Absolutely fantastic! We went in for happy hour from 4pm-6pm to have some drinks and a small bite to eat. It was incredibly good!! Drinks were unique and made with high quality spirits, food was exquisite. Would gladly return for dinner to try out the rest of their menu.
Loved it here, stopped by for an early dinner for some Latin inspired tappas. The flavours are delicious we got the mushroom tacos (note there is a bit of spice in these) we also got the empanadas which was delicious aswell as a short rib type stew which was full of flavour. We got the sorbet for dessert which was super flavorful we mixed mango and raspberry which allowed for sweet and tangy with each bite
Review for Comodo Restaurant, Manhattan Comodo is a gem in Manhattan, and my recent visit was nothing short of exceptional. The lamb sliders were spectacular—juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The shrimp dish was out of this world, with a sauce so rich and delicious that I found myself savoring every drop. Luckily, it comes with a doughy bread that’s the perfect companion for dipping—an absolute must-try. The ribeye? Worth every penny. Cooked to perfection, it practically melts in your mouth, delivering a deep, savory richness that steak lovers will appreciate. The eggplant, while decent, didn’t quite stand out like the other dishes, but that’s a minor detail in an otherwise outstanding meal. To top it off, the service was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. If I could add one thing, it would be a piano man to elevate the ambiance to perfection. But even without it, Comodo is a must-visit for a top-tier dining experience in NYC.
Popped in for a last minute bite here and it was excellent. Lamb sliders were delicious. Rainbow carrots were tasty & prepared in a totally unique way that I enjoyed. And the taco kit with carnitas was excellent as well (although 6 tortillas would be better than 5 if it’s “for two”) also had a great glass of wine to top it off. I’m looking forward to coming back and doing a full dinner with friends here. I’m a fan of their sister restaurant in Brooklyn & Comodo didn’t let me down. I will be back.
Guess what? I just found out that Comodo’s has a HIDDEN dining room! We were taken there through the kitchen. What a great experience. And let me tell you, the dinner started with a bang! The sourdough bread with herb butter is a must-try! The salad with some kind of minty dressing was phenomenal. I love when restaurants make simple things taste amazing! All the dishes were super awesome, and the service was like, the best ever! Did I tell you, there was also a private martini bar just for our party?! Big shoutout to Alex, Etthian, and Ceasar for making our night unforgettable!
We had a wonderful time at Comodo. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and we were lucky to have Leo as our server. He made a huge difference by helping us make excellent menu choices. Highly recommend!
Excellent neighborhood food, a mix of Latin American ingredients and new American. The food has a great punch, a great mix of sour / fermented and spicy flavors you normally don’t see at these kinds of places.
Loved our meal and the whole ambiance! Our family shared the pork taco platter, guacamole, churro donuts and crème brûlée. Food was unique, carefully prepared with excellent flavor. High quality food. Love the vibe and decor. Very comfortable to enjoy your time. Hip but not uncomfortably trendy. Server was so sweet.
Best bone marrow in NYC! Really great service as well. Seems like a good place to come for drinks as well but we didn’t try any. Try: - bone marrow - fried chicken sandwich - churro with ice cream Skip: - mushroom tostada - was underwhelming compared to everything else and mushrooms were fridge cold Service 5/5 Food 4.5/5 (bone marrow is 10/5) Ambiance 5/5
Came here before a show to grab a drink. Ended up grabbing a few + a quick bite. The lamb sliders were mouth watering. The cocktails were perfectly balanced. The service provided by Kevin at the bar was excellent!
We came in to grab a quick bite fast while we waited for our FRIENDS Experience to begin. They were pleasant, quick and the food was super delicious! The pork belly is a must try super tender and flavorful. I was served a mimosa that was delicious and we will be going back!
The steak I had here was the culinary highlight of my New York trip. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were great, fun to watch, and were the ones to suggested it when I asked about the menu - thank you!!
Feels intimate, but a lot more room than anywhere else we have eaten so far. Excellent ambiance! Cocktails were great. We had ceviche which was amazing! The cauliflower had the right balance of softness without being mushy and very flavorful. The clam pasta had a great citrus flavor, and the beef curry was more meat than I expecte and, fell apart (so tender) and the sauce was soooo good! The staff was super cool, attentive not overbearing, and gave great advice.
Stopped in for a late solo dinner after a day of travel. The sausage and peppers pasta was amazing!!! The noodles were cooked perfectly al dente, and the flavor of the sauce was just the right amount of rich. Great atmosphere, nice music, cool details to admire throughout the restaurant.
Very nice and unique menu/restaurant! Philipe was awesome and very helpful with suggestions! Food was fast, looked great, and more importantly tasted amazing! Not cheap but the price no doubt was well worth the experience!
We had a wonderful time at the bar and restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. The cocktail is especially well made.
This place is great. Romantic atmosphere, great service and amazing, Latin-Inspired food. Have the mushroom tacos, the duck, the veggie tatin, the pao de quehjio. Try some of their many mezcals or a skin contact fermented wine. 6 stars out of 5.
One of the best agave spirits selection in New York, great cocktails and delicious food, the team was friendly and had amazing advices
A delicious vegetarian meal plus the vegan chocolate cake (served warm) was excellent.
Came here with friends. There was a very refreshing seafood appetizer, the sauce was perfect. We used that for the lamb sliders. Shrimp with spicy sauce also excellent The steak and fries were cooked well (medium rare) but pretty standard. Had another fish dish with avocado sauce that was excellent. Lasagna was a bit hardier. Coconut cake and churros were both great
Visiting town and had some locals recommend this place. Sooo glad we went. The food was surprising and very delicious! Our group of 8 had a variety of meals (carnita lasagna, achiote chicken, ribeye and poblano pasta). Special mention : the achiote chicken was incredible! We also enjoyed the hand crafted cocktails and server recommendations. The restaurant has an intimate vibe and wasn’t overly packed or too loud. Highly recommend a visit!!
Went during a weekday with a friend and we had a lovely experience at Comodo! They have a good looking menu (which makes me already want to go back to try new dishes.) The lamb sliders were delicious, corn with bone marrow super tasty and the mushroom tacos had a good flavor profile. Cocktails weren’t too bad, but the food definitely caught my attention more. I also loved the ambience of the restaurant with their decor and lighting. Not to the mention the staff was friendly and inviting. My friend and I both agreed we would definitely return to Comodo!
Came for breakfast as they were just opening at 8am. Great environment. They had the bar open for all you mimosa and Bloody Mary lovers. I had the breakfast tacos which were absolutely the best and my girlfriend had the eggs with sourdough bread with avocado and potatoes. Which was amazing as well. Would recommend 100% for anyone looking for a great breakfast spot. Make sure to try the hot sauce. Our server Jorge was also fantastic!
Very good. So great and chill vibe with great food. Quantities are a bit small but apart from that everything was perfect. 2 people ordered around 7 dishes including bone marrow, cheese balls, guacamole, tacos, yuca, and 2 other main dishes with 2 cocktails. Thank you for the wonderful experience
Breakfasts and dinners are both delicious and well worth a trip to this wonderful new restaurant, and it's worth going out of your way to dine here. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, but most of all, Chef Felipe is serving dishes that are flavorful and distinct. He chooses ingredients very carefully and often combines and prepares them in creative ways. You'll want to go back again and again and recommend this place to friends while it's still possible to get a reservation.
I recently attended a dinner in one of the private dining spaces and it was absolutely fantastic! The dining space was formerly a law office and it had a very intimate, homey feel. The staff at Comodo made the night very special, from the impeccable service to the thoughtfully curated menu.
Even better and more beautiful than the original version in the village! Brunch was magnificent. The menu was a perfect blend of inventive dishes and some true classics. Great for dates, meeting up with old friends, or taking your parents when they’re in town. Fantastic experience!
Comodo is my go-to spot for lunch after school, and it never disappoints! The vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff make every visit enjoyable. The menu features an impressive array of Latin American dishes, and the flavors are consistently outstanding. I love the tacos and empanadas—they're always fresh and packed with flavor. The portion sizes are generous, making it a great value for the quality of food. The daily specials are a nice touch, offering something new to try each week. Service is usually prompt, though it can get a bit busy during lunchtime. Overall, Comodo delivers a fantastic dining experience, and I look forward to my weekly visits. Highly recommended for anyone craving delicious Latin American cuisine!
very solid spot with good food & fun atmosphere! we walked in at 6PM on a Wednesday & it was easy to get a table. we started with the scallop, pao, and lamb sliders. the lamb sliders came on pao de queijo, which was genius— they were so flavorful & juicy. for entrees, we shared the pasta & the picanha steak frites. I thought the pasta was excellent— perfectly al dente & sauce was amazing. I thought the steak was good, but I expected the picanha to be a bit more tender / fatty. The fries were so delicious though— super crispy but soft inside. For dessert, we got the doughnuts and the chocolate creme brulee. The doughnuts were incredible— they reminded me of the apply cider donuts from childhood and we added some chocolate chip ice cream on top, which I highly recommend. Overall, I really enjoyed this meal, and think it’s a hidden gem! I would definitely come back.
Colonial Verde, my favorite restaurant in Fort Greene opened a restaurant in Manhattan! Food was delicious. I recommend the chicken, eggplant and cauliflower. Pão de queijo lamb sliders were delicious, but $22 is rather steep for what it is. The drinks are good. Not groundbreaking, but solid. Atmosphere is nice. I’m glad the music isn’t loud. You can even take your vegan friends here. The vegetable dishes are so good.
Actually pleasantly surprised. I met my new wife here after a day in Hudson. She had my drink waiting for me as she usually does. We stayed at Freehand and were pretty tired from the previous two days. It worked out swimmingly. We had the Branzino for two and it was perfect.
Came here one Saturday for brunch. Not a super long menu, but the food and service were good. Not too crowded for brunch time
Quiet, cozy, great place to hang after work, portions may be smaller but more opportunity to try different tapas, love Tacos, and Marrow, Guac and Vegan Chicharron is great supplement for mild after work cocktails
We went there for the first time yesterday. Pros: The food was amazing. Loved every bite. I think the Colombian soup was my favorite but honestly everything was delicious. I am a picky eater and I ate everything. The drinks were simply divine. Hats off to the bartender. Just Wow! The server (Borjas) was equally exceptional. He only had 4 days on the job but executed like a pro. He was also funny and just kind. Just one con: The suited host that took a bit to greet us at the door was off. He also sat us at the very front of the restaurant. Mind you it was practically empty and never really filled up. I think that this was due to the holiday weekend. Anyway, he did not give us an option like another host did for a later couple. I also noted in my reservation that this was my fiancé's birthday and requested if anything special could be done. There was no choice of table and no candle in the cake. Usually how many other restaurants would have handled. Anyways, I will definitely go back due to the food, drinks and server but will hope for a better host.
Stopped in here after an event for drinks and some food. Then food was good. The guacamole was served with something that seemed like chicharróns, wasn’t my favorite. They did end up bringing regular tortilla chips, but some of the chips were stale tasting. I also had the mushroom tacos..very full of mushrooms and good taste. Drinks were good.
This place used to be great! About 6 months ago I left a five star review "Beef curry was amazing. Good wine list!" after going for dinner. This still might be the case, however, I went for brunch a few weekends ago with a group of 5 after raving about how good it was but had lackluster service. Our food took over an hour and our server did not come check on us during the hour wait to see if we needed any more drinks, water or anything. We eventually had to get up and walk to the server/kitchen area to see if our food was coming. Our food finally came out but one by one slowly, not at the same time and not very good. bummer
Kind of pricey and small portions. Wouldn’t necessarily say it’s great but the prices seem very high compared to quality and service. For example, 20 dollar bottle of wine and they served me 3 day old wine. Great hot sauce.
My friends and I visited Comodo to take out a friend who was visiting from Italy. I had never been before, but I had walked by a few times and always found it inviting. We made a reservation for our group of five, and upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the staff and shown to our table. Our server greeted us shortly after and walked us through the menu and specials, which was a nice touch. I ordered the pork milanesa, which reminded me of a schnitzel. It was crispy, flavorful, and generously portioned. Just a heads-up, it does not come with any sides, so I would recommend ordering one to round out the meal. Overall, it was a great dining experience. It was perfect for a group of friends, and the atmosphere felt upscale while still being comfortable. It made for a memorable night and was a great choice for a special occasion.
The food was great overall but my main dish the picanha was disapppointing for $38 I was expecting it to be flavourful as most picanha are but it was just a regular steak cut up. You can tell the difference in the cut as you can barely see the fat cap as it was over trimmed. I would give this a 4.2 as I would definitely would not order this again even if it was $10 for the cut and taste. We went to New York Pao De Queijo the day before and their Picanha was 8.2/10 and definitely would have paid $38 for their picanha and they only charge $21. We did bring it up to them about it but it seems to be normal (we told them vs. them asking us how our meals were) The bone marrow was good altbough I would choose a thinner bread, pao de Queijo was pricy but the cheese sauce was great that went with it. The cauliflower was good For service it was ok as there was some hiccups at the end. 1. Service dropped in quality after the mains were served 2. We waited about 10-15mins after we finish but we didn't get service so I had to go to the bar to ask for the bill as they were busy chatting and eating 3. They charged us a drink that they didn't bring which was easily fixed to have them remove it 4. They didn't warn us about the kitchen closing so dessert was off the menu (or at least the waiter didn't ask the kitchen since they were making meals for them to eat)
For the price that was paid, I feel like the breakfast I shared with my friend could’ve been WAY better. The service was impeccable and the restaurant looks gorgeous but the breakfast was basic as all get out and the price paid for everything was kind of ridiculous? It would be understandable if the food was *chefs kiss* amazing…but first I showed up hoping to get the carnitas chilaquiles which is on their menu online. They didn’t have this. I cried inside but okay, fine. Ordered instead an avocado toast and my friend ordered the breakfast tacos. Her tacos looked blandish without much decor and my avocado toast (comes with two slices…I ate one before the picture…at least it’s piled high with avocados) was also blandish…it was advertised as having chili oil which I didn’t taste at all in the dish. We also ordered on the side, an açaí bowl, potatoes and fruit bowl with a peach iced tea and OJ. Maybe their lunch and dinner is better? And I heard their chilaquiles has been moved to their weekend brunch menu if you really wanna try that. I won’t make an effort to visit for either of those meals. I normally try to sample a whole menu but I’m not inspired to do so here.
Saw the chef advertising this place on CBS Saturday morning so my buddy and I thought we’d give it a try since we were coming to NY from Texas anyway. Our waitress came, took our order and we never saw her again. I called over the assistant manager who was working the bar and he served and waiting on us the rest of the evening even paying for our dessert. He was really great!!! We were not especially impressed with the food choices we got but it killed the hunger and that’s what mattered.
Really nice atmosphere, straight forward, somewhat dull food, not always executed well. I got steak tartare for appetizer, duck breast for entree, and their kumquat custard for dessert. The steak tartare was very good, although it was quite heavy on the stomach. The duck was probably the most dissapointing part - it was very tough, and pretty bland. The yucca it was served with was amazing, but I would have preferred more elements to spice up this dish. The dessert was good, although the kumquat syrup was a bit too sweet for my taste. All in all, I don’t think the food is at all worth the price, for a different vibe but similar (and in my opinion better) food, I would go to Coppelia over on 14th and 7th Ave.
I saw Duck chilaquiles and I was all in until I tasted them. Dry and not very eventful the Hamburger was fine. Not a place I'm clamoring to go back to.
The place is very pretty and elegantly earthy. The service outstanding but the food disappointed. The fluke in a yellow pepper sauce was tasty and refreshing but the size was MINISCULE. We ordered a few small plates and a main dish to try as many flavors as possible but the small sizes made it difficult for 2 of us to taste. The mushroom tacos were tasty and 3 of them was the expected volume but all else was very small for a pricey tag.
Disappointing brunch. Our party of 3 ordered a total of 5 dishes, none of which rose above mediocre. The Chilaquiles were so salty as to be nearly inedible with a sauce that tasted like it came out of a can. The $18 breadbasket was a sad little affair with 3 tiny little rolls and 4 slices of bread. The $10 fruit plate was barely a garnish of fruit-- 1 strawberry slice up, 5 or 6 blueberries and a couple of tablespoons of finely diced pineapple. The dining room was nicely decorated and would have had a pleasant atmosphere for brunch had the music not been blaring-- could hardly talk over it. Dining room was mostly empty for Sunday brunch, after the meal it was easy to understand why.
Went to grab a drink at the bar by myself and waited a while for the bartenders to acknowledge me, but a couple and an older lady that sat down minutes after me were immediately serviced. I didn’t say anything and when I was finally given a menu the server was nice, but it was a noticeable wait that I didn’t appreciate it. I ended up drinking half of my drink and leaving. Nice place and the ambiance was great. Hope for a better experience when I do decide to dine.
The short version: good ambiance with slow, poor service and just ok food. Long version: I'm really disappointed with my valentines day dinner at Comodo NYC. I'm familiar with their sister restaurant Colonia Verde and was excited for flavorful meals with intentional atmosphere. I got the opposite, which was an embarrassing valentines day choice, that took 3.5 hours to escape. The restaurant itself is beautiful and cozy, nod to its name. However, to deeply understaff on a day like valentines day... a poor choice, at best, and it was felt immediately as it took about 5 mins for our server to say "hello" and that he'd be right back. My partner and I waited for 10 minutes and were eventually helped by the hostess who took our preliminary order. My partner opted for the the pre-fixe menu: oysters (delicious, quick service), scallops (just ok, similar service), fish (slow-to-come out good fish with underwhelming and cold cabbage side, with a flavorless sauce), and chocolate cake (overwhelming artificial cherry-flavored with dash of chocolate - one bite was enough to know not to continue). I ordered from the main menu: pao de queijo (good but uncomparable with homemade, paired with a Chipotle sauce which was just weird), delicate squash (just ok, slightly cold - as if it sat out awhile before reaching our table), the pork belly arepa (delicious, the only thing I would eat again on purpose), and finally, the duck (its own tribulation). The duck I was served was cold on first bite, the sauce with it was colder. We informed the hostess (as we could not flag our server for most of our meal) and, after she talked with the kitchen, we were told that the duck and sauce were meant to be room temperature. It was not only condescending, but irrelevant as the dish was cold. They offered to either put that same dish in the oven to be over-cooked or give a new one, to which I opted for the latter. The replacement was served medium-rare (good) with sauce (cold, forgettable) on the side with salt. It was acceptable to eat but for the price? Absolutely underwhelming. We sat for several minutes, maybe 10-15 after we ate our mains, waiting for the server to offer the dessert pre-fixe options. When he eventually returned, he brought the main menu - clearly forgetting that my partner got the pre-fixe. The pre-fixe choice was the chocolate cake I mentioned earlier and after one taste, we burst into laughter because... of course. I had to physically get up and ask for the check after 15 minutes. It took another 10 to receive the check, which had 3 completely random items on it. I had to physically get up again to tell our server due to the wait and it took even more minutes to fix. In total, it took 3.5 hours to complete the experience (7p - 10:30p). Overall, it was an embarrassing night out and it was a big waste of money (and worse, time), as the quality didn't reach expectations. Never recommending. In the wise words of Randy, "It's a no for me, dawg."
the place itself is very cute but the food and service ruined my valentine’s day. for the most part the food is nothing to write home about - although to be fair the chili crisp oysters and the pork belly arepa were both delicious. but due to the service being abysmal and them not really having enough staff to serve all their tables efficiently a lot of my food was cold. when i sent back a dish for being unacceptably cold the waitress came back to try and tell me it was meant to be “room temperature” and they could cook it more but it would overcooked. it was room temperature if the room in question was a refrigerator lol. the whole back and forth about it felt condescending bc it was very clear to me that it had sat out and got cold because of the extremely slow service. we literally got there at 7 and didn’t leave until 10:30 because how slow the service was and had to get up to get a waiters attention several times. the cherry on top is that when we finally got our check it was completely wrong. i wouldn’t ever return here. waste of money
Great atmosphere, friendly service, and way too much money for mediocre food and small portions. I was shocked at how unimaginative the food was. The eggplant mole didn’t even come with tortillas. We had to ask for them and then we were charged extra. Even the drinks were overpriced for what we received. Never again, sorry.
The service at Comodo was atrocious. We arrived at 6:30 and our main course was served at 8:30 (my friend’s dish 15 minutes before mine.) we had to flag down a server to check on our food or if we needed anything at all. The food was mediocre. We ordered the green goddess salad, which was soggy and over-dressed, the chicken, and the duck, which was over-cooked, dry, and over-sauced. The manager comped our drinks in acknowledgment that the service was off and the kitchen was slow — that was also after we received the wrong table’s bill. It’s a shame because we’re big fans of Colonia Verde, but Comodo does not hold a candle. We will not be eating there again, and recommend you don’t either.
