterranean chicken salad, and a steak with vegetables. Again, it was all delicious. We look forward to making this place a regular stop when we are in the area. Keep the grill hot for us!

One of the nicest restaurants in Seaside, in my opinion. The restaurant has an upscale and welcoming vibe. The food was all very good and nicely presented. A hidden gem off Fremont.

The salmon was cooked just right to where is was juicy olinside and crisp on the outside with the topping that was very good. The pilaf and veggies were also very good. Also had the tiramisu that was probably one of the best that I have ever had. Service was friendly but you could tell that they are short staffed.

Staff: Very friendly, attentive, helpful, and accommodating. When my boyfriend asked for jalapenos, they brought them to him. When he said they weren't spicy enough, they brought him some habanero hot sauce. The waiter totally understood the assignment :) Food: Great! I had the grilled Mahi Mahi, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. The fish was cooked to perfection, the coconut curry sauce was delicious, and the vegetables were not over cooked. A little over salted (veggies), but still good. They brought out some bread prior to the meal and it was fluffy and the butter was creamy and delicious. Desserts (cheesecake and mousse) were fantastic. Atmosphere: The only thing I didn't like was the size of the tables, I felt so far away from the person sitting across from me. This of course is not such a big deal. But it was a little strange. After we ate, we noticed they have an outdoor patio/ garden area. Maybe next time we'll ask to be seated there.

Perfect dinner with a group of 12 friends. All of our food was amazing, service was on point, and it was a great atmosphere. It wasn't too loud for us all to be able to chat. Prices weren't bad compared to much of what we have been experiencing in California. We are not from here so we had a bit of sticker shot, but this seemed right for how nice the place was and how good the food was. Definitely recommend.

Stopped by for lunch. The grilled artichoke, pulled pork sliders, and brisket panini were all scrumptious. Our server Megan was very friendly and attentive. We will be back to try more of the menu.

Listen here! This place is a true hidden gem. The drinks are phenomenal, beer is cold, and food is amazing. I enjoyed the lobster ravioli with grilled prawns and finished up with a lemon drop. The service was instant, customer service unrivalled. I felt like I was the only customer in the restaurant. I chose to sit at the bar because frankly bartenders have the best info to give about an area and like to chat when they aren't slammed. Prices are very reasonable as well. This place has the feel of a casual Italian restaurant with an Irish twist at the bar. Will be back over and over and over again.

What an amazing find. We were looking for a hidden gem and we found one. Marcos guided us to some spectacular dishes, including lobster ravioli and the beast burger. What an amazing feast. Dessert was an extra special treat and a must. We'll be back with friends we want to impress.

This is a very small and intamite eatery. The food was well worth the wait. My husband and I attempted to have dinner here on a Sunday evening. They open at 5pm. If your not at the door by 4:30, be prepared to wait up too two hours. We couldn't wait it out. But we did return for lunch the next day. Koodles to the chef!!!

We had a great night here! Our server Ashley was awesome and the owner came around as well and talked to us. Personable staff and cozy outdoor seating with heat lamps. Beautiful garden and plants as well as peach trees; the owner and Ashley had our daughter pick a couple to take home. Fish and chips and pizzas were great as well as my watermelon margarita. Other staff was also great ; prompt service, brought our child’s water in a cup with a lid. Can’t wait to come back!

If you go make sure you ask for Marcos to be your waiter! He is phenomenal! My fiancée and I have never known such good service and his personality made the last night of our vacation spectacular! The food was amazing! From the wings to the wedge salad to the soup, calamari and bruschetta…. We were here for hours! We tried it all while enjoying the football playoffs. Make sure you ask Marcos to make you his own creation of the carrot and cucumber vodka martini. You will not be disappointed. It is so refreshing and delicious. Make sure you visit here.

Just had an idea excellent 14oz ribeye steak here. Cooked perfectly and it was a good cut, well marbled. Twice baked potato was delicious and even the side vegetables were delicious (zucchini and carrots. They put bread n butter on the table too. Large and spacious inside dining and an outside patio …looks like they created it for outdoor covid dining. Worth a drop and I will return.

I came here for a weekend trip to Monterey. This restaurant was right across the street from our Motel. It was delicious! The beef brisket dip is a must! They have an all-you-can-eat buffet every day from 11:30 to 2:30 p.m. Eveything was so good. I will definitely be back here on my next visit to Monterey Bay

My husband and I travel to Monterey for 1-2 weeks at a time once a year. We always make plans to try at least 3 new restaurants or more depending on the length of our stay. The food here was amazing! My husband had "The Beast" burger. It was so good and lots of flavor. I had the 3 cheese tortellini with grilled chicken and I loved the little bit of spice it had. Our son had the kids chicken and fries. He's usually picky about his chicken but he enjoyed it so much he wouldn't have even allow myself or dad to try it lol. Our server was Ashley and she was absolutely amazing! We had mentioned that our son recently turned 4 she brought him a small dessert with a candle in it as a late birthday treat. It was such a sweet gesture. We will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family and we can't wait to visit again in the future.

I am impressed with this restaurant. The fact that we had two bad experinces previously with Osteria Al Mare and Bubba Gumps had NOTHING to do with my Monterey Cookhouse review. OMG their bruschetta is so refreshing and a good portion. Hubby had the lobster ravioli and I had their sliders. The food and their service is outstanding. I usually test their service with the refill of my tea. Even this exceeded my expecrarion. I recommend the bruschetta. The way I described to the hubby, the flavour of it is like a splash of cold spring water to my face but on my pallet. We come to breakwater often to dive. We will definitely be back after our dives in the future. Service: A+++ Food Quality: A+++ Price: A+

My wife and I stopped at this restaurant while spending the weekend in Monterey. She ordered the Braised Short Ribs and I ordered the Fisherman's Plate. We shared, of course. Both meals were delicious. The meat on the ribs was cooked to perfection – it was tender and juicy. Also, everything on the Fisherman's plate – calamari, salmon, shrimp – was cooked just right, with a lot of flavor. Each plate was over $40, but so well worth it. The service was friendly and we were seated immediately. Our server was great at answering our questions and he was the one that recommended the Braised Short Ribs (great call). It was a Saturday night, around 7:30 pm, when we arrived. We thought there would be more people dining out, but there were only about 4 other groups in this large restaurant. Patrons slowly trickled in and it got a little busier as the evening went on. The decor was rustic and the outdoor patio seemed nice. It was too cold to eat outside during our visit. Overall, the food was amazing and the service was great. I have already recommended this spot to my family. My wife and I look forward to dining here again the next time we are in town.

As you walk through the doors, you are greeted with the aroma of the wood-fired oven and grill. I was seated by the vibrant server Ashley; she was friendly but not familiar. A trait in great service that I hold in high regard. Well-versed on the expansive menu ( pictured here and current as of Jan 2025 ). She was helpful in making a recommendation. The Grilled Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo was fantastic. Personally, I prefer my pasta al dente, but theirs was not what I'd consider over-cooked. The Alfredo sauce was delicious but nondescript- it just didn't "wow" me - if made fresh, I prefer a little more kick with the garlic. It was not over-seasoned. The grilled chicken, with which it was topped was delightful- seasoned and cooked to perfection. Moist and juicy with a perfect crust; it is the chicken, which made this dish shine. The insalada caprese was freshly prepared, the greens cool and crisp. Fresh Mozz sparingly topped with basil. I found the balsamic glaze to be a bit watery and ALMOST cloyingly sweet. Portion sizes were respectable. Pricing was overall reasonable, perhaps a little pricey for the area; however, I have little to compare it to. Nearly everything here in California seems quite high to this Louisiana man. Overall 4.25/5 Stars - I will definitely be dining here again. Thanks again, Ashley, for your wonderful service, knowledge, and cheerful attitude ( despite being the only waitstaff on the floor when I arrived. ) You made this a wonderful dining experience - please give New Orleans another chance- feel free to reach out to me for all its great restaurants, events, and entertainment venues.

The place is a bit pricey, but it's amazing!!!! I ordered the sampler and pulled pork sliders! Everything was PERFECT! The brisket was able to be cut with a fork. Ribs fell of the bone! My wife got the salmon and was pleased! To top it off, they obviously clean the soda machines because thier root beer was on point! Please see pics from the day! I will be back ASAP! I forgot to mention the sliders were also legit af! I was not able to try the desert, but they have a pretty decent line up.

We decided to try this place and were not disappointed. We started with an appetizer of perfectly prepared calamari. It was tender and not rubbery at all. For the main course, I had the lasagna with meatballs and an excellent glass of Cabernet (Carmel Road) and my son had the spaghetti bolognese and he took 2 of my meatballs. Lol The generous portion of lasagna was extremely flavorful and my son had no complaints about his spaghetti as he ate all of it. I would definitely return if in the area. I had my eye on the rib eye but didn’t get a chance to try it this time around.

It's hard to find restaurants these days that are worthy of a 5 star rating, but this is one of them. Service was quick and friendly, and the food was excellent, though a bit pricy. The restaurant is conveniently located in the hotel district, though a bit tedious to get to, because of the fenced off bike path running in through the middle of the road. The place is massive, and has a very nice ambiance, especially in the evening. We ordered the New York Steak with Twice Baked Potatoes, Blackened Chicken and Short Ribs. The Blackened Chicken was byfar my favorite of the three dishes, and had I known that they put the BBQ sauce in a container, and not on the chicken, I would have ordered this dish instead. The best thing about it is probably its variety. They serve everything from Italian pizza, to sea food. So there really is something for everyone. Amazingly it was a warm weekend, and the place wasn't super crowded. Definitely recommend it if you're looking for a place to eat in Monterey. I guess my only complaint is I was a little confused, because I could have sworn their menu had breakfast items listed, but the restaurant doesn't open 'til 11:30.

The service was great but the food needs improvement. The baby back ribs were flavorful but dry. We also had the pasta with meatballs and while the pasta was tasty, a couple meatballs were really hard. I couldn't even cut it with the fork let alone chew it. Your staff made a big difference...they were friendly and attentive.

Excellent hidden gem. You don't have a view of the bay (other wise would be 5 star) . The food is well prepared, high quality & nicely presented. The indoor seating is nice & open with great decor. The outside garden seating is very nice & secluded, has a very nice feel. Service was great & the servers very polite. It's still a Monterey restaurant so prices range from about $18 to around $60/plt. The food quality was well worth it. Our party of 8 had nothing but good reviews on the food. We enjoyed; steak, salmon, chicken, sea food medley , & beef brisket. Calamari appetizer was a favorite.

Wonderful food and good service. If you like beef and ribs this is the place to go.. my friends order short ribs, brisket, and baby back ribs. They were cooked falling apart off the bone with nice gravy and tender meat. The plate came with mash potatoes and roasted vegetables. The other plate had fries on it. I had the fish and chips for a light meal. It was very good and well cooked.

I was solo so ate at the bar where Marco took excellent care of me. Made a very fine martini. Friendly and efficient service.

I’d like to start off by saying that the service was phenomenal. I could not have asked for a better quality of care. We ordered the fried calamari and that was good. My wife got the beef short ribs and really liked them. I ordered the New York strip. It wasn’t seasoned well and was more medium rare than medium. The twice baked potato was delicious but the vegetables were bland. We were given a complimentary dessert which I appreciated and it was absolutely delicious. Overall I would come back and eat here if I was in the area (our motel was right Down the street) but probably wouldn’t make it a point to go there. If I did I would order something other than steak. Again, the service was phenomenal.

First the food was really good and our server was very nice. Also fast service. Now on to the bad. Don’t call your shrimp prawns. They are not even close. The atmosphere was weird. It was like it was having an identity crisis. Is it a BBQ joint, a sports bar, or fine dining? It had the TVs and bar signs of a sports bar, a bunch of food options including bbq, and the prices of fine dining. What really made us mad was charging us $5 for using a credit card after we spent $125 before tip on a dinner for two without telling us about the surcharge. Your prices are already high for Outback Steakhouse quality food. Charging $5 on a credit card transactions just comes off cheap. Not telling us before hand just seems shady.

Great patio with heaters, excellent service, dog friendly, queer friendly and overall great experience. Bruschetta was amazing. Brisket was a little dry, but the whole meat sampler was wonderful. Would definitely go again.

The food at Monterey Cookhouse was excellent, and the service was good. However, the portion sizes didn’t quite match the price, leaving us wanting more. Also, they kept the door open, which let in a lot of cold air and made the dining experience less comfortable. Overall, a solid spot for a meal, but a few improvements could make it even better.

This place has really good food. We’ve been here a few times now and tried a few different plates and every one has been delicious. Their lobster ravioli (when you can get it) is fabulous. Also their surf and turf is definitely worth it. Probably one of the best steaks and lobster we’ve ever had. The service is sometimes slow but it won’t stop us from coming back

Monterey Cookhouse was a recommendation by a local. The decor and atmosphere were nice. The staff were also nice. We ordered the smoked sampler and lobster ravioli. The lobster ravioli was really good. On the sampler, the brisket was tender but not cooked like a Texas brisket with the charred layer on the outside of the meat. The pull pork slider was the best on the plate. The ribs were well cooked and tender but did not have enough flavor which may be ok for some. The food is a bit pricey but it is a nice place for date night.

This place was at one time probably a fantastic place. If you go I recommend a steak but be prepared to pay for it. The 3 steaks ordered at the table were good. The wings pasta and salads were not so good. The resturant is worn and not as clean as it should be for the prices.

The food was ok but watch for you drinks I got 2 lemonades one for my son and one for me mine had a dead bug I told the server and the new lemonade I got had an ant but didn't say anything I checked my son drink and had a bug too but also didn't say anything. No discount or nothing. Place also needs to be deep cleaned, dust everywhere, tables not clean and wobbly, fork had dried food.

Food was good. Dessert was ok. It was tasty but the cake was very stale. Easy to tell it had been sitting in the cooler for several days. We started with one server and halfway through our meal had another server. The second was an older than the rest in the place and she was pretty rude. Acted as if it were a problem to have our check split between two families. After waiting an unreasonable amount of time for her to come back to pick up the check we had go up to the front to finish checking out. Wasn’t a terrible experience. I would try it again but if the service were the same I wouldn’t return.

I ordered the grilled salmon salad "Blackened" I got The grilled salmon salad. Lol The salmon was fresh and tender but the salad itself was plain and boring with little chips of candied walnuts? or pecans? I couldn't tell. the salad dressing was the best part of this whats normally "easy not to mess up" salad. Lol My lemon drop cocktail came in a margarita glass and well kind of tasted like a margarita, I'm not sure if it had alcohol or not.¿ but they missed the mark on that one. Having said that the Mahi Mahi dinner sides mashed potatoes and vegetables were flavorful and quite good. I'm told the fish was good but a little rubbery. Not sure if id go back but the ribs looked delicious. Our waitress Ashley was friendly and delightful and worth the whole experience.

The steak was ok, but the clam chowder was good along with the bake potatoes. They have an interesting outdoor patio and any fruit in the patio you can pick and eat.

Some of the happy hour food. 1) calamari was under cooked 2) ribs were over cooked and dry 3) brisket was good, but one was on the dry tasteless side 4) onion rings were spot on I’m thinking the meat is yesterday reheated If I got any of this on the regular menu it would have went back.

Ordered the Ribeye. Got a very low quality strip instead (tough). Not a hair on fat on this thing. Zero. The waiter was attentive so the service gets a plus.

June 2021- We ordered here because of the reviews and pictures on Google. We ordered to go. It turned out horrible. The fish, and the first on the pizza came burnt. The batter fell off the fish as well, meaning it was battered in house, but improperly. Spent $56 on 2 entrees. Wast of money...

Not impressed with our to go order at all. We ordered the smoke sampler. They charged $24 for this which came to more than $27 with tax. Everything was dry like it was reheated from yesterday. For $27 we received 3 ribs, 3.5 pieces of brisket, and a pulled pork sandwich that might satisfy a five year old. So roughly $3 per rib and piece of brisket. The service was poor even for a to go order. The host rang up my card, handed me the receipt, left my card in the credit card machine and just walked away. We had to walk behind the desk and get it back ourselves. Needless to say we won't back anytime soon. That was a complete waste of money.

Brisket was old. Like where you either cook it too much, or kept in the steam tray too long. Then it becomes mushy/mealy. Pizza crust and sauce tasted flavorless. Fresh mozzarella and fresh tomatoes on the Margherita Pizza were instead just Pizza cheese and canned tomatoes. Fries good. Iced tea good. But the 3 meals ordered were not. With a very high price.
