The Ballinger Sonic is a good one friendly people fast service and they get your order right also when you leave you can throw your trash away in the drive up trash can all Sonics have these but most of the time they are stuffed full the Ballinger bunch keeps theirs emptied good job oh yeah the food is good and it's hot

Was very good and the service was excellent. We didn't have to wait long for our food, which was nice.

Pretty good food and usually great service and friendly servers. Every now and again they surprise us with more than expected expectations. One such ice cream trip my husband and I brought our dog with us and the wonderful server asked if she could have some ice cream and, with our okay, the server gave our Shepherd a little cup of ice cream all her own! 😄 Needless to say, our Shepherd loved her cup of ice cream and we'll definitely be back again.

For a drive in, it is very fast. It is right by Walmart. Chili dog is perfect for this weather when you're lacking time.

I had a problem with a order the night before. Spoke to the evening manager the next day his name was Dustin. Dustin personally made my order correct all himself. I think this is a step above all of the experiences that I have had a sonic. Thank you to the manager Dustin. You've made my experience great.

Food is always hot & fresh !! The car hops are always very friendly & helpful. The menu has so many items to choose from. And you can't forget their Happy Hr. !! All drinks half price from 2-4 !! Just a great place !!

Came through the drive-thru, and it was quick and easy! My Smash Burger was made just like I wanted it with lots of grilled onion. It was fresh and hot as it should be. My Rt. 44 Ocean Water was also good, not too much ice either.

Hands down the best totchos I've ever had at a Sonic. I've been eating this item at various locations across Texas and Arkansas and they are all disappointing compared to this one. This one had the perfect amount of filler, the perfect amount of sauce, the perfect amount of tots, and was just all-around delicious. The staff was also extremely nice and the food was quick. I've come back since to confirm that they will make it the same way again and they did. Definitely recommend.

Was out for a ride and stopped there for something cold to drink.

They are usually really nice, but there are a few employees that can ruin it for the rest.

It took them 15 minutes to make a philly cheese steak, but when I asked for the 2 straws they neglected to give me with the drinks, I was given two small fries for free! Worth the wait!

Normally a 5 star location, but lately the they've been super frugal with anything added to items at an extra cost. Examples include cheese added to fries or chili added to burgers. Also they must have a policy that requires employees to only give one napkin per meal unless you ask for extras.

Quick and friendly! Check your order. They will fix it if you address it but they get it wrong frequently.

I am giving this place a 4 star since ive been coming here for about 9 years now, not daily, but here and there. Normally I have a really good experience here and never complain. I get decent food thats hot, fresh, and quick to come out which is especially important since I drive over a hour and half to work daily. This morning however when I ordered my food what I received was less than acceptable. The bacon egg and cheese supersonic I ordered was literally 75% tortila and 25% everything else while on top of that issue the burrito was hard and toasted for some reason. Like I said normally I do not have an issue with this location and I wanted to write this up since I did not get a chance to call and let them know.

One of the best Sonics my family and I have been to in a very long time! Did was fresh, fast and the order was 100% correct. Did was absolutely delicious. The Sonics in Abilene and Merkel could take a few tips from this Sonic.

Well, it said I’ve been there three times in the past couple weeks and the first time I ordered a jalapeño cheeseburger with the meal and I got the chocolate strawberry shake with mozzarella sticks and french fries and ordered marinara sauce which I did not receive. I let that go. Second time I went there I ordered I believe it was a number two and then the strawberry chocolate shake was not correct and then the third time I order there believe it was a number three and gave us a number two and still messed up the order and so I don’t believe I’ll go back there. I’ll just find some other place to go because seems like every time I go there they want to mess up my order and when they repeat it back to me and tell me it’s not the correct order.

This place can be a hit or miss; I’ve gotten food from here loads of times, during which could be as good as a sonic can be. Then other times when I get an order whether it’s big or small, they can repeat it back to you, and still get it wrong. Which kinda sucks because three meals can be up to $30 bucks, and it can be a waste of money especially if you’re on a hurry. I’ve been here with friends before, and on several occasions they’ve forgotten items but still charged us for them. One time they forgot our drinks, other times it’s side food items. It’s even worse when they’re not busy at all. My father had a situation where we ordered cheese fries with our meal, and we had to talk to three separate people about it. Which was completely unnecessary especially considering one of the girls took the receipt, and they weren’t even busy. We had to wait 15-20 minutes for a side item, had to call them about three times, and by the time we were finished. My friend had already finished her burger, and her drink.

I was just there literally a second ago, I ordered got the food, noticed a few things wrong, the woman who I told this too I’m not sure if she’s just having. A bad day or what, but she wasn’t happy on fixing our drinks asked for fries and she got an attitude, slammed my change on our table where we were sitting. Like friendly as all get out. Want my business? Maybe friendly service needs to be in place. But there was one lady who wasn’t even our car hop who was simply amazing! Great attitude, smile on her face, wanted to make sure everything was correct. Who helped us. That’s why you even got any stars at all. Thanks Sonic.

My children's chicken tenders were cooked well, and fries were cold. My cheese burger was cold & soggy. I only ate half of it because it actually cooked medium. Unappetizing.

They shut off online orders hours before closing, around 7pm. I wasn't able to get half priced drinks through the app because of that. It was pretty frustrating because I was trying to buy several drinks for my family that was visiting. And a lot of the sonic deals and coupons are only available through the app.

They are a hit and miss on the workers attitudes. Some are nice and some are really upset sounding. Also they run out of items on the menu alot more than some restaurants in this area. Including the fact I know some items are hard to get right now. This may or may not be the issue. Not sure . I have had them be really accommodating at times and other times really abrupt sounding. We are all human I know. So this is my review. I will keep going back though.

Average sonic experience. The restaurant was very dirty, especially the bathrooms. If you use the womens make sure you have your phone nearby because the door doesn't want to open. The motzerella sticks tasted like fish blah.

Rushed through ordering . didn't let us finish ordering before cut off speaker. Carhop was not friendly.

I ordered a family order of onion rings which comes in a box. My mom and I had ordered mutiple times before always full. The next time I ordered them there was about 10 in the whole box so I complained and got a free order and still the same thing. So I was completely unsatisfied.

Took 40 minutes to get my order. They messed it up quite a bit. You should choose another "fast food" place. The chicken was stale and the ranch was nasty.

I like sonic but the wait time is ridiculous. 30min for gravy. Or 30min for a milk shake. 1 or 2 cars...there used to be a 5min mac window when I worked there....must be out the window for the last 5 yrs or so

They are listed on website not to close til 11 on Sat but we got there at 10:20 and got turned away... this is my 3rd bad experience with Ballinger sonic. First was ice cream machine broke & same day the girl on microphone was rude yelling at me.

I don't usually write bad reviews but we've been to this Sonic 3 times. The first time we had to pull into 3 different stalls until we found one with a working microphone. Then we couldn't get the woman to answer. Then the food came out lukewarm at best. Each time we've gone, we've had to wait an inordinate amount of time for the simplest of orders. 14 minutes for a Sonic Blast? Really? The employees are nice and courteous but the service is lacking and the food quality is not up to par with other Sonic restaurants we've visited.

Sadly it's gotten to the point that almost every burger tastes like preservatives. I'm just going to pass on ALL Sonics and search for mom and pop places where the food is actually fresh.

Pros: The food was fine (but other Sonic's that I've been to are better). We had a relatively large order (family of 7) and they got everything correct but only gave us one cheese dip for the three pretzels we ordered which I thought was weird. The lady who brought the order to our car seemed friendly and had a nice smile. Cons: From the moment I pulled in, the girl taking my order seemed annoyed. She was very impatient, short, and rude. She said she couldn't hear or understand me a couple times (in a very snotty way) but it didn't seem consistent with a bad microphone or whatever. Four of my kids got the kid meal that comes with a toy and they each got something different, but three of them got a figurine type toy while one got a packet of magnets so she was disappointed. I went in to see if they could exchange it for something more similar to what my other children received and the employee basically told me too bad, so sad, you get what you get. I understand if you have a policy or something where you can't take anything back but the way it was explained was so unnecessarily rude. They showed chicken wraps on the menu screen but they said they didn't have those any more. NBD just annoying and I was informed in a very snippy, unapologetic way. They don't offer a military discount (every other Sonic I've been to does). I don't feel entitled to one but thought y'all would want to know. The bathroom was disgusting.

I was traveling thru Ballinger, TX. I wanted the 99 corn dogs. I tried my app, but it never worked. After about 10 min. I decided to order and let the staff know my online was not working. They gave me the 99 cent special, but the corn dogs were colder plus had no mustard packets. After requesting mustard the back with a small container with mustard. I got my food right away but cold. Never again.

We had dinner at the Sonic in Ballinger and were very disappointed. Sure hope this was a off day. My wife ordered the chili cheese tots and a small cheesecake shake. The chili was really just a sauce of some sort. She received a strawberry cheesecake shake which they did correct. I ordered the cheeseburger with tots. It wasn't up to Sonic standard. The meat patty didn't have any flavor not even seasoning. The tots were really the only thing worth buying. The order was brought out quickly and all in all the service was great. I sure hope this isn't becoming the norm with cutbacks ongoing. The worst part was having the expectations we normally get at Sonic. Can deal with higher prices for quality but wouldn't have this even if it was free.

The staff was friendly and our food came in a timely manner, however its the worst cheeseburger I have ever had at any Sonic or anywhere else for that matter. The patty must have been leftover from the night before dry and hard and the cheese was not even melted. Tator tots also dry and hard. We spent 30 bucks and the only thing edible were the onion rings. The drinks were spot on.

The sonic in Ballinger Texas had the worst food I have ever had. A bacon cheeseburger was too dry and old to have been cooked this week.

We ordered drinks, they got one of them wrong, so we told them. They never came back with the correct drink. I took my "wrong" drink inside & told them & they acted insulted,remade my drink "wrong"again. I gave up.

How do you run out of icecream...or is it you already started cleaning the machine and didn't want to have to clean it again. Cause it crazy how anytime I come after 9 ya'll have ran out!

Didn't order food but the drink I ordered was awful. the nasty city water made it taste so bad. I ordered drinks from other Sonic's and they were never this awful.

I got a hot dog from there the other day and all they brought me out was a hot dog on a bun. I asked him that don't look like the picture what else comes on it? he came back out and said nothing that's what you get.

After taking 45min for our food to come to us when there was no one else there the good was cold and horrible. Me and my wife took one bite and threw it out. Absolutely disgusting food.

Waiting for 20 minutes on food at Sonic is a little crazy. If you’re even semi in a hurry do not stop here. Any other town sonic is usually getting your food to you in 5 to 7 minutes. Not in Ballinger, TX. Then they brought us cold food. When I told the girl the food was cold she gave me attitude. It’s not hard. No one wants to go pay money for old cold food.

I asked for no lime peel (rind) in my drink. The carhop noticed they left the rind in the drink so she went back inside, reached in with her fingers, and pulled the rind out. The hand that she's been handling money with her entire shift.

Only sonic I've ever gone to that stops serving blast and shakes after 7 pm. We have been there many times over the past 6 months and told that if we wanted ice cream products we have to come back tomorrow. Don't understand how this is possible

Absolutely gross. The place is filthy the employees are horrible. The food is not edible. And Sonic replying here to call them they don't do anything they might send you a drink. Why waste my time calling corporate when corporate doesn't give a rat's behind about any of the Sonic locations anymore? Why aren't you just rub some salt in the wound.

Every single time I make an order there is always an item missing or several items...this time my husband didn't think to check the bags drive 17 miles home and realise that several items are missing..so the kids get 1/2 a meal instead of a whole meal that we paid for..yes I called and talked to the manager and yes I called the owner Henry...if the employees would watch what they are doing they wouldn't keep making the same mistakes over and over again!! This gets very aggravating

We tried using 2 different stalls, hit that button a total of 5 times... nobody answered. Its Saturday at 11am, there was one other customer on the lot, and nobody could be bothered to even take our order. The cook was on her cell phone, the car hop staring our the front door watching traffic and the order of the 4 adults in my car would have covered their wages for half their shift! EPIC FAIL!! We won't be back

They pre cook there meat and it's always dried out and nasty. Today I asked them for a freshly cooked patty and they said they would. I get home and the meat was burnt and dried out. Absolutely the worst burger I have ever had. 2 bites and in the trash. Save ur money and go somewhere els

Why does it show that Sonic opens at 0530 if it doesn’t open at that time? Is it really that hard to change the times on the app and on the internet? I went by there at 0615 and it was not open.

Says they close at 11 pm got there at 9:49 tried to order no one would talk to us we were ignored as they started turning the lights off no one would even speak to us we even went to the drive through window and was still ignored

The food is horrible here! The Tator tots taste like their filled with dirty cooking oil, hamburgers are dry and taste days old and their breakfast burritos and croissants are not edible! I normally live Sonics food, but this sonic is absolutely horrible!

Not good. Got the chicken slinger and it was not as pictured. In the pic it looked like a full size sandwich but the one I got was kids meal sized, was not put together right, missing correct sauce, etc. We had to go back twice because they shorted us on napkins and no ketchup. Fries were not quite crispy on the outside and mushy on the inside and I don't think they were salted at all. Wife's #1 burger had no flavor. -------------------------- To "the owner" that responded... I'm really confused by your message. I put my review against the franchise that I had the issue with and I detailed the issues I experienced. Why do you need me to call some number and report what I've already reported? If you actually work for Sonic, as I'm assuming you do, why isn't there some process already in place to move reviews like mine into the official channels so that they "hold the drive-in accountable"? Shouldn't that be YOUR job? If you all cared about quality at all, you'd have taken care of the next steps already.

Worst sonic ever been to. The car hop did read back the order just quickly handed and darted away. Didn't get condiments we asked for when ordered, waved them down and was told pay for them. The two burgers were sloppy flopping sideways. One had the wrong condiments.

Today December 9th 2025 ordered chili cheese dog and a cheeseburgerJust before 6:00 p.m. . Drove off at 6:30 with no food and didn't even see anyone coming out with food or drinks, horrible! No excuse at all for this kind of service if it's going to take a while or anything they could have at least said something instead of just leaving us sitting there waiting

Why were the corndogs 99 cent and not 50 cent? Ate there today 8-29 can safely say it was the worst meal I ever got there. The bacon was cold and half of what was on the burger was not chew able the burger had no flavor and the tots were smashed. I should've taken pictures of that garbage. It'll be months or years before I eat there again.

Met my daughter from san antonio in Ballinger to pickup grandbabies and got rhem some sonic for the trip back home.Noah was a great carhop, excellent customer service food was good. Went back to meet to send them home and ate there again and the food was not so good, popcorn chicken seemed a day old, service was good but the food wasn't fresh. For the price of food these days, it should be fresh.

Had to repeat my order 4 times, lady was apologetic so that was fine, came out gave me my order and it was wrong, didn’t put cream in my drink, asked for a drink carrier 4 different times and I had to ask again when my drinks were brought out. I understand if they were short staffed but this isn’t the first time, I think the people they hire are to young and don’t understand what is expected of how to make sure your order is right and accounted for.

Absolutely horrible! They always get my orders wrong every time I go there. There was an intentional cut under my cup and my whole drink spilled everywhere. The service is not that bad although it can use some work. And the food as well can use some work because my food was burnt.

Ordered 2 drinks, Coke with Cherry and Vanilla Cream was all Cherry, no vanilla cream. Cranberry Slush had so little Cranberry even after I stirred it up, it was still flavorless, ended up throwing it out after only one sip. Update: since I noticed my review as well as everyone that followed got the same computer generated response, I tried to actually follow-up. Bitly says error bad link, and Avast warns it has possible viruses. I hate this for Ballinger as they are a small town and could probably use the revenue from this restaurant if the owner cared enough to try and provide good service. I am from out of town and only go there about 2x a month. But, I will not be returning to Sonic.
