We live in Manhattan, so this place is far for us. We can't wait for the summer to arrive every year to eat this delicious food when we go to the beach. It has become a tradition. This is the best Peruvian food we have had in New York. There is no such good place in Manhattan. Our favorite dishes: roasted chicken, and ceviche.

You need patience when ordering from here. The food is good but if is busy then you have to wait a while.

Love the chicken and fry rice with the fried green plantains with that not so spicy sauce. The prices are not bad also. If you like sea food try them out.

The chicken was so delicious. Don’t skimp on the green sauce either it’s so good. The ceviche is delicious too, just wish we got some chips or rice on the side because it’s so tart (in a good way).

PERÚ 🇵🇪 Eat the World NYC review: Most outsiders who come on day trips to the beaches of the Rockaways do not have much sense of the demographics or lay of the land in various neighborhoods, but there is plenty to explore north of the boardwalk. There are pockets of urban New York City from Belle Harbor to Far Rockaway, where besides the salt in the air you would never know a beach was nearby. The pocket of commercial businesses in the neighborhood called Rockaway Beach is one of the largest west of Far Rockaway, stretching from Beach 86th Street down to Beach 102nd and encompassing one of the major vehicular entry points from Cross Bay Blvd. Beloved Dominican restaurants like Brisas Del Mar are found in this area, as well as this Peruvian favorite. Most beachgoers from other parts of the city stick to their own coolers and some of the expensive hipster-leaning summer stalls, but better food is on these urban streets where Rockaway residents eat. The jalea personal ($18) is the ultimate Peruvian bar food and does well to make your beach blanket heaven. Coming in two sizes, the "personal" is the small but was massive enough to fill two plates when transferred from its to go container. The offerings in this dish included shrimp, squid, meaty hunks of whitefish, one large clam, and some strips of yuca, all fried. It should be stated that the batter here could win awards for not only being light and airy but delicious enough that nothing extra is requisite.

I’m so glad our friends recommended trying the food here. It is really great! The chicken was so well cooked and seasoned the green sauce is nice and spicy and the tamales are amazing. If you want to try some roasted chicken or a delicious plate of food this is the place to go in Rockaway. They have a house made green spicy sauce that complements all the food and the Incan soda was super delicious! Highly recommend if you’ve never tried it to give it a try. We dined in and they asked for a vaccination card but after that it was super chill and we really had a great experience the server was super nice and they also have flan so we will definitely be going back soon

Local Peruvian spot. Order from here at least 1x a month. Usually get the jalea, tostones, and maduros. The jalea is very tasty but everytime I order it i cross my fingers hoping for more shrimp or squid as it’s fish. The maduros and tostones are standard. Oh they provide that amazing green sauce with your order.

The food is to be expected for your Peruvian experience, the overall environment makes you feel comfortable and at home, only thing is some of the food might be a little smaller than what you expected, for ex: their steak was thinner than what I thought for the price.

I just ordered from this location and picked up a half chicken with yellow rice and beans and a side order of plantains. During the order I asked for 2 of the red sauces and later I asked if I could try the green sauce. These sauces come in small packages (see pic), so it is usually just enough to cover a 1/4 meal let alone the half chicken order. It was not until I received my order and checked the bag that I discovered that my request for 2 red sauces and 1 green was not fulfilled. I was I informed that I could not have 2 of the red sauces. In fact, I was told by the guy in the front that I had to ask the woman in the back if I could have another as I originally requested. She said sure and then said "$1.00." REALLY?! You are going to charge a local resident who decided to patron your restaurant tonight an extra $1 for a small package of sauce. Now this is of course insulting considering that I not only paid for my meal but I always give a standard tip because I know that our small businesses need to be supported. The guy later said that he would cancel out the tip, which by the way I never asked nor did I tell him to do that as my tip was not based upon the need to gain favors. In sum, the food is really good but they definitely lost me as a customer. I NEVER have this type of issue with several of my favorite restaurants that I frequent and I did find his presumed "kind gesture" to return my tip insulting because he totally missed the point. Oh I failed to mention that during my wait, I witnessed another customer ask for more green sauce, which I received 2 without any request for extra money. DO BETTER!

By far, One the best Peruvian restaurants in Queens! I tried the Saltado de Pollo. it was executed perfectly! Great job Cabaña Team. All the flavors were there, it surprise me cause it wasn't dry nor watery... It was cooked to perfection! My wife had the Tallarin Verde. This was a succulent and delicious dish. We felt like We were in haven ! Please never change your delicious food! Thank you for making go back to Peru for a few minutes♥️ Just one little thing that I would like to mention, just keep your restrooms 🚻 clean, please !

This is a great go to chicken spot. The Peruvian style roasted chicken is fantastic and always juicy. I always get the yellow rice and beans as a side with the avocado salad. I enjoy the nice green Aji Verde sauce they have, it has a really nice kick to it. Place is clean clean and staff always helpful.

Food is good in taste and presentation but service is terrible with there evening staff one waitress has a very nasty attitude and what makes matters worse we were only two people and she had the nerve to impose a 18% gratuities on my bill , you need us customers so be nice to us with pleasent attitude , i strongly suggest to the owner get rid of your nasty attitude workers before you lose business , no food is that good for people to be treated this way then demand a 18% tip ! I was very upset when the tip was automatically added. It was me and my sister (2 people not 6). The waitress said that any bill over $32 they add a tip. I looked everywhere to see if there were any signs that say that. It's not in the menu or posted anywhere. This is not legal and she said they have always done it this way. Just because you've always done it this way doesn't mean it's right or legal. I'm a good tipper but not when I'm forced to do it.

We were a group of 7, we sat down and we had to wait about 15 minutes for the waitress to come to us, meanwhile we were the only one there, by accident we order an extra bottle of water, and we told her, and she said I'm sorry I already charged it, I can't remove it, I think they need to improve on the service, put Spanish music more Peruvian music or something related to the restaurant. I might comeback if changes are made.

When it comes to Peruvian food it's not bad but it's not good the fried rice has no flavor, the sweet plantains are soggy, beans too salty, rice dry but the chicken has good flavor again not the best but decent definitely makes up for the rest but then the price of one chicken is 15$ that's ridiculous not only that but I've order the same thing three different times and been charged three different prices and got different portion sizes to they are just a mess the only thing they have going is that the chicken is good and there are no Peruvian restaurants for miles so they have no competition.my wife lies the food so I've ordered a handful of times from there but if it was just me they wouldn't have heard from me after the second time.

I tried the Jalea there, even though this place is closest to me their Jalea is somewhat different than the original place and as close as they are to me they do not deliver so I drive to the one I enjoy best on Liberty Ave. They are the same name but different chefs I guess. 5 STARS LIBERTY AVE.

Food is OK...the staff are mostly nice...especially Ariana and Gregory who are very kind and attentive. There is a seriously rude, unpleasant jerk named NANCY...who does everything she can to make customers uncomfortable.

I've been here a bunch of times. The food is amazing but the service is appalling. Today we drove there on the way to the beach. We ordered on route on a busy Saturday and went through traffic to get there. The Seamless order said it was ready for collection. We got there 45 mins after it opened. They just shrugged and said their chefs weren't there yet. We had driven half an hour out of our way to pick this food up that Seamless said was ready. They didn't know how to refund us so we had to spend more time calling Seamless. If you are in the area and you see they are open, go in, because the food is perfect and some of the best we have had. But don't go out of your way to pick something up from there as the staff are teenagers and they are all over the place.

Please know that I don't want to hurt this business...I loathe negative rants on Yelp! I hope locals and beachgoers will continue to support this small business. I escaped the heat of the City to hang out at the beach during the late afternoon. I packed a good book and called La Cabaña Peruana for a takeout order of chicken, rice, beans, and a salad. After 3 unsuccessful attempts to place a phone order, I decided to stop in. I'd dined in the restaurant last summer and enjoyed a really good meal. Perhaps it was because a Federal Holiday (Juneteenth ) and the restaurant wasn't sufficiently staffed or because the sole employee at the front of the house needs more direction and/or training, I don't know. I won't give a tiresome account of what was wrong with my order, except to mention the cashier/server/busser/order taker explained the mistake with my meal as "they are confused in the kitchen". That person didn't offer a smile, apology, or remedy for the issue with my meal. During the half hour wait for the food, 2 groups walked out. One was seated and the other waited at the door for 5 or so minutes without being acknowledged. 9 people in total. Tables were left dirty. Takeout customers complained amongst themselves. That said, I will go back for another chance at a good meal. I'm looking forward to writing an updated review! ***From one restaurant owner to another...you have a good product . PLEASE support your staff. Your menu is good, budget friendly, simplistic and easy to execute. Consider this, the money that was lost in one half an hour would have paid for an additional staff for at least 8 hours. Best wishes for a more successful venture****

The food is fresh and so delicious but due to the language barrier they have gotten my order wrong twice. But the food,again is very tasty and good The service needs improvement alot. It seems as though the young lady doesnt care if the restaurant receives business or not. She was very rude on the phone and stated that my order had to be $30 or above ,,for delivery. Funny because when they mess up the order and give you the wrong order they ask you if you could come back and pick up the corrected order. I ordered mussels, it came with only 5, cost $15, was ice cold, and they told me to pack it up and bring it back tomorrow to exchange for another plate if I didn’t like it. Apparently the “chef” wouldn’t believe me unless I packed up the food and brought it back to show them. Of the 5 mussels they served, they were bland, and served with a bowl of lettuce and lemon juice. Absolutely awful

People loves the food but complains that they always messing up the order or forgets the salads or sides. We order 5 combos and additional sides but unfortunately they forgot to pack A salad. I called and the young lady explained my order and I told her what came in the bag letting her know the addition salad was missing. She gave me an attitude and was like “Okay and I said I packed…..” n then either she had up or it cut off. I Decided to walk back to the restaurant with a picture of what I received since I felt it was hard to understand each other and asked to speak to the supervisor. Apparently she is in charged and she packed all my food with an attitude and sarcasm and that was that. It is ashamed that this Restarant has a 16-18 year old running the place and arguing with a Custumer over a salad. I could have had paid for another salad but I know what I received and after all not trusting them on making my food.

Place is a joke. Waiters started adding tips onto the bill and then don't tell you about it, hoping you double-tip. That's what happened to me after my 6th or 7th time eating there. Pretty sad they have to resort to stealing from someone who tips 20% every time (as I have)... So I'd check your bill closely, because they pretend like they can't fix it when you confront them about it.

The cashier/attendant is aweful...I walked in the restaurant and she did not attend to me in a timely manner. It took too long to place and receive my order and the order was wrong. I had complained but will never revisit this restaurant....poor. The food could have been better too.

I picked up food on May 21st around 9pm, and when I got home I realized the order was wrong and my chicken was undercooked. By the time I got home the store was closed, so I called the next day and they said there's nothing they can do. I have been to this restaurant before because my sister orders a lot from here and the service was good, however today the service was terrible. The waitress that sat us down took our order and left to take care of other things. We didn't order anything big, just 2 appetizers and 1 main plate to share. After waiting for 40 minutes her coworker comes to our table and asked me to repeat the order to confirm which means that the other waitress didn't place it. We waited 10 more minutes and asked the waitress that took our order originally why is it taking so long and she said that there were too many to go orders to take care of and our order was delayed. When I complained that the restaurant was not that busy for our order to take this long she has the odasity to say " so you still want your food" and walked away. This restaurant has good food, but with this type of service it won't last long.

The worst part is that I called more than 20 times, and when someone finally answered (both in English and Spanish), they hung up on me to avoid helping. I came in today with my group of friends, it took 10 minutes for us to be seated. Once seated it took our waiter another 10 minutes to take our order. I got the arroz con mariscos and it was horrible. The rice was hard, it was mostly rice and a few pieces of shrimp. Our waiter was terrible and inattentive. Every time we requested something he took 10 minutes to get back to us. We waited 30 minutes for him to clear our table and get our check. Auto grad was included without letting us know prior to checking out. Horrible.

I was there yesterday with my niece food was very salty I did take out and the girl she was a little off . There was a lady that was behind me that she approached first the lady told her that I was there first in Spanish when she knew I was there first cause I had ordered already why approach the other lady first when you know I’m there I’m not invisible she assumed I didn’t know Spanish because of how I look when I’m Honduran which is typical but that’s another story I tried the beans and made a joke that I make better habichuelas to my niece she gave me a dirty look it’s your restaurant or something girl but I really do tho but anyway wouldn’t go back there the maracuya juice had a weird after taste . We visited this restaurant as a group of 12. We explained to a waitress that we were a group of 12, and she told us to wait until the middle section was free. Although the place was packed, we took it as a good sign and we decided to wait for a table. After a while, another waitress approached us and asked what we were waiting for. We explained we were waiting for a table, without hesitation she told us it was ready and immediately turned around to lead us to the table. However, the table was clearly not large enough for our group. We mentioned this to her, she simply said “oh” and walked away, leaving us standing there. We had to ask another staff member if it was ok to add more chairs, he agreed and helped us accommodate everyone. Unfortunately, the service continued to decline from there. No menus or utensils were provided, we had to get the menus ourselves and request utensils only after the food arrived. It took quite a while for someone to take our order, and when they did the waitress had to switch out because she was repeatedly called to the register to handle phone orders. Eventually, the same young lady from earlier returned to take our order. The food took over an hour to arrive, and when it did, it was just okay. We had requested a side of tostones multiple times, but they never came. At one point, another waitress stopped by to check on us, we again asked for the tostones, along with hot sauce and salt. She completely ignored the request and went to another table without returning. We ultimately canceled the tostones, and were charged for an extra fried rice we did not order. Additionally, an 18% gratuity fee was automatically added to our bill, which was over $200. While we typically have no problem tipping and believe in compensating good service, in this case the staff did not earn that level of gratuity. The restaurant itself has the potential to accommodate as many people, but they are clearly understaffed or in need of better training. The waitstaff seemed overwhelmed, and while that’s understandable, it should not come at the expense of the customer’s experience. If the restaurant is going to automatically include an 18% gratuity, they need to ensure the service provided reflects that charge.

First of all, the front glass door was very dirty and had hundreds of fingerprints. The extremely loud music was very disturbing. The busboy was inexperienced but helpful. There was no salt and pepper on the table. After asking three times, they understood me and brought it from the other table. The white rice was terrible, not fresh, probably from yesterday. There was also no tap water. Two waitresses and a busboy did not know what they were doing. It was below the average restaurant quality. I will not give it a second chance.

I went to La Cabaña today, and honestly, I left feeling really disheartened. I waited over ten minutes just to have my order taken, while the two waiters prioritized phone orders and helped several other guests who arrived after me. When I finally received my food, it was overwhelmingly just rice—about 90%—with a few pieces of potato, some mini carrots, and a single slice of beef that was still raw on one side. I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but I can’t help but wonder if the way I was treated—especially after asking a few questions about the menu—somehow affected the quality of the meal I was given. It’s just really disappointing. I’ve been trying to find a new spot I can go to regularly and feel good about supporting, but this experience honestly left a bad taste in every sense. Please note that nothing was taken off of the platter. As the amount of food that I have and what I am showing you is what I was given.

i ordered chicken and rice from here. i specifically asked for white meat and they gave me dark meat. they do this every single time i order. they never ever listen. i also ordered a flan and there was mold spores on it. the flan smelled like sweat and was completely unedible.

I have to say I gave this place a second chance and the food and service -worst I ever experience. The person taking the orders kept hanging up on me and assure me she had my address without asking or confirming it with me. I had to call 3x to check because she kept hanging up on me. I know it can get busy but common do the job correctly. Delivery guy contacted me when he arrived and was at the wrong address, very disappointed. The food was horrible! I order anticuchos and it was the worst thing I ever tasted it was not edible at all. It looked and tasted like the meat was not fresh at all. I also got avocado salad without dressing, no sauces at all were included so my food was very dry. Very disappointed with this place, I will definitely will not give it another chance because my two previous experience with food and service were very poor. Please hire new cooks and a staff that knows how to work with customer service!

I would NEVER eat at this place ever again! The young guy that takes the orders when you call is disgusting!! He treats everyone that calls to place an order like garbage.. he has a nasty attitude and when I went to the restaurant to confront him about treating customers horribly he admitted to it because "they get very busy" so he gives people attitude! Now to the food.. we ordered a grilled chicken salad and the chicken was so under cooked it wasn't edible and had to be thrown away! It's also ridiculously expensive!!!!
