If you are in the area check this place out. Staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean. The food was on point. We had the pork soup dumpling, scallion pancakes, and Peking duck buns. All of it was fantastic. I can't wait to go back.
We stopped here on Christmas Eve for a casual dinner. Everything we ordered was to die for! I really enjoyed the edamame dumplings and the scallion pancakes. Their sake was also very good. Thanks a bunch!
I would give them 10 stars if possible. We placed a 2k+ catering order through DoorDash and DoorDash failed to get us our food because they don’t communicate sis of orders to their dashers and the dashers they sent were unable to fulfill the pick up. We ended up going to the restaurant ourselves and picking up the order. Not only did Nom Wah assist us in this, they also called DoorDash to refund us the order due to the inconvenience. They went above and beyond to help us and provide excellent customer service. And on top of that their food is phenomenal (:
Discovered this place a few months ago with a friend and we fell in love. The food is so delicious and they have vegetarian options for my friend. Since then whenever I’m at that location I always make it a point to stop there and grab some thing to eat. Food service is good and the workers are very kind and helpful. I always get the pork and shrimp fried dumplings, fried rice with shrimp, phoenix buns, and sometimes the vegetarian dumpling soup. Food is always consistent and delicious.
Very good quality. Soup had a rich broth with real flavor, not merely salt. Pork and chive dumplings in it were excellent. Took home frozen shrimp dumplings, they are a premium product, with massive amounts of filling, shrimp large and cleaned. No excess wrapper. Luscious and well made. Priced accordingly (28 +tax for 23 dumplings) On a second go, was less impressed. No one comes close to the quality of Wu’s Wonton King’s dumplings.
Excellent fast Chinese food. High quality. Good price
My girlfriend and I decided to try this spot. We were not disappointed. The food came out hot and was really good. We had the fried noodles, dim sum, and a pork bun. The employees were friendly and inviting. Great mix of music as well.
Some of the best dumplings in the city, super quick. Skip chinatown and go to nolita
I have to say my favorite dish is the Peking Duck Bun, I travel from Harlem just to pick me one up every now and then.. When you walk in everyone is friendly and it doesn’t feel like my present “background” would be a disturbance.. The lemonade is also tasty.. Not to mention the Xo sauce is perfect S/o Nom Wah for doing it right
such a delicious treat!! we wanted some casual appetizers & ordered the pork soup dumplings and pork bun (must pair w their dumpling sauce & chili oil!!) these were the best soup dumplings we've ever had, wow. 11/10, would love to come again to try the rest of their menu
Pork dumplings and noodles tasted so good. Employees were very friendly.
Consistently good food. Always my go-to several nights a week for dinner. The staff at the Kenmare Street location are super friendly and attentive.
I had a steamed roast pork bun. I haven't had one in 20 years and this one brought back a lot of memories. That being said, 20 years ago they cost two dollars.. this one cost me seven. Yikes. Still worth it in the end but it'll probably be a long time before I get another one again. Everything there was pleasant though. Very clean, professional service, busy, but not crazy New York busy. The food around me did look very good.
This place is still not completely spoiled by tourist line the flagship restaurant in Doyer street. U can either order directly from the tablets on the counter and pay with your card, or order it from the host directly. The menu is not as extensive as the actual tea house but the customers favorites are on the menu here. There are some new, interesting drink variety on the menu that's worth sampling as well.
I have been a fan for quite awhile and the food is delicious and always consistent. I recently did a catering order with them and all of my guests loved it. It's a great idea for catering for a big group or work meeting. Everyone kept going back for more! I highly recommend!
If your hungry this is the spot, Nom Wah Nolita....so frickin good.... so my dumpling fix today was the following, all delicious and tasty and always hit the spot. Pan-fried shrimp and pork dumplings, boiled shrimp and pork dumplings w/bacon XO sauce....these are totally amazing and i could eat these all day... and last 2 orders of the shrimp and pork sui mai...so good i needed 2 orders.... food comes out quick and hot and extremely delicious...always a home run here.. #meecheatsny #nomwahnolita #dumplings #chinatownfood
I love me some Nom Wah! Their edamame dumplings and shrimp shumai are so yummy, I could literally have them every day. I love the atmosphere of this walk in place on Kenmare. Perfect place to grab a bite before going out or enjoying a concert across the street at the Bowery Ballroom.
Definitely enjoyed the noodles I got here for lunch and the chrysanthemum tea was wonderful. All of the employees here provided great menu knowledge and kindness and overall a good vibe to the environment. I’d love to eat in next time and try other things on the menu. I will definitely be coming back. Shout out to the employees who told me to get the noodle soup , it was great 😊 thanks again.
The food here is as delicious as it’s ever been, and the staff is so friendly. They have kiosks for ordering or you can order with a person. It’s less busy than the original location and a little easier to find. I come here often, because I can get in, out, and in the grain with ease.
I work in the neighborhood and come here often. Aside from being one of the only affordable lunch spots in the neighborhood, everyone that works here is really nice. They go out of their way to give you a good experience Even though it's pretty fast and casual. They are happy hour Lunch special is awesome!
Love this place. The staff is always so friendly and professional (shout out to Chris & KD) and the vibes are laid back and casual. I come in every few weeks and love trying new items off the menu. Some dishes I've enjoyed: Shrimp toast Duck bao Shu mai Dumplings Mapo cheese Thanks Nom Wah!
I took a chance on this spot and I am happy that I did. The staff consists of one person manning the register and several employees working in the kitchen. The kitchen is readily visible when you first step in and was clean, always a plus. The good energy and the way the staff interacted with each other (even at peak dinner hours on a weekend) was an added bonus to our experience. It was our first time here so we asked several questions and the gentleman who helped us was very patient and definitely knowledgeable on their menu. The food was really good. The overall value was great especially in this trendy neighborhood. We both had noodle dishes and both were delicious. They have a homemade roasted chili sauce you can add that was so good I refilled my ramekin and took some home for my left overs. The portion size was fair too. I would not recommend the scallion pancakes because the serving size was about half of the standard for those and they were a little greasy. Regardless I will definitely be back here and recommend this place to others. Lastly the bathroom was clean! Always a plus. Nom Wah is definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area.
Simply put, stop by, this place is fire. In this city, it’s hard to stand out, some how Nom Wah effortlessly does exactly that. Bao buns and dumplings are awesome and not very expensive. Over that, the place sets a really nice vibe and counts with perhaps some of the best service you could find. You can also order on your phone, sit at a table and wait for food to magically appear on your table. Every other restaurant that tries too hard should come here and take note. Coming back.
I thought the food was delicious!! I love going to the Nom Wah tea parlor in Chinatown but the line is often long, so I’m very excited to have found this other location. The menu is a bit different but the quality was great. The fried rice and tofu buns were especially good! The outdoor seating is pretty basic but the street was quiet in the evening.
Not really an Asian place, kinda a strange spot. OK food
its white people Chinese food, its good, but not amazing, ~$30 for scallion pancakes, pork bao buns, and some "soup" dumplings (barely any soup), if you're in a rush it'll do, but ill walk some more blocks down to the better Chinese places next time.
Great meal. Lived up to expectations. Had soup dumplings, scallion pancake, duck buns, and gyoza. All were good!
Very good food for the price. The soup dumplings failed though in the pickup test. They all leaked out before I touched any of them. flavor was very good, but I didn't want to slurp them out of a takeout container. Steamed bun was huge which explains why you only get one but the subtle sweetness of the rice bun paired nicely with the huge amount of flavorful pork. The duck bao was good but it had a bit too much housin sauce which made them sweeter than I would have liked. Bao might have been filled with the most duck I everin a bao bun whic makes the excess hoisin sauce sound worse than it actually is. Flavors are Americanized, though I could be biased as I've been hitting flushing asian joints with no English in sight on signage or menus.
Good food! Expensive but this place is famous enough to get away with it. The Asian Palmer was a clever twist. My friend got the noodles, which seems the menu’s secret underdog. The sidewalk dining is meh, since this place is on a busy street with lots of loud trucks and cars going by.
Quite literally the best pork dumplings I’ve tasted in my life thus far, just wish more than 4 came per order! Forever a fan though, and will always stop by when I’m around.
The great: quick service and reasonable prices. Really great set up for a quick variety of dumplings. The boiled edamame were probably my favorite of the bunch - great herb presence and well seasoned. My only complaint might be that everything inside was chopped too finely. The chicken and cabbage fried dumplings were pretty great texturally and flavor-wise. The bacon XO shrimp and pork dumplings had pretty good flavor, but the shrimp tasted just a little off. I enjoyed that I was about to make my own sauce from the 4 sauces on the table. The pretty good: the shrimp and snow pea dumplings - that slightly off shrimp flavor prevented me from fully enjoying, but still pretty good flavor. The scallion pancake had great texture, but I wanted more flavor. The roast pork buns were tasty, but overly sweet and slightly overcooked - they were falling apart a bit when we tried to separate them from the paper wrapper on the bottom. The xiao long bao had great texture, but the broth inside was just a little too bland - I was most disappointed by this as I am constantly searching for the perfect soup dumpling in NJ/NY. That said, they were still pretty good. Nom Wah Nolita is definitely a place I would revisit. Solid for a quick lunch or group dinner.
Nice modern Chinese. The menu is simple and very good. I enjoyed the dumplings and the soup. A bit pricey compared with others in the neighbourhood but I believe this is due to the higher ingredient quality. Service was fast and nice. Overal, I'd say this is a nice place to go to if you're in the neighbourhood and want to try something nice without spending too much.
Good soup dumpling for an express spot! If you wanna grab a quick bite. This is not a bad choice! The pork bun has a very thick bread skin which I don’t like. But soup dumpling didn’t go wrong! The alcoholic drink is def. over priced- $8 dollar a can. Right next to Williamsburg bridge, you can go for a bridge walk after all that meat and carbs.
Went here recently. Ordered some ginger lemonade, which tasted good with kick of ginger and great lemonade. I don't like my lemonade sour, and this was great not too sour, not too sweet. Got some scallion pancakes, which was on a little thin side, but they tasted good. Lastly, I got some sweet chili tofu buns, which were delicious and soft.
Good representation of the main Nom Wah in a reasonably sized venue (it looks smaller at the front but opens up at the back to more seating). Ordering is at the front and then pick-up when you name is called, like a fast food joint, but the ingredients tasted fresh and the pricing is very reasonable. $3 beers at happy hour are an added bonus.
Food came fast and staff was very kind, but taste was nothing special, especially the vegetarian options. A small bowl of salty broth with three half filled veggie dumplings and two pieces of leafy greens for $13.50 left much to be desired. A solid place for quick food, but that's about it.
I was in the area and craving shrimp dumplings. So I stopped here. Their shrimp dumplings were good. Not WOW, but good. I ordered a vegetable fried rice and tofu buns to go. The tofu buns were ehhh. Nothing exciting. Definitely overpriced. The fried rice was okay. It lacked flavor and the mushrooms/ vegetables were very light. Lots of rice. Little veggies. The staff was friendly. The ambiance is casual and basic. Overall, I was not impressed with my experience here. I'm not sure if I'd visit again to try other menu items. Probably not.
Got the scallion pancakes, shrimp dumplings and sloppy joe noodles. The sloppy joe noodles were tasty but some of the noodles stuck to the bottom of the container so it was harder to eat, while the shrimp dumplings were a little dry. If I were to come back, I’d try the soup dumplings.
Food is good. Be prepared to wait 30+ minutes for your order.
This is my second visit to Now Wah and my first to the Nolita location, it is nice to have outdoor seating at this time and one of my main requirements to dining out currently, so I really appreciate all the restaurants that offers it. The selection is limited but decent, but where is the hot tea – I have really missed dim sum and the piping hot tea that is served with. We ordered the pork soup, chive, pork and shrimp, shrimp, and edamame dumplings, duck, house special pork, crispy chicken and sweet chili tofu buns, spring rolls, scallion pancakes, and Szechuan tofu noodles. The scallion pancakes were bland, and I would not order it again. The duck buns were my favorite and all the dumplings were delicious. Most of the dumplings were cold or lukewarm and for me that is a deal breaker, the Szechuan tofu noodles were flavorful and spicy. Fast and friendly service.
Having been to the original restaurant, I went in with high expectations however aside from not having to wait the food is subpar. Being so close to Chinatown I would suggest go elsewhere if you like to try proper dim sum. The menu here is definitely more Americanized so to say and this extends to the vibe as well. Over all it’s average and nothing compares to the original, but still a fun place to introduce dim sum to unfamiliar crowd.
Cute little spot but not really worth a trip. Especially when you’re so close to so many great Chinatown spots. Our dumplings were lukewarm and not terribly flavorful. It seems like a place where the employees just reheat frozen food. You’d be better off buying frozen dumplings and steaming or frying yourself.
The outpost that unfortunately doesn’t deliver on the originals rep. Feel like we had a good coverage of options but food was only okay. Best was veggie spring rolls but hard to mess those up. Fried chicken was too fried if that’s possible. Dumplings didn’t have much flavor. Probably more of a delivery take out place than a dine in.
want the real nom wah? go to doyers. the food here tastes like it came straight out of your nearby grocer’s freezer aisle, and not in the good way. dough on the har gow dumplings are gummy. siu mai is forgettable this place made me sad. don’t be sad. go somewhere else.
The setup is very nice, and the place is clean, even the restroom. I had high hopes but left feeling disappointed. The vegetable fried rice with shrimp that I ordered was very salty. I usually try to finish my meal but it was too much salt and lack of any other flavor. Maybe the dumplings are better... I'll never know!
Restaurant is nice. Coming from an Asian country, the sloppy Joe taste nothing like Asian food. It taste like spaghetti with spicy sauce and the noodle tastes like raw noodle. The soup dumplings taste like something you can buy from a frozen food section in Trader Joe’s. It’s just disappointing. But the interior is cute 🤍 love the vibe not the food
Sad to report my xo dumplings today were served luke warm and as firm as a day old gumball (and I picked them up within a few minutes of ordering). I'll pay $15 for four dumplings and a beer if those dumplings are hot and brilliantly textured, but this was a real letdown. Some of the chunks were not even chewable. My stomach is crying.
All good... until I was very ill with what can only be food poisoning after my lunch today. The pork dumplings were a bit cold... likely those.. but also had smashed cucumber and rice... Am sure it was the undercooked pork.....sorry guys... was in a nail salon and had to run for the bathroom...twice... was very unfortunate because it seemed like a cool place with good service.
Ate here last week and an awful food experience. The roast pork buns were great, but everything else was overcooked and the noodles unedible. We came here thinking it would be solid, but so disappointed, especially when the prices were double what you'd pay in chinatown.
I am Chinese and I wouldn’t even eat this stuff half off. Just trying to save other Chinese people. Try any other dim sum restaurant in Chinatown.
Echoing what the previous reviewer had said - I came into Nom Wah Nolita with high expectations. The employees were all very friendly when I walked in. I ordered the fried chicken dumplings and they looked great at first glance. Had a couple bites until I realized the texture was off. Looked at the filling and saw completely undercooked, pink, mushy chicken meat. Now (just like the previous reviewer) I’m also dealing with painful food poisoning. If you care about your health do not come to this establishment!
1st time eating at this location on Wednesday night (10/23/24). We choose this place because we were hungry, it was close and we had a good experience at pier57's nomwah, but unfortunately the experience was the same at the nolita location. We ordered 2 crispy noodles with chicken & Chinese sausage, taro cake, and Phoenix buns. And tipped $2 before trying the food, which I regret. Everything was undercooked, soggy and super greasy. The chicken was flavorless & dry, and the Chinese sausage was too salty. The bun filling looks like there's food coloring in it (radioactive neon orange). The entire staff was laughing at us for paying for it and eating it at the restaurant (rude). The free water is tap, but they claim it was filtered (liars). After eating this awful meal, we got FOOD POISIONING for 5 days! The floor of the restaurant was filthy, it made the sidewalk outside look really clean. Their bathroom has a strong smell of urine before opening the door. The entire interior of the restaurant feels sticky & greasy. The only thing worse than paying for it, was eating it. =*( This location should be shut down immediately!
It’s always awesome ordering 4 orders of dumplings and receiving 1 whole quarter cup full of dumpling sauce. Oh but wait, their policy is they don’t really give extra sauce…When you order from this spot remember to call them and remind them to send extra sauce because they don’t read tickets in the kitchen and the expeditor doesn’t read either. Enjoy!!!
Worst Chinese food I've ever had in NY Chinatown. I never leave reviews but this was so terrible I had to do it, whoever is thinking abt dining here should check out the comments left by Asian reviewers who consistently eat at Chinatown. Food came in two tiny paper plates, noodles were soggy and way too salty (with some kind strong seasoning), the milk tea tasted like brownish water (no hint of milk or tea), and the total for this meal was $31 after tax.
