We stumbled upon this amazing restaurant and it was absolutely worth it! The restaurant is nestled in a charming compound with outdoor seating, a bar, and another restaurant sharing the same outdoor space. The ambiance perfectly balances indoor and outdoor seating. The food was outstanding, especially the tuna appetizer and the smoked salmon plate – both highly recommended! Don't miss out on this gem, but be sure to make reservations in advance!
Great experience + happy hour 💗try everything you can try but just in in case you have to pick one drink. Daiquiri was better than sangria in happy hour section Order everything you want 💚You have to try •eggplant meatball ball • pork belly •chicken •pork ribs Get any dish you like if you come with3 or 4 people and share everything. That will be more fun than us, the table of 2 (too much food to eat and the Cauliflower & Ahi tuna (raw fish poke bowl style) are lil lest tasty compare to first 4. (and we had to take some food home. Haha)😆 Great chic restaurant. Great house music. I love the vibe here
Last Sunday, my daughter and I stumbled upon Ocotillo while exploring downtown Phoenix. We were immediately captivated by its stunning atmosphere and welcoming staff. The aroma of delicious food filled the air, and we couldn't resist ordering the brisket and eggs and steak and eggs. The dishes were beautifully presented and incredibly flavorful. Ocotillo is a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience. Whether you're a local or a visitor, you won't be disappointed."
This isn't your typical burger place. The food here was fantastic!!! We thought that since we've never been here we'd try somewhere new for our 31st wedding anniversary. We ordered eggplant meatballs, porkbelly and fried cauliflower. The food that not only sounded delicious but tasted exquisite!!! The dessert was rum cake with strawberries and tres leches ice cream...oh my goodness out of this world...but like I always say "you don't have to take my word for it. Try it out for yourself."
Update after 7 or 8 more visits: Absolutely nothing has changed my mind about this restaurant! I have actually challenged myself to order dishes that I normally wouldn't like/order and have not been let down in any way! Each visit tends to be a three course meal due to their diverse menu! The focus on ingredients and creative flavor profiles shows in each dish. The quality is simply indescribable in my mind, I'm often left speechless. The food, service, and atmosphere combined make me feel as if I'm a judge on Top Chef or something! I actually find myself grateful for each visit and look forward to many more in the future! Original review: I was really impressed by the amount of flavor our meals had on our Saturday visit. Cooked well, well seasoned, and immensely savory! I tend to order more simple dishes to see how restaurants grasp the basics, and they nailed it! I did have the opportunity to also taste their Brisket with au jus, I would go as far to say it was majestic! As for pricing, even with some drinks, our meal was reasonably priced but the quality added so much more value. The service was quick, thorough, and accommodating! I really look forward to my next visit!!
Friends and I came for an amazing dinner. Exterior satisfied with all their food. Beef short ribs are a must. Perfectly charred on the outside. Meat is soft, most and flavorful. Beef ragu pasta was an excellent serving size. Great for sharing. Eggplant meatballs were also delightful. Would get all of the above again! Great place for date night. Ambience is perfect. Even has a fire pit outside.
Stumbled in here for a drink at the bar one afternoon and the service was so great and the menu looked awesome so we came back for dinner the same night. We were blown away by the flavors! The eggplant “meatballs” were incredible, I’ve never had anything like them before. Crunchy on the outside and nice and moist in the middle. Tasted so great with the polenta. I will be dreaming about the ragu!
Absolutely stellar place. The seating was really good, same with the scenery. Not to mention the service was decent, where they were really fast at serving. Kudos to the chefs, who made the awesome food that I could not in a million years recreate. Overall, a very atmospheric place to visit in Phoenix.
We found this gem in Phoenix while looking for a place with gluten free options. My husband and I were incredibly impressed. Though their menu is relatively small, their food is excellent. Delicious, unique flavor combinations. Great options for gluten free and vegan too. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and did a great job answering our questions. Inside and outside dining, neat patio seating, and an outside bar. We'll gladly make the 40 minute drive from the East Valley to go back!
Food was fantastic. Had the ribs and chicken / pancake for brunch. Food was outstanding. Christian our server was awesome. Vibe was chill and inviting. Great place.
This is a great brunch spot. I like that they take reservations and have such a large dining area. They can always fit me in. I hate waiting at restaurants for a table, so I always look for a place that will take reservations. They were even able to fit in our large group on Monther's Day. The food is always amazing. I love the beets, burrata salad, and balsamic strawberries. The drinks are pretty good too, but they take a long time to come out. They should hire a second bartender for busy shifts or expect the manager to help out to get the drinks out faster. The outside seating area is lovely, but they have the misters on WAY too high. I sat there once, and it was like a shower. I also wish the bathrooms were attended to better. The food is amazing, but they've had the same menu for over 3 years. I like the old reliables, but I'd appreciate some more variety. A specials menu would really push this place over the top.
Food was outstanding. I travel to Venice California a lot and knew right away the Chef had to be from there. The food was fresh, the pairings were Devine, and the different textures of the foods were a joy. I am very hard to please as I am gluten free, dairy free, and sometimes my partner says fun free. We all had a blast. We sat outside which was a lot of fun as well as I enjoy interior design. I loved the corrugated metal’s, wood panels, and bistro light. My own recommendation would to have table lighting so I can see the food better. A little dark but it was night time. If you are visiting phoenix this is a must.
This restaurant was delicious. I loved the selection of vegetable dishes. My favorite was the eggplant meatballs. There is something for everyone on the menu all with interesting combinations that will have you wanting more.
Went for restaurant week. A relaxed atmosphere with upscale food. Everything was delicious and well presented. The patios are nice with misters and the indoors more refined. There are large tables for big groups. The sidecar is a nice bar to wait at for a table. Highly recommend.
We went there with our kiddos and sat outside. This place is huge and great for larger groups. Currently, in September it may be a little bit warm to sit outside, but it would be great during summer and winter time. Our waitress Jessica was very professional and familiar with each dish. I was curious and asked many questions, Jessica was very patient and provided us with candid recommendations and details. Finally, we ordered Wood fire beef ribs, Sea of Cortez Halibut, Eggplant "meatballs" and Tempura Squash Blossom, plus desserts. The beef ribs (with french fries) were mouthwatering and so tender --- our kiddos were fighting for them! The Halibut was ok, which was a little bit too salty for us. The eggplant meatball was crunchy outside and savory inside --- excellent combination with mashed potatoes. The Tempura Blossom was a deep-fried veggies combination, with a little bit of sour flavor. My husband gave it a 6 (out of 10) and I gave it an 8. Finally, we ordered 2 different desserts-- Strawberry shortcake was so-so, while the Flourless chocolate cake was awesome. Super rich flavor with homemade ice cream on the side, flourless chocolate cake is highly recommended!
Wow, I was blown away by this great restaurant in Phoenix. It is a very nice place w a lot of indoor & outdoor seating. There were 5 of us & we were seated quickly on a Sat AM. We ordered a bottle of champagne orange juice for mimosas. We had a great avocado toast dish, an awesome arugula salad, a smoked salmon plate, and a great chicken and pancake (not waffles) breakfast. My salmon plate was so tasty w a nice spread that included capers, pickles, onions, peppers, a boiled egg & a very tasty bread. Every plate was beautifully presented & very tasty. This is one of my top 5 places to return to on the regular.
One of the newer styles in restaurant dining these days seems to be the "Farm to Table" concept, which implies fresh, usually locally produced ingredients from the farm or barnyard to the restaurant. The food here reflects that concept with precision with amazingly fresh food, presented without fanfare, by gracious and personable servers. We started with a round of drinks, and right when we were ordering the GM/owner of the restaurant stopped by to greet us. Upon asking what his favorite dish was, he highly recommended ordering the cauliflower dish for appetizer. Some of our favorites were eggplant meatballs, fried cauliflower and ahi tuna. Overall, the restaurant is vegetarian and non-vegetarian friendly. Our party of seven thoroughly enjoyed our meals. It offers great outdoor seating. The bar carries extensive and rare collection of bourbon/scotch, wine and cocktails. Please check out the pictures associated with this review and follow on Insta @ifooditie.
Went to Ocotillo for my birthday and the food was so good! Their menu items change with the season, but I was able to have the clam pasta! We also got the steak, it was great, the baby back ribs were amazing! That SAUCE! Everything we ate and drank was perfect. Made my 31st birthday one to remember
Update!! I went back and had another great breakfast. If you're hungover, get a fresh coconut!! You can get it with the ocotillo breakfast. I had the joy of spending Easter Sunday here. I was unconcerned about the holiday but worried that we didn't have a reservation for brunch on Sunday. No worry! There's lots of outdoor seating, a really great patio with shaded tables. It was a lil cold for me so me and BFF went inside. We wanted to sit at the bar and it was comfortable seating. We ordered drinks, I had coffee and she had a mocktail with an alcohol free spirit. She really liked it. The bartender recommended some great dishes, she had the brisket and I had the breakfast chimichanga. Everything was cooked beautifully and presented well. The portion was good and everything was priced well. I want to go back for dinner and enjoy a full meal with cocktails and dessert. I plan on bringing a date, just have to meet him first. Hopefully, I'll be back soon. The atmosphere is sexy, the service was great and I love independent and local restaurants like this. Well done! Well executed!
Rainy day brunch day was perfect at Ocotillo! The indoor/outdoor space is so rustic and inviting it's like being on vacation. We had spicy bloody marys at the inside bar and then got a table outside, three of us shared 6 items - quiche cauliflower, grilled chicken shwarma, beets, beef rib breakfast, and smoked brisket on polenta. We also had a bottle of nice, dry, cold rose. Everything was great, including the service and the friendly bartenders.
We had date night here last night and had an amazing experience. We ordered the grilled chicken wings as an appetizer, the ribeye and ribs for our entree and dessert. Everything was 10/10! I loved the passion fruit cocktail. Portions were hug and our server was so kind! Thank you guys!
Update: hubby and i returned for sure night. Hubby got the sirloin steak and I got the pappardelle which were absolutely delicious! The pappardelle came with a lamb shanks the size of this hammer and was so tender. For an appetizer we got the chicken wings were delightfully spicy but sweet! ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Hubby and I came for date night and this place is really cool. They have the main dining restaraunt and bar, an open dining patio with misters and outdoor bar. And the a separate bar altogether on the property just for fun. We had the baby back ribs which were equally tender and crispy, a little salty for my pallet but overall they were decent. Hubby got the Ribeye which was as big as my size 8 shoe (no joke) and it came with veggies and a delicious bed of mashed potatoes. I got the parpadelle pasta which is made in house and it was delicious. Perfect amount of spice and savory flavors. We will be back again for sure! Parking itself is on the small side in the actual restaraunt lot but there is plenty of street parking and even a separate dirt lot we parked in.
Ocotillo is a great place to stop in for a nice lunch or dinner! Great food that is actually seasoned and taste delicious!not only is food great but the drinks are unique. They actually know what good food an drinks are. I look forward to their creative spirit and passion with food!
My daughter took me shopping around to check out a few restaurants with the right vibe — great ambience, food, drinks, and customer service — and we found the perfect spot! It’s right off the I-10, right in the center of it all, with amazing drinks, beautiful lighting, and the cutest setup for a holiday party by the fire pit. I can’t wait! I went ahead and booked with Austin — our holiday party is officially happening here! 🎉🔥🍸
We hadn’t been to Ocotillo in Midtown for a while, mostly because we were underwhelmed by the small portion sizes in the past—but we’re so glad we gave it another shot! The menu seems to have shifted a bit, offering a great balance of generous large plates (perfect for sharing) and well-portioned small plates for those of us who didn’t want leftovers. We ordered the charred sweet potato, grilled octopus, mesquite-grilled Ocotillo chicken, and the orecchiette—everything was beautifully prepared and flavorful. Our waitress was super sweet and attentive, which made the evening even better. It was the perfect spot to take friends visiting from Canada for a fun, delicious night out. We’ll definitely be back!
I was taken here by great friends who live in Phoenix who told me it was one of their favorite places in town. They specialize in lots of locally sourced veggies, southwestern influenced preparation and sharing plates. We ordered a lot from the veggie sharing options, and stand outs were the cauliflower, the beets and the brussel sprouts. Service is excellent and the outdoor space is so comfortable and relaxing. Strongly recommend a visit if you want to experience a local favorite.
Ocotillo is a restaurant in the Phoenix area. Parking outside is hit or muss depending how busy it is, but there is some extra street parking if you need it. Inside there's about 3 dozen tables and outside they have at least that plus more, so it's a pretty large place. Their menu isn't massive, but they do really good on the food because of that. Portion sizes are surprisingly big but prices are a bit higher because of it, so it's best to share different stuff here. The service is great, lots of people running around getting you what you need. Overall a great experience though. The ribs were massive and so tender inside, the eggplant meatballs were absolutely amazing. We really didn't have a bad dish.
Great restaurant with great food at a great location. This restaurant is big and in a great location. There is a ton of seating, it is conveniently located and it is very clean and nice. When I got here, the staff were very helpful and friendly and helped me find a seat right away. On their menu, they have a good selection of food at a good price. I ordered the ocotillo breakfast and it had a good amount of food. The hash brown was crispy and flavorful, the eggs were seasoned well and the avocado toast was very flavorful. I would recommend this place for a good breakfast.
We hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner for around 40 people at Ocotillo, and the events team executed everything seamlessly. The ambiance was perfect, the food was delicious, and Steve was incredibly responsive and easy to work with throughout the planning process. The pricing was very fair and offered excellent value for the quality of the experience. Thank you to everyone at Ocotillo for helping make our wedding weekend truly amazing!
I just wanted to take a moment to thank Steve and the amazing staff again for our wedding on Saturday evening. The day went beyond what we could have imagined and exceeded all expectations! Everyone said such great things all through the night and afterwards. So many people told us they are excited to go back for dinner and try it out again- and it will definitely be our anniversary spot moving forward. Everyone was so impressed with how amazing the food was, and how smoothly the entire evening went. I appreciate all the check ins through the evening and just the clear and easy communication throughout the entire planning stages. I felt like I knew exactly what to expect through the entire process and all of my questions were answered so clearly and precisely which took off a lot of the stress of planning. The service was wonderful through the entire evening and I felt completely stress free because I knew we were in good hands. Not to mention- the restaurant itself is so incredibly beautiful in the evening it does not require an extreme amount of decor. Thank you again for everything and we can’t wait to come back for dinner!
We had a wedding rehearsal dinner for 17 people, followed immediately by a welcome party for the bulk of our wedding guests — both hosted by Ocotillo. The meal was delicious, well paced, and served with wonderful options for beer, wine, and cocktails. The reception was a blast! Ocotillo went above and beyond for us, and we always felt that we were in good hands. Special shout out to Steve, the private events director, who was hands on in making sure everything went perfectly. And Danny, thank you for going to the ends of the earth and back for some pickle juice!
What a hidden gem! The atmosphere was beer garden/fine dinning with two bars. One in,the other ouside. Outside dinning as covered with heaters for the chilly nights. Perfect for a casual night with friends or a relaxed date night. Our server, Greg, was perfect for this establishment. Friendly, casual and informative. We both had the Citrus Chicken and it was excellent. The menu has some steaks, pastas, ribs and a fish selection as was as appetizers, salads and deserts. Next time we'll order different plates and split them. The bill for two with an inexpensive bottle of Malbec was $103 without tip. Very reasonable. Parking is somewhat limited. I'm considering ride share next time. Try it at least once. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
An absolutely phenomenal restaurant! The food is spectacular, with the Pappardelle Braised Pork Shank being a 12/10! The staff are personable and truly go out of their way to provide service above and beyond. Special mention to Zack and Danny at the bar, and Austin and Kris, who assisted in retrieving items that were left behind on a prior visit. I will definitely return when my travels bring me back to Phoenix!
So good! Can't wait to try it when the weather is a little warmer to sit on the amazing patio. We ordered a bunch of things and shared family style. Everything we tried at brunch was so good! Try the eggplant meatballs... you won't believe how good they are! Don't skip dessert. Trust me... it's worth every calorie.
Great Central Phoenix gem! The food was excellent with tons of variety for all different pallets. I went with someone who was vegetarian and she found a ton of options. Personally I'm a bit of a carnivore and the wings and ribs were both fabulous! Plus they had a really good chocolate cake that was light and airy. Definitely would recommend this place. PS they have a good happy hour too!
Had an incredible experience here for my birthday a couple nights ago with my family. Our first time dining in and they were able to accommodate us in a different dining area than we had our reservation for. The food was delicious and our server Andrew was so attentive and helpful while still being calm and casual. We had a couple food allergies and appreciated the menu’s clear communication and the staff’s awareness. Everyone loved their appetizers (in particular the chicken wings) and the mole beef ribs were delicious and so tender, a more dynamic flavor and higher quality meat than most bbq which we all appreciated. Andrew went above and beyond for my birthday and I felt really happy to be celebrating there!
Huge restaurant serving huge portions of delicious food. There are numerous places to dine both inside and out with separate bar areas. The cocktails are very good. The baked pasta dish was bit heavy on the hot spice but still delicious. Don't miss out on the eggplant meatballs!
This was a surprise treat! Had a group of colleagues in town for the week and this place was booked for one of our evening dinners. I had never heard of this place and had no preconceived ideas about it. Wow, ambiance and layout really kind of blew me away. Walking through the front it seemed like a nice, fancy restaurant but then we walked through the main floor and out into the yard and the place grew by 10x. Really unexpected but very welcomed as the weather was beautiful to sit outside. There is a separate bar building on the grounds which is also unique. There are even random cats that mosey on through the grounds Great atmosphere. The food. Well the most surprising dish was the eggplant meatballs. They were fantastic and the polenta they were served with was rich and creamy like mashed potatoes but better. I think the group ended up ordering 5 plates of these things. Really a must try! On the other hand, a colleague and I split the ribs for dinner and that left much to desire. First of all, they are huge and make a really great presentation. They look like dinosaur ribs but from there, it kind of falls short. The where charred which can be good but you get a lot of char taste with it which is overpowering. The worst part was the amount of fat on these ribs barely left any meat for you to enjoy. When you did get a bite, it was good but felt there was more picking away the fat than there was time to enjoy the meat. A let down for the price they are charging. Overall, really cool place with unique food options and a great atmosphere. Just make sure the food is cooked well and I would go back again for sure.
We went for a friends birthday and we ordered so many things to share like tapas but we saved room for the end… the ribs were too enticing to pass up! The food presentation was stunning, the flavors were unique and savory, the pate was very strange and I always get that so was disappointed it was bland and not really what I was hoping for. The ribs were pretty tasty but more bone and cartilage than meat. The stand out dish was the burrata and vanilla soaked pears. Delicious! The property itself is lovely, I want to go back and explore the various spaces in the courtyard, I loved feeling like I was transported into a private estate. Dinner section inside was cold because of the open walls so I had to wear a jacket while I ate. Come prepared in the cooler months. Oh lastly the cocktails were very pretty and I heard delicious too. I ordered wine. Generally around $12-15, well priced for the quality of the drinks! HIGHS: expansive beautiful property + unique starters, cocktails were reported to be great LOWS: some starters were more interesting than satisfying.
Great vibe indoors and outdoors, this is a great spot for a date night. We had the prosciutto salad, the chicken, and the beef ribs. I thought everything was delicious and the server was pretty quick. Only knock I have is the portions seem really off. The prosciutto salad barely has any vegetables; not that I am upset because I love prosciutto. The beef ribs can feed 2-3 people, way bigger than I expected. The chicken was the only reasonably portioned dish. All the flavors were excellent and the meats were cooked masterfully. I will need to reference pictures next time to ensure we don't over order again.
Attended with a large group of people. The service was excellent. The appetizers, HARISSA BUTTER GLAZED CARROT and HERBED HUMMUS and GRILLED CHICKEN WINGS were both really good. The entree was unique and full of flavor, PAPPARDELLE, BEEF RAGU with Burrata. The drink, Ginger’s A PEACH, was light and refreshing. The four star is really just about the price. The food and service is a 5 star, but the price is just a little too much for what you’re getting.
If your looking for atmosphere then this is the place. Super nice out doors for pictures. We surprised our family with a pricey dinner here to let everyone know we got married. The food wasn't the best tasting the chicken wasn't cooked all the way. The salmon lacked taste. The jerk chicken wings I was told was good but that's it. Everyone else didn't enjoy the food and that's a bummer since the total bill came out to be almost $500.00! Go for the drinks service was on point and the atmosphere very nice pictures.
Great service...almost too many people checking in but Id rather they care then be ignored. Chef seems really interested in textures. Arugula salad was fresh, vibrant with some fun crunches, cauliflower appetizer was a little salty but the kale pesto cut through it. Pretty good bite! Pasta was on point and plenty of it. Perfectly cooked roasted chicken with a fun sweet and savory flavor. Potato salad was well cooked but very bland. Flourless chocolate dessert had several elements...the cream was delicious, the Gelato was too frozen. Good selection of red wines by the glass and the porter was a great ending to the meal. Also...large portions that can easily be enough for 2.
A unique and very cool place. Very cool setting, ambiance, and vibe. Not ostentatious or too chic, but a fun desert landscape surrounding the main room. Outdoor seating, outdoor bar complete with misters to keep you comfortable. Indoor seating is great too, with large booths and tables. Solid menu options to share as well as main entrees. The scratch sangria, and Yuko Poloma are great to enjoy in the heat. I'll definitely come back. Service was top notch.
What a delightful brunch experience! This charming spot is perfect for enjoying a meal, whether you prefer the cozy indoors or the inviting patio. It's an ideal venue for large gatherings, making it a wonderful choice for celebrations with friends and family.
I love the drinks here! They’re delicious. The food is okay, but if you go you should absolutely get steak. I think it’s the best thing they offer. I had the tagliatelle pasta this time and it was on the menu as a white wine sauce with basil, jalapeno, etc. But it was lacking flavor almost entirely with a side of plain bread.. I wouldn’t get that again. The wings and flautas are decent, but there’s no meat in the flautas and I’m not sure if it’s an option to add it. This is a good place for happy hour if you plan to just do drinks though!
Ambience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The place has an absolutely beautiful ambience and is a huge space as well. There is an option for outdoor seating as well as an indoor seating. The outside seating provides you with a better experience with nice huge picnic tables seating whereas the indoor is more formal. Food ⭐️⭐️ However, we weren’t impressed with the food. We ordered few different things which were good but lacked the WOW factor. 1. Pork chops we ordered were raw and under cooked, we had to send it back. 2. The beef ribs were tasty and the portion size of the dish is massive. 3. The vegetarian options were nice as well. 4. The pastas were a highlight and the best among the lot. 5. Good alcohol options 6. The desserts were good but again did lack that wow factor.
Ocotillo offers a delightful ambiance and decor, creating a perfect setting for a special occasion. The service was attentive and the drinks were excellent, especially the fresa picante. A highlight of the evening was the thoughtful touch of bringing out a lovely dessert for my mom’s birthday, I just wish they would have relit the candle when it blew out on the way to the table. On the downside, the food itself was underwhelming. We tried the pork belly and brisket dishes, and while they weren’t bad, they didn’t quite live up to the rest of the experience. They also didn’t have the medjool dates available as a small dish, which we were very excited to try.
Atmosphere was cool. We ended up going there after visiting the museum. Thought we'd be having lunch but they had a brunch menu. I had the chimichanga, my husband had the flautas. The chimichanga was bland, I was hoping for more spice and flavor. The flautas were more like an appetizer. Tasted better than my meal. Service was decent.
TERRIBLE SERVICE. I’m very sad this was not a good experience. I’ve followed their IG for months and wanted to try their restaurant out. We made reservations for Saturday at 2pm, thinking that it would be busy for their brunch time. The restaurant was practically empty. There were only 4 other tables besides us. Which was fine with us, more for us to enjoy in peace, I thought. The venue was really pretty. We checked in at 2pm, waited 10 minutes to be seated (the restaurant was empty, why the wait?), then we waited at our table for another 15 minutes before a server acknowledged us. We ordered immediately since we’ve been sitting there looking at the menus for a while already. Our server, Angelina, gave us waters and went to get our other drinks, so we thought. There was hair floating in our waters. My sangria was brought out by another server minutes later. The food came out pretty quick. We started eating, checking to see if we saw our server anywhere. My boyfriend’s lemonade was not brought to him until we were almost half way done with our meals. Angelina checked on the two other tables near us 2 times before she came to our table towards the end our meals. Terrible service.
