Tip: Ask for less ice in your Bloody Mary. Also, try the sauces served with the burgers and fries, especially the wasabi.

Everything was absolutely delicious and our waitress was amazing and so kind! This was the best restaurant we visited during our whole trip! We are from out of state but we will definitely be back when we come back to San Diego!
Average Joe burger is my "go to" the sauces served with the burger and fries are fabulous. Bloody Mary was delicious. Ask for less ice.
If you’re looking for a great burger, come here! You won’t be disappointed. Also looooved their “burger” of the month which was German style brats on a pretzel bun. The service is great too! Will definitely be back.
Great experience at Bare Back Grill. The open air layout allows you to feel the sea breeze and immersed in the beach town atmosphere while protected from the elements. The wait staff was a little impatient initially with getting food and drink orders but also very attentive and kind. They even brought over a little pack of crayons and coloring sheet for our little one - clearly a very children-friendly establishment. We had the steak and eggs, the fried chicken sandwich, and the veggie burrito. Everything was made perfectly and super delicious. One remark is that there's no steak sauce for the steak. The waitress helped us make do with a house-made chutney, but it's not quite the same (please just have a bottle of A1 around). All in all, we had a lovely experience eating brunch at Bare Back Grill and will certainly be back (if not just to try their wagyu smash burger)
Seating inside or outside. We sat outside. The staff was friendly and attentive. This was absolutely the best Philly Cheese Steak I've ever had! The portions were large, and the price wasn't bad at all. I ordered an ice tea. I don't know what kind of tea they make, but I wish I would have asked, because it was so good!
Had a fantastic time at Bareback Grill in Pacific Beach! 🌴🍔 The atmosphere was chill and welcoming, perfect for a beach day vibe. The food was absolutely delicious – every bite was packed with flavor! Prices were a bit on the higher side, but worth it for the quality and variety on the menu. Service was top-notch too – friendly and attentive staff made the experience even better. Can’t wait to come back! 🌞🍻 #BarebackGrill #PacificBeachEats #FoodieFinds #BeachVibes #DeliciousEats
Totally hip little spot, playing 90s hits and serving delicious food. My wife and I got the Maui Wowie and Queenstown Fave (burgers), and the onion dip. The food was all fresh and delicious. The Maui Wowie in particular was great, as were the fresh made potato chips. We ordered our food to go. As I was walking back to the hotel, about 200 feet from the restaurant, one of the wait staff came running up behind me. They had forgotten to give me the sauces that come with their fries. They could have just let it go, but this server went the extra mile to make sure that my wife and I got everything we ordered. Really cool people. I didn't get her name, but thanks :) Will visit again.
Bare Back Grill was the perfect place to crash after a long day on the beach. The host's smile drew us in from down the block and we were seated quickly. All the food was delicious. The giant pretzel delivered in both quality and quantity. The grilled lemon with the fish and chips elevated an already perfectly-fried piece of haddock. The vibe was great, but still suitable to come in with your kids.
Staffs have always been friendly. I come back to this place for their fries, I love that hint of sweet & salty. Wish they gave a little more with the burgers. I’ve tried a few things on the menu: queenstown fave, the steak n chips (steak and mushroom on top of the fries) and the bare lil lamb. The bare lil lamb was good but I wasn’t fond of the “mint dressing” - i was expecting something creamy or buttery but it was just a minty jelly.
Was really good and liked all the sauces! Especially the wasabi! I think it's only a star down because 2 sliders is not quite enough. 3 would make that meal absolutely perfect. Great. Stuff!
We were visiting during the 4th of July holiday. This place is ways busy so we were surprised to get in with very little wait in less than 5 minutes we were sat. The staff were super friendly and patient with the kids when ordering. We started off with drinks I really enjoyed the Kelvin Heights cocktail while the hubby enjoyed the draft beer. We shared a huge pretzel. We dod not care for the mustard dipping sauce but really enjoyed the jalapeño cheese sauce. The kids were excited for the dino nuggets, but had to order another order and extra fries as it wasn't enough food if your kiddo is an older kid. The vodka cooler was another great drink to try. The blazin ahi with sweet potato fries was delicious. It was fresh and cooked perfectly. The coleslaw on top was super yummy. The wasabi aioli wasn't spicy as I expected. The hubby enjoyed the wagyu smash burger and said it had a delicious kick of heat. Overall a very good experience and would come back and enjoy on our next vacation.
This place is conveniently located and fairly easy to get to. Parking can be a little challenging but not a huge issue. We stopped here right after getting into town. The service was great, the people are friendly and the food and beer selection was good. They do have a kids menu which is a huge plus. Fast and friendly service and quality eats at a decent price.
We were looking forward to going to Bare Back Grill, my friends old favourite from when she lived here. While the food was tasty, the prices were very expensive. The service also wasn’t great, we were given knives and no forks, halfway through the meal we got the attention of our waiter to bring some forks over. I’m not sure it would be a place I’d recommend based on budget, with all the other options around.
This restaurant wasn't worth the price. Slow service. Tiny portions. The servers are being worked to death my poor management. Food was decent though. $110 for two drinks, lamb skewers and steak frites is way too much for bar food. Apparently New Zealand food is famous for astronomically-priced burgers? The menu is basically just burgers and prices are high -- even for PB. After tax and tip, the burgers are about $32 each. Beers are $13 after tax and tip. Wine and cocktails are about $18. Service is slow because there are not enough employees for a packed room. It took 10 minutes to get menus and another 10 minutes to get drinks. There was a slight panic when I ordered a glass of wine. Apparently, this isn't a wine spot. We didn't have napkins the whole meal. The servers were working their butts off though. This place is failing due to management not the servers. Portions are tiny and expensive. I paid $35 for two lamb skewers: maybe 3 ounces of lamb, a couple cherry tomatoes and a quarter of an onion. I laughed when they brought it out. My fiancee got a steak and fries for a similar price. It had a little bit more meat, maybe 4 ounces, but they smother the flank steak (cheap!) with mushrooms and gravy to make it look bigger. We immediately walked next store to the shawarma place to get better skewers for a lower price. Good luck out there folks. The mid-tier restaurants are dying in San Diego. If you want a burger, hit up Carl's Jr. Then go eat it at the beach for free. The industry thinks people are going to pay $200 for dinner. I think most of us are cooking at home or subscribing to the fresh meal prep companies that are secretly revolutionizing the food market.
Your bartender Saturday 3rd of January ruined the impression I had of your establishment. I asked for a house wine when I walked in. I get it you’re busy. But maybe hire someone faster this isn’t the first time I’ve seen slow bartenders there. I patiently waited only to receive a weird vibe from the guy. I then said I wanted to spin the $7 drink game. I explained I don’t drink beer, and that’s only because I’m gluten intolerant, not because I was being picky or difficult. He said , “ Then don’t PLAY!” What a rude answer! Just have common sense, it would’ve been another $7 or more plus the wings I planned to get. You guys lost my business!!! And I’m only one person , but I planned to take friends here. Your loss! Don’t be rude.
My girlfriend and I went here and were extremely disappointed. She got the steak and chips, which was comical. A couple strips of steak on top of a bowl of fries, and a tiny bowl of ceasar salad, for $28. The steak was okay. My wagyu smash was not much better. $26 and it wasn't even a full sized burger, probably half the price anywhere else. Was pretty standard too, nothing special. They lure you in with $4 mimosas but the rest of the menu is a ripoff!
