Holy cannoli, this restaurant is exceptional! If you live in Astoria I really don't know why you would eat anywhere else, I could go here every day. The carbonara, bolognese, and veal marsala are my favorites, but everything we had here has been just outstanding. Family run business with a cute space and great service. Love love love Ornella's.

Came here for date night and it was wonderful. The wine was great, the envelope pasta was soooo good, Caesar salad dressing was delicious, burrata was AMAZING... meatballs were ok probably wouldn't order them next time. But overall amazing! My boyfriend and I will definitely have a few more date nights here.

This place is absolutely fantastic. The food is delicious and the staff is so attentive and nice. Everything I had was delicious, but I highly recommend the chestnut pasta and risotto carbonara. I wish I could give it 6 stars!

Absolutely one of the best Italian spots in the city. My cousin from Astoria took my father,myself, my brother+his gf for a delightful meal. Talked with the owner and his son, very friendly and really care about your experience. Imbustata was to DIE for, gnocchi was awesome and clams were superb, not to mention great wine. Felt at home and thoroughly enjoy this great food in a family atmosphere. So good!!

Our go-to Italian place in Astoria! Everything on the menu is made with care and they have so many incredible options: from unique homemade pastas to incredible chicken sandwiches and all served by their wonderful staff. If you want to enjoy what you’re eating, you have to check out Ornella.

The salami & cheese table is really good and enough for about 4 people. The sweet peppers with the salumi are the best! We ordered risotto di mare, pasta fruto di mare, linguini al pesto, lasagna and cordon bleu. All plates tasted perfect. Super big portions, like really really big. Don’t fill your stomach with bread! The service is excellent and between 3 and 5 the place is really quiet.

Duck meat balls stuffed with ricotta cheese dressed in this sweet sauce and raisins my appetizer. Oooooh lala and truly something new for my taste buds was all I could say. The ambiance very nice. The energy level great. The servers attentive and helpful with menu selections. Stuffed pork chops with pasta one of the popular items was made just right for me. This entree was just as big as the plate. Another satisfying dining experience. Nice music in the background as you enjoy your meal.

My family & I ate here on Fathers day 2018. I had the Penne con Pollo it was good; a hint of sweetness. Over all the food was great from the delicious traditional spagetti & chicken parmasean to top sirloin... Moving on to the star of the show.... the Black Garlic Shrimp Scampi...The black garlic was introduced to us by the owner. He was very attentive through out our dinner. He even allowed us to sample the black garlic which had a fruity flavor once under going a special process the owner explained. He treated us tp his house Limoncello. And for dessert try the Cheesecake its exceptional! If you like home feeling, snug, family oriented little spots... this is your place. And its right in Astoria near Ditmars... you can take a train, bus or come by car. I neverrr leave reviews but this place was really nice.

So good! I went there for the first time last night and had such a nice time. They have so many different types of fresh pasta (many of which are vegetarian!) and everything we had was fantastic. There were many pasta dishes I had never heard of before on the menu which was really exciting. The portion sizes are massive and I write this as I'm happily eating my leftovers for lunch. The staff was really nice and the vibe was great. Highly recommend!!

I went with my friends past Saturday to celebrate my birthday. We needed a table for 15 and it was the only place in the area that gave me a quick answer and accommodated us without issues (most places wanted me to choose a fixed menu or ask my guest to get at least two dishes per person). The service was great, they helped me with everything I asked for. The food was served fast and everyone enjoyed it very much. An amazing place to have a delicious meal and to support the local businesses in Astoria. I can't wait to be back!

My delivery order came pretty quickly considering my distance from them. Everything was great. More importantly, had ordered the chocolate mousse cake for dessert and I'm assuming they didn't have it available tonight, because they gave me a slice of both cheesecake AND pistachio cake. Two slices of cake for the price of one was at even a small loss for them, but also a nice gesture on their part that they didn't have to do (especially during this tough time for restaurants). So wanted to highlight that. Thanks Ornella!

Loved this place! I ordered a Birthday dinner for delivery last night and was very happy. Delivery was on time, about 30 minutes. We had the Parpardelle Bolognese and homemade fusilli with white clam sauce. Finished it off with tiramisu. Portions were generous and very filling, the two of us had enough leftovers for a second meal. The clam sauce was a bit oily but flavor was great. Pasta was homemade and super fresh. Would definitely recommend!

This place was AMAZING! From Pittsburgh here, .the beautiful atmosphere and the food was so so good. The owner came to our table to make sure everything was going well, and that's something you don't see often. Even the owners Son had a great conversation with us at our table. It is a great family atmosphere and when you are there the owners bring you into their family and make you feel so welcomed. JUST GO

Go! This is by far the best Italian place in Astoria. The food is a vacation for your senses. Full of flavors that mix perfectly. The portions feel like my mom's Italian home cooking...serving much more then you could ever finish. The ambiance is great for friends and a romantic night out. Go, you won't be disappointed!

Have been here many times, and for good reason: Food is consistently delicious hearty Italian fare across the menu with portions and good wine selection that you wouldn't get in the city for the price. Attentive, professional service by owner and his sons makes for a warm and personal experience. The perfect smaller place for that night with good friends where you want to catch up, relax and enjoy life.

My family and I loved this place! It is small and intimate but you get to eat some of the most unique REAL ITALIAN dishes you will have a hard time finding anywhere else. The hospitality given by the owner and his sons (can you believe it? He actually has all his sons woking there) is over the top. Not in a Daniels kind of way but in a home style kind of way. Love them!

Food was tasty, portion size was medium. Food took a while. My dad complained about the red wine, but they brought him a new one which he said was better. Ended up being a pretty good place to bring my parents during their visit to astoria.

I've had multiple consistent positive experiences both taking out food and eating in at Ornella Trattoria Italiana. They have kind, patient and attentive staff that provide a high-quality of service on a regular basis. The chiefs also use high-quality ingredients and prepare food with care, fitting eating preferences as well. I would highly recommend eating here and plan to revisit this establishment many more times.

My husband and I usually find our way to Ornella a couple of times a month. We've never had a bad experience here, and the owner and his sons always welcome us like family! The pasta and dinner specials are really wonderful (I tend to go with gnocchi or the stuffed sole, while my husband tries everything!) ... and it still manages to feel a little bit like home! We've also tried the newest addition... pizza! Not only is the taste awesome, but you really can't beat the price. Whether you get delivery or pick-up... pizza from Ornella is the way to go.

Handmade pasta, creative menu, everything from scratch and it shows. I had a black garlic shrimp scampi tonight and I've never hand anything like it; it was absolutely delicious. Some more traditional standouts that I've had are the lobster ravioli in pink sauce, ragu, pesto, and clam sauce.

Muito bom! So, I first tried Ornella's delicious pasta back in June for my sister in law's birthday. We didn't want to leave the house, so I opted to order in. I went off of the Yelp reviews, and man, were we pleased! I can't remember what we ordered, but it was memorable. Fast forward to a week ago, and the sis-in-law and I decide to go to Ornella's to dine in - a fantastic experience. The restaurant was not packed but not empty, either. I liked the layout and the soft lighting. First, we asked for two glasses of wine to get warmed up, and then we ordered three of their pasta dishes, which turned out great because we went in on a $10 any pasta Thursday. We enjoyed all of our three choices, which were the Spaghetti Carbonara, Orecchiette w/Rabe, and the Linguine w/Clams. Each pasta dish was delicious and exquisite in its way. The tiramisu at the end was the icing on the cake. The service was excellent! Sergio was attentive and personable. All over a great experience on a Thursday evening. I highly recommend them, and I can't wait to go back to try other dishes.

Amazing place. Food is so fresh and really prepared with care. Service was great as well. I had the lobster ravioli and it was delicious. Their cold cut appetizers are homemade meats and the taste is great. Also really fair priced! Definitely check out this place .

I haven't been here in a while but I love this place. I've never had anything bad at this place so I was totally excited to get the Linguine al Pesto. As expected it was excellent! Unfortunately, I was so full I couldn't finish it. I can tell the owner really cares about his restaurant. He was very attentive and made sure we were happy.

I just ordered Chicken Parmesan on Grub Hub. The food was so delicious. I loved their sauce, pastaand the portion. I ordered to Laguardia Airport Terminal C. Customer service was phenomenal. The driver who delivered my food was fast and really polite. I would recommend.

No cap, I traveled all the way from the BX just for this bc the pics on their gram looked solid. Did not disappoint. I bought about $70 worth of food all for myself and everything was a hit. No this is a not a paid review I actually did this. Eat here. Family owned all day.

This may be my favorite restaurant in Queens. The homemade pasta is incredible and you get a pretty hefty serving of wine. Everything I ate there was good. Do yourself a favor though, and get the imbustata. I haven't stopped thinking about it, it's so good it haunts my dreams.

They have $10 pasta on Thursdays. I tried Carbonara, but it was too salty. Bacon makes it even saltier so I ended up avoiding all the bacons at the end. That could happen anywhere so I’d like to go back to try something else :)

The gnocchi and the risotto of the sea were both very good. I haven't had good gnocchi in some time, so it hit the spot. The spaghetti is... average. Good quality noodles but I am spoiled by my families sauce and meatballs. This is probably quite good to most people, lol, I'm just biased I think. It is a smaller place, be ready for a wait at dinner times. Food is worth it tho, if you have the time.

Came here to try it for the first time after reading all the reviews. Lovely place with the nicest staff. The manager was very knowledgeable and explained all the different types of dishes. I ordered the bolongese and it was amazing. The sauce was well done and had a great sauce to meat ratio. The vongole was also a great choice.

Went for $10 Thursday pasta night. The portion was pretty tiny as I should have expected, I suppose. The food was really good and the pasta tasted so fresh. But if you want anything other than pasta, be prepared to give and arm and a leg. Trying to make my monthly rent in Astoria is not conducive to dropping $25 on eggplant Parm. Additionally, the place isn't in the best shape. The tables are literally falling apart. But perhaps that adds to the authenticity of a quaint little establishment.

Don’t know what the hype was about probably a bunch of newbies to the area that never had good quality Italian food. DuckMeatball no flavor packed with either bread or breadcrumbs, amatriciana salty the bread was cold, the cocktail tasted cheap. Service was good.

this is the second time I have a problem with the retaaurant. the first time I waited an hour and a half for my food and the guy who answered the phone was super rude! Today I made an order. I ordered gluten-free ravioli, they sent me regular penne. They didn't bother calling me and asking. I called and the same guy answered me and told me he sent me penne because they don't have gluten free ravioli. Who is he to decide what I want to eat? Said I picked something they don't have. Well, if I chose it, it was because it's on the menu. (I placed the order on the restaurant's website) in short, the service is terrible!! I still don't know how this person still works at the restaurant.

Before you commit check out yelp and some owner's responses to the poor reviews. While not always fair and people's tendency to be unnecessarily negative there's no excuse for the owners negative and sometimes rude retorts to their genuine feedback. We are not all perfect all the time and can always learn something regardless how authentic and professional we claim to be. That doesn't give the owner the right to belittle patrons. When I ate here the restroom was wallpapered with negative reviews and the owners belittling responses. The food was fine but the level of discomfort is so extreme I can't justify eating here again.

We ordered the grilled calamari appetizer, the risotto con caciocavallo and nduja, and lobster Mac and cheese. The calamari was delicious but should really be categorized as a salad. It came on a large bed of spinach with tomatoes and maybe 6 or 7 pieces of calamari. Delicious, but calling it a calamari appetizer instead of a salad with calamari is misleading. The risotto was flavorful but absolutely loaded with oil. At the bottom of the takeout tray there was easily a quarter inch of red oil and each bite was dripping with oil back into the tray. The lobster Mac and cheese was the biggest disappointment. While it tasted ok, there wasn’t one piece of lobster in it. What was in it was the imitation crab meat you buy at Costco for $5 a pound. I didn’t expect a whole lobster to be in the Mac and cheese but for $21 it shouldn’t be all imitation crab meat. Even having half of a claw with no other meat would have been better than what was given. Overall, this was a huge disappointment. The food didn’t taste half bad but the quality was lacking especially given the prices they charge.

I don’t know usually leave a bad review I feel bad for the business but this is a public health problem .We orders for delivery the food was old they heated up by microwave not fresh at all we had One bite each my son throw up me and my wife Got a stomach ache we throw away 2 order of pasta one order of chicken Caesarsalad and two orders of dessert went right to the garbage what a waste of time and money thank god we didn’t get very sick. Don’t recommend this place at all NOTHING FRESH

Me and my friend both ordered Devour Mutz. On their insta advertisement there should be 3 mozzarella sticks in the sandwich. However, what came in our sandwiches were a couple of tiny lukewarm cheese curds. AND WE WERE FINE WITH THAT. After the meal, I wanted to point out to the older server that the actual sandwich is different from its advertisement. However, the older server started to raise his voice and yelled at me “you said you’re fine with that” for countless times. It’s not like me and my friend wanted our money back. We were polite and we did acknowledged that we did said we were good with it. We just felt scammed because the actual food was different. It’s a bit disheartening when we were being polite and just wanted to point out the difference while the server refused to listen and kept interrupting and yelling at us. The food was ok, I rate it 1 star because of the disappointing interaction with the server. I hope he can see this comment because FEEDBACKS FROM THE CUSTOMERS ARE IMPORTANT, no matter their race/age/status. *Shout out to the younger guy at the checkout who understands to listen.*

The manager/ head waiter was too busy drinking wine and talking with these 3 women at a table and my salad took 20minutes at 9pm. He slammed the cheese on my table. When I asked him for fresh ground pepper, the grinder was empty instead of filling it, he told me to use the pepper on the table and went back to drinking his wine. When the owner is there you'll be sure to get great service. The food is excellent. Order out if the owner is not there.

This establishment doesn’t deserve 5 stars when their service isn’t consistent. Your food being decent doesn’t earn 5 stars, the entire experience does. We understand the constraints the pandemic has had on businesses, however there was only 3 other tables with customers and they were all checked in with more than once before we were even asked for our order. Customer reviews are important so I urge you all to go through lower reviews. There’s a plethora of problems, from bad service to poor food safety (there’s even been reviews where patrons have been served regular pasta when asking for gluten-free. Are you not aware of what it means to have celiac??). The owners attitude is disgusting and every response I’ve seen him give to a review is negatively charged. He went as far as calling people who review on Yelp “imbeciles”. Take this as you please but I will not be returning to this establishment or referring people here any longer.

I love good, fresh Italian food but sadly the food they offer is neither. Small portions and too high prices for what taste like food from a freezer that I could make at home. They put no care into the food they serve, and service and management is beyond bad. There are some amazing Italian restaurants in Astoria, this is not one of them.

Came around 10.15 and even though it closed at 11 we were getting rushed by the waiter and eye balled by some fat dude with a terrible dress sense and even worse shoes, who I assume was the owner. We were asked to order really quickly because the restaurant was closing in 45 minutes. Food came out quick but my carbonara was terrible, it was all butter and minimal cream. The bacon wasn’t great either, very rubbery.
