I LOVE this spot! The food is delicious and on point! We’ve had their burgers, chicken sandwiches but my fave is the Tiger fries and I always add two tendies. So much flavor and juiciness. You won’t regret supporting this vendor!
The best burger and chicken sandwich in ATX! Ask for the popcorn chicken-you won’t regret it. The queso fries are decadent. Just order everything on the menu and be fat and happy!!
My wife and our two friends all got the Rodeo Burger. It’s excellent. The patties are full of flavor, the bacon has a hint of sweetness, and I strongly recommend adding a fried egg. The peppers and barbecue sauce are really good (according to my friend). The fries are nothing special but they serve their purpose well. Highly recommend!
I ordered the burger and my date had the Thai Chicken Sandwich. The peppers as a garnish should have been a warning as to what was to come. I only got 1 bite of my burger which I thought was good. She had one bite of the Thai Chicken and exclaimed it was the tastiest chicken she’s ever tasted. But on her second and third bite is when the heat set in. I noticed tears in her eyes as she asked me to find some water. She started sweating and describing how that was the hottest thing she’s ever eaten. She said she couldn’t finish it so I traded my burger unwillingly. I don’t think she could taste the burger as her taste buds were singed from the Thai chicken spice of death but she finished it in an effort to relieve the pain. Interestingly enough I was able to finish the sandwich without too much trouble. She kept accusing me of just trying to be a tough guy and not admitting I was dying, but it was tolerable. Now the little side peppers are what gave me trouble. We did notice the Austin fire department was on the scene, so maybe they get calls about that Thai chicken sandwich often...
This is a hidden gym with delicious food and good sized servings. I recommend this place as a must to visit in Austin. It is located in the bar Whisler, and it looks like a yellow food truck. Don't let that throw you off. The food is banging. I recommend the Thai Chicken Sandwich, which is a chicken breast fried, cover in sweet Thai chili sauce. You can get the sandwich alone, or order side items like a fried egg and fries. You can order to go or stay where you can sit in the patio area of Whisler. Cool thing is you can walk away and go get drinks or chat it up as they text you when your order is ready. They don't serve drinks, but that's what the bar is for. I ate there twice and they have a nice variety of food to choose from. Again, must stop if you coming from out of town and a great date spot for locals.
They make the best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had. I'm visiting from Oregon and I'm certain there isn't a better one from there to here. Prices are great and the peppers they give you on the side are so delicious and spicy!
Amazing food from even better people. I have been a big fan of their burgers, chicken and tiger fries for a while. The people working this truck are great folks who care and it shows in the food. The worst part is deciding what to get. For vegans, check on the off menu tofu fries. Got it for a date, only tofu I have enjoyed. One of my favorite parts of the neighborhood is this spot.
I have been to Golden Tiger 10 times… it literally gets better with every bite. The people that work their are amazing. Super friendly…I can tell the burger is made with love and they take pride in their craft. Also the chicken sandwich is fire. In the back of an awesome bar as well. If someone can find me a better burger in AUstin I will pay you $500
The bar, the burgers. Imagine any situation where you would need the top 10 burgers you've ever had.... first date, food tour of Austin, out with coworkers, out with the buds. the burger is magical, the atmosphere unforgettable, really if I wasn't visiting this would be my everyday hangout..
The Western Burger is an absolutely mouth watering double smash burger that inspires an artistic appreciation for its composition. The tofu sandwich is rich, full flavored and perfectly textured with a zesty sauce and a delightful mix of flavors that fulfills all yearning for flavor. An absolute must stop food truck in town.
Obsessed with their chicken sandwich, fries, and special sauce. Literally dream about it
GoldenCastle Sliders are the real MVP! Downside- no seating but worth eating in your car. I didn’t expect such big portions so we bought 12, one box is good if you get sides, haha. The sliders are perfect for a late lunch or early dinner, beer worthy. Normally on sliders you get a thin piece of meat but these old school gems are loaded with onion, pickle, cheese, and a thick slice of meat. Definitely returning and definitely getting a cold beer to go with it! Enjoy!
I’ve travelled to many a depth and crevice in this country looking for a good fried chicken sandwich - I’ve been fortunate to have had a fair few delectable ones, but I can easily say this is the best one I’ve ever had. *he writes after eating two and waiting for his third one* The fact that a most delightful craft cocktail bar is part of the same establishment only serves to make it better.
Cook was awesome and food was quick! The GF wings were DELICIOUS! Service was fantastic and the vibes were awesome! Will definitely be going back and would recommend, 1000/1000 👏👍
The burger was phenomenal. Gooey, cheesy, greasy, delicious. The fries were a tad cold, but I literally didn't care because they were cooked well and had the perfect amount of salt (and a good sized portion). Will be back to try the chicken sandwiches!
Attached to a bar which is loud, lots of seating outside, nice people, and great food. It is on the spicy side so beware those that can't handle it. The Thai chicken sandwich was great but my friend said the regular was bland. My other friend loved the fries. Definitely gonna try again
Wow! I've eaten here twice now and I am clearly destined to become a regular. The Thai chicken sandwich was SO DELICIOUS! Such a perfect blend of spicy and sweet. The second time I had the smash burger... Whoa!!! I seriously think I might have just eaten the BEST BURGER IN AUSTIN!! Top notch quality beef, nicely seasoned, piled with fresh ingredients, and killer special sauce! Super friendly staff, including co-owner, Mason, who was very welcoming and personable. Also, atmosphere was really nice on the Whisler's patio. My new favorite food trailer in Austin!
UPDATE: I dm’ed them and they added a no blue cheese button for me on uber eats and they are so sweet and so cute for that ❤️ This is my favorite place to get a burger and the best one I’ve had so far in austin! It is a bit pricey but it’s absolutely worth it in my opinion, I also love that it’s at whislers! However, and this is just my preference, the blue cheese on the fried chicken sandwich absolutely destroys the flavor, it would be SO incredible without the blue cheese, I couldn’t even finish the sandwich I ordered because of how gross the blue cheese is, it taste like nail polish remover, other than that the flavors on every burger/sandwich are phenomenal! I tell everyone and their mothers to come here because it’s truly exceptional.
Sneaky some of the best burgers and chicken sandwiches we've had in the city. A great spot to get food while you're drinking at whislers, everything is tasty, large, and reasonably priced. Highly recommend on a night out and especially to go out of your way to visit!
Hard to handle those serranos (they are spicy) so I ended up picking them off of my burgers and fries. The burger had some of the best burger meat I've had in a long time. Really, really good smash burger. The fries were also delicious. Had trouble finding parking nearby but the food only took 10-15 minutes to prepare.
East Austin is in my opinion home to many Mount Rushmore establishments in their given food genre. This is one of those magical establishments. Never in my life have I visited a place more than golden tiger. I’ve eaten it well over 200 times at this point. It somehow doesn’t get old. Not even in the slightest. How on earth is that possible? The crunchy shredded lettuce, the perfectly charred patties, the buttered and slightly toasted buns, the sauce… the sauce. I’m having NSFW thoughts just reminiscing about that sauce. The first time I tried golden tiger it was so good, that I immediately ordered a second burger. After finishing the second one I just sat at my table alone for a bit. It was like I just witnessed the moon landing or the curing of some disease. It was a beautiful feeling. Shocked and amazed, I made my way to the food truck to confirm whether or not Jesus Christ himself was behind these miracles. It wasn’t. It was even better. Food truck co-owner Mason Arline was behind the window, along with his crew. I knocked on the window, introduced myself and said “your burgers are so good, that I’d literally quit my job and cook here”. Mason and I have been friends ever since. Golden Tiger is an institution. It’s the gold standard for not just great burgers, but street food as a whole. Didn’t think you could get aroused from a burger? Think again.
Best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had, keep trying to top it and it’s just not possible. Then let’s talk about the queso and fries… amazing. Would want Golden Tiger as my last meal.
Best Hand Crafted Burgers in Austin Hands Down!!! Two words: Golden Burger!!! BOMB AF!!!!!! Also, Cub Burgers are ridic!!! All dressings made in house, ranch just stupid good, Fries are also killer!!!
In my opinion this burger deserves the hype, it’s simple but man it’s good. It’s a food truck tucked into an ok bar, but if return any day for the good burger.
I consider myself a chicken finger aficionado, and these were the best chicken fingers I have ever had in my entire life. The queso fries were excellent as well.

I ordered 2 chicken strips for $7 and it filled me up and was so delicious! By ordering the strips separately i got 2 different dipping sauces too. I'll definitely be back very soon!! I even brought my dog in to Whisler.
Honestly, this was one of the best burgers I have ever had. “Golden burger” for $12 did not disappoint. Service was super fast and the place is right inside whisler’s bar!
I rarely write reviews, but the bacon Smashburger I ordered for takeout from this gem near my hotel deserves every bit of praise. This burger is nothing short of a masterpiece—10/10 perfection. The patties are well-seasoned, delivering great flavor in each bite. The cheese is melty, and the toppings are an ideal balance, never overwhelming the star of the show, but adding to the flavor. Their secret sauce ties it all together. This is quite possibly the burger I’ve ever stumbled upon.
⭐ Highly Recommended! Golden Tiger is hands down an amazing food truck. I ordered the Golden Burger (double smash cheeseburger) and it was incredible — perfectly smashed patties, melty cheese, and their special sauce is next-level. Everything tasted fresh and cooked just right. What really made the experience special was meeting the owner, Mason. He was super friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what he does. He even took the time to give me a tour of the building they partner with, which was such a cool and unexpected experience. You can tell he truly cares about the quality of the food and the people he serves. Great food, great vibes, and an awesome owner. If you see Golden Tiger, don’t miss it — this place is a gem
Hard to believe that a simple food truck could give me one of the best burgers i had while I was in the us. But this truck managed it. Good flavour. Nice buns.

They did not open, was told they would postpone the opening to 4:15, but when the time came they told us it'll take them a while. Went to another food truck nearby that was open. Edit: Cashier lady (Aug 19, 2023 saturday) was very nice! I went here with another set of friends, and got a variety of things. For most of the burgers, I heard mixed reviews, and as for the chicken, it was overcooked (inside of the chicken were very dry). I personally thought the thai chicken sandwich was good, but it could've been a lot better.
Came here because a friend said that Mikey Chen came here and reviewed the food well. The wait was insane. On a Thursday evening, they said the food would take 40 minutes. But it actually took an hour and 20 minutes. The wait was painful because we were so ready to eat. Getting the food made the wait we just endured less painful. Because it was great! The Thai chicken sandwich was the star of the show. So many great flavors and a really nice glaze. Maybe the best chicken sandwhich I've had in a while! I didn't like the fries very much. It was a basic fried potato without much flavor. They should either make a really great sauce or season the fries with something so that it's on par with the burger. I also tried the cheese burger. It was very cheesy so I didn't like it as much. Others at my table thought the cheese burger was better than the chicken sandwhich though. It's located in a very cute patio bar. The vibe is definitely there! It must be beautiful in the evenings because you get to watch the sun go down.
The Golden Burger with cheese + egg is one of my favorites in Austin. I'm very critical when it comes to burgers and this ranks up there. Tried the Thai Chicken Sandwich for the first time and was not disappointed. Juicy, crispy and nice spicy kick to it (not crazy spicy). The chicken tenders was disappointing. Had them before and it was great, but this time it was dry AF. Couldn't finish 1 tender. Was really really disappointed. Go for the burger and chicken sandwich
Fantastic burger and fried chicken! 4 stars only because the fries were dry and tasteless. Maybe even old? Can't wait to come back and try the other stuff! I just had the "regular" burger.
Just a heads up when you’re checking out online they charge an automatic 20% tip unless you happen to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page to cancel it. And for pickup seems a bit silly.
Golden Tiger appears on many Austin best of lists, so I had to check it out. It’s a food truck that’s intertwined with an outdoor patio and bar that pits out a cool and relaxing vibe. There was nice music and misters that enhances that vibe. Overall, the golden burger and fries were awesome. The chicken sandos and nuggets need seasoning, but the dipping sauce was pretty good. Prices are a little on the high side, but what isn’t nowadays. It is for the 21+ crowd after dark.
Rating: 3.5/5 [delivery] | 3.8/5 [dine in] Golden Burger ($14): Double smash patties, special sauce, American cheese, shredded lettuce, pickles, and red onion. Absolute fire! One of the best burgers I've had in a while--juicy, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. Would 100% come back for this when the cravings hit! Chicken Tenders Basket ($15): Three chicken tenders with fries and two dipping sauces. Unfortunately, the tenders were dry and lacked flavor -- even the sauces couldn't save them. I tried reheating them in the air fryer the next day, which helped a little, but I still wouldn't order them again. The fries were even worse, even after air frying them, and paled in comparison to fast-food fries. - BBQ Vegan Sauce: Not a fan. It had an overpowering flavor with a sharp, citrusy bite that didn't sit well on my palate. - Special Sauce: A must-try! Creamy, flavorful, and pairs well with just about anything. Thai Chicken Sandwich ($12) + Bacon ($2): Fried chicken thigh, sweet chili sauce, shredded lettuce, Thai basil, pickled Serranos, and red onion. The chicken was dry (though slightly better than the tenders) and didn't pair well with the bacon. The pickled Serranos added a nice spicy kick, but the sweet chili sauce--served on the side--tasted like a generic store-bought version and didn't really do much for the sandwich. This sandwich lacked cohesion, especially compared to the Golden Burger. I'm surprised it's popular and wouldn't recommend it. We were at Whisler’s and discovered that the Golden Tiger truck was parked on their outdoor patio. They offered their version of a Happy Meal, available only on Wednesdays from 4–7 PM. I got the Cub Burger for $2.99 and shared it with my husband. It was ready immediately after I paid, which was impressive. The burger is simple—just cheese and pickles—but it tastes so much better than McDonald’s, especially for the price. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area during that time.
Pretty good burger. It has a lot of hype, do I was expecting phenomenal. It wasn't that good, but it was still good. They charged more than their sign says right in front of them. $16 for the Golden Burger instead of $12. You can get a side fry with a burger for $4, so that kinda makes up for it. This is located in the patio of Whisler, which has great cocktails. Their special sauce has a nice kick to it. It goes wonderfully on their burger and their fries.

Was looking for a smash burger and found Golden Tiger on social media posts. Considering the hype, it didn’t meet my expectations fully but was still a good, solid burger. The fries were to perfection- crispy and hot- plus their sauce was a good combo.
Golden Tiger offers a fantastic dining experience with a menu full of flavorful dishes, making it a favorite among locals. With a 4.4 rating, this restaurant provides a blend of Asian-inspired dishes, from delicious stir-fries to savory rice bowls, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The service is friendly and attentive, and the cozy atmosphere makes it a great spot for casual dining or a relaxed evening out. The price range of $10–20 per person makes it an affordable yet satisfying option for anyone craving tasty and hearty meals. Golden Tiger delivers on both flavor and atmosphere.

i got the OG chicken sandwich. Was a good portion but not very tasty. The special sauce is a lot like Canes. The fries were really good! The GPS didn't understand it was inside of Whistlers so we wander around for quite awhile looking for it.
Confused by the great reviews. Vibe is cool. Food is fine but nothing special. The queso fries taste like they dumped a can of Rotel and microwaved Velveeta on top. Disappointing for $14
The food wasn’t bad- it was just alright. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich, buffalo and ranch served on the side. To me, that’s just a normal chicken sandwich. The fries were so-so as well.

Brilliant burger but huge grievance with bill. Charged $22 which included tip. Left Austin to have $22 cancelled then to be charged over $26 dollars later. Basically they have cart blanch to charge whatever they want as a tip after the sale once you’ve left Austin. I’d like my $4 back please.

I visited once. I noticed my bill was high. When I asked about it they said the automatically charge 25% tip. I was like "what"? They think they are entitled to a tip for handing you food out of a window. Unbelievable! I never went back.
