I've been coming here for decades and though their menu has changed over the years, they still have the same reliably good food. Service is friendly and I like the environment. I didn't go the bar this time but past experiences have been fun there as well. Glad they survived COVID. Parking in the back. Watch your step inside they've got a few awkward bumps and steps throughout the restaurant.
Every item on the menu is great, and the shrimp enchiladas are the best I have ever had. The service is always friendly and attentive. It's hard not to fill up on the chips and salsa before the dinner arrives. I have been going to this restaurant since it opened in 1966, and I have never had a bad meal or a bad time.
Great food good service. Next time in the area going to try more food looks all good from the other tables.
LaPaloma seems to always have good food and service! Even when they are busy the wait is not long and it’s worth it. It’s become our go to after NHRA Races. Always pleased!
Hadn't eaten here since the 1970's, so it was like re-living a special moment from my childhood. Texas Mexican food does not come close to the amazing food at La Palomas. I've missed their food so much!!!
Went here after having a bad experience at a different restaurant. We were seated right away and given drinks and chips and salsa. I had the shrimp enchiladas and my fiancé has the ultimate fajitas. The guac and food there is amazing. It was so good we were blown away. Anthony (the manager) was amazing at making sure everything was okay and taken care of for us. We will definitely be back.
My family has been coming here for literally generations. My grandparents love this restaurant, and that love was passed down through the family. I have been coming here since I was a very small child and the restaurnt is very homey. The food is delicious of course! Definitely give it a try, as this 5 star review represents my entire family.
Our Lunch was authentic Mexican food, with excellent service. My husband ordered a burrito ranchero wet that was great, and I had a bowl of albondigas soup and definitely delish. Homemade fresh hot chips n salsa. Our waitress was sweet and really helpful. Definitely worth coming back to and trying different things.
This is my second time here. I finally came here from the old days of La Paloma in Riverside and San Bernardino. Wow!! The food brought back such good memories. The food tasted the same. I will be back.
Overall, a great local spot. The chips and salsa are great. Meats and sauces are good. Drinks are big and strong, and you pay as such. Not always mixed well, beware. The rice is good, beans are sometimes dry. Takeout is a great option here, but the service is always good.
5ive 5tars for La Paloma, a long-established jewel in Pomona Valley that's still strong and stable serving the community better than ever. At La Paloma, the customer service is as good as the food. They've created an authentic, warm and home-like vibe above the others. My personal favorites from the menu are the albondigas and the chicken enchiladas...so good! Another great thing: their food is just as good or better the next day--a big plus if you don't finish the generous portion in one sitting in their dining room. You are appreciated 100% La Paloma! Thank You for so many years of great service!
Great food and fun atmosphere! Old school restaurant, which is nice. They have delicious salsa and chips. They have a full bar and when its busy you can get a drink while you wait for your table. Service is good and they have nice bathrooms.
Always good Mexican food never had an issue there. Tacos are delicious. Tried carnitas go back for more
La Paloma has great food and a great staff. The interior of the restaurant had been refreshed in recent years, but the service and food quality are great, and relatively unchanged for decades. The salsa is great and the burritos are even better. And don't forget to grab a lollipop on your way out!
Been coming here since 1981. One of the best Mexican restaurants in the area. The combo plates are great and many different choices of beans. Margaritas and wine are great as well. Salsa is awesome as well.
Excellent food! Really can't say enough. Machaca awesome, shrimp enchiladas to die for, taco's are amazing! Server was so sweet and on top of everything!!
Very accommodating...great street tacos and willing to substitute flour tortillas instead of corn. Seems small but the friendly staff made sure it was done to my liking making the meal and experience perfect!
I ate here when I was in grade school in San dimas in the 60's. my lifelong quest for the worlds best taco was started. I can still smell and taste la Paloma taco plate with beans and rice. wish you were not thousands of miles away
Consistently delicious and high quality food. Friendly service! I've been coming here for 45+ years.
Lunch with my son. quality time great conversation enjoying time with my son sitting down and having dinner after church.we like the food. The price can't say my son treats on sunday.good place and safe atmosphere 5 stars good service always checks if thing are going good
My family loooovvveeess this place. The ambiance is old school, low ceiling, padded booths, but the food is delicious, and portions are huge! I highly recommend the gigantic salad with camerones, My hubby gets their burritos smothered in sauce, and my mom loves their quesadillas. Dad loves the chile rellenos. Chips and salsa come free and are plentiful and frequently refilled. Staff is super friendly.
This spot holds such a special place in my heart - I’ve been coming here since I was a baby and my parents and grandparents came long before I was born. My parents & grandparents knew the original owners and the early staff very well - the first time they closed the restaurant to the public was to host the wake after my father’s funeral over 30 years ago. We moved from the area a few years later, but always make a stop at La Paloma whenever we visit Southern California. I’ve lived on both coasts and in the Rockies and this is still my favorite Mexican restaurant of all.
I've loved this place for over 40 years and try to visit every time I'm back in town. Booths are comfy, service is great, food is terrific!
Lived here for 15 years and have never ate here. Service was great. Our server Jojo was so helpful and communicative. Super positive throughout the meal. Guac was really good. Salsa was solid. Enchiladas were delicious. Santa Fe salad was bomb. This was a really good Mexican meal in La Verne.
Food is great. Definitely recommend any food item that has suiza sauce...Shrimp Enchiladas or Spinach Mushroom Enchiladas. Family owned restaurant for over 50 years and makes you feel like family. Margaritas are excellent. Best chips & salsa!! They are closed on Mondays.
Reasonably priced food at a historic location. Our server was excellent and knowledgeable. Beer is exceptionally cheap here. The setting is more of a family style, so not recommended of you are looking for a more quiet, intimate location. Food was above average, and for the price very acceptable. 9/10 would eat again.
It is a nice restaurant on the border of La Verne and Pomona. I have been here, once, at the beginning of October 2022. I visited this establishment, while leaving my work. The meal, that I have ordered, was delicious. It was a carne asada burrito. Furthermore, they have a good selection of margaritas. There was ample of space to sit down, and enjoy the meal. The place itself was neat. At the same time, the waiter was friendly, helpful, and attentive. The prices, too, were fair. I have spent around $30.00. So, if anyone enjoys Mexican cuisine, I would recommend to stop by this restaurant.
1st time here. Authentic Mexican food with a family friendly atmosphere! Great food. Great service!
Great Mexican restaurant with great tasting food, variety menu, good drinks, tasty n spicy salsa n warm tortilla chips, and good service. This place has been around for more than 40 years. You need to go there and see for yourself what they keep doing right and how they have lasted this long.
I have been eating at La Paloma since they first opened in La Verne. They never cease to impress. They have the best food and atmosphere I have ever experienced! Bar none. I hope they will be here forever!
Had the ground beef taco/Cheese enchilada combination plate. Enchilada sauce was delicious and they actually flavor the ground beef! Tavo wasn't Hella greasy either so that was appreciated. Service is spectacular, and everything came out fast and hot!
This is the best Mexican food within a 50 mile radius .... I highly recommend, great service to go along with amazing food.
We have been coming here for 20+ years and it’s my wife’s favorite place. I got the Burrito Ranchero, carnitas (pork), beans and sour cream. No “nasty” fat or anything else, all good. Red and green salsas are great. Good service provided, which is always appreciated. We recommend this restaurant as a good local place, a La Verne icon.
I saw this restaurant one day while working and thought that place looks good. I finally got a chance to take my wife on date night and went. The food is so good the shredded beef taco was amazing as well as the cheese enchiladas so much cheese. I had the Cadillac margarita my wife had the cucumber jalapeño margarita they were both great. The staff was super friendly and fun. They also have what looks to be a great bar at one end of the restaurant we checked it out but didn't have time for a drink . The restaurant portion was in my opinion a little to bright I would like it to be a little darker. We will definitely be back
Amazing shredded beef taco, cheese enchilada, chips and salsa, and service.
The service was amazing, and the food, especially the flautas, were even better!!😋 the only thing I won't be getting again here is the margaritas. I don't know if it was the margarita mix itself or possibly if it was a very cheap tequila that was used, but it was less than desirable. I took 3 drinks, and that's all I could force myself to get down. But besides that this place is so good!!
Excellent experience. Great food great servicd
Went here the other night. Everyone was very friendly and the drinks are pretty good. Definitely get what you pay for! The food was really good, especially the wings. I'm surprised just as much as anyone else is!! We had to move tables because there were some rowdy people near us but Brian was super accommodating and came back to make sure we satisfied with our new table. Give that guy a raise! Would for sure come back🙂.
We love LA Paloma. The food is excellent. It always comes out fast and hot. The servers are fantastic. They are attentive and refill salsa, chips and drinks before we even have to ask. It is much larger on the inside then it looks. There enchilada sauce is the best I've ever had. My husband loves there rice it's moist and delicious.
Always top notch service and food. I grew up in Pomona and whenever I'm back in the area, this is one of my go-to places. Ordered to-go and forgot to request the tacos in my combination plate be wrapped separately from the beans and rice, only to find they'd already done it, as well as tossing in a bunch of chips and a half pint of their delicious salsa. Thank you La Paloma!
I have never had a more delicious chimichanga. And the nachos geez you better have a couple of people. I can see how they been around so long.
The chips and salsa are the best out of any restaurant I have been to in the I.E. area. I havent had a meal there yet that i havent liked, great food. The staff is very attentive. Jacob has been our waiter a few times and is absolutely wonderful.
All is can say is Wow. My Grandma has been coming here for a while and use to come here weekly. She said she was craving their Chile Verde so we came. I had the 2 taco plate, normally I would of ordered 3 but she mentioned the plates were big and she wasn't kidding! It was soo good I almost forgot to take a picture! We will be back forsure! Service was great as well. The parking was easy as well.
One of my favorite mexican food spots in the area. Love the crispy taco and cheese enchilada plate. There’s something special about their beans. The cheesy and crispy loaded nachos with shredded beef is also a favorite, (big enough to share) a must try paired with one of their spicy jalapeno margaritas on the rocks. Delicious!
This was our first time here, our good friends who are expecting their first child had their baby shower here. The atmosphere is great so is there decor. Nice family restaurant from the photos, our friend Dave who has been coming here for over 30yrs. Drinks are great and the chips are nice hot when presenting them to your table, salsa very good tasting. Service was great our waiter (didn't get his name) was very attentive to our needs and there were about 15+ people at the baby shower. Food is outstanding, they are not shy with the portions. When I was going to physical therapy down the street I would pass by here and wanted to stop but time didn't allow it. Glad our friends had there event here. Very pleased with everything and my wife and I will be back...oh the prices are very reasonable...
I haven't been here in years, but it's exactly how I remembered it! We had a very kind, attentive server who promptly served our cocktails and food. Ordering margaritas by the pitcher is a great deal!
This was my first time dining here, and it was a nice experience! Chips and salsas were on the house. I ordered two chicken crunchy tacos with bean and rice. They were delicious, and the portions made us fulfilled. There's a bar, but it was very dark. Highly recommend this place if you like Mexican food.
Been a very long time since our last visit. Going to La Paloma was like going to a good friends house for dinner. Great food, no waiting for a table. A bit loud but not enough to annoy. Food great as always. Kitchen Sink Burrito is enough for 3 meals, Camarones, my wife's favorite and Concha Salad were all well received. And the bill was actually less than I expected.
Located on historic route 66. The menu is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. The portions are pretty big and the food tastes great. I got the fish tacos and my boyfriend got the ranchero burrito. The fish tasted fresh and flavorful. One thing though is after we ate here we both had stomach discomfort for the rest of the day, which could be because we are not used to the richness of the food, so I'd tell people who have sensitive digestion, don't overdo it. They also serve you chips and fresh salsa and will refill it too. The salsa is really good and has fresh herbs. They also serve really good beers that you cant find everywhere (we checked beer advocate ratings). The decor isn't too crazy and is somewhere between casual and classy. Finally, this a great place to have good Mexican food.
good food, reasonable service, but be aware there is around a $3 extra charge if/when you pay with a CC. this fee is not stated anywhere and is not shown as a line item in their receipt. the fee is also far in excess of what the banks charge merchants for CC transactions. our group of 6 threw an extra $9 to management this way. we missed noting it until we got home.
Love the atmosphere of this restaurant. Very cozy and homey feeling. There is a fireplace that adds to the warmth of this restaurant. Lots of employees to keep the chips and salsa coming out fast. The food was nice and hot. Chips come out piping hot. The salsa is delicious. I got the combo plate and the ground beef taco was so good. The enchilada sauce on the enchilada was kind of gross. The chili relleno was yummy. Rice and beans were very good as well. We got a pizzadilla for the appetizer and that was very good as well. I definitely recommend trying out this restaurant.
My salad with grilled fish added was delicious and not huge. My companions' orders were ridiculously enormous, a waste of food. Would have been nice to have a few options for hot tea flavors. Service was pretty good. Chips and salsa were tasty. Do not like the huge tables making getting into the booths tight. If you are very pregnant or otherwise large around the middle or have trouble bending/sliding, probably easier and comfier to get a table then a booth. Appreciate the history. There is a geocache out back (was likely missing so I didn't go look for it) and the restaurant itself is an adventure lab stop, so that's added incentive to go there (not why I went - was with family who've been eating there for 40 years). Small parking lot out back. Sometimes you can snag a spot on the street, right in front of the door, which is great if you're traveling with someone with mobility issues but that makes it a little tricky for the driver to get out (restaurant is on a very busy road).
We have lived in the area for 5 years and noticed this place is always crowded. Now we know why. This is a big place and even through the parking lot was packed, we still had no wait for put table for 2. The chips are fresh and warm when they come out. The service was friendly and prompt, and while prices are not as low as some places, the amount of food you get for what you pay is impressive. Would recommend this place and we will be back ourselves.
Old school Mexican American restaurant, with food made the way it has been for decades... not 100% authentic Mexican food, but Americanized in a good way. Reasonable prices, good service and friendly staff. Accessibility: Both the front (street) and rear (parking lot, near the accessible parking) entrances are wheelchair accessible... have heavy doors. The rear entrance has a slight exterior ramp.
I had not gone back in over a year because I was not happy with a plate that I got and I decided to go back because my mother wanted to go. And it was like a 180 turn around the food was good flavorful and I enjoyed it I'm always willing to give a business a second chance as long as they improve and they did. Had a little talk with the owner she was grateful that I gave her a compliment I will go back again
came here randomly as I was working near by and man was this a good pick. chips were nice and hot when they came out as well as the food. the shrimp enchiladas were fire as well as the Asada enchiladas, but I must say the the shrimp enchiladas are the best of the 2. my servers were really nice as well would definitely try again.
This is my first time going to La Paloma. The atmosphere was great, the service was great, but their food was bland and their menu is limited. La Paloma offers the very basics in Mexican food. I'm good with the limited choices but not with the bland food. It is a very popular restaurant and it looks like they have their regulars that go their often.
I have driven by La Paloma for 15+ years and it always appears crowded so I finally decided to check it out on a busy Friday night. Service was outstanding! It was truly great considering how busy it was. The salsa that comes with the chips is excellent. The best around! The margarita was probably the worst I've had from a Mexican restaurant and overpriced too. Tostada was just okay. I personally like quesadillas because it's not something easy to screw up but I didn't want to pay around $14 so instead I split steak fajitas with wife. We were both unimpressed. Out of the five or so dine in Mexican restaurants we go to this would be ranked at the bottom for drinks, for food, and for the higher prices which are 20 to 40% higher than other Mexican restaurants.
We went for the 1st time. The food was good. But the service was terrible. Our waitress took our order and brought out drinks. But then, she never came back. Some one else brought the food. No one came to check on us. No refills. No one brought the check. We had to go to the entrance and ask for the check. We told the person upfront of the poor service. He did not comment. Just took our payment. I don't think we will ever go bsck.
It pains me me to give this restaurant a less than stellar review because my family have been going there for decades. Our party of 8 were somewhat disappointed by the service. The server seemed less than thrilled having to work our table (one of only a few at that time of day) and some of the orders were not up to the quality we were used to.
I was there on Saturday 2/21/2026. I had been there several times before and the food was REALLY REALLY GOOD. Unfortunately, They must have changed cooks bcz it was definitely a miss this time. I took one bite of my chicken enchilada and wanted to spit it out. Rice and beans was NOT good either. On the other hand, my Taquitos were ok and the Salsa and chips were Really Good. Jose (our server)was AMAZING. Thanks Jose. My husband said, on a scale of 1-10. His Carna Sada Burrito was a 5. We do not plan to return anytime soon. Sorry to say.
Food was ok. Just average basic mexican food with bland flavor. Service was ok. Waited a bit for the check and when we finally got it we had to wait even more for thr waiter to come back and take our cards to pay
Been coming here for over half a lifetime. I felt so disappointed & sad having returned here after a few years. Service & atmosphere are still good but the food has really gone downhill. Everything tasted like leftovers warmed in the microwave. Beans & rice were dehydrated & the chicken enchiladas both tasted & smelled like old chicken noodle soup. Even the shedded beef seemed precooked & reheated. What a waste of hard earned dollars. I will never go back. Gordon Ramsay really needs to step in.
Sadly they don't prevent pet owners from bringing their dogs inside the dining area. While I really enjoy this restaurant, I can't eat dinner around people's dogs so unfortunately I can't visit this restaurant again. :::Response to restaurant reply::: Happily, I can report to you that you ARE allowed, by law, to inquire with two questions. Neither of which is "is that a service animal?" 1.) Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? AND 2.) What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Ask and you'll get less animal traffic and my family will come to your restaurant again.
Pros: No wait on Father’s Day Very accommodating for large party Good, friendly service Chicken taquitos with rice and beans one item combination plate was super tasty Cons: Carne asada in the burrito was mostly fat and chewy meat (not edible) Charged for each salsa verde requested Can’t say I’d come back, but it was good to try once.
Our server and busboy were great, however, when I went to pay they gave me the wrong ticket, a much lower amount. I decided to be honest and tell them. They then decided to charge me more than full amount until I had to say something again. Brian, was rude and and said , oh sorry. That's it. No good deed goes unpunished! Will not be going back. They said it will take a few business days to get my money back from three different transactions. Awesome. Doesn't pay to be honest I guess. Thanks Brian.
I was excited that evening because my nephew’s graduation was on June 8th at Bonita HS. After reading the good reviews at this restaurant my sister and I decided to eat here. I decided to eat the special the taco, beans and rice. Also I ordered a drink. I gave the waiter $7.20 tip. The next day in my checking acct. there was a debit of $720.00 dollars. So I spoke to the owner Cindy and she made it sound it was not a big deal. Next week you should see it clear on the checking account. For the inconveniences should Cindy reverse the food tab? What happened to good old customer service.
This place used to be my favorite. I moved and have been waiting 6 years to come back for the chimichanga. The food has gone so far down hill here that's not even edible. My husband was served rotten pico and the beef in my chimichanga had turned. They did take both meals off the bill but there's zero excuse to serve rotten food.
Haven't been to La Paloma in 7 years and was looking forward to it. Things have definitely gone downhill. The pico smelled and tastes like it was fermented. The carne asada tasted like ground beef.
This place has gone so downhill over the last year. Service is horrible. You get main meal before salads. Chips taste like bag bought, not homemade. Drink service if you can flag someone competent down. There is only one competent person working at any time. Usually you are ignored till it’s bill time. Most of the staff just hangs around the front desk chatting and doing nothing. Just go to Casa Sanchez over in Ontario off Mountain. 5 star service, better food, flavor not too different.
This is definitely not authentic Mexican food! Went there with my husband and two daughters, the service was horrible! Waited at the front to be seated and not one person asks if we have been helped they just keep dealing with paying customers! Then once seated it took forever for someone to take our order, After we got our food nobody checked to see if we needed anything else or… refills on drinks. Food was edible but by no means what I expected! Then waited forever to pay, everyone walks by never asking if we need help! No, we just like standing around!!!!! Definitely never coming back and telling everyone we know not to either!
It's been a while since I visited this restaurant .. I was disappointed that the menu had been changed for the worst.. the steak smothered in mole had been removed from the menu, as well as others. The menu had been cut down. The bathroom is dirty.had not kept clean. Left over food not swept up from under the tables. Will not be going back... waste of money ,and time....
My sister order a green enchilada, the server served the enchilada platter it was two red enchiladas, my sister told the server, I ordered one green enchilada, she took it back and later came back with a plate with green enchiladas, the cook had poured green sauce over the red enchiladas, and my sister told the server again, this is red enchiladas with green sauce over them, the plate was taken once again, then at the third time they finally got the order, I ordered the tostada with shredded beef and beans it looked good, but after tasting it the shredded beef tasted like it came out of a can. This meal was very disappointing.
My family and I visited this restaurant in La Verne. We went right after my Wife’s Grandma’s funeral service. Honestly it was the MOST disgusting Mexican food we have ever eaten. I am not over exaggerating either. The food was tasteless, cold, and looked like it had been microwaved. It was extremely disappointing and a waste of money. You are better off cooking at home than actually paying for this trash food. I will NOT be returning ever again and I DO NOT recommend this place to ANYONE. p.s. Food might look decent in the pics but believe me it was tasteless bland and disgusting.
