Nice place with good food. One of our kids go to college here, never had a bad experience. I highly recommended it.
Great food! Good variety of food in the menu, and decently priced. They serve breakfast at any time during the day!
Love the outside dining and the big menu! Lots to choose from! They are reasonably priced and it's a great family environment!
Love the food and the workers. Everyone is so sweet and friendly. A great place to bring your family.
Eat here every couple years as I pass through. Classic family restaurant with booths, tables, counter. Huge menu, great prices.
Very clean. Quick service and delicious diner food. Budget friendly too! Loved it!
The food is delicious and very large portions. Quick service and a friendly atmosphere.
Go every year when we drop my son off at Alfred State. Great food and service
Great place for Breakfast. Gotta try it for lunch sometime. Update 11/23/2021. Stopped for lunch. Buffalo chicken melt Yum!!!
I have been coming to the jet since I was nine years old every Sunday morning and when I do there is always people being cheery, can’t forget our waitress, so nice
Tried out the new food truck.... Delicious sandwich!! Highly recommend the Andover!
Old school diner with a college town theme. Large menu with tasty lunch and breakfast food. Amazing prices, fantastic staff, comfortable seating. A great experience for a great deal!
Was great food and service. Eat here everytime we go visit our son at college. Tried many meals all have been great
Great food and a great bargain! The people working there are friendly and service was speedy. A must for breakfast when visiting Alfred U!
Great American food at terrific prices! Another visit will be coming in the near future!
My son goes 2 college here and I try 2 visit him at least 2 times a month so I can go here for breakfast, then I get my son and we get lunch here.. The food is awesome, they have a huge menu and the best cooks and waitresses around..
Stopped in for a quick bite for lunch. Food was good service was fast and friendly, the price was right on target. Definitely recommend
Awesome place to eat. Had a Philly steak sandwich and it was amazing!!!! It was so big. And the waitresses we're awesome and cute.
Great food, great service! Vegetarian options. Pie! We like to sit on the patio - which has heat in the autumn- and talk to friends and neighbors.
My go to restaurant in Alfred. Eat there every week and the staff is always friendly. Food is like a good home cooked meal. Try the hot chocolate. It's to die for!
Something for your every mood. Outdoor and indoor seating with bar stool seating also available. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner with daily specials. Awesome John's plate. Great fish fry on Friday. Get the burger upgrade, its fresher beef. Low prices but they will charge for any and all substitutions and side sauces.
An Alfred staple. Great food, people, and prices. I was really excited to go back during alumni weekend and have the same delicious breakfast and cinnamon buns as I remember when I was at school. The new restaurant is really nice and perfectly captures the feel of the old building and layout.
Every Sunday: Weekend trip with my daughter, Christina. Order Blueberry pancakes, eggs and unlimited coffee. What more can you ask for. Food, salads and specials are delicious, services is friendly and efficient, and price is very, very reasonable. Lots of alumni, friends and locals visit daily and often. No wonder why. A great place to visit and dine with friends. RR
I absolutely love The Jet! It is my go to for brunches on the weekends. They have pretty simple but delicious food, for cheap prices even college kids can afford. Not only is breakfast served all day but the undecided John plate is a must have when you want everything on the breakfast page. It has very friendly staff and you almost always see at least one of your professors there!
Food was excellent, and they had gluten free bread which is really important to me. Server was very friendly, attentive but not hovering. Very reasonably priced.
Cheap, delicious food (even vegan options for my girl). Super friendly staff. Everyone goes to this restaurant, so you always end up seeing someone you know, if you're into that.
One of my favorite places to eat. Small hometown atmosphere whee the food is delicious and they treat you like family.
Great meal in a family environment. Where college students and local families are intermingled. With $0.75 bottomless coffee and priced right food, can't go wrong.
Cool spot ...great prices and service. Food is typical diner but did have some of our meal come out cold. They were happy to take back though. We'd definitely go back.
I'm shocked by the one star reviews. I go to The Jet at least once a week with my family and the food is always spot on. We get breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the quality is good and never overly greasy like some comments indicate. The service is always consistently good, and you cannot beat the prices. If you don't want the grease of food cooked on a flat top, order a sub, sandwich, salad, wrap, turkey dinner, roast beef dinner, or any of the other dishes on the huge menu. People who've rated it poorly really should try it again!
I’ve been eating at the jet back when it was on the upper corner of main st before part of the building burnt down. I love the Jet and always have. I’ve never had bad food here. Breakfast lunch and dinner here it’s never bad. They’re specials are always so good too.
I've only tried a limited part of their large menu so far but I can say with absolute confidence that this place is great. The service is quick, the food is delicious, the employees are incredibly nice, and the prices are amazing. Highly recommend the Honey BBQ Melt. I look forward to having many more meals here.
Fantastic place! Food is amazing and even better prices. Friendly staff. I can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu
Excellent food! Excellent price AND our server "Owen" was beyond excellent! His parents should be proud ❤️ He was kind, courteous and attentive (and they were swamped) he never quit smiling!
I love The Jet. Staff is always friendly and the prices are very affordable. If it isn't on the menu, just ask and they will make it anyway. There is outdoor seating and the food is great. Taco Tuesday is amazing.
Great Restraunt! The food was really good, and fast service. Definitely will go back the next time we are in the area.
Food was good diner food with fast service. I ordered a sub salad and it was great. Tasted just like a turkey sub minus the roll. Everyone enjoyed their meal and we will return as my husband is an Alfred Alum.
I've been here several times while visiting my college kid. Homestyle comfort foods. Huge portions. They have GLUTEN FREE bread and rolls! Decent sized place in a tiny 2 college town. Frequented by students, parents and academic types. Good service, good food, good price.
Food is always awesome cooks are great. Some of the best waitresses ever and my favorite being maggie.. I got to see her for 1st time since covid started and just as nice as ever... ((( still same jet ))) still the best food and staff around, don't change a thing... A must stop for eats if in area
I have been to the Jet multiple times as I am a student at Alfred University( will be entering my senior year this year, so its bittersweet). The Jet is the best, the atomosphere is friendly and its a great place to eat at Alfred! I usually order the sweet and sass chicken wings with fries and they are absolutely delicious, highly recommend that you try those wings if you have not! Thank you Collegiate for your amazing kindness, hard work and delicious food to the Alfred Community, I know I am going to miss it once I wrap up my senior year at Alfred University :)
An awesome place to eat. The staff are actually happy! Not the usual fake smile you get at most diners. The perfect little place for this awesome little town! Oh and the food is unexpectedly delicious 😋
We made the trip to NY from Ohio to visit Bicycleman and they recommended the Collegiate ( and a few other local spots) for lunch. We got in the door and found the place packed! We didn't wait long for a table but the diner stayed very busy. And yes, it was worth it! Bacon burger was generous and flavorful. Onion rings were perfect! Coffee was delicious. Guess the crowd was right!
Has changed a lot since A State took it over, but it's still a town staple.
Great fast service with even better food! If Im ever in town again I will definitely be back!!!
I used to live in the area. My mother still does. When I come to visit The Jet and another local restaurant are places I visit first and second. Then I will go again at least one more time before I leave. I don't make my mother cook I just revisit these restaurants over and over while I'm there. I don't get back that often so I have to get my fix
They were very busy and it took a bit to get a table but the service was great despite that, very friendly and came to check when the server was able. Only complaint was that the eggs on the eggs Benedict were fully cooked instead of runny. Other than that, I was happy with the service and food.
The nino 's. Family has run this business since 1949. I believe I have been going there since 1975. Just a wonderful family run and own business in a small college town. Good food, good service. Lots of smiles
We made a special 50 mile motorcycle trip just to have their burger. I worked out this way last year and had one of the best burgers I've ever had. Definitely a gem in a small college town.
Boy oh Boy I was here in town to bring a group of high school students to visit Alfred state for a tour, by the time we arrived I was FAMISHED. I googled food near me and The Collegiate was the 1st location to pop up I had already decided what I was gonna order from looking at a menu I saw on Yelp I was so undecided so i ordered The Jack Plate it had a little bit of everything on it 1French Toast 1Pancake 1 strip of bacon 1 sausage 1 large scrambled egg ( Well any way you want it) and Home fries the home fries are the best they were seasoned to perfection and cooked down with onions oh My goodness I couldn’t stop eating them the food was absolutely Delicious…. my Lord, the Carrot Cake!!!!! It was so moist you can taste all the spices that carrot cake is supposed to have and the cream cheese frosting did me in I’m STUFFED I do declare, every town needs a COLLEGIATE with great service, Great Food at fair prices I wish I didn’t live so far so I could try more than just the Breakfast. I live in Rochester 1hr 30min drive. I should’ve taken the picture of the carrot cake before I started eating it but I couldn’t help myself.
I been there before, had a burger once and tacos another time. I was working in the area and wanted lunch but they were full when I tried the first time so I went back to work for a bit and came back and was able to get a seat then. This time I had a philly cheese and waffle fries and yes, it was bangin good! All the young ladies there are really nice and good at what they do too.
It is a cute little college restruant! The price for each meal is pretty cheap but the food is still good! The inside looks older than the outside of the restaurant
Good food, a bit pricey I think for the location and quality but the service was swell and no complaints.
Wonderful service, great food and fair prices! Highly recommend going out to eat here with friends or family
Ordered cold roast beef sub to go during their breakfast time, a good sub with little bit too much mayo but good sub.
Great atmosphere and great prices. Our server was funny and very kind to me and my friends. I would highly recommend this place.
Great service, good food, Best fish fry I have ever had. My son goes to Alfred and likes eating there also.
It reminds me my school life. The person who is making omelets look like she was boring a good care and love into all of the food she was cooking. I loved this place. Hope to go often.
After two years I can safely say I have tried everything on the menu. They have a wide selection to choose from and nothing is bad. They also have a wide range of delicious desserts. The staff is awesome and I’m definitely going to miss them.
It’s ok. It’s an old school local cafe that serves standard cafe fare. Dishes we’ve had were served and tasted as expected. Tried , true, consistent, and fairly priced. Outdoor seating is nice.
The staff were very nice, and the food was made quickly and delicious, except maybe for the sausage it looked and tasted like the cheap convince store meat. But overall everything was great, I had the pancakes(3 hot cakes) with sausage, a side of two eggs and a English muffin, with coffee. I payed almost $12 for a decently sized meal, at a cheap price compared to back at nyc for the same meal for almost $15-18 bucks, I'd come back sometime maybe once every other week as to not ware out the novelty of the the place.
Good food: chicken sandwich was 2 tenders which were nicely seasoned. The fries where great. friendly staff. 2 people at out table adjusted my order to remove toppings and they still came with them anyways. I will be returning.
The Jet is always a go-to for me and for my friends. As a college student with little spending cash per week, the Jet's prices are unbeatable for a sit-down restaurant. The food is great, however sometimes when things get crowded, it takes a while for a waitress to come over. With that said, it is a double college town so it's always packed and they usually handle the crowd very well. The owner/manager is always visible and bussing tables alongside the other staff. Great place to go any day of the week!
Great place to get good food at fair prices. A must try is the Greek burger with a dollop of their amazing chili on that bad boy and don't forget the jalapenos. If anything the corn nuggets and pizza logs are always a good affordable combo. Cheers🍻
This is a historical place. It's been around for about 100 years, it opened when my grandpa was about 5 years old. He would eat there often, usually Saturdays after Church services. He would take us, family, there pretty often. Our family has gone there for years. My cousin worked there when he was in college at AU, about 6 plus years ago. This is one of our favorite places in Alfred.
Classic college greek diner. Used to come here regularly as a student. Some entrees are not great but the breakfast is always satisfying. Sadly they close at 3 and used to do late nigtlht dinner. I'm guessing covid changed the model. Just glad to see it was packed. And the prices...so affordable
I've been here a few times and every time has been good. Good food, good cleanliness, good service no it's not fine dining but it is a good place to eat with good prices. The only time I've ever had a problem was last time when the waiter/kitchen forgot to put the side of chips on with my sandwich but when asked I got a big portion (end of bag)
Good food and ample portions. The bussers are not quick at clearing tables though so some folks were seated at tables filled with dirty dishes.
Ordered the cajun blue cheese burger. Way too much cajun seasoning. That was all you could taste. Was expecting blue cheese crumbles. It had about a teaspoon of bland blue cheese dressing on it. First disappointing meal I have ever had here. It was just plain bad!!!
Food is mediocre and a bit over priced, likely because this has historically been one of the only restaurants in town. Sides which are standard at normal diners, such as french fries for a burger or home fries with breakfast, are up to $3 extra. Save your money, walk down the street, and get better food for almost the same price at the Rosebush
Fried chicken was tad dry and smelled fishy. The mixed veggies were nasty bone dry apple sauce was good and the corn nuggets were good the dinner roll was cold. Service was good love my waitress her coworker was bitchie when she took over my table and said she couldn't wait to have her day off
Was good last year. But this year we waited at least 20 minutes before someone took our order; no one wiped down our table and the outside was dirty. Food was mediocre but not bad
Place is located in a college town, looks like it's been part of the community for a very long time. Food was ok, staff was friendly. The booth we were at was a bit beat up and there were some crumbs on the bench I had to wipe off before I sat.
If you want fresh, homemade food this really isn't the place to go. I've only ate here twice, but I know their chips are Lays original wavy, and their salad is bagged salad from the store. Very disappointing.
It's a restaurant with the theme of frats paddling each other. At least the food is good. Service was wack. We never received our drinks until after food arrived.
Server was amazing. One order had an unwanted item added that wasn't listed on the menu that altered the meal altogether. Nobody should have to pay for a meal that wasn't correct.
Food was OK, turkey club was basic. Prices were reasonable. However, the cook- tall thin fellow with scraggly brown hair & mustache and the young blonde woman plating the food, both had their face masks tucked under their chins, and the cool wasn't wearing gloves. Meanwhile there are signs everywhere asking people to keep masks on even at the table, "for the protection of the servers". And BTW, we got a new server, we were told, because our original one wasn't feeling well. But she didn't leave, she kept serving her tables, i guess to get the tip. In the middle of all this, the owner or manager is putting together a fly/ wasp trap to hang by the door , but it's laying on top of the empty food plates as he's putting it together. All in all very disturbing.
I like the large booths and college atmosphere but the service was disappointing. Our waitress forgot to bring our drinks and then forgot our straws and said she would be right back with them but she forgot again and my daughter had to go to the counter to get them. Charged each of us 50 cents extra for croutons on our salad which I think is pretty lame since salads were included with our dinner and I have NEVER been charged extra for croutons at a sit-down restaurant.
Was way over charged. 5 onion rings 5.25. Menu says 3.90. Drinks were 2.70 each for foundation soda. We had ordered 2 fish frys, a burrito, onion rings, and side salad with 3 Drinks. $55.23. I reviewed this with our waitress, she showed me the small print on front of the menu that says prices subject to change. She apologized and said she doesn't make the prices. Service was quick and friendly, but because of the unexpected bill she received no tip.
My family just had lunch at The Collegiate "The Jet" in Alfred, NY. My meal was so greasy and unedible that I called the waitress over to send it back and just settle for an order of fries that I hoped they wouldn't mess up. The portobello burger was wet with grill grease and the home fries I ordered as a side barely tasted like potatoes and were covered with an orange tinged grease. I took two bites of the burger and knew I wouldn't be able to eat it. The waitress came back a few minutes later and informed me that I would still have to pay the meal (that I didn't eat). I was infuriated at the very idea. When I asked why she claimed the manager said it was not their fault I didn't like it so I had to pay for it. Naturally I was disgusted and said so. I canceled my fries. She went back and spoke to the manager and he took half off. My husband's patty melt looked like prison food and his eggplant fries were dripping in grease. Word to the wise, stay away.
Myself & wife, my son & his wife, & my grandson went to this restaurant on parents weekend just this weekend. We had a terrible expierance. It started out with my son who wanted a cheeseburger sub. The waitress said that they were out of sub rolls, not so bad he ordered something else. Then our salads came out, it was dropped on my wife's lap. (Oh well accidents happen.} Then our dinners came out. My fried chicken came out, it was so over done the wing & leg was none existent, then my appetizer came out after my diner. My wife's fried steak had about a table spoon of gravy on it. When we asked for our rolls they said they were out of dinner rolls also out of ketchup my son never got veggies, I could go on & on but not enough space. Shame on the owners. You should never run out of SUB ROLLS, DINNER ROLLS, KETCHUP, & OTHER THINGS. Also never offered any compensation. Bottom line HORRIBLE,. vary disappointed.
Doesn’t even deserve a star! Metal was in my food, when I brought it back the worker went to the chief & the chiefs respond was “I was only going to make them over if they brought it back”. So he knowingly knew that there was metal in my food. I WILL be reporting this to DOH & the better business bureau!
I have never felt more uncomfortable in my life. Went here literally five minutes ago and me and two of my friends went to grab a table. We waited to be seated but the girl at the front desk said we could sit anywhere. So we first waited for 11 mins before we got a menu. So after that we were told someone will be with us shortly and after another 15 mins we noticed that all of the servers were walking around and greetino other people who got in after us and made it appear as we were invisible. After they greeted the others they would move off to the side and started talking and laughing. After another 10 mins me and my friends got up and left. When we got up a staff member came over quickly and cleaned off our table. Me and my friends are all African American and it really sucked that we were treated that way, I used to attend Alfred a few years ago and never experienced that the whole time I was there. I definitely want to go back and give them a piece of my mind but it is not even worth it. Racism sucks!!!!!
Absolutely awful service. Waited 30 minutes just to get a refill on my drink. Let alone everyone's food I was with was not very well. The food wasn't good. The mashed potatoes and fries were the only good thing that I got served.
prices are way to High for the quantity of food given. appetizers come after dinner? waitress waited a half hr after we were done eating to bring check to us. after we had asked twice for it. brought wrong salad dressing out three times. chicken was cold fries were small portion.
Just had the worst dinner ever. . . just spent $19.53 for a fish fry, krout dog, french fries with gravy and a slice of pie. Got home with it and there was no pie and no krout on the dog. The fish fry was very disappointing. Pretty good they forget the pie and krout for the dog, but didn't forget to charge us for it. The only thing that tasted good was the fries and gravy.
Great place.. too bad they’re never open. Daughter is a senior at Alfred State and freshman year, we would always choose this place. We’re only an hour away, so we visit frequently & it hasn’t been open on any visit since.
It took us 10 minutes to place a drink order. Ordered two diet cokes, she had to come back to ask again what we ordered. Took our food order, did not write it down so we will see... They are not busy at all.. 4 tables, 7 waitress. The parking sucks as well.. Good luck!!
Went there today 11-14-25. It is now owned by Alfred State. Been coming here for 20years. Friday morning at 10am, There were 4 customers seated at tables. Plenty of staff there, 3 cooks on the grill. 45 minutes to get 2 eggs, home fries, sausage, toast and a water!! An older blonde haired lady took my order. 20 minutes goes by, I complain to the waitress and specifically asked her if my order went in she said yes, let me check? She comes back it will be just a couple minutes. 10 minutes goes by a different waitress comes by an older lady and asks if anyone is taken care of me I said yes but the service is extremely slow. This older lady was great and hustled my order to the front of the line. My order never went in, the blonde lady never put it in. The older lady said she will comp my bill. I never got so much as an apology from the blonde waitress. Meanwhile the “manager” is at a table talking to the college president. The food came out, eggs were hot, toast was cold as were the sausage paddies. Home fries were ok. Very poorly managed restaurant. Get these kids some more training and find a new manager who cares about the customers. I will give it one more chance.
They are closed but have a food truck serving. I ordered a chicken sandwich and the breast was raw! I took a bite and hope I don’t get sick. I’d give it a zero or Negative if it allowed.
