I had a really nice experience at Il Piatto. I came in for happy hour and tried the arancini and the beet salad. Both were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented 😋 I also had margaritas and they were perfectly balanced and refreshing 🍸 The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable and the service made everything even better. I will definitely be coming back 😊 shoutout to Alberto 😊

Tried Il Piatto during restaurant week for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised! DC has tons of Italian restaurants so sometimes good ones are hard to find but I enjoyed this place. I ordered the arugula salad and the rigatoni! Both were delicious.

First time and to celebrate my anniversary with my boyfriend. It was really good. I ordered the Spinach Fettucine with had oxtail in it. It was very good. We ordered the chocolate tart for dessert which was so good. The restaurant itself was nice and our server was attentive.

Went for bottomless brunch on a Sunday morning during the peak bloom of the cherry blossoms. We had a reservation but it was not very full. It’s in a good location near the national mall and the restaurant is very cute, it was a little slow but at least you do not feel rushed. The mimosa options are passion fruit, raspberry, peach and orange. The arancini were amazing and so was the rigatoni alla panna. The desserts were good but not the stars of the show. Very reasonably priced for three courses and bottomless mimosas in DC, came out to a little over $50 each with tax and tip.

Visiting last weekend and was craving Italian food so we found this place close to the hotel. Very elegant atmosphere. Got the garlic bread, calamari , short ribs and spinach and ricotta ravioli. Everything was great. Short rib was amazing . Def recommend

Excellent Italian fare. Traditional pasta dishes with fresh pasta and garden fresh ingredients. Close to the North Lawn of the White House, II Piatto has a large sidewalk seating area in addition to a well appointed inside dining area. Prices were quite reasonable, especially for NE Washington D.C. I had a very rich Carbonara, perfectly topped with egg and pecorino. My wife had a lovely Primavera. The portions were not large, but more than filling. Very good. Give them a try.

Fantastic brunch this morning. The prices were extremely reasonable and the food was delicious. We got the bottomless mimosa brunch for $40. It included appetizer, entree, dessert and the mimosas. I got the polpette for my appetizer, but the photo wasn't good. The dish however, was outstanding. The food was fantastic and our server Juan was super sweet and attentive. Great find.

My friends and I walked in to II Piatto on a rainy Tuesday evening, just before 6pm and got a seat. There was no need to reserve and no wait time. They do not have an extensive menu compared to other places but everything we had was delicious! From the bread (which we got extras) to the pasta and desert. Each one of us enjoyed our meal with gusto! The staff were all friendly, kind, and helpful. And the ambience was just perfect. Started getting busy from 6.30pm and I know it's because every customer knows they serve delightful meals. Definitely and highly recommend!

I thoroughly enjoyed dining at this restaurant. We went for their bottomless mimosa brunch but didn’t realize they only served that menu on Saturdays and Sundays. We saw their express lunch menu and decided to stay. I had the Arancini, the rigatoni alla panna, and the chocolate mousse tart. I enjoyed each course but especially enjoyed the arancini that was very fresh and well balanced. I also got a soda which was very crisp and refreshing. I will be back. We spent about $54 per person

We hosted our annual team dinner at this Italian restaurant, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Everything was served beautifully — from the drinks to the main courses and desserts — and the service was smooth and well organized, especially for a group setting. The food was excellent, full of flavor, and very well prepared. The portion sizes were generous and satisfying, and every dish tasted great. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a perfect place for a relaxed and enjoyable team gathering. Overall, this restaurant delivered on all fronts — great food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere. A fantastic choice for group dinners and special occasions.

The pastas were truly delicious. We walked in during the slow period, and no one was at the door to greet us. We waited maybe a minute for staff to notice but that was fine. Our initial server was super pleasant. She was sweet and very knowledgeable of the menu. However, the guy who took our order was cold even forgot the drink order. The meal made up for it. The calamari was a hit. The ravioli was definitely a must try, and the seafood pasta was wonderful. Right balance of flavors. I was disappointed a little with the braised short ribs. Not enough salt, and the flavors were a tad lacking. The polenta could have done with a little more cheese, but the texture was good. The cheese cake was a welcomed finish. I've been wanting to visit for over a year, so I was very happy. And I will definitely be back.

Some of the food was really good, some was alright. The service was also a bit slow for an unlimited brunch. The calamari was really good, the prosciutto was also good. I did not care for the rigatoni. The price point made up for the flat dishes

My fiancée and I came to eat here on a cold night and it was the best decisions we could’ve made that night. Good portion for an Italian restaurant, the food tasted fresh, the restaurant itself felt clean and the service was amazing. Thank you Isabella for taking care of us and the great food recommendations. Spinach fettuccine was AWESOME!!! Cons: a 20% “service fee” is charged that DOES NOT go to the server, they should increase the price of the food instead of making it seem like a fair priced restaurant and then adding 20% to your cost. Unbelievable.

I actually loved everything about this place. Dropped in without a ressie and sat at the bar. Had a beautiful plate of orecchiette that was perfectly al dente with a well-balanced sauce of sausage and spinach. The sauce was a perfect consistency. They served a few slices of beautiful baguette alongside--light and crunchy crust with a little chew in the middle. The bartender made one of the better negronis I have had. I had to take a star off though because there is one major issue with this place, which is that they add a 20% service charge to the bill which they say covers rising operational costs, but apparently none of it goes to the servers. They say a tip is completely optional and not expected, but I got great service so put a tip on top. I didn't see this operational fee disclosed anywhere on the menu (maybe I missed it), and they really shouldn't call it a service charge when none of it is going to the server. It's just really too bad that a great meal ended like this. I'd really urge this restaurant to find a way to cover these costs some other way--perhaps by raising the price of each dish slightly, and raising the price of the wines and cocktails more, instead of just slapping on this huge fee at the end. It really feels bad faith to do it they way they are, because if your operational costs are rising, raise your prices accordingly vs. putting pretty reasonable prices on the menu and then surprising people at the end.

The food was really good but service was super annoying. Seemed like they were trying to rush us out or something, they kept coming every 5 min to ask us if we needed anything, I’m not kidding, we were not able to have a conversation because it was interrupted every 5 minutes. It was so bad, it was supposed to be a good New Year’s Eve dinner but we left annoyed. Also, they charge you a 20%service charge that’s not a tip.

Food: Bread’s crust is kind of hard. The Pollo Parmigano is sort of sour? The taste that seems to have added too much vinegar. Service is good, much faster than the average level. A fly/ant dropped in my water and the restroom is not clean enough. Tissue on the floor.

The ambience and happy hour are worth it but the food has more to be desired. There are many better options for the same price point for good Italian food. As a vegetarian, I was somewhat dissatisfied with the food quality and taste.

Our waitress was extremely friendly. However, the manager was very rude & lacked basic manners. The food I was given looked, smelled, & tasted unappetizing. After the waiter offered to replace my meal with something different the manger came waited until the kitchen closed then came over & refused to offer a solution unless I could tell him exactly what was missing that made the dish unappetizing. I told him I just did not enjoy it simply because it was not good & he replied that that insinuates none of their food is good. In addition, we had to ask several times for them to close the door during a snow storm because the restaurant was extremely cold. We also told them several times that it was my friend’s birthday which they refused to acknowledge after doing several celebrations for other guests in the restaurant. I am unsure of the motive behind this poor treatment, however, I would never recommend this restaurant nor return after the service we received.

The food was amazing, our server was attentive just that the moment we walked in we weren’t greeted and the woman at the host stand had a nasty attitude, I tried to make a reservation through the phone but the woman on the phone was extremely rude and didn’t make my reservation so I just walked in and she still had a nasty attitude upon arrival and didn’t even bother to greet us, I believe her name was Larissa or Laura. But besides that food was delicious and drinks were good.

Food and service were excellent, BUT an extra 20% "service" charge was added to the total without any warning. This is not a tip and was a blanket upcharge. Extremely disappointed. If an establishment feels the need to increase prices, please spend the money to update the menu prices. A bait and switch to the tune of 20% is deplorable.
