Great local taco shop. Good selection of tacos and burritos
Good food, very friendly people, they prepared food really fast. Highly recommended
Best shrimp quesadilla ever! Really nice people also. Will be a frequent stop from now on
Breakfast burritos and tacos al pastor are amazing.
Great food for great prices. Highly recommend if you like a good burrito !
I had the carnitas tacos and holy cow, were they delicious. Great food for an awesome price. Staff was very courteous. Definitely recommend for all who love authentic Mexican food.
Had been to lots of Mexican food places in town, this is the first I have wanted to go back too. Chips in the nachos were fresh and delish! Breakfast burrito, a nice bargain and scrumptious!
This is a worth to stop! The food is fresh and awesome! I love running over there for lunch.
Hands down the best breakfast burritos I've ever eaten. Their red salsa is easily some of the best in the bay
Wow wow wow!!! Totally recommend number one spot here in Monterey!!! Green salsa is fire!!! I got a lengua burrito && my husband got a carne asada quesadilla the carne asada tasted fire grilled!!! You wont regret it!!!
I don't know how this place has the average rating it does. It deserves so much better: fantastic burritos, friendly staff, fun atmosphere
This place mite be pricey but lemme tell ya , you get your money's worth. Not to mention a finamenal taste and a very satisfying happy stomach Buen Probecho ,, to anyone that
The ham breakfast burrito my husband ordered was the size of my arm. I ordered the guacamole and chips and an order of rolled tacos. Way to much food but I couldn't make up my mind. They didn't have the shrimp cocktail, maybe next time. If you walk away hungry you did something wrong, huge portions.
friendly people... always ready to describe a certain dish if you've never had it. their food is always hot & delicious 😋!
Fish tacos are bomb! The Chili Verde burrito is one of the best I have had. Service is always good here and quick.
I go here about once a week. I get the breakfast burrito and the quesadillas typically. Looks like a hole in the wall place but it's clean and the food is great.
Five stars for the breakfast burritos! I’ve only eaten the breakfast burritos from here so that’s my 5 stars for those. If you looking for breakfast burritos this is the place.
I missed this place ever since the one close to my place moved. The next closest is in the next city over, but now that I found it, I'll be a repeat customer. The food is amazing!
Love the carne asada fries and carne asada burrito need to try more
Great jumbo chicken burrito with all the ingredients and excellent salsa on the side
Torta bread is great, most items consistently satisfy. And it’s open late, putting this place in a high percentile!!
Born and raised here in Seaside. Love this place. Carne asada fries are definitely my favorite. Staff is always nice to me, maybe because I'm nice to them. Either way they're great.
Amazing breakfast burritos. These things are huge and delicious, crispy bacon and just the right amount of cheese. Their red salsa is spicy and as good as their food.
Finally a place where you can get a burrito for $10 or less.
I still can't process how good the carne asada tacos were. Had them just before close too.
I love everything about this place. Good food for fair prices. They're well known for their breakfast burritos, but I haven't had anything on the menu I didn't like. It's more of a take out spot. It's my go-to for a good burrito.
My company sent us to Seaside for training, and even though I packed a lunch, the smells coming out of Papa Chevo's was extremely enticing. So my entire crew went inside, and I got a carne asada quesadilla. It was amazing! Packed with so much meat, I had to take half of it home with me. (And I'm kind of a big guy, I can usually put it away!)
Tiny taco shop. Great salsa. Affordable prices.
This place lead to a new rule of thumb in our house: if you see a sign advertising breakfast burritos all day, that's exactly where you should pick one up. This is without a doubt the best breakfast burrito you can get on the peninsula, and trust us: we've tried many. The tortillas are heavenly, the bacon is crispy, the (green) salsa is delicious, and the spicy carrots are zesty. One breakfast burrito should fill you up, but you won't regret leftovers. Call ahead for pickup to skip the line, which there usually is. No surprise there. Thanks for the reliably tasty pick me up Papa Chevo!
Ordered 5 breakfast burritos for some family and friends and they were a hit, Everyone asked where I got them. Their breakfast burritos are definitely my favorite thing there, I ordered on the phone and it was quick and easy and they were ready really quickly. Recommending a bacon breakfast burrito with salsa verde!
Great food fast service. If you like spicy salsa get the red one
The food was cheap, quick, and delicious!
I love this place. It was a staple of my meals in college. Cheap, large portions, and simply delicious. Don't miss out. I like the bacon breakfast burrito with beans. If I want leftovers, get it jumbo size. It is huge. California burrito is also really good.
I've been going to Papa Chevos for approximately 3 yrs now and always enjoy their fresh food as well as the fast service. I have enjoyed everything that I've ordered from their wide variety of menu items. You won't be disappointed!
The Adobada was at the top of the list of choices, so I got the burrito with adobada and made it a super. Delicious burrito, from first bite to last. Would highly recommend checking this place out. Doesn’t look amazing from the outside, but great food and very fast and friendly service.
Great food! Very friendly staff. Enjoyed our time here with friends. Breakfast burritos are HUGE for the price!
Favorite Mexican restaurant in the peninsula. My favorites are their carne asada fries, nachos, tortas, and their horchata never disappoints. So far, their newborn-sized jumbo burrito is the only platter that I can’t finish but it’s worth every penny. Make sure to go with an empty stomach!!!
Best taco and burrito shop in Monterey. Quick and easy. Love their salsa as well. Nothing like a good old Carne Asada burrito The breakfast burrito is out of this world as well
The street tacos are SO good! Great red & green sauces. I got the asada, carnitas, and adobado. Delicious! Great grab & go. Cashier was very nice & efficient!
They have awesome fish tacos and horchata. Great and fast service too.
The best I've found so far to my favorite San Diego taco shop Mexican food! So delicious that when I first discovered them I ate there several times in one week. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a reliably good taco shop.
Super burrito (not jumbo) carne asada burrito was great and plenty big.

Perfect burritos must try and cheap price Caught be surprised. 10 out 5
Food and staff are amazing. Gotta have my chorizo breakfast burrito at least once a week.
I am always happy when I get there late and I think that they have closed for the day, but they are open till midnight. The cashier is always friendly and he even remembers the way I order my food! Whenever I want Mexican food, I always come here first and foremost.
Love their Chile Relleno Burrito. Its my go to every time.
Adobada and chile verde are their best meats! Recommend the California style burrito with extra adobada and extra cheese - one of the guys who works the counter recommended it, and he wasn't wrong.
If you’re looking for a fire asada burrito or you want to try the JUMBO asada burrito which is Huge. This is the spot. Burritos are always fire and green salsa is the best!
Excellent large breakfast burritos! Quick and friendly service.

Food is great you can sit and its in a convenient like action needs desserts is the only thing But its a major go to for delicious consistent Mexican food and I'm a local
Don't let the size or location fool you; this place has great food. Usually pretty clean, staff is friendly.
Not bad, but not epic. The carne asada was on point and the red sauce was hot. A good choice for later dining
I ordered a jam torta but they gave me a jam burrito. I didnt tell them a just ate it. It was good either way The service was okay
Had the Machaca burrito. Hot, juicy, delicious. Packed full of meat. Only one complaint, why yellow cheese. Was expecting queso fresco or quesillo. Quick friendly service.
I love this place especially because you can get A very delicious fresh burritos ,I really enjoy the breakfast burrito the best
Cheap and good, what more can you ask for! It's sort of an old school drive-in place where you either walk up to an outdoor window or use the drive-in. Their whole menu is posted in the window with big pictures of everything; it makes it really easy to know what to order if you've never been there before.
Great food from a little place in a strip mall. Large menu, I had the Carnitas Super Burrito my brother had the Chili Verde, they were yummy. The green salsa was my favorite, the red was the hotter of the two. Enjoy!
It isn't perfect, and there is some debate as to which location (here or Marina) is best. I've had both, and each is better in its own way. This is also one of the only places you will find Carne Asada fries. Is it worth it? Yes. It is both good and cheap.
So delicious. Got to go. Paid for a large chips and salsa. No salsa in the bag when I got home. Fish tacos and chips very good.
Place was clean. Service was quick and friendly. Food was ok. A bit dry. Would recommend.
food is good.. we just got to go. its a quick taco fix. forgot the pix. carnitas and corn tortillas is the best combo.
I like their Chile Verde burritos a little expensive for it being on the smaller side but edible that is if they even put meat in ur burrito all in all its yummy

Good food👍 although i feel egg, bacon, sausage, and cheese burrito shouldn't be $10+
Foods ok for the price. The menudo is good. Prices have been going up as the products get smaller.
Tacos are fire but the shrimp cocktail is nasty and is like water and tomato sauce with shrimp thats what it tastes like and pretty much that is all thats in it beside a few onion pieces and avocado pieces thats sums it up
Food is a 5. Staff is rude. Can't articulate how uncomfortably awkward the young hispanic girl at the front, has made me and who I'm with feel. Food is phenomenal but nothing but awful staff experiences and its a known fact around here.
Food was cold. Got food poisoning. Have been sick for 3 days now. Not to happy about this.
Used to be my favorite spot for burritos, but now you have to buy a super burrito to get rice & beans added. Way too expensive for a simple burrito with no rice & beans. There's a taco trailer at the Food Corner store. Much better for around the same price.
A few months ago I would have given this place AT LEAST four stars for their consistently friendly service and amazing food; now I struggle to even give them two because their prices have gotten ridiculously outrageous and THEY STILL HAVEN'T UPDATED THEM ON THE WEBSITE. Total bait and switch for anyone who calls in an order, expecting to pay what is advertised... only to arrive for pickup and find that everything on the menu has gone up a whopping SIXTY PERCENT on average! Best chile verde I've found in years, but those $8.50 burritos are now $14. As many others have stated, their rolled tacos are second to none - but a dozen of them will now set you back TWENTY DOLLARS. I get that costs have gone up, but a jump that huge all at once was more than a bit shocking; and failing to show the correct ones ON YOUR OWN WEBSITE, several months after they changed, is downright shady. There are plenty of options closer to home that are almost as good (and still nowhere near as expensive) so it's going to be tough to convince us to go back after this horrific sticker shock has left a sour taste in our mouths... no matter how good the food may be. P.S. The one exception to this seems to be the breakfast burritos. Their price went up too, but it was a reasonable adjustment... and we agree with many previous reviewers that theirs are among the best we've ever eaten (we're partial to the ham, but the whole lineup is delicious). And since they're available all day long, at least you can still get ONE meal here at a decent price, even for dinner.
I got their beef taco and burrito combo plate to go, one hungry night. Good taco, with a crispy, fried shell and shredded beef. Dipped in their green tomatillo sauce to add some tartness, it was good. The burrito, though, had grilled onion and bell pepper mixed with the beef, which wasn't bad, but I think those and some black pepper were the only seasonings. Not bad, just...bland. The rice and beans were good, too, just...kind of bland. I had a serviceable dinner, but with the vast variety of Mexican restaurants in California, I think I could do way better.
So we loved our food…but what is with barely any toppings on the California burrito? I saw a similar comment/review from someone else- I definitely expected guacamole or avocado and sour cream but didn’t get any of that. Thankfully we took our food to go so I was able to add some sour cream. You all should really consider adding guacamole, I was able to sneak some guacamole from my child’s taquitos and it was delicious. Here’s a picture of my sad California burrito lol. We loved the nachos, taquitos and other burritos we got- but the California burrito really missed the mark.
I found Papa Chevo's on Google. It seemed to have a good rating based on the food and quick service. The service was good but, for the price the food was just O.K. and a small portion served on a paper plate. Not enough to bring me back next time I'm in the area.

We are big fans of Papa Chevo’s Drive-thru spot in Marina, CA & we always get their delicious Carne Asada fries. This time, however, we stopped by their 2nd spot in Seaside, CA for dine-in thinking it was going to be the same. It was NOT the same…. The fries were super skinny & burnt; even the salsa didn’t taste the same… if you want the Carne Asada fries go to the drive thru spot instead
Needed food at a late hour and always there for ya. Hard working employees. I respect that.

Their food was tasteless and expensive. I like the one in Marina. Not sure if they're the same owners but, totally different flavors.
Tacos were bland and cold. Steak was chewy. Tomatoes in taco? Building was cold as hell and chips tasted gross.
You can say I'm being picky because I'm Latino but being Chicano from California we know our Mexican food and when it came here it was a little bit less than a standard I will hold them to to get it they're in a tough competition market being near the ocean Monterey but does mean you lose the focus of great food good burritos but i won't be a repeated customer the chile verde no bueno the chicken had way too much attitude unexpected flavors as if it was fajitas extra spicy and the bean burrito with rice mostly just frijoles with a few grains of rice but the salsa was good I'll give them that so salute
Food was good, but you're either the only place that doesn't put avocado or guacamole in a California burrito, or you purposely ripped me off last night after you told me the California burrito was one of the best things to order. That's messed up. Won't ever be back or recommend to anyone.
The is a basic place to eat if you are hungry. I've been here quite a few times as it I'd close to my office. I ordered several different items and the results are standard across the board. The add lots of lettuce and onions to everything, and I'm sure it's attempt to circumvent the rising food prices. Though I'm sure I will be eating here again, it's really out of convenience. Go up the road to the grocery story they have a full cafeteria and the food there is amazing!
The food is OK. I loved the horchata, but my burrito was nothing to write home about. It is a small restaurant with not great upkeep. If you order food here, order to go if you can. The dine-in experience leaves you feeling ready for a shower.
asada tacos bland, no limes lemons, no carrots , jalapenos , offered
I got food poisoning eating here and my friend found a toothpick in his burrito. Stay away from this place if you value your life.
Dont go here!!!! They are racist! !!! I tried to order what should of cost me $16 and the guy tried to charge me $32 and some odd change... double what it cost!!!! They saw me as a tourist and white so I'm guessing they thought they could rip me off!!!! Shame on you guys!!!!
I think they thought I was Hannibal Lecter or something it smelled and looked like I was eating human flesh it was the most disgusting thing I had ever seen in my life they had to refund me $26 for my meal that was horrible I will never suggest that anyone go there ever I suggest that the health department gets in there and sees what they're really feeding people and shut them down you never know you missing a dog or a cat
Honestly I’m very upset. I ordered a carne asada burrito, I didn’t know I had to ask for beans and rice in it. I literally only got a tortilla with meat in it … 😐
Everything bomb! But the girl with the nose ring had a bad attitude I don't know why. She is one of those girls that will make me not go back unfortunately, if it wasn't for her bad attitude I'd probably give this place five star yeah it was that bad
These ppl have no customer service what so ever and the food is over priced, another thing to point out is don't rely on the time they say they close because they close whenever they feel like it,they take advantage that the owner doesn't know or do anything about the employees working there at that location that close whenever they feel like it.
Went here for a Carne asada burrito, meat was extremely chewy. Like that chewy part of a steak that nobody eats. Every piece of meat in that burrito was like that. It also had way too much rice, won't be coming here again
Food is extremely bad., the carne Asada was old and dry. There isn’t any customer service. You order and you pick it up when it’s ready. It’s not brought to your table.
I've been a coming this establishment for 15yrs and I must say I am far from impressed each with this food I have to say the food quality has gotten worse and worse throughout the years , the meat is dry over cooked and has no type of seasoning or flavor not worth the amount of money they charge
I spent $8 for approximately a cup of rice and beans. If a customer asks for something to be left off, leave it off. Guacamole makes me violently ill and of course my meal is absolutely smothered in it. Can’t even remove the top layer it’s that bad. I’ve never had this problem with the girl cashier.
Ordered chicken enchiladas. Chicken was drier than your ex girlfriend’s elbows. Could not for the life of me cut the enchilada with the cutlery provided. They should’ve gave me a chainsaw. Chicken was brown. Absolutely disgusting. I’m typing this from my bathroom.
I would call this place a real mexican restaurant, except for the salsa that could be better and a little detail with the condiments, they are very stingy with all of them. NO LEMONS is the reason i'm giving this place a one star review, I don't consider a nice mexican place when they don't have all the condiments that make up the rich mexican food and therefore I think it deserves this and less. If I ever comeback to this place, which I doubt, I hope they consider having a bar with lots of condiments and salsas. They don't give you anything unless you ask for it, what is this McDonald's??? I hope they do get better cause the food was good, the experience was not.
Ordered a chicken burrito and it was unseasoned shredded chicken with rice. That's it! No beans, cheese, or even seasoning on the chicken. This place used to be so good :( not worth the money at all
The carne asada fries are great but little by little the portions are less and less and more expensive.
They are a rip off when it comes to paying for food 3 dollars for one small street taco and 5 dollars for one queso Beria taco
