This site is one of the older ones for this venerable Antelope Valley chain, and as in all the others, service is quick, food is plentiful and delicious. Try the Sunday brunch buffet! Wonderful!
Service was quick and all the food fresh and hot. Servers were attentive and quickly keep refreshing our drinks.
My daughter has a play off game out here in Palmdale. We were deciding what to eat, my mom suggested Mexican food. We saw El Toro across the street, we entered and they recommend the buffet. Overall the service and food is great. I will surely come back and and recommend this place.
I love this place, everytime I try something new it taste Delicious, being Sicilian & the love of food, El Toreo west & East has the best latin cuisine around. All restaurants can't touch it, the quality of the food, I'm hungry now giving this review. ☆☆☆☆☆☆ 6 star review.
Just picked up dinner. Oh my gosh! It was amazing! $36 to feed 4 people! My burrito was awesome! From order to takeout it was less than 10 minutes! Food was incredible!
Best albondiga soup I've ever had. I've had it many times for many years. Good service great burritos as well! Sorry I can't get past how good their soup is.
We met up with some friends for an early dinner. The service and food were wonderful. The friends talked and talked way past finishing dinner, but the server never showed any annoyance.
Been eating at this location since the late 70s. Everything is delicious and authentic. Personal favorites are their enchiladas, albondigas, and their Sunday brunch buffet. I wish they would sell the bacon, sausage, cheese potatoes, and chorizo & eggs as a meal...really miss that buffet; stupid covid.
The BEST El Toreo I've been too. The food was really really good and service was quick and very friendly. The margaritas were amazing. Will definitely come back.
When I order takeout within 15 to 20 minutes your order is ready to pick up. The meals come at the same exceptional meal portion sizes and the quality of the food is the same as their sit down dining which is more often than not the same experiences I have had at the majority of dine in restaurants. El Toreo West serves the absolute best tasting home made style salsa and the best blended margaritas serving the A.V. Here's the kicker...if you enjoy a perfect margarita with your mexican food like I do, you have the option to order takeout margaritas with your food order! Way to go El Toreo West! - Sherry, Palmdale
“I miss this place” Living in St. Louis, I don't get to eat at BJ's very often, and it had been years since I'd been back. They have a lot of good stuff, but I missed the pizzas the most - I highly recommend them. And make sure you order one with green chilis!
We are from the San Diego area & are very familiar with Mexican food!!! Not sure on some of these reviews. Yes the booths/tables are close & it can get quite loud but I think that adds character to the place. We come here every 1-2 months, sevice is always great & food has been on point everytime. I have yet to move past the wet burritos & enchiladas hahahhaa both are amazing. Can't comment on the other selections due to how dang good the wet burritos are!! If ur looking for good food at a great price give them a shot. They could raise the prices & we would still be there everytime!! See ya tonight El Toreo West!!!
Foods awesome they were a little busy but we went at dinner time around 530pm our waiter was good he was busy but still tried to make sure we were okay the bus guy was absolutely amazing and fast and made sure we had drinks and cleared our plates will definitely come back to this location.
Best pizza around. Great pasta and egg plant. Service is fantastic. Good parking. Try it you'll like it.
Always a great establishment to visit. We come here a few times a year, they know us, We know them, it's a fun environment for the family.
The food was o k.they do give you large portions. The drinks were better
I absolutely love this place have been a Patron of El Toreo for 50 years . The first restaurant was on Sierra hwy. We have been coming to the El Toreo west location since the first one was torn down. The food is excellent. Their salsa is the best and nobody can hold a candle to their refried beans or margaritas. I highly recommend this place. Sunday brunch is also great .love it
I have been eating here since they opened. Food is always great as well as the drinks. Service was outstanding.
Been Coming to El Toreo for over 30yrs now!! Always so Friendly to my family and Kids, the food is always so Amazing and tasty and you never wait more than 10 minutes after ordering for your food to arrive even if they are completely full inside. A great wholesome family restaurant.
This a great location to eat brunch , lunch and dinner. The prices are very reasonable. The service from the entire staff are remarkable. Love it here !
Hidden gem. Not a tourist place, just great Mexican food in large portions. Service was great, and the prices reasonable. We'll definitely go there the next time we're in town!
Took my son here for dinner. We really enjoyed the spicy salsa. It was delicious 🤤. He ordered the carne asada wet burrito...OMG IT WAS SEASON WELL. I ordered the enchiladas which were ok. For drinks I got the Patron Margarita...Let's just say I'm definitely going back today for more Drinks and the wet burrito 🤤🤤🍷
Very Excellent food! And it’s so nice to get a really good dinner salad or soup with your meal instead of just a basket of chips. Professional waiters. The restaurant could use a little remodeling.
That was the best meal I've had in a very long time. I haven't had Mexican food like that in years. I've never been to El Toreo, any of them. I just found out what I was missing out on. And I don't think they've raised their prices in 20 years. I remember paying prices like theirs back before I had kids. And I was never able to eat the whole meal back then earlier. That's ok though, this way I can cherish the deliciousness tomorrow also. What a great meal!!
Delicious Mexican Food, our family have been customers for over a decade. Awesome Chicken salad/salad. Salsa/Chips very good! Customer service is always a pleasant experience. Portion size is generous, usually waiting time is short. Shredded beef crispy tacos, enchiladas, soup, Chile Rellenos, burritos are all delicious!!
The best!!! Been going there over 40 years!!! Still the best!!! Thank you for such great food and excellent customer service. Never had a bad order or rude waiter...whether it was take-out or eat in. 😀
I absolutely LOVE this place! Food is amazing the chips and salsa as well and their lemonade to die for!!! I recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food. The sizes of the meals are big most likely you will have to take half of it to go lol. But overall I guarantee you will love it.
Haven't been by in years, still great food and service! Lunch was awesome, brought a visitor from Texas and found this Mexican food is quite tastier than back home. Great work Team Toreo! Thanks Gabe, USAF Ret 🇺🇲
I passed this place all the time. Today I finally was able to go in and WOW. It took me back to when I was a kid. The chips were hot and the salsa was homemade. The food was phenomenal and the service was exceptional!! Come and enjoy!!!!
Excellent service and great food.
I lived a couple of blocks away from this restaurant since I was a kid until recently. This place has great food and a well-stocked bar. I like getting chips and salsa as a on the go snack. I’d recommend checking this place out if you haven’t already.
One of the last great restaurants in the av. You can always count on the staff to be quick, friendly and helpful. They always take time to say hi to my children and make us feel like family. Now the food, you would be hard pressed to find better. The enchiladas are perfect for my little boys and I love everything. My husband always gets some sort of chicken or steak dish and is always beyond happy with his food. Free chips and the best salsa I've ever had, my boys eat it like soup. My favorite Mexican restaurant ever!
Birthday celebration for one of my office staff and here’s where we had a delicious & authentic Mexican food. The food is delicious & the service was amazing! It’s an older building so the layout is funky, but in my experience that’s where you get the best food.
Delicious food and great service. Employees are very nice. I love coming to this place.. Can't wait to go back.
Food was excellent and service was great! Chips and salsa were served fresh and still warm.... Chicken enchiladas are bomb! Mango margaritas are delicious!!!i don't usually eat salad but this one was so good... Lettuce was ice cold and crispy and the ranch dressing was best I've had for months
Always a pleasure. This has been a family favorite since I was a kid. We moved away but go back for this place from time to time. Theres nothing like genuine Mexican food. Not a lot of places get it right. These guys are definitely the best. Service was amazing. I came in with my mom and 2 kids and they accommodated us great. Would highly reccomend.
We had a party of 9. 5 adults and 4 kids. We got chips, salsa & drinks right away. My shrimp tacos were great. Everyone else was happy with there food. We went Saturday night and it was very busy. We got our food within 8 minutes. The kids hamburgers took a bit longer thou. I left very full and content.
Went here for mother's day brunch ..it was good but I wish they would put some new items our for their brunch buffet..they've had the same stuff for years ...good was good tho just played out now !
Celebrated three birthdays today.Have been going there for 52 years. Always had great service. Best Mexican food forever.
Got a Carne Asada burrito for my husband and he loved it! The restaurant is old school and classic Mexican restaurant clean! Spacious even a patio and complete bar! Looking forward to Sunday Brunch buffet. Friendly and fast service!
Wonderful and tasty Mexican food. Original and authentic environment for dining. Friendly staff. I'll be back.
Absolute historical Restaurant of Palmdale. Displaying its interest of authentic Hispanic food with the greatest management and establishment can become! Superb!
Not from the area just wanted albondigas (meatball soup) not a lot of places had it by my hotel so I came here. Honestly wasn't sure at first service was a little slow but they were just opening up, chips and salsa were good fresh and salty, the glass of water had a funky tap water taste but not enough to ruin the meal which was delicious 👍 got a side of rice with it during the lunch special came out to 13$ and I had left over rice to take back. If I'm ever out here again I'm coming back for another bowl
Ordered out but the service and food we're great! While waiting atmosphere was great also. Service was quick and easy! Definitely a wonderful spot for dinner and drinks.
One of the oldest restaurants in the antelope valley, El Toreo never disappoints. With a menu that gives you classic and authentic Mexican food as well as great drinks and probably the best prices in town. With four locations in the valley you will most likely find one near you. Definitely worth going again.
Looks a little strange and small on the outside. Once you get inside, the smell of the food is amazing. Friend had mole. He said it was one of the best he has ever had. I had a shrimp dish. The quantities are large, so I could only eat 1/3 of it and took the rest home. Very lovely staff
Nice family owned restaurant. Portions are unbelievable generous. Will be returning.
We love this place. GREAT albondigas, great beans, great salsa. You can tell how good a place is by their salsa. Enchiladas are good, burritos are good. Guacamole could definitely use some finesse.
The only reason we gave them a 4 star is because they have a B grade in the window. However, we still love their food.
We were a large loud and fun group separate checks. Servers were attentive and kind. Food was yummy and plentiful
Burrito supreme was huge. Very good. Enough to take some home for lunch the next day. Only issue was my friend asked for coke..they brought pepsi. The server should have said they serve pepsi she doesn't like Pepsi
They fixed a messed-up order, it was awesome! They got some good food there and they are nice. I recommend the cheese enchiladas. Oh yeah The hot sauce was nice and hot.
The only reason this place gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because the place really needs a touch-up, and they definitely need a hostess to greet you when you walk in. I had to flag down a waiter to help us get a table! The ceiling is old; it has a lot of water damage, the outside patio is a mess (not open to public), and it looks as if it's being used as storage-- Mind you, it's been like this for years! The ladies' room is a mess. The restaurant needs a makeover badly! Now on to the food... The food is delicious! Great portions! The drinks are good too. I ordered the Carne asada plate with a chile relleno. My husband ordered steak enchiladas; he enjoyed them, and for our 9-year-old, we ordered the kids' hamburger plate. So as bad as this place needs a makeover, the food and staff make up for it!
A classic location which has been around for decades. I remember the original one on Sierra Highway which my family used to go to when I was really young. The old guard family workers who started it up are still around and I appreciate the continuity of the people involved. The prices are a little bit more than the ideal for me but there still a consistent place with a lovely buffet on Sundays and excellent offerings of food that will absolutely fill you up
This is the only place for great affordable Mexican food and margaritas!!! The food is so good. The staff feels like family. I love I have a former student the works there! This is an AV staple
Sergio was our bartender and he made a great Cadillac Margarita. I ordered the shredded chicken taco and my wife ordered a bean and cheese burrito. Both were fabulous! We love El Toreo. We've been eating at El Toreo West for decades now. This was THE place to eat Mexican food in the AV for years. I remember when 10th St. West was the edge of town and we would have done here with my Aunt and Uncle. Can't wait to eat here again soon!
The fresh chips and both mild and "hot" salsas have a rich full flavor. Very addictive 🤪. Try not to fill up on them. Generous portion to price ratio was exceptional. Chili Colorado was very flavorful and better than most "authentic" restaurants. Family friendly with large booths. Polite staff and quick refills.
The service was amazing. Very attentive. Nice atmosphere. The food was maybe a two star. Grilled chicken tacos are a processed patty chopped up put into a tortilla. And the rice was old and hard. Uneditable I did eat the chicken by the way. But the people that work there are amazing!
Went in for the brunch special. Pretty small. I would assume because of Covid. Only had bean, rice, corrizo, ham and eggs, chicken (drums), and cheese enchiladas and menudo and red pork pazole. Menudo didn’t have much homany. The drinks are really good though. 2 people 2 drinks was almost $68 pretty pricey for the small food section and the fact that I mainly filled up on fruit.
Somewhat of a hit and miss. Fish tacos were greasy, my server was falling behind on drinks and other things. I'll come back, because service/food has been better in the past. If it's like it was on my most recent visit, I won't be back there again.
The salsa was very salty. My pork taco was great and so was the meatball soup.
If you want Americanized Mexican food, this is the perfect place. If you want authentic Mexican food, look elsewhere. The service is excellent, however. I never had to ask for a refill for my drink.
Ordered a tostada, the shell was not cooked and greasy. The filling was good. Margarita was only fair. Low grade tequila, light pour. Not satisfied with this experience.
Food is good. Service prompt on weekend evenings. Restaurant is a little cramped on the inside. Few times we went, they were cleaning and there was overwhelming smell of detergent inside, which affected our meal experience.
In the past I have generally had good experiences, food took quite a while for a Thursday nite. It is also surprising to me that they still only have bud lite on tap. With all the great food out there these days I doubtfully will ever go back.
Food was lackluster and bland 2 stars at most. I should have known something was wrong when a Mexican restaurant serves salad before your meal. Margaritas were also watered down. Service was good and is the only reason I added another star.
It was just okay, a little disappointed to be honest. Their steak was good. Their beef burrito supreme, not so much. The beef that was used was corned beef out of a can. Server was lacked enthusiasm but very, very kind!! Wouldn't come here again.
Brunch was Horrible. But for $13 Not Bad, However Remember You get what You Pay For. Unfortunately there was a Long Piece of Hair in My Food. I did bring it to the Waiters Attention and all I got was a Lemme getchu Another Plate. Brunch was Supose to come with Champagne, BUT None was Offered. Buffett Choices were Very Limited and the Quality was Very Poor. Temperature of Food was Not Warm. No Salsa Bar or Chiles Available. However the Menudo was Not Bad. If You like Chorizo and Eggs, Frijoles, Menudo, Nopale Salada and Hair in Your Food....Then thisnis the Place.
I was recommended this place by so many but after trying it twice I was very dissapointed. The buffet they have is mediocre and the regular menu isn't much better. This is low quality Mexican food and you would get better food just about anywhere else. I definitely won't be giving a third try.
My margarita tasted like tequila with a side of juice. I recommend this place for drinks, eat before you go. Personally I will take a hard pass on the food. My order was not prepared properly, shortly after I received my food the woman next to me received her order. She received something other than what she ordered. I had the tostadas with no meat and fajita veggies. First, I was expecting a round flat surface, similar to a taco shell. The meal came in what I've only had a salad in. My first mistake. The bowl had beans at the bottom, veggies as the next layer, then a bunch of lettuce. There was so much lettuce I couldn't figure out if I'd ordered a salad or not. There were not a lot of beans or veggies and it beans were watery.
The location is in dire need of refurbishment. The place is very run down and the staff needs more smiles to go around. Our server disappeared for 15 minutes at a time and I didn't get refills. The buffet was lacking, but the food ordered was in massive quantities. I'm talking huge. My salad was good and my mother's taquitos were almost burrito size. This was mothers day weekend, and thus, might have been stretched thin. That excuses the service, but the restaurant is horribly run down. Smaller portions to save cash and more cash to refurb.
I hate to leave bad reviews but I have to. They have decent chips and salsa, and the waiters do try and hustle to get you food and drinks quickly. The layout of the restaurant can make it difficult to hear members of your group, and we had a another table beside us that made it impossible to talk to ourselves because of the closeness. Main problem: Their Margaritas.. Please if you decide to get one, get only one! The house/Cadillac margaritas are not made with solely tequila, my guess would be a mix that also has ever clear that makes them dangerously strong and hard to notice.. My party all ended up ordering about 2-3 large Cadillacs each and we knew we were feeling good but it was a huge delay in when it hit is, all of us got blackout drunk after about an hour after having our first.. We are all big guys 6 ft 200+ and I would say professional drinkers, please stick to one large margarita if you want to partake, you won't feel it right away.. They tasted okay, not like I would make one at home.. Food was average, the carnitas I ordered had zero spices in the meat, and to be honest I though it could of been canned pork, very disappointed for the $16 that costed.. stick to chicken here.
I ordered my food which was good enough. I asked for chips and salsa as I waited. The waiter that had my chips and salsa gave them to someone who just walked in. I had to ask for him to bring me some more. When he brought it he had an attitude but I dismissed it. A younger waiter came and he was very polite. When I got my food home the taco was hot but the enchilada, beans and rice were cold. Before covid I use to go to this restaurant for lunch from work and they were wonderful. I don't think I will be back.
The food wasnt that good I remember a couples of years that I was there and the food was really good, but don't feel like that anymore. They took almost 15 minutes to bring me my food and they were not busy.
The waiter was really nice. The meatball soup was great. While waiting for our food there was a pest that crawled under our table. We were going to change food to go but food already came at that point. Ate our food with our feet off the floor. Beans were over garlicky and rice to dry. I had always wanted to try this place since I was a middle school kid walking home from juniper but it was a bit of a disappointment.
Haven't been to this spot in a while. Used to be very spanishly romantic atmosphere , good food, and drinks. NOW,, It's totally the opposite !. The hole place has changed into some cold generic Mexican dive. The beef borrito I had was large and had nothing in it but BEEF PAIST! The So called Margaritas, were just a high priced strawberry slushy. Service was lousy,, three or four waiters hanging around the register using foul language loud enough for half the dinning room to hear. Also making comments about the girls/ women that came in. So unless your acustum to this Tiajuana atmuspher,, then this is the place you need to go. In fact I would have been much more satisfied if I had gone to TJ.
Was waiting on our food and snacking on chips when a cockroach ran across the table and stopped to hang out on my fork. Needless to say we canceled our order and left. Will not be returning.
The restaurant was dingy and cold. There was a window with two bullet holes, and the wall also had a bullet in it. I ordered a cheese enchilada with rice and beans. The enchilada was 6 the top of the beans were burnt. Obviously, my food was left under the heat lamp for a bit too long. My husband ordered the 3 combo plate with taco, tostada, and chili rellano. Everything was soggy. We will never return to that restaurant.
If they had a quarter star I wouldn't use it. Save your money, time, and taste buds. Went on a Tuesday night, slow, still set for 30 min and no food. Margaritas taste like they were right out of a can. Servers were rude, didn't give a shot, and personally were a holes. A salad came with my fajita order.A chef salad.....Nothing like hot ranch on wilted lettuce. Mc Donalds was my choice after being at this dump and I don't recommend McDonald's at all. Place sucks.
My tacos were so dry i wish they had lemon and salsa. The charro beans were sweet. The restaurant was not clean they had a big mess after the brunch - stained table clothes and no toilet paper.
Multiple times I have tried to place an order, the individual that answers the phone had rudely hung up on me. I've also when able to place an order for a minimum of 7 people picked up said order and almost a third of the order is missing or wrong. Unfortunately my mother has been going to this restaurant for over 20 years ( back when the food and service excellent ) these days the food is questionable and the service is non-existenting. Hope I never have to go again!!!!!
Absolutely disgusting food. Service is extremely slow. Waiters/waitresses do not check on the table at all. I ordered the steak salad, it was practically water in a bowl. The Italian dressing was also watered down; they were running out so they mixed water with it to "make more." Filthy building on the inside. DO NOT waste your time or money here.
Been going here for years love this restaurant wish that the quality of service didn't go down and the quality of food as well.. They never answer their phone and it's not because they're closed ended up driving to the store and called the phone number right when I walked in the door and watched them all look at the phone and walk away. It really isn't a surprise that they've been losing business and having to close different locations.
Service was ok. Building is old and looks to need a remodeling asap. Food was not very good at all. Plates were huge, big enough for 2 or 3 people, but nothing on it was worth paying for. I would rather have half what they served if the food quality was better. I would not recommend this place to anyone, not even for the chips and salsa. We had the chile colorado plate and the chile verde plate.
I came to order breakfast at 11 am and they are not open yet. I called and they picked up and did not say a word. I was hung up twice and they still have not opened. It is 11:10 am and I am already disliking the service. So, no breakfast at this place. This restaurant may not be worth spending your money on. They cannot arrive on time and they fail to provide service.
Food took forever to come. Food was not good at all. Super salty. Or no flavor. Waitress was very bad. Constantly needed reminders. Overall do not recommend.
As a kid I grew up eating here, every Sunday for the buffet. While in town I was so excited to see it was still here after 20 years away. Service was amazing, Sergio is the bomb! Food was amazing! But I happened to stop in around eight pm when the “locals” where at the bar at they where fighting and pushing each other around along with swearing at the top of their lungs and talking very nasty racist comments. The bartender didn’t care they were complete smashed and kept feeding them booze. Upon putting on music videos that contained nudity we left….. very disappointed. Not a family establishment
