Texas Chili Parlor is a legendary local spot known for its chili, Tex-Mex dishes, and dive bar atmosphere. Customers rave about the chili, especially the meat-only Texas chili, and the generous portions. Some find the service inconsistent.

Awesome place. They have lunch specials every day which are good and the brisket burger i had was delicious with the prefect amount of spicy. Would go back when I'm back in the area.
Great Austin vibes! The legendary chili, queso, and salsa were all a win! Prices are great as well.
What a gem! This place was a great find. The food was all very delicious! We ordered the burger and chips, cesar salad, gumbo, chili, steaks, blt and potato salad. Everything we had we shared, and the entire family agreed it was delicious. Quaint little restaurant and bar. Enjoyed the nostalgia, and the price was decent for what we ordered. Definitely would go back!
I've lived in Austin for 40 years but never eaten at this iconic institution. This Sunday was the perfect opportunity to finally check it off my bucket list. Parking anywhere in downtown Austin during the week is usually an expensive, time consuming and generally a big hassle. But not so on Sunday. We found plenty of empty, shady spaces to park on 14th Street at Lavaca that were completely free. Once inside we almost had the entire restaurant to ourselves, save for the staff and about two or three other small parties. I started with a Sunday special drink, a double bloody Mary for only $6. For eats we had the Chili potato and Frito chili pie. Both were loaded with delicious, spicy 🔥 chunky chili meat, diced onions and jalapeno slices. The potato came with a large side salad as well. We were both pleasantly stuffed afterwards. The decor is straight out of the 70s along with the background music, which all adds to the ambiance. You gotta visit this place if you want true exposure to Texas, both from a cultural perspective and from your tastebuds. What a great experience!
Great place, great service, and consistent good. Returned after several years- first time when visiting the Capitol of Texas, and now while in town for work. Was warmly welcomed in. We ordered 3 different types of chili, one of which was Frito Pie style. We all enjoyed our dishes. The chili was authentic and as expected for a Texas place. I look forward to coming back again as soon as I get a chance to return to Austin.
The XXX Hot Chunky Beef Chili tasted really good but wasn't very hot but it came with pickled jalapenos and Louisiana hot sauce which really helped. The White Pork Chili, Venison, and Gumbo were all pretty good. We got a side of Fritos to eat with the chilli. My only complaint is that the server asked if we wanted cheese and sour cream with the dishes and didn't mention it costs more.
Ok. The outside looks a little rough. The inside looks a little rougher. But every thing we ordered was excellent and the staff was very friendly (as is everyone we've met here in Austin). The black bean chili was outstanding. The chicken tacos were excellent as was the beef chili without beans. Make your way over here if you're in Austin.
A diamond in the heart of Austin. Such an amazing spot for chili. Came here after visiting some museums. Located in the centre of downtown. Tried the xxx chili and it did not disappoint. Burrito was amazing too. The atmosphere gives of dark yet relaxing vibe. Definitely a spot you have to check out if you’re in the area.
My favorite spot in all of Austin. Great service, hard-to-beat prices, *delicious* food. Mad Dog Margaritas are iconic. The “Habanero Beef & Pinto Bean Chili” is some of the best, most addicting chili you’ll ever have. They’ve got a great variety of chilis & all sorts of other menu items. Pictured: pork chop dinner smothered in queso & habanero chili, cheese nachos w/ habanero chili (jalapeños on the side), two Mad Dogs (:
I got a cheese enchiladas. There's literally only cheese in the enchiladas so don't be surprised. The sauce I choose mild chili without beens which is the perfect spiciness I was looking for. The enchiladas are okay. My friend's Mac n cheese was a bit plain. But their chili dog was good!
I have been dying to visit this place for many years... Was so happy to have the opportunity to this week. It exceeded all expectations due to the service Daniel provided. Exceptionally wonderful waiter. The nachos were absolutely amazing and the margaritas were strong. Highly recommend!
The food was amazing especially the beans! The chili was delicious and chunky, Would recommend if you like Mexican food.
Oh my goodness. This place is delicious yall. We literally could not decide what we wanted which actually worked out perfectly because we each got the three option combo! I got a baked potato with all the fixings (which was baked to perfection) the green chili with white beans (so much flavor my mouth is watering thinking about it) and then a cheese enchilada with the green chile sauce. So stinking tasty! My husband got a margarita and loved it! He also got the venison chili, queso and chips and gumbo. Everything was so good and we would 100% go back! Also, huge shout out to our server who had several tables but still got everyone's orders and food quickly and efficiently!
Gotta love this place! Texas Chili Parlor has all the charm of a dive bar and a hole in the wall restaurant all in one. Some say the missing toilet seat is a pain or a hassle but, just like Quentin Tarantino filming here, it’s part of the history. Bartender Brenden is friendly and fun and has great recommendations for food. We had 4 chili tasters, gumbo, nachos, a burger, and drinks and the bill was super low. We’ll be back!
We are currently staying at the Hilton across the streer, and when were walking to the Capitol, we saw this pub, and we thought let's go inside after some sightseeing, we had some margaritas and nachos, with some very salsa, and the nachos with a free refill of nachos was only 5 quid, Margarita was like 9 $, so great prices for this expensive city ( just parking at our hotel is crazy 51 dollars per night -_- ), we came back for some late dinner at 9 pm, had their chilli which was really flavourful, had the one with only meat, my brother had a chilli burger, he liked that one too. We are probably back tonight for more drinks.
🎶Wish I was in Austin, at the Chili Parlor bar🎶 Food is great and I love the history of the place. Pictured is my chili sampler with White Pork, Venison, and Five Bean Veggie. The venison chili was a standout among the three. I also got the gumbo and liked it a lot. Service is very friendly and food was fast and hot. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a taste of the real, old Austin. You will not be disappointed.
Downtown Austin staple near the Capitol. They put chunks of brisket in their chili, and have a good variety of food options. Full bar with bar seating if you choose. Always where we stop when we're in town!
We are always looking for good places to eat in Austin while visiting our daughter in college. It's hard to find somewhere with good atmosphere AND good food. 10/10 on the food. The texas sampler appetizer, amazing!! Their is a huge variety with many different options but we went the steak and enchilada route and have ZERO complaints on any of the food we got. Absolutely amazing and really enjoyed! Not the mention the really great prices. Will definitely be coming back!
The iconic restaurant featured in Quentin Tarantino's " Death Proof." The Texas Chili Parlor is scary goodness at its finest! The gumbo was full of flavor, and the chili was incredibly tasty, and did I mention HOT!? Well, it's HOT!! A must try if you're visiting the capitol building as it is only two blocks away. The service was awesome and fun. I highly recommend this perfectly rustic spot I Austin.
Came for lunch. Authentic Texas Chunky Beef Chili without beans was excellent. Steak and enchilada combo plate was excellent. Migas, pork chop, ranchero taters, and beans plate was very good. Smirnoff Bloody Mary was OK. Amy the server was very friendly and eager to make helpful suggestions. We will definitely be back for more. Update: Came back the next evening for dinner. 3 Chili Sampler (Venison and black bean was excellent; Black bean, beef, and sausage was excellent; White bean, pork sirloin, hatch chili was excellent). Steak and enchilada combo plate was excellent again.
Wow! This place is an instant classic. Cosy environment and the Chili is to kill for. We have the steak & enchiladas, Mac and cheese chili, the chili potato and the chili hot dog. Everything was great. Just be careful as hot chili can be a bit hot. They really know their chili. Please like this review and follow me for more honest reviews.
Your authentic downtown Austin dive bar! Not many options to eat in this small part of town, so it was a great positive surprise when I found the TCP! Especially that it looks straight out of a cult film and makes me want to learn more about its history! Food is good, beers are even better, the atmosphere is unbearable!!
I had a sampler and it was all good. A bit small but that's cos I'm used to those American portions where they try to make you explode like Mr Creosote.
You have to like greasy spoon diners with dusty signs on the walls, creaky floorboards, and a vibe that says we haven't changed anything since 1978. I tend to get a chili flight sampler, but most recent visit I got enchiladas with chili piled on top. Bathroom is less of an adventure now -:there are stalls instead of shower curtains for privacy in ladies room. I doubt the place is ADA compliant, and there's no designated parking. We love it. Very "old Austin."
The cheeseburger was just like any other cheeseburger. Nothing special but that’s what I wanted. I loved the chili! The 3 chili sampler is a great deal and I found the serving size to be pretty good. My boyfriend and I shared the sampler and were absolutely with it. Of the chili’s we tried, I liked the sausage one the most then the habanero one. I could take or leave the white bean chili- it’s still good though!
I’ve lived here for nearly a decade and finally paid a visit to the famous Texas Chili Parlor. It was wonderful— no complaints. Great customer service. Everyone was personable and friendly. I felt right at home! The margs were good and the chili was delicious. I’m planning on visiting again soon.
Great little place, quick and friendly service (it was Sunday evening). Food was excellent - chicken enchiladas with chili and veggies, plus three taster bowls. Really good value too. Would definitely recommend.
Came for the food but stayed for the vibes! Our server Rachel walked us through the menu and gave incredible recommendations. The drinks were delicious and strong. We will be back and ask for Rachel again!
Pepe, his drinks and the food are so wonderful! Such a gem in the no longer recognizable Austin. Tx Chili Parlor was around when Austin was still weird, small, fun and affordable and I’m so glad to see it still thriving when so many other locals have been pushed out.
I’ve been eating Freida’s enchiladas here for over 40 years at this point. Imagine if your favorite dive bar served great (but in no way healthy) Texas comfort food. It’s not fancy, it’s not expensive, it’s got a funky atmosphere, and to me it’s kind of like the last gasp of the Austin that I knew before it started booming in the 90s. Long may it live.
The TCP is legend, an iconic landmark in downtown Austin. For 50 years it's been a place where ordinary people have conviviallly rubbed elbows with Texas legislators and Capitol regulars. Most of the others are gone but the Parlor goes on.
If the definition of consistency were an actual place Texas Chili Parlor would be it! Went in last night with my husband and we had an excellent experience. The food, service, and prices were good and the atmosphere literally hasn't changed in decades. Just a friendly kind of nostalgia. I highly recommend.
In town for a conference and my husband mentioned wanting to try this for a long time so we walked over and had a great time! We had chili tasters and nachos. Of course we had to get the Mad Dog Margaritas, that’s a must do! The chili was amazing. The tasters are a great way to try a few different flavors. We were seated and waited on quickly. We went early…around 5:00pm and it was busy but no wait. I highly recommend giving this place a visit.
What a fun place! We stayed at the double tree suites and it is just across the street. We had the trio sampler and steak and enchiladas. I loved the spicy guac 🥑 and the steak was perfect w the enchiladas. They packed everything perfectly and had all the needed utensils and napkins. Definitely great price for the amount of food and nothing but southern hospitality! I highly recommend!!!
IN LOVE! Never had a better chilli in Texas in my 35 years of existence! The attention the I’m assuming manager/owner gave us! That tip tier southern hospitality! I highly recommend the chilli dog. The chips and queso with the chilli and the chilli burger and if you like a little spice the MEDIUM is where it’s atttttt!!!! Ohhh and if you like a little drinky drink?! The MAD DOG MARGARITA will get you right! Coming back every time I’m in Austin or PASSING BY!!! Thank you all for the hospitality and experience!!!!
Did you know chili is the official state dish of Texas? I didn’t 😅 Naturally, whenever I’m in Austin, I have to stop by this place near the state Capitol for their Hot XXX Texas chili. No beans, just slow-cooked beef, chili, jalapeños, and onions—with the Mad Dog margs, of course.
This place has one of the greatest atmosphere I’ve ever been, and the food is absolutely amazing. It was my first night in Austin downtown and I really felt as a local.
Friendly staff, great food that is all very spicy, and decent prices! Will definitely be going back on future trips to Austin.
My bf and I LOVE it here. Great food, great prices, great people watching. We were there a couple days ago and this woman got her family kicked out and I reallyyyyyy wanna know the drama I want to know what she did so bad. It was incredible to watch from a couple tables away tho. Love this place and its employees and vibes so much. It never fails me
Texas Chili Parlor is an absolute classic—such a dive in the best possible way, packed with character and history. The atmosphere alone is worth the visit, but the chili is next level. Some of the best chili I’ve ever had. I ordered the chili frito with habanero beans and wow—seriously spicy, bold, and full of flavor. Exactly what you hope for when you come to a place like this. You know it’s good when there’s a 20-minute wait at 2 PM on a Monday. That says everything. Amazing food, awesome vibe, and a true Texas institution. Definitely worth the wait.
You ever walk into a smallish looking dingy dungeon with glowing red lights? That's the ambience of the TCP and it's awesome. You walk into a different world of vintage signs, with a classic looking little bar on your left where you know the regulars sit daily. You're escorted to a table that's jammed among other tables in a rustic setting. And I absolutely love the vibe. The service is amazing and the atmosphere is to match. $25 ribeye steak with potato and salad is the perfect meal for a great price. The chili is spicy as is the waitresses. I would recommend using a bathroom before going into The TCP as you have to duck into the men's washroom through a 20 inch door and avoid the sink at the same time. The washroom is the size of a small closet. But that also adds to the vibe. We had amazing service with Crystal who threw in a couple bumper stickers and that was appreciated. Would definitely eat here again
If you’re going to Austin, you definitely have to consider visiting this place. Like in every downtown, parking is tricky, but it’s worth it. The place has very Texan-style decor, the food is good, but the service from the waitresses is really bad—no interest in providing good service.
Bartender told me "good luck" when asking about service at the bar. I sat at a table instead. Food was very good. Very affordable so the value is there. I had the enchilada and steak plate with a sampling of the XX chili for dinner. The enchiladas were great. The steak wasn't the highest quality but it was seasoned and cooked well. The chili had large chunks of what seemed like chuck. Everything was very good. I went back for lunch and had the two taco plate and the cheese enchilada plate (they were that good the night before). The salsa with the chips and salsa was great. I could drink it. The taco shells would have been better if they had been heated up in an oven or something. The taco meat filling was really tasty. The enchilada plate was fantastic with the ranchero sauce. Service at the table was great both times.
This is a must see and eat place in Austin. The food and service were excellent. We were greeted with smiles and seated quickly. Our waitress explained the menu and the top selections. The food came out quick and hot. The Texas chili is the best for you meat eaters. No beans, just meat. I personally had the lunch special which was an enchilada and a tamale both covered in a chili of your choice and served with rice and beans. My kids got a patty melt and a bacon cheeseburger and my wife got a cup of veggie chili. We destroyed it all and left happy and full. And all for under $50. The atmosphere was eccentric and felt like an old roadside chili bar. I loved it. It got packed by 12:00 with a lot of locals. They know what’s up! Don’t miss out on one good meal at an affordable price at the Texas Chili Parlor.
Delicious food at a reasonable price, in a great, no-nonsense atmosphere. My friend and I had just been complaining about how most places blare music at you to try to make you think you're having a good time, but just make it hard to have a conversation. We immediately noticed that in the Texas Chili Parlor, there is none of that. Just the sounds of people having a good time, without a pumped-up soundtrack. The server was friendly and helpful without being fake bubbly. It was the perfect place to enjoy great chili, eggs, Tex-Mex, and steak.
The food has great flavors, each dish is well-prepared, offering a true taste of Texas comfort food! The service is outstanding. Our waitress was really attentive and efficient, always ensuring that your dining experience is enjoyable and smooth. The experience makes you feel right at home. The decor at Texas Chili Parlor is so lively and inviting, warranting 5 stars! The Texan decor creates a cozy and authentic vibe, perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. The ambiance is casual yet energetic, making it an ideal spot for both casual dining and special occasions. All the neon lights make it so cool to see. Texas Chili Parlor offers a delightful dining experience with delicious food, stellar service, and a vivid atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a true Texas culinary experience!
Pretty good! Stopped in to try the famous chili, did not disappoint. Got chips and queso to go along with our tasters (we tasted mild and med), chips were very good! Reasonably priced snack after visiting the capital. FYI, it's a sticky-table type of situation there, but I think that's the intended ambiance for that type of bar/restaurant.
It's a rundown looking restaurant that resembles a dive bar but serves some good food. For starter I ordered the tostadas and salsa to start and it was spicy but delicious homemade salsa with some crispy chips. For main I ordered the chili sampler of white pork, venison, and black bean beef sausage chili. Venison and white pork were ok, just bland bowls of soup, but the black bean beef sausage one was very good, full of flavor without being spicy. I also got the gumbo sampler and that was delicious also. I was warned not you get the habanero beef and pinto beans because it's the spiciest thing they have in the whole restaurant, so don't order unless you can handle it. The bathroom was pretty nasty and the scenery is tacky but if you only care about trying some good chili then you should come
We went here for dinner while in town for work. They have a great bar area...lots of TV's, down to earth, eclectic collection of things to look at. Cool, no frills location. Plenty of seating. Great service. We had the queso and chips with salsa. Great, homemade salsa with good spice. Crispy chips. I had an enchilada with chili, the venison with beans chili and a chicken taco. All were tasty! I love a good enchiladas! The venison chili was super tender and tasty!
We visited this place because it was in walking distance to the hotel. It was a great choice! The service was great! And the variety of food was good, not just chili. The grilled chicken breast was huge, served with yellow rice and pinto beans seasoned with chili powder. They didn’t have some of their beers on menu due to the football game the night before.
Was visiting the state Capitol nearby and had to pop in here after reading so much about it. The chili was different to what I've had elsewhere, but pretty tasty. I did expect more depth and punch though. Loved the old school dive style atmosphere. Staff were all very friendly and moving fast! Took a little while for food to come out, but no issues at all.
My first time in Austin and I stayed at the Doubletree not to far from here. It was in the 30’s when I went in on Tuesday. The chili was perfect for the temperature. I got the 5 bean chili, the white pork chili, mac and cheese, and a salad. The chili was great, the mac and cheese was sub par at best and the salad was very basic. Whenever I come to Austin, if it is cold I would definitely come get a bowl of chili from them.
This chili institution in Austin has been there for 50 years. There was a constant stream of people coming in to dine and all the tables were filled. Service was exceedingly slow as we only observed 2 servers the night we were there. The menu offered a selection of different types of chili (around 5 kinds) and that variety was nice because you can order a sampler to try several types of chili. The disappointment came after a long wait when all the chili arrived, lukewarm. We tried the sampler of 3 types of chili and 1 vegetarian chili. They also have a beanless chili for meat-only lovers. Flavor-wise, the white bean chili was different from traditional chili flavor and pleasantly unique. However, the rest of the chili was lackluster in flavor and complexity. All in, go only if you have a hankering for several types of chili and be prepared for the wait.
This place hasn’t changed much as I’ve been here several times over the years. I’m glad this place is holding tight in downtown Austin. The food was pretty good as I had the enchiladas with beans and rice Tex-mex style. The service was great as they were attentive and kept checking in to see if we needed anything. The atmosphere was nice and you can see old pictures and relics of years past. You can also see how the place has weathered the test of time. This is a must see, do and eat if you’re hitting up classic Austin landmarks for food. Just a good ole Austin honky Tonk joint.
Walked in to eat before UT basketball game. Old school Austin vibe. The food was good. The chili on our enchiladas was the XX but really had no spice so will be back to try the XXX on frito pie. The chips, salsa and queso were tasty.
Stopped in around 9:00 pm 😋 and ordered the steak and enchilada plate, the pork chop (hands down the best), and a chili baked potato. Everything was solid, but the pork chop really stood out. I loved the old-school bar feel—there’s signage everywhere, and I caught myself looking around a lot just taking it all in. The place has character. The environment and how close it was to my hotel are big reasons it earned 4 🌟s. Overall, it was different, unique, and the service was great.
Very underwhelming. “Killer” nachos were the most basic nachos I’ve seen I can’t imagine what the regular nachos tasted like. Microwaved melted cheese on store bought chips. Burger was oaky. Nothing to get excited about. I wanted a real good meal and this was not it. I don’t know where they got the pictures of the food on the other reviews but my food looked nothing like that.
Mediocre food that was lukewarm. Tried the no beam chili, chili pasta, and the gumbo. The chili pasta was good, the other 2 were very average. The ambience was really nice and our server was very attentive and came by to check on us many times, but I wish the chili was tastier.
It’s a dive bar - with typical bar food, and great chili. So set your expectations accordingly. I was shocked at how cheap the food was though - a scoop of potato salad (which was very good) for $0.75?? Fantastic.
I would not describe this place as a must see or a hidden gem. It might be a great dive bar but as a restaurant it is nothing great. The Legendary Bowl Of Red chili was underwhelming to say the least. It was hearty and filling but basically just a few large chunks of meat that did not have much flavor in bland, sauce without much flavor. The hot dog was solid and the bun was moist and toasty. I would get the hot dog again. The nachos appeared to have come out of a bag as did the accompanying salsa. The service was a little on the slow side but not bad. The people were friendly. The prices were in the inexpensive side.
Had lunch mid-week. This feels more like a dive bar - run down but okay. The waitress was great. The food was mediocre. I did a sampler - the chili had heat but was not really flavorful; the gumbo was okay but certainly nothing to write home about; the best item was a chicken enchilada but it was not great. Bottom line, it was all okay and I would eat there again but would not have high expectations.
Food was good, didn't notice until I was finishing up one of my hot dogs the bottom of the bun had mold. It appeared as though I ate half of the mold spot.
This was on the list of things to do in Austin so when we went there I did not expect to be comforted by a mentally ill man sitting outside the restaurant as I walked in..This man stood in front of my wife blocking the entrance and then came in and spoke to us while we were seated. Not one word was said to this guy by anyone at this establishment!!! The food was okay but I like my Chili with more seasoning. The service was good because our server was real nice. I can say I went 👍🏾
Texas born and had lots of chili in 5 decades. The chili here was the worse yet. It was basically roux with chili powder in it! The salad was good and the burger was mediocre. Great atmosphere though.
The chili was not like anything I’ve ever had in Texas or elsewhere. It was chunks of beef in a sauce that tasted like straight chili powder and cayanne pepper. I made the mistake of ordering xxx, because I like hot stuff, but this was gratuitously hot with no flavor. Believe it or not, the jalapeños actually helped cool the spice down! Please rework the recipe! 🙏🏽
After a wonderful rally for Democracy at the Texas Capitol, many rally attendees went to the Texas Chili Parlor. Lots of signs in support of American democracy! Unfortunately, a short bartender singled us out and tossed us out for being, get this, “political”. It’s like this guy had no idea what was happening two blocks away at the capitol.
The chili taste like tomato paste. I’ve had good Texas chili, but this is not the place for chili. The restaurant is mostly empty and the food lacks flavor & substance. I ate here several years ago and it was excellent, but something has changed. Perhaps the management team changed or maybe the real cooks left for a better gig.
I was really looking forward to trying this place after seeing the reviews on social media. Unfortunately, my friend and I waited over 15 minutes to finally order after watching the waitress tend to the other 6 tables in our dining area. Other tables were served appetizers, drinks, and meals promptly. They were short staffed, however, the help that was there was very particular about who they paid attention. Other tables were given refills and treated friendly. We had to ask for attention. Maybe it was because we were given the little table?? I told my friend when we came we didn't need 2 hrs on the meter. It took us an hr to get our meal. The waitress in the pic stood at the computer more often than not while the other waitress ran around like a mad chicken with her head cut off helping everyone else. The food: The mild brisket meatball chili was blah, the burger was good as was the drink. My friend had the chili sampler and 2 of the 3 chili's were blah. The venison chili was tasty. Very underwhelming experience allaround.
Absolutely awful. Visiting the area and looking for something really good. This is not that place. Service extremely slow, got the order wrong, and never checked back to see how correct food order was. It tasted worse than something you eat straight out of a can. Salad covered in black olives and green onions - which weren't listed on the menu as being on the salad. Ordered Chipotle chicken, but got dried out chicken breast with bland beans and rice. Took it back to make it the Chipotle, which is what I ordered. Same piece of dry chicken reheated with cheese and watery red sauce. Even though I sent my food back barely touched, server didn't care or ask how it was. Don't waste your money eating here.
I came to this Texas chili parlor expecting something hearty and walked out wondering how badly you have to disrespect chili to serve this. What they call chili is a bland, greasy mess with the texture of wet cement. The beans were especially offensive. Mealy and undercooked. While I was there, a huge, out-of-control male customer physically and verbally attacked a small female staff member. Not raised voices. Not a misunderstanding. I’m talking aggressive, threatening behavior directed at someone who was clearly just trying to do her job. And what did management do? Nothing. That’s not “Texas tough” that’s straight cowardice. More disgraceful than the food itself.
See this guy! His name is PEPE AND HE'S RUDE AND DOESN'T LIKE TO WORK! Our last 2 visits and its his shift shift. He tells us we can't sit at the bar because people are sitting there. Both times, we sat at a table by the bar to eat. And both times the seats were still empty when we left. I hope his imaginary friends conti ue to enjoy this place becuase this paying customer will spend our money else where!
6 adults (ages 38-50) visiting from Florida walked in mid afternoon on a Saturday. Place was about half full, decent lunch crowd and lots of open tables. Bartender informed us to seat ourselves. Found two 4-top tables next to bar and proceeded to slide them together so we could sit together (and, seat ourselves). As the tables were almost slid together an older white man who I am assuming owns the place came and aggressively pulls the tables apart rudely saying “I don’t come to your house and start moving furniture around” and mentions we can’t put tables together because of fire code. No, there would’ve been absolutely no obstruction of path to an exit. We don’t run a business or sell a service from our house. We weren’t drunk. We weren’t unruly college students who I am sure they deal with all the time. Just pulling tables together like I’ve seen done in thousands of restaurants. Zero hospitality whatsoever. Menu looked good, too, but I wasn’t about to give that man one dime so my wife and I had waters while others had a drink or two before we went to spend our money elsewhere. This experience motivated me to write my first ever negative online review and that’s saying something. My career is in hospitality, too, so I am more than empathetic to what restaurant owners have to manage and the stress that comes with it. Hospitality industry isn’t for everyone.
