We've been here a few times & always thoroughly enjoy ourselves! Not only is the food just like "straight out of moms kitchen" (Providing mom can cook of course), the servers are always super kind & sweet, the portions are great (always have leftovers to take home) and dessert is just amazing. I've fallen in love with their peanutbutter pie!We will definitely continue dining here!

There is ample parking, ADA access and prompt seating. Inside of Blue Ribbon is well kept and very neat. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. Breakfast was served quickly and hot. The sausages are delicious. Observant waiter filled coffees and took care of every need. Excellent pricing. A most enjoyable establishment.

My family and I have been going to this restaurant since my sister and I were babies, and all the times we went here, we’ve had a very pleasant experience. We never couldn’t have been happier. Fantastic food, great atmosphere, very friendly staff, and the desserts are over the top. We will be trying to make more trips back here soon.

Had a fantastic waittress named Kelly who was informative, helpful, happy and excellent at her job. Food was hot and tasty. The salad, burger, fries and onions rings were outstanding, but the piece de resistance was the Bavarian Cheescake! I will be back again soon!

First time sampling the "Morning Glory," which was exquisite. Fresh coffee and danishes. There is in fact a vitrine full of pastries for purchase whole or in slices. Friendly older waitstaff, which always indicates a wholesome work environment. Bathroom tight but clean. Parking ample in the front and on the side. Booths very comfortable, with room for up to three smaller persons on each side. In December 2021, Larry Sharpe stopped at this location on campaign for NY Governor.

We really enjoyed every food item, and the "old school" diner ambiance. The wait staff were great and all the food came out quickly, but not rushed, so we could enjoy our soup before the entrees arrived without a long wait after we finished our soups.

We use to go here with my grandparents and the last time I was here was a little over 30 years ago. The restaurant has aged well. It is like I remembered with cases of baked cookies, muffins, beautiful cakes and pies and other delicious treats on display when you enter. We were seated at a spacious booth and our waitress was friendly and helpful. They have breakfast all day and as well as lunch dishes too. We ordered breakfast. Eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, hash browns and stuffed French toast (stuffed with their cheesecake topped with strawberries). There was a gracious plenty of food. It was hot and delicious. Definitely would recommend eating here.

Actually, we did a takeout with the Pear Pecan Salad that was excellent. The recommended honey mustard dressing was surprisingly the perfect match. The order was ready as promised and the entire experience was perfect. Looking forward to our next meal from Blue Ribbon.

The food was good, the service was prompt, about $35 for two people with one soft drink. You can spend pretty much what you want though from a desert to full on dinners.

Blue Ribbon has long been one of the best restaurants in Schenectady, and it continues to be a true blessing to our community. The new owners have created an environment where employees feel happy, valued, and safe, and the quality and hospitality remain outstanding. I completely understand why this place has been thriving for such a long time! Everything about this place is comforting, from the food, the service, to the interior design.

Wife and I went with a friend. They had open faced hot turkey sandwich and I had the special London broil sandwich. The girls both got soup & salad before the meal while I got soup. When their meal came, it has turkey (not deli meat), dressing, real mashed potatoes, cranberry and butternut squash that had obviously been baked, scooped out seasoned with nutmeg. Mine was two slices of London Broil that extended well beyond the bun, a small sample of coleslaw and a mound of fries. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was less than stellar but that was caused by an influx of over 30 people from a funeral. Staff handled the sudden influx with ease.

My table ordered the NY Strip & eggs with hash browns & toast, and chicken tenders with fries, & fried mozzarella sticks. Everything was great. The steak & fried eggs were perfect. The fries, tenders, & mozzarella sticks were all delicious. The staff & waitstaff were very attentive & courteous. The restroom is well maintained. The dessert display caught our eyes on the way in & out but we decided against getting some to go, only because we had a long drive in hot car.

Food is always delicious, have great soups. Their gyros are great. Breakfast items are very good and arrive quickly Desserts, oh yeah! They also have Blue Rose bakery detached.

I suppose a reply deserves a proper written review. I've visited this restaurant a few times, usually for family brunches, sometimes for lunch with the wife and always found it to be a great experience. The menu has a lot of American comfort food items you'd expect from a diner along with some unexpected treats. The service is always attentive and seemingly well staffed. Half the time the place is packed, but they manage to get you seated in about 10 minutes regardless. It seems these days too many restaurants aren't well managed and rely too much on decorations (atmosphere), hype and exotic menu items. This place just does a great job all around and the final bill won't leave you with regrets. Gotta love that desert counter too. 🤤

Blue Ribbon is truly a gem in Schenectady, with incredible food, warm hospitality, and a welcoming environment. The new owners have kept the tradition alive while making it an even more positive place for both staff and the community.

This will always be my favorite diner in the Capital District. I can't wait to come back. I miss their Greek salad and homemade 1000 Island/Russian and their cream of chicken and rice soup and the roast turkey meal and most of all their black forest cake. Always had great service as well. This place is legendary. Thank you for your great food and good service! I can't find the equivalent when I am in Japan.

The best thing I’ve ever had here is the Greek chicken and potatoes. The desserts are also awesome like the pistachio cheesecake. It’s ultimately a diner and not anything groundbreaking, but the staff are very friendly and attentive.

Our first time at Blue Ribbon. Our server (Shelly) was AWESOME. Very attentive and made sure to time everything just right so each course came out just as we were finishing the previous. You get ALOT of food with your order (soup and salad included). Our orders were up fast, served hot and tasted AMAZING. We were full and even had food to take home. 10/10 would absolutely recommend!

My perfect meal there would be their cream of chicken and rice, soup, a hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy on the side, followed by a piece of their amazing strawberry cheesecake. We stopped on our way thru for a quick lunch. Everything we absolutely delicious. I get a hot turkey sandwich pretty much everywhere that I see if on the menu. This one was perfect. I ate every last bite. The quesadilla for my daughters boyfriend was huge and surprise! Came with fries! My 7 year old son gets soup at almost every meal and he loved this soup. Noddles a lil mushy. His grilled cheese was picture perfect. My 17 year old daughter ordered breakfast. The best part of a REAL diner. Even had jelly for her toast! We one hundred percent will return. Hopefully soon. 🤤

This is the quintessential diner experience from my childhood in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s. Normal food like meatloaf, pork chops, pot roast, crispy fish fry, the menu is vast. Not larger than Cheesecake Factory but just as varied. Chicken, seafood, beef, pastas, the menu has something for everyone. Breakfast all day. The waitstaff never. Stops. Moving. It bustles in here and it’s so fun to be a part of on a Saturday. Just come here and try it. We got fish fry, The Blue Ribbon Burger, Cheesesteak sandwich and Gyros. The food is hot, fresh and properly cooked. Your waiter/tress brings it fast. Come hungry. There is an on-property bakery so come prepared to take food home. I said what I said.

Excellent food! We tried the Greek souvlaki with pork, spaghetti with meatballs and corn beef. The taste was excellent. For drinks lemon water and it was very nice the taste. The sweets were amazing!!! Baklava, Galaktoboureko and cannoli. We will eat again there for sure. The prices also were very good. The blue ribbon is everything a Diner should be. The menu is extremely large, even by Diner standards. I normally sit at the counter and the waitresses are quick, accurate, and full of personality. My main criticism of the place is that the desserts are too tempting, but I can usually resist. If not, everything is homemade. Great Diner choice for any time of day. Would you put the happy waitress sandwich back on the menu, please? Update 1/15/25-normally a 5, today a 3. Stopped in for lunch. Omelette with spinach and feta was overdone and very dry. The Greek salad was not impressive. One stuffed grape leaf buried in the salad. Beets in a Greek salad? Not in my experience. Ordered a toasted pita on the side and not sure what was done to it but the pita was a disc and the two sides could not be pulled apart. An off day at the Blue Ribbon but I’ll be back to try again.

Good local eatery with some interesting selections from breakfast items to dinner items. These guys are famous for their desserts including their cheesecakes. We came out here traveling and with no idea where to go we rolled up into this place. Service was very nice. Pricing was reasonable. Portions were good size. I tried half a dozen items on the menu. The Boston clam chowder was really nice and had some good chunks of clam. The Manhattan chowder was equally tasty and was the winner between my choice. The Reuben sandwich was really yummy but it would have loved to have seen a little bit more meat included. Fish and chips was really good. Greek salad was massive and very tasty. The cheesecake selection was huge and we tried two different cheesecakes both were excellent and it seemed that none of them you can go wrong with. In no ways was I overly thrilled with everything but I really enjoyed my meal and it was definitely a good find on my way to Boston.

Great service and the fish fry sandwich with fries is a lot of food. Yummy haddock and a side of slaw, too. The only disappointing thing is that we sat in the back room and it doesn't feel like a diner. Now I know to request! The pies and other desserts look incredible --next time.

I enjoyed my prime rib meal. However, I was a bit disappointed with the desserts! I had the coconut cake it had lemon in the cake. Nope, not for me. I took home a brownie. It was too cake and not chocolatey enough. My wife had the Boston Cream cake (they didn't have the pie), we would have liked a more custard filling and she took home 3 half moon cookies, similar to black and whites. They were a bit too sweet. The wait staff was wonderful and we will go back.

Hadn’t been in a while but food was fast. The ice tea was very good but $4 a glass. Side Bacon was thick crispy and generous portion. Ham and cheese omelet was decent. The Eggs Benedict was not appealing. We recommend avoiding this. You can get better elsewhere. Overall decent. $50 breakfast for two w out tip is the norm.

I recently tried the Blue Ribbon (diner food has been my latest fixation for some reason) and really enjoyed it! Loved the coffee, the western omelette was delicious, and the toasted cornbread—ugh, so good. The staff was warm and welcome, and the service was efficient. Went in hoping for great comfort food, but was definitely disappointed - other reviews raved about the food, but my chicken pot pie was bland, and what flavor there was tasted strange. My brother had the lasagna, and said it was okay, but not great. Probably will try another place next time.

Bought a vanilla cream vanilla cake but they are using frosting in place of vanilla cream in between the layers of the cake. A cheap and underhanded thing to do. See the pic. Half vanilla cream and half frosting instead of ALL vanilla cream between the layers. That's not on just the edge, it's half way in with frosting. It's your smaller cake. Making it from scratch is not the issue, being in business for X amount of years is not the issue. Busted cheaping out is the issue.

A southerner's opinion I am still in search for southern dishes. Feel free to comment with great places with their dishes to try. Biscuits and gravy I googled biscuits and gravy, so I tried this place. I'll give their biscuits and gravy a 4/10. Biscuits are dry, somewhat thick, no taste, soft but no fluff, and the gravy is a nice thick consistency, no taste (other than flour, a mere pinch of salt, and pepper) they give a generous amount of gravy (Lord knows you are going to need it to get the dry biscuits down but definitely have something to drink close by because the gravy sticks the dry biscuits to the back of your throat). NO PIC ADDED. I wasn't going to leave a review but I was very disappointed. Hopefully, Blue Ribbon Restaurant & Bakery will review and correct. Cheesecake Cheesecake (strawberry) pleased to say I'll give this a 7/10. The cheesecake alone is very thick, dense, moderate moisture, and no flavor (even for plain you can not taste an underlying flavor). The strawberries are delicious with a good amount of syrup which is needed for the thick and dense consistency of the cheesecake. Picture added. Staff The staff here was very friendly. Over the phone and in person. I enjoyed the small talk and smiles. The south is a very friendly place. Especially, to our guest. The staff here reminded me of home, minus their accents. I received my correct food, it was handled with care, and I didn't have much of a wait at all (the place was busy). Atmosphere BRR&B doesn't have a cozy draw you in setting. Overall view The south and the north are definitely different. Especially, when it comes down to food. The south is known for our flavors and good eating. Don't let my review deter you away. Please order and let me know your opinion. If nothing else. I wouldn't mind taking a break from cooking and baking to bring my family here just to experience their friendly staff and to give their other menu options a try. Who knows maybe the biscuits and gravy will be better the next go round 🤞🏾☺️.

Get a better menu online. Never know what vegetables are available. Vegetable 1, 2 or 3 dont help. Add the veggies of the day online.

The cream of chicken soup was good. The sandwich came out wrong. The server was nice and did a great job.

I ate there a few years ago with my mother. I had shrimp scampi. I had to walk away. I went outside and threw up. The scampi was bad like awful. They did say I can get something else to eat at no cost. I had steak even though my stomach was upset for tothe shrimp scampi. My mom brought the shrimp scampi home thinking it might of been me and could not eat that. She took one bite and spit it out said she never tasted anything so awful in her life. I hate leaving bad reviews but people need to know to watch out for the shrimp scampi. You don't know how long that's been sitting in the cooler or on a warmer.

We stopped in here for a late lunch and it was busy even at that time. I think people were there for their lunch specials. Portions were large and I ended up taking half of mine to go for later. I ordered the Crispy Chicken on Chiabata bread special. It came with fries and a small cup of coleslaw. Food was okay. Service was quick but we were forgotten a few times. We had to flag our waitress a few times.

Cheese omelet breakfast was gross. Bread texture was stale, the default cheese in the omelet is the world’s worst cheese - American plastic cheese. The hash brown was overcooked. Just bad. Nothing redeeming about the entire breakfast.

Unfortunately, this wasn’t a good experience for us. The restaurant feels very outdated, and the food was disappointing enough that we only ate about half of our meal before leaving. There was an unpleasant smell inside like a mix of mold and an old house which made it hard to enjoy the experience. The location also isn’t great, which added to the overall discomfort. The one positive is that the service was good and the staff was polite. However, based on the food and overall atmosphere, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

No thanks - tendons with fat served as ribs sandwich. Will not return. Nice staff who loudly said, "really what do you expect?". Very nice. Will not recomend.

No! No! Nooooo! We attempted to go there a few days ago. We were quickly seated, but then waited almost 20 minutes for a server to come over to the table. Yes, the place was busy, but the server walked past us a number of times and didn't even acknowledge us. Once they finally came over, they INSTANTLY insulted my young child, who almost immediately started to cry and felt beyond horrible about themselves. We sat there for a few minutes to calm down and then I told the server that we'd be leaving due to their treatment of my child. The server apologized and said "what if I buy your meal?" I suppose this is a nice gesture, but it certainly does not change the fact that you hurt a small child. I said thanks but no thanks. As we were TRYING to leave, the Manager or maybe one of the owners, attempted to give me a gift card for our next time there. I thanked him, but said we wouldn't be back, so we didn't need the gift card. We TRIED to keep walking, but he followed us, getting a little louder, causing a bit of a scene, asking a multitude of questions and trying to prevent us from leaving. I TRIED at least 4x to end the conversation and exit the restaurant with my child, yet he continued to persist, to the point where I needed to turn toward him and firmly tell him to "STOP!" It was getting scary and turning into an unsafe situation. He continued to persist and be aggressive, so I grabbed my child's hand and rushed us out of the restaurant. He tried to follow, but thankfully for us, there were other customers coming in as we exited, so they prevented him from following us any further. Once outside, my child, semi hysterically, said "Mommy! That was so scary! He was stalking us and wouldn't let us leave. It was so scary!" As a parent, I do everything possible to protect my little kid.....this includes insults from a grown adult and most certainly stalking and aggression from anyone. We will NEVER go back and I encourage others not to go there either.

Menu says jumbo burger but wasn't. Burger was thin and they were cheap with the fries. Thin like a pancake..portion size of meal was like a from a kids menu.

We have dined at Blue Ribbon and ordered takeout many times over the years, and the food was always consistently excellent in taste, flavor, and presentation. That’s why our recent experience was such a shock. We ordered food this past Friday, and it was so disappointing that we couldn’t even finish it — we ended up throwing it away. My mother’s meal, in particular, looked like everything had just been dumped into a paper bag, shaken up, and then placed in the container. I won’t go into further detail, but the presentation and quality were nowhere near what Blue Ribbon used to deliver. Honestly, it felt like something a two-year-old might have cooked, which was heartbreaking to experience from a restaurant we’ve loved for so long. I don’t know what happened, but I truly hope the new management can bring back the standards that made Blue Ribbon a place we could always count on for great food.

My husband ordered me a heart shaped cake for my birthday. Upon going to pick it up, they were unable to find it then turns out the baker never bothered to make it. They sent my husband home with a discounted cake that wasn’t anything I wanted. I loved this bakery and I always look forward to the cake on my birthday. I won’t be ordering again. Others please be aware, I don’t want anyone else to have their birthday cake ruined like me.
