I was served by and got the opportunity to speak with the owner. He was friendly and very cordial. The food was top rate! I explained to the owner " Miguel " that I was born in Alturas and had often come in after school for an ice cream. The last time I was at Harold's Frosty I was eight years old, 45 years ago! He then handed me an Ice cream cone and said " This is to help you remember " I sat there eating that cone and the memories of a little boy washed over me. I am grateful for that moment. So please, stop in and say hi to Miguel for me. I don't know when I'll be back. Baron.

I was undecided about Harold’s or other type of fast food, I’m glad I chose Harold’s, delicious old fashion burger, fries and fried onion rings were just superb, the milkshake was just extraordinary and delicious, next time We come back to Alturas we will make sure go to Harold’s for lunch

' Cute' establishment that serves shakes too. seating area has about 7 booths and seems a little cramped. Parking isn't exactly liberal either. Good view of main street and truck commodities passing by or the local deer walking around with their offspring. The bucks walking around in velvet ?? woohoo...

I’ve been coming here for 35+ years. I don’t think it’s always been under the same ownership or management but it’s always the highlight of my time in Alturus. The burgers are awesome, the fries servings are huge and the malted/milkshakes are worth the stop on their own. I can still play Mrs. Pac-Man too!!

Great hole in the wall! Food was fantastic! Fries were fresh, they tasted like they used a potato and not the frozen kind. Burger was really good too and the shake was real ice cream, creamy cold chocolatey goodness! I would come in every day if I lived in this tiny town!

Classic American shake shack. The burgers are great. Very fresh meat, handmade patties and crisp lettuce, tomatoes and onions. The shake was very tasty. They have so many choices when it comes to treats it was hard to choose. Will make this a regular stop on our drive.

Double cheese burgers are great! French fries were not fresh. The gentleman who took our order was friendly and efficient in taking our order.

I give this place 4 stars because their food quality alone. The workers are nice, and the service can take a bit of time, but I definitely think its made up for with how good the food is. Usually food wait time is around 10 to 15 minutes. Also they have some really good milkshakes.

For the type of classic frosty/burger stand quality food they present, this place isn't too shabby. If you're NOT looking for a gourmet burger, this place will do just fine. I was quite honestly repulsed by the sweet pickles on the bacon cheeseburger, because dill is the way I prefer them...but, otherwise, a good burger. Onion rings were soggy instead of crisp...good malt though. A bit overpriced, although I do blame the state of California for that...they're the reason every business is failing.

Enjoyed theie burger and fries plus fast service even when they were busy.. the fries are handcut and tasty. The perfect balance of crispy ones and soggy ones that I like though a little less salt would make them even better.. The burger was very juicy and I liked tthat they use sweet pickle instead of dill. Walked away happy and satisfied. I also enjoyed the retro burger stand vibe.

This place has a lot of history to it actually and was one of my favorite places to go in high school everyday for lunch. They have great milkshakes and awesome theme on the inside. Great place for kids. You can choose a ton of different toppings for your icecream

Ordered a hamburger and it was delicious wasn't big enough with mostly bread so it did feel me up the bread did hamburger was cooked itself nicely french fries that my boyfriend got or a little over there price was a little high.

Decent food. Slow service, understaffed. One cook, probably the owner. One teenager at the counter, talking with friends. Had other errands, so I orderd my 2 milkshakes and said I'd be back after I picked up a To-Go order from Antonio's down the street. 15 minutes later, she saw mw coming, drimks were ready. Middle of nowhere, was happy to find a place to eat. Unfortunately this burger joint didn't smell like burgers and fries. Didn't smell like anything until a very sweaty nasty man walked it and it smelled like week old armpit with armpit on top. I didn't order but my friend said the burger and fries were about avg, nothing to write home about. The guy at the register was quite not happy or smiley just an rbf displayed. I was hoping for a good old country dinner with big happy smiles and the smell of good food permeating the place. Either way, grateful for a place to eat and a clean bathroom, interesting photo decor.

It's a nice little place. No air conditioning, but at least Alturas summers aren't too bad. I liked the Ms. Pacman machine in the back. The food was very tasty, and there's a lot of it. However, over $50 for a couple burgers and fries with shakes, and chicken strips for the kid is a bit much. I don't really see myself visiting again any time soon for this reason alone. If the prices were better this would probably be a regular place for us.

Take it off the menu then. Fries were okay, per my husband who is picky about fries. The girl was working by herself and got our order out in a timely manner, pleasantly. Remember this is a Frosty, the typical burger place you see in most rural places, so I didn't pay attention to the prices as we ordered. We ordered 2 double cheeseburgers a regular fry, and a medium soda, the total price for the meal was just about $38.00! I understand everyone has to make a living, but give me a break almost $40 for a couple burgers, a soda, and fries.

The staff was friendly, confident and did a good job. However, the prices were insane!! I paid over $17 for a burger no pickle no cheese, medium fries, and a medium shake. The fries were way too salty, the dog wouldn't even eat them, the shake was mediocre at best, and the burger was dry. Plus a few for using debit card. Not going back...

The hamburgers were soggy by the time we got across the street to go to the motel we were staying in. The tomatoes were on the bottom which made it mushy. Terrible customer service and way overpriced menu.

Sorry but I was very disappointed. The only burger joint in town. The fries were old. The service was poor. And the burgers were mediocre at best. I believe that them being the only burger joint makes him think that they can serve food that is less than stellar because it's the only place to buy a burger but. There's a gas station down the street called The pit stop which I enjoyed at Burger from the other day and it was excellent the fries were great. The cook was pretty good with his service. Not only that but he was running the gas station at the same time.
