I can't believe this place doesn't have more reviews! An eclectic eat-in or take out lunch restaurant featuring LARGE and tasty deli sandwiches made on their own house-baked breads, soups and more, plus a wide selection of bottled drinks. Always busy, especially around lunchtime. :) Their main conceit is this: all the sandwiches, soups and drinks are the same prices, so you never need to worry about price when you're ordering. I've eaten there a few times now, and the sandwiches (their own recipes, mostly) have all been generously filled and quite good. Recommended if you're hungry for lunch (and maybe a snack for later - did I mention the sandwiches are HUGE?).

Great sandwiches and fast service. A nice little location and the pasta salad they include with all the meals was just great! All the drinks are the same price, which makes everything so much simpler, and our food was made very quickly.

Awesome sandwiches right next to Cooperstown all star village. Probably a hidden gem based on the two times we went, we sat and got delicious food right away from a friendly wait staff. Not just veggies! pork cubans and all the meats. Undercover indeed. The decor is the best, along with the vibrant free stickers.

The food was delicious. Counter Service/ordering was quick. The staff are friendly. I got the Meatball Parm Sandwich. It come on Italian bread with pasta salad. I could only eat half of the sandwich. It was very large. My husband had the Cuban Sandwich. It also came on Italian bread with pasta salad. Drinks are separate in several different coolers. Along with a dessert area in the cooler. Pizza's are also available. Take out or dine in.

When I'm in Oneonta, I don't leave town without a stop. The bread is perfect; the sandwiches are refined down to the best combination of well-curated, fresh ingredients. The "City" aka "City of the Hills" is my go-to sandwich, but all the ones I've tried were great. The soups are an experience.... Adventurous ingredients, well-prepared; delicious. Great homemade desserts (carrot cake...mmm). Vast selection of bottled drinks. Short wait for great food. Reasonably priced for the volume and quality they consistently present.

Delicious sandwiches on excellent bread. I can easily eat there twice a week during soccer season. I'll get the Cuban or pastrami whenever they have it, and my wife is obsessed with the "city of the hills".

Was visiting colleges in Oneonta and this place was recommended by locals. Undercover Eggplant did not disappoint. The sandwiches were delicious, and generously sized. It came on home made bread (my wife loved the bread) that was baked right there. Creative sandwich menu with pizza and salads also available, I suggest you stop in and try it. (We left with a loaf of bread to go!)

Sandwich was really good and able to be shared by 2 people. Salads are also huge! Menus are on a table by the cooler and specials are on the wall by the tall counter.

Best cold cuts in Oneonta, no contest. The Fresh homemade bread is truly a difference maker. I’ve been in town this week for work, and I’ve already been 3 times. The eggplant was delicious, roast beef was outstanding, love the muffuletta. Hardest part is deciding what to order. Give them a try, you won’t leave hungry.

First off, the employees are awesome! They are always friendly and willing to help. The food is always fresh, I have always gotten the meatball sandwich and my wife always gets the Mrs eggplant. I still peruse the menue even though we haven't changed after 10 years. For some reason today we noticed this place has an abundance off eggplant for some reason. So we got an eggplant pizza too! ( we will save if fir dinner after our 5 hr ride home, it was awesome) There is always a side of pasta salad (that's a meal in itself) to complement the meal, A meal so large that you can share it, spit it or save it for lunch the next day. There plenty of dessert and non mainstream drinks. Why are still reading this review? Go and grab some great food!

Got some sandwiches to-go and they were so tasty. Girlfriend recommended this place to me and I'm so glad she did! The pasta salad on the side was nice as well...not normally a big fan of pasta salad in general but I finished it off. Huge sandwich for a reasonable price and a large selection of glass bottles sodas was a nice touch as well! Very enjoyable meal.

This place was recommended by my boss after a team building meeting in Oneonta. I must say I was blown away. I had the Cuban sandwich and although it wasn't a traditional Cuban, it was spectacular!! It was one of the very best sandwiches I've ever had and I'm 55! This is a cool, hip, straight forward kind of place with a nice vibe and awesome staff. If you're ever in Oneonta, do yourself a favor and stop here for a bite. You won't be disappointed.

Really good sandwiches. The bread is super fresh and tasty. The Po Boy sandwich, while not a traditional Louisiana Po Boy, was still delicious and spicy. Heck, I even like the pasta salad, something I don’t normally care for. Other members of our party really liked the Cuban (also not a traditional Cuban). Great place for a sandwich.

I get cravings for Undercover Eggplant sandwiches. They are SO GOOD. All of them. And the side pasta salad - it's like your Nana is feeding you. This is no little condiment cup sized serving, it's a legit side. The bread is delish & the pizza is pretty danged good too.

What a nice surprise! The Creamy Chicken & Mushroom Soup was absolutely DELICIOUS, as was the roasted butternut squash, red pepper sandwich with feta cheese! Definitely fantastic food! Highly recommended!

Undercover Eggplant is my "go-to" place for a sandwich anytime I am in Oneonta. During my most recent stop I enjoyed a Hertha Winch, and the Louisiana Locksmith is another one of my personal favorites. Their fresh bread really helps to make the sandwich and I even left with a loaf to take home. Service was wonderful and done with a smile. Highly recommend!

We have now tried this three separate times and had three separate sandwiches. Each and everyone has been delicious. The eggplant sandwiches are huge and end up being two meals. Very excited to found this in town.

I had the blackened chicken salad with feta, which was extremely fresh and delicious, and balsamic dressing, while the person I dined with had a meatball sandwich. Everything was delicious! The place was packed and from the time we ordered, we probably waited about 20 to 25 minutes for our food, but we’re in no rush so that was fine. I always say that sometimes the weight is worth it for delicious, high-quality meals. Highly recommend!

I absolutely LOVE Undercover Eggplant Co. and a lot of other people do, too!! This is hands-down my FAVORITE restaurant!! The food is so fresh and flavorful and delicious!! They are very attentive to any special requests or changes to your dish, and they make it perfectly every time (I think Gordon Ramsay would even be impressed!!) The cannolis and brownies and pizzas are to die for (really)!! And you must try the penne pasta salad (the best I've ever had, so much so that my teenage son gobbles it right down.) They also have a vast bottled beverage selection (I prefer the spring water in glass) I have taken my food to go and I've dined-in with my family. The dine-in is very clean and cozy. The atmosphere is welcoming and calm, you can hear the person across the table from you as there is no loud or distracting music or loud people. It is super family friendly!! If you haven't been here, you must go!! If you don't, then you're missing out (which is fine; I'll eat yours, too) Have I mentioned that the owner is a lovely young woman who is friendly, outgoing and energetic!! The garlic eggplant pizza is to die for. Their sourdough bread was amazing!! Drove from Long Island, NY and had to stop and bring home some food. Their sandwiches are huge and come with a side of pasta salad, which is to die for. Always on point. Wish I lived closer.

The salads here are my go-to lunch option! I usually order the grilled chicken (no bacon), and the portions are huge—I can easily save half for dinner. Everything is always fresh and flavorful. Takeout is super easy, and we've never had an issue with our order. I'm excited to try their sandwiches and pizza next—they look amazing! They also have a small wine shop behind the restaurant I've been meaning to check out - so cute! Update: Finally tried one of their sandwiches and it did not disappoint! I had the Shepherds Ave, and the pasta salad that comes with it was fantastic (and I’m not even a big pasta salad person). Definitely recommend!

What a gem in Onteonta. So fresh and delicious with a local vibe. I had the Mrs. Eggplant and my husband had the Onteonta Reuben and both were large enough portions that we also had leftovers for dinner. Sandwiches are made on daily fresh homemade bread and what a difference. Fun atmosphere, clean, friendly, easy parking, reasonably priced.

I stopped in to undercover eggplant while in town for work and I am glad I did! Staff was very friendly and patient helping me find something with eggplant since I never tried it before. I got the Louisiana locksmith sandwich with fried eggplant ham cheese and onion and it was amazing! Eggplant was cooked perfectly and blended very well with the ham. I would definitely recommend this place for eggplant or any sandwich. Bread is homemade and made with love.

While in town to go to Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown(March 1,2025), tried this little hidden gem from recommendation from hotel staff at Hampton Inn. What a wonderful place. Food was amazing and service was just as good as the food. Alot if meat that was not dry and the homemade bread is fantastic. Owners daughter took time out to talk with us and gave us a loaf of bread to take back home with us. Would definitely recommend this place and definitely will being stopping here if ever in Oneonta again.

Huge sandwiches we should have split one between my wife and I. Came with a side of pasta salad that was really good too. I got roast beef wife got turkey both loaded and very good.

Great sandwiches and they were huge. The price for a sandwich shop was a little high but the amount of food made up for it. I had the poboy sandwich and it was really really good. My son got a pizza and that was also good. The staff was friendly. We were in the area for a week and everyday one of my kids asked to go back. The portions are so big everyone in my family took half of the sandwich home. The macaroni salad was just ok for me but everything else was really good.

Reviewed a year ago when they were falling apart a bit(at least in their kitchen) but now they're definitely back on their game and making pretty good Food. Their pizzas are served hot and soft and the sandwiches are always a really good choice. I believe the sandwich I always get there is called the city of the hills and I get it with mozzarella cheese, it hasn't failed me yet and if you care to try this place I hope it won't fail you.

Delicious unique large portion sandwiches and salads.

This is a fun and unique twist on a classic deli. The menu is great with some unique specials and options. It is centered around soups sandwiches and salads. The drink options are pretty broad with an offering of many bottled beverages no alcohol. The staff was friendly and helpful and the place was very busy however the wait was short. The place was very clean and all in all an excellent place for a bite.

I've come here 4 times over the last maybe 2 months, and in those 4 times I've only been able to order and get food once. Lately it seems like there's always been one reason or another that they can't serve me. Tonight they were out of bread. Really unfortunate because the food is awesome. Get it together guys.

I’ve been here many times, and the food and service are great, but they need to use different bread. Something that holds up better. My sandwiches always fall apart on that soft white bread. Today will be my last visit unless they change the bread.

Split a sandwich with my partner. Sandwich practically dissolved after my first bite, rendering it inedible. Asked for no mayo on sandwich, and received a mayo-salthered pasta salad on the side which they apparently charged $3 for. Ewww.

This place is just inconsistent, meatball parm can be great one day and all bread the next day. Follow a recipe so the guest knows what they are getting. Raise prices if you must That's part of business.

Went with friends who love this place but I was pretty disappointed overall. Ordered a salad first and took it to the house, it was pretty pricey but the ingredients looked fresh so I don't mind paying for quality. Not sure how I could be disappointed with a salad but it happened. Nothing on it was seasoned, tons of extra ingredients that wasn't on the menu that didn't really go together, dressing was bland. I honestly couldn't even really eat it, it felt like 2 different salads in one box, just eating the raw ingredients (I love mushrooms but don't enjoy just eating them raw or with ther other ingredients that were on the salad). Went back the next day to speak to someone about it because I really wanted to like the food since my friends spoke so highly of them. Spoke with the chef and she was receptive but a bit cold as if I offended her which wasn't my intention. Asked for suggestions on what to order and ended up picking a meatball sandwich since she said they made the meatballs in house. Got home and was surprised when I picked up the sandwich, it was completely soaked underneath. Meatballs were tough (overworked) and bland, marinara was flavorless, and it was served on untoasted sliced white bread which basically turned to a soggy mess. Hot foods + white bread= soggy. Then to top it off the sandwich was sitting on top of a pile of bland pasta salad adding even more moisture. Was a huge disappointment overall because they have such great reviews and the building was really clean and had a cool vibe to it. Great drink selection and unique menu but fell really, really short for me. **if you must use white bread try toasting the bread so it doesn't get as soggy, or using a more substantial roll that will hold up to a hot food and maybe a sheet of deli paper between the sandwich and pasta.**

I have NEVER left a negative review, and I am certainly someone who has frequented many establishments. Our first encounter was ordering when we were told (at a sandwich place) that they were unable to make anything other than what was on the menu. (We have a 4 year old, I asked if they could just throw some turkey on two slices of bread) nope! Can’t do that, we were told everything is pre portioned (is this subway??). We said ok whatever. That’s fine, ordered our food to dine in. AFTER we ordered and sat down, the staff came over to tell us we couldn’t NOT dine at the establishment and would have to take our food to go, because they were closing. We got there at 6:30, hours of operation are until 7pm. So, instead of a sit down meal, we had to eat in our car. And, the WORSE part, the sandwiches were all awful!! My daughter got the meatball sandwich, the meat looked like dog food, I ordered the turkey special, I might as well have ordered lettuce and tomato on bread. Little to NO turkey on the sandwich (see attached pictures). Also, the pasta salad was disgusting and bland. Literally tasted like cardboard. Not to mention, they are very SERIOUS about their closing time. There were patrons IN the restaurant still finishing their meal, whom they walked over and KICKED OUT at 7pm! Oh, but offered ‘to go’ containers for them to finish their food elsewhere. Wow!!! I have never witnessed such terrible service, with awful food, and to pay $15 for a sandwich with little to no meat?? Our bill was over $50 for 3 sandwiches and 3 drinks. I’ve had much better in NYC for cheaper. No thanks. I will NEVER return.

Service was terrible. Asked for napkins and silverware and never received any. Couldn’t pick up the sandwich it was so soggy it was a mess. The majority of the sandwich was soaked in olive juice. Waste of money. 👎🏻
