We tried Roasted eggplant, tasty and filling, really creamy and such a unique mix of textures. Eggplant Parmesan is by far my favorite thing we had. Chicken parm was good too. We tried lots of drinks Amelia was insanely sweet, I loved the husband! The Rosanna was tasty. Coley Fresca was well balanced. Hemingway daiquiri was alright. The bread comes with roasted garlic that was fantastic!
We went to Roseann’s tonight for the first time to celebrate our 39th anniversary on the recommendation of friends and it was a superb dining experience! The ambience, staff and food were delivered with care and the entire evening was sublime. Nathaniel was our server and he was attentive, friendly and made our evening so special! Shout out to all the staff and owners... Bravo!! We will tell all of our friends and will return on a regular basis!
Food was good! The Swordfish was rated best dish by our table of 6. But most importantly the service was a 10 out of 10! I know it's hard to find and keep good workers. Our family Christmas dinner couldn't have been better because of the attentiveness and kindness we were showed by Neve (sorry if I spelled that wrong!) and Victoria! Thank you for a great time!
Entertained 3 client couples last night. You guys made me look good. Atmosphere, food , drinks, and service all were top notch. We'll be back.
If you want to feel like you are eating in the Italian countryside, this is your place. Every dish is a star. Absolutely creative, delicious and amazing ☺️! Don’t forget to get the pistachio cake for dessert. There’s nothing like it anywhere.
Here's a restaurant that will entice even wary suburbanites to come downtown. What a treat going to the newly opened Rosanna's. The wait staff were terrific and the food was wonderful, especially their uniquely flavored Italian sauce. Had a great time sitting outside soaking in the city Dove Street scene unhurried and fully satisfied.
Gorgeous and cozy inside! Food was fantastic. They make the pasta in-house and I was absolutely in love with the gnocchi. The Mussels Puttanesca were delicious as well. Looking forward to going back!
We arrived with high expectations. It was amazing to actually be blown away by not only the food but the exceptional service. Every single bite was exceptional. Victoria and her staff are there to make you smile! Best in Albany without exception! Can’t wait to be there again!!
Had such an amazing time last night at Rosanna's. The food tastes so good and is so fresh. Highly recommend trying a cocktail. Julia was so warm and welcoming and made sure that we enjoyed our dinners. Will be coming back
OMG! The best Italian rest in Albany. Great service.and location. Had the pizza margarita and chicken parm. Just mouth watering! Loved the starter of crusty bread and roasted garlic clove spread with olive oil.
We ate dinner here while going through Albany. We were so surprised by the quality of the restaurant. So much care from the stuff. And the food was amazing. One of the best calamari dish I have ever ate. Great restaurant you must come here
I was with a large group for brunch today. Service was excellent. Food was superb and i have been to quite a few restaurants in my day. Atmosphere so quaint. I will be back with my family and friends. Even though i live in Kingston its well worth the drive just for this. Kudos to Dora and her team there!
Rosanna's catered a wedding I recently attended. It was the best wedding food I have ever had. Appetizers were fantastic. If you are plant based or vegetarian you will have no problem eating here.
Had an amazing meal with my friend here a month ago. Super attentive staff, top quality ingredients, a delicious menu and wine/drink list. The Brussels sprout salad was so good, as was the spaghetti and meatballs I ordered. Will definitely be going back! It’s such a great part of the neighbourhood.
My wife and I enjoyed an excellent outdoor meal on a beautiful fall night. Our server, Kelly, was warm and professional. The drinks were superb, and the food was amazing. Would definitely go back, especially for a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary.
Very fresh forward...loved the watermelon salad. Dressed with fresh herbs and very light. I got the eggplant..excellent very fresh very tasty. If you love eggplant this is your dish...not fried or heavy. Pasta and veggies perfect pairing. Desserts yummy!..pistachio lemon ricotta cake very tasty not too sweet! Made in house. Espresso martinis excellent..will definitely be back
The food, service and ambiance at Rosanna's are all top notch. We've been there numerous times since the change in ownership and menu last year (in 2023), and have never had anything other than a positive experience that keeps us coming back for more. The food menu is both focused and imaginative (with multiple vegetarian, vegan and/or gluten free options), and they frequently change up the menu, and offer frequent specials, based on availability of seasonal ingredients and to keep things interesting. Rosanna's always has a nice mix of salads, and appetizers, small plates and main dishes that, in our experience, are well prepared and appetizingly presented. If you've saved room for dessert (which you should, at least some of the times you go), Rosanna's dessert menu is mouth watering and includes a nice variety of offerings, including a number of housemade flavors of gelato and sorbet (many of which are vegetarian or vegan, though we can't tell by taste that they are). We ate there last night, had their housemade White Russian Chocolate Chip gelato, and a cherry crostada with housemade dark chocolate gelato and housemade whipped cream, and both were delicious. Rosanna's also has a really nice cocktail menu (including original cocktails, a number of excellent classic cocktails, and several specialty dessert cocktails) - as well as a number of tasty, non-alcoholic "mocktails" - along with a nice selection of wine, beer, aperitifs and digestifs (including port, cognac, amaro, frangelico, limoncello, amaretto, scotch, etc.). The service is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable and we've found that waitstaff remember repeat customers and even things like dietary restrictions that repeat customers may have. The ambiance at Rosanna's is among the coziest in the Capital Region. The decor is warm and inviting, and the fact that it has multiple separate, smallish rooms for dining (two downstairs and one upstairs), rather than just one big room, helps foster a cozy, relatively intimate atmosphere. Rosanna's also has a nice outdoor sidewalk patio if the weather allows for outdoor dining. Overall, Rosanna's has become one of our favorite restaurants in not just Albany, but the entire Capital Region.
I rarely post reviews, but everything about our dinner here was amazing. From the friendly service to the squeaky-clean COVID-19 safety measures and the delicious food, it was a perfect night out. We started with cocktails (the House Spritz and The Husband) and two small plates (the Rustic Bread and the Meatballs). The bread came with an entire head of roasted garlic and the meatballs were served over the creamiest polenta I've ever tasted. For our entrees, we ordered the vodka gnocchi and the cacio e pepe. Both were gone within minutes. For dessert, my husband ordered the chocolate gelato, which was served with orange quarters and toasted poppy seeds, and I got the Tiramisu Latte cocktail. Best dessert cocktail of my life. I can already tell this will be a new favorite spot for us.
Amazing food and atmosphere. The tiramisu martini is a must try. Edit: this review was reflecting the old Rosanna's. They have since been bought by the Hollow people and revamped their menu. It is a very hip with lots of vegan options. Unfortunately, a lot of the mainstays from Rosanna's are gone. The food is still very good, but is definitely for a more adventurous palate. You will not regularly find the classic tortellini or carbonara here anymore.
We love this local spot. It has a marvelous cozy, neighborhood atmosphere. They have a wonderful full bar and delicious food. We especially love their Chicken Parmesan, it's the best I have ever had. Get it! The service is great as well, and the manager Victoria is charming.
Why haven’t I heard about this place till now?! We are Capital Region residents and seek out and appreciate really good food. I read food reviews and have eaten at most of the ares finer restaurants as well as good casual restaurants. I’m often not impressed with most Italian restaurants but this is place awesome in every way: food, service and ambiance. The building formerly housed Buongiorno’s. After restorations, this historical building maintains its charm. Loved that we could hear each other talk in a cozy warm environment while enjoying a great meal.
The gm came over to see how we were doing and i can honestly say the steak and potatoes were delicious and the server was great. The attentiveness was spectacular. The atmosphere is brilliant. One of the best places to grab a drink and relax! Julia is a great server. Danielle is a great bartender.
Amazing food, drinks, and service. The atmosphere is wonderful. Good spot for a romantic date. My husband and I tried 4 different cocktails between the 2 of us and they were all spectacular. The waitress was awesome, wish I could remember her name.
This is hands down the best Italian food I’ve had in the capital district. It’s truly the kind of food you would find in Italy-well conceived, fresh, and delicious. The cocktails are original and inspired. The wine list is small, but solid and perfectly matched to the food. We ate there the first week they were open, and the service was impeccable. I can’t recommend more highly.
A cozy Italian spot, with nice atmosphere. The servers were nice and helpful and the food was great. The chicken marsala was delicious! The Calamari was fresh and crisp as well, although I felt it could have had a little more seasoning as it was a tad bland
new menu is doing great things for the restaurant! excited about the vegan and vegetarian options and my partner loved the trout. 10/10 would recommend shout out to Zach for being a great server and Jory for killing it on our mocktails🔥
So much to enjoy at Rosanna's! Probably the most important part, the food, was fantastic. Such unusual and authentic Italian dishes, from appetizer to main course! Amazing! The staff were so helpful and accommodating! We even got a tour of the historic building. It is gorgeous both inside and out. A welcome gem in the center of Albany! Buon Appetito!
This restaurant was incredible. I’ve been to practically every restaurant in Albany and I am so impressed with this restaurant. All of the food was cooked perfectly and was so fresh and delicious. From the service to the food, everything was perfect. My wife and I ordered the the NY Strip and Chicken Parmigiana for dinner with some cookies and cream gelato and tiramisu for dessert. Wonderful portion size for what you’re paying. The ambiance of the restaurant was wonderful and was a perfect Valentine’s Day dinner. I don’t have enough good things to say about this restaurant. I will absolutely come back again and again.
We enjoyed everything! I would consider this to be “modern” Italian, my “old school” Italian husband was skeptical. But everything was delicious, service was great, we did not wait long for appetizers or entrées. It’s a dark, moody, romantic atmosphere. Perfect for a date night. I thought it was relatively reasonable price- appetizers, entrées, two glasses of wine, espresso and dessert $100
We sat outside last night and had some amazing food. All our dishes were fresh and had tons of flavor. The seating outside was perfect with some Frank Sinatra music playing in the background. Felt like NYC. Definitely recommend. Great job!!!
My partner and I sat at the bar and had a lovely dinner with Jeff as our server/bartender who was so great. We had the butternut bucatini and short rib, both fantastic!
Great food and vibes! So many options for vegan/ vegetarian/ gluten free ppl.. very clearly marked on the menu. Highly recommend
Tldr: Go eat here! You won't regret it Wow. Easily one of the best Italian places around, on par with Cafe italia. Absolutely top notch service! We noted in our reservation that I keep kosher (mostly so they'd know to tell me if something has pork) and the chef actually came out so he could make recommendations and make sure he understood my needs! Atmosphere is really nice, great for a date. Some quiet funk music, low lights, a candle and a very warm and modern style to it. And the fooooooood. Start with the bread! No, it's not free, but absolutely worth it. I got the strip steak, cooked med rare with an amazing sauce and delicious crispy little potatoes. My wife had the shrimp scampi and said it was phenomenal, fresh shrimp and a great sauce. We finished with tiramisu which was, again, freaking dope.
Fab for a little night out. The spaghetti and meatballs were to die for! Simple and simply done right. Focaccia, cacio e pepe gnocchi, and cocktails. Can’t beat it. Make a res, it’s worth it
My first time at this restaurant. Small cozy atmosphere. Great service! Waitress/bartender was the bomb.com!! Fabulous espresso martini. Great food!!
Our food was delicious, I got the salmon & he got the sausage. Our waiter Mike was personable and accommodating. Our food did take a long time to come out (35-45 minutes), but hey, at least it was fresh. Everything was so tasty. I recommended they give bread at the table when you sit down so you can sop up the sauce after! I got a piece of pistachio cake to go and it was just as tasty a few hours later when I had it at home.
Everything from the cocktails, to the appetizers, entree and dessert was incredible. As a main, I had the cauliflower steak, which was perfectly cooked and seasoned and tasted as fresh as you could get. The tiramisu we had for dessert was the best I’ve ever had, without exaggeration. Overall, if you’re looking for a restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere, a creative menu that is chef driven and delicious, and a great place to spend time with family or friends, this is the perfect spot.
We got this restaurant as a recommendation from our hotel shuttle driver. It was a nice quiet area, and the weather was temperate, so we ate outside on the patio. The food was delicious, and they served in ample portions. Our server was friendly and polite, providing guidance on a local convenience store where we could purchase some snacks for our Amtrak train trip to Niagara Falls the next day.
I loved this cozy, intimate restaurant with knowledgeable, friendly staff and great food!
We were so impressed! Went here for my mother-in-law's birthday dinner, 4 of us, on a Monday evening. The place has such great charm, it's so nice looking out their windows at the historic Center Square neighborhood. Our waitress was so sweet, and offered a complimentary glass of prosecco for the birthday girl (we noted there was a bday in our reservation). 3/4 dishes we ordered came with a portion of pasta... each had a completely different sauce and they were all INCREDIBLE! The sauce on the pasta that came with the salmon dish was so unique and tasty, and the traditional red sauce that came with my eggplant dish was delicious (my MIL is 100% Italian and agreed!). Decent selection of craft beer (we aren't wine people but they had a bunch to choose from). Menu is small but I wanted to try most of it, so we'll be back! Perfect place for a date night or special occasion. You might not find traditional Italian dishes like chicken parm here, but you will find thoughtful, flavorful dishes that are so tasty. The owners also run The Hollow downtown, and we are big fans of them there so were eager to check out Rosanna's - expectations exceeded!
My 12-year old son and I spent a night in Albany, NY, on our way to Cooperstown, NY, to visit the MLB Hall of Fame and for him to play in a baseball tournament there. We stumbled across the Rosanna's while we exploring the city and boy, are we glad we did. Honestly, it was one of those nights where, completely unplanned, you have a perfect and memorable dining experience. Special for us all the way around. The pasta was tremendous and the service was excellent. We felt like regulars. It make it really easy to talk to my son about the beauty of taking a pause in a busy life and enjoying a nice meal with family or friends. A night and a meal I'll remember for a long time. Highly recommend Rosanna's.
The food was amazing. I had a lemon sauce pasta with asparagus. I got a meal from the primi section and it was a perfect size. I was very happy with the service, she was very helpful and available. The atmosphere was very comfortable and homey. There were large windows around the room with a nice view. I think the price was decent especially for what you're getting as well.
We were there last night!!! Absolutely everything was divine. My boyfriend is a chef and he and I were both incredibly inspired and impressed with the execution of everything, from the beet and burrata, the Roman fried artichoke, the winter veggie riggies and the braised beef cheeks and then the dessert they had on special… just amazing. Served with elegance in a romantic cozy space… definitely made for a fantastic date. Thank you guys for such a wonderful experience!!!
Super birthday dinner here last week for a group of 11. Had a private dining room upstairs. The food was delicious, really really delicious.
I’ve been in the Albany area from Florida for the summer and this has been by far my favorite dine in experience!! I loved the decor, wine, appetizer, main course, desert, service and atmosphere!! The history of this landmark is awesome and honored!! The website was super helpful!! Great value!!! Definitely coming back!!!
Had a great experience here last weekend. Awesome food, reasonable wait and prices. The wait staff and manager were beyond exceptional in their service. Haven’t had such good treatment in a while! There was a mistake with our order and they went above and beyond to remediate the problem. 10/10 recommend and their progressive flags are a bonus
Rosanna's is an intimate Italian restaurant that has a welcoming vibe with its floral wallpaper, warm service, and excelllent food. I had the Shrimp cake, which was well presented and delicious, as well as the Atlantic Salmon Filet, which was flavorful. The kitchen was at capacity, which led to an extremely long wait for food, but overall the experience was great! Highly recommend!
The service was excellent. The food was great. Only thing that was a bit meh were the fried artichokes. They were well fried and crispy, just not that exciting or anything. My chicken breast was moist. The pistachio budino at the end of the meal really hit the spot. We will definitely be back when passing through. Downside of the atmosphere is that the tables were a bit crammed together. But it's ok for a small group. They do have an upstairs which was not in use when we were there, so perhaps there is seating for larger parties.
Rosanna’s is the perfect restaurant for a romantic dinner or intimate girl’s night. The entrees were delicious and perfect portion. Highly recommend the espresso short ribs. It melts in your mouth. Tiramisu was not overly sweet and the espresso martini complimented it perfectly. It was also priced fairly compared to other places.
Where do I begin?! We had our wedding at Rosanna’s and it was amazing. Rachel was so accommodating and patient with us (I was definitely crazy at times!) throughout the whole process. Not only is the food to die for, but the ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant is unlike anything else in the area. Two months later and our guests are still raving about the food! We were able to have a 3 piece band with room for dancing. The staff is top notch as well. Rachel even made our wedding cake! We live 3 hours away and can’t wait to go back! Think of Rosanna’s the next time you’re going out to dinner or planning an event :)
Rosanna’s on Dove Street in Albany is hands down one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. For starters the restaurant absolutely beautiful and has so much incredible history. The building has been a landmark in Albany for over 175 years! We went on a Tuesday and the restaurant was packed— so if that’s not a testament to how great everything is, I don’t know what else could be. The chef, understanding dietary restrictions, which I have celiac disease, and ensures everyone is accommodated. The staff is knowledgeable and so kind, and their gluten-free menu is the most extensive in the capital region, which is inspired by New York City’s culinary scene. This is what we had: Drinks: I had a Cosmo Mocktail and my husband a ‘Paper Plane’ bourbon cocktail Appetizers: LC Shrimp Balls, Fried Artichoke Hearts, and Gluten-Free Grilled Focaccia with pesto dipping sauce Dinner: Bolognese, Lemon Chicken Breast with Risotto, and Grilled Sausage and Polenta Dessert: Pistachio Pudding with an almond cookie, and crushed pistachios Everything we had was Gluten Free and safely prepared in a dedicated gluten-free area. 🤗 Rosanna’s easily gets a 10/10 in our book. We can't wait to go back for more!
Nice little place. Decor inviting, staff super friendly and attentive. I had the pasta fagioli soup (veganized), and the dish with pasta, asparagus, tomato sauce with chunks of tomatos, mushrooms and vegan shreds. Perfect! Just the right amount of everything. My husband has the NY strip steak with really nice roasted potatos and broccolini. The steak had pesto sauce on top. He said it was cooked perfectly.
Rosanna's is probably the restaurant I recommend the most to others and the one my partner and I have the most date nights at, so I best get this review in before its sale is finalized and the Rosanna's I know and love is, extremely sadly, no longer. The aesthetic and vibe here is so cute and cozy, I love the wallpaper, the decorations, the fixtures, everything -- you walk in and you feel like the place is hugging you. But it's really the food that keeps me coming back again and again. The menu is small, and I love it that way -- they have a dozen or so things they execute beautifully -- you don't need anything else. We love starting our meals with the Pane Rustico, particularly because it comes with a whole roasted garlic that when spread over the warm bread is so so good. Although the menu is small, I have never had trouble finding something vegetarian to eat. Their eggplant parmigiana is my favorite preparation of that dish I've had, the tri colored tortellini with vodka sauce is delicious, as is the Ravioli ala Rosanna, and the Cacio e pepe and the gnocchi when they're available. During one of our visits their pizza special was a fried eggplant pizza and it was so good I still think about it often. We love finishing our meals here with cappuccinos and a dessert to share -- usually the tiramisu but sometimes we get enticed by the seasonal bread pudding option. As with the food menu, the cocktail menu is small but well-curated and greatly executed. I particularly enjoy their bourbon-based Il Marito and the gin-based Rosanna. All the staff we've ever interacted with have been lovely and the service is warm and prompt. TLDR: Great vibe, delicious food and drink, friendly service. My favorite Italian restaurant in the Capital Region.
Their eggplant parmigiana is the best I've had, and given that my husband is vegetarian, I've had many. He, having sampled even more, is also in agreement with this statement. The crisp is unreal, and yet the slices are not overly thin, but meaty! Nothing is burned. The sauce is perfect. The salad dressing is delightfully vibrant. I had the Rosanna, and a Negroni al Caffe, and both were delightful. When we were uncertain of a wine pairing with my creamy ravioli, the waitress gave us some samples and we ended up landing on the Gentil Hugel. The wine list here was so unexpectedly interesting! Portions were plenty and the ambiance was perfect. We will be back!!! Especially since our gelato with the olive oil cake was forgotten in the to go bag... We have to know what it tastes like!!!
This is a cute and swanky restaurant in Downtown Albany, in a newly restored historic building. The building is spotless and pristine. They have a nice outdoor patio, as well as a main dining room and a bar on the 1st floor. There are 2 additional dining/private party rooms upstairs. Staff members are friendly and helpful and service is prompt and polite. The food is wonderful. We recommend the Eggplant Parmigiana and Chicken Parmigiana.
Ah, so generally speaking have always had great overall experience at this place, but my most recent experience had me looking at them sideways. The restaurant used to be pretty good about keeping customers up to date on things on their instgram page which I proudly followed. Over the summer and previously they had a pretty tough happy hour time from 4-5, which is a pretty tough time for most people. But instead of revamping the time, they scrapped and I don't recall any updates to social media of the change. I was literally at their happy hour in October and now December gone. I mean sometimes you just want a small bite and a few drinks , not necessarily a whole meal; but I like to support local businesses. The food was good, the cocktail I got was just okay. I'd say this is a place to get a very good meal/date night or if you have a special occasion.
Cool place and great atmosphere! Has a ton of gluten free options. Mike did a great job serving us.
Visited Albany on the way to the ADR. We are a little limited since my daughter is vegan. What a great finding. The vegan options were so many we did not know how to choose. This is a pretty rare situation in this region. The pesto and the mushroom pasta were great but the real real surprise were the amazing vegan deserts. First time we ever tasted a choc-mint vegan ice cream. Kudos and thanks
We got pesto primavera, grilled focaccia, cheese arancini (extra oily but good), garden salad, chocolate cake. All were delicious with fresh ingredients except the cake wasn’t sth you expect from a high-end restaurant. Dry, cold and not at all fresh! I was craving dessert but was a major disappointment.
Nice place. Most of the menu didn't appeal to me so I settled for the burger. Nice sized paty on a brioche bun. Would have been good had it come out medium well instead of rare. I was part of a party of seven and it took 10 minutes for everyone's food to be served. Some food got cold while others had nothing to eat. Couldn't make a jack Daniel's Manhattan to save their lives.
What a lovely little spot in Center Square! Parking was surprisingly easy on a weekday at 530. They have a cute patio which I would love to return to to sit on during a cool summer evening. My friend and I were seated right away; the table decor and ambiance are chef’s kiss. I got the lemon mushroom tagliatelle with added lemon airline chicken. It was delicious! Lemon is kinda my thing so this was meant for me. It was a large enough portion to bring some home. My dining companion tried the swordfish and ate every bite. Both of us got the lemon berry marscapone cake to go. Also incredible! The 1 star was lost because I wanted pasta with a protein but no dishes come like that. So it adds up. $23 for pasta then $13-$15 to add a protein. I wish they had like 2 options with pasta and protein for like $30 maybe. I will return but not necessarily add to my frequent stop list. (Also I’m a middle aged mom that gets little free time and doesn’t know how to parallel park anymore so take that with a grain of salt.)
I really liked Bongiorno’s and was excited to see that Rosanna’s would be keeping the recipes, so we finally decided to try the new restaurant. The only thing lacking was bread to start off the meal. I just expect an Italian restaurant to serve bread with the meal, all the great Italian restaurants I’ve been to bring bread to the table, usually with a special blend of butter or a plate of olive oil and balsamic vinegar with Parmesan for dipping, or even basic rolls with butter... They put two small plates in front of us when we got there and we sat looking longingly at those empty plates waiting for bread while we waited for our entrees (which took about 25 minutes). Finally our food came and she asked us if we needed anything else so I asked if there was bread that came with that, she said no but we could add two pieces of grilled bread if we liked for an additional charge, so I said yes. The grilled bread was okay, nothing special, would have been better with a pat of butter… but really should just be included with the meal. The Chicken Parmesan is good, though very thinly sliced so there’s not much chicken to breading ratio.
We used to absolutely love this place. Really lovely inside, service is still great. But the food quality went downhill when it sold and my (albeit well made) Negroni was ridiculously $20. This is Albany, not Manhattan.
I went here last Saturday Night (Sept 25 2021) upon seeing reviews. Everything started fine. noticed we did not get the good looking bread but i assume that must be ordered. I order the Chicken Parm with Rigitoni and upon eating it i noticed it tasted off. I had my significant other try it and they said it wasn't cooked. The Waiter then consulted with the manager who told him to tell us thats how its made. Later the Manager told us she indeed noticed it tasted hard but the cook serves it El Dente (very uncooked). She offered to get us a free desert but we declined. They ended up taking our lowest priced drink off the bill. I think if the Pasta is cooked to a degree that multiple people would think its uncooked it should be noted on the menu instead of waiting til people complain.
The ambience and service was wonderful and it wasn't that the food was bad, but it was certainly not worth the price. I found it to be very mediocre Italian food. The flavor just wasn't there. This is also a personal opinion, but free bread would have made me give it an extra star! That's what Italian food is all about , so I can dip my bread in all the sauces without purchasing 3 pieces of bread for $6. We'll for sure give it another shot, I am rooting for them.
First timers. It was a bit cold, tables kinda small. Small offerings on the menu. I understand the chef was on vacation. Appetizer was ok, breaded rice balls, ceaser salad was a bit salty, the Bolognese lacked flavor and the pasta was tough. The chocolate cake was cold and whatever cream they used ruined it. But the americano coffee was good and the espresso martini. Sorry just being honest. We won't be back.$158 A&G
Food was great, pretty pricey for service and seat that was reserved. Could use table cloths to touch it up a bit. Our table was also on a slope so we had to find ourselves a table and stick paper underneath it. Tables unless you reserve by phone and tell them by window are way to close together and non intimate. Place wasn’t packed on a Saturday and guy was pretty bad. He didn’t check on us for half hour plus. Also could use some better host skills/manners as that is how you earn a tip and returning customer. Food was excellence but everything else would keep me from returning again.
Arrived with a reservation for one person - they tried to seat me at the bar on a crowded corner where there was barely room for one person. Food was good. They do not serve bread with the meal, unless you order the focaccia starter. Never been to a restaurant that seats you at the bar even though you have a reservation and nearly every table in the restaurant is available. Never been to an Italian restaurant that does not serve bread. Food was good, wine list has extensive selections. My impression is that they have a good kitchen staff, but whoever is running the dining room is not providing good customer service. It was disrespectful. I would not go back.
As with other reviews we felt the pricing is a bit out of line. The pastas tasted good, but for $28 the portions were very small. They didn't offer bread, and a dinner salad was an extra $10. As for service, if you're charging that kind of money, don't remove my fork from the salad plate - take it away and bring me a fresh one. We didn't order wine, but I noticed the server bring a bottle to a table with the cap already removed and the corkscrew started...this is huge red flag as the bottle should be presented first, approved by the customer, and then opened tableside. This avoids confusion and prohibits unscrupulous re-corking of a previously opened wine. I'm not accusing anyone of trickery, but you can't leave that door open. All in all, I think three out of five is a very fair rating.
Gnocchi was cooked perfectly and the beets came in to aid them nicely. Wish there was a little more pepe some bites were just missing. The asparagus risotto was decent but just missing an entire component completely, it was still cooked without error. Had 2 other dishes (just pastas) but price and portion wise it just felt like it ran a little high for what you got. I am still excited to return to try some larger dishes with protein.
My husband and I went to Rosanna's for the first time for our anniversary dinner. The ambiance was nice and the service was fine, but the food was disappointing. I ordered the $38 Grilled Bison Flank Steak and was informed that they do not have bison, so it would be a NY strip steak. I decided to go with it anyway. We also ordered an appetizer that did not arrive before our main courses. On the one hand, the broccolini and the Italian chimichurri were absolutely delicious. The broccolini was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The steak, however, was full of fat and so incredibly tough and chewy. The "potato nugs" would have been better described as diner potatoes, very powdery inside and not seasoned well. I asked if there would be a price reduction for my meal, because that was clearly not an expensive cut of meat. My meal was removed from our bill, which I appreciated. We got the vanilla and dark chocolate gelato for dessert. We're 99% sure that vanilla was actually toasted coconut, so it's a good thing we like coconut! Overall, we were expecting better for our $30+ main courses.
I had the eggplant parmigiana with pasta and a salad. My wife has the margarita pizza. My eggplant was okay. The eggplant pieces were very thin and had a slightly crunchy/burnt crust. The pasta and salad were good. My wife’s margarita pizza was awful. The cheese tasty incredibly salty and the pizza dough was soggy.
Unfortunately waiting over 40 minutes for an appetizer - pana rustico (bread with garlic) and meatballs, then It took an hour and 20 minutes to receive our main course, and we did not dare order desert it would have been another 30 minutes for ice cream! If you are prepared to have at least a two - three hours for dinner this is the place because the food is always good but after this happening for the second time I don't think we will be returning.
Let just start with my wife and I went there for valentines day. The food was OK . So they had a special menu which didn't have anything on it that was exciting. Matter of fact they removed alot of more interested items. No calamari, no swordfish, no pizza. The place is over priced. What nice restaurant charges 6 dollars for bread. If I had known the menu was dumbed down. It was like they didn't try. I looked at Nicole's in Albany their valentines menu was how to do a special event. I will give credit that I had a tiramisu martini and that was very good. My lobster bake was small lack any real flavor. For 50 dollars a plate the meals didn't come with a side salad or pasta. Like I said overpriced. Our meal cost 210 for 2 people. Just very underwhelming and it seemed like they just didn't care and not a great place not for the price. Which is sad My wife and I have been going there for years on valentines day with the previous owners but recently I have been disappointed and the trend is continuing.
The host was rude and judgemental when we entered. Waiter never really checked in with us. The restaurant is so dark we couldn't see our food. There's ambiance and then there's blatantly unable to discern what type of vegetable I'm eating. The table was incredibly small barely fit 2 people. My husband's steak was very good. My cod was very, meh, there was nothing particularly great about it to justify the $27 price tag for a piece of fish and small portion of vegetables. $12 glass of wine that tasted like dirt, I couldn't finish it. We won't be back. There's much better places in Albany where the food is actually worth that price and I can actually see what I'm eating.
I was so excited that my husband called and made a reservation with the person at the desk for my birthday. We had been to Rosanna’s before and loved everything about it: especially their vegan options since I am vegan. The person on the phone took our reservation, the day of (July 1) he got a confirmation for our 6:30 reservation. We got to the restaurant at 6:20 to find that they were closed!!!!! Upon further investigation, we learned that they would be closed for the 4th of July weekend! Why would an employee take a reservation for a day that they were closed? Then, that same day at 7:00 (30 minutes AFTER our reservation time) my husband got a text just saying that our reservation had been canceled. This is just bad business and very disappointing.
As lovers of Bongiorno's, it was an easy decision for me and the wife to visit the new rendition of 23 Dove St. As we entered, I noticed the charm of Bongiorno's was gone. The wood paneling of the walls with the gold framed paintings were no more, and there was no smiling Felix to greet hungry guests. There was, however, a bathroom on the ground floor. I did appreciate that. After getting seated, we ordered our drinks, appetizer (focaccia), and entrees (bison steak and pork belly). Two of those three were received. When our entrees were delivered, we pointed out we hadn't received the focaccia. It was then quickly brought to us burnt and unseasoned, as if hastily made. My pork belly was okay at best. The bean salad underneath the small amount of pork did not seem to create whatever flavors the chef was going for. My wife ordered the bison steak, which was unavailable. Instead, the NY strip steak was offered. The cut of meat she received was nearly all gristle. This was brought to the attention of the waitress. It was removed from the bill. It is worth mentioning that the chimichurri was absolutely delicious. For dessert, we had the vanilla gelato and dark chocolate gelato. We received coconut gelato and dark chocolate gelato. They were both fantastic, but not what was ordered. Thankfully, we like coconut. But if we didn't, or if we were allergic, dessert would have been a little worse. As evidenced by the history section of this establishment's website, 23 Dove St. has had an eventful and enjoyable past. Unfortunately, Rosanna's is now part of that history.
My family and I ate here after waiting for awhile. Beautiful inside but the food did not sit while with us we were all throwing up and very sick the next two days… Having upset stomachs and throwing up… All I can say is make sure meats are cook all the way through and it’s fresh…
Hello there! We dined out on Saturday 1/25/23 with a couple of friends. Ordered some bread and calamari. The calamari came out and looked really good. Took the first bite and it was salty. Drinks came and mine was ok but not what I expected. The others thought the calamari was salty also. But their drinks were better. We ordered our dinners. All the dinners came out except for mine. So we sat there weighted for my meal. The other began to eat when I asked the waitress, where’s my meal? She said I’m sorry but it’s been so busy that I forgot to tell you we ran out of chicken parm. Now how do you run out of that and why would you wait till you had dinners coming out to tell me you have no more. She gave me some meal that was over soused and had little to no bacan in it. I asked for more bacon and it was like I asked to rob the place. She took off a round of drinkdc. I was so hungry I ate it all. But the more I ate it the more it was salty. But then everyone’s was salty!
Service was far too long (took almost an hour for the food to be prepared). Portions were insanely small and I was still hungry after lunch. For the amount of time the food took to be prepared, the result was not that impressive. Would not recommend.
We always went to Rosanna’s for special occasions. This night was my birthday and my fiancée informed me ahead of time that it was now under new ownership and the menu has changed. I still found that some of the menu items sounded good so we proceeded with our plans and were excited. I ordered the bison steak. Was told that it was actually a strip steak but I said that was fine. Maybe that was my mistake. I ordered it medium and when I got it, it was grey and so overcooked. I had informed them of this in the nicest way possible. I don’t ever complain at places but the steak just wasn’t good. They remade it and then I got basically a raw steak. Either the meat quality wasn’t good or they don’t know how to cook a steak, I don’t know. My fiancée payed full price for it and was really upset about the quality of the food. She ordered the pork belly dish and wasn’t very happy with it either. Rosanna’s was so good and we’re really upset with our experience with the new owners. We notified them that it was my birthday but there was zero acknowledgment of the fact. I don’t expect free things but why ask if it’s a special occasion if it’s not even going to be acknowledged. We won’t be going back and it’s very sad because it used to be so good.
Great service and atmosphere, but the food was terrible. It took 45mins for an appetizer, and another 45 mins for our main course. For how expensive the food was it was a huge let down.
Never have an ever been to a RESTAURANT where the kitchen closes an hour early maybe a BAR but hey that’s new. I was not greeted when I was starting to ask if I can sit at the bar the male host loudly told me the kitchen was closed. I was very uncomfortable and left I have Lived in this neighborhood 20 years and never was made to feel like this!! DO BETTER. I doubt I will ever step foot in there but I do hope customer service gets better I was really looking forward to trying this place
Extremely disappointing experience at Rosanna’s. The food was mediocre at best, and our server, Nick, was inattentive and not particularly friendly. What made the experience even more unsettling was the placement of a Palestinian flag directly next to and behind a Pride flag. While I respect that businesses can display whatever symbols they choose, the combination of these two flags in the current climate felt uncomfortable and inappropriate. Overall, between the lackluster food, poor service, and the unsettling atmosphere, I would not recommend dining here.
