A really lovely experience in Vail. The Austrian ambiance is over the top on just the right way, and it fits in with Vail's faux-Alp atmosphere quite well. The food was also delicious. I tried the porcini mushroom soup with truffle dumplings and all of it was delicious and savory and warm, and even served with a delightful carnation on the side! For the main course I tried the pork shank (Schweinsaxon?) and the meat was fall off the bone good. The mashed potatoes were tasty but the sauerkraut was truly phenomenal. It's not a bargain meal, but it's not nearly as expensive as it could be, being tucked into Vail and visited by a very wealthy cadre of visitors. The service was also great. I commented on one of the waitstaff's steampunk goggles and he asked if I wanted to try them on for a photo op. I declined, but laughed at the invitation. All our questions were answered with politeness and ease, and I was quickly taken care of when I asked to buy a slice of cake on the way out. Would love to make this an annual December visit tradition.

It was amazing. 🌟A True Vail experience. We started with spiced wine and the Resi Cheese fondue. The schweinshaxe pork shank was so tender that you didn’t even a knife to cut it. The smoked salmon and potatoe pancakes were flavorful. Our waiter called us lady and gentlemen. He was so friendly and conversational. The wait staff dressed in authentic Bavarian clothing. Every detail was thought of. They also surprised my husband with apple strudel and a lemon custard birthday surprise. Great experience!

Incredible dinner again at Almresi. Hostess did everything in her power to accommodate us 15 in the main table. Food is amazing and also service. Same as Alpenrose, everything is German/Austrian themed.

Phenomenal food! We will definitely be coming back when we visit Vail again!

Unmissable taste of the Alps in Vail. I’m from Switzerland and this is the best and most authentic alpine restaurant I’ve tried in the US. The German draft beers are the best in Vail (if you’re into European beers) and the traditional Swiss/Austrian/German dishes are delicious. The first night we ordered the “Raclette Grill & Fondue” dish that lets you grill raclette cheese, sausages, beef, and much more. As a traditional raclette meal requires, cornichon pickles and small potatoes were correctly served alongside. We came back the next day and were just as gratified. The pretzel with cheese dip and the “Resi’s schnitzel” served with spätzle were equally authentic and tasty, though the “Alm Pasta Südtirol” was disappointingly bland. The service and ambiance were fantastic. The owner and our amazing server Hendrik were both German, the staff wear traditional Bavarian clothing, and the wooden interior feels like a cozy chalet. Make sure to finish your meal with digestif shots of the sweet schnapps.

Been coming to Almresi for years and this Swiss inspired restaurant never disappoints. Great schnitzel and even better fondue. Delicious wines and cocktails too. Can’t wait to come back.

This was our second time eating here. This time was our 10 year anniversary. The food was absolutely delicious and we felt like we were back in Switzerland. It is nestled at the end of a shopping area surrounded by trees and water. The staff put the experience over the top and I would give 10 stars if possible! We didnt know they closed at 9; we were enjoying ourselves and the food so much. Never once did they make us feel that we needed to leave or hurry through our dinner. We overstayed by 50 minutes and not once did they elude to the overage of time. It was the perfect dinner from food to setting to great staff! Thank you for an amazing anniversary!

Einfach wunderbar!! From the ambience, service and food, absolutely awesome. My wife and I dined here for the 1st time yesterday and were highly impressed. All the servers and other staff were either German or Austrian, so it was very nice to be able to order and communicate in my native tongue, surely a great way to add authenticity. We sat outside overlooking the creek which was very romantic. My wife had the salmon and I had the pork, both great and the sides reminded me of Omi's cooking from back home (Berlin). The dessert choices are nice and ours was truly delicious! Followed that with adult coffee and 2 shots of schnapps! The 'Chef/ manager/ owner'is also extremely pleasant! Highly recommend if you're in Vail and looking for a nice Austrian/ German restaurant, you won't be disappointed. All photos taken onsite by myself.

Almresi was recommended by friends and we were absolutely delighted by everything! Food and service were exceptional, at a pretty reasonable price for Vail. Highly recommend the raclette, generous portions. And the decor and ambience were cute modern Tyrolia. We really felt like we had stepped into an Alpen lodge. Well done and will be back!

Great dining experience here! We felt we were being transported into the European Alps! From the decoration to the food to the waiters and waitresses in costumes! Just charming!

Austrian food at its finest and worth any effort this place takes to book. Order the Stiegl / Pretzel combo to start, anything as an entree and then the KaisersMarren for dessert. The staff was also excellent.

Food was excellent and the service outstanding--our waitress took us in hand, recommending a fantastic wine and helping us with the menu. Decor was very cool! Will definitely go back when in Vail. (Ask to sit in the booth with the color-changing pillow)

Enjoyed our Austrian/German/Swiss dinner date night experience. Great waiter, amazing food, cool environment, fast service and just the right amount of adult beverages.

What a unique, delicious experience at Almresi. Authentic Austrian / German food & drinks, themed staff with excellent service, and a meticulously decorated farm log-cabin interior. Really couldn’t ask for more. Try the skewers/fondue, tons of fun. The prices are reasonable too.

An amazing culinary experience! We had the pretzel appetizer, a pork shank and the gnocchi. It was easily one of the best tasting meals I've ever had. Try the skiwater for a refreshing light drink. Service was phenomenal and the space is beautifully decorated. We will absolutely be back when in town.

This was my favorite restaurant I tried in Vail! The food was delicious, the staff was very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere made you feel like you weren't in Colorado. A bit pricey, but absolutely worth it! We had the Brotzeitbrett, mountain salad & tomato soup for two - plenty of leftovers!

Five enthusiastic stars! This restaurant's entire façade and décor looks German and Austrian, which is not the typical cuisine I'm drawn to but my husband is, so we stepped in at a quiet hour nearing dinnertime. This was like an adventure: the weather was glorious, we sat outside in the balcony, our server (wearing authentic lederhosen) enhanced our visit 10 fold, since he was perfectly conversational without being intrusive, and we talked about everything from the restaurant's inception to the impact of legal weed. Don't be thinking this is all about sauerkraut and red cabbage because the menu is creative with enough American style to offer something for everyone. The bread with vegetable spread is addictive but I scraped a lot of the butter off; it's too much. I chose the Schweizer Rosti, which was delicious (smoked salmon) but the accompanying SWEET potato pancakes would have received rave reviews from me on their own. Yummy!!! All of their presentations are clever and beautiful. I can't remember the name of our dessert but I tried to eat as much as possible before my husband stole it: crispy chunks of pancakes(?) with a cherry compote. xoxo This place is not to be missed, we loved everything about it! Explore it a little if you can; all the little touches throughout, including the restrooms, are awesome.

The best restaurant in the village! We had their dining experience and it was amazing! The food was terrific, great presentation and our server: THE BEST! To much food that we could not take care of all it. But it’s amazing how they mixed 3-courses combining amazing salad with raspberry sauce, meat fondue, pretzel, cheese raclette, and amazing “limoncello” and chocolate halzenut ice cream!!!

First time eating German food. Thanks to Nicky we picked the bacon, onion, and sour cream "flat bread" and the "pancake and waffle baby" for dessert. Amazing experience. We may try to get back before we leave.

Amazing staff and food tasted great! The person who seated us and the waitress were very kind in accommodating to us. The gnocchi and pesto pasta was well done. Definitely recommend for the food and detailed aesthetic.

I felt like I stepped onto the set of Frozen. Adorable restaurant and pretty good food. We attended for a special event with a pre-selected menu. Might not have ordered the same items had we been there on our own, but I was still very good. Service is exceptional and the staff is friendly and so cute in their lederhosen!

This was a fantastic meal. I would recommend this restaurant for a hearty meal after a day of outdoor activities. We started with the brotzeitbrett, and then I personally moved on to my favorite Germanic dish: Schweinshaxe. Presentation of all dishes was absolutely superb and the taste matched. Go here.

We’ve been here for about a week and this is the best place we’ve eaten at so far! Everything we tried was super good, and it’s been the best place in Vail so far!

Unique, culturally appropriate setting and attire of staff, I have traveled Europe and eaten pigs knuckle and strudel from Austria to Prague. I loved my experience, highly recommend 👌

About as authentic as you can get for German/Austrian food in Colorado. All the waiters/waitresses speak German, so our family loves going to sprechen. Their Kaiserschmarrn is legit! We usually all get that for our main meal even though it is a dessert.

Blown away by this spot! Fantastic menu with delicious food and larger portions. Ate with a group of 8 and everyone loved their plate. A few notable orders were the schnitzel, espresso martini, pork shank, short ribs, and brotzeitbrett. Highly recommend!

Fantastic place in Vail to get genuine Austrian / German food. The sauerkraut is terrific. The food portions are very big so don't be afraid to order one cuz it will feed two of you. Make sure you get the pretzel to start

SO unique and romantic!!! Everything about this place is charming. I cannot wait to come back. The food, atmosphere, service, location, and menu were all incredible. Some of my favourite features of Almresi were the fresh flowers, small details, Almresi story (it is truly so sweet), the attentiveness of the staff, and the authentic German wares you can buy at the front of the restaurant. We loved this place SO much, we are considering naming our future baby “Almresi” if it’s a girl! A+++ can’t wait to come back.

We had a delicious cheese 🫕 fondue. It is as good as it gets in the Alps. The homemade 🥨 bretzel is delicious. The decor is super cute. The service is excellent. Highly recommended

After having enjoyed several very nice dinners during our first few days in Vail, we were pleasantly surprised and impressed by the warm welcome, sincere caring for our comfort, delicious food and overall vibe of Almresi. Indoor and outdoor seating; authentic Austrian cuisine; suitable decor; did I mention the amazing hospitality? Six unique dinner reservations just became five … we’re returning for our final dinner tomorrow, as I don’t anticipate anyone topping this.

Little taste of austria in vail. Loved the unique experience. We got the schnitzel and short ribs that came with side of cabbage (fav) and egg noodles. The pretzel wasn’t anything special but the cheese dip was good. Have to get the Apfelstrudel!

Nothing says Bavarian wonderland more so than walking into Almresi in Vail, Colorado - the outfits The German menu. Cow fur wrapped light fixtures. The staff shouting to each other in German. Heck, you’re already in a ski town…you might as well go full Bavaria! I had the Ski Water which is a pomegranate infused lemonade served in a jar. This was refreshing, though not my favorite flavor for a beverage. A few extra points for serving it in a jar. Almost everything is better in a jar. Of course the main reason I came here was for the fondue. If you’ve got fondue on your menu…expect a visit from me. The Käsefondue was a good fondue! The alcohol flavor (kirsch) really came through and made the dish. It’s appetizer sized (even for one person) and I had to ask for more bread to dip. I’d love a larger version of this dish with other things to dip beyond the bread. It’s a non-traditional cheese flavor (almost Gouda Smokey like instead of a Swiss/gruyere you’d typically get with this.) I also had a side-salad which can be hit or miss at restaurants… In this case it was a hit! It was very fresh and looked good for a basic salad. The base was greens (not iceberg) with tomatoes, croutons, radishes, and a raspberry vinaigrette served on the side. (other dressings available) They’ve got other options for vegetarians including a free baked German pretzel, a pasta dish and other entree sized salads. There are lots of drinks and dessert options as well. I enjoyed my experience at Almresi… It made me feel like I was on a different continent, and it was a great first meal in the mountains in Vail Colorado.

My food tastes bland and does not feel like it was made the same day. But it is still good. Just a bit underwhelming than the atmosphere.

Nice place, good service and good food. The gnocchi and the pork loin were both pretty good, and everything tastes better with an Austrian beer.

A

My overall impression is a bit of a mixed bag. The food, unfortunately, fell into the realm of average. While it wasn't bad, it lacked the wow factor that makes a dining experience memorable. The service was acceptable, with waitstaff managing to attend to our needs. However, it felt like they were in a rush, possibly due to a busy evening. This led to a slightly hurried atmosphere, and at times, it seemed like we were being rushed through our meal. On a brighter note, the atmosphere of the restaurant was a standout feature, earning a solid 4+. In conclusion, if you're looking for a place with a nice ambiance for a casual meal, this restaurant might fit the bill. However, be prepared for a less-than-stellar culinary experience and service that could use a bit more attention to detail.

Our dining experience was average, everything from the food to the atmosphere. The one redeeming quality was the service which was great - attentive and friendly, albeit the vibe just feels unauthentic and overdone. The atmosphere feels very touristy and definitely family friendly (which is great!), but we were looking for a more intimate date night spot and this is not the place. We had a later dinner reservation and it was way too bright inside, the food was on the blander side, and even items such as the salad came presented beautifully - but was really just iceberg lettuce and nothing to write home about in terms of flavors. We had 2 different entrees, the pretzel and a salad all leaving something to be desired. The drinks were good though! Would not come back and would recommend trying other spots in Vail Village.

I wish I had read other reviews….the fondue app is gross. Tastes like cheese and vodka. The beer was 25% head, and generally the food was meh. Plus, you pay Vail prices….not great. It was a solid “okay”. C+

Not very good food, just average swiss dishes with nothing special. Not bad but definitely not good. Nothing was "very special" and desserts total disappointment. Cold Fondue, Pasta with shrimps was awful. Atmosphere is cozy but not worth it. Now I understand why there's always a table available in open table.

H

We liked the look of the place. Cozy and comfortable, with tables a bit too close. Your conversation is your neighbors. The short rib dinner was very good. Ample portion. Came with red cabbage (excellent) and spaetzle. The schnitzel was golden brown, BUT was quite chewy. It did not come with any vegetable, just spaetzle. For $38, that was not worth it. A nice touch was the slice of strudel that was complimentary for our anniversary. We ate on the early side and were surprised by the number of young children in the restaurant. All in all, I prefer their sister restaurant in town, the Alpenrose.

M
Mark Yev

The food was fine, but it was DIFFERENT, for sure. I did not like the melted cheese fondue. It was mixed with vine, and I don't drink, so the taste of alcohol was not something I was looking for. The mushroom soup was good, and the Pork Shank was good. In general, the food was Okay but not Wow. In Colorado, it is normal not to have food or customer service in general. I'm not sure what the buzz is all about it!

v
veronique foster

Overpriced. we had the pork schnitzel for $ 38 and frankly it was not worth it at all.. 2 very thin pieces of pork with lots of bater, served with spätzle, which is very cheap food. the ambiance is nice and that is why we went back this year but we wont go back!

M
May Ooi (Happytree)

Restaurant was styled to vintage looking European restaurant. Food was ok, not great. I could pay same price for better food. Ordered $32 pork ribs with red cabbage, not impressed by it. Ordered $30 pork schnitzel, it was dry and we had better ones for much lesser price. Overall, this is Vail village, price is expected, but I would not be here again. I should have given Alpenrose a try instead of this. Service was as expected.

C
Cary Stephan

I want to give kudos for a very friendly, attentive staff. However, the cheese fondue dinner was a complete disappointment. The amount of fondue was absolutely paltry, especially given it was supposed to serve two people and cost $80. We had a nearly full basket of bread remaining after eating all the cheese. They also provided boiled potatoes and blanched vegetables to dip in the cheese along with dried fruit but that only made the meager cheese situation worse. It was more appetizer sized and even the fondue itself was bland and lackluster with no flavors of kirsch, wine, or other seasonings. We had to go somewhere else to actually get dinner. I appreciate the waiter discounting our meal to try and make up for it. The portions of the other entrees looked good so maybe go here for those and skip the fondue.
