We hosted a private party of 40+ on the back patio, and it was such a beautiful space for our group. The atmosphere was wonderful, and so many of our ladies were taking pictures because the patio setup truly made the night feel special. It was the perfect setting for our event, and we’re so thankful for the opportunity to gather there. We would absolutely consider hosting another event here in the future.
Can you really get amazing Gluten Free Vietnamese food in Waco, TX? Yes, you can at Clay Pot! We started our meal with Gluten Free Pork Fried Egg Rolls. They were so delicious we had to order another serving!!! For our entrees, we selected Pineapple Fried Rice, Shrimp Fried Rice and Chicken Bun Xoa. All were delicious!!! So if you are in Waco for a weekend getaway or are a local, make the trip to Clay Pot in Downtown Waco. You will be glad you did!!!!
First time and thought what the heck why don't I try The Clay Pot entree because after all it is The Clay Pot restaurant. They put so much beef in it that I had to ask if they put double beef. Nope I guess they just put a generous amount of beef in their entrees as a default. Mostly affordable for anybody on a budget and our food came out within 15 minutes ...not too bad.
What a fantastic vietnamese spot! It's not a high end place, but it is so cute, well decorated, and fairly priced seemingly kind of spot. I ordered the special soup with beef and it was good! I wish it had a tad more veggies/mushrooms/meat to noodles. My husband had the deluxe pho and liked it. The menu has a lot of great looking options and I would want to return to try more!
I’ve eaten here a couple of times and I’d have to say it’s become one of my favorite places for comfort food! The atmosphere is nice and it usually isn’t too crowded. I love the ginger tea and I’ve loved all the dishes I’ve had so far, my favorite being the pho chay which is a hearty rice noodle soup loaded with veggies. The serving sizes are very generous as well and I often have enough to take home for left overs. I would also recommend the mango cheesecake for dessert, it’s amazing! I love to recommend this place to anyone who will head me out on it.
Great new remodel. The place looks great. Chris was our waiter and he was friendly and prompt. Great service. The Pho with brisket was great. The broth was very soothing. Like a hug from the inside. The chicken fried rice was very good and unlike some places they do use egg and you can see it. Overall everything was great!
Okay, gave this place another chance and it didn't disappoint. Last time I came to this place was in 2021 and didn't come back until today. I like that we can simply order now at front. I realized I didn't give enough chance to explore this place more. I got pho and I would say that even they didn't give the usual toppings to the pho (Thai basil, sprouts, pepper etc), I'd grade it A- for the broth. I only tried the beef brisket though. I'll try the beef tenderloin next time and maybe it will be A+. We will see, I still like Sugar Spice pho, so this really comes as a tie since they didn't serve the toppings. The vermicelli bowl is great too, the pork meat is fantastic! But again, it's missing the chopped spring rolls toppings and the vinegar sauce. The meat is really good though! I just don't like that they use a larger noodles in the vermicelli bowls. The dumplings look and taste authentic like homemade. Altogether, a great experience and evening. They have a patio at the back too, nice place to get away and not feel you're in an Asian fastfood.
Had a good lunch here with my brother today! Got lemon grass stir, clay pot, spring roll and curry 🍛. Lemon 🍋 grass was a bit spicy for us but the taste was good! Clay pot was a bit different than I imagined but it was good with sweet savory stuff. Spring roll with peanut 🥜 sauce was good with housin sauce and chill sauce! My favorite one was curry 🍛 It wasn’t too spicy nor missing of anything so I recommend this one! There are many foods with vegetarian 🌱 options so come get the one of your choices 😊☺️😇😁 Cheers 🥂
We had an amazing experience and plan on visiting again. The food was great, the tea was delicious, and I love that the kids menu was accommodating. This is such a gem for the town of Waco. The staff, the service, and the environment was pleasant. We ordered a lot I think but we are it all, it was good and something different in Waco. The is parking in the street, and there was available parking on the side of the building. Located in the downtown area of Waco, the restaurant is easy to find and see from the road. The entrance has a ramp which is great for wheelchair accessibility. Some tables and chairs are movable to make it possible and easy for wheelchair access. It's always great when you find/see that a restaurant is accessible for everyone. It was great, we will be back, and definitely recommend this place.
Appetizers were good But we didn't enjoy main course like fried rice and bun xao as we are Indians
First time at this restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and freshness of the food. I tried a sampling of dishes and was happy with all of them. The pho broth was a little bland but once I added my own mix of flavorings it was great. I didn’t like that I had to ask for hoisin, soy, sriracha sauces. I didn’t like the hat I wasn’t provided with basil in my vegetable options either as it makes the broth more fragrant. One thing that surprised me was when the waiter had me pay and sign before bringing an itemized check? However, all said the experience was good and I will probably be back next time I’m in Waco.
I decided to give Claypot another try after being let down a couple of times in the past, especially since I saw they renovated and brought in new staff. I was hopeful going in, and we were seated immediately, which was a great start. I ordered the deluxe pho and my fiancé got the shaken beef. The pho was okay, I did enjoy the broth, but I found it odd that there were no side veggies served and no chopsticks provided. I’m assuming it’s just a more Americanized approach, which is fine. Unfortunately, my fiancé’s shaken beef was lacking flavor and tasted more like boiled meat or meat cooked with water kind of bland overall. We’re grateful for the food in front of us, so we ate everything. On a positive note, the pork egg rolls were nice and crispy, and the chrysanthemum hot tea was AMAZING hands down the highlight of the visit. If I came back, it would honestly be just to grab that tea to go. Maybe it was an off day, but for now, I still prefer other Vietnamese restaurants in the area.
Overall experience was average. If expecting authentic bun bo hue, you will be disappointed. Used vermicelli noodles. Lack of meat. Not as filling compared to other Viet restaurants. Broth was still good though. Brisket was good. Beef meatballs were too rubbery. Atmosphere was good.
First , the food was amazing, as always. 2nd, I can’t remember the name of the waitress, but she has dyed red hair. she came to our table with a mouth full of food trying to take our order - rude?? Where are the manners?? We also asked if she could bring us chopsticks, she ended up just bringing one pair. When we asked if she could bring some for whole table she said mockingly said “chopsticks for the whole table.” She never once refilled our drinks, she was talking in a booth with the rest of the co workers pointing to us. We weren’t rude, just taken back by how she approached the table with a full mouth of food, literally trying to talk and take our order with food in her mouth where we could barely hear her. Her coworker came by and asked if we needed anything , when we explained the situation she was really nice and understanding. But this is the 2nd time I’ve eaten here and the service is crap. The cooks always do an outstanding job! The service should reflect that..
Thai tea + green thai tea are not sweet whatsoever and very watered down. (maybe 25% sweetness) They no longer have boba btw. Pho was SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT. Unfortunately, they have 1 size and it is like a small. There IS NO THAI BASIL or no basil at all. Also no lime nor bean sprouts. Just a bowl of pho with cilantro already in it. The noodles were too soft (overcooked) For me, that is not pho if there is no basil. Broth is not it. I can also smell as if tripe in it. The bowl itself is $13 and any meat added is +$2. For $15 and size: pls drive to Sugar Spice 17 minutes away. Stans Clay pot was mid. Nothing special abt it. My husband actually didn't enjoy it. In all, would not go back. Just very dissatisfied abt the food. Service and atmosphere is ok.
I was really excited to try out Clay Pot but I ended being disappointed. We ordered the Ca Kho Mam and the Beef Pepper Steak. The Ca Kho Mam was made with cod. It was flaky but tasteless. It has no flavor that is reminiscent of Vietnamese braised dishes in clay pots. The Beef Pepper Steak was over cooked, as in well-done. It was on the charred side. It should be more on the medium to medium rare side. Since I returned the Ca Kho Mam, I ordered the Pho with Meatballs. The pho broth had too much star anise flavor and was on the sweet side. The meatballs were good. I realize that everyone makes their food differently but it should still have the traditional taste of Vietnamese food. The service was good however, just not the food.
