Absolutely fantastic food and atmosphere. I've been to many German restaurants around NY and this is by far the best one. Big portions and very yummy
This restaurant stands out from others! Everyone working here has a friendly attitude that adds to the atmosphere. Both food and service stand out. This place might meet all your dining needs. Have an enjoyable time and meal.
This place deserves credit for its consistent performance. The service sets this restaurant apart. The employees handle busy times with grace. Their food quality ranks among my lifetime bests. The experience here is absolute joy.
I found new favorite flavors with every dish they brought. Every dish tasted good and was served properly. Plus, the workers maintain a positive demeanor. I was surprised by how neat and trendy everything looked. Appreciate good cooking!
We went on a Wednesday night, bingo night! It was a riot, although we did not play. Not only fun, but the food was outstanding. The Farmer’s Wurst plate with five types of sausage, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes with three mustards, and the fresh cut thick fries and pretzel were all wonderful. We have to especially point out the excellent service by the two wait staff who worked as a team, handled the whole full room with ease and grace In a warm and welcoming and attentive manner. We can’t wait to go back, and next time we’ll be playing bingo as well as eating solid, authentic German food.
Recently celebrated my friend's birthday at Schnitzel Haus, and it was an exceptional experience. The food was incredibly authentic, with perfectly crispy schnitzels, sausages and delicious sides and a mouthwatering apple strudel for dessert. The cozy ambiance and attentive service made the evening truly memorable. If you're seeking genuine German cuisine, Schnitzel Haus is a must-visit. Highly recommended!!
Great German food and beer but skip dessert. For some reason the apple strudel, german chocolate cake and black forest cake are not nearly up to the same standards. Do get the Pilze Forsterin Art! Great appetizer! The mushrooms are thick and juicy, the gravy delicious and the pumpernickel bread ties it together. I heartily recommend the sausage sampler!
Authentic German cuisine and beer, great simple ambient and live music! If you want to spend a lively time with your family or friends and don't want to break the bank, its a right place to come. But be prepared for a difficulty to find a street parking ;) I am sorry, we were hungry so by the time I realized to take photos we almost ate it all and it was tasty 😋
Googled for German food on the way back from NJ What a treat. Great selection of traditional Bavarian dishes. Wide selection of German beer. Staff was attentive and informative. Very comfortable atmosphere. Place seemed like a local favorite. Lots of take out going out the door too. Probably the largest traditional German menu in the tristate area. Desserts totally worth it.
I had dinner with my friend. The house spiced cider was perfect, highly recommend you try that. We ordered beef goulash and potato leek soup; they were delicious and big serving size too. For the entrees, we got the pork tenderloin and pork schnitzel; one entree was enough to feed two people. The sauce was delicious, just a bit too much salt on the meat for me. Customer service was wonderful. Definitely give this place a try if you want German food.
Excellent from start to finish. Draft beer picks were tasty. Snails in the garlic butter were really perfect. Sausage sampler was wonderful. Pork chops and pork shank perfectly cooked. The crispy skin and meat on the shank was amazing. Mind you all of this was led by the outstanding service we got from our server Dean. Thank you. We'll be back.
Old school German restaurant in Bay Ridge. Definitely has its crowd of regulars. Came on a Friday night for dinner and they had live music which was a nice treat. The service was extremely slow but we weren't in a rush. We ordered the steak salad and a Bavarian pretzel to start. We didn't realize that our entrees came with salad so next time I'd skip the steak salad. The steak wasn't as tender as I had hoped it would be. The pretzel was warm and salty, but salty in the way you want a warm pretzel to be, it was delicious. I especially enjoyed the grainy mustard. I ordered the rahmschnitzel with mushroom cream sauce and it was rich and tasty. My husband ordered the wienerschnitzel with french fries instead of spaetzle. They brought him spaetzle anyway. His veal cutlets were just that, plain, fried veal cutlets. They could have used a sauce aside from the lemon wedges they came with. The spaetzle was unfortunately bland but the fries mostly made up for that. We also had a couple wheat beers and lagers. Next time I come, I'd like to try some wursts. Overall, it was a good meal with live entertainment.
It has a nice vibe. Friendly staff. Beer is $6 during Happy Hour. If you're new, ask the bartender for Lager recommendations. Don't drive afterwards, the Lager can be strong. I'd definitely go back.
Update: after such a nasty response by the owner I highly doubt we will be back. Good food, nice service but somewhat slow taking into account that there were no other customers at the restaurant. The place only accepts cash. Who carries so much cash with them these days? It was a big group of us and it was extremely annoying that we had to run to an ATM machine in order to pay for our meal. You can always add an option to use a credit card for additional fees instead of having your customers run to an ATM machine after having a meal or let them know ahead of time that this is a cash only place so they don't feel trapped.
This was my first time trying German food, and it was definitely an acquired taste for me. I ordered the chicken paprika, and I found myself liking it more with each bite. It did take a while to come out, but the menu mentioned that it takes longer to prepare. Unfortunately, there was a band playing that made the experience less enjoyable. The vocal mic was way too loud, and honestly, I’m not sure who told the singer he could sing. On top of that, when it came time to pay, I was told it was cash-only, which confused me. I didn’t see any cash-only signs, and the menu clearly states there's a 4% non-cash adjustment fee, so I knew I could use my card for payment. Plus, there was a lit credit card machine at the register. When I asked the server (who I believe is the owner's wife) if it was a cash-only night, she said it’s always cash-only. I’m not sure if that’s true, but I didn’t want to make a fuss, especially with the loud singer. I just went to get cash and paid. I don’t think I’ll be returning to this place.
The restaurant is located in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn. They serve German food and have a large bar. The dishes include various schnitzel which are similar to breaded chicken and veal cutlets. German style soups, salads and bratwurst are also available. Dessert options include black forest cake. The restaurant is currently a cash-only business.
The food was hearty and filling. I ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel the pork was fried well and the mushroom sauce had a good flavor. My husband ordered the Scnitzel A La Holstein the veal was way better than the pork it was more tender and crispy. We also got the potato pancakes I found them to be a bit dry but overall not terrible. This was one of the better German restaurants I’ve tried in NYC.
The food was fine. No complaints there. However, PLEASE update your sign at your door and the info on Google that you are a CASH ONLY restaurant. We went to celebrate a friend's birthday and we were treating. No one told us when we sat down that it was cash only. My husband and I didn't have enough cash to pay the bill so our friend paid for her own birthday dinner because she happened to have cash that day!! We were so embarrassed and mortified. If you are a cash only restaurant, then let the patrons know in advance. That's all. I understand that credit card companies over charge restaurant with fees. I've supported many local businesses that are cash only and I BRING CASH IN ADVANCE! This is the sign you have up on your door today and the screen shot of your Google info page. Please change this.
the food is tasty, (soft drinks are flat and tasting kinda off but who cares) but the poor service and long wait for even getting the menu is ruining it all. Then it's only cash (it's 2023 so that's kinda weird) and there is a fee if one wants to share a dish (kinda funny for a German restaurant to be so controlling but whatever) so all in all the great food tasted sour because the place only seems to welcome some but not all guests.
