Superb birthday experience here for a close friend. Despite a line going out door the greeter was very welcoming & accommodating. Our server Emily an absolute superstar. The vibe in here is near perfect in that it is both lively & energetic and yet easy to have a conversation across the table. Food across the board is very good; I'd describe it as elevated comfort food. The Textbook cabernet sauvignon is in fact a textbook house red; very good indeed. For my Westwood friends this is their family's favourite restaurant and I can see why. Hope to return soon! 👍🎉

Hillstone is a great Santa Monica staple, and part of the Houston’s chain of restaurants. Book ahead because this restaurant is busy all throughout the day and walk-ins are usually only accommodated at the bar. We loved the artichoke spinach dip, the French dip sandwich, and the fried chicken sandwich.

Excellent sushi rolls of a non-trad variety, two were too much to finish for one person. Also loved the salmon grapefruit salad. Although they have a ton of staff they have a lot of tables so it was hard to get our server back but large menu so we will return.

Hillstone never disappoints. I love the bar at this location. Great service. Sort of surprising a cocktail is $18, but that is everywhere. The sushi is remarkably good for an american restaurant.

We had the best experience here! The food was unreal, one of the best meals we’ve ever had-which was an unexpected surprise after we came in last minute. The hostess on 12/30, I’m not sure her name was so kind and made sure my birthday dinner was special. The service was so fast, one of the appetizers took about 20 minutes and they refunded us for it, so sweet! Cameron our sever was great. Thank you 1212!

Cannot comment on the food, but they had a lovely happy hour cocktail menu. I got the cantaloupe Martini, it was good, but definitely more of an Orange Martini than cantaloupe. The service was good and the atmosphere pleasant. It's in a lively location and I really liked the photo booth they had.

My friends and I were just looking for a last-minute place to eat in Santa Monica and came across 1212, and wow… best decision ever. Every single thing we ordered was unreal. I got the wagyu meatball spaghetti and I’m still thinking about it — the meatballs were insanely flavorful and cooked perfectly. Our server Rico made the experience even better. He recommended the French bread to go with my pasta and it was the PERFECT addition — crispy, warm, and honestly a must-order. From the food to the service to the overall vibe, this place completely exceeded expectations. What started as a quick stop turned into one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. If you’re anywhere near Santa Monica, go here.

10/10 I’m not one to do reviews.. but this experience was amazing. Anna, our server, was friendly and efficient. She didn’t rush us, but paced our meal. The drinks were fun and delicious. We ordered 2 filets, sashimi appetizer, and a mushroom starter as well. We mentioned we just were married a few days prior and she excitedly told us to wait. She returned with a little rocket 🚀 firework with two complementary items. If we ever return to SM—this will be our first stop! TY

Just a couple blocks up from the ocean walk, great atmosphere in the promenade with great people watching. Rico was amazing and we got to be by the warm fire on comfy couches. Food was excellent, Rico suggested the popcorn shrimp and we loved it! Great happy hour. Make sure you stop here!!

The vibes in here were amazing! The service was also great, especially our server William who was really patient with our questions on the menu and gave great drink recommendations. We ordered the espresso martini and Kenny’s paloma along with some small shareables. Everything was great and my friend and I especially liked the oysters. Definitely would visit again!

A good place to stop and have a reasonably priced lunch. Food was good, service was fast, and only $18. Restaurant was nice and again. Menu somewhat limited due to prix fixe meals. I would eat there again.

It was our first time here and we really enjoyed it. It was on Sunday so they had a dj. Our server Anna was great and provided amazing customer service. I got the Cantaloupe Martini and the Lychee Martin and my friend got the Italian Dragon and the Cantaloupe Martini. They were all so good. Our fav was the Cantaloupe Martini. The Ambience is great they have outside and inside seating, we sat inside and it's very spacious. They also have a photobooth in the back. We came back later for happy hour which starts at 4pm everyday. My friend had beer and I had the Guava Picante and we shared a lemon drop. We look forward to coming back to try the food and more drinks!

I came to celebrate my mom’s birthday and this restaurant did not disappoint!!! The decor of this restaurant is perfect. Dim lighting on each of the tables with delicate flowers. There is seating outside, inside and upstairs. This time of year the restaurant was decorated for Christmas. Our server was William and he was awesome. When he found out it was my mom’s birthday he made sure she had all of the fanfare of a birthday celebration. Our food came swiftly to our table. My Cesar salad was light tossed with dressing and topped with a well seasoned salmon. I ordered a cocktail 🍹 mambo splash which was not watered down. The acoustics and art in this restaurant is spectacular. The women’s bathroom is large and clean. We had a wonderful time enjoying our meal and the atmosphere of this restaurant.

Carefully read the description and composition of the dish. It is our fault that we did not read it and took Hawaiian steak instead of the usual one. We do not like it. In addition, we did not like the fried fish and the sauce for it. Apparently, we are used to other tastes.

We love Hillstone! Have been to several locations around the country. The food is amazing and it always feel very welcoming with great service. Unfortunately, our service was a bit below expectations. Our server had to come back not once but twice to let us know what we had ordered was not available. Not sure if a kitchen issue or wait staff issue, but it was disappointing and disrupted the flow of the experience. Hopefully something they can tune up. Otherwise, great food and ambiance and we always enjoy.

My Wife and visited for dinner 10/12/25 we were regulars at Houstons in Manhattan Bch. we both ordered the Hawaiian Ribeye prepared perfectly pink center arrived hot to our table. unfortunately this is definitely a different cut than we’re use to my first bite was from the center of the cut and it was so tough it was undesirable i then tried the outer portion which is usually more fatty on this cut and it was perfect unfortunately there were only three bites there after trimming the majority of the fat. the mashed potatoes were great and so was the tabouli, as was our spinach artichoke appetizer. I also noticed the 🥩 steaks were rather thin when served which caught my attention immediately. our service was great reception and service staff we even had a great welcoming from the manager David. We really enjoy dining out and will definitely go back it just won’t be for steaks anymore.

Visited a new spot in Santa Monica thanks to an invite from my sister-in-law. We usually don't make the drive out that far, but I'm glad we did. It's a cute little restaurant on a lively street that seems like it could really come alive at night. Even during the day, there were plenty of families walking around, and I'd definitely come back just to explore the area more. Inside, the restaurant has an interesting vibe -- I was told it turns into a club at night, and I can definitely see the potential. Music was playing at a good volume, adding to the atmosphere. I had the Mambo Splash drink, which was the perfect amount of sweetness for me and the favorite out of the whole table. For food, I ordered the spaghetti carbonara with added shrimp, and also tried the Himachi sashimi as a second plate -- both were good but the sashimi was especially delicious ! Id for sure order the that again! The only downside was the service. While friendly, it was extremely slow. From ordering drinks, to getting our food, to finally receiving our check, we spent close to 3.5 hours at the table. For the food, I would definitely come back, but I'd hope for quicker service visit next time. It felt like it dragged in between everything! Took away from my experience.

We are big fans of Hillstone but on the 1st of Nov (without resy ended up at the bar) visit we were very disappointed by the surly attitude of the female bartender/server as soon as she realized we aren’t ‘drinkers’ albeit our food & nonalcoholic tab still added up to a 25% undeserved tip. It was the 1st time we’re trying out their burger & it was tasteless. All other food items are great including artichokes Hawaiian steak/prime ribs dover sole the best hot fudge sundae etc —except the burger —HiHo burger mmmuch better.

The service started out great. My friends all did bottomless. They wanted a nice place to eat and get unlimited drinks. Usually when I have gone to bottomless and participated with them, there are more than enough drinks. This time I noticed that my friends were empty glass a lot of the time. Now they started asking for refills and they didnt get them in a timely manner. We asked for ice and that took a good 20ish minutes. It was my friends birthday so they did the cheering thing and shot for him however during this event, to make noise during the celebration the aaotwr taps on the table and a drink fell all over my friend. She suffered from sticky jeans all day! It was an accident though. We joked later thinking she took one for the team because they finally refilled the drinks at that point. Usually when that happens though they take her drinks off the bill or something to extend an apology but nothing sadly. It was a mistake and the waiters were friendly, but not attentative. The food was pretty good in my opinion for a brunch place that def catered to people who wanted to get drinks to start their day. I give this place a 2.5. The veggie burrito i got was dry but it was edible. With the sauce it tasted good. They did let us stay for a good amount of time though so we are thankful of that.

I ordered lunch at 2:50 PM on November 10th, 2025. A male escort showed me to my table, and since I was wearing a hat, he told me hats weren't allowed in the restaurant. Thirty minutes later, another male customer came in, also wearing a hat. However, the escort didn't tell him that hats weren't allowed. I felt extremely insulted. I will never return to this restaurant.

We order take out tonight since they didn’t have any open seats to 8:45. I ordered at 5:40. We both got crispy chicken sandwich. When I picked up food I asked about French fries and I was told by the hostess they don’t travel well so it was only the sandwich. I said should have gotten a discount right and she made no comment.
