We ordered to the Delta hotel for my birthday and it was all amazing and so flavorful. I will order again and highly recommend.
Delicious! Always a good meal. I have many favorite rolls, but one is the EC roll. Looking forward to drinks and oysters on the patio this summer. Cheers
Wasabi on Broadway is #2 of the only 3 Winnipeg restaurants that get a 5-star review from me for their sushi. Wasabi on Broadway is one of the few longstanding sushi houses in Winnipeg. Back in 1999, it was the swank newcomer among a handful of traditional sushi establishments in the city. Today, in 2020, it is a local dining icon. A complete, elevated dining experience without the formality, tucked away in an unassuming residential neighbourhood known for its groundedness. This is the kind of place to take out-of-towners, clients, or special someones. It is also just the place to trust the "Chef's Choice" for sashimi.
Hands down the best sushi restaurant on the prairies. Top quality ingredients, professional service. Our favorite place for last 10 years.
I always make a point to visit here when I come to Winnipeg. Some of the best sushi I've ever had. Get the Crazy 88 and the New Style. You're welcome.
Simply amazing, very friendly and professional staff, great atmosphere and by far the best sushi in winnipeg.
The sushi here is the very best. The service is great and the desire to provide great food is evident. You feel their sushi matters to them.
The sushi here is definitely high quality. They are one of the few places that serve Japanese Wagyu and also Wild sockeye salmon! 5 Stars!
Went with my sister for dinner. Service was friendly, attentive, pleasant and timely. The food was amazing - 5 stars!
This is one of my all time favorite sushi places. Amazing service and creative tasty rolls with high quality sushi. Highly recommended
Best sushi hands down in Winnipeg. Have been going for years. Nice location to eat in and delivery is easy enough. Not a fan of having to order through the app, but it's a small nuisance. I enjoy the menu additions and the staples that they have. Also a nice selection of sake that they have. Certainly in my top three worldwide places for sushi.
Simply the best sushi in Winnipeg. The quality of the food and service is top notch. It isn't an easy task to get fresh bluefin tuna this far from the ocean but it was perfect. And their tempura is so light and delicate, it should be the standard for any sushi restaurant. But be wary, all Wasabi locations are not created equal...the Broadway location is the flagship and seems to be the most consistent in terms of quality.
My favourite restaurant of all time! I have been coming to Wasabi on Broadway with my family since I was just 10 years old. Celebrating every birthday, special occasion, or just stopping in for a quick lunch, you always know the sushi will be exceptional and the service will be second to none. Thank you Cho, Adam and team for always delivering excellence! See you soon.
Best Sushi I have ever had! If you like Sushi you must try this place. Please make reservations in advance. 1. Goma-ae (spinach salad) 2. Mango Shrimps 3. New style and OMG roll 4. Sashmi 5. Hot sake
The first place I ever tried sushi (20 years ago) and it's still one of my faves! Pricy but worth it. Sometimes I wish the pieces were a bit smaller, hard to eat in one bite. Their appetizers and salads are also excellent!
Amazing food! The service was excellent, and the food divine. It's somewhat pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. There were repeated exclamations from everyone in our party about how good the food was. Highly recommended!
Food was great. Nicole was perfect. Loved the atmosphere. It was my groups first time coming and we will definitely be back!
We love Wasabi on Broadway. Great decor, friendly staff, and some of the best sushi in Winnipeg. Ask about the daily specials, you will not be disappointed. They also have a great selection at their bar.
Fantastic sashimi. Delicious sushi and great oysters (sauce is amazing, citrus flavoured). It's a bit pricier than most sushi restaurants, buthe worth every penny. Service was on point, never feels like I'm waiting for my food. Sitting at the bar is my favorite.
Great spot for date night. Little pricier than my normal range but good for special occasions. Staff were extremely knowledgeable on the menu and super friendly.
Love the food here. Good cocktails as well. A little bit expensive, but a great place to eat when celebrating special occasions! I’ve never been served anything at this location that wasn’t delicious.
Excellent meal, food just kept coming as we ordered. Decent value for our group of 8 and great quality sushi. Keep it going, Wasabi Broadway!
Delicious vegan sushi. My fav agedashi tofu ever. Price is a little higher than usual, but it's worth it.
Best sushi in the Prairies. Servers have great suggestions and very attentive.
The oysters were amazing! It was our first time here and our server was very nice and had some great recommendations. We were seated at the vestibule part of the house that has been turned to a small room/space with one table. And to be honest, my gf and I liked it. The vibes were great!
100% our favourite place to go out and eat. The service is always top tier. The food is so fresh, and the flavours are just incredible. The atmosphere is comforting, especially walking in and being greeted by their amazing team. Their server's and chef's are so kind, and make the experience so enjoyable. Will always recommend this restaurant to friends and people I know. Cho & his wife Tracy have done an amazing thing with this restaurant.
Food was impeccable. Our Server was lovely and we were incredibly impressed with her knowledge of every menu item. Evening was a 10 out of 10.
Wow! My husband and I just enjoyed a dinner here and it was phenomenal. Our server (brunette woman) sat us upstairs and she was amazing. Each dish was amazing. Would definitely reccomend the tuna carpaccio. Yes it is more expensive than your average sushi, but the value is amazing and totally worth it.
We had the yakitori, best in the city! Beef, chicken, and shrimp. The beef was so tender and marinated. Ordered a bunch of rules and of course new style Sashimi. All of which was fresh + delicious.
Hands down the best sushi restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. You get what you pay for, the chefs are incredible. The atmosphere is cute. Super clean. Great portions. Location is great, has side street parking! 10/10 recommend as a nice night out for dinner.
Excellent food and I will definitely come back! The waitress explained to us each time she serves an order. We paid high money but it was really worth it.
Winnipeg Jets roll despite being a bit expensive, was so flavourful it won me over. The other dishes I ordered were a cut above as well. Worth the price.
The only place for sushi in Winnipeg! There are definitely differences between the Taylor and Broadway locations but both are awesome. Cho and his wife are amazing and know how to treat their customers. Fish is fresh and their rolls and appetizers are top notch. You would definitely not expect a land locked place like Winnipeg to have such amazing sushi.
Staff and food are AMAZING. Every time we walk in the sushi chefs always greet us with a big smile and a warm hello. We always get taken care of by Mike (who does a fantastic job). Very authentic, prices are higher than most sushi places, but well worth it. Totally recommend.
Incredible sushi and such attentive, kind staff. The food was well thought out. Good flavour profiles. I wish I had taken a photo! Can't wait to go back. Thank you so much!
We were in Wasabi last night for supper and had a really great experience. The time before hadn't been great so we had a bit of trepidation. Last night was awesome though. The food was delicious. Rolls were perfect. 1$ oysters were amazing. The yam tempura was perfect this time. The wasabi house roll is definitely our favorite. Would be great to try. We ended up sitting at the bar and Paige couldn't have possibly been better. We left very full and very happy. We'll definitely be back very soon.
It is located in a beautiful old home with a nice patio to sit out on in the evenings. Upstairs has tatami mats which aren't as common in most Winnipeg Japanese restaurants. They have oyster Tuesdays that are very popular. (That is when we went) You do need to order $20 worth of other items, but that's relatively easy. They also have some of the best sauce that goes with it. The oysters became a sauce delivery system for me. It's a tangy ponzu! Service was excellent when we went last. This location has been around for around 20 years I was told. It's one of the higher end places to stop if you want sushi.
This was hands down the best sushi I have ever had. Very friendly and relaxed hosts. Very friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Great progression of the speed at which the dishes came out. Thank you so much! 5 stars.
Awesome food. We tried the tuna nachos, the kamikaze roll and the princess Chelsea. The jalapeños packed a nice punch as a topping for the nachos. Overall, good flavors and textures.
Never had a disappointing meal here! Staff are always friendly and cool/calm. $1 oysters on Tuesdays!!!
Best sushi in the city! Recently they quickly addressed and fixed a Door Dash order issue. Crazy 88 & House rolls are favourites. Highly recommended.
As soon as we walked in we were greeted so warmly and felt so welcomed by even the kitchen staff. They pay so much attention to detail and everything felt like it was made with love. The drinks and food were amazing, best food and experience we have had. The friendly and attentive staff made our experience one to remember and we will most definitely be visiting again and telling our friends and family to visit as well.
Cannot praise this place enough. The best sushi in Winnipeg for sure. Very cozy ambience and seating. Pleasant hosts as always - we were taken care by Nicole who was on top of everything and made sure we had a comfortable and pleasant time. Everytime is a great time here - all the wasabi group restaurants are great.
amazing sushi!! love the uniqueness of this restaurant, as it is in an old house. got greeted right away by hostess and chef’s as work. waiter accidentally forgot one of our rolls, but made up for it in the time is was out. best sushi i’ve ever had, totally recommend for celebrating special occasions.
I've had great sushi in Toronto and Vancouver and I have to say Wasabi rivals best sushi restaurants in these two great cities. Tracey is amazing. Her stories and how she came to Winnipeg and her restaurant just amazes and she is such a great host. You gotta eat here! The Winnipeg jets roll was amazing as well as the OMG roll....all specially made.
The decor is outdated and not clean looking, as in the corners and crannies were dirty. The tableware was beautiful and elegant but I was disappointed in the disposable chopsticks. The service was on point. Attentive and friendly. The food presentation was beautiful. The pork gyoza was a little on the side of ordinary, it could have used more garlic. Otherwise it was nice and tender. The bakudan was perfectly balanced and wonderful. The warm tofu with mushrooms seemed lacking in mushrooms but otherwise was absolutely dreamy. The tofu was very fresh and the sauce was sumptuous
Been going here for the last ten years as much as i can . Expensive but worth every penny . Every item is top notch , we enjoy the spicy mango prawns , calamari , and of course my fav WINNIPEG LETS GO JETS ROLL . Thanks boys and girls for a great experience
While the food and atmosphere receive high marks, some patrons note that the prices are on the higher side, which is consistent with the fine dining experience offered. Overall, Wasabi on Broadway is celebrated for its fresh ingredients, creative menu, and inviting setting, making it a standout choice for Japanese
I thoroughly enjoy dining here, especially for their nigiri and Tuesday oyster night. There's no doubt the price-point is higher but if you care about quality - this is the spot you'll want to splurge at. I personally have had better experiences sitting at the sushi bar as opposed to the dining room - Adam (head sushi chef) is a gem and getting to eat at the sushi bar is always a great experience!
Pretty good place with delicious sushi. The assortment is great. Home-mode lemonade was amazing! They should definitely include it in menu. The only one thing I did not like is the building itself. The restaurant is incredibly small cause in fact it is opened right at the usual house.) And also the smell of old house spoils the atmosphere.
The food is good, the portions are small and the prices are atrocious... excluding the buck a shuck oysters on Tuesdays. The host seated us and forgot to tell anyone so after 20 minutes, we had to go ask if anyone was going to serve us. They were apologetic but there was no compensation. Coming from Calgary, we weren't totally impressed with the overall experience.
Our table was in a little nook which created a great romantic atmosphere the LOL cocktail was delicious overly sweet be careful to dont taste the booze that can be dangerous the wine was good for a house white wine. Everything tuna nacho appetizer was delicious the prairie fire roll just enough spice tasted delicious. Tuna taki was very good. We did have some raw fish and that is where I went wrong maybe as soon as we got in the cab I felt really sick bad cramping and very dizzy and nauseous. Right when I walked in the door ran for the bathroom and everything came up. I would have given a 4 or 5 star review but I had to give a 3 because I got sick right away my partner is totally fine.
Extremely friendly staff, very helpful, nice sushi, specially as far away from an Ocean as Winnipeg is (this tourist lives in San Diego), would have appreciated larger cuts, however that's the deal. The New style preparation was really very good, would order it again.
I don’t come here often aside from the odd oyster night so I thought it would be a nice treat for my dad’s birthday. We were a table of 4 and ordered our food around 5:20pm and received our last dish at 6:45pm. We ordered a sashimi platter, an appetizer, and 4 rolls with the intention of ordering more depending on how full we would be. Each dish came out one at a time and 20 minutes after the other, and being 4 of us we finished what was on the plate within a matter of minutes. I noticed when walking to the washroom there was only one chef working behind the sushi bar which added up. There were only maybe 3 other tables while we were there, with more tables coming near the end of our stay, so it certainly wasn’t busy. Our server didn’t apologize for the wait, nor did he tell us in advance there would be a delay for the food. We would’ve definitely ordered more dishes had it not taken so long for everything else. Overall, we left hungry, disappointed and frustrated.. and I’m not sure I’ll be back here.
Food looked delicious, but I could not try it out, because no one took my order in 20 min. It wasnt a full house case, and for the premium price, that's unacceptable.
Dissapointing visit to Wasabi on Broadway. Had not been to this location in 10+ years, typically going to Taylor. Daughter's 13th birthday and we called ahead to reserve so she could experience the greatness of Wasabi. When we got there, they sat us by the bar. 15 minutes later i had to stand up and go get their attention so we could get a waitress and they seemed annoyed by that and unapologetic. Food was great as always but between the service delays and the poor atmosphere of that seating it was not anywhere close to the experience I was hoping for for her. She said she preferred the atmospehere at Sushi One - which has no atmosphere but great food too lol. Could've taken her there and paid 1/2 the price but was hoping for a fine dining experience. Will definitely be another decade plus before I take anyone to this location.
Love the food. The new Skip the Dishes delivery service is very frustrating. Quoted a time in one hour then showed up an hour later. Wasabi is trying to reassure me that the food has been sitting around for an hour. Not very reassuring for sushi! Not impressed.
This used to be my favorite sushi restaurant in the city. Unfortunately I believe they've recently changed ownership and the quality of their food and service has declined, but their price has remained high. The last two times we went we had poor service and lower quality sushi than what we've been able to get for a fraction of the price at other places. Last time we went we were seated in what was a closet like space and it smelled vaguely of cat litter. The roles that had deep fried elements had a cheap oil flavor. We've ordered these particular rolls many times in the past and expected high quality and unfortunately that isn't what we received. We also waited for over an hour to receive our food and had to flag down a server to get water.
Appetizers, service, and ingredients were good. Prep and execution of the rolls, 1/5. This was previously my go to spot. If I'm paying over $100 for 4 rolls, I'd expect the food to hit the spot, but it didn't. Unfortunately, I will not be back. No longer recommended.
Very rude and arrogant customer service by the lady on Front of house. Better learn respect all age group and everyone before standing on that respectable position.
Food was delicious but unfortunately the service was very lacking. Waited over 2 hours to get a main dish without offers of a second round of drinks or anything in the mean time. Felt like I had to ask for step by step service. Please don't book a table in the future if you don't have enough staff or management in house to accomodate.
Had a gift card that no one knew how to redeem and we waited 30 minutes while they tried to figure it out. By then the food was cold and they still hadn't figured it out so we left. I tried calling there to speak to a manager, no call back. Tried emailing their customer service email over a week ago with no reply. Absolutely terrible experience. Have 100 dollar gift card that they sold and can't be redeemed.
I ordered pick up the spicy mango prawn salad (which is usually delicious) was horrible pure greasy nothing like usual, and the tuna was awful mushy and very fishy. I called to complain they said there was no manager on and someone would call me back tomorrow. No one ever did. I order from there a lot but I don’t think they appreciate their customers they think they are so popular they don’t have to care. Sad
I did take out just now, I found chin hair on my roll. When I got restaurant the sushi man put their mask on his chin. When I look at him he put mask back on with his hand with glove on. Imagine he made sushi with that hand. Disgusting. Wassabi was good before, now you have a lot of better other options.
Would not recommend. I was excited to eat here but it failed to meet the lowest of standards while being the highest priced sushi I have ever ordered. I had paper plates and solo style plastic cups as the serving ware. The staff seemed to think this was a greasy spoon take out shake rather than a restaurant. I was the only person in the place at 6 pm on a week night and it felt like a small town golf course restaurant run by local children home for the summer. A single sushi roll cost over 15 dollars.
it was good before. not anymore. waited for food almost an hour and taste pissed me off
Ordered five dishes with the help of our waiter. My wife and I took one bite of our Godzilla roles and immediately noticed a strong “fishy” taste. Something was off which left a terrible taste in our mouths. We told our waiter and returned the dish. A few minutes later he returned with a takeout box full of the remaining Godzilla roles and suggested someone at home might enjoy them, but the manager refused to accept the return. I approached the manager and explained our concern. She said everything was fresh and the role was fine. Not their fault I didn’t like the taste. 15 years as a loyal Wasabi customer and we will never be back.
I have been at Wasabi back in 2020 but the quality way better back then. I ordered today again but I was seriously disappointed. The sushi was full of rice, no sauce on top at all. For the amount spent I was expected delicious sushi but this was definitely not worth it. I have tried Sato Sushi and loved it. They have delicious sushi and way less expensive. I hope this will help Wasabi level up.
$1 oysters, but they ask you to spend $25 first — never mentioned on their IG post or anywhere. Feels like a scam. It took 30 minutes for the first round to be served, and then the waiter disappeared and never came back to check on us or refill our water. We tried to order more oysters after the first round but waited over 40 minutes — still no sign of the waiter, and no one else we could ask. We were running out of time, so we decided to cancel the order, but we couldn’t even find the waiter, even her co-worker can't find her either. Then she finally came back with the oysters. She said she needed to check if it was possible to cancel the order — and that took another 20 minutes of waiting and being ignored. Finally, the waiter came and asked if we wanted to split the bill. We said no, just hurry up — and still had to wait another 20 minutes. HOW?! WHY?! Because we’re Asian, in an Asian restaurant? Spent almost 2 hours in the restaurant and still left feeling hungry and upset. We were late for our next stop. A ruined birthday dinner — very disappointed.
So lets talk about food- expensive and less than mediocre. Service is slow , like very sloooow . Server was kinda ok , there was some lady that snatched my wife's plate while she was reaching for food . atmosphere it's so dark that I had to turn on my phone flashlight to read the menu . I don't come to places with high expectations but after visiting this place if felt like was ripped off. No worth it . Sorry
The food was average, but the most disappointing part was the service. A waitress introduced herself as the one responsible of our table, we thought we’d be getting good service, but it turned out to be the opposite. We visited the restaurant specifically for the $1 oysters to celebrate a friend’s B-day. But found out there was a minimum spend of $25 per person (food only, drinks not included), which was fine. But after finishing the first round of oysters, we waited a very long time to order the second round. We told the server multiple times — as well as other staff that we had been waiting and were also in a hurry. The waitress who should be responsible of our table just disappeared for a long while and only came back to tell us the food was “on the way.” Because we were pressed for time, we decided to cancel. When she heard this, she clearly wasn’t happy and disappeared again for about 20 minutes before finally confirming the cancellation. Then we had to wait again just to get the bill, despite reminding them multiple times that we were in a rush. It felt like they were upset we canceled a dozen oysters and deliberately dragged things out. During the first round of food, no one even came by to check on us or ask if everything was okay. P.S was Tuesday non busy time, restaurant is not full, just few tables when we visited
