Compared to a lot of other Chinese bakeries across NYC, this one is among one of the best. Actually decent coffee compared to the acidic and muddy tasting stuff you get at most places. This place actually makes real Western style stuff like croissants decently.
I come here almost every morning before I head on the train. I swear if this place ever closes down I’m gonna be so sad. The workers here are so nice & sweet and I’m able to pick up a bunch of things and the total always comes out around 10 dollars.
I come here every Wednesday afternoon - the staff is very friendly and the prices are very affordable! Their pineapple buns & Portuguese egg tarts are to die for! I also enjoy their bubble teas - mango & brown sugar in particular are super good. If you’re ever in the area give it a try - it’s worth every penny :)
Passed it so many times waiting for my bus. Finally decided to go in one day and it's so cute! The cakes and desserts are great but the thing that has impressed me the most so far was the lemon bun. It was delicious and I plan to try more of their buns.
I LOVE this place!! Everything I've had here is just delicious. Their frozen buns are great to take home too! The staff is great and I love all the plants they have around the shop. I always feel so at home stopping by. Highly reccommend!
Cute bakery, employees are very quick and nice! I recommend the *Portuguese egg tarts, honestly can't get enough of them, they seem to sell out of them regularly too, so just a heads up! *The Portuguese and regular egg tarts taste pretty different. The Portuguese have a layer on the top of sugar or some kind of addition that makes them sweeter. The regular egg tarts you get an eggier taste with, which isn't bad but...once you have the Portuguese egg tarts, you can't go back.
This place is amazing! It's insanely cheap (1-2$ for massive, fluffy, and delicious pastries)!! All of the pastries are absolutely delicious, and the coffee is FIRE!! The staff are super friendly too. One of my favorite places in BR, and my daily go-to breakfast! Definitely a must visit place.
I love this place. They have a fresh cream sponge cake with fresh fruit ( Strawberry and melon).I love Bananas so I asked them if they can make the same cake but with bananas and strawberries. The owner said she never tried making it with bananas but she was very intrested in trying. Well let me tell you, it was heaven in my mouth.( Delicious) The staff is so friendly and the place is so clean.
I thought I hated boba until I came here. The boba is very fresh, milk teas are great, pork buns are to die for, and their customer service is amazing. They are always so nice, and willing to adjust my teas when I order wrong. They have so many other amazing looking pastries, I can't wait to try more. A very nice gem in Bay Ridge.
very clean, very quick, friendly service. I’ve liked everything i’ve tried before (cheese bun and pineapple bun cannot be slept on). A lot of bakery items sell out in the morning. Drinks are also good if you like them bitter or sweet.
Typical Chinese bakery, but the food is above average here, and so are the prices. But you get what you pay for. Best lemon bun I had anywhere else I have tried. Nice and quiet place to sit as well.
Its really really good. The staff is amazing and there treats are really good. I had the crossaints that are made with cheese, turkey or ham and cheese. They were both great. And I had the mango green tea. Place is very comforting and welcoming a must try.
I placed a cake order with Gigi’s the day before an event, and everything was perfect! The cake was ready on time, and they provided a box with a handle, a cake cutter, and candles. The cake — a mango mousse — was delicious. Thank you for taking my last-minute order!
I don’t know what else to say besides THANK YOU. It’s been such a struggle to afford anything these days and for you guys to keep prices so low on the most tasteful freshest bakery goods, you deserve the world. I wish I could give you 100 stars. If you’re reading this, PLEASE do yourself a favor and pick up a bunch of things from this place. Vanilla roll, strawberry mousse, egg tarts, croissants, everything is so fresh, tasty and possible some of the most affordable food in all of NYC. I wish you guys so much luck in your business. Can’t wait to be back
Good baked goods and good price too. Friendly staff and environment.
10/10. The boba was so good and hit the spot. Love this small bakery. The prices are amazing and the tea is so fresh. Fridays afternoon employees were very kind!
I had never been here before, but I decided to take a chance and purchase a cake the same day for a work event—and I’m so glad I did. The bakery was spotless, and the young man at the counter was polite, patient, and very helpful. I chose the mango cake, which was fresh, not too sweet, and absolutely delicious. The packaging was perfect and kept the cake safe during transport, and it even came with a birthday topper, candles, and a disposable cake cutter. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend Gigi’s Bakery.
It’s been so long I came here to enjoy a cup of great iced coffee . I used to work around here & it was my go to place to get coffee & cookies. Customer service is really great. Like the decor a lot , lots of seats to relax & enjoy. Bringing back a lot of good memories! Thank you guys for such an awesome experience everytime I come here.
Clean family owned bakery with a variety of sweet and savory goods. So glad to have this in Bay Ridge. Bakery looks clean, organized and the food does not disappoint. I've also ordered cakes from them before and they were also delicious, not overly sweet like other cakes I've had before. Love getting their refrigerated roast pork buns. Pop one in the microwave and it's an easy breakfast/lunch!
Five stars! The softest, fluffiest, & freshest breads in the neighborhood. Super friendly service (when I accidentally spilled my coffee everywhere 3 staff immediately converged to help me clean it up). Very reasonable prices. Open super early for commuters. Subway adjacent. Light, airy, & clean environment. Customer restroom. I hope they do well and become a local staple!
Great neighborhood bakery with steamed buns and lots of Chinese-style baked goodies. The walnut cookie is delicious. The bread makes the best sandwiches! The staff is very friendly also.
Staff is very friendly and the location is spotless, I order the brown sugar bubble tea with one cheese and ham bun (forgot to take picture). First of all the bun is delicious!!! From the cheese to the ham to the spring onions. Everything comes together greatly and is very flavorful. The bubble tea really surprised me, it was incredible in flavor and portion. Overall I am probably gonna come here for breakfast from now on. Please try the ham and cheese bun!!!
Gigi’s never fails to disappoint with their amazing sweet and savory buns! Their food is just so delicious every time I go! My favorite bun to recommend is the regular pork bun.
I'm in the area often for work and I gotta say Gigis is a great spot for a light lunch. Both delicious and very very affordable. And the bathroom is always clean ! I usually get a roast pork bun cause they're tasty and filling. I've noticed they have a lot of hot dog centered foods. Like croissant wrapped around a hot dog, looked like a giant pig in a blanket. Haven't tried any of those yet but they looked good. Plenty of lunch options is my point though. I have had coffee from them before as well and it's acceptable! Not watery or burnt swill. Yesterday I got a Pork Puff for the first time and I can't lie, it was a bit strange for my American pallet but it was OUTSTANDINGLY delicious. Do not let the jelly like texture turn you off. It's so freaking good. It's basically like deep-fried mochi with a sweet pork filling. It's got a nice crispy crust with a soft inside and the filling just like melts in your mouth. 10 out of 10 ! I also got a purple sweet potato bun which I'm actually eating right now and it's pretty good as well. It's not any sweeter than a regular cooked sweet potato and it's a bit starchy. It's got like little pockets of sweet potato filling throughout and the bread is fairly light and airy. It's definitely not sweet enough to be considered dessert in my honest opinion but that makes it another good lunch option. Which is exactly what I wanted so I'm happy ! Overall I really like this place. The employees are fast and attentive, half the time they're waiting on my to decide what I want haha definitely try them out if you're in the area, are starving and only have $5
I haven’t actually visited the bakery in person but my sister has bought us some buns from here and both times, they were amazing. I’m sure it’s probably because of all the extra butter they layer in there, but I try not to think about it. I’ve tried the cha siu bao, hot dog bun, scallion bun, and my newly discovered favorite - the ham and cheese bun. She said that each bun is probably about 25 to 50 cents more than a regular Chinese bakery, but the quality is so much better. You really do pay for what you get in this situation. Can’t wait to go in person so I can eat with my eyes and probably end up buying more buns than I can actually eat.
This place is a little piece of heaven on earth. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the desserts OMG!! They sell bubble tea also and the cakes well see by yourself. Best of all the desserts don't have as much sugar.

Very good bakery at a slightly elevated price given the neighborhood. Great proximity to the Bay Ridge-86th St station for commuters. Bread is always fresh, soft and delicious. All of the cashiers are courteous and lovely.
Do yourself a favor and get the Roast pork buns here!!! Truly incredible; and the food here is also incredibly priced. Overall, it's an affordable and tasty spot.
I love this place. I come here every time I come from my Dr's appointments. It's always clean, the counter service is outstanding. They have a great variety of reasonably priced asian goodies (pastries, cookies, cakes, meat filled dumplings, buns, macaroons etc). They also feature a great variety of hot & cold drinks. I much prefer this plave to Starbucks & DD. Their offerings, quite frankly, are superior & more economical.
I had a great experience ordering a birthday cake from Gigi's Bakery this past week. Eric, who assisted me, was attentive to my dietary needs and the specific details for the cake, which I requested to be vanilla with berries. The price of $45 felt reasonable for the cake, and it was ready for pickup on the scheduled day. The cake itself was fantastic, light, fluffy, and creamy, with the perfect balance of sweetness. Eric did an excellent job with the design, and my family thoroughly enjoyed it. Based on my experience and reviews, I will definitely consider ordering from Gigi's again in the future. I’ve consistently had great service over the years, and this visit reaffirmed that. I've never experienced any rude behavior from the staff, which suggests there has been noticeable improvement.
This bakery is phenomenal cakes 🎂 delicious especially the prices service was very polite
A very lovely place — clean, affordable, and the cashier is incredibly polite. The pastries are delicious and fresh.
I love Gigi. Staffs are so kind. Cake tastes great. Get the custard bread cuz it’s my favorite!!

Love this place, I come here every time I have to commute to my college for work; unfortunately with the pandemic that's been happening a lot less :( It's rare to see an English-speaking bakery that serves Hong Kong-style bread and pastries at the same low prices! Personally not a huge fan of their cakes, but their bread is on point. Egg tarts are great, too. Especially the Portuguese ones. Staff members are attentive and eager to answer questions
Clean and nice place. Super low prices for buns... tried them and taste nice. Didn't try the pastries yet. Great selection of teas but not herbal natural made at least the one I ordered. Good in average. We'll see next time 😉
If you've ever been to any of NYCs Chinatowns, you might have come across places like this. And although they dont have the full reportoire you might find there, they still have a nice selection of Chinese baked goods and drinks. All in all, happy to have them in the neighborhood.
Cake was good with fruits on top. There wasn’t a lot of sugar in the cake either. It was medium size feed about 12 for $40.

Egg tarts were really good and milk tea was good too. Its just that when i ordered matcha latte for the 1st time in this store, i saw them add water so the drink was watery and taste bad.
Review for the horrible customer service. Love the food and my coffee here. I do not recommend the steam rice roll here. It was hard and cold when I got it in the afternoon. Your cashiers needs to fix their attitude and possibly need hearing aids. Every time I order my coffee I need to repeat myself(which isn’t a problem) but being asked to repeat myself with an attitude and a stank face doesn't make anyone's experience here pleasant and is the problem. I'm a paying consumer who works locally and has gotten my coworkers hooked to this place. And this is for the tall guy and short girl who is usually taking the money. This isn’t just a one time thing. It’s a consistent attitude that I see depending on their mood. This is a bakery, I get it. I’m not expecting glorious customer service. But basic human respect would be greatly appreciated from a small family business.
The food had no taste… Felt discomfort after eating one of their cream cakes…. As some plastic pieces stuck inside filling. Low standards not good
Extremely disappointed with this shop because It used to be my favorite local place for Traditional pastries..however, this morning I purchased a sponge roll and found a metal wire/coil inside of it. I was quite disturbed with the realization, as I definitely could've gotten hurt had I swallowed it down. I wanted to speak to the manager about it, to warn them about future customers that may encounter this issue but when I called, The Manager was not there.I will most likely never return...
One of the rudest customer services you will ever get here. I told the young girl politely what I need but then the lady came and help her out but with negative attitude. If you want to have a positive morning, you will never want to come here because it will definitely ruin your day with negative energy. P.S after reviewing some of the reviews, I see I wasn’t the only one that had a bad experience here. There’s many of other also had said the lady was really rude and bad attitude even from 5 years ago so I believe they never took this seriously. Maybe we need to start making complain about it so they will start taking it seriously. It’s really bad to ruin other people’s day if we are just there to support the small business.
The service is horrible. Food is ok. Not always fresh. We have tried it several times and its very hit or miss. The last visit the guy was extremely rude so we are not going back.
