Recensioni di Norma's Corner Shoppe Ridgewood
The breakfast sandwiches are amazing. I’m a big fan of the Ranchero on a cheddar garlic biscuit or dill potato roll. On weekend mornings there’s always a wait and good luck grabbing a table and chair. I suggest calling your order in and picking it up to go.
service is super kind and the food is AMAZING!! the ranchero on the cheddar scallion biscuit is so delicious it makes my taste buds dance. its so fluffy and soft the fillings stay in when you bite into it even though they STUFF it. it truly defies physics in the tastiest way.
One of my favorite coffee shops in Queens. Food is great, my favorite being a New Yorker w/ spicy bacon (it's heavy be careful), pastries are nice and coffee gets the job done. Short on seating so I wouldn't recommend a big group going.
Yum!! Their BEC is perfect. Whatever bacon and cheddar they use are delicious. Cute and sunny outdoor seating.
I’ve lived in ridgewood since I was born (26 years), there is no better place to get breakfast around the forest Ave train station. I am ADDICTED to normas. Yhea it’s a little pricey but the quality of food is worth it for me. I stop here almost everyday after dropping off my daughter at school. Any negative reviews are most likely people with an agenda. All of the staff is extremely kind. In fact the single time they got my order wrong they made me a fresh sandwich and gave me a complimentary pastry. You won’t be disappointed.
Great coffee shop servicing local customers with strong coffee and delicious baked goods. They have a full breakfast and lunch menu that rivals most in the neighborhood. The staff is always super friendly and they're happy to explain the menu. They have a beautiful display of baked goods with some items that are even vegan and still delicious. Norma's has easily become my favorite local coffee shop.
Norma’s has some of the best lattes and sandwhiches in the area for such a good price. The ranchero is delicious (but definitely messy) and the bacon egg and cheese on a scallion cheddar biscuit is one of the best BECs I’ve had. Their bacon is thick cut and so good. Absolutely love this place!
What a cute spot! I had a large group eating and we put our order in online. Everyone was able to get something they wanted between the sandwiches and the pastries, and the vegan options were great too. Even though they were understandably really busy at noon on a Sunday, I think our order got out at a reasonable time. I wish I'd gotten the name of the two people who helped us today behind the counter. They were both so sweet and really helpful! So we had a great first experience and look forward to coming back to try orders other reviewers recommend.
The best sandwiches!!! Love this cute little neighborhood spot. One of my favorites in Ridgewood. Been coming in for more than 8 years now. I usually get chicken pesto sandwich. It is absolutely delicious! Tuna melt is also super good. You cant go wrong with any of the stuff from the menu 👌Friendly staff works here and cool young crowd always hangs in front.
The best biscuits and breakfast sandwich’s I’ve ever had. And honestly some of the best lived quality food I’ve had in NY. Love to go during the week when the crowd is tame and don’t have to worry too much about what’s available.
I just left there a few days ago. I missed out on the honey biscuits. They were sold out but we still had the New Yorker . One on an Everything Bagel and the other on a Brioche Bun. DELICIOUS!!. Can't wait to go back. It was recommended to go early. At least b4 11
I'm not sure if something has changed in the past year or so, but Norma's went from being a decent stop every now and then to my favorite go-to. The food is always delicious (particularly obsessed with the cherry crumb bar & the tuna melt) at prices that aren't outrageous, but the best aspect is the staff -- always kind and friendly. Also appreciate its promotion of local events & orgs.
The sausage biscuit was out of this earth. You can literally taste every single different component. The biscuit was so buttery and sweet the sausage so savory and the egg the perfect compliment to tie it all together. The only thing that was bad about the experience was that i have been craving another one ever since. Go support them. You won't regret it
This cafe can often be crowded and is a tight space inside. Seating is not available indoors, however there is outdoor seating available. On my visit I tried the Spicy Bacon Sandwhich and loved it, the bacon slices were thick and well seasoned. Iwill need to go back to try a few more breakfast sandwich options in the future. I also tried the chocolate croissant, it was okay.
Delicious sandwiches on the biscuit, fresh and crisp. They only provide seating outside, so I'd recommend takeout on wintertime.
Went there two weeks ago and it took a lot longer than I wanted but the Best was the Best and it was worth the wait. And they give me a little surprise for my wait. I am going back tomorrow because I am off and it's going to be another rainy day. Best Biscuit ever!! I forgot the reason why it took long was because the biscuits fall apart, it's that good.
Cheddar scallion biscuit is everything. The girls that work there were friendly and smiling. My hubby got the turkey club on of the girls recommended. He loved it. We'll definitely be back. Thanks.
The best thing that ever came to the neighborhood!!! Best sandwiches....you can't go wrong with any!!! Small space but cozy.....you just feel real comfortable!! Best sandwiches: The New Yorker, The Ranchero and the Fully Loaded!! And in the hot summer ......their fresh brewed iced teas are the best!!!
I can’t give this place enough stars for the amazing quality of food and service. It’s a small place so your order can take 15-25m but that’s because they are so popular! 100 stars. The sandwiches are all amazing and the baked goods too.
I would wait 3 hours for a sandwich here, I don't care. This is the wholesomest coffee shop.
I think about the New Yorker every day. It is seriously that good. And the staff is super chill and nice!
This place is Amazing ...I repeat AMAZING Everything is made fresh on site, splendid customer service & food that will make your insides smile & forget your worries Best Biscuits in the state of NY No..correction best biscuits on the East Coast Buttery , fluffy but not heavy sells out fast All the sandwiches morning & lunch is beyond awesome Even has a corner where local art is sold And has outdoor seating All Bake goods will blow your tastebuds
The New Yorker with vegan sausage is really good, especially on the biscuit. Seating is unpredictable. Also be prepared to wait a little while
If you find yourself in Ridgewood this is one of the best breakfast sandwiches in NYC imo. I miss living in this neighborhood just because of Norma's. A true little known gem.
My friend and I spent the week in the Ridgeland area with some friends of ours. Throughout the week we got our coffee and breakfast from a different place closer to the subway station. One day, however, that place was closed and we made our way to Normas. I am so glad we did. The staff was warm and welcoming. We immediately knew we were in the right place because the place was packed but food and drinks were coming out quickly. We tried a variety of drinks over the next few days and were not disappointed. On our last day, we grabbed breakfast as well. I had the Fully Loaded breakfast sandwich and she had the New Yorker. While we weren’t in love with the bread we chose, the food was very good. There were lots of other bread choices, though, so I’m sure it would have been amazing had we chosen a different option like the bagel or sourdough bread. If you are in the area, this is the place to go!
I went in with no expectations, but left impressed. The sandwich are really good and can pick from their bread options. I recommend the biscuit bread it was 10/10
Just had Norma’s for the first time, other times I tried to go the line was out the door. Now I definitely understand the hype. I got the Ranchero and it was DELICIOUS. So much flavor for a breakfast sandwich. I also love the little earrings and art they sell.
The food here is delicious whether you're getting a breakfast sandwich on a scallion cheddar buscuit or you want to enjoy one of their unique sandwiches and pastries. The food tastes fresh, and you get the SAME thing every time you go. Also, try one of their specialty drink!!!! On weekends be prepared to wait upward to 35 minutes for your cooked food.
This place makes amazing ice lattes. This is not a understatement. I've never come across a place that made it this perfect... They also sell jewelry from a small business! they are very one of a kind.
My ABSOLUTE favorite spot in Ridgewood to grab a breakfast sandwich! Always made to perfection, I get the New Yorker on a croissant. I add cream cheese and jam to my sandwich. It’s my signature. I for sure recommend trying my sandwich and you for sure must try Norma’s! I recommend placing an online order for pick up or expect to wait. They are always busy. There’s outside seating to enjoy your meal. Their bake goods are scrumptious too! YUMMY!
You can’t go wrong with any of their bread choices, but their biscuit sandwiches are too powerful. You might not be able to go back to a regular sandwich. Excellent pastries and lemonade as well!
Best breakfast sandwich I’ve found in the area, their New Yorker on a biscuit is so good. I also want to commend them for their customer service. They were having electrical issues with their oven a few weeks ago and unable to make breakfast sandwiches so I had my order cancelled after placing it. When I looked back a few weeks later there was a mistake and the refund had not been processed. I brought this up next time I went (a few weeks later) and they handled it very gracefully and made things right on that order. Thank you guys.
I usually get the chicken melt and it's very good. The coffee is also consistently good. It can take some time as the kitchen is small, but the staff is busy and works hard and is polite. I order food in advance, and they've never missed an order, like some delis do. The coffee I order when I get there.
I had an errand to do in the area, and I just had the most amazing turkey sandwich! I will definitely stop by and bring my husband so he can try it. Thank you to the staff for taking the time to make such a delicious and dedicated sandwich.
This is my favorite cafe in all of Queens! The pastries are scrumptious and the sandwiches are to die for! The Southern biscuit gravy sandwich is heavenly and the lattes are made to perfection (plus they have oat milk!!!). Staff is always friendly and I love biking to this wonderful spot! Definitely stop by!!!
The BEST breakfast sandwiches I have ever had in my whole life. Nothing is better. Southerner on a Scallion Cheddar Biscuit oh my god!
I love this place. My partner and I have been coming here since 2014. A few days ago my order was off and they comped our sandwiches the next time we came in. I appreciate the great quality of customer service!!!
I recently visited Norma’s and I just have to say I’m really pleased with it. They have tasty breakfast sandwiches and the service is friendly and welcoming. I also appreciate that they keep things focused on good food and service without bringing any LGBTQ+ ideologies or themes into the business. It’s just a straightforward, comfortable spot to enjoy a meal.
I think I eat their vegan sausage sandwich on an everything bagel at least once a week. It tastes so good on a Sunday morning ! It can take 20-30 mins if you order during peak hours
The breakfast biscuit sandwiches and baked goods are SO delicious. Service is 10/10 — the staff was beyond friendly. Very cute ambiance and ample outdoor seating. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.
the new yorker with spicy bacon on a scallion cheddar biscuit is amazing. Consider getting it with mayo or tomato or both. I've been here probably 20 times and gotten the same thing 15+ times. It can look a bit strange and disproportioned, but it tastes amazing don't worry. wait times can be a bit bad, as with seating, but the quality of the food at its peak makes it all worthwhile. Some may dislike the baked egg as opposed to scrambled and folded.
Went to Norma’s on the way to Rockaway Beach. Fourth of July. Two nyc transplants chasing something classic, something warm and soft and dripping in honey. We both ordered biscuits. Split them open like a wishbone. Jam, butter, sticky fingers. Nothing more American than eating something that tender and calling it breakfast. We carried the crumbs to the edge of the Atlantic, where the heat was relentless and they wouldn’t let us in the water. Danger beneath the surface, the undertow There’s something sticky about that moment too. The taste of salt and sweetness still on our tongues, the ocean just out of reach. Like the country itself. Gorgeous. Brutal. Half-closed. But we laughed and laid in the sun and let the day soak through. Norma’s tastes like a memory of the good times that were actually good
This place has long been on my list! Finally getting out on a nice day to give it a try and it did not disappoint. Great breakfast sandwich options and morning drinks. Had the ranchero sandwich with spicy bacon and it was very good, although a little messy. Also had a pesto mushroom sandwich which was much lighter but very fresh. Coffee and matcha were great too. The only issue is you will wait to get your food if they are busy upwards 30 or so minutes and they have very limited seating options.
How adorable and cozy Norma's Corner Shoppe is. We were there randomly for a quick breakfast fix and we had Chocolate Mocha Bundt, Raspberry Loaf and 2 cups of latte. Both cakes were amazingly delicious and satisfying. The texture was soft & puffy and the frosting was rich & creamy. The latte was not a surprise but it's decent and refreshing. My friends told us their Biscuit Sandwich is really good and we will definitely visit again to try it.
This little corner coffee/bake shop kicks ass! The exterior and interior are very charming. Inside there's a handful of tables and outside there's an additional 2. There's barely standing room when the place gets more than 10 customers. They also sell art and jewelry from local artists and designers. The service is friendly (at least the people that were there when I went in). There's a bit of a wait when you order food but it's well worth it! Here's what we ordered: Large iced coffee $3 - REALLY good coffee, way stronger than I expected, not too acidic and not sour Hot coffee w. shot of espresso $4 - My coworker said he was impressed New Yorker with SPICY BACON on a ciabatta roll $5 - Oily and a bit messy to eat but delicious! I would get this again in a heartbeat! Raspberry Coconut Bread Pudding $2 - It was only okay, I think I'll try a different baked good next time :)
Sandwiches are the best in Queens and baked goods are also great. They have wonderful gluten free options. Not the best coffee, and long wait times and mixed up orders happen frequently. It’s worth the wait though, just check your bag before you leave to make sure it’s correct!
Nice small and cozy bakery with good breakfast sandwiches. I ordered a New Yorker and replaced the meat with avocado. It was a delicious vegetarian option. I also ordered the Passion Fruit juice which was good. Unfortunately, they aren’t open very late. They close at 3:00 pm or 4:00 pm, but are open daily.
Norma’s Corner Shoppe Layout/atmosphere *Small shop; tables inside gate on sidewalk Food/drink *Sweet Vanilla Chai Tea Latte (Metro Chai concentrate and milk) - solid *Havarti Party (dill havarti, special Dijon sauce, pickled onion, smoked ham, pickles , micro greens) on traditional buttermilk biscuit - solid; decent size biscuit *Chocolate chip cookie - solid; soft
I went twice in a row bc I was so excited to try their biscuits but they didn't have any one the first day I went, and I was pretty disappointed by both breakfast sandwiches I got. The bacon in the New Yorker was incredibly burnt that it wasn't really edible, so I ended up crumbling the bits away. And there was way too much cheese in proportion to the rest of the ingredients. The bagel however was a pretty decent bagel. The Southerner was somehow really bland and salty at the same time. The biscuit, while good and crispy, was super salty, which was weird bc the the sausage gravy was the most blandest gravy I've ever eaten. Eating it all together gave weird bursts of salt. I'd probs go back for the biscuits themselves and nothing else.
This place should really let customers know when they aren’t taking online orders instead of wasting people’s time trying to figure out why the website is not allowing them to continue with payment. Very frustrating! Also, the quality has been decreasing. I blame the herd of transplants.
Great atmosphere and coffee, but their kitchen needs a lot of work dishing out food; the average wait time for any sandwich is about 20 mins (times from previous until now), they seem to always be out of ingredients or they just don't put all the elements in the sandwich. In the picture below their is supposed to be eggs, but there are none, and literally ever time I order a sandwich from here there's something missing... A real shame cause I like this place, but the kitchen is a huge disappointment. Moreover, I wouldn't recommend their sandwiches, but their pastries are good and so is there coffee.
This review is coming from someone who has been visiting Norma's since 2014, not long after they opened. It was a triumph that from 2014- early 2020 the Ranchero was only $5-$6.50. However during Covid, the prices shot up and I also feel the quality went down. It's easy to blame this on inflation or the supply chain issues, but this happened prior and prices are not going to come down from $8. It's really a reflection of the neighborhood changing and the gentrification. Also the renovation was a mixed bag, the kitchen needed more space, but now the cafe vibe is gone. It was always busy on the weekends, but was a solid spot during the week to hang. Norma's is still a solid place, but not what it once was.
Came here like 2 years ago it was pretty good. Visited again recently and got the southerner and a chocolate chip cookie. The chocolate chip cookie is decent nothing crazy. The biscuit texture is 10/10 but theres no flavor, the majority of the sandwich was bland. At the end of some bites of it you can get hints of the honey butter and seasoning and it’s really good. If they could somehow make the flavors pop out more it would be a great sandwich. Maybe I just got a bad batch, otherwise it’s a nice clean sandwich not greasy not food comay. Ill try it again
I love this place for their food or coffee so its not easy for me to leave this review. I’m so disappointed about their matcha, It shouldn’t be sold as matcha as it reminds nothing of it and is not ceremonial grade. It’s some sort of cheap sugary mix and the color and taste is so unpleasant. To comparison I have added the picture of their matcha and any other place that has the right type of matcha (ceremonial grade matcha - what matcha actually should look like). I hope my constructive feedback will be considered as it’s ridiculous to charge matcha price for this cheap full of sugar mix.
Changing my review as of 11/2024. I really do love Norma’s, but I can’t justify spending $10 or more on an egg sandwich that have those gross 3D printed egg patties like you see in frozen Jimmy Dean sandwiches or at Dunkin. In general, they’ve gotten way too overpriced for what they offer.
Pretty lackluster sandwich options. Ordered a toasted turkey sandwich, it came cold not toasted. I was hungry so whatever. Take my first bite and its a chunk of turkey cold cuts, the slices were not even separated. Its like they took it out of the Oscar Meyer pack and just slapped it on the bread. I might come back and try some of their drinks the Matcha Lemonade looked okay but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.
Staff are friendly. However, they need more staff. Went on a Sunday morning and there was only one person in the kitchen. I waited 10 mins for a hot chocolate and over 30 minutes for my sandwich. They over toasted my bread and I asked for lightly toasted. Bread was hard and dark almost burned and not enjoyable. I asked for an egg to be added onto my sandwich which I was charged for but it wasn't added. I did get a refund for it. Overall, i would definitely not come back. I went there based on the good reviews but was disappointed
This place is too small to not be greeted on the walk in. Cashier/Barista had the “Gen-Z stare”, no personality and mumbled their words. I could barely understand them. I really wanted to just say forget what I came in for but the way people raved about the biscuits I was willing to still try. Biscuit wasn’t for me. Regular Coffee was nice and strong. Wouldn’t go again though.
We used to frequent this spot when my girlfriend lived just a couple of blocks away. It was our go-to breakfast place, one that didn’t leave you feeling guilty after eating. Since we were back in the neighborhood, we decided to drop by. It's been a few years, and there were a lot of new faces. All the outdoor seating was taken, but they bring your order to you when it’s ready, so no big deal. We ordered three breakfast sandwiches and an iced latte. After ordering, I noticed a sign by the cashier mentioning they have a small kitchen and orders might take a while when it’s busy. I didn’t think much of it since we were the only ones ordering at the time. But then it did get busy, and it ended up taking 45 minutes to nearly an hour to get our three sandwiches—which I thought was wild! I’ve seen smaller spots push out orders faster than this place. I don’t mind waiting if the food’s worth it, but it wasn’t. There was no seasoning at all—salt and pepper seemed nonexistent. The eggs looked like they’d been microwaved. For the price they’re charging, I expected more, especially after that long wait. Honestly, we should’ve just gone to the bodega across the street.
I have been here many times and their quality is going down and I don’t understand why my BLT has so little bacon and so many greens instead and the bagel was so small. I keep giving them chances but I’m done now.
Found huge disgusting strand of hair in my sandwich. Feels like it was intentionally placed there after I mentioned how it's ridiculous that I'm paying over $20 for 3 menu items. Person who made the sandwich also screamed at a bunch of customers who were outside browsing to "not come in," prior to them entering. Obviously, they couldn't hear this from outside, but like... I'm clearly in the store waiting for my food? Doesn't look good to talk shit about customers in front of other customers. Have worked in customer service long enough to know that. Food was decent other than that long, disgusting, intentionally placed hair. Won't be going back.... Plenty of other spits in the neighborhood that I can eat at for cheaper who have friendlier staff.
Why just one star? Because I don’t like, and I don’t respect if someone is lying on the website. I was there because on the website it’s written that they have indoor seating, but there is not true. If a coffee shop is lying at the website that lack of integrity! They have an outdoor seating, but they offer just to go cups! So I do not recommend this coffee shop
I didn’t think the coffee was great. Was disappointed because I like the area.
I’ve been a customer for almost 10 years. Yesterday, June 14th, takes the cake for the worst service I’ve had. The Barista seemed more interested talking to his friend than preparing drinks. I had a simple one drink order yet they made it with almost no ice and the taste was bland. The way they served the drink too, calling out the order as if making this thing was wasting their time, makes me want to take my $7 down the street to anywhere else and get a decent drink. Coffee shops are popping up All over Ridgewood. Next time, I’ll go to Cholita or Abracadabra where the drinks and service are actually good. PS the person working the register, hat with curly hair, was very professional.
This was the most bitter caramel latte experience of my life. And the non seasoned New Yorker is reminiscent of a late-night 7-eleven run when you take the wrapped bacon, egg and cheese that's been under the heat lamp all day. The egg is the same as the one u get from dunkin donuts..a round processed unremarkable circle of yellow..I could go on but I will spare you and give you a blessing in disguise. It's called Nomad's..it just around the corner from where you thought you wanted to go before until I saved your day by telling you this..get the smashbrowns..don't even look at the menu..you are in for the best breakfast item the world has ever divulged in..tell him smitty put you on. Have a blessed day..
Prices are a joke 😂 16 dollars for a mid egg sandwich is insane.
The service is nasty every time I go here, tried to write it off as a bad day a few times but it’s just not pleasant, everyone working here always seems to be in a bad mood and the food always takes so long to come out. Defeats the purpose of a takeout cafe if the sandwiches take 30 min to come out. Really wanted to like this place
I’m honestly done with this place. I’ve given them so many chances, but it just keeps getting worse. They’ve messed up my order multiple times before, and I let it slide, hoping things would improve — but they haven’t. Now the matcha tastes like raspberry candy, the sandwiches are never wrapped (impossible to eat on the go), and today I got a $12 sandwich that was tiny and barely had any avocado. It’s ridiculous. This has been happening too often not to speak up. Not worth the money anymore.
