We had a great time at the Whiskey Coop last week. I arrived at 8 and told the host I’d wait at the bar for my friends we’d be a party of 7. Last minute 2 more friends wanted to join to make us a party of 9, they were pretty busy so I wasn’t sure they’d be able to accommodate us, without hesitation the host put our table together which we were very thankful for. We were greeted by our server Michael who was amazing!! Some of the best service I’ve ever had. He had great recommendations especially for a party our size, it was clear he knew the menu inside and out. I had the chicken tenders and they were 10/10. I was nervous about the white bbq sauce it came with and was pleasantly surprised and loved it! We cannot wait to be back! Thank you again Michael!

Came in for a cocktail and dinner with some friends and it did not disappoint. I had the Hot Mess and it had the perfect amount of kick to it. Our waitress Fallon was amazing!! She made sure we had everything we needed and always made sure we had a drink in front of us from the start of the meal to the end. Highly recommend

The chicken was too notch. Really enjoyed the tenderness of the meat with the contrast of the texture with the breading. Surprisingly top notch for ‘Cuse! Fallon was a top notch server for a busy Friday. No complaints and would definitely come back.

Let me paint you a picture: my long day began and ended with paperwork and the kind of conversations that are somehow both urgent and completely unnecessary. Life had become only humdrum routine and habit. I walked into Whiskey Coop as a cog, an ant, a minion. Colors gave me a headache, and I had lost all semblance of anything resembling a unique identity. But wait! Some tiny spark that had not been drowned out by the corporate monotony sputtered into a tiny whim and turned my feet down into a mysterious stairwell leading below the sidewalk. I opened the door to Whiskey Coop and found….life again! Beneath the ground was a haven full to the brim with human spirit and spirits alike. Cozy, but not claustrophobic. Lively, but not loud. Exposed brick, laughter, leather, and the elixir of life - whiskey. I won’t attempt to capture the ineffable taste of the food and drinks - I will allow you to try yourself (I recommend the corn fritters). Comfort food is an understatement. I will only state that the selection and preparation was exquisite. To this day I have not tasted anything less than exquisite at Whiskey Coop. The cocktails deserve novels written about them. But I will say that I walked out that day with my human spirit revived entirely. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and it’s clear the management has carefully curated a food and drink establishment whose atmosphere can heal the soul. I came beaten down, and left full of whiskey, a great meal, and a new lease on life. Put simply: go for the whiskey and food, you’ll be back for the soul affirming everything.

The Whiskey Coop is one of my favorite spots to bring people to. Our server, Lisa, was extraordinarily patient with our indecisive group and our food was incredible.

We’ve always had a wonderful time when we come here. Big shout out to Joey, our server, so kind and attentive. Thank you for the Whiskey Sour rec it was delicious! Chicken sandwiches, apps, cocktails are always prepared well. Can’t wait to come back again. Thank you! ♥️

This is my favorite haunt downtown. The drinks are delicious and the bartenders make a show of it, they look like they are having a great time. I highly recommend The Lodge old fashioned. Bacon fat washed whiskey, north country smoked maple syrup, torched orange peel and smoked with cherry wood chips. The whole bar ooohs and aaahs as the flames go up. Not to mention the food. We started with the smoked pork belly, (best I've ever had). I had the the dirty bird fried chicken sandwich. Amazing. My wife had the NOLA shrimp and grits. Holly hell. Our server talked us into the Waffle sundae. I would come back just for that. I am not much of a sweets guy but the waffle left me wishing I had ordered my own. The service was incredible from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left. Whiskey Coop is a whole experience. I would highly recommend checking it out.

Great bar/restaurant/lounge. I used to go here frequently when it was a different business, and to see what they have done with the place and how they have revamped the interior is great. It is extremely cozy and has a wide variety of options on food and drink. The chicken sandwiches are particularly great. My bartender Carlos was a great bartender and server. He made great suggestions on food and made us an off-menu cocktail that was delicious. Overall, had a great time, great food and drinks, and would recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience one of the more unique places in Syracuse.

Myself and other coworkers were in town for a business trip. We were blown away by the atmosphere, service and the food was beyond anything we expected. Check out their Coconut Chicken you won’t be disappointed. If you’re more of a desert folk, they have you covered. Best cheesecake I’ve ever had!

I have been visiting the Whiskey Coop for a while now and I am very pleased each time I have come. Starting with the amazing food, the portions are well worth the money and the drinks are some of the most delicious kind you could ask for. Whenever I come in the service is exceptional. The bartenders Carlos and Justin have been so kind and wonderful. Always checking up on me to ask if I need anything and to make sure I am having a worthwhile experience. I am always left with a smile from their great hospitality. Even the service of those that work beyond such as the bar back Jasper. He is making sure all of the customers are being treated well and keeping the Whiskey Coop looking top notch behind the bar. Overall I recommend this place to all that want to try it out and to make sure they visit Jasper, Carlos, and Justin! Can’t wait to keep on visiting!

I came in on a late Sunday morning, I chose to sit outside (it’s a little dark for my liking inside) but still beautiful inside. Matt was my server, he was great, he was very inviting and efficient. He got our order correct and delivered exceptionally quickly. The food was great. I ordered a strawberry mimosa and added peach purée from the bar. It was also delivered quickly and made perfectly. They have live bands on Sunday and although I was sitting outside, they have speaker set up to enjoy the music still.. overall great ambience will be back

The best fried chicken sandwich I have had in Central New York. The Nashville Hot, order it with some sweet potato fries and you’ll be set. Lisa was our waitress and she was fantastic and made us feel very welcome and comfortable!

I’ve gone here for multiple business dinners entertaining colleagues and clients alike as well as had cocktails here on a date with my wife. All great times. Thanks to Brad there at Whiskey Coop who now multiple times has given me great recommendations for new dinner offerings on the menu. I love the remodel of what they did with the atmosphere really works for the space and love that there’s more to explore at the related and connected restaurant/bars upstairs.

We had the best experience at the Whiskey Coop! Lisa, our server, was fantastic! The porch swing cocktail was fabulous, as was the Kentucky mule! We loved the deviled eggs, the duck wings and the corn fritters! We had the chicken and wafles and the shrimp and grits for our main meal, both were amazing! We finished with the waffle sundae and banana dream pie, both delicious!

Tuesday is Slider night. $6 sliders. Got the Nashville and Cluck Norris with the salad. Food was incredible with great service. Had the waffle and ice cream for dessert not pictured. Was awesome. Will definitely be back.

This was my first visit. I came for Wings and Strings on a Wednesday evening. The service was outstanding. The staff was friendly and efficient. The bourbon wings were amazing! The accompanying Alabama white sauce was the perfect match of sweet and heat. I had a whiskey sour, also delicious.

The best fried chicken spot in town! Amazing whiskey selection and a cozy bar atmosphere. Perfect for the season. It’s a little hard to find since it’s located downstairs in the basement, but a hidden gem for sure. We had Lisa and she was the best!

Great place for anyone who loves chicken and whiskey, hundreds of whiskey choices available, served properly. Too many chicken sandwiches to list. Went here for a work event and had mostly appetizers; everything was top notch and the server was excellent. This is the old Empire Brewing restaurant and they’ve done a nice job. Could use some updates to the signage and entrance but you’re in, all good!

Excellent experience at the Whiskey Coop! There's plenty of space, which makes it an ideal weekend spot. Nice for a date night (cool speakeasy vibes) or catching up with friends. The drinks are well-crafted and the menu is quite expansive. Haven't tried the food yet, but appreciate that there are veg and non-veg options. The bartenders are super helpful with suggestions and friendly :) will be back!

We stopped in during our stay in Syracuse recently, and enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was amazing. Highly recommend! And you cant beat our server, Chase, he was quick witted, funny and always taken care of us.

The Whiskey Coop artfully blends rustic charm with modern sophistication in a warm and inviting atmosphere. The interior features a rustic speakeasy vibe, creating a cozy and intimate setting. Normally, I cannot stand being stuck in a corner at a restaurant, but I loved looking around at all of the restaurant’s elements and the wallpaper in one space of the restaurant proved to be a great background for a selfie. My fiancé and I went out for date night and the meal was pretty impressive. Conveniently, it was Syracuse dining week so we chose three items from that menu: the bourbon & cola, fried pickle spears, and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Separately, we ordered the smoked pork belly appetizer to share and I ordered the side salad with creamy basil dressing. The bourbon & cola was smooth and had a great balance between whiskey and cola. The Whiskey Coop elevated this drink by adding an ice cube with a sprig and a piece of an orange. The Nashville hot sandwich was definitely a standout. The chicken had just the right amount of spice and was perfectly crispy without being soggy. The soft bun complemented the sandwich well, making each bite delicious. It was served with house-made chips, which, unfortunately, fell a bit flat for me — they could definitely use more salt to bring out their flavor. I also tried the side salad with creamy basil dressing, and it was exactly what you’d hope for if you’re a basil lover. The basil flavor was bold and fresh, making the salad a nice, refreshing option. The fried pickles were another highlight. They had the perfect crispy crust and a strong, tangy dill flavor that really hit the spot. The pork belly was incredibly rich, tender, and juicy — definitely a decadent bite. Interestingly, it almost had a dessert-like quality to it, if that makes any sense. The fattiness and richness made it feel indulgent in the best way. Our appetizers actually ended up arriving after our meals, but we enjoyed it that way so we could savor those bites last since the pork belly was so flavorful. Even with that little hiccup, our server Lisa went above and beyond to be sure we enjoyed our experience and she kept our glasses filled. She was kind, quick, and definitely part of the reason why we’ll be back. Each first bite of every piece of this meal was so surprising and enjoyable. I feel like I have never had a meal like this that was not only affordable, but incredibly flavorful. So, if you’re in the mood for bold flavors and crispy bites, The Whiskey Coop delivers.

First time checking out The Whiskey Coop for date night and it did not disappoint! The food and the service was phenomenal. We started with the corn fritters which practically melted in your mouth. I got a lemon drop martini and he got the lodge..they came to the table and smoked the whiskey in the glass! For dinner I got the Pickle Rick which was packed with so much flavor.I would absolutely get it again. He got the blue bird which was also delicious! We had the banana pie for dessert to top it all off and it was just as good as the entrees and appetizer. We will definitely go back again!

Very fast service. Food was delicious. Not many options, but i guess that’s fitting for a chicken and whiskey place. Restaurant was very loud, it was difficult to hear the table conversation.

Food is great coming from someone raised in the South. Service was pretty slow for how busy they weren't and never got faster. They were nice, however. Very cool atmosphere in the basement of the building. Establishment seemed very clean and had plenty of space.

Loved the menu, different and focused on a variety of flavorful chicken sandwiches and dishes. Tasted a few and they were all delicious. Appetizers were good but very skimpy. Cocktails were great. Waited an hour and a half for meals. Not sure if they're under staffed or busy night or is that the norm. Corn bread arrived ice cold or raw. Didn't get replacement. Not sure she cared. Cool atmosphere, good food. Slow service. Worth a visit, just have time.

Came for dining week which consisted of a cocktail, starter and entree. The cocktail (Bourbon tea) was quite nice but overloaded with ice. The starter (corn fritters) was great, but had a minuscule amount of goat cheese at the bottom. I would have loved to have more than that to actually dip the fritters in. The entree (Cluck Norris Sandwich) was over breaded and light on actual chicken. Most bits were majority bread and breading. Overall, I felt like each course was created with cost as the main focus, not quality. I think this establishment has potential, just needs a few adjustments.

Alyssa was a fabulous server and was as quick as she could be since she was the only one in the bar area and some of the dining area that was covering. Overall okay restaurant but needs better staffing on Friday nights.

Smelled of mold, drain flies everywhere. Everything lacked seasoning. The breading on chicken is good but lacks flavor, it’s only merely sweet. Service is friendly and it’s nice looking other than the smell and drain flies.
