One of the best bars in Greenpoint. Lovely backyard, cheap $4 pints of good beer on happy hour, cool corners to seat with friends, nice decoration, and even a fireplace!

Loved the dark gothic church vibes! Came here a few times in the winter and loved their warm drinks + the mini cheese platter. Such a vibe.

Casual place with a nice, relaxed atmosphere and great beer and whiskey selections... lots of rye choices which happens to be my favorite whiskey. Reminds me of a British Pub. A refreshing change from the trendier places in the area.

The bartender was nice. She was patient and informative when I didnt know what I wanted, and had an incredible sixth sense for the exact moment I wanted my check. I looked forward to spending more time here.

We went to celebrate my wife's 30th birthday. I wanted to surprise my wife with a cake and a great place to enjoy with friends and family. Tom the manager was an amazing host and helped out with all of the extra arrangements. The band was amazing and sang happy birthday. The vibe of the place was perfect. Any time I find myself in Nashville I will be visiting the Black Rabbit. Highly recommend.

We are out of state and wanted to arrange for our mom and sister to have Christmas dinner at the Black Rabbit. For security reasons, they could not take our credit card over the phone. (Unfortunate sign of the times.) The manager, Chris and his staff went far and beyond trying to find a way to help us treat our family. Thanks to their help, we were able to make it work and our family was treated to an amazing meal, impeccable service and experience. Thank you to all who gave up your Christmas to give everyone else a special experience!

Upon entering the establishment, I found myself immediately enveloped in a most agreeable atmosphere. The room was lit in a soft, amber glow, neither too dim nor excessively bright, but rather possessing that perfect balance which invites both ease and conversation. Dark woods and polished brass adorned the interior, lending the place a certain dignity befitting a gentleman, yet never so pretentious as to discourage the common traveler. I took my place at the bar, whereupon I was greeted by a most courteous barkeep. He inquired after my preferences with genuine interest, asking whether my constitution desired refreshment or fortification. Such attentiveness is rare, even in the finer establishments of our day, and I found myself quite taken by his manner. As he prepared my drink, I observed the delicate precision with which he worked—measuring spirits with care, slicing citrus with a practiced hand, and presenting the final concoction in glassware of quality craftsmanship. When he set the drink before me, he took the time to explain its composition, as though guiding me on a small voyage of discovery. It was a most refined touch. Around me, patrons conversed in tones both lively and congenial. Gentlemen in neat attire and ladies dressed with elegant restraint filled the room with a hum of pleasant discourse. It was neither rowdy nor dull, but rather possessed of that rare equilibrium which makes one feel part of some modestly grand occasion. While the establishment bears the hallmarks of quality—and no doubt commands prices reflecting such—it does not wear its refinement heavily. Instead, it welcomes the visitor and encourages him to linger. Indeed, I found myself in no hurry to depart. Yet I would advise future callers to arrive early or secure a favorable seat, for the stools at the counter, though handsome, may offer limited comfort for those intending to tarry long. In sum, my visit was most satisfying. I should readily recommend this house to any traveler seeking a well-crafted libation, courteous company, and an atmosphere conducive to both conversation and quiet reflection. Should I assign it a measure of distinction, I would bestow upon it a most respectable mark—near excellent, wanting only a few minor considerations to reach perfection.

I love this bar but their trivia takes forever. It’s been an hour and we are still in round #1. The hosts, though cute, do too much banter and the scoring system also draws out the process too long. Bless your hearts but I have a bedtime 😭 TLDR trivia takes too long

Best local watering hole in Greenpoint. Excellent old world vibes with great service and cheap drinks. This is an excellent getaway from the noisy surrounding restaurants with friends for some drinks and congratulation. Best part is their private pews for that private enclosure feeling. An absolutely fantastic experience.

i previously had a somewhat disappointing experience here, but I stopped back in last week for a pint, and I must say, I take back anything bad I ever said about this establishment. The most comfy, cozy, quiet place to read a book by the fireplace on a cold afternoon. The hot toddies are the best in the city, imho. Service was excellent. The atmosphere is lovely and the bartender even remembered me from months ago!

Nice little bar that gets busy in the evenings. The vibe inside is dark but quaint - it’s very cool! They have some interesting drinks to choose from and a decent amount of seating. Discount if you pay in cash as well! Will definitely stop by again if I’m in the area.

Very cozy spot to visit, one of my favorite places to go in the winter. It's an especially nice place to go on a date. There's even a fireplace in the back, as well as semi-private booths with swinging doors that close! The backyard is also really nice in the summer!

Had a small party here and it was awesome!!! We had full access to the backyard. Drinks were great, and the pickle-back shots were amazing. The staff were very kind and helpful, and all our friends had a great time. If I had a small complaint, it's that they don't offer many food options, and the menu online doesn't always reflect what's actually available. However, that is easily overlooked!

Now that I've been here twice, I can confidently say that this is a neighborhood standout. Good cocktails. Great ales on tap. Small bar menu. Excellent bartenders and music playlists. A great date spot as it is cozy and has no televisions. I live in Manhattan, but when I have a concert or film in Greenpoint, I start my evening here

Great place to drink. They don't have a large selection of beer on tap, but overall they have many options. I had never heard of a gingerback shot before, but I tried one on the advice of the bartender. It was fabulous! However it is not for people who don't like ginger. They have plenty of seating at the bar and many booths for larger groups. Each of the booths have swinging doors that can be closed for privacy. There are also picnic tables and benches outside in the back, but it was way too hot to enjoy them the day I was there.

Excellent space with private "pews" for you and your friends, plus a small backyard patio with two communal tables. Has an overall Bavarian or Game of Thrones feel, which means dark and sultry. $6 pickel or ginger backs. Beers are good and around $7-8.

The little wooden booths here have a door so you can close yourself off from the rest of the bar... good if you're on a date. We grabbed a hot toddy here and sat near the fire at the back. The barman was extremely pleasant and was chatting to customers as if they were old friends.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon with a large group. The bartenders were rude and very stand offish. Despite having food on the menu, the kitchen was not open until 7:30pm (and they were rude about this too). Anytime we ordered it seemed like a hassle and like they were annoyed, even though we were spending hundreds of dollars at this establishment. Wouldn’t recommend for large groups or anyone looking for a fun upbeat vibe.

I'm giving it two stars, but with a few changes, this could easily be a four star establishment. I like room for improvement and growth. Good thing - The bartender was cheerful and reasonably attentive. Bad thing - She forgot two of the three drinks we ordered. Good thing - The bartender made the drinks reasonably well. Bad thing - On a Saturday night, there was only one bartender, which led to really slow service. Good thing - The fact that Black Rabbit has booths with little switches for waiter service is super cool. Bad thing - The service started off slow, and later devolved into non-existent to the point where we had to deal with the bartender again. Good thing - The sound system seemed to beplaying Talking Heads' amazing album Remain In Light upon arrival. Bad thing - It ended up being the first four songs of the album before going back to the top track. Then the mix went to a "best of 2nd wave ska" sampler. This was fine, until the mix started repeating itself to the point where it was really annoying. Good thing - The decor is unique and interesting. It seems sort of dark while still being inviting. Bad thing (maybe) - The ceiling is solidly blood red painted wood, from what I could tell. For whatever reason, I kept focusing on it and it bothered me. The bad things were indeed disappointing, but could be corrected without much difficulty. I hope they are.

First time I came to this wonderful bar..... unfortunately the bar tender is the RUDEST PERSON EVER. What ever her problem is, leave it at home!!! OWNER, Manager please have your staff be nicer to your patrons.

We came here late at night for a drink. We sat ourselves and waited for service, as the table indicated, but the bartender ignored us. When our group went up to order, she sighed - as if we were an inconvenience. She was nothing but rude and disrespectful. She needs to be more happy while at work. Sad to know us walking in and providing business annoyed her. Horrible customer service.

Most horrible and racial bias bartender. I went with two friends. She refused to take my order, I asked if I could seat at the booth without ordering drinks, but she said that I couldn´t stay or eat anywhere in the whole establishment. I asked to give a detailed explanation of the issue, but instead, she gave us a very condescending and rude answer that didn´t make any sense. I asked her to be more polite, and as a response, she threw away my friend´s beer without even asking if them wanted to stay. As a consequence, we decided to leave in the middle of the worst rant that you can have with a bartender in front of other costumers. I was looking at other patrons reviews in Yelp and here, and the same bartender attitude seemed discriminatory against people of color. These horrible treatments will back against their business sooner than latter. The bad reviews speak volumes of that problematic behavior. Not because they have a black artist on their staff, it will excuse the bias treatment toward Latino, Muslim, Asian customers. Is a very disgusting attitude that owner should be accountable for. I don’t understand why they are doing that to thier own business.

My friends and I were looking for a cozy bar for the first cold night of the year. Black rabbit is exactly what we were looking for. The fireplace and booths are so cozy. Unfortunately our waiter was very hateful and rude. I was trying to have a simple discussion with him because I think he accidentally charged us for two extra drinks. He ripped the check out of my hand and fixed it. I gave him a good tip, handed the check back and said thank you. No response. General communication throughout the night wasn't great and he also wouldn't let my friend order a non-alcoholic drink of any sort. Although I would like to have another cozy night at black rabbit, I'm too scared I'll have him as a waiter again.

Had a terrible experience with a female bartender here Saturday night who was incredibly rude after a friend asked for the prices of the whiskey, like just asked for a price range. She was not interested in helping or doing anything at all, was just super disrespectful, I.E. responding “I don’t know it’s whiskey the prices range from high to low”. Such a sour taste in my mouth after our interaction with her, she was just terribly inconsiderate for really no reason at all, one of my worst experiences ever with a bartender in New York

I went in for a couple of drinks and the bartender was not overly friendly. Her name was “Sa”. After a colleague of mine and I had 4/5 drinks it was time to leave. I thanked her and asked where she was from? She said “here”. I said oh what’s your heritage? As I’m Irish but grew up here. She said “none of your business!”, as if I was a lawyer in a deposition. An innocent conversation and she was rude for no reason. I wouldn’t go there again. Terrible experience unless you like being abused. Tip for the first time in my life was zero.

AVOID this place if you’re young and looking for a fruity drink lol. My boyfriend and I had a really uncomfortable encounter here because of the bartender’s attitude. When we first walked in, everything seemed fine, but as soon as I ordered my drink — a Malibu Bay Breeze or a Mojito — she said, with a condescending tone, “Can I see your ID? No shade, but those are drinks young people order.” I laughed it off and handed her my ID right away, saying calmly, “I just like those drinks, I’m 28.” That wasn’t said with any attitude — just a lighthearted response to her unnecessary comment. She replied, “I’m 48 and still get carded, take it as a compliment.” Completely uncalled for. I understand checking IDs is part of her job, but there’s a professional way to do it without being rude or judgmental. My boyfriend didn’t have his ID with him, and given how she made a big deal about mine, we assumed she wouldn’t serve him — and honestly, what bartender SHOULD? She never once clarified to me that she would still serve him without it, so I genuinely thought he couldn’t order anything. When she also mentioned she couldn’t make either of the drinks I asked for, I told him I’d rather we go somewhere else so we could both have a drink together. I turned to her, thanked her politely, and said we were just going to head out. That’s when she got even more rude and said, “That’s also what young people do.” I think she assumed we were leaving because I was ID’d- completely misread the situation. I explained we were leaving because I thought she wouldn’t serve him, and she raised her voice saying, “I said I would serve him without his ID!” (Turning heads at the bar; even one of the patrons gave us an awkward smile on the walk out). Don’t know if it was my drink choice, age, or what could it have been to make her act like that toward us. We were just trying to have a drink in what seemed like a good environment. The whole exchange was uncomfortable and unnecessary. From the moment I ordered, it felt like she wanted a problem. After reading other reviews, I can see this isn’t an isolated incident.

Don't come here! The bartender was going to serve my spirits in a dirty glass and the beer tasted like dish soap. I left without finishing it. WAY better bars really close.
