Best steak in the city! Great date spot!
Delicious dry aged Meat, incredible flavor. Huge portions, warm atmosphere, the perfect spot. Oh and the Octopus…wow Its a weekly staple.
Great vibe in there. The server Chris is a pro’s pro and does an excellent job.
Somehow we’d lived in the neighborhood for years without knowing about this place. Really great food and service, nice romantic atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!
Amazing food, amazing service from Chris. All around amazing date at this restaurant. Gorgeous restaurant and fantastic knowledgeable staff.
So delicious!!! Great food and service. I always pass this restaurant in my neighborhood but had never been in. Will definitely be back!
Ordered medium rare - got medium rare with a fantastic sear! Awesome steak, perfectly grilled!
Great ambience, service and food. Definitely go check them out, you won't be disappointed.
Went for brunch and the food and service were excellent will go back again for the dinner menu.
Very tentive staff! One of the most delicious pork chops I've ever had! Amazing establishment!
We had Chris as our server. Incredible food, great atmosphere, and the absolute best service. We’d recommend this place and Chris to anybody. Try the bacon!
Decided to have the Branzino instead of Steak tonight and I was very impressed! Started with the Tuna Tartare and the Garlic Mash accompanied my fish. All excellent choices! To top it off they have great TVs at the bar and the Knicks are destroying the Celtics in a game 6 clincher!
We had a group of 7. Our server, Richard, was awesome. The food was fantastic. There was no appetizer, main dish, or side dish that left us unsatisfied. Portions for the price were great. I got the Ribeye with the bordelaise sauce that was incredible. Worth the stop for a great meal for a special occasion.
Had the halibut with beet risotto which I had no intention of eating, but it was delicious. Husband had steak with fries and cooked to perfection. Amazing ambiance, live music and great service. Highly recommended👍
I have to say that i was recommended by a friend that this restaurant used to be The Parlor and now it is Catch & chop and the food was great. Crunchy fresh salad and Pork Chop was juicy and delicious. All sides were great including Broccolini, Mashed Potatoes and these crispy onion rings. We sat in a high 4 top by the bar and the place had great energy and drinks were also good, I totally recommend this place and i will be back with some other friends.
Fantastic place. Very happy to have this on the upper east side. I’ve eaten here a few times and here are the thoughts on specific food items: Tuna tartar - amazing Steak tartar- amazing Octopus - top 5 I’ve ever had Lobster bisque - would not recommend Wedge salad - I don’t eat salad and I I loved this Cesar salad - above average Caesar but the wedge is better Steak - very very good. And good price for this high quality. I’ve had the ribeye and strip, both are awesome but I prefer the ribeye. Gotta try the porterhouse for 2. I’ve had a few sides and no complaints. Def like the broccolini. Drinks are on point. The martinis here are better than most places. Staff - high quality I have NOT tried a lot of their fish so I need to try that and chime back in. All in all - such a great spot and I love the location since I live nearby.
My first time and definitely not my last. From beginning to end the service was amazing. The food all so delicious and full of flavor. I definitely recommend everyone come by and see for themselves. They even had live music!
Although I love the atmosphere I left my ⚽ antique 2010 world cup soccerball here....this ball was given 2 me by the legendary Ronaldinho I returned the following day requesting it & they pretended to not know what I was talking about... This soccer ball was autographed & had sentimental value that being said it's a nice venue. You owe me a soccer of the same value
Dinner was perfect! The branzino and the burrata salad are a menu favorite. Can't go wrong with the ribeye either. Friendly, Attentive staff and ownership! Catch and Chop should be on your list when on the upper east side!
Had dinner the other night It was fabulous , I had fish, and the wedge salad ( BEYOND ) . My date had the filet which was incredible . The service was wonderful, the ambience beautiful AND the noise level? Perfection!! It was a perfect night . Great good , inviting atmosphere and I will definitely be back!!!
Why is this only 4.5? The food is reqlly great as well as everything else!
We stopped in here spontaneously for a quick bite, and the food was really good! Fillet mignon with yummy peppercorn sauce, mashed potatoes, and perfectly cooked asparagus. Attentive service. We will be back to try some of the other items on the menu that looked great.
We have been waiting for months for this steakhouse to open and we are so happy it did. This is exactly what the Upper East Side needed. The filet mignon and ribeye were both so flavorful and cooked perfectly, all of the sides were great - we didn’t know which one we would remove if we had to (between the creamed spinach, garlic mashed potatoes, & crispy onions), and the chopped salad is a must! If you’re more into fish, the halibut was delicious too. Lastly, the prices for what you get are so reasonable. Can’t wait to go back again and again and again!
Awesome place. Really like my experience 👍🏻. Even when they lost power . I give this place 5 stats 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing place for a date or even just a special event with love ones . Amazing food with large portions
New spot in Upper East. The Tuna Tartare and Octopus were amazing. For dinner I had the Halibut and Filet with Creamed Spinach and Charred Broccolini Everything surpassed my expectations. Also the wine list! Definitely go here.
Catch & Chop has hit the ground running. The food and service are a vast improvement over the previous "steakhouse" at that location. Also, unlike the previous steakhouse, an owner - sorry I forgot his name - was working the floor, introducing himself, asking how the food was. I ordered the filet mignon - never had a better steak and I've had them all over the country. Hoping Catch & Chop is here to stay. TF
The food was amazing and the service was top notch also. It was a cozy atmosphere and they have live jazz music on Thursday nights from 7-10 which was a plus!
First off great scene and amazing pricing for what you are getting I had the yellow tail tuna tartar. This place is definitely going to get popular with the crowd they’re attracting.
We tried the small catch, charred octopus, jumbo asparagus, and the lava cake. The charred octopus was absolutely amazing. The paste it sits in goes with everything we had. It is a tomato base and includes capers and small white beans. The oysters and crab meat were very fresh. The asparagus could have been cooked an extra two minutes and needed salt but it was okay. The lava cake comes with Oreo ice cream. The ice cream isn’t too sweet and has good flakes. The lava cake was rich and a perfect ending to our meal. They don’t participate in restaurant week despite being on the list but the variety of meals we tried left us satisfied as we created our own sample menu and paid about the same. For two our bill with tax and tip was a little over $200 including one drink for us both.
Tonight I dined at Catch N Chop, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for the evening. The star of the night was, without a doubt, our server John . The service was impeccable—attentive without being overbearing. Our server was knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations, ensuring we had everything we needed for a flawless meal. Now to the food . Appetizer was a burrata with fresh watermelon . DELICIOUS.The steak was cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor as I had asked them to cook my steak medium . My husband had the ribeye and I enjoyed the fillet mignon. The sides we chose were creamy spinach (made with a touch of feta ) ,the macaroni and cheese perfectly that was executed I couldn’t stop eating , mushrooms and fries. All dishes made with perfection . This restaurant exceeded all expectations, from the food to the atmosphere. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for an incredible dining experience, this is the place to go. I can't wait to return so my husband can try their crab cakes .
Really cannot recommend this place enough. I came here last night for a birthday with a few friends and everything was truly fantastic. Our server Sarah was incredibly kind and personable, we asked her opinion on just about everything and she never lead us astray and really helped us all enjoy the night even more. The yellow fin tartare, the lobster pasta, and their holiday only lamb shank were just truly incredible, but the star honestly were those pretzel breadsticks. The floor manager was also incredibly kind and chatted with us towards the end of our meal. Very excited to come back.
The food, service and general atmosphere of the restaurant was great. We went as a treat before leaving the City and were not disappointed. I would 100% recommend it to my friends.
The experience was truly magnificent. My 16 year old son and I came from Arizona for a basketball tournament and to See family I haven’t seen since I left 20 years ago. My cousin recommended Catch and Chop. We went to the downstairs dining area, where We met Chris. He was the ultimate host. All the food was delicious and the steaks were perfect. After the meal, my son fell in love with New York and didn’t wanna leave…
We pass by this restaurant often and finally went for dinner on our anniversary, on a night they had live jazz. We had a great meal in a beautiful restaurant, with soft music, and a stellar wait staff. The food was surprisingly creative, with a special of seared scallops over wild mushroom risotto with shaved truffles- fabulous. Even though our server was great, JoAnna stopped by our table to make sure we had a special evening. We will be going back.
This place is very chic, loved the decor and atmosphere. I was craving lobster Mac and cheese, so I tried there’s and it has to be one of the best I’ve had. I will definitely be coming back
Catch n’ Chop blew me away. The space has this sleek, modern-luxury vibe that instantly makes you feel like you’re somewhere special—but without any of the pretentiousness. The food is incredibly fresh and thoughtfully prepared. What I loved most is that they really let the flavor shine—nothing is overdone, just clean, bold, balanced bites. And that dill dressing? I’d put it on everything. Easily one of my new favorite spots.
We celebrated my husband’s 80th birthday here. The food was amazing and the service was flawless! Big shout out to CHRIS and manager Joann. Everyone was so helpful in making this a memorable celebration. We’re lucky to have you on the UES and only three blocks aways. Thanks again! Elaine G.
Seriously, the food is excellent. If you catch a faint hint of something smoky, you are picking up the scent of the toasted rosemary branch on your neighbor’s steak. If you ever liked a wedge salad, you will love this one. Tuna tartare? Yes, please. Always, you need the crispy onions no matter what you ordered. No need to venture out of the neighborhood, they have lined up live jazz/y music a few nights a week. The red ropes outside and smiles inside let you know you are somewhere special.
Really great place. One of the best pork chops I have eaten in a long time.
Catch & Chop is really impressive. I’ve been to most of the “big name” NYC steakhouses and honestly this place is better than pretty much all of them. The service is lovely and engaging (sometimes it can be cold or rushed at the midtown places). The menu is classic NYC steakhouse and done incredibly well. The Porterhouse was cooked perfectly with a great crust, and the sides were all fantastic. Highly recommend for a classic NYC steakhouse experience done by people who truly care about getting it right.
I loved the food — every single dish was delicious! The chicken, Caesar salad, steak, mac & cheese, and the French fries — everything was amazing. Even the pretzel bread they served at the beginning was so good!
Catch & Chop wins the award for best service on the UES! Every time we go there, we are amazed at the level of customer service from the hostess, servers and bartenders. They make you feel like family and take great care and attention to detail. The brunch is always top notch and the wines and cocktails are delicious! An excellent addition to the UES restaurant scene.
Celebrated our anniversary here, and wow, the filet mignon melted in my mouth. Perfectly charred, juicy, and paired with unreal truffle fries. A bit splurge-worthy, but the romantic ambiance and attentive staff made it unforgettable. 100/10 - recommended!
This restaurant was beyond fantastic and went above and beyond our expectations. Diarmuid, our waiter, was attentive and accommodating even going as far as running to the store next door to get a missing ingredient. Our drinks were well balanced and tasty. I had the best lobster bisque I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting. The mushroom risotto with scallops was beyond compare. My cousin’s filet mignon was melt in your mouth. The deserts, the lava cake, was beautiful. The raspberry puree was also lovely. Honestly, I have only positive things to say. The atmosphere was fancy but relaxed including since we arrived shortly after opening. I highly, highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone in the area! This will be a restaurant my cousin and I will return to!
Again another place my wife and I frequently go to. The bar staff is excellent and very friendly. I have had the burger a few times and it's really good. We have also liked their wedge salad.
I've been to all the major steakhouses (Peter lugars, Wolfgang’s, etc… ) and this place served used a perfectly cooked porterhouse for two. The steak quality was outstanding and every bite melted in my mouth. The cream of spinach and truffle fries were also great. We will definitely be back. The peppercorn sauce was amazing.
We (seven guests) dined here for my boyfriend’s birthday tonight, and it was a wonderful and delicious experience. We made a last minute reservation, and both hostesses (I wish I had caught their names!) were very warm, helpful, and accommodating. As we entered, I discreetly mentioned to one hostess that it was his birthday, and she said she would take care of it. They surprised us with a bottle of champagne at the table! Unfortunately, my partner doesn’t drink, so they quickly brought him a mocktail. They also brought out the most INCREDIBLE coconut sorbet with a candle at the end of the meal. Would come back for the sorbet alone! My boyfriend had the ribeye and octopus, and I had a few oysters and the halibut. Everything was a highlight- the puree that perfectly complemented the tender octopus, the savory roasted garlic served with every well-seasoned steak, the colorful beet risotto that elevated the flavor of the halibut, and more. Other members of our party also thoroughly enjoyed the branzino and the roasted chicken. The restaurant has an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere, with tailored, stylish decor. Our server Sonya was attentive, knowledgeable, and professional. My halibut was overcooked, and when I mentioned this to her, she replaced it with a new one and had it removed from the bill as well. I also enjoyed her wine recommendation. The standard of service is excellent here- from the second we arrived until the moment we left. Looking forward to the next time I get the chance to dine here.
This restaurant delivers unreasonably perfect food. The chef mixes flavors in surprising ways. The atmosphere is tidy and endearing. Restaurant workers maintain absolutely flawless service. I appreciate the outstanding support provided.
Perfectly-cooked dry-aged prime NY strip, one of the best wedge salads I've ever eaten with thick-cut bacon, and live jazz on a Tuesday night. Seasonings for the steak, wild mushrooms & salad were on point.
A Refined Culinary Experience at Catch n’ Chop Catch n’ Chop offers an elegant and elevated dining experience that truly sets it apart. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the sophisticated atmosphere, impeccable service, and attention to detail throughout. Every dish was thoughtfully crafted and beautifully presented. The pasta was rich and flavorful, the steaks were expertly prepared, and the cocktails were nothing short of exquisite. Each element of the meal reflected a commitment to quality and creativity. A special thank you to Emir, the owner, whose gracious hospitality made the evening unforgettable. His presence and genuine care for guests elevate the experience even further. It’s clear that Catch n’ Chop is more than just a restaurant—it’s a reflection of Amir’s vision and passion for excellence. If you’re seeking a refined and memorable evening in New York, Catch n’ Chop is an exceptional choice.
I am writing to express our sincere appreciation for the truly phenomenal dining experience we recently enjoyed at your restaurant. From the moment we arrived until our departure, the service was impeccable, and the quality of the food was, without a doubt, the best we have ever had. We were particularly impressed by Joanna Pope, the floor manager, our server, Christopher Barber, and Chef Jose Perez. Their attention to detail truly made every aspect of our visit outstanding. If it were possible, we would gladly give six stars! Our experience truly went above and beyond what we anticipated – it was like turning things "up to eleven." Beyond the exceptional food, the suggested alcoholic beverages, both from the menu and off-menu, were also superb. We wholeheartedly recommend your restaurant to anyone seeking the absolute best in service and dining.
Sat at bar . Amazing meal last night. Lobster cocktail so fresh. Scallops amazing. Filet oscar. so good. Diarmuid behind bar was awesome - D thank you.
Great place! Food was perfect, staff is friendly and attentive (what you hope and expect) ordered fillet mignon with side of mushrooms and I loved it had a Cabernet with it. I was in a great place. Partner ordered NYStrip with lobster and he devoured it. We will definitely come again. We made a reservation but came an hour earlier and they were able to accommodate us quickly. Saw several families with kids. Dim environment. Romantic. Feels luxurious. Will be back!
My husband and I celebrated our birthdays recently at the restaurant. Every dish we ordered was impeccable. The creamed spinach and crispy onion string sides were amazing! The steak and halibut with beet risotto were unbelievable too! Very attentive waiter and classy atmosphere.
We had an awesome chill evening in the city, hanging out at Catch n’ chop. Warm atmosphere, good vibes, and great company — exactly what you want after a long day. We grabbed lamb chop, and they hit perfectly. Just the right crunch — not overpowering, just balanced and addictive. Honestly, they paired perfectly with the relaxed mood and conversation. This place has that cozy, welcoming feel where you can just sit back, laugh, and enjoy simple moments. Just real, comfortable, and memorable. Definitely one of those small evenings that turn into great memories.
I recently discovered this establishment on the UES and it’s become one of my favorite spots on Friday nights! It was easy to make a reservation through Google maps, the table was ready right away, the staff is very courteous and accommodating. We came primarily for drinks 🍹 and were not disappointed: all three tequila cocktails were unique and delicious. Our server was also very knowledgeable about their origin and the making. The buratta salad is at the top of my salad list now! It’s like a meal by itself to my European standards and the concoction of tastes makes it truly unforgettable and wanting me to return there for just this one dish 🙃
Amazing steakhouse. Chris, our server was exceptional all around (especially with the wine service) Sb: they have some great house music (although I think some live saxophone or piano would match the vibe)
Stoked this is in the neighborhood!! Gorgeous restaurant and all of the dishes knocked our socks off. Chicken roasted perfectly and the seared Halibut and Salmon were both delicious. Loved sitting in the beautiful bar/patio area. Epic wine list and spirits list. And the BREAD. It’s pretzel bread! So so so good. Service was great. It’s our new go-to spot.
we loved the ambience of the place and the service was a 10/10 !! our server was really friendly and sweet and attended to every need. the hostess was really nice and welcoming. the food was also really amazing. we had the steak and pasta for entrees. the steak was cooked to my preference and juicy!! the lobster pasta was slightly spicy and really good. will definitely be back!!
I came here for a birthday celebration for my dad. We did not know what to expect since it had changed over from previous ownership at Parlour, which left a bad taste in our mouth at its end. However we were delighted to be treated to a wonderful dinner. Absolutely top notch service from our waiter, John, who checked in frequently and knew the menu inside and out. The food runners and bussers were on point refilling our water and cutlery. We always felt like someone was taking care of us. I was very pleased with the overall experience and would eat here again anytime. Thank you, John and the rest of the Catch & Chop staff for a wonderful evening!!!
I went here on a weekend evening for date night and had a great experience. They were able to easily accommodate a party of two with short notice. The vibe is dark lit and romantic, but we liked that they also have TVs at the bar area in case we want a more casual evening. My partner had the thick cut bacon, filet mignon, and lobster mac and cheese, and enjoyed all dishes. I am vegetarian and typically don’t have high hopes with a steak house, but the Caesar salad was delicious and the cauliflower steak was well seasoned. Everything was cooked as ordered, and the portions were large enough to take home leftovers. We especially appreciated the staff’s attention to detail. Our server, Richard, checked on us frequently. The head chef, Jose, also came to check on us and was very personable. If you are looking for a new restaurant in the area to try, I recommend this.
My new favorite brunch spot on the UES. Steakhouse omelette and Tuna Tartare are phenomenal. The hostess Joanna stopped by our table and talked with us about the menu but mostly just to get to know us, which is a rare experience in NYC. I cannot recommend this place enough!
So happy this space is back open! Beautifully renovated, amazing atmosphere and great ambience. Food was great! We had the halibut, rotisserie chicken, burrata and chopped salad. 10/10 Exactly what I expected from the owners of Sienna Cafe! Will be back!

Seriously this is the perfect dinner. We came here last min on valentin’s day because we didn’t like our reservations we had, when we entered they seated us right away for walk in. Matt was AMAZING host us well, great vibe, recommendation was great, interactive and engaging over all on his behalf. We had the ribeye, scallops, shrimps, mashed & spinach and listen it was to die for. The drinks were strong and cold, atmosphere was intimate but also beautiful. I usually don’t do reviews but this restaurant deserved it.
Catch n' Chop has excellent fish, meat and vegetables. Wines are good. Waiters know what they are doing and are helpful. The space is classy. Tables are decently spaced; you do not feel overcrowded. Prices are not cheap, but not out of line either. The bar is good, too.
We went for an early New Years Eve dinner and was immediately impressed with the beautiful decorations for the holiday. The staff was friendly and competent. The food was wonderful, the service was perfect and the overall atmosphere was festive. We loved the hats and other New Years Eve items at each table. This was our 2nd New Year’s celebration at this restaurant and we plan to make it our 3rd next year.

Everything was very good, the waiting team was very attentive! Maybe expecting a little more from the cocktails, but that's alright! Be back for sure!
Excellent steak. I am confident the other items on the menu will rise to the quality of the steaks.
Ate there tonight. Enjoyed it. Food was very tasty. Everything was great. Not complaining, but I think they need more help with the service. A little slow. I definitely would return. I just think our waiter was overwhelmed.
This place is just about what you'd expect from a steakhouse. Good service, decent atmosphere, decently portioned sides, and a nicely cooked steak with optional accompaniments. In my opinion, the sauces were too weak to really enhance the entree. However it came in a medium sized pot with a handle, making it easy to use and share. The only thing that stood out to me was the creamed spinach. Every bite was quite rich but wasn't too dense. Did I have a good time with my meal? Yes. Did the flavors blow my mind? No. Would I come back? Probably no. But I don't regret coming here.
I came here by myself tonight. I ordered a raspberry sidecar to start my dinner. The drink was very nice. Very balanced. It was smooth and beautiful. I ordered lobster bisque, a NY strip cooked medium rare, and a side of toasted wild mushrooms. The bread was quite nice. They gave me one nice looking one and a one that was kinda ugly. Turned out, the look did matter. The nice looking one was way softer than the ugly one. The lobster bisque was nice. Very pungent and thick. It also had a generous amount of lobster claws meat chunks. However, some of them were a bit overcooked and some were perfectly tender. The NY strip came out pretty well. The meat was pink and tender. Very flavorful. It came with roasted garlic. The garlic was smooth like mashed potatoes, and it was fragrant but not stinky. The side of roasted wild mushrooms was very nice, too. Usually, they can be a bit oily and greasy, but here, they were cooked to almost perfectly. Almost, because they were a bit bland, and they were a bit too dry. Overall, it was a nice restaurant with a good atmosphere. Even though, I still wish they could pick up the speed a bit. Between the time I finished my lobster bisque and my NY strip was served, I waited for 35 minutes. They can probably do that for the party of 2 or more, but for a person who was eating by himself, I’d like to just finish and leave.

Appetizers and sidea are overpriced but quantities of food are reasonable and sides large enough to share. Entree prices are more in line with typical Manhattan levels and beef dishes are very good. Service is a touch inconsistent -- when it's got, it's very good. Overall experience is good, although not quite at the level of a great classic steakhouse.

I’m posting 3 stars because although the steak was really good the extra $6 per steak sauce and $14 for fries added seemed ridiculous when the steak was already expensive by itself - other places you can choose what sauce and it comes with fries or salad - I think they would do better if they included this -
Decent new steak house. The menu is like a classic steak house but the service has more of a sports bar vibe. $70 steak with no table cloth 🙄 Server interrupted us several times asking if we were finished when we clearly still had food and our forks in our hands. Very weird service for a steak house on a Tuesday night when no one was waiting for my table. Probably not going back.
This place is okay but there are a few oddities about it. First, I just found it strange that the restaurant bills itself as a steak and seafood place but doesn't offer a surf n' turf dish. One would think that would be a cornerstone dish in a restaurant like this. I got the bone-in ribeye medium rare. The steak was well seasoned and cooked to the perfect temp, so credit the kitchen with that. However, the sides were very odd. I ordered mashed potatoes and creamed spinach, and the restaurant only serves no -dairy mashed potatoes that uses olive oil instead of butter. As a result, the mashed potatoes had the the consistency of glue paste. I don't know if the chef is trying to be health conscious, but let's face it - you don't go to a traditional steakhouse if you're counting calories. We also ordered creamed spinach, and what was really odd about that is that the spinach isn't chopped. They cook the spinach leaves whole which made the texture very stringy. I've never seen a cooked spinach dish - creamed or otherwise - use whole spinach leaves. It was strange. My wife got the sea bass, and she said it was underseasoned, and they don't have salt and pepper grinders on the table (in fact, no one came around offering freshly ground pepper, which is odd). The restaurant was also very poorly lit, which was annoying.
Painfully slow service. Sat down at the bar and there was literally no bartender in sight for over 15 minutes. A bus boy gave a menu and served water but it was almost 15 minutes before a bartender appeared. He then proceeded to serve a beer to people who were seated at the bar after me. Kept pouring the beer repeatedly in a glass to get rid of the suds from a fresh keg while I watched this saga patiently. Finally he came over and served me my drink. What a disaster. I ordered a steak which wasn’t too bad. But as other reviewers have mentioned the Keans or Peter Lugar price was not commensurate with the overall experience or ambiance. Several sports events played on multiple TV screens while two jazz musicians performed. Very weird. This place seemed to have an identity crisis in terms of whether they want to be a sports bar or a jazz lounge. The jazz musicians were actually decent and would be entertaining if the darn TV screens were shut off. I ordered a second drink. The bartender acknowledged my request but 10 minutes passed and I did not get my drink. He completely forgot to make my drink until I had to remind him again. Oh well. Will return just for the jazz. I hope the service will be better this time with a higher level of bartender service. And oh I hope the darn TVs are switched off especially in the midst of a jazz set.
Went here for Valentine’s Day yesterday. A little bit disappointed. My lobster bisque had plastic in it. Would’ve thought it would have been taken off of the bill, however it wasn’t. My Entree took 55mins to arrive to the table, thankfully the branzino was amazing!
Got a porterhouse for two. It was cooked perfectly.and seasoned well.. My problem was for a steak in NYC. i paid premium steakhouse prices(luger keanes etc.) but got under those quality. hoping for better.
Some of my family really likes it here, but our experience was middling. The bone in rib eye was good, as was the craned spinach, but the Mac and cheese was about 95% Mac and 5% cheese and quite dry. Our waiter was good, but the overall service was pretty poor. For a 5:00 reservation our food didn’t come out until after 7:00, and at least one of our group’s orders seemed forgotten. A number of folks came by to thank us for our patience, but didn’t apologize nor offer to comp anything. Also, their pie slices are comically small.

Food was ok but service was TERRIBLE. Unsure if it was a racial thing but had to speak to the hostess twice b/c the waiter continually paid more attention to other surrounding tables and delivery was SUPER slow
Very disappointing. I used to come here when it was Parlor and it always had a nice decent crowd, good food and ambiance. The music was not conducive to a dining experience when I arrived around 7pm. Then food took a while to arrive - oysters & shrimp were good. Branzino was overcooked to mush. So ordered another one which was marginally better but still a tad overcooked. Spinach & fries were okay. Nothing special. But then blaring music (so-called) came from a party downstairs. Completely dominating the whole restaurant. Unbelievable. Will not be back. Such a shame for this neighborhood!
I was really looking forward to trying Catch n’ Chop after moving to the neighborhood, but the experience fell short. My husband and I arrived around 6:45 PM and were seated at a small table that barely fit two plates. The warm bread and butter were great and gave us high hopes. We ordered oysters and charred octopus, but they took quite a while to arrive even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. The oysters were fine, but the octopus was chewy and overly salty. For mains, my husband’s Lobster Diavolo pasta was okay, but my Seared Halibut was so dry and tough that I had to send it back. The replacement — scallops with risotto — was much better, though still a bit salty. Service was slow and inattentive; no one checked on us during the meal, and we only learned about the specials when the waiter was describing them to the table next to us - by then, it was too late to order them. Overall, a few bright spots (like the bread and scallops), but the uneven food and service made the evening disappointing.
First, our waiter Christopher was amazing and really went the extra mile to help us. Second, the overall decor and ambience was very nice and the receptionist when we walked in was super nice and accommodating. Third ,, crabcakes were absolutely horrible, steak was lacking flavor and was average at best. Fourth , I would only go to this place to sit at the bar and order an appetizer because it has an amazing atmosphere, decor, plenty of TVs for sporting events. Finally, eating dinner here is not worth it. Hope this review will motivate management to step it up. If you want to charge Midtown prices on the upper east side, you better be perfect. I only recommend bar And appetizers

Pure mediocrity at an elevated price I was so hopeful that this restaurant would be great but it just misses on so many levels the steaks are ok but are neither seasoned well nor are as thick as sparks or Lugers for example and btw they are pricey ! The sauces were thin and sad and certainly and not worthy of $8. The sides were not great and lacked herbs and the creamed spinach curled…ugh There is either no pastry chef or they are pathetic. we waited almost 30 min to give a dinner order and then the appetizers were never cleared before the entrees arrived the wine list is over priced and lacks imagination. I am hoping that the place will get their act together since there are no great steak houses on the ues but management needs to be more active and present. When we were there no manager on the floor The only highlight was the bar staff who were pleasent and responsive while we waited for a table. At 125 or more per person catch and chop needs less sizzle and more beef
Took the server 10mins to come over to the table. It was the young bald guy serving on Jan 1st, 2025. Hitting multiple tables at least twice before coming over to barely greet me. Annnnd after he did there was no apology for the wait. Instead told a joke/comical story about the drink I ordered. I knew from there I had to leave. The buster had his own thing going on. But is it not allowed for them to at least help with water hitting the table?! As I was leaving it was my intention to let someone know that I wasn’t going to stay. Three staff members were in the front and didn’t even acknowledge that I was heading to the door to leave. It truly wasn’t meant for me to be there. I left and went to another steakhouse and before I could even sit all the way down in my seat, the waiter had come over to greet me and to ask for my water preference. It became the most enjoyable experience at smith & wollensky on the first of the new year. Catch & chop should do better. Definitely wont return. Customer service before food is everything.
Sad! Such a beautiful restaurant with no one at home in the kitchen. I ordered the $67 steak which came out raw. Sent back it came back tough as shoe leather. Waited 20 minutes for 5 1/2 oysters. "It takes time to shuck them," said the poor hostess. Good salad. Chris, a great waiter. No one is home! 😭😭😭
Great looking place ,cool vibe , nice decor but it’s basically a step above pub food. Hardly a Steak house however informal it’s described on google. Service is slow and non attentive at best. Steak was bland , sides were same and the bacon barely cooked even when sent back and asked for it well done came back out the same . Waiter was robotic no personality , not what you expect from a “steakhouse” waiter . Overall aside from a drink and maybe a quick app at bar this place really should do better or change the name . Sub par across the board minus the atmosphere.
