Recensioni di Himalayan Cafe Pasadena
I loved the food here. First time I visited with dad and we just loved the food. Dad had the Curry with Salmon as the choice of meat. I had the Korma with Lamb as the choice of meat. We also had the Garlic naan which came with four pieces (enough for both of us). I had my share of Indian cuisine from various places. Of course, the Himalayan Cafe is a Nepal cuisine, and it was just as delicious if not even better. At Indian restaurants I always order their Chicken Tika Masala, which is my favorite. The Himalayan Cafe had such option, but I felt I should try something different and I did not regret it. Highly recommend it to others as I plan to return with my family in our next visit to Pasadena. Of course, i will be having the Korma or the Curry. :)
This is a wonderful small South Asian restaurant. We ordered Vhel Puri, Curry Chicken, Tandoori Salmon, Vegetable Biryani, and Onion Naan. Each dish was terrific. Our server was helpful and attentive. Give it a try.
My husband and I came here for the first time this week and we eat Indian food quite often all around LA. This place was quite excellent! The tandoori chicken was very flavorful and spicy! You could tell that the chicken was very well marinated which you don’t find at all or even most Indian restaurants. Tikka masala was also delicious. We also tried the Momo dumplings, which were delicious as well. Also had the most sweet waitress. Recommend this over all other Indian food in the area!
A hidden gem. We skipped the $13 lunch specials for spinach/paneer, chickpeas and the best lamb biriyani I’ve ever had. I’m not a fan of strong flavors and have never eaten Himalayan food before. Compared to Indian food, the flavors are less complex, mild, not spicy and more enjoyable. Did not feel like a heavy meal. Plenty of leftovers. Skip the plain paratha.
I had the chicken spinach shaag with rice and naan bread. I also had a really delicious tea. The tea was a milk tea. I really enjoyed the entree and the naan bread was tasty. You can ask for mild or spicy food. Service is great! The server checked on us several times and was very pleasant. The ambience is relaxing. They played really soothing music. There are parking structures really close by.
The food was so good we forgot to take pictures haha! The vegetables samosas were particularly amazing. Great ambiance, nice staff!
My tummy is very very happy right now. Definitely hit the spot for my craving. I was in the mood for tandoori chicken and it was flavorful. We also tried the daal soup - i felt it was a good earthy and healthy nourishing food. The Singada was delicious- the sweet of the sauce with the fried pastry was love at first taste. The shrimp masala was the right amount of spicy. Good and fast service for a person that when in borderline hangry.
Our visit to Himalayan cafe was truly exceptional. They place is very clean and they momo, mixed grill, daal soup, and naan were all delightful and exceeded our expectations. The restaurant's cozy atmosphere created a warm and inviting dining experience, and the attentive staff made us feel well taken care of. A must-visit for those who appreciate fantastic food and a welcoming ambiance!
Service is great. Food is to die for. The selection for dinner is nice! If you only try their lunch buffet, it's hard to know what makes this stand out amongst everything else. I'd still do it again, but trust me, DINNER is where it's at here! The last time I was here, I forgot to ask for their home-made chilli paste, but if you're a spice lover, that's where it's at!
Incredible flavors and balance. It’s so delicious I’m honestly so happy with this meal. I got veggie momo and chicken thali with masala tea and could not be happier. It’s rare to find such delicious food! You have to come in here! I love that the thali is served in thick brass, it makes the whole experience elevated and beautiful. But the flavors are really where it’s at. I will definitely be coming back here!!
Every time we come here, the food is delicious and the service is great. Himalayan mix grill, samosa chaat, mango lassi, naan, Nepali Thali special, chicken korma - all 10/10.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! An absolute authentic party in my mouth with every bite! The entire experience was DELICIOUSNESS! From great service to the BEST mango lassi I've ever had! I really appreciated eating such a delicious meal in an aesthetically pleasing environment. Vegans, Vegetarians, and meat eaters will LOVE the inclusive menu. I'm DEFINITELY returning!
The Himalayan Cafe in Pasadena is a very good option to taste different dishes from the Himalayan region! You can try Nepalese food as well as Tibetan and Indian. The vibe is relaxed and the decoration is cozy and authentic. I recommend this place if you are looking for a different option and a good service. The Momos 🥟 are especially good!
Genuinely enjoyable experience. Kind server, fun flavorful food, calm atmosphere.
Very authentic flavors. Full range of vegetarian and meat dishes. Love the appetizers!. We had the goat curry and the chicken Tikka Curry and much more. Flavors are on the spot. Service is super friendly. Prices are very reasonable.
Such a wonderful experience having lunch here. It was quiet right when they opened on a Thursday and the service was so friendly! Got the Chicken Tikka Masala lunch special with a couple of appetizers and it hit all the right taste notes. Sweet, savory, creamy. And their Masala tea was so heavenly! Definitely worth a return trip!
Food was so fresh and delicious . We had vegans in our party and everyone was very happy with the food. It was all very tasty and fresh! Will definitely go back
They are consistently delivering satisfactory meal! We want to share with you these experienced. Their Salmon Curry, an all time favorite, Vegetables Biryani rice and Combination grilled chicken and lamb. Friendly server and accommodating. Come and visit this place!
We had a great meal here! We were the only table there for about half of our meal on a Friday night which was such a shame because the food and service were so good! We had the samosa chaat, followed by the chicken roll and chicken biriyani. The samosa chaat was good, lots of flavor and textures. The chicken roll was delicious, made even better because of the bread. And the biriyani was definitely one of the most flavorful we've had. The vegetables in the biriyani and roll were still crisp and not overcooked! The person who served us was friendly and checked in on us a few times. We'll have to come back and try some new things.
Lovely food and lovely service. Must try their garlic naan and chicken momo! The chutney sauce is very delicious. Also the samosa chaat with chickpeas is good! Lots of flavors including a tamarind sauce, yogurt sauce and spices. The chai is also good, they offer sugar on the side if you want to adjust the sweetness. Parking lot is next door for one one dollar for 2 hours.
Himalayan Cafe was such a delightful experience! I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer, and the Lamb Nepali Thali Special, and each dish was packed with flavor and made with care. The Chicken Tikka Masala was creamy, rich, and perfectly spiced—exactly what I was hoping for. The Saag Paneer was fresh and full of earthy goodness, with paneer that was soft and perfectly cooked. The Lamb Nepali Thali Special was the real highlight, though—it’s such a satisfying and well-rounded dish, with every element complementing the others beautifully. What made the meal even better was the server. They were so kind and attentive, taking the time to check in, explain the menu, and make sure everything was just right. Their warmth and hospitality really added to the whole experience.

I had a superb tea from here. It was so rainy while I visited here. Having a nice tea during the rain was so nostalgic. The ambience here is awesome. Parking available in the same building starts from $1 is so convenient.

Very kind and community friendly. The food is so fresh and feels very home made. Just be prepared for the air inside to be full of spicy fumes! (my gf had a small asthma attack but she said it smelled and tasted so good she didn't care)

Good Indian food. I orefer this place to the Indian restaurant across the street (All India Cafe) because the service is better, and the staff is more honest. Twice, All India Cafe has pulled shady stuff around my bill. Himalayan Cafe has equally good, if not better, food and honest folks. The atmosphere is not amazing, but it us a pretty small mom and pops type of restaurant, but the food is tasty and the staff is very nice.
We tried this place months ago while we were visiting LA. We had momo, chowmein and two different curries on each vegetarian and chicken option for each of the items. Momo were good but chowmein was my favorite. Chicken curry on the first day was fine but taste of cauliflower potato curry was just basic for me personally. I would have given five stars but they forgot to put utensils at all on the second day 🥲. Overall their food were decent and delicious plus they gave a lot of extra sauce as per our request.
I think this restaurant is a bit of a hit or is depending on what you get, I’m still playing around with the lunch special. A little pricier to, but staff is friendly.
Excellent food and cool Nepalese decorations. We ordered and shared a few dishes between three people family style. It was just enough for a very satisfying dinner, but the taste was so good that I wish we got more just to take home. Sadly we had a negative encounter with a homeless man making kissy faces at our female friend through the window, who then got verbally hostile when our server asked him to go away before calling the police. It was an unfortunate incident that occurred just at the end of a lovely meal. But overall the service and space is good and they produce very delicious food.

As a fellow Nepalese who has been living in Pasadena for years, I have seen the rise and fall of this place Before the food was absolutely delicious catering to our Nepalese taste but the staff and chef has now changed Our last visit was absolutely terrible, Momo was probably the worst Momo I’ve had in my life, dough with plain bland chicken filling Chowmein was just ketchup, left with utter disappointment, would not be visiting again 😔
A Nepali, Tibetan, indian restaurant near Pasadena downtown. I have opted lunch buffet, but i have disappointed as not have much option on starters and the curries are tasty but gravy is not thick 😑. Might recheck on alacarte items and rerate. Service is good, staff is friendly helping others to choose menu and also considering request. Restaurant interior is awesome depict Buddhist pic and sculpture on wall. Restaurant have not its own parking. And the restaurant could accommodate 15 to 20 person at a time.
I ordered the goat curry from the lunch menu. My goat showed up in a small metal bowl along with 3 other small metal bowls which had rice, soup and beans in a sause which were all very good. The goat on the other hand was the worst thing I have ever ordered from anywhere. The small metal bowl was filled with the toughest meat on small bones many most of which were extreemly sharp. I asked our waitress if I could exchange this for chicken curry, and she looked at and said NO with a stern face. My wife and I looked at her in disbelief. I told her again this goat is not ededible and is dangerous to eat because of the sharp bones. She looked at me and she said, you should have asked me if the goat has bones in it. Are you kidding me? I told her resturants typically bend over backwards to make there guest happy but not this waitress. My wife and I finished our meal which my wife share her chicken marsala from her small metal bowl, with me and I paid the bill eirh no tip,and told her we would never be back again. Don't waste your time going here even though my wife and I used to go her frequently before covid. Pasadena has plenty of good Indian resturants. Don't waste your time at this one.
Good food but flavor was not outstanding. Everything seems a little too dominated by single flavors as opposed to the balances you expect from South Asian cooking.
Excellent service and ambience. Food tasted very good. But there’s too much Red and yellow colors added to the biryani or paneer curry etc. that’s unhealthy and not nice and not necessary. Veg Momos are great. Veg Chowmein was good too. Soups were good but again too much artificial red color in veg soup. I packed left overs and I threw biryani and paneer curry away after I couldn’t wash red color off my fingers.
The atmosphere is so good; I love the vibes and colors. Small decorations, but the food is not up to the mark. We got vegetable pakoda and momos; both things disappointed us a lot. The vegetable pakoda was not well cooked inside and in momo it has a flavor of turmeric a lot. Their service is good atmosphere is best pure nepali vibes.

The service was ok, food was disappointing. Chicken tikka masala was very creamy and bland. Maybe that's how it's done in the Himalayas, but if you like the Indian version this was nothing like it. The tandoori Chicken came out on a fajita cast iron skillet, which was...interesting.
If you ever want to judge the authenticity of a restaurant just see the number of native people eating there. You will never find Indians eating here (with some exceptions - might be their first time). This was hands down one of the worst Indian food I've had in the country in the past 5 years of living in several different parts of the country. The curry was not at all what it said on the menu. The noodles were just oil and salt. Anyone who likes the food here has either not had better Indian food or is paid to write a review. On top of that the owner is not very friendly either!! We ended up leaving the food and eating elsewhere. P.S: The music is not authentic Indian music. They have just done interior to feel that way. SAVE YOUR MONEY! FIND A BETTER RESTAURANT!!
Absolutely terrible experience. I came to this restaurant with my service dog, who is clearly trained and properly identified. I even showed proof that he is a legitimate service animal, yet the staff still refused to allow me to sit down. What made the situation even worse was how incredibly disrespectful the staff were. Instead of trying to understand or handle the situation professionally, they were dismissive, rude, and acted like I was doing something wrong for simply bringing my service dog — which is legally allowed under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Their behavior was not only ignorant of the law but also deeply unprofessional and humiliating. Being treated with that level of disrespect over something that is a protected right is unacceptable. Because of their refusal and attitude, I had to leave and find another place to eat. If the staff cannot treat customers with basic respect or understand something as fundamental as service animal laws, they should not be working in customer service. I would strongly caution anyone with a service animal before coming here. Straight up violating HIPPA.
Extremely Disappointing and Misleading Reviews: I had a truly awful experience with Himalayan Cafe Pasadena, and I’m honestly shocked by the positive reviews because my order was nothing like what’s being advertised. The food quality was terrible, and the portion sizes were shockingly small—barely enough for one person. It honestly made me wonder if this was intentional because it was a takeout order and no one could question it in person. The food were inedible, the chilli chicken was hideous. Instead of proper pieces, it tasted like hard, overcooked kabab pieces in dry sauce. The texture was extremely tough, and it was impossible to chew. The momos had an unpleasant smell, which immediately made me lose my appetite, and the noodles were mixed in a strange, sauce that ruined the dish entirely. I genuinely don’t understand how this place has so many positive reviews, because my experience was the exact opposite. If the quality differs between dine-in and takeout, that is incredibly misleading and unacceptable. This was hands down the worst food I have ever eaten. A complete waste of money, and I would strongly advise others to think twice.
