Went here recently and was very satisfied. Group of 3 of us and we ordered quite a few different dishes to share. Portion sizes were very shareable and really well done. Loved the ribs and the beef. Fried rice was also great and would definitely go back to try more things on the menu
Been here multiple times, it was time I gave them a review. Love it, think their food is better than Cobi. Ambiance is always on point. The branzino is amazing, the chicken is good too. Must get the nasi goreng!
This is place is awesome. I went with friends after another event and it was an unexpected great restaurant experience. when i already though my evening came to an end. ALL of the dishes are so yummy and I it is a delighting tasting experience. I would recommend family style dining to try as many dishes as possible. The cocktails are all very unique and as with the food they are a pleasurable tasting experience. Indescribable! I will definitely be back...
Flavors are authentic and rich! Cocktails are unique and delicious. Service is quality, genuine and friendly. The atmosphere is intimate. Every dish I've had here has been SO good! I recommend ordering family style and sharing different plates.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. From the drinks to the food everything is exceptional. I’ve ordered every dish on the menu and there’s not a bad thing to eat here. Every dish was thoughtfully orchestrated to pay homage to the traditions of the cuisine, while also being uniquely elevated in its flavors, quality of ingredients and cooking techniques. Both the ambiance and food should be everything you’re looking for when you want to spend a night out whether that be on a date, out with friends or just tired of cooking and want something you would never make for yourself. Also it isn’t inexpensive, but for what it is I wouldn’t call it over priced.
I had 3 vegan options on the menu: som dtam salad, tahu gejrot and the Japanese curry (with extra aromatic jasmine rice). Everything was DELICIOUS. I will absolutely be going back. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also very cute :)
I have written 2 reviews in my entire life, but I feel so strongly about this restaurant that I must recommend it to everyone I know. I have tried practically every item on the menu and everything has been delicious. I will even order foods at Wallflower that I typically don’t enjoy such as beef or pork because every dish they create tastes amazing. A few personal recommendations - 1. crispy sichuan beef - comes with the most delicious soy chili sauce, a little bit spicy if you are sensitive 2. Rendang memak - such a unique, flavor infused dish 3. char kway teow - must order if you like wide rice noodles 4. Som dtam salad - really nice to start with this, crispy, crunchy and light 5. Japanese curry - yellow curry with carrots and potatoes 6. Crab dip - if you enjoy crab such a great choice 7. Chicken sate - chicken skewers that comes with delicious peanut sauce The restaurant also has a great ambience, I love the rustic aesthetic and decor. I truly love everything about Wallflower and don’t want it to become too popular where I am unable to get reservations, but I also want to promote it and see it gain the success it deserves. If you enjoy Asian cuisine, this restaurant is a must.

Had the best experience here before the dinner rush! The food and service was both fabulous and we sat outside and enjoyed it! Try everything as long as your tummy allows it! And the lumpia is a must!
This place has an amazing atmosphere and experience. The staff is great and the chef...My God !!! The food was so delicious, you taste the flavor and passion behind it. I'd eat here everyday if I could lol. Definitely check it out and enjoy the food and atmosphere
Man oh man! Our dog paid for this one, his name is Bruno and he’s a wonderful little Frenchie. If you see him, feel free to say what’s up. He’s very social. Anyways, Wallflower is a vibrant and inviting Indonesian place on Abbot Kinney. The bathrooms are wonderful, the outdoor space is fun, and the inside looks magnificent. The service is also really lovely. They’re very down to earth, passionate, knowledgeable, and helpful! Everybody seems really content. Now - the main piece - the food! The winner is always the duck lumpia. It is colorful, crunchy, savory, umami, it’s got it all! The papaya salad was great but it was a tad bit too spicy - it feels as though it should have been communicated that it might leave us a little bit singed. But great work nonetheless. The only other thing we had was the Japanese curry. Which was good not great. Pretty good! The DRINKS were the stars of the show. My girlfriend had all the gin drinks, and I had the bourbon, whiskey, and reposado (yes, I’m crazy!). Anna’s thoughts: “south east-sider was the number one gin drink. Very fresh and yummy. Second best was the red envelope. Very interesting with the egg white and all around nice! Third place was the object of affection. Which sounded amazing. But kind of tastes like a fancy vodka cran? If you know what I mean.” This is a fun spot to with good company. !
Amazing, elevated Vietnamese in a very cool setting. We were treated well all around, and loved every dish. We ordered four items for two people, but we could have easily gotten away with three. We left with extra food, and a great experience. Well done.

When “street” becomes chic. I’ve always found it strange eating what’s essentially street food in an upscale setting—like having tacos at the Ritz. I grew up in Indonesia surrounded by this cuisine—on the streets, in stalls, restaurants, and even my family’s hotels—so I was a bit skeptical about trying Wallflower. My date insisted, and I’m glad she did. The team here nailed the balance. Ambience, service, and food all work in harmony. The vibe feels modern and elevated without losing authenticity. Highlights: the duck lumpia was excellent, and my date loved her papaya salad (a bit too spicy for my delicate palate). The beef rendang on its own was good but truly came alive when paired with the nasi ayam (chicken rice)—a perfect example of complementary flavors unlocking something special. It’s true that Wallflower isn’t cheap—prices are higher than most Indonesian spots in LA, and portions are modest—but you’re paying for a refined experience, not just a meal. And in a city where dining standards have slipped post-COVID, Wallflower stands out as a welcome return to thoughtful, high-quality restaurant experiences. If you’re looking for cheap eats, this isn’t it. If you want elevated Southeast Asian cuisine done right, this is the place.
Loved the intimate atmosphere and the music was very good! Food was delicious but a bit on the spicy side. Would highly recommend getting the jidori chicken, the braised lemongrass beef, the duck lumpias (great for sharing) and the date cake!
Hip Southeast Asian spot in Venice with a strong Indonesian vibe. Drinks and food were the highlight - the Lucky Star cocktail was my favorite (skip the wine - red and white). Every dish we tried was flavorful. My group of five ladies basically demolished the spread 😂 we ordered Indonesian sauté with extra chicken skewer; Som Tam; Duck lumpia; Crab dip; Nasi Goreng; Sichuan beef; Pepes Ikan; Japanese curry chicken rice. Prices were fair for Venice, and service was good, though not above and beyond. Sorry I took no photos of dishes
Hipster southeast Asian restaurant in Venice, CA that is worth a stop for some moody atmosphere and flavorful dishes! Vegan friendly to boot! Be aware that the table reservation time is rather strict so be on time and maximize your reservation! The folks in the queue for reservations will appreciate your timeliness too! No valet (what, did you think this is Hollywood?) so find easy street parking along the side streets of the residential area. Drinks are like eye candy but I wouldn’t recommend the botanical Hemingway ($15) unless you appreciate a somewhat bitter drink!
This place is lovely! Good ambiance, delicious drinks, solid food. My only qualm is that the portions are too small and expensive. Also, the papaya salad was not very flavorful (but it was fresh!). The highlight was the coconut rice- delicious! And the hibiscus coconut drink was dank af.
Delicious and great ambience for dinner with a friend or a first date over some cocktails at the bar. Came here with a work colleague and we loved the experience. The food is like an Asian fusion from Japanese curry to Philippine lumpias (egg rolls). You also have to try their cocktails. They are beautifully prepared and equally delicious to drink. It’s very gin heavy but you can swap it out for your alcohol of choice. The only thing I would say though is that they are extremely busy / understaffed. It took 30 mins to get our first cocktail and another hour to get the first food on the table. Our waiter was very apologetic though and took the food off our bill which was extremely kind of him. Will definitely recommend this to friends and come back soon!
Interesting food and drink flavors. Expect to wait on even a weeknight for a table- their ube drink is phenomenal! Other foods and drinks were decent We got sat way too close to the table next to us to have a comfortable dinner experience. Could hear everything they were talking about (and likely vice versa). Good vibes tho. Maybe sit at the bar if you’re only 2
Well, Im expecting a really good Indonesian food when i decided to try this place (I came from Indonesia so i know about it). I sat at the bar, and ordered duck lumpia, chicken rice, and chicken satay. They all tasted just "ok", duck lumpia's sauce tasted funny. The meat on the satay is 1 big piece, so its hard to eat when you try to take the meat out of the stick, they didn't cut the meat (satay suppose to be cut into 3 or 4 pieces). The peanut sauce wasn't good either. Chicken rice was ok, but very very small amount. I ordered Beer and cocktail for drinks, the cocktail was at least good (i ordered "Jamu"). Service was good, nothing special.. Athmosphere and decor are nice since this is a fancy place, but for the price, its still not worth it. I spent 100bux and 27 bux tips (1person only), and left disappointed with how the food tasted. Unless they improve their food (taste and amount), I will not come back and or recommend this place to my friends. I hope the Manager/Owner see this review.

Hip Southeast Asian spot in Venice. Came here with a friend on a Tuesday around 6:30pm and got seated immediately. They do accept reservations but they put a hold on your card. Indoor and outdoor dining available. They have single occupant restrooms available indoors on the left hand side. Street parking. Food-wise, we got three dishes to split between the two of us, and that was a good amount of food. Everything is pricier than the taste and portion size would otherwise suggest. The duck lumpia came in 3 pieces that were cut in half (I would actually pass on this). The kwee tiauw goreng was alright - it came with a scotch egg which was a fun touch. The Japanese curry was surprisingly the best dish. Note that you need to order rice in addition to it ($4).

Wallflower feels like someone took a great night market, ran it through a branding agency, added mood lighting, and then doubled the price because the plates are smaller. The food is fine. Some dishes hit, some feel like they are auditioning for a tasting menu that never quite commits. You will find yourself saying things like “this is interesting,” which is restaurant code for “why is this $28?” The vibe is undeniably cool. Great playlist, attractive room, lots of people dressed like they casually know a ceramicist. But it is less transportive street food energy and more night market cosplay. You are not elbow to elbow over a plastic table. You are seated politely wondering if you should order another round just to feel full. Nothing is bad. That might be the most dangerous part. You leave satisfied enough, slightly lighter in the wallet, and questioning whether you could have had more fun and more food two blocks away twice. Final verdict. A solid spot for a date or a group that loves ambiance. But if you are chasing the chaotic joy of an actual night market, this is the upscale remix with bottle service prices and street food portions.

So I've lived in venice my whole life and have seen things come and go. I've been wanting to try this place for alongtime now, after reading the menu it was a must try! I sat down at the bar and ordered to go but before I did I asked which is better Sichuan beef or Japanese curry. Nobody knew because they haven't tried it which is cool so I went with Curry at no point was I asked if I wanted meat or a protein Soni assumed it came with. My total was 35 dollars and some change. This is what I got! Honestly it looks like left overs from someone else's plate, 3 carrots and maybe a couple other veggies that's it. The rice was the best tasting thing, let's be honest how can you mess that up!? I got home and couldn't believe it im so angry and hungry. If it tasted okay i would have eaten it, but unfortunately it's going in the trash such a waste of my hard earned money. I had to go to the stand to satisfy my hunger. I can bring it back tomorrow dor the manager to see if you like wallflower. Refund me please!
