Sushi Sake is highly praised for its fresh, authentic sushi and Japanese ambiance, often compared to dining in Tokyo. The service is generally excellent, though can be slow when busy. The restaurant is considered ideal for dates and special occasions.

Recensioni di Sushi Sake Richardson
We really enjoyed this place - and so do many others. The place was packed when we arrived with people on the wait list standing outside. We were lucky in that we were only a party of two and they immediately seated us at the bar. Great place to sit and observe the chefs making sushi and sashimi. The staff was prompt in their service and the food was excellent. I highly recommend giving this place a try. The atmosphere, quality of food and amazing service all made our visit memorable. We will definitely make it back - next time we will share the experience with friends.
Delicious meal every time here at SUSHI sake. The fish is fresh and the nicest tender tuna I've had in a long time. Have to give it a try if you can, the chirashi ju gives you a taste of everything and the eel inside the una ju is the most tender as well. Try the otoro but it's market price so be careful!
I have never had sake served in a box before (called a masu, according to Google). What a neat experience, I did detect a subtle hint lumber in my sake! High quality and delicious fish 🐟, especially after my coworkers took me to a much lower quality all you can eat Japanese place earlier in the week that did not satisfy. I’m going to be back in this area next week and I can’t wait to go again!
This is my favorite sushi place! Cons: sometimes the wait is long and there’s no good place to wait, also parking is pretty terrible. Pros: everything else, the servers are attentive, the sushi chefs are highly skilled and the food is delicious. I don’t normally eat fish (never liked it) but I will eat their spicy tuna roll. The veggie roll is one of the best I’ve ever had. The agedashi tofu is good as well. Have yet to be disappointed by a meal here. Highly recommend!
Beautiful dining experience. The place feels formal & relaxed at the same time. The food is fantastic and there's something for everyone. The sushi is great and the appetizers are delicious. We had fun trying several things. We went with a couple of friends and the food came out family-style on a big plate. The service was great. Definitely want to head here again. It's a little on the pricey side but for a special occasion or if you want to impress a date, highly recommend.
We had a wonderful experience, the sushi and sashimi was good, I liked the decorations. We sat at the sushi bar and liked seeing all the orders coming out. We had the Amiyaka Beef, Nameko Jiru soup, Coconut Shrimp, the sashimi we had the Snow Crab and the Smoked Salmon and a Spider Roll for sushi. All very good flavors, everything blended perfect, we will definitely be coming back again. The service was excellent.
This restaurant is amazing! Upon entering you are welcomed into a very intimate dining experience. They have a menu of all the different types of sushi and sashimi and an accompanying menu with other entree options and appetizers. We got a spicy tuna, eel, and smoked salmon roll with gyoza for start. Everything came out fresh and delicious! Our waitress was very nice an attentive as well. Such a great experience and I can’t wait to come back!
This is the best sushi restaurant in DFW. The sashimi is the freshest and most tender I have had outside of Tokyo. The service was good as well. If my cup reached half, someone was there to fill it up. I rounded out my meal with the tempura ice cream. The dessert was larger than I expected (enough for 2) and was extremely delicious. I can not wait to return.
fresh sushi and amazing appetizers! it's always busy on the weekends, but if you can grab a spot it's so worth the wait
We were recommended to this place for our anniversary (& given the details on how to get a Saturday night spot). AMAZING! Got to sit in the corner of the sushi bar & watched the skills of our chef! So fresh & good! Only suggestion would be to have descriptions of the various sushi/sashimi. We kind of randomly picked items blindly (it was all incredible, so it didn't matter!) We WILL be back! Thank you!! :)
Excellent food and service as usual. They have their safety procedures in place and a great amount of patience. Our server even overheard our conversation about the occasion being a birthday and took it upon herself to bring us a complimentary dessert. Top notch service! A great place to take a date! The atmosphere is perfect for it.
Everything is fantastic. Sushi plates such a gorgeous go-to for me. Everything is so fresh. Cooked eel with rice is even out of this world.
Was kind of blown away by the amazing food here. It's expensive, but you definitely get scrumptious food and great service. I will say, our wait time was 45ish mins because they were busy. Great option for a date night, or a business dinner, etc. Would highly recommend! The seafood is extremely fresh and delectable.
This place took #1 spot in my fav list! That was the freshest sushi I've had in the DFW area and the service was impeccable! We came here for a date night, and just could not stop trying new sushi! All the recommendations from our itamae were superb! Will definitely be back!! P.S. of course had to come back and try more, so pics are of multiple visits.
Been coming here for over 15 years with my husband (this was one of our first dates) and it's been a favorite ever since the first bite. It's very traditional style sushi and the chefs are all amazing. Sit at the sushi bar if you can. I always enjoy the artistry behind the cutting of the fish!
This place is amazing! By far my favorite sushi place I've visited. The ingredients are fresh and prepared daily, which they do in view of the patrons for the most part. The style and decor inside is very peaceful and open, allowing one to take in all of the sights and smells that they want. There are many options, classics including California and eel rolls as well as some rarities, such as the sea urchin. They also have a decent selection of sake and serve the drink in a unique wooden square glass, which was actually much more easier to use than it seemed
Hit up Sushi Sake in Richardson with a buddy of mine and, man, was it a treat! This spot's been around since '97 and you can tell they know their sushi game. We kicked things off with some gyoza and shrimp tempura with scallops – talk about kicking off with a bang! Fresh, tasty, and just the right amount of crunch. For the main show, we dove into a Rainbow Roll, plus some salmon and octopus sashimi. Freshness? Check. Flavor? Double check. It's like they snatched the fish straight out of the ocean. The vibe there? Totally on point. It's got this traditional Japanese feel that's all about chilling out. Soft lights, cool tunes, perfect for just hanging out and having a good chat. They've got the place set up for groups too, so it's pretty easy to meet new people if it's packed. Staff and sushi bar were spot on – clean, friendly, and they know their stuff. If you're cruising around Dallas and got a sushi craving, Sushi Sake is where it's at. Just a heads up, they've got some rules about seating and dress code, but nothing that kills the vibe. Definitely worth your time and bucks!
Incredible. We ordered smoked salmon, flounder, tuna, shrimp, cucumber roll, and edamame. I couldn't find a flaw if I tried. I'm thinking about the flavor of the smoked salmon right now, and I'm craving more. The shrimp was equally delicious. And the staff, dealing with a busier than normal day (probably due to the holidays) was still extremely personal and nice. Sushi Sake just assumed the role of my new go-to sushi spot. I love the food. I love the people. I love this restaurant.
Great place for date night. My wife and I sat at the Sushi Bar since we knew that the skilled chef would quickly give us our Nigiri as he prepared it. If you sit at a table, the food would take forever to get there. Also, the place is always packed so if you are a group of six, reserve by phone. If not then be prepared to come 30 minutes before it opens and sign your name on the waiting list. We will definitely return.
The most unique sushi place I've been to! Very traditional service, atmosphere, and offerings. You may forget you're in Texas for a little bit. I enjoyed the food, including their signature Aji plate. It's definitely of the beaten path but the fact it was packed on a Tuesday evening says something!
Great sushi spot. But it gets BUSY early. If you don’t have a reservation, your only option to not wait even on a Thursday is to open them up. Even opening them up at 5:30, we weren’t the first ones in the parking lot. But boy was it great. Our server was friendly and helpful. Gave menu suggestions when asked even offering some off menu items that were to die for. The fish was as fresh as possible for a landlocked area and obviously prepared with care. If you are looking for great sushi that is also affordable (for sushi that is), then this place is a must go.
Fancy place without paying the super fancy price! Perfect spot of a date and their sushi bar looks great too! Food was delisious and service was nice. They are implementing dress code soon and are not taking reservarions for less than 6 ppl. Follow on IG and Tiktok for more reviews→ the.azn.foodie
Resturant with great atmosphere, I would say this place feels more high end compare to other local sushi places. That is a good thing about this place because of the quality of food you get here is superior and whereever you go for sushi, you will spend about the same anyways. Great place for couples or for a family on special occasions and anyday if you love Japanese cuisine.
So I am not a sushi gal, my husband tried the sushi a, it's a mix of different types of sushi and he loved it. The tofu roll wasn't his favorite but our toddler ate it up. I had the tonkatsu, it was crunchy and a little bland on its own but when you add the sauce it is delicious. The kids weren't fans of the tempura batter on their shrimp but I don't know why. The tempura was creamy and light and very enjoyable. Overall this is a good place to find yummy food, sushi fan or not.
Sushi Sake is one of our favorite sushi restaurants in DFW. It is an institution which brought great sushi to DFW and trained so many great chefs. This is our first time back since the pandemic. The procedures are well established and we feel safe and clean while dining there. The food is great as usual. Kids love the shrimp tempura and udon. The adults love the niku tofu, negitoro handroll and sweet shrimp. However the handroll and shrimp head was a bit disappointing. The handroll was soggy. We all know great handroll must be served immediately. The fried shrimp head was also cold.
I was finally able to try this place out and I am so glad that I did! I was able to sit at the sushi bar, which I highly recommend. You are able to speak directly with the chefs and get recommendations for suishi/sashimi. This was hands down the freshest sushi I have ever eaten! I tried that Katsu (fried pork skewer) as an appetizer. It came with a tangy sweet sauce that was really flavorful. Their miso soup is pretty standard but good. Strongly encourage you to get there before it opens to get your name on the list!
Went for date night and sat at the bar. The chefs were incredible and our waitress was amazing! You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu!
I've been searching for a truly immersive Japanese dining experience, and it's been a delightful journey. The atmosphere is just as important as the cuisine, and I'm hoping to find a place that captures the essence of Japan. Fresh sushi is an absolute must, I am very keen on finding some outstanding sushi rolls. If you know of any recommendations that fit this criteria, I'd be very grateful!
During a business trip to Texas, I visited this Japanese restaurant recommended by a local client. I was quite surprised by the lively atmosphere of the place. At the sushi counter, a Japanese chef crafted the sushi authentically, which was impressive. They offer a reasonably priced nigiri set, but ordering à la carte can be just as enjoyable. Besides sushi, the menu includes a variety of Japanese snacks like karaage (fried chicken). While the service felt a bit rushed at times, as the waiters were quick to clear plates, they were still courteous and attentive. Overall, I was very satisfied with the experience.
Black sesame basque cheese cake is MINDBLOWING. So good. Highlight of the meal!! What an unexpected pleasure to end the dinner - highly recommend trying the dessert. The sushi and sashimi combo quality was great - a bit awkward to share with a party of 2 because a lot of them are one piece or three pieces, not two. But the tuna was tender and wasn’t fishy. The handrolls are also great! I love the interior and service here. Would come back here for family occasions or date. It’s not so formal but not too casual, which I like. Definitely recommend if you’re around the area or even in Dallas!!
I've been to sushi across the US and I've never encountered a place so authentic. From the service to the quality and presentation. This place really goes all out. Is say it's a little pricy but when thinking about how much we got and the freshness and incredible taste it was worth every penny. They start you off with nice hot towels to wash your hands from there i knew we were in for a special treat. I had 1 bad roll out of the 9 or so we ordered..Do not order the crawfish roll other than that, sit back and enjoy. If you like sushi or sashimi/nigiri you will not leave disappointed. We got tuna, yellowtail, Eel, spicy tuna rainbow roll, spicy tuna roll.
Sushi Sake is our go-to place for Japanese Sushi. Sushi is very fresh from Japan. Sea urchin quality is great. We love the avocado salad with salmon or tuna. The fatty tuna is wonderful as well. Sweet shrimp is always our favorite. It is not the cheapest sushi place but it is the best quality/value place we found in Dallas area.
Arrived around noon. This place was already packed. We were greeted right away. Despite of a full house, food was delivered quickly with finesse. Started with a sake flight, we ordered the following: Grilled Chilean Sea Bass - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sushi & Sashimi Combination - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Albacore Tuna - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Toro - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sauteed Assorted Mushrooms ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best sushi in the area. Everything was cooked to perfection. Top notch quality with great service. Highly recommend.
New to the area and was pleasantly surprised. The Japanese culture was definitely reflected in the atmosphere and the overall experience, which was new for me, but absolutely beautiful!!! Our waitress was very patient and informative. We had some of the best and freshest sushi and sashimi. We left completely satisfied and blow away. Can’t wait to go back to try more! Next time I will definitely come when they open or make a reservation to avoid the wait. However, it was worth the wait.
Had a very lovely valentine’s dinner here! Service was great, food was delicious!
08/18: came for lunch and got here right around 11:30. There was a small line outside but we were seated fairly quickly. Sushi was very fresh and even the ginger was so fresh. Service was fine. Came for Friday dinner and everything was great. We arrived at 5:30 and signed up outside on the sign in sheet. If we came later, we'd def have to wait a lot longer. Place got packed! Food and service were both great!
The best sushi experience for the money. My wife is Japanese and she loves this place for the value, variety and experience. You can go to super expensive sushi places, but why?
Came here for my boyfriend’s birthday (lunch time) we both love Japanese cuisine and so glad to find another good spot! From the look of the restaurant outside it’s really giving Japanese vibe! All the food that we order from apps to entrees no complaints they made everything fresh and taste amazing! Overall experience was top notch! 👌🏻⭐️
Great sushi and phenomenal service. Love being greeted with hot towels when seated, the servers are personal and attentive. The Japanese aesthetic sets the vibe as you dine in. Absolutely amazing every time we visit!
This has been a repeat restaurant for several years. The selection is large enough for variety but not so much to be overwhelming. Sushi is fresh and I always get a dinner salad for the ginger dressing and finish with redbean ice-cream. I do recommend making reservations for dinner as the dining area is "cozy" and with a 45 min wait when walking in on cold day can be tedious as you have to wait in the entry way by the door. Per my 9 year old...First, the food was amazing!!!! They have the best miso soup, but the wait for a table felt like 45 minutes, but it was worth it. I would LOVE to go back.
Been going here for 20 years now, and it's quietly the best authentic sushi in the metroplex. Amazing quality for the price, I keep telling them they need to charge more. Personal favorite is their aji sashimi.
I love coming here year after year. The food and service are consistently amazing and on point. Ordered their special sake and it was so good!! I always order their special fishes on the board. Can’t go wrong! If you want to get immediate seating, arrive when they open during the weekdays and you won’t need a reservation.
We Traveled to Texas from Iowa, and this was one of the restaurants we ate at which was recommended by my sister. Sushi Sake is amazing! I was captivated immediately after walking through the doors. The atmosphere is classy and strongly reflects Japanese culture and tradition. The seating was lovely and the sushi chefs looked so cool in their uniforms. Our waitress, Kim was super attentive and kind. She was especially helpful with accommodating my vegan sister. The food was great! I especially loved the scallop sushi roll. Very light and the texture of the scallops was enjoyable. This was a wonderful stop on our trip and to top it all off, one of the employees kindly took a photo of us before we left. We left a little after closing and everyone was still so nice and patient with us. The chefs happily thanked us with an arigatou!
After my family and I have dined at many Japanese restaurants, Sushi Sake is the best. In terms of food quality, never disappointing, as it’s always fresh and offers great value. It may take a while to wait for your sushi, but the wait is worthwhile because it's not fast food; every chef cuts fresh fish and rolls rice in front of you if you sit at the sushi bar. My family and I have been coming here for years and will continue to return.
Beautifully presented Japanese cuisine, this spot is a must-try! We ordered a sashimi platter, unagi nigiri, and baked mussels — every single dish was excellent. The sashimi was stunningly fresh, sliced perfectly, and arranged like artwork. From the sweet shrimp to the buttery salmon and tuna, everything melted in the mouth. The unagi nigiri was rich, flavorful, and glazed just right with a hint of smokiness. The baked mussels were another highlight — savory, creamy, and topped with just the right touch of roe for a little pop of flavor. The presentation was top-notch, portions were generous, and the quality exceeded expectations. You can really taste the freshness and care that goes into the food here. Definitely a place worth revisiting and highly recommended for sushi and sashimi lovers!
Love this spot! When you hit the dining room, you get taken away to the other side of the world. Cool low tables accommodate 6-people for a semi private intimate experience. Jeb was a fantastic waitress, super attentive and food came out quickly and was great tasting. Definitely put this on your calendar to visit.

Amazing sushi and sashimi. The quality of the food is great. Very nice place. We sat at the sushi bar which was a very nice experience. I will definitely recommend and planning to go back. My only comment is related to service I guess. Something that looks small but makes one wonder why (btw we spent over $100 for 2 persons because of adding premium sake)... people around us were given fresh orange and a calendar when asking for the check. We were not given orange and my friend decided to ask about the calendar and we were then given one. Again, something unrelated to the food but it bothers me a bit to see those kind of details happening.
A friend invited us to ladies’ night at this gem in Richardson over the weekend and we had such a cool experience at this Japanese restaurant. Walking in, it was filled with locals so I knew that was a good sign that the food would be authentic. We were seated in the Japanese style private dining area in the back for larger groups, which I recommend because it’s more intimate than the front area. Ladies, wear socks because you will have to take your shoes off and sit on the ground. It was definitely a cool experience that I recommend trying.
Something has changed at one of my favorite places. The sushi bar was full, but the tables were half empty. It was well over 45 minutes for our order to be served. We wanted to reorder more, but were told it would be over 20 minutes to be served. Hot saki was served luke warm. Disappointing...
I have one criterion for giving 5-star reviews for sushi restaurants: the sushi has to be better than I can make at home. And sadly, that was not true for Sushi Sake. It may sound like I’m super picky about my sushi, and, well, I am, mostly because most nigiri is easy to make as long as you have high quality fish. This is where I felt like Sushi Sake fell short. We ordered a standard assortment to start: tuna (maguro), fatty tuna (otoro). salmon, flounder, yellowtail, mackerel, a salmon skin roll and a spider roll. I spotted trouble with my first piece (maguro), which had a distinct fishy odor and turned out to be a bit light on flavor — definitely not what you want from tuna. I moved on to the other pieces, saving the toro sand mackerel for last. The toro was OK but also a little short on flavor. The mackerel, however, was seriously disappointing: it was very fishy and not pickled enough. The fishiness comes from being not fresh enough, but the pickling is something the chef can control — and it’s key to eliminating the fishy taste in mackerel. The rolls were OK by unremarkable. I definitely make a better salmon skin roll at home. The spider roll was decent but neither warm enough nor crunchy enough. Maybe the crab sat around for too long between frying and being put in the roll? We followed up with some targeted picks from the blackboard: amberjack, golden-eye snapper, and Japanese mackerel. We liked the snapper (kinmedai) but we’re underwhelmed by the amberjack (kampachi). Worst, it turned out that they were out of the mackerel (shime saba), which is something I really wanted to try. We finished with eel (unagi) and salt-water eel (anago). My whole family loves unagi but we rarely see anago on a menu so this was a nice treat. On the whole, I would give Sushi Sake 5 stars for the wider-than-normal variety of fish they offer, but 4 stars for nigiri quality and 3 stars for their rolls. Their sake selection was good and I loved the night’s special pick. I thought the service was unremarkable and the prices a bit on the high side but not wildly high. So: 4 stars overall.
This restaurant is definitely underrated on Yelp! It’s one of the best sushi + izakaya Japanese restaurants I’ve ever been in Texas and I’ll keep going back for sure! This is not a formal omakase restaurant but they offer a lot of traditional/popular Japanese family-style dishes (from small plates, entrees, rice, noodles, to desserts). Aside from their signature menu, Sushi Sake also has a separate sushi menu that allows you to order the pieces you like directly from the Chefs. There are two types of seating options: counter seats and tatami table seatings. We took the former option and we really enjoyed it cuz you get to watch the chefs making yummy sushi!! All the seafood and shared plates we tried here were fresh and reasonably priced. Some of my recommendations include: Hotategai Betteryaki, Chirashi Ju, Chawanmushi, Hotate sushi, and Niku Tofu. Lastly, the only reason I’m leaving one star out is bc they don’t seem to manage well on their reservation service. We called several times and no one answered the phone. So we did walk in - it worked for us bc it was a weekday evening but I’d love them to work on their online reservation system for future bookings.
Delicious sushi + attentive server! We have been visiting sushi sake since 2008. We love their great quality of sashimi and sushi 🍣 but personally we would appreciate better response when we brought up how sandy the rad clam tongue is, their response was “it was normal.” No one wants to pay money to have sashimi with sand. When mentioned the dinner is to celebrate birthday, there is no in house treat. Lastly, crispy pork cutlet tastes not fresh which is disappointed for $20 cost.
August 2024 Came here for lunch special. We visited here after missing many years. I intent to provide some reviews. Sushi Sake has been thriving in this location for many decades. Even for lunch, I observed at least 5 sushi chefs working behind the line. The Friday lunch rush was steady and efficient. This location establishes a well deserved reputation for fresh and consistent food as well as services. My rating as 5 is very satisfy Taste 5/5 We ordered the Katsu ( pork cutlet) sea bass bento box and sushi combination. Sushi combo was great and I think the side salad was crisp and chilled. Temperature 4/5 Pork cutlet was not very hot, and not very tasty. I have to ask for a little spice to enhance it. Speed of service. 5/5 Very prompt and attentive. Cleanliness. 5/5 Well maintain and clean Will I recommend? Yes. Once in a while we need to taste how good a Japanese cruise is. Will I revisit? Not really. Good food comes with high cost.
The three of us ordered chicken karaage, shishito peppers, chirashi dinner, sushi/sashimi dinner, salmon skin handroll, and o-toro nigiri. The chicken karaage and shishito peppers were both well prepared and tasty but were very small portion size. They were not suitable for sharing. Sushi and sashimi dinner had good fresh fish and the presentation was beautiful. The better value, though, was the chirashi dinner plate. It appeared to have as much variety and similar amount of fish but was 30% cheaper. The salmon skin handroll was average and the o-toro was good but not worth the price. For example, two small nigiri pieces were more expensive than the entire chirashi dinner. The service was spotty. They were clearly short-handed and we had to wait awhile to grab the server's attention. Overall, we were impressed with the quality of the food, the presentation, as well as the great atmosphere.
The restaurant Sake Sushi has been a reliable source for Japanese and semi-Japanese cuisine for years. The ambience is a particular highlight and one of the best features of the dining experience. Management has made thoughtful choices to create a calm environment; customers are not allowed to wait inside the main dining area but are relegated to a separate waiting room, which keeps the restaurant spacious and quiet. Furthermore, the lighting creates a pleasant atmosphere despite the space being largely windowless, and the welcome lack of background music keeps things comfortably quiet for a conversation. The food menu focuses on the staples of the sushi arm of Japanese cuisine rather than invention. We found the dishes to be well-prepared and aesthetically presented. However, the restaurant has a major drawback: the complete absence of vegetarian, let alone vegan, dishes. Even the soups consist of animal-based broth, sometimes containing crustaceans, which leaves very few, if any, options for those who prefer plant-based dining. This omission is the primary factor holding the restaurant back. If this were corrected, Sake Sushi would be a top choice for us, but as it stands, we cannot recommend it for any party that includes a vegetarian. As ordinary consumers, we are not paid or compensated in any way for this review. We hope the owners will consider expanding their menu to be more inclusive.

Service was good but felt rushed and wanting to turn seats. All shared tables so dont think you are going to sit side by side unless at counter. Food fine. Nothing special.
This place is an enigma. The food i decent, good in some respects, mediocre in others. They have a glass partition, almost like a cage, as you walk in where you are separated from everyone in the restaurant. Not a very inviting scene as you walk in, the parking situation is atrocious. They told my mom that I couldn't join them at the table after they had sat down since I was still on my way to the restaurant. They need more servers, about 15 minutes went by before one came by the table and even took my drink order, let alone meal order. This place in a sense is "doing to much," it seems they have been gaslit into thinking they are the best and most desired sushi place around. believe me they aren't. So many petty rules for some mediocre food and service. Don't come here, go to a restaurant that will value your time and money.

Seems very pretentious and not worth the money. The sashimi wasn't bad, didn't expect a California roll at an authentic restaurant but it was about the same quality as Harris teeter
PROS food - definitely the food. Five different items were ordered, as well as an adult beverage – all really good. The preparation and presentation were good to go. Based on what we ordered, I’…
We have been to this place for about five or six times and every visit before tonight has been 9-10/10, but not for this one. When we were about to finish our big sushi plate, I noticed something moving on it and turns out its a bug thats alive and roaming around, I told my wife about it and she notified our server. Server came and saw it, said he will go ask what to do, came back soon after and asked if the bug flew by and landed on the plate, well we were not sure about that so I told him so. About a minute or so later a middle-aged lady came to our table with our server, maybe she is the manager but she didn’t introduce herself. When she saw the bug she immediately said it came from outside when people went in and out and opened the door. It’s definitely not in the food they cook or something. My wife said we don’t think it flew by as it has been on the plate for almost five good minutes now and hasn’t left yet. At this moment the lady said “Well what do you want us to do? You are almost finished.” We paused as we have never actually get a bug in our dish before so we have no idea what to expect. As we were being silent, the lady became impatient and asked “Could you just catch it with something? Like a napkin?” “Its not touching the food.” However the bug actually did touch the negi toro roll we ordered so I felt awkward and not sure if I should tell her it did touch our food or just catch the bug like she asked. Before I came up with something the lady grabbed my napkin and grabbed the bug away, and said “There you go.”, while quickly walking away. Our server sincerely apologized and we told him this would appear on a google review, to which he acknowledged and apologized again. I guess we are mostly surprised that a eatery like this doesn’t have a standard procedure when things like this happen, or maybe the lady assumed we want free dinner because of the bug? In fact she didn’t even offer an apology and all I presume is that she wants to extinguish this asap so she can go about her other unfinished tasks. I must point out that our server maintained a professional attitude throughout the whole strange experience, thats why I didn’t go for one star and left regular amount of tip. Maybe any of you can tell me if this bug flys or not, seems like it matters so much.
The sushi sake used to be my number one sushi place in my mind but this time was my mistake to visit. First the service was terrible. The server took my order put the double order for the nigiri. I got double of everything which was more than I can eat. However, the taste was not right. For example, the hand roll had too much rice. It is not the hand roll. It look like just regular roll with out cutting. The sever never come back to check my table. We had to order with manager. Finally, we wait for 45 mins for our food. If you want to get sushi, there are more options for you to choose. Maybe sushi from Kroger will taste better than sushi sake. Worst service ever!
Manager/Hostess was very rude this evening and addressed the situation wrong. My mom ordered tempura udon, and when it arrived the tempura was already placed into the soup. So as you can imagine the batter had soaked up all the soup and fallen off the vegetables and shrimp at this point ( so just bare vegetables and shrimp). We asked if they can refry the tempura on the side. And the manager, said “Oh that’s how it’s supposed to come, but I’ll re fry it for you this time. Just remember next time you order” as soon as she walked off every one at the table asked if we thought that came off rude. I promise you if I asked any other customer in the restaurant they would agree they prefer their tempura with the batter still on the food items and not soggy. It was busy hour so the food took extra long this evening. But the sushi was still good. The managers response out a damper on the evening unfortunately. I go to Sushi Sake once a week. And this was my moms first and last time after that encounter with management.
02/21/2025: Second time here, we waited for more than an hour for two people food. People around us who arrived at the same time or after all got their food...this is crazy ------ I was kinda worried after seeing the bad reviews. But the experience was fantastic 😍 we didn't wait much and the food was served pretty quickly. The sake was amazing!!! I don't like alcohol much but really enjoyed the wildflower sake we ordered.
Come for lunch with a combo like "sushi b", but charged with dinner price. Server claimed dinner "sushi b" different than lunch "sushi b" in quality and/or quantity, but nothing mentioned different…

Terrible customer service. Our kid was just a little active and the manager came over with a rude attitude, talking to us like we were a problem. They had staff repeatedly try to clear our plates before we were done, clearly rushing us to leave. Very disrespectful and uncomfortable dining experience. Food is nothing special, and the service totally ruined the visit. Won’t come back — not a family-friendly place at all.
Summary: I realized that I wrote a lot, so here are list of quirky things that this restaurant does that you might find offensive: - they told a family that they can’t have a bottle of milk for their new born on the table because that’s like bringing “outside food” into the restaurant. - Dress Code policy, can’t wear a cap 🧢 but are really not enforced and the same hostess just ignore it after the door. - you have to wait for your table outside of the door even though it’s raining outside and no one is in the hostess area. - the smell in the hostess area…but don’t don’t try to open the door and air it out. You will get scolded. - take out has a packing fee?!? Updated Nov 2023 Review: 1/5⭐️ I love this restaurant (read my original review below) also, Read my review below about the front door hostesses. This is a continuation of the same front hostesses story, on a different day. Today I was asked to read the rules and take off my cap 🧢 during a casual lunch, Which I was happy to comply with (even though this is my first time being asked that during all my years going here with a cap). After entering, I saw customers with caps on and the SAME hostess walked right past them without enforcing the same rules at the door. It’s interesting to see that more customer walking in and thinks the cap rule is stupid and started putting on their caps. Meanwhile the hostess walking more people in and just stares at the ones that broke the “dress code” rules then ignore them. This truly is a great place to have good sushi 🍣 but I think today did it for me. I won’t be going here or recommending anyone to dine here. Jan 2023 Review: 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ After going here since the old location, I have to say they pretty much kept everything the same. I think the front hostess and waiting area needs work. After covid, they have had these weird rules about waiting outside, close the door (even though it’s 110 degrees outside or even raining). I literally have seen people upset about this. On top of that the hostess area smells terrible (not all the time). Anyhow, still recommend this place but there are some rules that just make the experience very low. Original review: Pretty much the best Sushi in town. This deserve a five star (and I don't give the out often). Environment is top notch. Most of the sushi chef have been there since the beginning (at least 10+ years)...at least when I was going. The Sushi is always well made.
My family and I have gone to this restaurant many times before because we absolutely love the food. On this occasion, however, from the start of our arrival we were treated with disrespect. When we arrived, we had requested to sit with a friend that had arrived shortly before us, since the restaurant was empty at the time. The manager Amy was very rude with our request and started raising her voice and tone which was unnecessary, as the restaurant was empty. Then, we requested to sit at the bar as our request could not be accommodated. Amy claimed that we were breaking the rules and that we were free to leave. Never have we been turned away by this restaurant before and were upmost surprised of this encounter. We decided to leave as we were treated unfairly by the manager and no longer felt welcome. I personally will not be returning to this restaurant even though I enjoyed my previous times here because of the food.
Customer Service at its worst! It's hard to believe but this really happened. My husband and I dined at Sushi Sake restaurant recently. A place we have been at least 2 times every month for years. But this place has gone down in service now but what happens next tops the ticket. From the start, the waitress who served us did not seem friendly. But, we are used to the inconsistent service. We had ordered a few appetizers. I also ordered the soba noodle soup as my main entree as I have done many times before. When our main course arrived, I felt my soba noodle soup was very salty. I tried draining the soup and eating just the noodles thinking that would make them less salty. It still tasted salty to me. I asked my husband to taste it, and he also felt it was in the salty side. I called the waitress over and told her the noodle soup was salty and we don’t want it. She asked if I wanted something else. I told her to please send over a seaweed salad. After quite a while, on a dish that’s been prior prepared, it finally arrived but only after my husband had already finished his main course. Why it took so long, we don’t know. After we finished, my husband had just finished paying the bill when a lady we believe is the manager came up to our table and with a stern voice and an unhappy face said, "This is your last time dining here, our food does not suit your taste." Without introducing herself who she is, didn’t ask what happened, no explanation, no apologies… My husband didn't hear her clearly because the restaurant was noisy, so she repeated again. I told my husband that I would explain to him when we got out of the restaurant. After I told my husband about what the lady said to us. He was shocked and couldn't believe it. He said he had been going to this restaurant for at least 20 years, and this was the first time in his life that he had heard a restaurant manager speak to a customer like that. Customer service Sushi Sake style, I would think twice before spending your hard earned money at this ridiculous place. We won’t anymore.
