Recensioni di Samuel's Rhinebeck
All experiences I have had with Samuel's staff have been wonderful. They have gone above and beyond multiple times and have excellent customer service. During my visit a couple of weeks ago, they recommended to me what candy that they would think I would like based on my fave actor's tastes so I decided to give it a try. I ended up buying the chocolate sweedish fish, the blue raspberry sour lace and the rainbow lace. While the candy is a little pricey, it is definitely high quality and worth it. Sweedish fish have been one of my fave candies when growing up so to see they have a chocolate covered one was a must have for me since I haven't heard of being able to get the chocolate covered kind anywhere. After my wonderful experience visiting, I decided to order more candy a week later (I got glued to the sweedish fish and the rainbow laces) to which the candy arrived well packed. The only issue I had was I was sent the wrong item by mistake. (I got sour strawberry laces instead of rainbow lace) When I called to see how this issue could be fixed due to living out of state, I was told to keep the laces they sent by mistake and they would send me the correct item (which they did, it was also well packed and arrived here pretty quick.) The staff are super nice and very knowledgable about their candies when you ask about them. They definitely made a new customer for sure. I will be going back and visiting the place in the future due to their high quality candies and excellent customer service!
Adorable sweet shop. Small town charm. Cocoa Krispie treat is delicious. Truffles were good, but personally doesn’t beat Krauses.
The crumb cake was delicious! The truffles were amazing and the people working there were friendly and fun! So glad we stopped in!
I could not wait to try Samuel's Sweet Shop. I ordered a sampler that included chocolate covered Oreos with peanut butter, butter-crunch (my favorite), and chocolate covered peanuts—one word for all— delicious! The butter-crunch may be the best I've ever tasted. The Oreos didn't stand a chance and were gone lickety-split, and the chocolate covered peanuts are so good. Everything was packaged beautifully. I will definitely order again, and again, especially for a gift knowing everything will be scrumptious!
I love Samuels! The shop itself reminds me of the corner store from my childhood - lots of candy that I enjoyed as a kid. I ordered a few gift boxes and they were perfect - each box filled with homemade chocolate, tied with blue ribbon with matching tissue paper in the bags. John made ordering easy and helped with the selection. I've been in the shop a few times and the employees are always helpful and friendly. I highly recommend visiting Samuels if you're going to Rhinebeck.
I made the stop as a fan of TWD and was quite taken by the charming town. The candy store is wonderful! I found many fun treats. The staff was so very helpful and friendly too! I'm so glad I took the time to stop in!
We were in New York Hype Park visiting family we are from Tennessee and they brought us to the amazing beautiful candy store. It is so amazing we loved it bought us some candy and checked things out. The best dark chocolate peanut butter cup oh the rice Krispy treat we just loved this little candy store. Was hoping to meet Paul Rudd and other owners. But wasn't our lucky day. But I love this candy shop has that old timey feeling. Can't wait to come visit again.i wanted to post my pictures but I'm don't know how. Lol. But our favorite store.
Friendly staff, and just enough sweet stuff to make it worth the trip to go over and see it. I would not describe the Sweet Shop as small I would rather say that it's cozy. Well lit easy to find right in the main part of town on Main Street. It is definitely some place that you should stop and say to fill the hole in your sweet tooth. Plus the fact that Paul Rudd and Jeffrey Dean Morgan on it makes it even cooler to stop at.
A little on the pricey side, but it is the cutest candy wonderland. I love the idea of a stand alone sweet shop. It's right on theme with the whole town of being a cute nostalgic storybook place. The shop is very tiny, but there is a great selection of candy, baked goods, and drinks.
Great coffee, great service, great prices, charming little store, and you can even get a latte! If you like candy, this place is like heaven because they have everything imaginable and it's in a cute, retro setting with all kinds of treats in jars. There also have delicious cookies and muffins. I had a spinach and feta croissant that was heavenly. Highly recommend this place. And Rhinebeck itself is so lovely.
I once tried to come in after closing time and they only opened when i said:”Little pig little pig,let me in.” I loved it
Very cool sweets from this store, I ordered the Jeffrey Dean Morgan special, the selection looked great (and he's such a cool guy I had to try it😀). All the stuff is high quality and tasty, most especially the chocolate bark and the monster sized rice crispy treat (which I couldn't open my mouth wide enough to take a full bite of it). A funny thing and a suggestion: the rice crispy treat had Jeffreys grinning face on one side of the wrapper, and that happened to be the side with the marshmallow layer - and the only way I could remove it was by peeling his face off with a fork a little bit at a time, which is exactly what I wanted to do to Negan on The Walking Dead - so if you're out of state like me and place an order, pay to have it shipped on ice, which was strongly recommended but I opted not to pay for that. Anyway, it's a great shop and I highly recommend it. Oh, and I forgot to mention the shipping was quite prompt.
I adore the candy shop vibe here at Samuel’s and the baked goods and chocolates are delectable! They have coffee and hot/cold drinks on the menu as well. Honorable mention to that perfeeccccttt coffee cake that I think of most days. Lovely, friendly counter service- where they are always willing to recommend or answer questions. I always stop in when I’m around Rhinebeck and I’m never disappointed!
the temptation to eat jeffrey deans face for glenn was strong, i second that 😂 also wanted to eat peyton’s face 🫶🏼 salted caramel coffee was great! very crowded but patience gave me time to look around. fun atmosphere and the staff were so chill. lots of candy and unique items to choose from. bag pipe music outside was entertaining. cute street to hang around outside.
It's an "old-timey" candy store plus. Excellent variety, very helpful staff. One or two individual pieces of candy for dessert after walking off lunch, plus a bag of goodies from Samuel's to take home to share with the family are a great way to wrap up a day in Rhinebeck.
Cute, quaint and delicious. Specialty candies are a blast and the old school candies are a blast from the past! The frozen drinks are blazingly good. I didn't get to see any superheroes that day but that's the fun of visiting. It's all a chance. Still worth the trip though.
This is a great little candy store & has a great selection!! The staff was very friendly & helpful, we will definitely return!! Also it has a great back story u should look into!!
My BFF and I take Sunday adventures and today it took us to Samuel’s sweet shop. We were welcomed with great energy by to lovely young ladies. (Whom had the best character of all the stores we visited) Enjoyed our beverages and a little throw back seeing some of the candies from back in the day. Thanks for a great adventure destination!!
All the treats here are so delicious! I came to experience a moment I've only read about in The Rural Diaries, but I came back (several times) because I couldn't get enough of all the goodies they offered! Willy Wonka would be proud.
Great nostalgic place. Chocolate is amazing!
Amazing... no Jeffery Dean Morgan was not there...but he does go to the shop alot. So one day I'll run into him. Love all the old-school candy and their pb cup is the size of your hand... love it!
I live out of state so I cannot speak on atmosphere, however I have ordered from Samuel's before and everything I have gotten has been amazing. I am particularly fond of the coconut curry cashews (and I hate coconut AND curry if that tells you anything)! The customer service is fantastic and always responsive. I can't wait for an opportunity to visit in person because I know they carry so much more than what is on their website. Wonderful company!
We have used Samuel's the last few years for end of year corporate gifts for our customers. John is very easy to work with and makes the process super simple for us! We always get a ton of complements from our clients about the assortments put together.
Update: We have been getting the monthly subscription boxes for over 3 years now and we look forward to them every month. Each box is packed with such care and in summer months they include ice packs to keep anything from melting. We love Samuel's Sweet Shop! Just got our first subscription box as a gift from my mom & it's amazing!! A rice crispy cake with JDM's face? Yummy on multiple levels!! Everything is perfection! Looking forward to the next box!
Visited for the novelty of it and didn't have very high expectations and figured it would be pricey. Welll, turns out its worth every freaking penny and the coffee was absolutely delicious!! I'm sad I'm not local enough to visit more often! The best part was probably the entire staff- they clearly were going non stop alllll day long and you'd never know it from their happy and helpful demeanor. 10/10 definitely recommend!
Great coffee, yummy pastries and an incredible candy selection; a perfect mix of retro-fun candy options, novelty items and hand-dipped specialties. It's our go-to for the coffee beans we use at home, too. 💗 The friendly and helpful staff make Samuel's a local gem in Rhinebeck! ~Becky Tyre, Retail Details
I've been shopping here long before famous people bought the place. Since the change in ownership, little has changed though, and it remains an awesome place. The selection of candy is crazy, and they offer so much more. Try some of the baked goods they carry from Matchbox Cafe. Samuel's has the best coffee in town. The staff has always been fantastic. I've never had a bad time here.
It was very crowded when my family and I stopped by but the variety of chocolates made the stop worth it. I wanted to buy everything off the shelves that's how mouth-watering they were lol. Will gladly stop here again when I'm in the area.
The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming! I got these donut brownie things that were amazing. Store is tiny but we went at an odd time so nobody was inside.
This is a great little candy shop, and I'm not joking about it's size. It's barely 8 feet wide and guests squeeze on by each other trying to order and pay. The staff are always friendly and they have candy or coffee options anyone can enjoy. I always leave with more than I plan to buy. It all too good.
I was looking for a sweet shop that had Raspberry fudge and I found it here! I wound up buying a lot more than I was looking for, simply because there’s a LARGE variety to choose from. The store is clean, the fudge is good, the girl at the counter (Taylor) is THE SWEETEST (sweeter than the candy!) I had a nice conversation with her and she recommended a bunch of places in the town to go to as a Newbie here :) thank you, Taylor!!! Editing this 8-months later!! Returned back and met MORGAN! She’s the best; so sweet and helpful. Samuel’s is THE place to go to!
Immaculate Vibes™ at Samuel's Sweet Shop in Rhinebeck! My boyfriend and I visited on Saturday morning and got some really delicious lattes and a few other items! Of course the candy is the main attraction but they had a lot of locally made products and I'm most excited to try the Tree Juice syrup that we purchased!
I live out of state, but this is one of my favorite candy stores. I went the first time due to the novelty of visiting a store owned by Paul Rudd, but every other time has been out of a real fondness for the shop and their products. The staff is really nice and helpful without being obtrusive or pushy, and there's never a long line to wait in (although I go at non peak times). I like their vintage candy selection as well as their unique cookies and jams, and their coffee is great and priced well. The last time I was in New York, I stayed in Rhinebeck and went every day that I was in town to either get coffee or gifts for people. I'm back home at work now eating the last of the caramels I bought on my trip and I'll be really sad when they're gone. I definitely recommend stopping by Samuel's if you're in the area. There's plenty of municipal parking, and one of the free lots is right across the street. ETA: since writing this I moved to the area and this shop remains my favorite business in the area ❤️ the staff are really sweet!
After reading Hillarie's "Rural Diaries" we knew we had to make a stop in Rhinebeck, NY. She mentioned so many beautiful things about this place that we wanted to experience it first-hand. Of course making a stop at Samuel's Sweet Shop was a must! Being enthusiasts of her book and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in TWD universe, we were hoping to stumble upon them but alas not this time! One thing that really surprised us were the Haribo from Germany, which you rarely find here! A beautiful rustic sweet shop in a gorgeous part of New York.
Quaint coffee shop located in Rhinebeck, best known to be part owned by Paul Rudd. This small shop has a variety of candy, chocolate, snacks and coffee, in addition to nostalgic products. Great for a quick stop, although pricing is quite expensive
I love this place. It's a mixed vibe of cornerstore childhood penny candy and chocolate boutique. Paul Rudd and Jeffrey Dean Morgan did the community a solid keeping this place alive.
Absolutely adorable little shop! Being from out of state I purchased way too much, but I had to. It's all been delicious! While the clodhoppers don't make me angry, they are mindblowingly incredible!
Lovely store. Nice selection. Very pricey.
this place has the best hot chocolate and any kind of sweet you want. Sometimes there's a wait... and depending on what person serves you sometimes the drinks can be hit or miss but most of the time if you clearly request what you want, you get it. Definitely recommend stopping in on a cold day and get yourself a nice warm drink with a cookie. :)
Such a quaint little old style sweet shop with friendly staff. Love when I get to come across the pond and visit here!
What an adorable little gem we stumbled upon while strolling through this charming town! The young ladies who worked there were pleasant & handled our order of 25 hot chocolates like pros! The candy was fresh and so much to choose from. The novelties were adorable. If you are in the area give this place a try!
What a great little candy and sweet shop. We stopped in and got a couple of cookies for an afternoon snack. They were excellent. I look forward to my next visit try some of the different option that they have.
Came here for a coffee and some sweet treats for the kids. It was busy but the 3 people behind the counter got the line moving quickly. The truffle candy was delicious. The coffee was strong and was ready quickly. The mango smoothies took some time as they’re freshly blended. Kids loved them!
Love Sammy’s - cute sweatshop with an array of great gifts and Rhinebeck’s cutest t shirts! Hot chocolate was mid, and keep in mind prices are reasonably high, but would still recommend!
Sweet Nostalgia with a Celebrity Twist We stopped by Samuel’s Sweet Shop partly because we’re fans of Paul and Jeffrey. It’s a charming little candy shop with a lot of heart. We picked up some rice krispy treats (we really didn't want to eat their faces, but we held off as long as we could) and chocolate (including clodhoppers and the Samuel's Bar). Didn't get a chance to try as much as we wanted. Some of the candy is the kind you can find elsewhere, but that's ok. Nostalgia in a small-town —plus the added fun of knowing who’s behind it. Support your local candy shop. Keep the hope alive!
We’ve been a few times and always encountered a clean, bright store and friendly staff. My favorite is the cara -marsh. I think that’s what it’s called. But it’s a homemade marshmallow covered in caramel. It’s about $3 for 1 so not cheap but the goodies there are meant as once in a while type treats based on their richness. Would love to see the addition of homemade fudge in the future.
Excellent little sweet shop. So we bought an assortment of goodies from homemade chocolate covered oreos, homemade peanutbutter chocolate cups, hot chocolate, sugar babies, homemade apple turnover, gummies- yes, we are fat kids at heart. Proud of it, too. So if you enjoy sweets, this is the place to go. They also offer some cooking sauces, which I will be returning to pick up soon! My party and I highly recommend this shop!!
When my partner and I planned a trip to Rhinebeck for her birthday, Samuels was a big part of the reason we wanted to make the 1.5 hour drive up from southern Westchester. As fans of sweets and JDM it seemed like a perfect fit. Samuels did not disappoint, we took advantage of the extensive hours, stopping by for coffee and snacks after dinner. The store is extremally charming as expected. What we didn't know the expect was the coffee which was fantastic! The sweets were delicious, but I think we will most remember the coffee..
Very cute shop with lots of commercial chocolates and candies not quite the same as you'd find at the Arlington or Bennington chocolate shops where everything's homemade but a very cute shop and worth a visit
Deceptively smaller than photos make it look. The young employee behind the counter was courteous and made me a delicious cappuccino- I had to buy one of the bags of the Bedford coffee they sell as it was so delicious. Also got a scone which was yummy- decent prices for both in comparison to where I'm from in SC. A little annoyed we had to go outside in freezing snow to enjoy our treats, though- many places have relaxed the mask ordinances and it's unfortunate they haven't too. The candy is a little overpriced, but it's a famous little shop now so I understand. After drinking coffee in the snow storm, we went back and got our niece and nephew some fun candy we'd never seen before and some of our old favorites we haven't found elsewhere. I'd return if I find myself in Rhinebeck again.
LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PLACE! Great coffee, sweets, treats and more. All made and served with love. HOWEVER THEY USE PLASTIC! Boo! Famous and local establishments like this need to lead by example. Too many excellent, non harmful plastic alternatives out there now. Shame on you. Hopefully this wakes some people up. I see these plastic containers every day in our lakes and oceans and washing up on our beaches.
This was a cute little stop. The staff is very nice and the coffee was great. It is pretty overpriced for what you’re getting otherwise though, but I guess that’s just what celebrities do when they own tiny businesses.
Visited Samuels Sweet Shop for the 1st time today! It’s a very cute and quaint shop with a great selection of candy and other goodies. The staff working was very attentive, extremely personable and super friendly! The coffee was delicious and the truffles…soooooo good! Of course I snagged a Samuels Bar and the obligatory Paul Rudd Rice Krispie treat….which is massive. Great experience! Will definitely stop in again!
First time there! Absolutely loved it! So many different Candy and pastries as well as coffees. it's a definite must go to if you are visiting the area as well as you live locally
Bring a spoon if you're asking for a smoothie in November. A straw won't get the job done. Great taste, and my wife loved her coffee 👍
Samuel’s sweet shop was such a fun stop. Of course when we found out it’s co-owned by Paul Rudd, Hilarie Burton Morgan, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan it was a must stop for us while in the area! It’s a cute tiny store and the girl at the register was pretty friendly. They had a large variety of chocolates and candies. We picked a few nostalgic candies and a few things we’ve never tried before. The fruit stripes were just a good and short lasting as I remembered :p. We also tried the milk chocolate pb cups, chocolate covered Oreos, and coconut cluster type candy. Everything was so good! It’s definitely overpriced but it was a fun one time experience. Oh, and the coffee was delicious!
Tasty but pricey truffles. It was a popular spot and navigating the crowd can be overwhelming in the small space they have. It is nicely decorated and has tons of variety in the sweets they offer!
The products were varied and there was a good selection, but for less than 1/4 lb of mint creams in a twisted cello minibag, 3, 5 stick packs of gum, wax lips, a candy necklaces and bracelet and 4 mini wax " pop" bottles in a pkg and one oatmeal raisin cookie, I felt $32. was way over the price it should have been to make an honest profit. Doesn't matter if it's celebrity owned or not.
We traveled from Sussex county NJ to visit and loved it here ! Of course we went because of the owners but we got some amazing chocolates ! The place was clean and very nice for a smaller space! Unfortunately it was so crowded and the employees were not very kind . They seem very annoyed that it was so crowded. I spent a large amount of money on candy and shirts but wish it was a better experience with the workers.
VERY small quaint store. Sold some home made goods that were very interesting and then some candies you could find at a drug store or gas station at a larger quantity for the price point they were selling at. Looked their coffee was EXTREMELY popular and what most people come for.
Seems like a really nice quaint shop, but my experience was horrible. The kid at the counter doesn't seem to care about customers and doesn't know how to make coffee drinks. Most of the items here are packaged and prepared chocolates which look great and I'm sure are good gifts. But I probably won't ever come back due to just how bad the iced laté was and the rudeness of the employee.
Store is incredibly small and hard to browse. Nothing was labelled so you had to pick up each item to see what it was. Unfortunately the chocolates I chose were gross (sea salt caramels). The man working there was also maybe the loudest human I’ve ever encountered.
Don’t get me wrong I stopped in once and while it is an awesome place I do believe a location with more room for people to move around would be great just looking out for the claustrophobic community.
Super cute place- was so excited to pop in. Tried a few different candies and they were all really good, although expensive. What ruined it for us, though, was the staff. They welcomed us in and we’re nice enough while checking out, but the entire time we were browsing they were having a conversation about how awful the Midwest is, even going as far to say that “nobody with an ounce of ambition lives in Indiana”. Oof. We were visiting from the Midwest, so we definitely didn’t feel very welcomed there. The conversation went on for the entire 10 or so minutes we were in there, just absolutely ragging on every little thing about the Midwest. They knew we were in earshot (the shop is super small) and seemed to be doing it on purpose- my boyfriend was wearing a shirt from the town we’re from. Although the candy was good and we are huge Paul Rudd fans, the store left a bad taste in our mouths.
