Wow, wow, wow! We read about Mawa's and dropped in for lunch last Wednesday. Our food was amazing and the roasted tomato soup and jerk chicken were sublime! We loved Mawa's so much, we came back two days later for dinner. The gumbo tasted like heaven! And three cheers for the bartender who made such an amazing orange cocktail, we had two! I wish I remembered the name of the drink. Service was impeccable! Thant you!!!

Mawa’s Kitchen is truly a hidden gem in Aspen/Snowmass. If you enjoy exploring diverse flavors and trying something new, this is a restaurant not to be missed. As a self proclaimed foodie, I’m continually impressed, every dish is creative, thoughtfully crafted, and consistently exceptional. Their vegetarian offerings, in particular, are the best I’ve experienced anywhere. The service is equally outstanding, and Chef Mawa herself is a radiant presence, bringing her passion and joy for cooking straight to the table. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a distinctive and inspiring culinary experience in our community.

The flavor of the food here is next-level!! And the staff was so friendly and accommodating. The gnocchi was so delicious, light yet comforting, and the peach burrata was melt in your mouth. What a beautiful dinner amidst the mountains. Easily the best food in Aspen.

Mawa's Kitchen is a delightful brunch spot that excels in both flavor and variety. We tried the Denver omelette and French toast, both of which were exceptional. The omelette was hearty, packed with fresh ingredients, and the French toast was perfectly fluffy and decadent. I also appreciated the vegan options, particularly the tofu scramble, which was a satisfying alternative that didn’t skimp on taste. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great place to relax over a leisurely meal. While the prices are slightly on the higher side, the portion sizes are generous, ensuring you leave feeling full and satisfied. Overall, Mawa's Kitchen is a must-visit for brunch lovers looking for quality dishes and inclusive options.

Phenomenal food and excellent serve. What a way to end my solo trip to Aspen. Till next time! A must if you are in the area and want an exceptional breakfast.

This is by far the best restaurant in Aspen. It might not be in the center of town, but it is so worth the small drive to get to it. The food is fresh and delicious and most of it is organic with a unique twist. Their brunch is incredible, Highly recommend the pancakes and shakshuka. Such amazing food and we listened to a live jazz band! Truly the best Sunday brunch in Aspen. A must!!

This is a very unassuming place, especially for a Michelin rated restaurant. I went for brunch and got the shakshuka and the lavender matcha latte. Both were FANTASTIC and I've had these items several times from other restaurants. The service was quick and attentive, the drink and food came out quickly, and everything was at a perfect temperature. The best part? Brunch here is very reasonably priced for the area, the quality, and the prestige. It's certainly not cheap, but it is a great value if you appreciate good food.

Amazing! There was no detail left undone. The service was incredible for a busy Sunday morning, coffee hot, fresh juices, and everything was made from scratch. They are known for the pancakes and we decided to order a 1/2 after breakfast. Definitely worth it. Best we have ever had. When we come back to the area, we will be stopping here again!

The ingredients were so fresh, and the food itself tasted wonderful. Everything felt fresh and full of flavor. The beautiful flowers, warm atmosphere, and friendly staff made the experience absolutely perfect. I truly enjoyed every moment here!

I would never expect food and service of this quality in a location like this, but the juxtaposition just adds to the kitchen's allure. Everything we ordered was delicious, prepared with forethought, and executed exceptionally well. It was pretty cool to see Chef Mawa hanging out at the bar and making rounds in the restaurant, too. This place has a loving vibe that makes you feel good, and it's not something I've ever quite experienced the same way before. From the oldies cycling through the speakers in the background to the uniqueness of the menu, African fusion cuisine has arrived in.... Aspen, Colorado? of all places and with heart warming effect. We started with the Bread Board and Berbere Grilled Shrimp, both of which served as a reminder that simple food done right and painted with the flavors of cultural connection are interesting, fun, and can taste great. I had the Chicken Maffe and left no crumb behind. My wife and Mom each ordered the Chicken Yassa and enjoyed their dishes as well. Oh, and the desserts were great. Our only regret is not coming in with bigger appetites to enjoy a fourth round! The service was amazing, too! Not to mention, it's relatively affordable for a Michelin level eatery. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Great place to eat especially if you have been traveling for hours and have flown into town and just landed. You literally grab your bags walk across the street, have a seat in a nice cozy setting, and Chow down on a great meal. That's how close it is from the airport. Well worth the small walking distance for a great Aspen meal 😋.

We came to Mawa’s since we saw how many great reviews it had and it truly did not disappoint. The service was impeccable. Every employee was so attentive to our needs, our server knew the menu so well and listened to my food sensitivities and recommended stuff on the menu for me. The place is beautifully decorated, the location is a bit further out but it was perfect to be away from all the rush in downtown Aspen.

I met Mawa at the Aspen Farmer's Market. She was friendly and open. She invited my friend and me to her restaurant and I'm so grateful we went because the food was excellent. It was fresh and healthy. And the staff were so nice! They were helpful, kind and easy-going. Probably the nicest staff I have encountered for a long time.

I was headed to catch a flight back home and had to stop by to what I hear is the only black owned restaurant in Aspen. So it was a must and it did not disappoint! Here are my thoughts: Environment Located not too far from the airport in what is considered to be like an airport business area its very accessible to folks coming in to town. Although it's not located in the dainty downtown area it has plenty of character. It's a beautiful restaurant with a lot of character. Plenty of dining space with a whole other section that includes a lounge section. They also have a full bar area. Service Very friendly from the moment that I entered the space. Very welcoming and accommodating and always approached with a smile. Really enjoyed the service and everyone made sure I had everything that I needed. Food and Drinks I had the pancakes and scrambled eggs w/ cheese and a mocha. Everything was delicious. The pancakes were fluffy and warm and the eggs were perfectly made. The mocha was just right and was comforting on a cold snowy day in Aspen. The pancakes are high on my list for my favorite. Overall If i ever find myself back in Aspen this will be the first place I go and the first place I recommend to anyone. I enjoyed myself and loved the food and the space. Don't walk here, run here (well first get use to the elevation and then run here lol)

Zak and the entire staff were beyond friendly, helpful and truly elevated our dining experience. To celebrate Juneteenth at this amazing restaurant was an experience to remember. The ox tails and the suya beef skewers were my personal favorite, although, everything was delicious and a beautiful presentation. Hats off to the chef, the owner and the staff! New traditions loading…😋☺️👍🏾👍🏾🫶🏾✊🏾

Amazing experience. We stopped by because our flight from Aspen airport was delayed. We had a great experience. Just 5 min from the airport. The brunch was delicious. My husband had the eggs Benedict and I the vegetarian egg as Benedict, both were just perfect. Eggs soft as they should be. The carrot ginger juice was delicious. Environment is very nice, beautiful bar, and nice view. Good and quick service. Strongly recommend.

Enjoyed a delightful breakfast at Mawas near the Aspen airport. The huevos rancheros I ordered were delicious, while my wife was thoroughly impressed with the puffy French toast. Our son couldn't get enough of the chocolate pancakes. The coffee and fresh fruit were perfect complements. The standout service coupled with the spacious outdoor patio boasting scenic views made our experience exceptional. Also noted a well-stocked bar for those interested. Highly recommend when in Aspen!

Branched out and got the French omelette— it was delicious and the simple salad served with it was such a nice compliment. Highly recommend the lavender matcha latte as well! I have yet to have a “mid” meal at Mawas.

This place is absolutely phenomenal. I had the exotic mushroom omelette and it was delicious, however I did have a bit of FOMO looking at the eggs Benedict that my other friends ordered. Either way the food was great, the carrot ginger juice was well worth nine bucks, the wait staff and help staff was really amazing. We even moved halfway through the meal to get better shade on the patio and they did not chastise us as I, as an ex server, might have thought about. In reality, a really great place, fairly expensive but expected for being that close to the Aspen airport, and we all left with a smile on our face.

We’re celebrated our 7th anniversary here and the food and ambiance did not disappoint! Amazing service! Delicious food. We also loved how present Mawa was checking in on customers and making conversation. If we’re ever back in Aspen, we will definitely be returning. 10/10

From the moment you walk in you know you are about to have a great dinner experience. The hostess and waiters are attentive/polite; the appetizer and dinner food is DELICIOUS. The meat was tender, sides seasoned to perfection, and portion was worth every penny. (Note the to go bag to savor every bite). I spent a week in Aspen/Snowmass eating at different restaurants, and this evening by far was the best meal I had (5 Star quality)! I will be returning.

This place is incredible! I took my son for a mommy and me day and we decided to start our day here. We are both huge fans of breakfast and it was FANTASTIC to say the least. We both agreed it was the best breakfast we have ever had… and we eat breakfast out a lot!!! Service was great as well! We will definitely be back next time we come through!

Out of the way (a bonus), lots of outdoor seating, attentive wait staff. And food was amazing- I am a vegetarian and there were so many options. Had the Maffe (peanut-based curry) which was great. And fun cocktails (Queen bee) and desserts which were excellent.

The best pancakes we have ever had (not kidding, what's the secret?!) served to us by the kindest staff. Lovely decor. A must when in Aspen and in an interesting location. Follow my Google profile for more reviews!

Good place for branch during trip to Aspen. It is located across the street from the local airport. Service is good. Food is good too.

The most AMAZING meal you can have in Aspen is at Mawa’s! It is a staple to any Aspen trip, with delicious, rich dishes that have heaping portions you’ll never leave without a full and happy tummy! And an amazing selection of desserts too!

Unexpectedly great spot for breakfast or brunch. I would not have known the place existed if not been stuck between Aspen and snowmass and looking for a quick bite. They have some outside seating, and an indoors space that you access going through their catering kitchen. The food is high quality and the menu is great for all tastes

Amazing food, great service, and unique location. I would’ve never thought that chicken and waffles could be this scrumptious.

Best restaurant in Aspen, hands down. Higher-end restaurants in Aspen can’t escape the US ski-town dilemma: ok food at exorbitant prices. Mawa offers a nice range of veg and meat dishes, all beautifully prepared. Go after 6 to get thru traffic at the roundabout on the way to the Aspen Airport Business Ctr. Escape high-priced US ski-town mediocrity !!!

Definitely a MUST in your Where To Eat in Aspen list! The food presentation was gorgeous, everything looked like they came out from the pages of a food magazine! And the taste? Delicious! Chef's kiss!

Did weekend brunch with live jazz music. Kudos to all musicians. Created perfect ambience. Ordered Salmon Egg Benedict on latke which was perfectly crispy , egg came exactly how it was ordered “hard poached” Farm to table fresh quality ingredients used in side salad. Carrot ginger juice was also really fresh. Great experience over all !!!

Mawa’s Kitchen delivers a dining experience where passion and technique truly shine. The dishes are beautifully executed, full of depth, and thoughtfully presented. Combined with attentive service and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s one of the most memorable restaurants in Aspen.

really special pop up dinner at Mawa's kitchen with a Vietnamese restaurant from NYC- Saigon Social. the dinner was executed perfectly and the food was delicious. You don't often get such superlative South East Asian food and it was a real treat!

The food was unbelievably tasty. The benedict eggs were the best I've ever had. The atmosphere is very nice and they were playing Christmas music in the background. I plan to come back.

My taste buds haven’t had an experience like in a long time. You think you’ve tasted it all and then you find yourself at Mawa’s Kitchen. Not to mention the amazing staff. Rogrigo, you made our night. Cheers.

I had a wonderful dining experience at Mawas Kitchen. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a cozy yet elegant vibe that made the evening feel special. The service was attentive and friendly, and the staff were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to give recommendations. The food was beautifully presented and full of flavor. Each dish felt thoughtfully prepared, with a great balance of seasoning and fresh ingredients. From the appetizers to the main course, everything was satisfying and well-executed. Overall, Mawas Kitchen is a great place for a relaxed but refined dining experience. I would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food and excellent service.

We had an absolutely fantastic New Year's Eve dinner at Mawa's Kitchen and couldn't have asked for a better experience! When making our reservation, we let the manager know we needed an earlier seating to catch the fireworks, and they were incredibly accommodating and made sure everything ran perfectly on time. The food was amazing, the service was impeccable, and my entire family left raving about every dish. Yes, they got a bit backed up during the busy NYE rush, but we honestly didn't mind at all because we had a great time entertaining each other and soaking in the wonderful atmosphere. I do want to mention that we felt sorry for the waitstaff with the way some guests treated them, from what I observed some diners were obnoxious and pretentious, and sorry fellas, we did see you and we did hear you loud and clear. Despite dealing with some difficult customers, the staff remained attentive to us, professional, and really went above and beyond to make our evening special while respecting our timeline. We made it to the fireworks with time to spare and had full, happy bellies! We loved it so much that we came back for brunch on New Year's Day and it was spectacular, those dreamy pancakes were to die for! Mawa's Kitchen delivered a five-star experience in every way, and we will absolutely be back and recommend this gem to anyone visiting Aspen. Thank you for making our NYE celebration memorable!

The food was delicious, but it took a long time. The hash browns on the Farmer’s Wife were pretty delightful. 👍🏼 the quinoa pancakes were good and had an amazing mochi texture. My son said it was a little bit sticky and was hard to eat. Please add soft boiled eggs! I would recommend Farmer’s Wife. Come for brunch for good food - written by my daughter

Mawa’s Kitchen had some strong reviews but for brunch, it misses the mark. The omelet was unfortunately similar to what you get on an airplane, salmon in the bagel tasted strange. The banana bread is the only item on the menu that is above-average, along with the pineapple and ginger drink. It might be a better option for dinner, but certainly not for breakfast or lunch.

Came here to have their breakfast but we missed it. The hot chocolate was served lukewarm and had to send back all 3. Food was okay. Probably breakfast would've been more tasteful.

We usually enjoy Mawa’s, but this morning was horrible the place was freezing and when we ask they turn the air off or turn on heat it got colder, this out the door was open. Maybe you should think about getting an automatic door closure. Lots of folks complained on how cold out was Even worse was, three bites into our food it’s was cold. They noise level was very high, the table in back of us enjoyed their conversation ON SPEAKER! Needless to say the tables around didn’t enjoy it.

The views were amazing. The ambience of the restaurant was quiet and settled. The food was ok. We ordered chicken and waffles, which had a weird after taste. The breading on the chicken was soft and mushy . Causing our waffle to be overly soaked in sauce and breading. Biscuits and gravy was a well balanced of sweet from the biscuit and salty from the gravy. The flavors weren’t packed and gave a mild lift to the taste buds. We enjoyed Aspen along the ride.

This is the second time I’ve been to Mawa’s for brunch and I had high hopes for it being better this time around because there are very few breakfast/ brunch spots on the outskirts of Aspen town. My $25 ahi bahn mi was tasteful, but the fruit it came with was moldy & not fresh making it all worth $15 at best with zero recovery service. The coffee was sour, the restaurant smelled weird & the staff is disconnected. $9.85 for a non refill glass of juice is crazy. There’s so much potential for concept and location, but keeps missing the mark for brunch at least.

Mawa's Kitchen food was average. No wow factor with dishes we tried. We had Waygu Meatballs, Chicken and Waffles, Bourbon French Toast, side of bacon and eggs, mimosa, and pineapple ginger juice. The Waygu meat balls were a 7 out of 10. The meatballs were tender but not very flavorful, the grits were creamy. The chicken and waffle were a 5 out of 10, they were the same as any other place that sells chicken and waffles. The Bourbon French Toast were actually good. The caramelized fruit and the crispy crust on the toast was a nice addition to the dish. We ranked it a 7.5 out of 10. The side or bacon and eggs were a 1 out of 10. The "organic eggs" tasted like eggs out of a carton and the bacon was burnt. The mimosa were a 1 out of 10. They were suppose to be servered with "fresh juice" and champagne. The juice was not fresh squeezed and there wasn't much juice in the mimosa. The pineapple ginger juice were a 8 out 10. The juice was good, but not freshly squeezed as advertised. It tasted like dole pineapple juice and ginger. The ginger added a nice kick to the juice. The service was a 10 out of 10! The staff and servers were tentative and polite. Overall we ranked Mawa's Kitchen a 5.5 out of 10.

We have been in Aspen for 5 days and our food journey has been pure perfection so far and every place we ate was a 10/10. We were saving Mawa’s for the end since it is a Michelin star restaurant. We opted for the brunch and only ordered from the recommended specials and the waitress agreed the specials were “really so good”. Our lattes were perfect so we were off to a good start but then the food arrived. When I tell you it was not good, it was not good… Waffle House food is better. I don’t know if we just caught them on a bad day or something but we also thought maybe only the dinner is Michelin star level.. I don’t know. We were pretty baffled. My wife only ate a few bites of hers and just gave it back to the server. We were so bummed and confused as to why this place is getting such rave reviews. The atmosphere was weird.. it was like a regular “anywhere” in the world sub par decor and the food was cold, not flavorful, and just disappointing. Like I said, maybe only dinner is the legit experience idk.

BEWARE!!! They do not put care when dealing with food allergies. I ordered Vegan huevos rancheros and mentioned that I have an egg allergy. They labeled my food as vegan, noting an allergy on the package and yet it was covered in eggs. Hoping I don’t have a reaction from the bite I took before realizing they were not a vegan alternative and that the only loss will be the money we spent on it. Dangerous and irresponsible.

E

If I could give Mawas 0 stars I would. They have several items labeled gluten free, but everything is cooked on the same flat top. When I asked if they had anything safe for celiacs they said they weren’t sure. Our food took forever to be delivered to our table and we had to asked multiple times for our drinks. I asked them if they had any sauté pans in the kitchen and they said yes and I had to suggest cooking gluten free pancakes in a sauté pan so there was something remotely safe for me to eat since I do not eat eggs. We ordered a kids meal (kids veggie and hummus tray) and were only handed a bowl of raw vegetables. The servers were confused, didn’t ever end up bringing the hummus, and told us repeatedly it was separate. Safety here is non-existent and they are highly uneducated in real gluten free practices. This restaurant should not and can not label any of their menu items as gluten free and need to change their menu to reflect that.

I let this review sit for one week. Put bluntly, I think Mawa’s Kitchen owes a full refund to everyone who experienced the prix fixe New Year’s Eve meal at the ABC location. Let me walk you through the 3 hour experience. Highlights: -our party was seated on time; -there were free granola samples at the front door (which came in handy because the food took forever to arrive) -the plantain bread was delicious -the hilarious comments from patrons close to our table, some begging for their food. Lowlights: -we booked based on the online menu, which had changed upon arrival (wagyu beef and certain wine selections unavailable) -drinks arrived more than 30 minutes after ordered and water not refilled until Mawa came back to the restaurant about 2.5 hours into our experience (likely after catering for a private client) -after more than an hour (!) our first course arrived. The soup was tasty, but there were only about two bites. We were starving (hence the granola) -the braised leeks- what was that? Inedible -the orange sorbet palate cleanser never arrived -the broiled red snapper main course was disappointing. The carrots were cold and my tiny portion of snapper was not acceptable. Maybe two good bites. Starving. More granola. -I watched our server torch the crème brûlée for a very long time and I received all brûlée and almost no crème. -the staff appeared to be bickering and rarely came by to check on customers Please refund your patrons (you required credit card information upon reserving). A gift card won’t do because after that meal, locals won’t want to come back and visitors won’t be able. Such a massive disappointment after having experienced great meals at that location in the past (and your Crepe Therapy coffee in Aspen is my favorite). Still seething. What a disaster.

Horrible experience- this place is a total scam. I come to Aspen multiple times a year and like all the other reviews have stated I truly believe this restaurant/ business to be completely fraudulent. They forced us into coming to their restaurant with a reservation we never had confirmed…. I am a very mediocre chef at best and my cooking is 100 times better than anything I ordered at this restaurant. Food was oversaturated, greasy, and quite frankly absolutely disgusting… will never come back again and will make a point to ensure none of my friends and family come either. Like the other reviews have stated this place should truly be reported to the better business bureau. At the end of the day they have to force people into coming into their business because if they didn’t, the place would be empty (like it was tonight). The food and atmosphere is absolutely terrible. They are super cheap and inhospitable- I will happily pay for service and quality and this place is just a joke. Avoid at all costs and don’t make the same mistake I did!!!
