Great place to unwind after a long day of sailing. Delicious hearty food and good drinks with a very attentive and fun staff. Great job Darrin and Sam.
Best burger ANYWHERE. FOOD ALWAYS GOOD, SERVICE POLITE AND PATIENT. ONLY PLACE TO EAT GREAT PUB FOOD IN NORTHPORT. SPEAKING AS A 30 YEAR RESIDENT.
Food was great as usual. The wait staff is fabulous. Great place for an amazing burger!
Great night out. Enjoyed some seasonal beers and great food. Bartender and wait staff was wonderful. Would reccomend to anyone looking for great food and drinks.
Our favorite cafe with great food. A wonderful local spot where they come from all over the island to have a drink and great food. Tuesday is Trivia night. Come join the fun.
I had great watermelon cocktails.. The apetizers are yummy! The atmosphere is teaming with laughing customers and alive with conversation.
Make sure you check out the specials board. They always have some good food there! Main Street is like a mini version of Cheers. Minus Norm, of course....
Small local bar with Great burgers and cold beers 🍻. Very pleasant staff ! I will be back
Food was tasty... Service was pleasant... Vibe was cool... It's a tight squeeze in there, but worth it!
Best Burger I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend.
Great lunch deal
So nice to come back to where you grew up and be welcome! Great danish and wonderful lady behind the counter who made my mom and I feel like family.
Good selection of food. Great price on bar menu for lunch. Excellent food and service.
Great food great service, unsuspecting place. Small little cafe/bar. Fabulous!
Always a great meal and friendly service!!! Best burger I've EVER had!!!
First time there, everything was great, food , beer, service no complaints will definitely be back
Simple place, great food , nice staff, reasonable prices...Whay else do you want?
French brie plate with fig jam was amazing, tortilla good and not too spicy, prices reasonable, wait staff good
Great spot! Fat Albert burger and pot roast are amazing. And their wings too!
Loved this place! Quaint bar with great food. We pooped in for a quick lunch and loved the homemade fries and the veggie wrap and chicken sandwich with the Brie. Delish!
Dined there last night with a friend and this is a welcoming cafe with great food, attentive, friendly, professional staff. The food is great and I enjoy the small and cozy, hometown atmosphere. It is a welcoming place to have a great meal!
Love Main Street. I had the Chicken Milanese salad and would highly recommend!! Great atmosphere and food, what more could you ask for?
Great basic American fare at a fair price. Place is small and always crowded for good reason. Go either on the early or late side of dinner hours to avoid the wait - or just plan to have a few drinks at the bar while you wait for a table.
Northport has several beautiful places to dine. But Main Street truly reflects the community. We arrived 20 minutes before the kitchen was closing at 10 PM. The waitress was accommodating, hospitable and welcoming as if that 10 PM clock bell wasn't imminent. So we began with the evening special of New England Clam Chowder. It was creamy but not dense. The clams were delicious and melted in your mouth. Next up was one amazingly large burger topped with crisp onion frizzles and bacon, red onion, tomato, lettuce, melted cheese, and sliced pickles. My guess is it was 3-4 inches tall and served with thick cut fries. My husband devoured this burger as if he hadn't eaten for days. I ordered the Corned Beef Reuben. Decadently divine! Grilled rye, toasty with the right amount of sauerkraut and Russian dressing. Definitely, one of the best I have been served. As the evening passed, one by one, the comfortable bar stools were taken. Everyone seemed to know their names and I felt this was definitely "The Cheers" of Northport. On the rear wall are rows of caricatures. I recognized no one and asked the waitress who all these people are. She said it is the people of Northport that come in here, the regulars. This little pub celebrates it's customers much the way Sam and Diane did in their bar. How fortunate and beautiful is their location on Main Street, the epicenter of all things perfect in Northport!
Great food options. The home made watermelon margaritas are delicious and refreshing for a summer night. The staff was friendly and cheerful. Looking forward to go back.
Let me tell you something, I’ve walked passed this restaurant countless times before stepping in with my Fiancé a few weeks ago — since then, we’ve been back so many times! Food is delicious and the service is incredible! Highly recommend!
The shrimp scampi was excellent. My husband had linguine and clam sauce. Excellent! Service was great and so was the prices thank you for a great meal.
One of many amazing local eateries in the town of Northport. Definitely one of the best burgers in the area, plenty of beer selections, and an amazing pork chop with an almost Thanksgiving feel! Highly recommend!
REALLY GREAT BURGER!!! Went here for dinner on a Saturday night and the burger was outstanding. Good service, nice, and friendly people, all in all a good time. Will definitely go back.
Main Street Cafe is one of the best places to go for burgers, fries and drinks! The service was outstanding and welcoming. The food is delicious. This is my go-to place when I’m in the village!
Excellent food with great friendly home town feel. Wonderful to gather with friends and family. Have been going there for years, and always great drinks and food !
Iconic diner atmosphere right on Main Street. Great menu… all the expected items plus lobster!!!
Great food and service with a lively & cozy atmosphere. Don't forget to check the back chalkboard for the specials. Trivia night Tuesdays for 5 bucks. The baked clams are a must!
Great food and very friendly service. We had the veggie burger and chicken parm hero. Both were great. Great pecan pie too!
Every time I come home to visit I have to go to this local staple, it was my grandfathers favorite spot, and they do well at keeping it original. it's like a little time capsule and I get to see my grandfathers picture still on the wall every time I go in there and sit at the end of the bar.
Main Street Cafe is my all-time favorite restaurant and has been for many years. Love the food, the atmosphere and the people. An incredible combination for a dining experience.
Service and atmosphere lost a star each simply because it was crowded and busy. Food is always good, and a notch above most "tavern fare". Specials are often exceptional.
Nice beer selection. Bartender was great, got us our drinks and food, nice and quick. The burger and fries were both excellent I had the main street burger.
They said they had the best burgers in North Port. They did not disappoint. Mine was a turkey burger, it came out super moist and delicious. Basic cocktails tiny place but Charming
Staff is always warm and accommodating. The pot roast is sooo good. The watermelon margaritas are out of this world. They come prepackaged and I took a couple home with me after dinner. Simply the best food in Northport
Best burgers in town and the staff are excellent. A wonderful experience when dining in AND taking out. Highly recommend.
Great food and service. Specials are also tasty. Small restaurant, so sometimes a bit tight. I just got a gift card for present, so I like this spot. It is located in a nice village also, if you like to stroll around a bit.
Great service. Great food. Portions were large. Quaint tavern.
Darin, the owner is a very nice lady. I discovered this place in 2021 when the local police officer said they have the best food in town, especially the best burger. As a SAIL or I choose to come to the town dock from time to time to get some things in town that are very convenient. Nick behind the bar Megan Tiffany are all very personable and quick to serve. I foolishly has as old man walked out the door without paying my bill on a Tuesday. I had come back and paid with cash on Wednesday and Thursday Daren the owner connected with me to make sure I knew I totally forgot. She could not have been any nicer!
I thought I had reviewed this place not too long ago, but I don't see my words anywhere, so I would like to write one again. This was my grandparents fave place and they would take my husband and I there often. We would return the favor, too. When our daughter was old enough, she came too. She loved the cafe and was always treated so kindly by the staff. Great food and the staff is exceptional They get to know you and remember your likes. This goes back years ago, but I took my grandma there one Mother's Day when my Grandfather was hospitalized. The waitress had fresh roses to give all the women diners. She came around with a vase filled with gorgeous blooms and we each were delighted to choose one. So thoughtful an idea and made a loving impact on my grandmother. The burgers are the best around, but their other food -- especially, the specials of the day, deserve to be ordered, too. Salmon is always delicious and their soups and desserts are quite good. We often come back to enjoy the place and remember my grandparents. They are no longer with us, but their memory lives on and going to this lovely cafe helps us feel close to them once more!! I was raised by them as my mother's health was very poor, so my husband and I were always happy to spend time with them at The Main Street Cafe.
Best place we ate so far on Long Island. We had such bad experiences at other restaurants across LI...we only ordered chicken tenders apertizers and then added a basket of sweet potatoes fries. Their chicken tenders were fresh cut by them and coated with panko served with a Dijon honey mustard...the sweet potato fries were lovely too. But oh those tenders!!!
Their hamburgers and corned beef sandwiches were delicious. This is our second time here and have been happy with the quality the food. There is no printed kids menu but if you ask the staff they'll let you know about the menu options for kids.
Never been dissapointed by the food or drinks. Burgers are all very tasty and spot on with their flavor, any time we have had there specials we never walk out with left overs. Staff and people there are always friendly. They have done a wonderful job of keeping it as original / preserving the history as much as possible. If I had to nit pic it can get busy at times and the was even before the pandemic.
Very quaint place, great sandwiches, quick service.
It’s true, the burgers are the best in Long Island. I had a cheeseburger and it was great. I’m not sure if they make their own buns, but it was very soft and perfect. The service was top notch as well. I look forward to going back.
After so many years of walking by, we were in town early enough to get a seat at the bar. What a terrific time. Great menu, with tons of options. Solid reasonable prices and generous portions. Met warm affable people, at & behind tge bar. Nice, good conversations and left looking forward to returning soon.
Called in an order on a Thursday it was in the late afternoon thought the place would be empty there was not a seat to be had that's when I knew the burger would be great and it was a friend recommended this place I never went because it's 40 minutes from me I'm definitely going back
This is one of our favorite restaurants and home to perhaps the best Reuben on Long Island, in my opinion. Bold statement yes, so let's just agree that it is certainly in the conversation for the best. I get it every time I am there. The location is historic and so awesome, a bit small, but this never bothered us. Great bar, phenomenal servers (Shout out to Megan), and the prices are reasonable. The icing on the cake is that it is in the greatest town on Long Island...again bold statement, but I an sticking to it! Highly, Highly recommend! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
excellent burgers, great prices, sometimes it's tough to get a table but worth the wait
Our soup, burger & fries were spot on. Service was friendly and attentive. Friendly chat with a very nice local family.
Great little place! Stop in during the Cow Harbor Festival for a bite. Yes the burger is that good! The chicken franchise was fantastic!
Small place that was great for a family of five. They made room in the back. Appetizers and entrees were all yummy and good portions. Loves the rustic fries. Buffalo wrap, burger and chicken sandwich were all hits. Service was very attentive.
Ordered the Potato Bacon Soup, Clam Casino, and the French Picnic Panini. Each course was better than the one before. Extremely delicious food and would recommend this place to everyone! RMB
Tried this for lunch based on ratings & it didn’t disappoint. Food was delicious. Just the right amount of flavor. Perfectly cooked. Burger was one of the best we’ve had in a while and the shrimp po’boy was super tasty.
We wanted to catch the sunset in Northport without the wait times. Main Street Cafe did a great job for us. Gave a good lead time because they knew they were busy. The fish and chips were a hit! One of the best we've had outside of London. The restaurant itself doesn't have a lot of seating, do not let that discourage you from picking up. Everything stayed crispy and hot for us. We will certainly be back.
Read the reviews before popping in for lunch, and so glad we did. Sis was in the mood for a great burger, and they delivered. Kind of wish the mushrooms were deglazed with a wine or had some level of upscale to them (so said my sister), but I was happy with all the flavors, plus blue cheese dressing on the side and the brie cheese substitute. This was a knife & fork burger for me. Too thick to just bite into and worth every bite. Practically licked the plate clean. #LocalGem #GoodEats #theresthatfoodie
Great place for Northport visitors to feel the local vibe. I stopped there for a quick lunch while on a road trip. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The place was quite busy mostly with groups of 4-6 people. The Interior looked nice, restroom was clean. My choice was Main Street Burger which was good enough. Prices are reasonable.
This is the second time my partner and I have eaten at Main Street Cafe. Such a warm and cozy place. The decor is inviting and rustic, which I prefer. If you're into new "hipster" type of vibes, this isn't the spot for you. The staff are super nice. The restaurant is clean. The bar is a great place to get a drink. Folks are pleasant. This last time we ate at the table near the front window. A tad bit cold there on a winter day with the door opening just fyi. Sit near the far wall, not next to the door. The food - we had burgers. My partner had a bacon cheeseburger cooked medium and I had the turkey burger. Very good. Fries were hot and bun was nice and warm. If you prefer thin cut fries, these aren't that. These are steak fries cooked nice and crispy. Great place to eat, conveniently located on Main St. Highly recommend.
Two big thumbs up for Main Street Cafe in downtown Northport Village. My fiance, son, and I were downtown and wanted a low key dinner. Even though we live close by, I've only eaten here once. The restaurant is very small, so even at 5pm on a Wednesday, it was packed. No worries, 5 mins wait. We sat down and we're greeted promptly by our waitress (don't remember her name, but very friendly). We ordered fried calamari as an appetizer. We already dug in before I took this pic, so there was probably half more of this. All 3 of us ordered burgers for dinner because I always heard their burgers were the best in town. They definitely lived up to their name. I included the check so you can see the very reasonable prices and the names of the burgers. All were cooked to perfection. I liked that the soft drinks were still pre 2020 prices and free refills. Also, I paid with credit card and there wasn't an extra fee.
Cute and quaint little pub and eatery! Nice atmosphere in downtown Northport. The food was excellent! I had the cobb salad and the tortellini and sausage soup which was great, and my wife had the Fat Albert Burger which she loved! I highly recommend this small Eatery and the service was excellent but I would come early as there is limited seating.
Very quaint establishment. The cafe has a nice bar and a good sized dining options . The menu is good , loaded with comfort foods and healthy options . They won an award for burgers , they are good ! I tried the Port wine and pear chicken . Very tender . The potatoes and vegetables were fresh and delicious too. Park towards the harbor , in front is tough.
I liked this place a lot. It has a mini Cheers feel to it, neighborhood place full of locals. We went on a Tuesday night, so parking was not an issue, we parked on the street, u don't have to pay the meter after 6pm. I ordered the French onion soup and shrimp scampi. My husband ordered the calamari and penne w mushrooms. Everything was delicious, tho the rice and vegetables that come w the entree are...low quality. Anyway, the place actually charmed me. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive.
Went here for a quick bite before a show. The food was pretty good and the I loved the atmosphere, small town bar vibe.
Very nice place to eat lunch. Our server Matthew was the best! He was friendly and very attentive. Will definitely go back.
Pretty good food in downtown. Northport.. salads are well made and huge..
The young Man was top of his game as a waiter. Attentive, easy to get a hold of if needed. Smiling
Food (shrimp scampi) was good, wait staff nice, small quaint place!
Food was good, restaurant was very very loud. No cider on tap but they have bottles. Or you can get some house wine. I ordered the salmon grilled on a salad and it was a big piece. The special, grouper with a beure blanc sauce was tasty but the fish was very very small. Their homemade salad dressing, Catalina, tasted traditional and delicious. The burger looked great and the fries were worth coming back for. The fries alone I would order at the bar with wine in the future.
Came in for late evening dessert, just before their closing. They were kind about it. Excellent creme brulee cheesecake and good coffee! What else could you ask for?
Waited a while to sit down. Even on a Wednesday night the place was crowded, but the wait is worth it. Had a very nice Manhattan clam chowder to start. My Peroni was a little warm, had a good 4 inches of foam on top the beer because of this. Had a burger for my main course, and as always the burger was excellent. Unfortunately our waitress never checked back on us until she brought us the check, but even slightly subpar service can't take away from the nice atmosphere and great food.
Great food great service great prices.. Not very comfortable.. 4 of us at a table that should have been for 2.. I totally recommend trying the food but if you are more then 2 people be prepared to squeeze.
We were in town to see a show at Engenman theater. Cafe was packed. Host took our name we went down to waterfront for a half hour and enjoyed the view and the beautiful breeze coming off the water. Back to the restaurant and in about 10 minutes had our table. Food was good. Service was excellent. Just all around a very nice experience.
Had a burger last night normally spot on but medium rare isn’t medium well ......disappointed but will return. Everyone can have an off night!
Expensive and the music stinks. Heres my reply to the owner. Its the same restaurant. The burger was not worth the money. The music playing on your speakers was horrible. Deal with it! Try boxcar burgers in ronkonkoma thats a real burger!
I was there on a Wednesday for lunch. Waited 15 minutes for a menu. Waited another 20 minutes for order to be taken. Was 2:30 was not packed. Our drinks arrived after our food 2 nd round was forgotten. Waitress had an attitude. Seemed like if she didnt kno you you were out of the group. I eat there alot but will never go back when she is working. Very upset.
Small and cramped you can't even hear yourself think. If you enjoy sitting for 40 minutes + for a small table and squeezed in like a sandwich then this place is for you
My wife and I went to Main Street Cafe and had a good time watching everyone else get their food before ours despite us ordering before they came in. We did get basic sandwiches so I suppose it might have been complicated. I also asked for a lager and despite confirming, the beer the waitress recommended and brought was an IPA. The drinks were taken off of the bill, which was nice. We took the sandwiches to go and found them fine. Despite living in the area, we will not be going back. Ps, there is a $5 sharing fee
