I came in here after the February NYC blizzard of 2026, right after a dental procedure with my mouth numb. This is what first comes to my mind when I want to feel better. Albert and his family make the best, authentic soups and yiwananmen always is on point.

Yiwanmen is the best!!! Their jian bings and noodle soups are the best in/near Chinatown. The people working there are always very friendly and kind.

TOP 10 FAVORITES 🥇🥇 $10.85 for #2, spicy beef noodles. Yiwanmen is a hole in the wall noodle spot. Literally translates into “1 bowl of noodle.” Add extra noodles for $2 more. Nominating this for the best noodle shop in Chinatown/Little Italy 🇮🇹. Authentic & bursting with flavor. 👍 January 2024: I’m a regular here now. The owner is a nice guy with good hospitality 🙏🏻 Update: As wonderful as it gets for noodles 😊

The hot and sour rice noodles (n4) were soooo goooood. Absolutely amazing flavor and a great value. This spot has some casual seating inside so can dine in/out. Excited to go back and try more.

This food satisfies in ways that surprise and delight. The employees provided flawless attention! My meal satisfied my taste expectations. This place uses decor effectively. This restaurant keeps me coming back.

Good noodles and fast service. Order at the front desk then take a seat. I like that the noodles actually have that sichuan peppercorn numbing feeling instead of just regular spiciness.

I've had Yiwanmen (literally means "one bowl of noodles" in Chinese) on my list for ages, but somehow, I'd always forget about it when I'm in the area. I finally made a quick visit there about a month ago when I had a jian bing craving and was in Chinatown. Jian bing is a really delicious thin pancake that usually has egg, sesame seeds, scallions, hoisin sauce, hot sauce, a crispy flat cruller, amongst other savory fillings. It was a popular street food in China, but I haven't found one that tasted like the ones I'd had in Shanghai while in NYC other than one spot in Flushing. Well, now I know I can come to Yiwanmen for my jianbing fix because theirs is made to order and definitely brought me back to my days eating street food in Shanghai! A few days ago, I came back and ordered takeout: I got the Chongqing noodles, the braised beef noodle soup, the cold sweet-sour lotus root slices, and the steamed pork chive dumplings. ALL OF IT WAS AMAZING. The Chongqing noodles reminded me of the spicy-savory noodles I enjoyed while in Chengdu, Sichuan (love the preserved vegetable bits as well as the crunchy peanuts); the braised beef noodles were toothy, the beef was super tender without too much fat, and the broth was slurp worthy with a deep star anise beefy flavor The lotus root pieces were sweet, sour, crunchy, and refreshing, while the pork-chive dumplings had a very unique texture on the inside and were also very tasty. And if that wasn't enough, the tall man who works the front and takes orders is really kind and sweet. He's soft spoken, speaks Mandarin and English, and he has a really caring demeanor. He's also happy to give suggestions if you are leaning one way or another. The food comes out relatively quickly (less than 10 min), and he bags everything so thoughtfully! The prices are also fairly cheap given inflation/post-pandemic prices, which is also shocking given the high quality. Notes regarding eating in: You order at the front, pay, and then they'll bring your food to you if you're eating in. They have several tables and a counter with stools by the window. There's no restroom, unfortunately.

Got the braised beef noodles, Beijing noodles with soybean, a fish fillet crepe, and a pork belly crepe. Crepes were excellent and portion sizes could satisfy a hungry person. The noodles were also good, but I regretted not getting the spicy braised beef noodles.

I get the sense that this place is sort of a hidden gem. The food is really delicious and I don't want to understate it. I really recommend the jian bing (B1) and the ChongQing style noodle soup (N1). It really brings me back. I basically had a Ratatouille moment eating some of the food here.

We did take out on the spicy intestine noodle soup and it was delicious! The spice was a kick more than it was overwhelming which I appreciated. We also ordered all three different baos - my favorite was the duck although it is the priciest one of the bunch and the pork belly, which is more affordable, is a close second. The braised beef was good too but it was cold so preferred the other two. The dish is usually made cold so that's why the bao was as well. Great experience - will definitely come back here in the future!

Love this place. Right on the ever-eroding border of Chinatown and Little Italy, this is a small shop with a few tables and some bar seating, great food, and good value. Great spicy noodle bowls with soup or without, delicious wonton soup, a nice boat noodle style beef soup, and tasty but slightly unusual jianbing - I don't think they add a crispy fried element to every one. But there are lots of filling choices like pork belly, duck, and pork floss - yum! They do take cards, but only for $10+, and if you're dining alone you'll probably spend less than that!

Simple and no fuss small mom and pop shop with some seatings. The braised beef is so soft and the soup is not overly salted.

Frankly the jian bing was disappointing. Too sweet and saucey, quite little pork floss, though the flour crepe itself was of nice texture. The roasted duck bao has good chewiness but the duck itself fell short. The beef noodle all the same - good presentation but tastes only ok.

Had the Spicy pig intestines noodle soup (4*, turns out I don't really like intestines though it wasn't as bad as I worried, I did finish it all). The Jian Bing crepe is excellent (4.5*, I forget which type we ordered, maybe pork belly?). The Mango Basil Seed drink is decent, I wouldn't order it again though, too sweet and while it has real bits of mango in it, it somehow didn't taste that fresh, maybe because all the added sugar.

Juanbing was okay, not that special. And it was served cold? Not normal. I feel that it was over hyped by social media influencers. The service is very friendly.

This is part 2 of my so-called stakeout quick eats. I was in an unfortunate situation where I was tasked to man the car in New York City, whilst busing my MIL from one appointment to the next. What better thing to do during these moments of boredom than to scope out some good quick eats?! I did just that and was delighted to learn that just mere 10 yards ahead of my perched car was the Yiwanmen or yee won mien, which literally means one bowl of noodle. Since this was to be consumed in front of the steering wheel, I had to forgo their staple noodle entrees and go for their snacks -- specifically their savory crepes (jian bing) which were actually prominently featured in their menu. I was going for their Pork Belly Crepe for $6 based on the takeout menu. To my dismay, the new price was now $8. I thus changed my order to the Pork Belly Bao and the Beef Bao instead. It took a mere 5 minutes for my order to be ready. While welcomed in light of the fact that my car was illegally parked, it wasn't a good sign for the food. The buns weren't very fluffy; I had to wonder if their were microwaved. The visuals were enticing; unfortunately that was dampened by their miniature sizes. I'd liken them to the size of my credit card. A bit of a bummer. The pickled radish gave each bite a nice crunch, along with a sweet and acidic kick; however, the pork belly wasn't moist like I had expected. Between the two, I preferred the beef Bao, partly because I had no expectation. Despite the modern glass exterior, this is a hole-in-the-wall joint with charming interior and fun menu items. While not impressed on this outing, I wouldn't mind trying their other offerings in the future -- but not their baos.

The food tasted great but got sick the next day so maybe they need to fix their hygiene in the back or something definitely was because of the noodles given I didn’t eat anything else yesterday sigh, or now editing but probably it’s the spicy sauce DONT USE IT it’s probably been sitting on the table for weeks without replacement and yes I know spicy sauce is usually fine cause germs can’t live but this sauce wasn’t spicy enough and lowkey idk if it’s cause of the stuff they added or maybe just how long it’s been o but it tasted mad sour too??? Sucks cause the food was so good too now I won’t have a good image of them :// Edit: called them and they were rude and even told me they were busy so then said they had to hang up…

This place is mediocre at best. The minced pork noodles (no broth) was too watery and wasn’t authentic at all. They mixed up our order and the service was terrible with an attitude. We came since all the other places were booked out. The place is super small as well (fitting like 15 people max).

Came here on a Sunday evening to grab a quick bite to eat and the store was completely empty. I really wanted to like this place because their menu has a lot of classic Chinese snacks that I enjoy. Sadly the jianbing was not great, kind of mushy and the sausage wasn’t super pleasant to eat. The pork belly bun was also a bit overwhelmingly fatty, but the roast duck bun was really delicious, albeit expensive ($5.50). The employee was also very rude when we cleaned up after ourselves & brought our tray back to the counter to ask if there is a place we should return it (vs just leaving it on the table).
