Celebrated my son's birthday and the food was great! Unfortunately the prices skyrocketed but the staff was friendly and kind!

The freshest sushi around. Try the tartar and 911 roll with some hot sake and Kirin. And miso. Don’t forget the miso.

My wife was craving hibachi style fried rice and dishes so we drove out to thousand oaks and ended up having dinner with my parents. There was a long line of people but with a reservation it was quick. The chef made a joke about cooking my pregnant wife's steak well done and it was really funny, but it did annoy her a bit. We laughed about it afterwards. Love the new York steak and fried rice and of course the show!

We had a wonderful teppan meal to celebrate a 10-year old birthday. The staff are attentive and enthusiastic. Such a fun experience!

I was looking into a old photo album when I found a photo of me in 98' at Cho Cho San. I've been going here ever since I can remember. Now my kids get to enjoy celebrations here. Book a table in advance always packed.

I have never had a bad experience, or at least I don't remember ever having one in the past 20 years or so. Service has always been great. Food has always been really consistent and good/great except maybe ramen noodles, which were bland. They may have gotten better, but I don't know sincw I haven't reordered after 3 times. Price is one of the most reasonably priced. I love Cho Cho San.

Been coming here since I was a little kid with my parents. 33 rd birthday I choose it yet again as my place for dinner to celebrate. Teppan section open at the capacity limit, we got a private show. Not to my surprise the service was fantastic. Everyone was in masks and the chef wore gloves. Food is always top notch, tried the las vegas roll and it's big, but so tastey. I'm considering ordering take out from here more often.

This place is what we can't wait for when we visit from Arizona. I used to live here and there in no place in California or Arizona where I had sushi that tastes soooo good and fresh.

Best Tappan in town, I've been coming here for years, the food and service are getting better every time I visit. Highly recommended for birthdays and ask for cake and birthday song and picture.

Went for my niece's 6th birthday and it was great. Food was great, the show was great and would definitely go again. It is a little cold in there, so dress accordingly. Also can get loud, so great for kids

The food is really tasty. I love that it is simple, healthy, and yet full of flavor. Soup and salad before your meal. No dainty dishes here, they fill your plate. I've been bringing my kids since they were toddlers. When they were young, they loved the soup. The waitress even dropped off ice chips for the little ones so their soup wouldn't be too hot. Now my kids are 9 and 12 and they still love it. It is fun to watch your chef prepare the food. For those who don't like the chef cooking in front of you, the second half of the restaurant is a sushi bar. Something for everyone. On that note, they also serve beer and wine. Great atmosphere, nice staff, great food, go today!

Cho Cho San has been a long-time favorite. My 16yr old daughter just started eating sushi, took her as a treat/mom/daughter date for lunch at the sushi bar-she had a great experience. Now every time we ask her opinion for a dinner selection out-she chooses sushi!

Great show and good food. Pricey but it's worth it. The banana split was yummy too.

We have been to this place a few times and every time they never disappoint. Yes the actual place is very tiny, but very cozy. We always get different types of rolls, like ecstasy roll and California roll and it is delicious! All their sushi and rolls are very fresh, however my wife ordered seafood soup and it was so so, she didn't even eat half of it. The different sake they have are amazing, we actually enjoyed it so much, we bought some for home. I recommend coming to this place if you want cozy environment and tasty sushi.

This was our first time coming here. We live about 20 miles away, but we wanted to try a new teppanyaki restaurant. And I have to say, we were greatly impressed! We were taken to a table quickly, and our waitress was very kind and took care of us. The chef was very personable, and the food was cooked to perfection! Our 3yo actually ate all of the rice and chicken we had gotten him 🤯. It was a bit of a drive for us, but the next time we are in the mood for teppanyaki, we will definitely be coming back here!

2 for 2! They scored 5 stars with me twice! **The Garlic Edamame had chunks and slices of REAL garlic in it! The kicker was the taste from when it was all roasted together over fire! 10/10 hands down, best edamame that I've ever had. ***The baked mussels were HUGE and delicious! 💯💪🏿

Massive sushi portions, speedy service (if you come during a slow time). Delicious specialties. Great food, atmosphere and customer service. I got the Philly Roll (wrapped in pink soy paper) and the Dragon Roll (veggie tempura and tuna with ponzu). Yum!

First time at Cho Cho San and it did not disappoint. We chose to come in early on a Sat evening, but, it was still very crowded. Requested a quiet table and, for the most part, got that. Great food, great presentation from Louie, great service and a reasonable price. We'll be back. So happy I found this place.

Their lunch specials were amazing. The food was delicious. Healthy servings. Reasonable pricing and all of this along with great service. They were six of us in our party and everyone loved what they picked out and ate. I would strongly recommend this restaurant.

Tonight 12/13/25 we had Mario as our Chef, not only is he very funny, entertaining, great sense of humor, and put on a great show. The service was very good.

We had a Ramen bowl and a sashimi and tempura lunch special. The food was good but not particularly special. The flavors were fine, but nothing stood out as exceptional or memorable. It’s a decent option, but not a must-visit if you’re looking for something extraordinary.

I have been here a million times and have never left a review. My family and I went here for dinner tonight, and I was so completely impressed by the service, I had to share some well deserved compliments. Shout out to Justin, Troy, and Carlos for attending to our every need, and with the kindest attitude and smile despite being ran ragged. They all deserve a raise and paid time off. Thank you for making our experience enjoyable and special. We appreciate you.

Always fun to watch the chefs cook at the hibachi grill! It's like dinner and a show! Great place for celebrating Birthdays! The filet mignon was melt in your mouth amazing! And of course the veggies and shrimp are always yummy!

I’ve been coming to Cho Cho Son for a long time now and I don’t know why it has taken me this long to leave a review. The food is great, service is good, pricing is reasonable, and it’s always consistent and that earns them at five star for me. They have always treated me well. I would even argue it is better than Benihanas. I highly recommend Cho Cho Son.

We went as a group of 6 for my birthday celebration. It was my first time to visit there. Nice Japanese warriors as decor. The chef definitely amazed me with his skills to slice and dice and to manipulate the fire. Food was very tasty! As a birthday special, two servers sang the birthday song to me in both English and Japanese, and I got two flavored ice cream which I had to share with my kids. The servers were very helpful in explaining the menu to us and recommending the food. The only drawback was that I didn’t know if we didn’t occupy the 8 seats, we could have two strangers share the table with us. I really didn’t mind it because in my culture, which is Chinese, we share food with anybody, strangers or not. But just saying it would have been good if I was aware of it so I didn’t feel maybe we were the intruders to the lovely couple. Overall, I am very satisfied with the restaurant. We went at night so that noise was just right to get us in the night show mood!

We had such a great time at Cho Cho San in Thousand Oaks for a family birthday! Since we’ve got a 9‑month‑old, we weren’t sure how it would go, but it worked out perfectly. The place is super kid‑friendly, with a relaxed family sit‑down vibe and a really fun staff. The food and drinks were excellent too. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a spot where you can be lively, enjoy yourself, and have a fun time together!

What a WONDERFUL experience today! Daughter Michelle was visiting from New Jersey with husband Barak and grandsons Gideon and Nadav - all celebrating our Sept, Nov and Dec birthdays! We lived in Thousand Oaks for 20 years and went to Cho Cho Sans for many birthday celebrations - so it was family tradition to go to this for the great food and the SHOW. Problem was we didn't know they stopped the lunch show and seeing how special this was for our family, the host Jeff made a SPECIAL text to Chef Tem if he could come in for US! And he DID!! Even though we were the ONLY customers in the habachi room, our server Lauren did a fantastic job and of course at the end they ALL sang Happy Birthday in English AND Japaneese!! We felt so special to have been able to continue our family celebration at our place even though our family is in New Jersey, Texas and NoCal, we aren't able to be together that often. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, Jeff, Tem, Lauren and the wonderful staff, not to mention the DELICIOUS food that has NEVER lost one bite of flavor in all these many years!

Dear Christ this place can get loud. The supper and entertainment was the best. The cook was amazing at his talent and his comedic presentation was on point. The price of food was a little shocking for this guy but the show added to it. I’d be interested in coming back.

Did the Teppenyaki for the first time!! It came with A LOT of food, so if you’re hungry, come with an appetite! This was the lobster tail meal for ~$42. It came with a salad, a mushroom & dried onion soup, your choice of rice (steamed or fried). I got steamed but the fried rice the chef makes for you! You also get mixed veggies, shrimp (dependent on the meal you get), and your entree. And there are 3 yummy dipping sauces to choose from - the red is like a sweet chili sauce, the white sauce is like a creamy mayo & the brown sauce is a peanut sauce. Overall, for the show we got, and all the food - SO WORTH the money!!! Word of advice though: PLACE A RESERVATION if you do Teppenyaki. They try to fill the tables so the chefs can get their worth of cooking. And try to be there within 15 minutes of your reservation time (if you have multiple people have them come on time too).

Good was great, the chef was fantastic... The wait staff unfortunately was disorganized, slow, and rarely checked up on us. We would have ordered 6 more drinks but no one came by.

I love the food here, but the service sucked the last time I went. Took forever to get seated when there were a bunch of open seats in the teppan room. Then after we got seated they seemed like they kinda ignored us until another group of two got seated with us. At the end of dinner it took forever for our waiter to even collect our payment. I love love the food. The fried rice is amazing and the salmon...yum!!!! So would defiantly go back.

Went , for the very first time for mothers day , placed was pretty packed . Food was pretty good service was good . Place was pretty noisy couldn't really enjoy our conversation. Will try another day ...hopefully not as busy .

It's generally really loud and you can only talk to the people immediately next to you. Not my fave place to go. But good for big groups. A little on the pricey side too.

The environment was comfortable and open not loud but the mixture of the patrons and the kitchen crew hard at work made for a relaxing and inquisitive feeling to try things on the menu that had never intrigued desire with me before..,..thank you cho vhos

Once you've had the teppan yaki, you've experienced this restaurant. It's fun to eat there and have the chef entertain with their neat tricks, but the food tends to develop a homogeneous flavor once you've been there a few times. This is a great place for a special event like a birthday or date, but food wise, it's just ok.

E
Erika B (NEVERMINE ME)

It has been a while since we have been here. I do like their food alot. 2 things I noticed today, they changed their dress on their salad. I really liked the salad was looking forward to it tonight. It was not so good the other one had a better flavor. The other thing we felt a bit rushed. Some places check on you 1 to 2 times she did 4 to 5 times. We ordered and got our food and she came back over and over, wanting to know if we were ok. Just felt a bit rushy. But better then the opposite and you cant find them for refills or the check.

This is our go-to sushi place in the neighborhood. The fish is always fresh and good quality, rolls are good if your into sauce but note the Love Roll is sauce free if that's your vibe. We ordered a bunch during the lockdown and it was so great just to have some sushi. Now that things are opening back up again, it seems the staff is still working out the kinks of running a busy sushi restaurant again but we will continue going and can recommend this restaurant confidently.

N
Noe Calderon

The food was overall okay, but the atmosphere was nice, along with the wonderful and attentive service. The lack of people during the lunchtime teppanyaki made everything SO much nicer than at night. However, the teppan soup was too salty for my liking. I had to drink sips of cold water to finish it after every mouthful. The meat and fish quality is good, and this spot was, in general, worth the visit!

J
Janet Q

Always delicious food. The sushi rolls were great! Came for lunch hoping for Tepan dining. No Tepan for lunch. Lunch menu changed a bit but still has a lot of variety.

C
Christopher Halbersma

It was okay all around. The food was good but not amazing. The portions were reasonably sized. The show on the hibachi was good but not particularly engaging. The steak was excellent but the chicken was a bit dry. The fried rice was standard, but the grilled veggies were very delicious. All in all this is a fine restaurant, but it's priced lije a great one. It's lacking that special something to make you go, "Oh man I gotta take my friend here!" But it is the sort of place where I feel I might go again if I was in the area and I had a discount coupon.

Great teppen menu. Prompt service and food was really cooked in front of your eyes. The place has no smaller tables,so if you don't go with a big group, you are seated with strangers. Makes it a bit uncomfortable.

Eric Kingren

I have been there twice now, and really liked (almost) everything. This is just a personal thing, but the fried rice was a little dry. My impression of Japanese rice is moist and sticky. Theirs not so much. I had the chicken and shrimp combo and it was prepared well and tasted very good. The presentation was very good too. So I would say overall the food and experience was very good and I would recommend it for anyone who wants the experience of Teppan style Japanese food. Considering that you get a show from the cook and the quality of the food I would say the price was what we expected. We went in the afternoon on a Sunday so it wasn't crowded but I expect in the evening on the weekend it gets pretty busy so you might want to make a reservation.

Cho Cho San is a long time staple of the area. It’s a classic. I would certainly recommend its happy hour for inexpensive, sushi and drinks. We usually do this place for birthdays and other celebrations. It’s fun and the food is good! If you are looking for clean new bright and cheeri you will be disappointed. But if you’re looking for a solid place that has been around since the beginning of time and does classic cook in front of you Teppanyaki and pretty good sushi with inexpensive drinks, then this is the place for you.

Sam S
Sam S

It’s flying grease everywhere and very smoky. Not for the faint of heart but a blast nonetheless for the show and excitement. Hopefully you’re sitting on the right side of the grill but expect Korean BBQ style vibes with more of a racket atmosphere. Good pricing for the bang for the buck for sure!

Our kid loves to watch the guys cooking, the fire and all that. Everyone (of all ages) in our group enjoyed the food. The drinks were ok. The chateaubriand is exquisite. We will definitely be back.

Oldie but a goodie. Happy hour menu is awesome. Is it the best sushi joint? No. Is it reliable? Yeah. I recommend a spicy scallop and shrimp hand rolls and the Tuna on crispy rice. My sister enjoyed her vegetarian go toss tempura veggie roll and cucumber rolls. Garlic edamame is the best here.

David Norton
David Norton

Great Ramen, cute kids bento with fried and mini corn dogs and ok though not great meat and mediocre rolls. Fish quality was fine but not amazing. Rolls tend to have a lot of sauce so order carefully if that's not your thing. Nice they have seating in the parking lot.

B
Beka O'Meara (Beka)

I don't normally give any place less than 4 stars unless something was really bad, but this place had a lot of minor wrong going for it. Poor lighting, slow service and a boring chef who overcooked my scallops: though I will admit my fillet and shrimp were spot on. Seasonings are seriously lacking. No garlic or lemon? Salt and pepper? Why is the fried rice so tasteless? Dipping sauces are different but good. Overall an ok place, but I'm not gonna go back.

J
Jack Dvir

On the plus side. This is a historic and charismatic place with a nice patio with views. And excellent hibachi . On the downside the prices are a little high for vegetarian options which are basically the regular options minus the fish or meat. And secondly, there are not very many vegan options. Nevertheless we enjoyed our visit.

r
raquel pierson

Used to be 5 stars but this time the albacore was bad. The happy hour is very reasonably priced. I have eaten sushi here for 8 years and unfortunately the last two to go orders were sub par compared to how it used to be. The rolls were smaller and the albacore and yellow tail were not fresh. I would recommend only tuna dishes now. I think maby I just got one of the worse chefs the last two times. This is family owned and the owners are very nice. The teppan is amazing and still great!

S
Stephen Lee

This place used to be my family's favorite Japanese restaurant in town 15 years ago. Just visited for the cooking table in 1/2023, the food was only ok and the taste of the sauce was only mediocre and the grill chicken was overcooked to well done which was chewy. We had much better Tanpan yaki cooking before but currently, I can only taste it ok but not great. The services also were just ok and not great either.

S
Steve C

We ordered two separate combinations plates. My wife had chicken katsu with her order and when it arrived it looked as if the chef just threw it on the plate. The presentation for this combination was poor and I would not have let it out of the kitchen. All the food tasted ok with the exception that it was cool. Even the rice was not warm which makes me think if they pre-cook the dishes😑 I was deeply disappointed and probably will not return.

D
Dan Walker

Ok place. Not my favorite when it comes to hibachi. The service is great and the food is fine, just not my favorite flavoring. Not sure if it's a California thing (new to Cali), but noticed they didn't cook with butter. Definitely changes the overall taste. The portions are good especially on the kids menu.

C
Christie Porter

Little disappointed. For the price, I was hoping for better food. The person preparing our food barely acknowledged us (maybe he was having a bad day) and the chicken was very dry. The Ahi was good and the waitress was friendly. However, not worth the $150 for dinner for two adults and two children.

M
M

I've been here 2x and both times I walk out thinking that was 'ok' but nothing great or memorable. Ordered off menu both times and food is lacking. Asked for a spring role and it came with chicken and some mystery meat? Not what I ordered and only had a couple of bites because it didn't taste very good. Sushi roles were ok, ginger looked as tho it had been sitting out for a few hours, and sashimi didn't look too fresh. Server was very nice and attentive. Not sure if we will go back.

Sam Duran
Sam Duran

Went here during the day for lunch to celebrate. My Family and I were the only ones in there. The service was not the best. The server made is feel like we shouldn't be there. This was our first time here, and the server was not helpful at all navigating the menu. The Tapanyaki style food was great. The gentlemen that was cooking made good food and a decent little show. But the server just killed the vide, just after getting our food the server asked if we wanted to go boxes. Can we enjoy the food before you want us to pack up pay and leave as soon as possible? We will not be returning just because of the server. The cups need to be replaced. For what patrons are going to pay, dishware should be up to par.

J
Jimmy Diaz

I have been a loyal customer for 18 years and yesterday was probably the last time I go back for sushi at least. The Teppan is always great! I ordered 2 yum yum hand rolls and ken special roll. It was like they minimized the amount of sushi and made everything small. I asked the waitress what was this they brought me and showes the photos in the menu which has a good portion of sushi. I honestly thoght I got the wrong order. She replied with, they are making some changes. If charging top dollar and getting less food,I am out. Better rethink what you are doing. Staff is wonderful. Go for teppan only!

C
Carolyn Kolar

We had to wait approx 10 minutes WITH reservations for 6:00pm. There were 2 stations open when we arrived in the cooking area where the chef cooked in front of the guests. Food was very good - tasty. The only problem was the table with uncontrolled girls behind us and the parents made NO ATTEMPT to be considerate of other guests. Our bill was $100.00 +. What a disappointed mothers day dinner for me. I mentioned my concern to mgmnt and just smiled.

R
Ryan Simpson

We were very disappointed in the quality of the food and the service. Prices have gone up portions have decreased like so many other places. Just not the same as it used to be. My wife's ramen did not taste good and my sushi was small and dry

N
Nayda Fugee

Not as impressed. We were referred to by one of the members of our party. She had dined here several times with her son. She ended up not being impressed by her role and had to return it and exchange it for something new. I ordered the yellowtail belly sashimi and it did not taste fresh. I'm a little pickier when it comes to my sushi and have had the experience of having really fresh sushi compared to some that has been sitting around for a little while. I also ordered the yellowtail collar and was immediately disappointed. It really didn't have any flavor and it wasn't cooked all the way. The hot sake was light and although I usually order a second or third I opted not to order anymore. The ambience was lovely and the restaurant well-appointed. Customer service was not the best as we waited for a while to even be attended to. When we were ready to leave it was again difficult to get someone to bring us our checks. When we originally ordered we asked for three Separate Checks and the waiter wrote our orders separately but the check came in all combined. The lady that brought the check over said "oh we never separated them" and we explained to her that yes we had asked for Separate Checks before ordering and that the waiter actually wrote our order separately in front of us. She was just going to make an excuse without even trying to accommodate us even though we had made it simple by telling them of the separation when we first got there. Upon walking in there wasn't a very large crowd. I believe this might be a popular lunch spot but I'm surprised that at 6 p.m. there wasn't a larger crowd. That might have been what affected the quality of our food.

T

Out of beer but tried to charge it anyway Loud moving tables around constantly Brough 1 main course before appetizer Brought my husband a rice bowl that was questionable, not fresh nor good … I’m not sure my cat would have eaten that mess, my husband had a few bites and pushed it aside My sushi roll was a small roll but not cheap and not very good It’s obvious the food is poor quality and not fresh Small beers, when they have some, are expensive Get some better menus Clean your soy sauce bottles, gross! Will not return - ever

D
Dee Kay

I had heard good things about this place, so we decided to give it a try Monday night. Disappointing is the best word to describe our experience. Poor service - the server kept trying to walk away while we were still ordering, a simple drink order was wrong, had to ask 3 times for a bottle of soy sauce, they got my daughter's order wrong, and by the time she finally got her food, the rest of us were finished eating. No, it wasn't busy - our server had maybe three tables. The food was ok, but for the prices they charge, I would expect much better service, and slightly better food.

M
Michelle

From top to bottom a horrible experience. No greeting when entering to no one talking to us for 10-15 min after being seated. Prices are marked up considerably to any competitor without being any better or providing larger portions. Appetizers showed up after the sushi. They ran out of wasabi. They forgot one of our orders and didn't acknowledge it or apologize after we told them. When our server was asked a question he said he would go find out but never did. No one checked in on us through the entire meal. 5 servers with only 7 tables seated. The menus at the same table did not match and pages were missing from one. The sushi itself was just okay, looked pretty. Any other sushi place would be better. We won't be returning.

M
Monica Warner

The sushi was really bad, and I'm from the desert. My partner and I ordered two rolls each and they were all bland. Maybe the Teppan section is the side to try,

M
Mark Bradford Bennett

I ordered some nigiri sushi and a specialty roll: all the fish was subpar and left a harsh and unpleasant aftertaste that ruined the meal.

I recently visited this restaurant, and unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations. When I walked in, there was an off-putting smell, and the place didn’t feel as clean as I’d hoped. The food was not what I expected either. While the staff was friendly and helpful, the chef didn’t seem very welcoming, which took away from the overall experience. I appreciate the effort, but I probably wouldn’t choose this spot again for a meal.

I have been to this place four times in the last year. When you sit down and they cook in front of you, the food is usually great. This time I was there July 5th with my mother. We sat down at a regular table and ordered from the menu. She ordered a three item combo but only got one of the items. I ordered filet and chicken and got reheated food. The filet was okay, but the chicken was very dry like it had. Just been reheated and not cooked recently. I mentioned it to the waiter and told him it was fine. I'll deal with it and continued my meal. Before he brought the bill over is when I found out my mom didn't get what she ordered, she didn't tell me till the end of the meal which is our bad. I told the waiter about it before he brought over the check that she only received one of the items. And we'd like to check so we can leave. I thought common sense would be that he would adjust the price of the meal to reflect what we actually received. I guess my comment sense isn't so common. I'm going to include pictures of how much food I left behind. I can normally clean my plate. But it was so bad I just left it there for the trash. The fried rice was good after I added the yummy sauce to it. The manager did offer to fix the price but I explained to her I did not want a discount. If I complain about something I want to pay for it. If they give it to me free or at a discount I feel that I lose my right to say how the meal was. I even left over 20% tip. I don't think it was a waiter's fault. But he could have gotten the manager what he said he would.

This place used to be good. I had chicken and lobster for 51$ and I he lobster was tuff and the chicken was like eating a rubber tire. Our whole party of 10 didn’t finish their meals it was so bad. The manager came and wouldn’t take anything off the bill gave 1 desert of chocolate ice cream with whipping cream. Ken of Japan is way better. I will never here again. The drinks were also horrible no alcohol really in a Mai tai.

Had an early dinner today with family at Cho Cho San 8/7/2022 at about 330pm. I have been to this place before at later times in the evening when it was really busy and had good experiences, but today was different. It was not busy. 1st Experience: when we were seated, one of the waiters( young chubby Hispanic guy with glasses) , gave us 2 menus. There were 3 of us. I asked for one more and he said “No, we are short on menus” Really??? The place was almost empty. He also gave me a weird obnoxious look like I was bothering him. I really think he was just too lazy to get us another one. So I get over it, no problem. The actual waiter that took our order was really pleasant ( tall skinny guy with light curly hair). I am giving physical descriptions to help out management so they can take note. So we all ordered our food. 2nd Experience: My wife receives her Ramen soup warm, not hot like soup should be. Ok, so we asked to please heat it up. 3rd Experience: Then I received my Fried Katsu Chicken sandwich, but it wasn’t a Fried Katsu Sandwich. It wasn’t our waiter who brought me my food, it was that obnoxious rude person with the glasses. I told him this was not what I ordered. I showed him the menu and he just stared at the menu like I was lying to him or something. Instead of saying, “Sorry sir, we’ll get you the right order”, he says, let me bring you Katsu sauce! I’m like really?? I told him no, PLEASE bring me what I ordered. So he took it back. 20 minutes go by. Remember, this is only like 4pm now, and the place is still relatively empty. I noticed by the kitchen door the obnoxious waiter (chubby guy with glasses) was talking about me with another waitress ( a chubby Hispanic girl) , because they were staring at our table. Finally our original waiter ( the nice one), brought me my correct order and apologized, and I told him don’t worry about it. 4th Experience: Mean while the chubby Hispanic waitress is still staring at our table giving like dirty looks. I’m thinking why? What did we do? So far by this time, our dinner experience was not good. It was hard to enjoy our meal. My son told me he even had a “strange vibe” there, especially when that chubby girl kept staring at us. And there definitely was a bad vibe there. My past experiences were not like this, this was strange. Then, just before we were finished eating, that chubby waitress came walking towards our table, and walks slowly past us and gives us a dirty look! I could not believe it. Either the owner does not care about it’s service, or they just do not know. And that is why I am writing this review. What happened to good customer service? I think those days are gone, sad to say. On the way out, as I past the front door, I saw the chubby rude waiter ( talking with a young Asian waitress, maybe supervisor) and I said “thank you”, and he gave me very nasty look. So guess what, I’ll never come back.

By far the worst Teppanyaki experience and food I have ever had. Plates and Silverware were dirty with food still on them. Replacement plates and Silverware were also dirty. The fried rice was undercooked and no flavor. Vegatables had an odd taste like they were old or sitting for a long time. The cook was less than entertaining and performed only 3 tricks. He was not engaging with patrons at all. I would not go back if the meal was free. Spend your money elsewhere.

I love the food here! But the only problem is the people are very rude. One night I had it delivered to my house through a 3rd party service. My driver told me the manager was being very rude to him. So I called and asked what happened and the Manager HUNG UP on me. Another reason I am upset is because during the Peak of COVID I went inside to pick up food only to find an employee in the back not wearing a mask. I recommend if you do decide to go her make sure you dine in. Otherwise I recommend a better Sushi Place is town named Sushi Oaks in Newbury Park, and I has delicious food, and great service!!! And the people there are always very nice.

I had made reservations a month in advance. To avoid arguments I thought 630 your staff said 6. We arrived at 620 and was told they only hold reservations for 15 minutes. I said oh did anyone try to call. Staff said nobody called to say you were running late. I said no did anyone from your staff call me. They looked lost and didn't understand but told me they filled our table within 5mins. Needless to say we walked out. I hope for future customer service you call to follow up with reservations rather than void or at least tell your patrons what your rules are. I take responsibility for time of reservation mistake but it was a birthday dinner with family that didn't happen.

Terrible management…bad business practices. I went here to celebrate a birthday party and one of the guests never got their meal. The manager argued with me and threatened to call the cops because she refused to correct the bill. This place should be under investigation.

We were a party 12 but not given large Party seating my family was left seated between grills with two of us at Other grill. No view of cheif. Chief lgnored us and failed to provide all of meal. Our lobster portion went to others. Then they seated new party at our grill, nice people, but this was to be private birthday party and still in middle of our meal. I will never return PB

The service was horrendous, the food had ridiculous amounts of garlic butter (and I love garlic butter!), and the price, for what you get, was pretty poor as well. Our party came in two groups, but there policy is to not sit the group until everyone is there (which I understand when the place is extremely busy, but we came for lunch and literally there were two other groups there the entire time!) What made matters worse is the staff started speaking in Russian and didnt realize we had three native Russian speakers in our group. Was extremely unprofessional and simply rude. Then, the cook took our orders, but couldn't remember who ordered what so he put the wrong food on the wrong plates without even asking. In addition, the food had way too much garlic butter. Like, i love garlic butter and don't mind having a lot in my food. But this was excessive even for me, every bite I couldn't taste the food, only the butter. It was just a really poor experience that you can't believe actually happened. We will definitely not be visiting again. I would avoid this place if you don't want to be treated poorly, don't want to pay more for disappointing service, and actually want to taste your food.

We went yesterday for a celebration. We ordered the Ahi tuna and Salmon at the tepan table. They overcooked the fish (Asked the Ahi to be rare/ seared). Fish was tasteless and poor quality. Veggies were skimpy & undercooked, fried rice bland with no veggies. The chef was fun but tired. Restrooms were dirty. When I called today to share our poor experience with the manager he was very blaise and offered no apology, nor did he ask if we would like to come back and let them make it up to us. The standard of excellence is clearly missing at the restaurant now.

Walked in expecting a great time to only be met with 15 minutes of unbridled silence from the staff. The greeter was kind and escorted us to the center of the room where we sat. Everything looked promising until we were greeted with binders for menus, some pages out of order. Didn't mean much to me until the waiting began. It wasn't a busy day when we entered, but we sat for nearly 20 minutes before we left. In the meantime, there was a child screaming and crying. Their parent? Drinking and avoiding the child and allowing them to throw their tantrum. Other guests with children looked uncomfortable as well. Around the 10 minute mark without any drinks or any word from any staff, I made eye contact with a server right next to our table. I made a non-aggressive direct eye contact with him (like a 'hi! we're ready!'), hoping it would act as a signal. Nope. He stared at me and ignored me. Other guests seated after us, received service and at 20 minutes, with no water or anyone saying a word to us, my partner made the decision to leave after a party of 8 was seated alongside drinks. I felt uncomfortable and uninvited, alongside the staff either being unaware of their surroundings or staff being intentionally rude. The greeter was kind, but besides her everyone else seemed to be in their own universe. The menu seemed like a jumble of sushi, ramen and... chinese and american? Quite confusing to say the least to those expecting solely Japanese food. It has me guessing the quality of the food given the assortment of it. I recommend those to not bother. Do better. Seems like this isn't a sole experience as of recent.

The atmosphere was nice. The server was nice, but just not a good server. Things were spilled, things were cold. She was very clumsy, and did not explain things very well when asked questions. The food was just horrible. There was no flavor to anything but salt. Everything was very salty. I will never go back

Bad experience I hate to diss on a place while they are short staffed but not a good first impression. All of our meals (5) came out at different times in fact not even all of my party received their food before we left. Waited over an hour before leaving. Very poor experience unfortunately. However our server was great, she was doing her very best to keep us satisfied and up to date on the status of the kitchen so props to her. Maybe will try again in the future haven't decided yet.

Made a reservation for teppanyaki a day prior. Show up and they were an HOUR behind on reservations. After waiting a long time with no certainty about our reservation, we switched our reservation to a regular table but then we were told that they were out of half of the menu. The wait staff had no idea what was going on. One of our orders never showed up. Clearly very little communication between wait staff and between front of house and kitchen. Irritating. The food is okay but definitely not worth the wait, confusion and price. I’m very disappointed and will not be coming back.

I used to go here a lot with my family and my brother even worked here. Recently I ordered this restraunt online and there was a hair on my roll, the thing that disturbed me was how visible the hair was on the roll, it wasn’t in the roll it was on it. Who ever packaged the order and made it should’ve seen the hair, but didn’t think to themselves that it should’ve been remade. I will probably never eat here again because of this experience. Chefs need to start wearing hairnets!

This place must have been sold to someone else. Not the same Cho Cho San at all. The front of house staff acted like they were hired days before with no experience. The sushi chefs were not Japanese or Korean or anything Asian at all and it showed. It's as if the old owners just sold the whole kit and caboodle and escaped to a better state.
