I consider myself an aficionado of great food in the Walnut Creek area. This is one of the finest restaurants for quality of food I've ever had in a long time. Non bias. I'm not a food critic taking money from someone. or getting free food. This place rocks. This place is one of the finest restaurants in Walnut Creek but hard to find because because of the parking. Try it.You will love it

Wow, what an incredible meal we had tonight at this adorable, authentic restaurant! The linguini and clams were sheer perfection, as was the chicken marsala. We finished with tiamisu that was light and delicious. Our server was friendly and she provided excellent suggestions regarding the menu. We had so much fun here! This was the perfect ending to a hectic week. I highly recommend this Walnut Creek gem!

My girlfriend and I celebrated Father's Day for dinner. The food was amazing. We split the Papardelle al Ragu and the Vitella Romana and the Beet Salad. The meal was wonderful. The service was outstanding. The couple next to us was starting desert as we sat down. The waiter looked at the ladies Tiramisu someone had delivered to her and apologized. "That is too small a piece. I will bring you another." A minute later, the owner brought a larger piece to her and apologized profusely for someone bringing a small piece of tiramisu the first time. We enjoyed the wine and cocktails as well. We will definitely be back.

I loved my experience at Benvenuti last week. Our server was really helpful and gave great suggestions. The rice balls were out of this world. You have to get them. I also really enjoyed the beet salad. For my entree I selected the gnocchi. The gnocchi were PERFECT. The pesto sauce they came in could have used some salt but was tasty. I will be back and totally recommend that you head to Benvenuti as soon as possible. #pillowgnocchi

Many delicious Italian dishes to choose from. Smaller place but room for groups of people. Whole familes welcome, nicely decorated, beautifully set tables and attentive staff. Yummy authentic desserts, hopefully you will be there when they have the lemon cake. Has a well stocked bar

Excellent Italian restaurant! The food was amazing, very nice and casual Walnut Creek Bay Area feel, staff was fantastic. Everything was smooth from arrival and throughout the serving of drinks appetizers and entrees. Highly recommended for the adult crowd!

A very relaxing environment with indoor and outdoor heated seating. We started with a delicious shrimp salad starter and moved onto the main meal of Lasagna and Bistecca with mushrooms. Excellent choice of wines and Brady beers added the Biscotti with Lemoncello and VSOP and ended with a delicious expression. The service was excellent, you will enjoy a great meal here.

My fiance and I have been coming here since before their rebranding. The remodel is very pleasant and the food has stayed prime. Traditional wine and food pairings and a pleasant and knowledgeable staff make for one of our favorite places to eat. Get the bruchetta.

There's COVID19-safe outdoor dining and the food was good. My salmon dinner was $32 plus beverages, tax and tip. Pasta is less expensive; steak would have been over $50.

Great intimate spot. Great menu selection, service was excellent, the place was clean. Can believe it took us 4 years to find this little gem. I’m still dreaming of my next trip to enjoy their delightful menu.

Benvenuti is a wonderful dining experience for a special occasion, or any time to enjoy excellent food, wine, service, and a festive experience in their beautiful, welcoming venue. The menu is extensive, varied, and always tempting. We've been enthusiastic fans since it was modernly redesigned and opened as an even more wonderful dining treasure! This family-owned restaurant is a top favorite among our family and friends!🌟 We recommend it very highly.

Amazing establishment with fabulous service and delightful food! We have gone a couple of times. The service is always impeccable and the food is so good. Anything that you order is sure to be great! The owners run this small delight and they work tirelessly to ensure that everything goes well. When we went back, the owner recognized us and was so friendly and kind. This is definitely my favorite spot in Walnut Creek for food…you should definitely try it.

Great food, drinks & nice atmosphere. The lemon cake dessert was so delicious. Went to dinner with my husband and another couple late March and had a wonderful dinner. Made a reservation to go back and take my in laws as they were visiting for Mother’s Day weekend. We were a party of 6 (4 adults, 2 kids age 9&11). We sat at a table outside in the way back in the doorway of neighboring businesses. The business’s front door outside bright light came on halfway through dinner. Food was still good. Was it the best table in the house, no. It may be obvious but I would consider this as adult dining experience, not family. There was no kid menu option, my son did enjoy his $22 lasagna. I will come again just with no kids. Also, being understanding that places are still figuring out bus. during these crazy times. We were happy to be able to go out to a nice dinner.

Always a wonderful meal. Their specials are innovative and good. Last night my husband had a fried rice and cheese meatball appetizer. It may sound strange, oh but it was delicious. Giuseppe, who has waited on us the last two times we have been there is the most effervescent person there is. He's just terrific. We'll be back.

Wow! 🤩 Well, I’ve been here many times but I specifically came here tonight for the espresso martinis. I told the bartender how I had the best martini the week before, and the secret ingredient was the whipped cream and she tried it for me… hands-down, the best espresso martini with whip cream on top.

This little gem is tucked away near the Walnut Creek Police Station, but it is well worth the trip. The interior ambiance is very modern and spare, and it is a bit loud due to hard floors and a hard ceiling, but it is not overpowering. The menu is fairly extensive for purely Italian food, and everything we ordered was absolutely excellent, in particular the burrata appetizer and the boar meat ragout pasta. The desserts were also a delight, especially the bread pudding. It is not cheap, but not outrageous, simply on the higher end of good Italian food in this area. Overall a great trip and I would certainly go again

One of the best Italian spots in the Bay, hands down. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and we had an amazing experience. The staff was so friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious! We came for authentic Italian dishes, and this place served exactly that. We will be coming back!

Simply the best Italian food in the Bay Area, hands down. The chicken marsala and salmon fettuccine melt in your mouth. Their award-winning cocktails are handcrafted by the lead server Giuseppe. The owner, Angela, makes all of the delicious, authentic desserts. Benvenutti is a MUST VISIT restaurant of Walnut Creek!!

Great food, nice atmosphere, excellent service, and friendly staff make you feel welcome. My sister & shared a beet salad, which they split on two plates for us. The artichoke appetizer was full of flavor and the main entre of salmon on a bed of orzo and Swiss chard cooked perfectly. The tiramisu to finish was delicious. Don't forget to try their signature drinks. The Spring gin & tonic and lavender lemon drop are great! For trouble-free parking, park across the street at the library in the underground parking

Quality food. Lasagna so good I ordered takeout a week after enjoying it in house for a family celebration meal. And our gluten free person was able to scarf down Clam Linguine with a gluten free pasta substitute that she loved, and added to my later takeout repeat. The decor is “fresh” and the only down side was that they were quite busy and the service was a little slow. We will be back though!

What is not to love here! Staff is the best, prices are great for what you get, and the place is very welcoming. Only suggestion would be to add sound deadening ceiling panels as it can get rather loud when full as they have all hard surfaces throughout.

Whenever I travel to the East Bay for business I eat here. The food is wonderful. I like standards like lasagne or rigatoni bolognese. The service is also very good and it’s in a nice location of downtown Walnut Creek. They make a perfect dry vodka martini too.

Well well, hello again old friend. The more things change, some stay the same, and I'm happy to report that Benvenuti is still absolutely crushing it in all aspects. I haven't visited them for years, as I was living out of state. However, today ended that streak and reminded me just how much I've missed everyone here. Angela, the proprietor, whom I haven't seen in years as I mentioned above, greeted me by name once I sat at the bar. That level of service is almost unheard of these days. Felt like I was coming back home in a sense. Heck, there's been times my own parents haven't greeted me that warmly. Angela is just the best. Speaking of other people who are awesome. Dena, one of my all-time favorite bartenders anywhere, was working and gave me the biggest smile when I sat down. I was here on her first shift ever, and, well, she's definitely evolved her craft since then. Friendly as always and has the cocktails down to a science. Seamlessly able to complete multiple tickets at a time while holding down a conversation. Well done Dena, well done. Now for the food...Chef's kiss to the entire kitchen brigade (hi Manny) Food here has always been a staple, and yet they've somehow managed to outdo themselves this time (see attached photos). Everything was perfect, spot on perfect. Cooked to the perfect temperature with flavor for days, remarkable. Benvenuti has, and will continue to, count me as a fan. This is the definition of what a restaurant not only should be but aspire to. See you again soon!

S
Sarah Schuyler

Amazing service and food and drinks! Dena was the greatest and such a sweetheart! She was so friendly and helpful, I hope to see her every time I go now! I had the lemon passion fruit drink and it was delicious and everyone absolutely loved their cocktails and all the appetizers. Honestly the stars of the show were the desserts- we had the cheesecake and the affogato and the bread pudding and each one was so yummy.

There is no better Italian restaurant in the area. The food is always great, and the drinks are amazingly delicious. The family behind this restaurant is very kind and cares about everyone who dines there. Unlike many other Italian restaurants, the deserts here are phenomenal! Cakes are always light and fluffy and full of immense flavor! You may walk in as a guest but leave feeling more like part of the family.

I am a huge Italian food fan and I can honestly say that this is a great Italian restaurant. Our table feasted and everything was amazing. I would recommend getting the fried cauliflower (appetizer) and the lasagna, both were phenomenal. The service was delightful. I would describe it as a cross between a high-end restaurant and a family diner. The servers were incredibly professional without being pretentious. The staff seem to be very happy which says a lot about how the family restaurant is run. I never had the pleasure of coming here before the big renovation, but the new decor is beautiful. The bar is big and really well done. If you have come here since the reopening and thought it was a little loud, don't worry, I am told that the owner is aware and is working on a fix. Overall the place is a lot of fun and has great food. What more could you want in a neighborhood restaurant? As a bonus, check out the garden out front! It has all kinds of herbs, leafy green vegetables and gorgeous flowers. The red kale is beautiful.

We went for their winter Cioppino special. It was fantastic! We enjoyed the Gnocchi with Gorgonzola Cream Sauce for an appetizer, split a Caesar salad and we both ordered the Cioppino. The broth was very flavorful and loaded with artfully arranged, perfectly cooked seafood. We enjoyed dessert too. They offer a nice wine list too. Everything was so very delicous! We drive over 30 miles just to go here. We have never been disappointed! It is a very special place.

Excellent restaurant. Higher class but still casual dress. Food is outstanding! The Chicken Marsala was delicious. Sauce was creamy but rich in flavor. The fresh vegetables were wonderful. Came with polenta. Usually not a fan but this was fantastic! Grilled maybe? They have the pastry chef in-house. Tiramasu was excellent. Only $12 for a huge slice!!!!

For me, there's no better way to describe their Linguini Vongole than PERFECT. The pasta and manila clams were cooked to perfection. The sauce was light but deeply flavorful. It's not a complicated dish, but many places don't do it as well as Benvenuti Ristorante. We'll definitely be coming back!

Really good Italian food. Service staff at the bar are attentive and friendly. The wait staff for meals seemed rushed and under pressure, perhaps they had too many tables to handle? The food itself ranged from very good pasta to exquisite seafood. The side dishes seem to be prepared as carefully as the main course. Attention to detail by the chef is top notch! Ambience is lacking because the tables are close together and the restaurant is very, very noisy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I absolutely love this place!! The fettuccine was hands down one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. The noodles had that homemade quality to them. They were soaked in flavour and cooked perfectly. Every bite was rich and satisfying. They definitely didn’t skimp on the seafood as it was abundant and added so much to the dish. The chicken marsala was a hit with my boyfriend - he couldn’t stop praising it and said it was juicy and full of flavour. This restaurant has truly exceeded our expectations in every way. We’ll be coming back here again and again. Thank you for the amazing service and food *chef’s kiss* 😍

We had a wonderful experience here. First time here to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. She loves Italian and we’ve been to a lot of places even in Italy. This is closest to the taste we had in Rome and Florence. I liked the roast cauliflower, the sauce is amazing. All pasta dishes are authentic! Attentive and friendly staff. The atmosphere is great. Definitely will come back.

We came here for our first time on Valentine's Day. Highly recommend! Really good food. I typically don't eat cauliflower but omg it was the best cauliflower I've ever had. Came due to the good reviews and was not disappointed. Service was friendly and attaintive. The burrata was so delicious, fresh! The seafood pasta also had fresh tasting ingredients, al dente pasta and delicious sauce. The veal was ok, a bit on the tough side. The pumpkin cheesecake was good!

Solid Italian food, been here several times. I like a majority of what we order but it can be a bit “hit or miss” with some of the items. However they have a great happy hour, good appetizers, and a some delicious pasta dishes.

Food was good, service was a little slow, but it was a Sat night & very buzy... took a long time to receive food and drinks we ordered. we ordered the garlic bread as an appetizer but it came at the same time they brought the salads... it also took way too long to get the second round of drinks for the table. But it's a very nice atmosphere the restaurant seems to be doing quite well. very busy many people waiting for a table. give it a try

I like the listed menu and decided to try it. Send like a more traditional italian restaurant with the dishes. Tries the gnocchi since all their pasta is supposedly made in house. It came with a nice pesto sauce and some asparagus, but also the dollops of ricotta, which were unnecessary. Thinly sliced bread and a great tomato vinegar sauce came as well. Wines are expensive when ordered by the glass, but everything was tasty

J
Justin Ferrara

Authentic Italian ownership that lends to a wonderful atmosphere. My only issue with this restaurant is that I can't help but get the feeling the menu is watered down to appease the American palate. The prices are high and the menu options are pretty typical in generic Italian restaurants. I know they can do better and hope they will. I recommend this place and will return in hopes of finding menu options that reflect Angelina's passion for cuisine that speaks to her Italian history.

G
Gomi Male

The service is great. The food is quite good. The portions are right sized - not too much. The appetizers are fairly small - each good for 2 to 3 people. If more in your party, get more. Prices are moderate. I would recommend this restaurant.

M
Masha Bykin

The food was amazing... our group of 8 loved everything on our plates. The service was a bit off. We waited almost 30 minutes for a table, despite having a reservation. A salad never came, and we had to ask about a missing entrée 10 minutes after the others came out. It may have been especially busy, but the prices are on the high end, which sets higher expectations.

We enjoyed the food. My wife really enjoyed the lasagna. I was pleased that they prepared the gnocchi with alfredo, even though it was not listed on their menu. We really appreciated the good service of our waiter.

The food here is a feast for the eyes and the palate. Everything comes out of the kitchen tasting. Wonderful and looking beautiful. The pastas are made in house with Italian ingredients. The service is a little slow although they are friendly and upbeat. Don't forget to get desserts. These are made in house and they are to die for.

J

The staff was amazing, so helpful with my family and toddler! Highly recommend just based off the service! The entree I got though wasn't anything spectacular. When you pay close to $30 for a plate of pasta you expect it to be the best you have ever had. While it tasted good, it wasn't anything I would ever seek out to order again.

N

I came here for Happy Hour. The place is cute, clean and has delicious food. I was definitely disappointed by the portion sizes and options. This place is pretty pricey, and for having under 10 items on the happy hour menu, I was surprised when they ran out of of one of their few options. Instead of prosciutto and melon, we had prosciutto and peaches. The lavender Moscow mule was great, and they did have several unique cocktails on their menu. However, when I go for a happy hour, I typically like to see shareable appetizers, so minestrone soup and Caesar salad seem like a desperate attempt to get people in the restaurant during non-peak hours. For 5:30pm on a weeknight, this was pretty empty, with only two other parties at the bar. I personally wouldn’t return for happy hour but would come back for an actual dinner since the menu wasn’t much more expensive but had much better options. I’d suggest Il Fornaio as an alternative for comparable quality, but larger portions and better happy hour deals.

Pretty good restaurant in Walnut Creek for some classic Italian dishes. The dining space is clean and gives more of an open family feeling to the place. They do also have a nice bar by the front that is kind of separated from the rest of the dining area. The drinks are a little hit or miss here, though. They do skimp on thr alcohol a little bit here, so make sure you order a more liquor-heavy drink or stick with their selection of wines. The food is great and really delicious. There was nothing that our table did not enjoy eating. They do have changing specials, and I highly recommend trying them. The desserts were also very good. Make sure to try their tiramisu since they do give a good portion of it. Overall a great place to take a date or the family.

This high end Italian restaurant is Located in downtown Walnut Creek. It’s not where the busy part of it though. And if it’s your first time going, you’ll have to slow your speed because it’s easy to miss, the sign is not easily seen. However, it’s a beautiful restaurant, especially the outside dining. They do allowed dogs and love that they accept reservations. It is a bit pricy but might say it’s standard price for Walnut Creek area. The food was delicious! The taste is worth the price. We had a couple of appetizers: calamari (love that it was not overly breaded), roasted cauliflower, and garlic bread! Now the garlic bread is something to talk about: not overly powerful garlic and cheese, served on a warm and pillow soft bread. The entrees were: special of the day “Truffle Fettuccini with Prawns,” Linguini with roasted tomatoes, Steak with broccolini and potatoes, and Salmon over orzo pasta and Swiss hard. All beautifully plated and food tasted phenomenal. Our server was lovely, though sometimes we couldn’t hear her because there was a huge party next to us celebrating someone or something. But they were nice, they apologized for being loud. It would be nice if they had a room for big parties but they don’t have the space. Overall experience was great: good food, great atmosphere and customer. Can’t wait to go back!

The chicken marsala over salted, one person ordered the Bolognese with meatballs but no meatballs cause they didn't like them and just wanted Bolognese, I tasted the Bolognese flavorless. I ordered the sausage with mushrooms and peas, also flavorless. I tasted the texture of sausage but no sausage flavor, the pink sauce tasted like a can of unseasoned tomato sauce but watery. My cortado had no milk, it was a baby Americano but I like black coffee so it was still good but incorrect. The server Giuseppe was the best part of the whole experience. He was friendly and when they brought me a regular pasta instead of the gluten free pasta with less noodles ( I like saucy pasta) he had them turn my plate around in about 10 minutes. So my table was still eating. The grilled artichokes were delicious.

Professional vibe, great staff, food came quickly. It's just I didn't like the food. Ordered their house special Boar pappardelle and Casarecce sicilliane. The latter was mine and the alcohol in the sauce didn't render out and I tasted mostly just fennel. The sausage and peas was delicious but the sauce wasn't there.

3.5 stars Food was average to solid, but didn't knock my socks off. Prices were okay but expected a little better based on other reviews. Went on a Thursday night...nice service and pleasant atmosphere.

Service was amazing and our large group had a wonderful experience eating here. Unfortunately the food didn't really hit our palettes. Caesar salad was yummy but nothing special 4, lasagna was a bit plain in flavor 3, and the pesto gnocchi was pretty rich 2 and one note. Other family members did not really seem to care for their meals either. All in all the restaurant was very beautiful, service was truly excellent, food was pricey and just not that great. I wouldn't personally choose to eat here again but based on the stellar food reviews, maybe you should try it!

I have mixed feeling about this place. The waitress was kind and very helpful. She suggested a couple of items from the menu and she was right. However I decided that I wanted to ordered the veal since it's my favorite Italian dish. Unfortunately the veal was too salty and the side dishes did not blend well. My wife was happy with her choice and definitely tasted better than what I ordered lesson learned should have listened to the waitress suggestion in the first place.

I went to this restaurant a while ago and the food is good. The only thing I dislike was the fact that the waitress tipped herself 20%, I believe it should be up to the client to tip based on the service a client gets during dinner. That's like taking money out of your wallet without your approval.

The food was average, in my opinion. For appetizers, we got the calamari, which was fine, and the artichokes, which were awful to try and eat and were nothing special to taste. For entrees, our table ordered the vitella romana (veal) , ravioli formaggio, Papardelli al Radu with meat balls, and salmone pasta. The veal looked and tasted like a cheap microwavable turkey dinner with a little gravy on top. The Ravioli was disappointing because of how small the portion was. However, the Papardelli tasted great, and the meatballs were very well cooked and flavorful, as well as a large portion. The Salmone was average, but a good large portion. When it came time for dessert, we all decided on the ice cream, but only when we were ready to order the waitress told us their freezer was having complications, so we ended up not getting any desert at all.

The best thing was the garlic bread. Pasta was a little overcooked, and the flavor was underwhelming! Not a bad meal. Just ok!

Giving 2 stars because we ordered food for takeout yesterday and we are feeling pretty ripped off. First of all the food was good BUT the portion sizes that were given to us were very small. We ordered 1 appetizer, 2 meals, and a dessert and we were both still very hungry after. My $22 lasagna was given to me in a takeout box approximately 4”x5” and the lasagna itself was barely 2”x2.5”. The garlic bread which was made in house was about the size of a normal slice of bread cut into 5 thin strips but it cost $8? I understand food prices are high with COVID-19 and restaurants are trying to stay afloat right now but don’t skimp on the food when you are charging $20-$30 a plate.

food was tasty but incredibly heavy. fried cauliflower came in an OCEAN of oil as did the ginger carrots. If I wanted to drink oil, I would have asked for a glass. seared fish was excellent -- but thank goodness I asked for the sauce on the side. it was again super heavy and tasted like flavored oil!

Used to be....4 years or so ago, the BEST Italian Restaurant in the Bay area. The last two times we ate there the food was HORRENFOUS! My wife ordered a chicken dish and got a pork...pork that literally couldn't be cut. The menu has changed much for the worse

I paid $120 for 2 steak dinners, and my steak tasted burnt with zero seasoning on it, terrible taste. My husband didn't like his either. The food was cold, luke warm at best. The gravy looked very dark like it had been put in the micro wave. I asked for stake sauce and was told they had none so I had to settle for their own gravy on the side which looked differently than what was on my plate originally....this is how I figured out that the initial gravy had been microwaved or something? I spent a total of $250 that included one cocktail filled with ice and one Sprite. I will not be returning. Too much money for terrible chefs and high-priced food that tastes terrible. I won't mention the waitress, that's another paragraph or two.

Rude server, food was okay but overpriced. Wouldn't recommend.

Disappointing. Food was average. Service was bad. Not a good value. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation and we were told our table was being prepared; strange since there was a table with our number of people ready. They had us stand in the doorway for 5 minutes and then seated us at the previously mentioned table. Service was terrible. The server asked us if we were ready, we said we needed a few more minutes, so they took the wine list away and left us for a very long while. Eventually we got our order in, but didn't get all of it. Our garlic bread never came. They tried taking away our other appetizers while we were still eating them. No bread even offered. If you get the lady with long dark hair, make sure to lower your expectations for the night. Food was alright. Nothing you couldn't find at an Italian food chain. The "homemade" pasta was overcooked so nothing special there, just kinda overly soft pasta. No Pinot Grigio was available this night, but at least the recommended substitute was good. They also ran out of clams for the seafood pasta. The atmosphere was pretty casual. A bit louder than average but still easy to have conversation. I won't be coming back nor would I recommend this place.

On the one hand Costco lasagna has more flavor than theirs, but on the other hand their tiramisu cake goes to my top 10.

Been here before everything was great. But when we went back, grated they were busy, but also busy the first time, but we felt very rushed. Salads came out after our cocktails were delivered and then half way into our salad our entrees came. We had to ask the to take them back. And to top it off we were trying to get a gift certificate and we waited for “Angela” who had to do it - watched her run around and 10 minutes later never came. Another restaurant will get that business.

Very disappointed, I made a reservation for my marriage anniversary and when we arrived the table was prepared for three people, (so they did not prepare a table for two) The server was rude, did not explain the dishes well, put the cutlery on the table without napkins, and took away my wine menu when I said I was undecided. The food was average for the high price and it was not authentic Italian cuisine. Overall, it was not a good experience and I do not recommend this restaurant.
