all of the food was great and filling, plus the pastries are delicious
Amazing food and Pan Dulce. Honestly some of the best Mexican food in the area. Very home style quality meals that remind me of family get togethers and holidays. Their mole enchiladas are super delicious. I love coming for breakfast for the hot chocolate, the pan dulce, and their amazing savory dishes. 10/10 recommend.
I love this place in Berkeley. Any time I am missing home and authentic flavorful food, this is my spot to come. I come often and it never disappoints. The quality of food is superb, service is always friendly and fast. I have come with my friend who is very picky with food and even he loves the food.
Tucked somewhere between the caffeine-fueled chaos of UC Berkeley and the gray-haired hippies still clinging to the revolution through their PBS tote bags, Casa Latina sits quietly, doing God’s work. I drop in maybe once a month, and every time, it’s like pressing pause on the noise outside — the stressed-out students, the existential buskers, the vegan dog-walkers who look like they haven’t slept since 2012. Inside, it’s clean, warm, and efficient in that old-school, we-actually-care kind of way. The food? Relentless consistency. Everything that hits the table tastes like someone still gives a damn. I’m a burrito guy — not because I’m chasing novelty, but because their steak burrito is a wrapped act of divine intervention. The balance is perfect — tender meat, rice with soul, beans that don’t apologize for being beans. The steak? The best I’ve had in a burrito, anywhere. Period. Service is quick, precise, human. They don’t hover — they just know. And then there’s the Pan de Muerto. Every October and November, I go hunting across the Bay for the best Day-of-the-Dead bread. Most are dry impostors. Casa Latina’s version, though, is the real deal — buttery, aromatic, touched by the spirit of somebody’s abuela. The best this side of the Rio Grande, no exaggeration. So here’s my unsolicited advice: shut your laptop, stop pretending to study, and get yourself to Casa Latina. Disconnect from the madness of San Pablo Ave and let a burrito remind you that life, at least sometimes, still makes sense.
You are not going to get better Mexican food than this place. My daughter introduced me to it and I'm hooked. I drive 35 mi to eat here and it's worth it. Great service. Great food. You just can't ask for better.
🌮 🌯 🍖 This is my favorite Mexican spot in the Bay Area along with La Mission around the corner in university. My favorites include plantains, mole, fish tacos, and the pozole. You order at the counter and then there is plenty of seating available. They also have plenty of drinks, weekly specials like taco Tuesday, and Mexican baked goods.
I just love this spot. The staff are very nice. The space is spacious and filled with art. When we get takeout we sit and enjoy a margarita or agua fresca, and I am planning to come with a laptop for a coffee and work sesh soon! I got the Chicken Tortilla Soup and it is absolutely delicious! Here is a picture from day 2, halfway through the meal…so good, I slurped it all up. I love that it is served with avocado, chopped cilantro and onions, and cheese. It would be good vegetarian too, it has tons of julienned fresh veggies!
Looking for a nice place to have breakfast before leaving for our visit to San Francisco, we found this place and it was not bad at all. We were treated very well, the staff was super friendly and they explained the menu to us in detail. The food was tasty and fresh. The dining area was clean and the prices are very reasonable. You have to keep in mind that there is no parking, you have to pay to park on the street. Highly recommended for a delicious and excellent breakfast.
I finally hit a Tex Mex jackpot with this panadería / restaurant! Casa Latina Bakery not only has the tastiest pan dulce in this area (according to me), they also serve great tacos and salsas! The conchas and cuernitos 🥐 rival those in my hometown! I didn't realize they also serve comida! Loved the tacos de pollo asado and the tacos al pastor. The meat was so delish and the salsas added to the culinary experience. A family member enjoyed the chips and red salsa. I loved the pico. It's the cutest place in Berkeley! We enjoyed it.
This restaurant is just amazing! They have a panadería & they sell coffee as well as food, Mexican food to be exact. And all 3 are delicious. Me and my family ordered a little bit of everything and it all tasted amazing. We don’t live in area, but when we go back we definitely plan on going here again. The tacos I ordered were out of this world so perfect. The agua fresca de piña was so refreshing I needed a refill. Chicken tacos my son loved, and the fried banana was on point 😋. TBH I’m getting hungry writing this review. If you haven’t been you must! Trust me you won’t regret. Highly recommend.
I was hungry and I was in the area so I stopped at one of my favorite spots to eat, Casa Latina. I wasn’t too hungry, but I knew that I would enjoy two delicious grilled chicken tacos. I also had an amazing pineapple agua fresca which was perfect with the tangy salsa on my tacos. This place offers an excellent menu and everything is good. They also have a bakery where you can get Latin pastries which are also delicious. Especially with a cup of coffee or tea. Highly recommend this spot for a tasty meal and a cool environment.
I visited last week, having a strong craving for pupusas. Upon arrival, you'll notice the register and an enticing section dedicated to pan dulce and other delectable pastries. Unfortunately, my group of three and I arrived late at night, and the selection was limited - a clear indication of how popular the offerings are. Despite being a bit overzealous in my ordering, I opted for a pupusa, a side of plantains, and a taco dorado - lured by the extensive menu. Our waiter provided us with numbered placards for table-side service. The service was standard - not particularly fast or slow. However, the food was simply amazing! The pupusa was generously stuffed with its flavorful filling and complemented well with the curtido. The plantains were served with beans and queso, a combination that was incredibly tasty! And finally, the taco dorado was much larger than I expected and turned out to be my favorite dish.
I loved everything I ate here! The chips and guac were some of the best I’ve ever had. Horchata was perfectly sweet and tasted homemade. The mole and pollo empeñadas were delicious. The tacos had a ton of meat inside and the Al pastor was insanely flavorful. Pupusas we’re great too! I loved how this place was really nice inside but still felt like an authentic, down-to-earth and worth the price meal. Can’t wait to come back! I wanna try the flan 🍮
Casa Latina Bakery is just that: a homey, authentically Latin eatery offering baked goods and much more. The large space is filled with comfortable, eclectic furniture - suitable for a solo coffee br…
I live in the neighborhood and have been eating here regularly for 13 years. Everything is good, but unfortunately inconsistent. If you order the same $25 dollar burrito (super expensive btw) 100 times it will be constructed and taste slightly different every time. Sometimes it's bad, sometimes it's the best thing you've ever eaten. But you pay a LOT every time. Time of day seems to have a big influence on whether you get the sloppiest meal ever thrown together for money, or perfection. Employees seem very annoyed to be working there and dealing with customers.
Edit*** my family lives 30 mins away. We drove here because we have had several great visits previously. Today, we arrived at 8:15 pm, waiting in line, then they said they weren't preparing hot drinks anymore, even though they close at 9:00pm. We brought our whole family here for Mexican Hot Chocolates, and left with disappointed kids. We would understand if we had arrived 10 mins to closing, but we got there with enough time to order. ************* We ordered burritos and Pan De Muerto. Everything was delicious! Staff was very friendly. Hope to come back here many times! Wish we lived close by.
My cousin and I had breakfast together. I chose the enfrijoladas, as they are not commonly found on menus, and she selected los tropicales. Unfortunately, our order was quite disappointing. The enfrijoladas seemed to consist primarily of refried beans spread over eggs and tortillas. Additionally, it was apparent that the beans used were canned and dried. I would not choose to return for breakfast. The one item that was good was the horchata coffee with a shot of espresso.
