We celebrated my birthday at Zuzu on a Sunday night. The drinks were wonderful, the food was magnificent and the service was great. In the tradition of tapas we tried many of their offerings and every one was so tasty. We sat on the patio which provided us the opportunity to hold conversation in the open air. When all is said and done, we would happily dine at Zuzu again - big thumbs up.
At first, I was very disappointed with the portion sizes. I thought they were way too small! For example, the empanadas only came with one, but I really thought each dish was unique and of high-quality. The ceviche was soaked in coconut milk and was my favorite dish! The flat iron steak was a table favorite. we ordered the pork cheek which was mostly fat and we would not normally like, however it was seasoned with the plum sauce everyone ate it up even the empanadas we ordered three, each plate does only come with one empanada but the bread was so crumbly and sweet it was so good! The service was also good, they did forget one of our orders and I overheard the servers discussing their mistake, all was well we did order a lot of food. We were a table of eight people and got our own private seating upstairs at a large table, with a great view it was good I would recommend it small plates a bit pricey but it was very good.
Very small and intimate. I sat on the bar and ordered the octopus that they had on special. It was so tender and tasty!
The Boguerones tapa (anchovies on toast with egg) was fresh and enough for two to share (four, if everyone just wants a bite). There was a generous portion of juicy heirloom tomatoes on the Heirloom Salad, however I thought the mascarpone cheese was too sweet. If you like ceviche, the Flounder Ceviche was fantastic! It had more avocado blended in than the traditional styles and the jicama gave it a nice crunch. Lovely spot for tapas and cocktails!
What a delicious meal this was! Came here with 4 friends after our napa trip, the wait was long, and they don't take reservations if I'm not mistaken. However, once we sat down and ordered, the food started showing up and each dish was better than the previous. The finale was the paella, which is by far the best dish of the night. All in all, it was a great ending to a fun napa day trip. If you are ever unsure what to eat after visiting napa, give this place a try, I think you will enjoy it as much as we did! 😀
Wanted to order everything on the menu. Everything tastes great, albeit very pricey. Nice outing for a bit of a splurge! I got the Boquerones and lamb chops which were both delicious. The Boquerones were more unique, but the lamb chop was super delicious and tender, and did have a slightly unique taste.
Great Spanish cuisine. Everything we had was very well prepared and fresh. Tapas are good small plates and main dishes are to share for two people. Both Paella we tried with sausage and seafood were excellent . Tapas mussels very fresh. Has a lot if GF selection and they are sure that kitchen separate the GF items from other for people who has serious allergy. Bask desert cake was excellent. Wine selection is mainly Spanish without local wines.
Wait staff is very attentive but not to the point of being intrusive. I ordered the Turbo Tuna Cerviche, pan seared Manchego and the morrocan style lamb chops. First off the Tuna Cerviche was very fresh( I mean very very fresh) it had vibrant but subtle citrus based notes with cored and seeded Jalapeño which give just enough heat to stand up to rhe citrus vingeratte, 2nd was the pan seared Manchego cheese great but not spectacular. IMO it was slightly overdressed however the roasted Poblano chili elevated this entree. Next up is the Moraccan style lamb, DELICIOUS. anyone that has had lamb knows it is temperamental to prepare properly. This dish doesn't need any dialog other than THE CHEF KNOWS HOW TO COOK LAMB. Must make this entree a regular on the menu. All said I will return and anticipate ordering other offerings on the ever changing menu.
Really such an experience coming in, the ambience is great. Came in for the lobster paella and loved it. Has a strong tomato based taste, pleasantly paired with the sauce they serve with it. Not sure if this is a constant, but do know that this particular dish took 30 minutes to make and the staff did kindly let me know beforehand which I acknowledged. Meanwhile the staff offered me small dishes as I waited which I loved.
Booked our holiday party here and it was a 10/10. Food was incredible, service was warm and on point and the upstairs room had a beautiful view of the river. Everything was PERFECT!
The waiter, Michael was amazing. His suggestion for drinks and food was suburb. The Atmosphere was amazing trees, families, walking with kids and dogs. The nicest Staff ever.
Zuzu was a lovely tapas experience in Napa Valley. We dined there on the first night we got into Napa and despite it being colder than average, the patio was a lovely, warm, experience with heaters, good wine, amiable servers and phenomenal tapas. My personal favorite was the boquerones, but my sisters thoroughly enjoyed the lamb. We had about 6 tapas for the table, two desserts and wine and it worked up to about $60 a person. Highly recommend for a dinner res when visiting Napa
I made a reservation in advance, but it looked like they had a few tables open when we got there on a Wednesday night. Still good to book, though. We were welcomed warmly and were seated right away. The server was friendly and was able to answer our questions and gave good food and wine recommendations. We got the octopus, steak, pork cheek, and the paella del dia with a tempranillo wine. All amazing choices and just the right amount of food for 2. Note on the paella, we found it delicious, but the flavor can get overpowering after a few bites. Make sure to mix in the crème fraîche (I believe that's what it was) they put on the center into the food. Balances out the flavors nicely. All in all, great experience. Would go again.
We first tried this place a few years ago and especially loved the bacalao (salted cod), so we wanted to come back for a revisit. We ordered the bacalao, as well as the Tunisian brik pastry and the black seafood paella, and everything was delicious! Although the bacalao was good, we remember it being creamier or saucier all those years ago, and our server theorized that a different olive oil may have been used back then, which could have changed the flavor or consistency. Regardless, it was a very tasty meal, even if it didn't match the heights of our previous experience. The savory brik pastry was a pleasant surprise, and we cleaned up the seafood paella down to the last crispy, flavorful grain on the pan. On a whim, we ordered the basque cake for dessert, which was like a pound cake topped with fruit preserves, and enjoyed it too. The outdoor setup is pleasant and COVID-safe, and it's also really nice that the whole street is closed off from traffic. I'd recommend wearing layers and possibly coming in before sunset because it gets cold for dinner, and the heat lamps are spread a little too far apart to be helpful. Service was excellent throughout; we wanted for nothing during our meal. I highly recommend this place for a nice variety of dishes if you're in the downtown Napa area. Just note that the plates are small--this is a tapas place, after all--so set your price-to-quantity expectations accordingly.
Came after a whole day of wine tasting on a Saturday. We did not have reservation and waited for half an hour to be seated for a party of two. The quality of tapas is amazing! ZuZu has many interesting dishes. The smoked duck salad has a perfect balance of smokiness and acidity. We also loved the Spanish omelet with sweet potato and green onion - it had an interesting seafood taste to it. The paella was a little spicy but also amazing. Pro tip: bread is available upon request
We ate dinner at Zuzus. It was amazing! Every dish we ordered was delicious! They were very busy but the waiters were still attentive.
Probably one of the best spots in downtown Napa! Many small plate food choices for sharing - great cocktails too! We sat upstairs and loved the cozy area to enjoy our meal. Service was fantastic. We recommended Zuzu to people on our wine tour, and we saw them all enjoying a beautiful night that evening with some delicious fare!!
Excellent!!! Amazing food, good wine, friendly service, and a great outdoor seating. Arrived without a reservation but was able to get a table within 30-40 minutes. Zuzu has a sister restaurant beside it in which you can go there to have some starters and drinks while waiting on your table. Will surely come back next time I’m in town.
Came to eat here based on a recommendation. Service was really good and the place was super cozy. Food was amazing! If I’m in Napa again this will be a must stop for lunch or dinner! My favorites were the tartar and paella 🙂↕️
A perfect experience. The space is relatively small and comfortably loud. Bustling. Tapas can be a challenge, having to execute many dishes well. Zuzu has more than stepped up to that challenge. Everything we ordered was exceptional. Great textures, flavors were balanced and portion size was spot on. Started with some Mediterranean olives. A simple dish perfectly executed. The Queso Frito was perfectly crisp on the outside and melted gooey goodness on the inside. The sauce was so good we dipped everything into it. More, please! Gambas al Ajillo were tender and spiced with a garlic sauce with bread for soaking up every delicious drop. The Cuban sweet potato and crispy yuca was deliciously different and yet satisfyingly familiar. A masterful blend of textures and flavors. Finished with the Pot de Creme. Chocolate, cream, spice. Brilliant. Start to finish, this is one of the best meals we have had anywhere at any price. Go and enjoy. 100% would go back.
Every dish we tried was a success. The best paella we have tried in the USA so far. It is pricey but worth every penny. This was our second time here and it was amazing. Highly recommend. We tried the mushroom fideos, paella del día, gambas al ajillo, roasted vegetables croquetas del día, bacalao, tortilla española basque cake and tres leches.
Amazing, amazing tapas and paella. Favorites that we ordered were gambas al ajillo, the shrimp was seasoned well and perfectly cooked. Catalan salad was refreshing and the honey balanced out the tartness. arroz negra was just perfect Usually restaurants go cheap on the fish but the fish here was amazing. akaushi flat iron steak is a must. Least favorite were the lamp chops, the season was just overpowering for our pallette. The gin cocktails were amazing.
It really is A Wonderful Life at Zuzu Xtra points if you get the reference ;) Every bite of every dish was exceptional. Ceviche- different & delicious. Queso frita-YUM! Mussels- possibly my favorite! And Paella del dio-WOW! We will be back!
Our second time here did not disappoint, every dish was delicious and the seafood paella is to die for. The flat iron steak melted in our mouths. The roasted vegetables were the perfect side to our paella. I would seriously go there for just a side of this! We will always come here when visiting Napa!
The food here is excellent. The Paella is incredible. Not much atmosphere and staff were not mean, but also not friendly. Definitely go for the food
First of all Jesse is a great guy. Very observant and good on recommendations and being attentive and offering specials they have (which i got all). I tend to go in places and i dont know what to get. Ive never had tapas so having someone like Jesse guiding you and offering is a big help. I had the tai snapper ceviche and the pork cheek and tongue and the ceviche bass. It was all good thanks to Jesse for offering me to good food that was not on the menu. I only got a picture of the pork tongue and cheek.
Very friendly staff, excellent food, and a nice atmosphere! I really enjoyed the Black Seafood Paella and they have a perfect wine selection to pair with the food. Very tasty Spanish cuisine and pretty authentic too! Also, I've had a lot of different olives, but these were definitely unique with a variety of flavors to sample
ZuZu in Napa offers a delightful selection of Spanish-influenced dishes that are both delectable and of exceptional quality. The service was not only efficient but also remarkably friendly, enhancing our dining experience. We truly appreciated the cozy ambiance with warm, inviting lighting and rustic decor, which transported us to an authentic European setting. Although we didn't have the opportunity to sample cocktails, wine, or other beverages on this visit, the overall experience left us thoroughly satisfied. The price point provided excellent value for the high-quality food and welcoming atmosphere. ZuZu was a lovely experience, and we recommend it to friends and fellow food enthusiasts. I'm eagerly looking forward to returning and indulging in the paella dishes that have piqued my interest in the review photos. Lastly, I was too hungry on my last visit and forgotten to take any photos of our food- a testament to its yumminess.
We got there on a Sunday evening and there were few open options... But this place was not just a place to "settle". It is now a destination. Two things I loved... Damian treated us like family, helped simplify our options and recommend truly unique dishes (and have to admit, while I wouldn't have at first selected some of those -like the grilled salad- I can't wait to go back for more. The second point I truly appreciated, they understand how to eat tapas and Spanish food. They brought one or maybe 2 things at the time, left time for us to chat, enjoin the food and wine, and then after a while brought additional food. This is the way you eat Spanish food. No rush. Not everything at once. It's about enjoying each other's company and conversation with delicious food to enhancerl it all. It was the perfect experience after a long, stormy and messy travel day.
Accepts reservations with a $10 charge per person which is credited to your bill. Used to frequent when we lived in Napa, stopped by on a visit back. Food was superb and service was good. It’s an intimate spot lots of tables for 2-4 people also upstairs seating. It’s small plates so you can share and try many things. They stagger service and don’t serve them all at once which is appreciated.
What an amazing discovery! You must try to understand what I mean. Lovely area and cozy sitting. But what truly impressed me was the taste of the food. The Plato’s of Sand dabs and grilled Veggies is the best of the best! Coming back especially to please myself with the taste of those dishes!!
In a nice afternoon, sitting outside, then enjoyed a nice meal. Couldn't be better. Service was great and we learned that the owner not only bought the neighboring two other restaurants, but also took the head chef to Spain to different restaurants learning different ways to cook Spanish dishes.
We had an excellent dining experience at ZuZu. We ordered a salad, garlic soup, lamb tartare, flat iron steak and the seafood paella. The only minor complaint we had was the seafood paella. It only had salmon and claims on top, and the claims were quite fresh. I later saw pictures of the dish from other reviews with shrimps and squid. Overall we enjoyed all our food. The ambiance was very good. Our server was extremely nice and friendly, that definitely added to our dining experience.
Best spanish restaurant I have ever had. Highly recommended. The tapas at this Spanish restaurant are absolutely amazing! They are unique and unlike anything I’ve had at other Spanish restaurants. The dishes are beautifully presented, and the flavors are outstanding. Highly recommend!
Top class place for dinner. We had dinner around 9pm. Would recommend the shrimp and the mussels. Great choice recommendations from our server. Place was busy and had a great atmosphere.
Great Tapas place. Food quality was very fresh and good. The dessert was worth the little extra splurge. We ate at the bar in our server / bartender Trevor took excellent care of us. Everyone working at the bar would check on us. They contributed to a great evening. They were also very informative about wines and food recommendations.
Garrett was AMAZING!!! The food, AMAZING. Service, AMAZING!! Gem salad, spaghetti squash, flatiron steak and the potato’s (I don’t remember the name) were so amazing!! Soo delcicious! Also ordered a Leon drop rum martini that was chefs kiss 😘
A Standout Culinary Highlight in Downtown Napa! We visited ZuZu while in town for the Lighted Art Festival, and I honestly wasn’t prepared for how delicious the experience would be. While we were initially a bit concerned about being seated near the door—each opening brought a rush of cold air—the food quickly made us forget the chill. The menu is packed with tempting options, so we just kept ordering! While everything we tried was solid (7s and 8s across the board), three dishes were absolute showstoppers (9/10): Roasted Spaghetti Squash: A seasonal gem that was packed with flavor. The Pork Chop: This was a "special," and it truly lived up to be special. Arroz Negro Paella: Perfectly executed and a must-order. We finished with the Apple Empanada and two other desserts. The Apple Empanada is a dream for apple pie lovers. While the quality is excellent, the serving sizes are smaller than expected for the price. Logistics are a breeze since there’s plenty of street parking and a garage nearby, making everything in downtown walkable. If you’re in Napa and looking for incredible shareable plates, ZuZu is a must-visit. Just be sure to make a reservation!
This place is a local favorite, and now it’s even better with an in-house mixologist and bar area! He was super friendly, informative, and knowledgeable - definitely a great add to this place! The one thing I wish they would do differently is change up their menu. They’ve had the same tapas on the menu for years.. if they could figure out how to make a rotational menu, they’d really blow it out of the park!
Tapas Adventure with Dear Friends at ZuZu, Napa, California Our day in Napa with Dr. T and his wife was truly one to remember. After visiting the legendary wineries—Chateau Montelena and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, both part of the famous 1976 Judgment of Paris—we ended our afternoon with something more casual yet equally special: a stop at ZuZu, a cozy little Spanish tapas restaurant tucked in downtown Napa. The moment we stepped inside, I felt as if we had wandered into a warm bodega somewhere in Spain. The rustic interior, soft lighting, and the cheerful Spanish hostess who greeted us with a smile instantly made us feel at home. It was one of those places where conversation flows easily and time slows down—perfect for catching up with good friends. We decided to share a few tapas, keeping it light before dinner. The Ceviche arrived first—a bright mix of flounder, avocado, citrus, and jicama. That crisp, watery sweetness from the jicama really surprised me; it reminded me a little of chestnut, and I couldn’t help but rave about it. The Pear Salad, with candied bacon and a PX sherry vinaigrette, was another delightful surprise—so well-balanced and refreshing. Then came the Gambas al Ajillo, sizzling shrimp in garlic, pequin chili, and smoky pimentón. The sauce was irresistible—we wiped the plate clean with toasted bread. Since our friends had never tried Jamón, I had to introduce them to this Spanish treasure. Its deep color, savory flavor and silky texture were unforgettable. I still laugh thinking about my mistake—I initially mistook the two brown bread for slices of Jamón on the black plate! That little mix-up became the running joke of the afternoon. We ended with the Seared Pork Cheeks and Braised Tongue served with fuyu persimmons—rich, tender, and beautifully presented. By then, the wine from earlier in the day and the easy laughter around the table made everything taste even better. It wasn’t just a meal—it was one of those simple, perfect moments shared with longtime friends, surrounded by good food, good stories, and that unmistakable Napa charm. I’ll always remember that afternoon at ZuZu not just for the delicious tapas, but for the warmth of friendship that made it truly special.
Fabulous! Come for the gin, stay for the paella. Over 60 gins to order and a few bourbons/rums/mezcal. Broad and descriptive gin and tonic menu. Christian, the bartender, was so friendly and helpful. Offers a wide array of small plates and fish. There is indoor, patio and bar seating. Everything smelled so good! We ordered the paella which was amazing. Definitely will return.
Zuzu really blew us away. We never thought we’d get this level of tapas despite all the good reviews. The food was astonishing, served one after another, perfectly spaced. We got excellent recommendations from the very friendly and hospitable staff. They really nailed our evening in Napa. We would go here very happily again. Thanks for the experience!
An absolute MUST go location if in the area. My wife and I stumbled across this gem of a place upon arriving to Napa, taking an after nap from all the travel, and then realizing that the entire town practically shuts down at 9:00pm. Zuzu was one of the few places that remained open after that point, so we took a chance on them. On our first night, we were out for new experiences. Even with the dance club blaring music not a block from the store, once you sat down inside, you could still comfortably converse with others at your table. My wife wanted to have something light to start not alcoholic and so the server recommended the Lime in the Cocunut for her and for me, I had never trued a Gin-Tonic before but since it was featured prominently, i decided to ask. When i told him what i liked, he recommended a Japanese gin featuring fruity notes Ume and Yuzu citrus alongside the Juniper and Shisou flavors and paired with an Elderflower infused tonic. It was incredibly refreshing and enjoyable to sip, and was large enough to enjoy together with the food throughout the meal. For the meal, we ordered the Akaushi (a favorite that we ordered everytime. Use the bread to maximize the use of the chimichurri oil as a delicious extension of the appetizer), the Zuzu Paella (Delicious chicken, sausage, and clam Paella with a creamy texture that goes down easy). At this point, we had been wowed with flavors, so wanted to try a wine to pair along with some of desserts to sate her sweet tooth. The "Del Puerto" Fino was recommended, and we selected the Tres Leches cake (honestly, the best tasting one I've ever had. Creme was light, flavorful, not overly sweet, and tasted of whole milk, not oil while the cake was gently moist) as well as the Flan (my wife was initially disappointed when the 'pudding' she was expecting turned out to be the hard-variety one, but bery quickly changed her opinion after the first bite. This creamy consistency and subtle hints of cheese-cake like flsvors while still being flan made her fall in love with the dish, particularly whwn with the wine she ordered). The experience was so good that Zuzu became the bar of excellance that we compared every other establishment in Napa against. "This is good, but the cost-benefit to quality and quantity can't compare to Zuzu" or "The server was nice, but their recommendations and knowledge of their own menu and pairings couldn't compare to Zuzu" were frequent conversation topics we had while touring around the area. Given that servers informed us that the establishment has been around for more than 20 years, I'm honestly surprised that the place still had an almost hidden, locals-secret vibe, while still being so incredibly welcoming towards tourist such as ourselves. In the end, we ended up enjoying it so much that we ended up returning to the restaurant on 3 seperate occasions. The 2nd trip, we enjoyed Arròs Negra seafood Paella as our main dish, along with the Gambas al Ajillo (Garlic, buttery shrimp... don't waste the sauce! Dip your bread in it for an extra Appetizer treat!), Akaushi, and my wife discovered just how much she absolutely enjoys the almost cheesy, smooth taste of Basque-style Cider from the bottle of Astarbe that we ordered to pair with the seafood in the meal (incredible value for the volume provided for both of us to enjoy), and since the meal was larger, we had only a single dessert this time (that Tres Leches really was too good to pass up) along with a server recommended Carajillo (Espresso based cocktail) that set yet another new standard for enjoying the dish. And on that 3rd time (revisited the classic Paella, along with the pork-cheek, halibut, and our go-to Akaushi... no surprise, everything still tasted amazing), the waiter and waitress who helped us from the previous nights immediately recognized us and made a point to stop by, chat, and make some additional recommendations for the expanded nenu being offered that night. I cant wait to go back the next time i visit the area to see what new flavors and pairings are being offered.
ARRIVED HUNGRY BUT LEFT HAPPY I arrived at Zuzu Napa Valley within the last 30 minutes before closing, and although the staff seemed hesitant about my order, the owner personally stepped in and said he’d make it happen! The gambas al ajillo arrived soupy. To be honest, I was confused a little bit because I was expecting the simple olive oil Spanish version (they claimed to serve authentic Spanish dishes). But!! Flavor-wise, it was phenomenal! Rich, complex, garlicky, and perfectly balanced with just the right kick. I couldn’t complain about the taste at all, though I do think the dish deserves a different name so it’s not misleading, this was clearly their own twist, maybe with a splash of broth at the end. Nevertheless, it has this deep satisfying savory flavor! The down side though was that it was served with heads on. Unexpected and inconvenient but still delicious! Who cares about convenience when it’s too tasty! Also got the heirloom tomato salad with pickled red onions, mascarpone, and basil lemon vinaigrette. It was bursting with freshness! I love how juicy and sweet the tomatoes are. The creamy, slightly tangy mascarpone that melted on the palate was to die for! I also tried the paella and croquetas. I got the croquetas because I had made them at home once but never again since I didn’t have a reference for how they should taste. Texture-wise, they were creamy inside with a crisp exterior, though flavor-wise, they were just okay. The paella was ok. Not a fan of paella anyway. Did I say the experience just kept getting better? Their wine expert recommended a bottle and I loved it so much I visited the winery the next morning! Thoughtful service, phenomenal food, and expert wine guidance made this one of the most memorable meals I’ve had. Too bad I haven’t taken a lot of photos because I was still recovering from jet lag and just wanted to dive straight into the amazing foods California has to offer. Zuzu was a great start!
Zuzu Napa Valley – Tapas Worth Traveling For!!!! On our recent visit to Napa Valley, we decided to try Zuzu, a Spanish tapas restaurant that’s been part of downtown Napa since 2002. After dining here, it’s easy to see why they’ve stood the test of time — everything was outstanding. We started with the peach salad topped with manchego and arugula, perfectly balanced and refreshing. The tomato salad was bursting with freshness and flavor, a true taste of the season. The vermicelli with mushrooms was rich, earthy, and comforting, while the anchovies were simply out of this world — hands down some of the best we’ve ever had. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, the staff attentive and friendly, and to top it off, the restaurant is pet-friendly — something we really appreciate when traveling with our pup. If you find yourself in Napa and aren’t sure where to dine, you cannot go wrong with Zuzu. A long-standing favorite for a reason, it’s a place we’ll happily return to again and again.
Everything about our dinner at Zuzu was delightful. Service was attentive, informative, and friendly. Each dish was excellent. The heirloom tomato salad was particularly delicious. The ceviche of the day was excellent. The lamb tartare was wonderfully seasoned. The drinks were creative. What a delightful restaurant!
ZuZu in Napa Valley is a total delight! This Spanish-inspired spot on Main Street has a warm, inviting vibe with a charming patio perfect for soaking in the Napa breeze. The steak chimichurri was incredible—tender, juicy, and slathered in a vibrant, herbaceous sauce that popped with flavor. The cod was made delicious. The mushroom salad was a fresh, earthy mix with bright, seasonal ingredients that tied it all together. Every dish was bursting with bold, authentic flavors!
Zuzu absolutely blew me away! From the very first bite to the final spoonful of dessert, every dish was bursting with bold, authentic Spanish flavors. The shrimp tapas was sizzling and rich, the almond-crusted fish was cooked to perfection, and that dreamy banana tres leches? Simply divine. What made the evening even more special was the impeccable service — the staff was incredibly warm, attentive, and impressively quick despite the busy dinner rush. The ambiance felt cozy yet vibrant, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed yet elevated dining experience. If you’re in Napa and craving something extraordinary, Zuzu is a must-visit. Easily one of the best Spanish meals I’ve had in California!
Phenomenal food in ambience. Spectacular service. The fact that owner has been there for so long is out of this world. What a gift.

We did not have a reservation and only had to wait for a few minutes. Delicious food, good portion size and helpful staff.
Every time a bell rings, the dinner bell that is, think of ZuZu. Have a glass of Sangria, an order of mussels, followed by flat iron steak, both served in a cast iron skillet- scrumptious! All t…
Good food, good service and good ambiance. What more can I say? We ordered about six dishes, two desserts and corked a bottle of wine (corkage is $20 for first bottle and $10 more per bottle for every additional bottle). Total after tax was just a little under $150 which isn’t bad for some good quality food. Parking can be challenging in downtown but there are lots of parking lots. Just make sure you give yourself extra time to park and walk over (area in front of restaurant is blocked off for outdoor dining). Would definitely come back again!
The place is good. The black rice paella was not enough for two people, which was confusing. For $52, it should be a dish meant to be shared by two.
Besides being a little pricey, this place is superb. Great service, besides the initial ask for bread, the bread never stopped coming. Flat iron steak - delicious, but a little too much vinegar. very tiny portion even for tapas standard. Garlic shrimp - shrimp was not bad, but the best part to this dish was the sauce, and the restaurant knows. Bread was also served with this dish, make sure to dip them in the sauce! Paella - a little disappointed that there are not much seafood in it but it's still decent. Slightly on the salty side, but the pot sticker part was amazing. Lamb chop - good but nothing special.
Zuzu was our goal for getting paella! We ordered the skirt steak which was out of this world amazing! We also got shrimp and the juices and sauces were the best thing I’ve had at any restaurant in a long time! We used bread to dip into the sauce. The paella we chose was the seafood with black rice. It was lack lustre but the seafood was cooked well. We took the shrimp sauce and poured it on the paella to give flavor. The service was awful, because the server was so quiet…the only thing he said to us right when we got in was “the paella takes 30 minutes” and he said he doesn’t drink which is fine, but recommend something or upsell us on something we would like. He wasn’t the Napa service we expected as we enjoy talking to people and getting recommendations from people here! Highly recommend making a reservation!
come here right when they open for lunch to get a table w/o reservation. great food. small portions for what you pay but it’s napa prices… the meat paella was good (bc of the rice) but kind of weird they add some kind of aoli on top and 3 random clams - one of which was very sandy. i would want to try the seafood black ink paella instead bc it sounds better. the olives were good. same for the sardines toast (but could use more flavors). the tomato salad was the best.
Thursday evening Oct 3. We walked in with no reservation and got a table. Nice atmosphere and friendly server. Menu of gin cocktails special promotion, we had no idea, so we had the server sell us the g and t of the month which was very refreshing during this heat wave. Gazpacho and snapper ceviche were the highlights. Highly recommend. The croquetas del dia ( chicken) were good but a bit pasty inside. The grilled lamb chops special was teeny for $26 and an overcooked disappointment. Pushed the limit even for tony Napa. Small and lively and outdoor seating.
Zuzu is a Spanish tapas style restaurant that has both indoor and outdoor seating. If the weather is nice, outdoor seating is definitely recommended. It is a tapas restaurant, so the food portion is a bit on the small size. If you have a larger group, please expect to have two orders of the same dishes to allow each people to have a small bit. The food quality is decent, especially the fishes and the different styles of paella. You are looking at around 40 per person here without alcohol for lunch, about 15% higher for dinner.
The outdoor seating is nice. You do want to make reservation in advance here. We happen to be there on a Friday night where they have the city live music right infront of our table. Great customer service. It’s a bit pricey for tapas platter here. Don’t come here if you are on the extreme hungry side. We ended up with second dinner after our visit here. Great customer service. The food was good. I love the anchovies on the toast( must try). I wish they could have served us better arugula instead of these wilted ones. Grilled Lamb is excellent here. Sauté veggies with flavorful seasoning. I would have given them a 4* if it wasn’t for the wilted arugula.
Terrific late night bite. We were a table of 4 and Loved all of the dishes. \nPear Salad loved the flavors and dressing \nPaella for 2-we got the seafood with black rice and this dish will have me …
Place has a nice, buzzy atmosphere. We ordered a couple of tapas (two people at dinner) and a paella with seafood. Everything was very tasty. Highly recommend if you like Spanish food.

Fried food, scallops in a bowl of mayonnaise and olives out of a jar is not what I expected. The menu seemed interesting and as it turned out was much more interesting than the actual food
Perfect! Nice outdoor seating with yummy tapas. Prices were fine - most in that $10-$20 range. Share 3 or 4 and you have a meal! We loved the the frittata and papas bravas.
The service was excellent and the flavors are decent but the freshness of the seafood is really what brings it down for me. We sat down outside and there’s proper social distancing. The waitress was friendly and efficient. We ordered a few of the tapas but the ones that needed work Gambas: we ordered four shrimp for four of us but they only gave us three. The shrimp was not fresh and had a really fishy taste to it. Paella: the paella was very undercooked while the lobster was severely over cooked and chewy. For $38 a portion, that was truly not worth it. All in all, ok flavors but not fresh seafood and not great price/quality ratio.
Zuzu delivered a mixed three-star experience. I found the small plates to be competently executed and perfectly adequate, but they ultimately lacked the complexity or memorable spark to be truly great tapas. Service was only passable for me; unfortunately, they brought my order out wrong, which definitely interrupted the flow of the meal. The experience was thankfully redeemed by the thoughtfully curated wine list. This selection shows excellent breadth and depth, focusing on Spanish wines that provide ideal complementary pairings to the cuisine. While the vinous offerings are a highlight, the overall dining experience keeps Zuzu firmly in the average category.
steak is good! And service is good too. but all the price is almost 75% higher than the data on yelp

Over priced food. The fish was flavorless and the almonds and hazelnut just didn't compliment the fish at all. Also did not come with any carbs or veggies. The garlic soup was very watery and the flavors were very average much like putting a Costco chorizo in hot water. I also got a glass of alberiño and it was not good either. So this for nearly $70. I had to go to taco bell afterwards because I was too hungry.
We recently dined at this restaurant and unfortunately were quite disappointed with our experience. First of all, the restaurant was almost empty with many available tables, yet we were not allowed to sit at a four-person table that we preferred simply because we were a party of two. Even when we left, there were still plenty of empty tables, so that was frustrating. The service was also not very welcoming. Our server didn’t seem very attentive or friendly — there wasn’t much patience, and not even a smile. We came hoping to enjoy a pleasant evening, but the overall atmosphere didn’t feel warm or inviting. As for the food, the portion sizes were surprisingly small. We ordered paella for two, but it honestly felt like a very small single serving. We also ordered the daily special (octopus), which tasted good, but the portion was more like an appetizer. Unfortunately, we didn’t enjoy the paella itself. Overall, the experience did not meet our expectations.
Last time I had lunch here zuzu, I like the foods. It tastes good. And the service was good. Then today I came again. The foods still taste good, but the service was very poor. We had four people sit down for 5mins, then ask us “ are you ready for order?” No smile, no ask for drink. There is not busy. Only one table has customers. Ok, fine I am not expect full service. But….. when there are three white people came in, and my husband go to restroom before they come. The waiter just push the chair very rude and hit my leg. First my husband still came back. Second, if the chair is blocking the way, you can push it a little bit. Also, I don’t think the chair is blocked the way because we didn’t move the chair to the middle of the way. I so curious we got this service because we are Asia?

Attitude of hostess was rude. We waited ten minutes before anyone approached our party for table information.
This restaurant provided an explicitly racist and deeply unsettling experience. The discriminatory treatment began almost immediately after we placed our order when a server, who wasn't even assign…
The person that manages the tables and sometimes stands at the front to welcome guests is racist. This guy basically tried everything he can to put us at the worst table possible and came up with nonexistent reasons like oh these other tables are “requested” even though in the next 2 hours those tables continued to be empty. When asked about this again, he simply dismissed it and said he just doesn’t want to let people like us sit there. Like what? We were better dressed than most people there and ordered more things for our party size. Our server is super sweet but unfortunately the experience is very negative. Food is also mediocre and overpriced at best. Pork cheek is using pork belly. Paella and mussels were bland. Don’t get the hype at this place. They basically don’t give a crap about customer experience or food quality since they sit at this popular touristy area.
Worst Experience in Napa — Rude, Discriminatory, and Illegal. If You’re Asian or Have a Service Dog, Beware! I’ve never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant in Napa. When we arrived, the dining room was half empty, yet the greeter left us standing for nearly 10 minutes before even speaking to us. His first words? “You can only sit outside.” It was a chilly October night, the patio was completely empty with no heaters, but he didn’t care. When I said we had a reservation, he acted surprised and asked for my friend’s name. She’s an Asian woman with an English name — and the way he smirked when she said it made it clear he thought her name was some kind of joke. That moment set the tone. After making us wait again, he returned and said we could only sit outside because of our dog. We explained she is a certified hearing aid service dog, but he flat-out claimed their restaurant doesn’t allow any animals. The greeter’s colleague came and corrected his statement. When we showed proof, he rolled his eyes, refused to look at it, and barked at us that “the dog must stay under the table,” something we obviously already know. As we finally walked inside, he muttered profanity and sneered, “There’s no way that dog is a service dog.” I heard it clearly. The sting was worse when I saw him immediately turn around and warmly welcome the next white couple with a smile. This wasn’t just bad service — it was blatant disrespect, discrimination, and a complete disregard for service dog laws. No one should be treated this way, and it broke what could have been a special Napa evening.
The food was good. Only on the menu it says that the paella will be for two people. And it's not true. The price is super expensive to see 3 Clams on the Plate
The most racist and anti–service dog restaurant I have ever personally experienced. The restaurant first tried to seat us outside in the cold solely because we had a service dog. Later, the manager (white man in a blue shirt) came up to my friend and said, “Your dog should not have his paws off the ground. That’s not what a service dog does. A service dog does not do that,” even though this is a small service dog and the “paws off the ground” he was referring to was simply the dog briefly resting his paws on my friend’s lower leg for a few seconds. The dog was completely well-behaved and 100% quiet the entire time; the only moment of interaction was briefly saying hi to the people next to us with their full consent. All the staff then refused to provide even a paper cup or bowl of water for the dog. Under the manager’s direction, they also refused to serve me tap water because they somehow assumed I would give it to the dog. The manager also accused my friend of putting water in her hand to feed the dog and said that was not allowed. The owner refused to speak with us. Throughout all this, the manager kept insisting that the dog “should be working” and that he “wasn’t acting like a service dog.” Even after we explained to him that this is a psychiatric service dog who provides emotional comfort rather than performing physical tasks, the manager refused to apologize. Based on how we were treated, and after reading other Google reviews describing similar concerns, I left with the strong impression that there may be a pattern of hostility toward people of color and toward service-dog owners. I also noticed that all the Asian guests (including us) were seated in the same corner of the restaurant (around five or six tables). Combined with our experience, this gave me the impression of racially biased treatment, though I ofc can’t speak to/know anyone’s true intentions. Great atmosphere but the worst service/experience ever! I work in Food & Beverage as a server and my husband (that was with me) as a bartender. The first person that approached us at the bar was nice and welcoming but unfortunately the person that took care of us for the rest of the night was not! The attitude was right away so bad, super annoyed as soon as we ordered. The food we got was ok, nothing great but not bad. The main issue was that we ordered a wine pointing to the menu that was from 2017 and when they showed us the bottle we noticed it was from 2019, not addressed from them and when we told him he just replied “oh well, was it 2017 in the menu?!”, nothing else. We then asked for the wine to be decanted (not only cause it was from 2019 but cause after reading the label it explicitly says on the back to do so) he just thrown the whole bottle in the decanter, throwing the sediment as well as he had no clew on how to do that! But the best came at the end! When we got the check the wine was 20$ more expensive than expected and when we pointed that out he just asked.. “well did you point at it when ordering or you asked for the bottle?!” This is a big SCAM!! Never experienced anything like this!! So many other great options around!! Just pick something better!! N.B. On the menu wine was 2017, on the bottle 2019 on the check 2018!! Unfortunately the vintage of a wine makes a great difference, especially for the old world wines… and different vintages expect different prices… or at least inform your guests about it.
