Friendly service and food is outstanding! A little gem for this area of town
Went for their coffee - a caramel latte with oat milk. 10/10
The food is great, service is exceptional. Rigatoni was my favorite. All the cocktails we had were also great.
Love this new addition to Sawyer Yards! MAVEN is the best place to grab a meal or a quick drink. Absolutely love the patio! This is a great addition to the neighborhood
The ambiance was great during my visit. I was a big fan of the fish dip and I am looking forward to returning to order more carajillos.
Ambience 10/10 Music 10/10 Vanilla Matcha with the cold foam 10/10 This is a really cool place to get work at, lounge like and very comfortable.
The food and service were amazing. I ordered the Carajillo and it was the best I’ve ever had. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice night out!
Casual coffee shop by day and elevated food and atmosphere at night. Both are outstanding. A new neighborhood gem.
Small but cozy place to get a coffee, haven't had any food their so can't attest to the quality of it but the cortado I got there was nice.
I am loving maven! Great coffee and bites during the day and dinner is fantastic! The service is great too!
Great seating options, Kai was wonderful, and the 70’s/ 80’s RnB playlist was a vibe.
I love the coffee there and Patrick makes a mean cocktail! Definitely worth a visit!
Beautiful, delicious, and such nice people. Highly recommend for a date night!
Soooo delicious! The restaurant is just beautiful, the drinks, the food…I am going back this week!
Food, service, and atmosphere, are top tier. Best margarita of my life.
Just got drinks here but the service was excellent and so were the cocktails!
More than a coffee shop, very nice menu and great atmosphere
From the attentive staff to the incredible food, I had an amazing experience at MAVEN - highly recommend!
The food was great, the portions weren’t bad, and the service was outstanding!
There's nothing i love more in the world than coffee. It's clear that Maven feels the same way.
Where is everyone? It’s Saturday night and we just had a killer meal at Maven. Restaurant week menu is unbelievable for the price - cocktails are epic and their playlist somehow is also amazing?? We wanted to rock out and stay forever.
We LOVE this place. The decor of the restaurant is so nice, the music sets a very chill mood, and the food is delicious. We get the avocado and black bean breakfast tacos every time. The green sauce is to die for. Staff is wonderful. Great job.
Maven in Sawyer Yards is an absolute gem! With its prime location and live music on weekends, the vibes are unmatched! Their margarita is definitely the best I’ve had in Houston and their coffee/breakfast menu is perfect for during the day. Everything on the dinner menu is SO amazing, the artichoke is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten! Overall, 10 out of 10.
First time going and it was amazing!!! The atmosphere- ambience and customer service was great! Everyone was welcoming- MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR BEX! Amazing! 😻
My bestie and I just enjoyed a wonderful dining experience tonight! We shared the olives, oysters, deviled eggs, beet salad, pork belly, and rigatoni followed by the basil melon and lemon cake desserts! The service was unbelievable! The oysters, pork belly, and basil melon dessert were my favorites, but it was all delicious! The Button Buck mocktail was the best drink! I wouldn't mind the recipe for home ;) When I first walked in, I asked them to find out where they got the blue chairs! I want those for my home as well!! Beautiful decor! Well done guys, and welcome to the neighborhood!! I can't wait to return to try the rest of the menu! But just a heads up, (no pun intended) ladies, watch out for the shelving right outside the women's restroom! I almost knocked myself out!
Such a gem of a neighborhood spot! Tons of parking, and the interior is gorgeous, cozy and inviting. Sat at the bar before sitting for dinner, and the bartenders were helpful in walking us through the cocktail list (the drinks are phenomenal!). Food is excellent - the oysters are amazing with the granita giving an extra little surprise. But don't overlook the Fish Dip, seriously could have made an entire meal out of it. Steak au Poivre was perfectly cooked, and it's a really big portion. We didn't sit outside, but the back patio was packed and the front patio will be another great option once it's done. Super impressed with this new concept from Maven and cannot wait to go back!
Incredible. Highly recommend. The little corn bread amuse Bouche and to go cookies were wonderful cherries on top as well. The soup chef came out to personally check on our experience. Food was divine. Will be back with friends!
I had an amazing time at MAVEN Sawyer Yards! The food was incredible (the steak and spicy rigatoni are a must!) The vibe was perfect and the staff were all friendly. Don't forget the amazing coffee in the morning! MAVEN is a must!
Wonderful experience at the Maven, heard of the place but this was first time trying it! Definitely a must go! Clark was such a wonderful host and explained everything for me, and help me with the simplest questions! I will be coming back again soon!
I loveee this new concept of Maven. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was even better! You have to try the steak and the fish dip.... so good. I can't wait to come back when the patio opens!!
So excited about this new addition to the First Ward! They have a great coffee program, but their dinner service is next level. The smoked fish dip, maitake mushrooms and steak au poivre are some of my favorites. Look forward to adding MAVEN at Sawyer Yards to my rotation!
Awesome experience visiting Maven this morning. Excellent coffee and very well made breakfast tacos. The black bean, avacado, egg tacos were my favorite. The bacon in the bacone, egg, and cheese had an awesome smoked flavor. Will be dreaming about the green salsa. Will definitely be back for cocktails!
I went here for a friends birthday on Steak Day, and then following week went back for Taco Tuesday solo! It’s a great place, and I called ahead to make a reservation so I had a great seating area as well! I really enjoyed the chicken tacos I had on taco Tuesday, and I’m not going to lie at my friend’s birthday we got the steak, pasta, and oysters! The flavor profile on all of it was amazing! The s’more’s dessert was a real sweet treat, but for myself personally I enjoyed the tiramisu I had! Also I tried a black tea, matcha, and carajillo and everything was amazing. Love it and definitely am looking to make another reservation to go back soon!
Maven is the best! We made a reservation for a friend’s birthday dinner and had a ton of oysters, which were fantastic. I also had the steak the other day and it was incredible. Highly recommend the carajillo and delicious sour if you want alcoholic bevvy, and the button buck or matcha if alcohol isn’t your vibe. Definitely be mindful of space and make a reservation if you’re planning to go!
Probably the prettiest coffee shop in Houston! On the weekends there is a sit down brunch. I only did a coffee today, matcha to be exact. The Jade’s Kiss is matcha with lavender and a cold foam. 5 stars. Plenty of parking. The bathrooms are clean and thoughtful. They have mouthwash and feminine products that are complimentary. The staff are friendly. Seems like a great workspace or the perfect environment for a solo date and journaling.
The space was beautiful and so amazingly welcoming. The food was stellar and the cocktails and coffee were extremely on point. Will definitely be back to try more things but just wow. Blown away on a Monday night. The amount of care and consideration taken in this space. From the spacing of the tables to the excellent home-y touches in the bathroom. I a thousand percent recommend this spot. There's plenty of space indoors and excellent space outdoors too. Dinner service starts at five but you can grab a drink and relax at a bar section they have there.
We had heard of Maven from Isaiah, and finally had an opportunity to celebrate here. What a great choice! The building is an unusual reconfiguration in an area that is known for creative revitalization. We had reserved a seat outside with a lovely view of downtown. Clark welcomed us and got us settled in. Bex served us with great guidance in the menu, and helpful adjustments to our cocktails (excellent old fashion.) We enjoyed octopus, rigatoni, smoked grouper, mushrooms, and flan for dessert. We spoke with Nico, the Spanish chef, about how we had lived in Spain for years and were delighted with the food he prepared. Greg, the manager, took time to visit and ensure that everything was well received. We had high expectations and tonight surpassed them. Well done to the whole crew. We are looking forward to trying brunch next…
I had a wonderful experience at this place earlier today for brunch. The service, food, and drinks were all great. I love that it’s close to my apartment. I’ll definitely be back! Had to update my review, as this is my second time coming and they’re always welcoming, hospitable, and accommodating.
We just hosted a private event to honor arts educators, and the Maven team made everything so easy, wonderful, and special for our guests. The Maven team walked us through the process and provided a fantastic event. The staff took care of everything for us so we could focus on honoring our guests. We’ve been coming to Maven since it opened, and every time we come, the service, food, and staff are all next level. If you’re looking for a private event space, definitely book Maven. Thank you, Maven, for taking such good care of us!
Andrea was great! We had the octopus with potatoes and it was the best. Then tried the devil eggs. Only comment is if you cut two eggs in half where is the fourth as the meal only comes with three halves. S’mores dessert was awesome! Thank you again for a great date night.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Maven, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! This restaurant is the perfect spot for a girls' night out or a romantic date night. The ambiance is super cute and inviting, with charming decor. The menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes, all beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty meal or something light, Maven has something to satisfy every palate. The cocktails are also a highlight—creative and refreshing! If you're looking for a cozy place to celebrate a special occasion or just enjoy a lovely dinner with friends or a loved one, I highly recommend Maven. You won’t be disappointed!
We had a great time at Maven! The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in—and the service was stellar. Every item we ordered off the menu, from the oysters and steak to the spicy rigatoni (def our fav) to the brownie with butter ice cream; were all phenomenal. The chef made it a point to personally stop at our table and ensure that we were enjoying our meals. Overall, we really loved the atmosphere, the food and the live music. And parking is surprisingly convenient considering the area. We will definitely be back to Maven!
We went for Taco Tuesday bingo, but were a bit too early. I instead ordered the burger and it was the best I have ever eaten in my life. The fries were perfect. Service was perfect, friendly, and kind from Bex. The chef came out and talked to us. She was also so friendly and kind. DJ 3-D was fun and lively and gave us an amazing set of 90s music. I was so happy that I didn't want to leave. I would've shut this place down if I didn't have to get back home. I cannot wait to go back. I cannot recommend this place enough!
This was our first time and won’t be our last. We had so much fun and enjoyed every moment. We made a reservation at 5:15p for a birthday dinner. It was empty when we got there because we were so early but busy when we left. We wanted to enjoy Happy Hour 5p-7p and Wednesday Steak Night. We were not disappointed! We got a HH few cocktails and $1.50 oysters. The Steak Night dinner included a steak, loaded potato and a beer or an up charge for a glass of red or white wine. Everyone made us feel so special and were really attentive through the whole dinner.
I came in for my birthday for their Oyster Special , the service was wonderful and attentive. I got a mocktail called the button buck and it was better most cocktails I’ve had. We ordered the pulpo and some other dishes to accompany the oysters and everything we had was delicious. Their chef Sasha came out and interacted with us and over all made the day feel very special. Be mindful the restaurant has limited space so definitely call ahead to check! I’ve also come in another day for their matcha and it was so tasty!
Friendly service and a nice casual vibe. A little tough to find, but they have a really good coffee and cocktail menu. The food was good for the most part, although unspectacular. Fun place for a relaxing brunch
Saturday night was chill and perfect. Service is outstanding and the dinner here is top notch!! Such a hidden secret! So many many great dishes you cannot go wrong choosing. We will definitely be back!
Very cool, elevated neighborhood bistro & coffee shop. The Sandia Smash and 12 Point Buck are must try cocktails! Every single dish was incredible, from the Pork Belly to the Spicy Rigatoni, to the East Coast Oysters, to the side dishes (get the artichoke and mushrooms!) What really impressed me was the great pricing. One of the best steaks I've had in the city for around $30. We've already booked another reservation for this week. Plenty of parking and they've added a beautiful green space to the area with a great view of the Houston Skyline! Highly recommend!!!
If you’re a creature of habit like me and are in need of a new weekly staple to obsess over…stop looking and run to MAVEN Sawyer Yards!!!! I’ve become a regular in the mornings here to get the best matcha latte I’ve ever sipped (don’t miss their regular drip coffee either). I’ve also enjoyed evenings with friends for the perfect girls’ night, and now, I’ve just experienced their new brunch menu. As a tough brunch critic, I can confidently say they nailed it across the board. There’s something for everyone—sweet, savory, and perfect shareables for when I have a light morning appetite. Plus, their patio offers an amazing view of the Houston skyline that adds to the experience. Menu recs: Pulpo Deviled eggs Spicy Rigatoni Smoked Fish Dip Brunch recs: Breakfast Tacos Pan Perdu Avocado Toast Everyone is always friendly and the team behind the bar doesn’t miss a beat!!! Hats off!!
Amazing space with an abundance of natural lighting. Elevated drinks and high-powered coffee. Ambiance is good for meeting and workflow. Location is superior and service top notch. Great work to Juan Carlos and the Rex Hospitality team! 10/10 recommend!
Popped in for coffee. The abuelita chai latter “dirty” was amazing. Hints of cocoa without being sweet was perfection. Outdoor seating with a bit of background music and great views of the downtown skyline. My only critique is there really is no seating inside for folks who are just ordering coffee. It seemed geared more towards folks dining in. Coffee shop with a hostess stand was difficult to reconcile.
Went for the coffee and to get some work done. Ended up getting an amazing iced chai tea, super amazing spot and they don’t charge for non dairy alternatives! Highly recommend to work from early in the morning cause the atmosphere was amazing!
I went there the first Saturday that they opened and i loved every moment of it. My waitress was Tyler and she was the sweetest most welcoming person ever!! Her attentiveness was perfect. I didn’t even expect being seated next to Lance McCullers Jr himself. I asked for a picture and he was so nice and asked about our experience. We were so content that we went back that next morning for the breakfast and coffee. We saw Tyler again and met the best host ever, Clark. Clark was so sweet and welcoming, he had great conversation skills. I can’t wait to go back to see them again!! The breakfast tacos were amazing and the green salsa was immaculate.
I don't know what you are doing or why you have not been here. You ask for class. You ask for great cuisine, You ask for amazing service.. then for all that you are worth you come here. It's not only the best coffee it's a vibe. You're looking for the right spot on Houston. This is it. Get here now..
What an amazing Spring evening on Maven's patio. Inventive cocktails, great suggestions and service by Bex, and just one delectible dish after another. Gazpacho, oysters, artichoke hearts, pork belly, and sole meuniere - all were sublime. We will certainly be back to this hidden gem.
I come to Sawyer Yards often, but today I noticed a small building in the back. Clark greeted me and was very nice and helpful. He recommended me to try the Pandan flavor with the cold brew, and though I was reluctant, I went ahead and ordered it. I was simply blown away by how good it was!! They make all of their syrups from scratch and you can taste it. The place itself is very cute and I will definitely come back to try more coffee drinks.
Five-star experience all around! I love the location—the atmosphere is elevated, and the interiors are beautiful. We sat inside, but I can't wait to come back and enjoy the patio. The service was excellent; our server was knowledgeable, and the chef gave great recommendations. We ordered family-style and tried everything! This is probably my new favorite steak in Houston—delicious and a must-order. The Caesar Cups are fantastic, the Fish Dip is absolutely divine(also best in Houston!), and the Spicy Rigatoni is also a must-try! For drinks, I had a margarita and a glass of red wine with dinner—both were great. HIGHLY recommend Maven at Sawyer Yards for an exceptional dining experience!
The staff at Maven took such great care of us! Super attentive and gave us a wonderful experience. Their menu and cocktails are expansive and super interesting. The vibes were perfect for brunch and the decor/music was on par. Looking forward to coming back to try out their dinner and Wed night steak night!

They are cashless. Which I don’t like but other than that a chill place.
Almond croissant is amazing! Also love the homemade tortillas used for the tacos😌
This is a small upscale coffee and cocktail bar.. with some small bites that are a little bit filling. If you've never gone before, I recommend you give him a try.
Can we say Very cutesy. Very demure. As an entrepreneur I seek out a change of scenery. Cute. Quaint. And a vibe. Are my requirements. Annddd from the pictures Maven fit the bill. The decor didn’t disappoint. The baristas were brilliant. The host Clark did his name justice being my ‘super-man’. The service was A1 ask for Tyler/Taylor (I keep mixing up her name) shed polite, knowledgeable, and provides the 5star service that makes patrons want to return. *Warning* the manager on duty that day was a bit of a Karen 🙄 you know the type, feign politeness and layers of microaggressions…that type. However, I won’t let her spoil this review. There’s a policy that you can only be seated in certain areas if you are partaking in brunch. That makes sense, however it isn’t posted anywhere. Not on the menu, not on the website, not on any signage in or around the building. I will return, that white flat was the best cup of coffee I ever had!
The coffee was fine, but the music was too loud
Loved the vibe at Maven. Aesthetic, relaxed and great atmosphere. My wife Got the jades kiss drink, however what was served was not the jades kiss (matcha based drink) took it back and they just topped off the cold foam, instead of making it correctly. The drink had absolutely no flavor. Not sure if their matcha ratio is off but it was terrible. I got the hojicha latte which was just ok.
Missed the brunch, so we had to get the sandwich menu. The grouper sandwich was overrated tuna fish with weird ingredients. The Cuban was really small and burnt. Neither one was worth $15 each.
Some friends and I visited on steak night, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. When we arrived, no one was at the hostess stand — the steak cook was the one who greeted us and said a waitress would be out to help. After we stood there for a while, he eventually had to go find someone. Inside, it was quite hot, which made the long wait feel even worse. We placed our order a little after 6:30 p.m., but my food didn’t arrive until after 7:30 — and when it finally came, it was the wrong order. Once we did get our food, it was good, but service remained slow throughout the evening. While I understand busy nights can be challenging, it was the waitress who came to apologize when it really should have been management stepping in. We left feeling let down and frustrated, expecting much better for a featured night.
Strange and confusing service, seating and ordering process. Received a $20 random charge in my card after I left (it was refunded, but still doesn’t feel like a place with secure payments). Dine-in coffee served on to-go cup. Some available tables are set with plates and napkins and cutlery and some are not. Want to like this place. It’s a pretty spot for sure with good food. But really, service needs to improve.
Came here for brunch with friends after a class at Yoga Better. It's a cute place with a nice aesthetic. The food and my espresso martini was good. 3 out of 4 of us ordered the breakfast tacos (avocado black beans and egg & tater tot pico and eggs) which came with potatoes. My friend also ordered the waffles and they enjoyed it. I also ordered the blueberry muffin but it never came out which leads me to my next point and the reason for my rating. The service was lackluster or non-existent. The waitress came to take our drink order and it felt like a lot of time had passed before she came back to take our food order. The food came out and not once did the waitress or anyone else come back to check on us. Had she done that she would have known my muffin never came out. She finally came by to give us our check and apologize for not coming back to check on us. The bright side was they comped my muffin. I'll check them out again and hope the service improves.
Rather mediocre brunch offering. My chilaquiles were soggy when they came out and service was impersonal and sporadic. The host was incredibly nice and welcoming, but after that it was a rather lackluster experience. Also, rather disappointed that they only had Gulf oysters available, especially with how warm it still is. Overall a cute concept but there are better options in town for the same price point.

I love coming to Maven; it’s extremely nice and the food is pretty good; but the customer service isn’t too great. I’ve been coming here for months and haven’t had the best service with 3 of the cashiers. Most of the time no one welcomes you when you walk in, they’re a bit passive aggressive and quite frankly, it’s just not really a welcoming environment. The scenery, food and drinks are 9/10 but the service is 4/10. I think what’s more important than the taste and quality of a restaurant is the service. I love y’all Maven but please do better with the how you welcome and service guest. At the least, just put a smile on your face.

$18 for an espresso martini that was very small in size and had a taste of pure spirits with a hint of coffee - it was disgusting. Not happy at all with the pricing or quality of the drink I received.
i got burnt french toast for $17. it was dry too, no syrup (i had to ask for it). the pornstar martini i got was amazing but im disappointed in the food. overpriced with poor presentation. like why is that little piece off to the side? i think they could use more indoor seating. service from the staff was otherwise great. loved my waiter and the runners.
Came for the Steak night (order for 2), got the in house wine (red and white) to try out. Ordered to go the Croque Madame (instructed to have made close towards the end of our meal to retain freshness). Ordered lava cake and flan for desert. Arrived 5:05 pm, and was seated outside. Wine arrived at 5:33. Steak arrived at 5:40. Croque Madame arrived at 6:37 on a plate. Left the establishment 7:49 with the lava cake and scoop of ice cream to go. S1 had forgotten the deserts around 7:00. Only checked on us maybe twice in the beginning, once in the middle for missing the dessert, and at the end for the check. S2 is a blessed person and checked on us multiple times. Made sure we have gotten everything, kept us in the loop, displayed empathy.

I tried to come here today but was stopped at the door and was told this location is permanently closed. Just a heads up!
This place is pretty unprofessional. Please save your money. It's an overrated coffee shop w some mediocre drinks.
Very rude customer service.. Second time I have been here and they have been rude both times.. so disappointing..
Nice spot to grab a coffee and pastry, but get ready to leave quickly as tables are reserved for ‘dining-in’ customers only.
The coffee and grilled cheese were okay, but the service was terrible. Some lady (maybe a manager) came out of nowhere and told me to keep my shoes on. Not even my friends had noticed I had my shoes off. It was also an area where the carpet was at so I don't understand how me being in socks in my own seat could be disturbing her or the place. She could've also said it in a nicer way instead of being rude. Apparently that wasn't enough. She came to our table that we had been seating at for hours and told us they were closing down the dining room for diner hours and we could only be at the bar or patio. I didn't understand that either especially since the place was nearly empty and there were no signs saying that. First and last time going to this place. You should maybe hire a manager that knows how to speak to costumers nicely.
To sum up an overall disappointing experience (it would take too long to type out) I think the most annoying thing was that asking for extra bread for our burrata felt like requesting table-side brain surgery. Running such a small restaurant should not be this hard.
I had high hopes for this coffee shop, but my first visit turned out to be a major disappointment. From the moment I walked in, it felt like I wasn’t welcomed at all, even though the place was practically empty. I wanted to take a quick look around and maybe order some pastries to go, but her attitude made the entire experience uncomfortable. It felt like she didn’t even want us there. For a business that should thrive on creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, it was shocking to encounter such hostility. Honestly, I walked out without ordering anything because I couldn’t imagine spending money in a place that treats customers like this. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who values good service.
I’m not one to write negative reviews, but I just had an awful experience here. Ordered my coffee with oat milk and saw them pour whole milk into my drink. I asked to double check where the cashier was insistent It was oat milk. I took my drink back to my seat had a sip and it tasted funny. So I let it sit for the next hour and a half that I was sitting and noticed the foam was not collapsing, a telltale sign this was not pure oat milk. Brought it to the attention again of the cashier where they still insisted I was wrong. No offer to remake the drink. Just insisting that I was wrong. I wish I was, but my hot girl tummy issues tell me otherwise.
I had a disappointing experience at this coffee and cocktail bar. The woman at the front, who seemed to be the manager, was unwelcoming and rude. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we were being pushed to leave rather than being welcomed. While standing near the bar while the whole bar was empty, she told us to move away, adding to the overall uncomfortable atmosphere. Customer service should be a priority, especially in a place like this, but unfortunately, it was lacking. I won’t be returning.
Terrible from start to finish... Venue was super hot mid day like 80+ degrees Cappuccino was mediocre for $7 Sourdough sandwich was rock hard to eat, the arugula salad was straight sour and the deviled eggs had too much horseradish Will never come back
Very disappointed, we acquired a sitter for date night and Ubered over to find out they had the whole place closed for an event. And they didn’t post a notice on social media informing the public it was going to closed for that event. While we waited for our Uber to check out a different spot, I noticed other patrons arriving and being told the establishment was closed. It was a waste of time for us as well as others SO If a customer is not really important to maven, I will take my business elsewhere.
Just finished dinner. Restaurant was not busy. Took an hour to get our dinner. Portions were small. Patio had no lights so people were using their phones to see what they were eating. Expensive for extremely slow service and small portions.
Food came soooo slow. We waited for like half an hour for a sandwich to be served. Service was like nothing as they take order before you sit down. I would suggest only tip 10% as they don’t deserve it and you have to even grab your own dining wares. Oh btw, don’t forget to check if the dining wares you grab are clean. As we saw many unclean ones in that tray. Bonne appétit. ;)
We came specifically for the Houston restaurant week brunch and we’re really dissatisfied. It was very busy so we sat at the bar (which is totally fine, our bad for not making a reservation!), our orders were taken, we received our drinks and first course and then were ignored for almost an hour. No one refilled our water glasses, asked how we were doing, or cleared the dirty plates that had been sitting empty. When we finally caught the waitresses attention it was clear she had forgotten to place our second course orders with the kitchen. When the food did come our chilaquiles were near inedible, the chips were completely soggy and mushy, the fried egg was overdone, crispy, and barely runny, and the salsa was overwhelming because of how much was on the plate. By the time the third course came (an underfilled “poptart” and a store bought tasting cinnamon roll) we were ready to go. Credit where it’s due, the cocktails and French fries (one in our party got the croque madame) were very good but we were overall severely disappointed. We will not be back.
So it is like this, i saw this post on tik tok from the executive chef advertising the steak night, it sounded amazing, from how she explain the steak, the sides, the atmosphere, and the spacious parking lot. To my surprise the only great thing was the parking lot. I arrived with my friend around 5:40PM, by the time we place our order it was 6:00PM, 2 steak night specials medium temperature , with loaded fries(the advertised specials were baked potatoes, but it was for the people who make reservations, which is understandable), and a service of 12 oysters, by 7:00 PM nothing haven’t arrived to the table, we spoke with the waitress (which were courteous all the time), by this point we notice a couple of steaks plates being returned by other tables, and people already complaining about the wait time. 7:15PM the steaks arrived (not the oysters yet), to our surprise the steak were medium well almost well done, but the worst is that they were cold, after waiting more than an hour, and then your food arriving cold is unacceptable, we asked for the steaks to be re-fired, by 7:25pm the oysters arrived, but they were 11 instead of 12, it seems minimal, but it was already adding on to a annoying experience, 7:40 PM the new steaks arrived, cook perfectly, but the side change from fries to tater tots (which tasted like the frozen ones at walmart), the waitress was friendly at let us know that we wouldn’t need to pay for the steak specials, just the oysters l, but we did have to correct the check because it still had the specials in there. Is sad going to a place, just for the simple reason of having a good time, and try a new place, you never know it this will be your next go to spot. But in this case, i wouldn’t return, because the experience provided was terrible l.
Here’s the thing. The breakfast tacos at Maven are pretty great, and I’ve had MANY awesome experiences here. So, today I was having a particularly stressful day and decided to treat myself and even added an iced coffee to my order! All was going well until they handed me the cup with “Some Call it OCD … Obsessive Coffee Drinker” on the cup. As someone who has struggled with OCD her whole life and knows the terrible side of it, I’m shocked that this would even be something to PRINT on a cup?! As much as I like Maven, I’m not sure I can support a company that tries to make fun of a serious mental health condition. Do better.
Warning for anyone visiting. I was hit with what looked like a card-scam attempt. I paid for two drinks, tip included, and the transaction went through. Twenty minutes later a staff member claimed my card was “declined” and told me to pay again. My bank confirmed the payment had fully processed, yet they kept insisting I use another card. A second staff member came out, raised her voice, dismissed the bank record right in front of my client, and said I “still had to pay.” When I refused to be charged twice, she laughed and told me they’d never serve me again. This tactic is common: they claim a normal pending charge means a decline and hope you won’t question a second transaction. All payments show as pending at first. Unprofessional, aggressive and deeply suspicious. Never going back.
